how to make a wip playlist

hello and welcome back to my page! today’s post is exciting because i absolutely l o v e making playlists for my wip and characters. i know lots of you have playlists for your wip, but i’m sure many of you are wondering where to start, where to find songs that fit your wip’s vibes, etc. luckily for you, i’m here to help you with that :) let’s get on with the post!

characters

probably the first thing you want to brainstorm songs for is your characters. i prefer to make individual playlists for each of my main characters, but you can add these songs to your wip playlist as well. things to think about: their childhood, their personality, pivotal events in their life, their relationships, etc.

plot

the second thing you’ll want to find songs for is your wip’s plot. what songs would be playing during certain scenes in your wip if it was adapted into a movie? it can be helpful to think of your wip playlist as a soundtrack! for example, if your wip contains lots of battle scenes, artists like ruelle and valerie broussard have some very cool battlefield-type songs! if you’re writing a contemporary romance, find some fluff songs like cloud 9, or some angsty or sad breakup songs such as champagne problems or last kiss by taylor swift.

this is key to creating a perfect wip playlist! okay maybe this is just me since literally everything i do is based on ✨vibes✨ but you know what i mean. think movie soundtracks—the overall vibes of the song are just as important as the lyrics. is it ethereal or spooky? does it sound like a fairy could be playing this on a pink mushroom? does it make you feel like you’re standing on the battlefield with a sword in your hand? how does it make you feel?

where to find songs?

now you may be wondering, where on earth do i find songs that fit my wip ?? fear not, i’ve got you covered. i recommend using spotify because it gives you song suggestions to add to your playlist based on the songs you’ve already added to it! i haven’t used any music streaming app besides spotify so maybe there’s others that do this as well but yeah. you can also find playlists that other people have already made and choose songs from there! for example if you have a scene in which a character is running from the cops, you could search “running from cops” and a bunch of playlists with that title will come up, and you can listen to those and choose songs you think fit.

Album & EP Recommendations

Ghosts On Tape by Blood Red Shoes

For me, Brighton-based indie-rock duo Blood Red Shoes, consisting of drummer Steven Ansell and guitarist Laura-Mary Carter, have long been one of the UK’s most underrated bands.

From their angsty and raw early releases Box of Secrets and Fire Like This, to their moodier and more refined later releases like their eponymous fourth album and 2018’s Get Tragic, the duo have been pretty consistent with their output over the last 14 years. However, with last year’s brilliant Ø EP and the subsequent singles building up to this - the release of their sixth studio album - the band were threatening to be on the cusp of releasing their best work to date. Thankfully, they have made good on that promise as Ghosts On Tape is a cohesive and imaginative record, packed wall-to-wall with fun, atmospheric bangers.

From the get-go the pair will have you absolutely hooked in thanks to the incredible, ominous opener Comply. With its gentle piano melody, Ansell’s increasingly aggressive, distorted vocals and a growing pulse of dread that backdrops the track, it is a phenomenal starter track - the accompanying film for which you can watch above. From there, the band then launch into single Morbid Fascination, one of my top songs of 2021. A synth-driven banger with an infectious, buzzy guitar riff on the chorus, it is a mesmerising slice of the finest indie-pop. Recent single Murder Me then follows, propelled by a stinging guitar riff, a thunderous drum beat and a spooky bit of organ. If you didn’t expect it before, the duo let you know on this brilliant opening three track run that they fully intend to live up to the Ghosts On Tape billing.

The pair then keep the big tunes coming with the downbeat haze of Begging, the growling guitars of I Am Not You and the AM-era Arctic Monkeys thump of I Lose Whatever I Own also impressing. However if I were to pick two early favourites, the first would be the straight-up punk rock of Give Up, which comes complete with whirring synths and an oddly cinematic outro. The second would be the shimmering, synth-soaked majesty of Sucker, where Laura-Mary belts out the earworm chorus of “I’m a sucker for your love” over some wonderfully melodic instrumentation. That’s another key thing here, whether its Steven or Laura-Mary on vocal duties, every time you’ll get a powerful vocal performance where the tone matches the mood of the track just perfectly. By the time closer Four Two Seven rolls around with its clapping back-beat, menacing synths and eerie vocal textures, Ghosts On Tape will have long since won you over.

