Chicken and Vegetables in Black Bean Sauce – @theseventhlion

This is a simple but tasty dish, often enjoyed with a bowl of white rice and a helping of green vegetables. The sauce can be spooned over the rice for added black bean flavor.Vegetarian / Side Dish

But I did think of something like that when I was drawing them! Tbh I was just gonna make some sneakers but then while drawing I was like “They kinda look like those Chinese dragon heads…” and then rolled with it and made it look even more so XD

Red Red is more of a city lion. He prefers to bless shops and businesses and is often seen wandering the markets looking for 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘨 and red packets.⠀

Key Unlike Red, Key is more attuned to nature, and enjoys the company of the animals and beasts of the wild. If you have a snake or a crab problem, Key's the one to call for a blessing.

Fei Fei here was named by the community on Instagram about a year ago! He loves his name!! He is the eldest of the three, so it's his job to protect Red and Key, but really, he spends most of his time just making sure they don't get up to any mischief!⠀

Previews of the some of the illustrations I have in my ‘Lion Heads’ zine. The zine contains 10 illustrations in total, showing the different style of lion dance heads you may see during Chinese New Year or any lion dance performance. 

Here we have, from left to right, hoksan, futsan (old style) and a northern lion. The zine also covers unicorn heads which are much less common than the traditional lion dance.

A new series of illustrations featuring the three different styles of lion dance: hoksan, futhok and futsan. The colours are from the story of the ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’, representing the three brothers.

Back to our shop performance series. This is ‘The Hungry Sea’, a seafood hotpot restaurant that desperately needed a rejuvenating. Read the story below that goes along with this illustration!

There was a lull in performances that month - the team was idle. This gave Jarrion time to help out in the kitchen that just opened across the road.

It became an immediate favourite of his for late night dinners, but it had seen better days. On a good night, three or four families would dine at The Hungry Sea. By month end, most of their employees had left for better prospects.

Jarrion cleaned and remodeled, redesigned the menus and refitted the tables. It helped a little - but not enough. The owners decided to close business the following week.

But Jarrion would not let them shut the doors forever.

It was time to wake the lion.
