In observing girl children over the years, I have observed their beautiful strength. They are assertive, confident and have a beautiful stubbornness whether extrovert or introvert. My question, why as Christians do some of us squash it until it’s dead.? We at times forget girl children are formed and knitted together by the hand of God. They are fearfully and wonderfully made, one version says wonderfully complex. Another version states “all you do is strange and wonderful.” Girl children are strange and wonderful beings who are at most times complex. God gives these amazing examples of how wonderful the female gender is, starting in Genesis, from Sarah, Hagar, Tamar, Rebecca, Leah, Rachel to Dinah (the first recorded biblical survivor of sexual abuse). As you move on you have Zipporah(when bigotry was thrown her way it was judged), Jael full of strength and awareness, Phineas’ wife who was so connected to God she knew when his presence left a country , Michal, Abigail, Bathsheba, a woman so maligned if she could today, she would scream #METOO! so loud and raw we would feel it in the depths of our souls, the woman at the well who knew truth and went to tell her town, Mary and Martha, so many others like the women Paul mentions who ran early day churches from their homes. My Father introduced me to Jonathan Butler’s music when I was sixteen years old. Jazz fusion. 12 years later I saw him live. Amazing performance. He is the only Jazz fusion my snobby jazz ears accept. Then one day at my old church we were singing the song I have chosen for song of the day “Falling in Love with Jesus” and I look up to the screen with the lyrics and saw it was Jonathan Butler. I googled later in the day to find out he had become a Christian and he was making Jazz worship music now. Jonathan Kenneth Butler (born 10 October 1961) is a South African singer-songwriter and guitarist. His music is often classified as R&B, jazz fusion or worship music. Kirk Whalum (born July 11, 1958) is an American jazz saxophonist and songwriter. He toured with Whitney Houston for more than seven years and soloed in her single "I Will Always Love You", the best-selling single by a female artist in music history. Review of Date Nite In: More than 120 Recipes to Nourish Your Relationship by Ashley Rodiguez

I am obsessed with Ashley Rodiguez’s NotWithoutSalt.com( a food blog and then some) so I was over the moon when reading Ashley was taking her date night writings and recipes and publishing a cookbook. Last year, I finally purchased with a series of cookbooks to start married life. I love cookbooks often times I feel the recipes fall short; so I am kind of jaded. It takes a lot for me not to give a recipe a side eye but because of her website and the comments; I had a feeling that my side ways would half to rest for a spell. I was not wrong. I am beyond impressed with this book.

It’s filled with amazing recipes and stories that go along with each recipe, they are endearing and very real. Ashley allows us to see portions of herself and her marriage. The book is marriage positive. It has helped me reflect upon my relationship and the early stages of marriage.

I have made 50% of the recipes so far, something very rare happened, I loved it. Warning ⚠️ you need time for these recipes. Every one is a beautiful process. I really suggest you follow how Ashley has planned out the steps for you. What to prepare ahead, where and how to shop, even what you can make right before serving. For me, this is extraordinarily helpful, with a chronic illness cooking can become overwhelming. However, with the structure and planning of each recipe, I did not feel that I needed a 5 hour nap afterwards. It is great for women who work outside of the home as well as homemakers or the busy mom. For those who time management is of the utmost importance this cookbook is for you, Ashley delivers perfectly! It contains lots of salads and quick meals with few ingredients. The recipes also use whole foods, great for fans of clean eating; offering healthy nutrition for your body.

For the novice cook or someone looking for 30 minute meals, use Date Nights In for special occasions This cookbook is worth it.

There’s a grocery list for each meal that lists out all of the required ingredients.