This is undoubtedly a career-best effort from Blood Red Shoes, with the pair pushing their sound into fascinating new territory whilst still managing to bring it altogether into a tightly sewn, coherent package. Ultimately it all makes for a mightily entertaining front-to-back listen - like hopping on a Ghost Train you’ll just want to ride on again and again.

Fix Yourself, Not The World by The Wombats

Elsewhere this week, The Wombats, another stalwart of the late-00s indie boom, also returned with their fifth studio album - Fix Yourself, Not The World (FYNTW). Much like Blood Red Shoes, the Liverpudlian trio have managed longevity where their peers of that era have long fallen flat. They’ve achieved this by pumping out consistently great records over the last decade, with each new Wombats album coming complete with a catalogue of excellent singles that would make most other bands green with envy. And this new record, aside from possibly 2011’s This Modern Glitch, represents arguably their most stacked release to date in terms of big hitters.

For fans of the band’s USP of dark, emo lyricism backdropped by gleeful indie-pop tunes, you’ll be pleased to hear that The Wombats mostly stick to that tried and tested formula throughout here. If you come for any adventurous sonic leaps then you will probably leave disappointed, however the stellar melodies, bouncy riffs and hook-laden choruses may be just enough to win you over – and there are plenty of those!

On the singles front, there’s the brilliant spiritual title track Everything I Love Is Going To Die, where frontman Matt Murphy delivers some typically sharp, lockdown-inspired lyrics over a catchy back-beat. There’s also the meaty, almost-grunge-like riffs of Ready For The High, which ends with some triumphant horn-playing towards the back-end of the track. If You Ever Leave I’m Coming With You then sees Murph lament depression putting a strain on his relationship, with a typically infectious chorus refrain and powerful lyrics like “Am I losing you in the dark, baby?”

However, out of all these great tracks, it is still lead single Method to the Madness that strikes the biggest chord with me, with it quickly becoming my favourite Wombats song the more I play it. Initially built on some downbeat, minimal instrumentation, the track steadily builds throughout, eventually erupting in a seismic final minute where Murph yells out the glorious refrain of:

“Fuck my sadness, and fuck your roleplay, No construction, I'll build it my own way, No more subscribing, and no reviews. Fuck our options, and fuck the life plan, No more worry, I killed it with both hands, Just give me something to light the fuse.”

It’s just brilliant and outside of the big singles there’s plenty of other great moments to enjoy too, such as the bluesy riffs of People Don’t Change People, Time Does and the psychedelic Madchester-style groove of Work Is Easy, Life Is Hard. The super infectious Wildfire is then arguably the best of the non-released tracks, with its instant chorus, hypnotic synth breakdown midway through and ultra-catchy central guitar riffs.

Although there are admittedly a couple of less memorable moments scattered in here too, for the most part The Wombats deliver the goods, with a particular strong middle section ensuring this one is still well worth your time. With several of their best tracks yet and plenty more festival-ready anthems to enjoy, this one is just great fun.

Are We Gonna Be Alright? by Fickle Friends

From old-school indie darlings to the new-school then, with Brighton-based quartet Fickle Friends also releasing their excellent sophomore album this week. Having broken out with their hit-laden first album You Are Someone Else which boasted no less than eight(!) singles, the band build on the success of that debut with Are We Gonna Be Alright? 

Their knack for writing a killer hook remains at the fore, but their songwriting and sound has noticeably matured too, with the band not always taking the obvious route and more inclined this time around to move their songs into unexpected territory instead. With their debut mostly synth-driven, it’s also great to hear some big and bold riffs make an appearance all across this one.

From the shimmering 80s funk of opener Love You To Death, the glitchy pop instrumentation of Not Okay to the straight-up anthemic rock of Yeah Yeah Yeah, Fickle Friends frequently bounce between styles whilst still retaining their own identity. In terms of early favourites, it would be the pop-punk of Write Me A Song with its guitar-shredding chorus, along with the stunning piano-driven title track, which feels like a bit of an unintentional lockdown anthem.

All in all, this is a terrific second album from Fickle Friends with plenty of catchy tracks and noticeable growth from their previous effort – I’m already looking forward to the next one.

Fragments by Bonobo

Stepping out of the indie zone now and onto electronica, as musician/producer Simon Green, aka Bonobo, released his mesmerising seventh studio album this week, titled Fragments. Opening on Polyghost, a blissful, orchestral collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, this soon transitions into the wonderful electronic majesty of Shadows, with singer Jordan Rakei on vocal duties. The familiar sounds of Rosewood then arrive, with its soulful sample and laidback groove that remains one of my favourites on the whole record.

From there the album effortlessly bounces between the upbeat and the tranquil, with the string-drenched ambient sounds of Elysian, the playful whirring of Age of Phase and house track Sapien all standing out. The album then ends with the dance/soul mashup of Day by Day, a glorious collaboration with American musician Kadhja Bonet.

Whilst this one won’t set the world alight, Bonobo has still crafted plenty of fascinating soundscapes to explore, making for the perfect chill out record if you need one this week.

More Pressure by Kae Tempest (featuring Kevin Abstract)

Without a doubt the best single you’ll hear this week is the new one from Kae Tempest as they prepare their new album The Line Is A Curve for a May release. A wonderful collaboration with Brockhampton’s Kevin Abstract, it features both him and Kae delivering their spoken verse over an infectious synth-driven beat and tongue-twisting refrain of “more pressure, more release, more relief, more belief.” 

Utterly dazzling from start to finish and one I have already played countless time this week – roll on the album!

Nurture by Kyla La Grange

Singer-songwriter Kyla La Grange continues the build towards her much anticipated return with this beautiful new track. Deeply intimate and autobiographical, Kyla has said of the track:

“Nurture is the most personal song I've ever written - a storybook of relationships, from childhood to adulthood. I nearly didn't record it because it made me cry too much, and I was scared to release it because it feels so raw and exposing, but something about the writing of it felt very necessary for me - like it was a way of paying tribute to certain things and then closing a door on them, putting them to bed."

A must hear this one!

World’s Unluckiest Guy by Swim Deep

Also on the verge of a comeback are Brummie indie outfit Swim Deep, who this week delivered their brilliant collaboration with Australian singer Hatchie. With an instantly catchy chorus and some very welcome summery vibes, it is just the track to get you through those awful January blues.

Love Is Selfish by Jack White

And finally this week, having blown me away with Taking Me Back at the back end of last year as the first single from upcoming album Fear of the Dawn, music’s mad scientist has returned with another new track, this time the first single from his second album due out in 2022 – Entering Heaven Alive.

This first taste gives a slight glimpse as to what White might be plotting with these two new albums, with Love Is Selfish a stripped-back bluesy affair - a noticeable contrast to the rock-driven buzz of Taking Me Back. I’m not always a fan of the acoustic/electric split double albums, but if Mr. White keeps pumping out tunes this good, I might soon make an exception.

1. what’s the strangest/weirdest thing mun has watched on youtube? you know those raunchy parodies of rap songs and the versions where people are quite literally screaming the lyrics of songs? yeah, he watches that stuff a lot.

2. what’s the strangest/weirdest movie the mun has watched? i don’t know if he’s watched any movies that have been known for being strange, but a lot of the horror stuff he finds can get pretty creepy at times.

3. what’s your mun do when they become sad? do they hide it or talk about it? it really depends. most of the time, i think he hides it at first and then opens up when things start to go really wrong. it’s probably because he doesn’t want to feel like a burden.

4. how long does the mun stay upset for? again, it really depends on the issue. he does struggle with really bad mental health, so it’s possible for something to weigh him down for quite a while. i think a lot of it has to do with his willingness to communicate with others.

5. what’s your opinion of the mun’s fashion sense? basic bitch. well, more basic than me, but at times he does like to mix it up a lot and put jewelry together with a top that just...don’t naturally fit. i mean, have you seen the earrings he wears to class?

6. is the mun prone to mood swings? oh, very much so. one moment he’ll be so down to write, being all bubbly and completely running his mouth about the things he likes, the next he’ll get frustrated and upset and go to watch some funny shit on youtube or listen to music to hopefully help to stabilize his mood.

7. what was the strangest thing the mun has done that made the muse confused? doing kpop dances in the middle of his school’s hallway. that’s all i’m going to say.

8. does the mun like to shitpost/make funny posts a lot? he doesn’t shitpost a ton over here, but on his anime blog, i swear, sometimes the shit that he thinks of and comes out of his mouth is so strange that it’s just funny.

9. has the mun ever scared the muse? not in any particular way that comes to my mind immediately.

10. what about the mun does the muse find annoying or bothersome? sometimes he just can’t stop talking. i can never tell if it’s because of his ADHD or if he’s just excited about something, but sometimes he just completely interrupts my peace and quiet seemingly out of nowhere.

11. do you like the backstory your mun gave you? he didn’t really give me a backstory; he adheres to what my creators did for me. but he did give my sister a pretty nice name.

12. is mun a social butterfly or a loner? he’s a pretty social person, but he does have his moments. he likes to keep his distance, even though sometimes it’s hard for him to tell when he should be less energetic or give someone their space.

13. did you once not like your mun? if so, why? i don’t think i’ve ever actively disliked noah. he can be a bit obnoxious at times, but he’s a pretty cool dude.

14. do you wish your mun was more open to those around them? in real life and on tumblr? he’s pretty open with people in real life, but who am i to criticize him or even give him advice on the matter? i struggle with being open about who i am myself, so i don’t think it’s appropriate for me to judge him.

15. does your mun draw or write? if so, what work are they most proud of? he writes a lot and he does have some experience with art, but most of his focus goes into the things he writes. it’s hard to say what he’s most proud of, because he always describes his works as ‘short, sweet, and mindless,’ but i do enjoy whatever angsty stuff he writes. he says he’s not good with angst, but sometimes when i read his angst fics i can really get the sense of some things he may be struggling with in his unconscious. some of the things he writes just roll off the tongue, and in such a beautiful manner.

16. how long does it take your mun to draw/write a piece of work? it really depends on what he’s doing. an art piece, even a small sketch, can take him up to an hour, but his fics can usually take him between thirty minutes to two hours. his short and soft fics he usually spends about half an hour on, but his longer ones, like his angst and relationship fics, he can spend up to two hours on.

17. what other social websites does your mun use? other than tumblr, he’s probably most active on his anime twitter account as well as some discord servers he’s on, but he also has a facebook, instagram, ao3, and sparingly uses deviantart, reddit, pinterest, soundcloud, twitch, quotev, and wattpad.

18. who are the first 3 people the mun thinks about when asked for blog recommendations? obviously, the mun is a bit biased, so he’s gonna first off recommend his best friend’s blog orang3lover. they post a lot of cute memes and social stuff, and they follow each other on their main blogs. here in the tumblr rpc, he’s really been enjoying writing and interacting with demontragedy’s chikage, aka my lovely boyfriend, and gloomyheart10′s banri, who is the bane of my existence but miraculously still considered to be my best friend.

19. how many people are in your mun’s close-knit circle? he has a few friend circles actually. the one he interacts with the most would probably be his friend group from high school, but he also has a lot of friends, less of a circle, that he talks with a lot and hangs out with in college. this college friend group all consists of music majors, so he feels really at home with them. he does also have a few small friend groups online, but they’re pretty sparse and don’t have as many people as his irl friend groups.

20. how does the mun feel about their blog/blogs? i get the sense that he’s really happy with the blog he’s set up here in the tumblr rpc, but he has mentioned that with his personal blogs he wants to be a bit more creative about the content that he releases. his main blog is like 99% reblogs, so he wants to think about how he can release more original content that will attract more people to his corner of the internet.

21. what ask meme does your muse like the most? i don’t think he has a specific one, but he does like to reblog a lot of fluff-based sentence starters.

Next morning you woke up way too early for your liking. Unable to sleep when your thoughts kept you up at all times. Since it was way too early you decided to go for small run around the neighbourhood. Usually when you were at Ben’s place you tow together used to go for a run.

Afterwards getting dressed and folding the yellow sweater neatly on the back of the sofa you stumbled into the kitchen. Knowing your way around, you fed Frankie while making something for yourself before leaving. While you patiently waited for the tea bag to soak in the mug of water, you stood leaned against the kitchen island and looked out the window where later in the evening will be party. Your attention was at the pool where the morning sun was making the water sparkle.

“’morning.” Deep raspy voice made you jump. Turning around you saw Ben who was sitting at the other side of the counter and making himself a cup of coffee. In nothing but sweatpants.

“Good morning.” You smiled.

“Why are you up so early?” you asked him. If you were in his place after such long plane ride you would have slept all day. At first Ben didn’t answer, just got up and walked around you to pour water for his coffee. Then sitting back down he rested his elbows on the counter, holding the mug under his nose and staring at the counter.

“Well?” you asked with raised eyebrow. Ben was still debating on the answer.

“Nina snores like a bulldozer.” He said finally taking a sip of his coffee. His answer made you snort so loudly that it made Ben look up at you.

“Don’t tell her that I said that.” He quickly added with rise of his eyebrow.

“Never.” You smiled and took a sip of your own tea, then turned around to finish making your breakfast.

“What are you making?” Ben asked politely, while fishing his phone out of pants pocket.

“Belgium waffles.” You said, cutting up some fruit to go along with them.

“Can I have one?” He asked hopefully.

“You can have two.” You chuckled and turned around with plate of waffles in your hands. Seeing the food in your hands, Ben smiled like little boy first time in candy shop.

“Hell yeah…” He grinned putting down his mug of coffee. Both of you turned at the sound from the living room and the small padding of the feet.

“Hello…” you cooed at Frankie who had graced you two with her presence. But Frankie wasn’t the only one who graced your presence, because soon enough Nina showed up too.

“Where did you go, Boo? Left the bed all cold and empty.” Nina said yawning while coming into the kitchen. B-lining straight to Ben’s lap.

“Couldn’t sleep at such fine morning.” Ben looked at you. Then Nina looked at you:

“Good morning, y/n.” her eyes slightly narrowing at you, but then she noticed the waffles.

“Oh yummy.” She grabbed the fork and attacked the closest one she could reach. You only discreetly rolled your eyes and took a sip of your tea.

“Want one?” Nina smiled at Ben while seductively putting bite of waffle in her mouth.

“Maybe later, Nina.” Ben looked at his phone, appetite suddenly gone.

“I went for a run.” You started quietly.

“And?” Nina seemed uninterested by that.

“Without me?” Ben asked instead.

“You were sleeping, Ben.” You looked at Frankie instead of him.

“And I found the leash on the shelf and I took Frankie with me. So, you don’t have to take her outside for a while. She had so much fun running along and chasing birds.” You explained and wiggled your fingers at Frankie.

“You are a fucking gem, y/n. Thank you.” Ben seemed so thankful and genuinely happy for your help.

“I better get going.” You said noticing Nina’s expression and washing your mug.

With small nod you went back into living room to pull on your shoes and grab your stuff. You were almost ready to go when Ben stopped you.

“Hey. Why are you leaving so soon?” He asked, small smile playing on his lips. Damn, you were melting at that.

“You two probably have some catching up to do and I don’t want to interrupt your breakfast.” You answered politely.

“Well, for starters, it was mine and yours breakfast.” Ben smiled.

Was it, though? You wanted to ask. So, you opt for small chuckle and dodged it:

“I’ll be back for the party in the evening. See you then, Ben.” You wanted to hug him, already taking a step closer when your eyes jumped to the kitchen where Nina was leaning against the door frame, making you stop in your tracks. You decided that having an angry girlfriend on your enemy list wasn’t something you wanted.

“Okay, I’ll be going then.” You curtly nodded and went out the door. What you didn’t see was Ben turning towards the doorway and seeing how Nina ushered Frankie out of the kitchen to go back and finish your breakfast.

 Later that day you were getting ready for the party, when you received a message. At first you thought that it was from your girl squad, but checking your phone you saw that it was from Ben.

Biting your nails, you looked down at your phone:

y/n: is this something you want to talk about on the phone?

bEnJamiN: I would prefer to talk face to face

Shit, you weren’t ready last night, you are not sure if you are ready now. You really hoped that he would tell it on the phone, so you wouldn’t have to show your tear ridden face.

y/n: okay

bEnJamiN: I’ll see you at party and then we can talk. It’s not going to take long

y/n: you sound like my mum

bEnJamiN: someone has to be responsible

After that you didn’t answer. You weren’t sure what to tell him. With doubtful mind you were getting ready for the party.

  *****At the party

Well, you didn’t think that there would be this many people. You were getting ready for like ten to twelve people. But when you stepped into the house with your friends it added up to almost 27 people.

“This was not what I imagined when I planned this.” You said to Rose while walking into the mass of people.

“Who are half of theses people?” Maddie asked on other side of you.

“I have no idea …” you drawled out. Who was playing Awolnation’s Sail at the start of the party? You glanced around, trying to find some other people you recognized. But none. Everyone was yelling along the lyrics.

“Did Ben hire extras or something?” Rose asked pulling on your hand.

“Don’t know. No. Of course, not.” You said, trying to out-speak the volume of music.

“Hey, you go girls. I need to find Ben.” You decided to get things done. As the song changed to the Call my Name by Cheryl, you made your way through crowd, someone’s hand on your wrist stopped you.

“What?” you let out confused sigh.

“Hello, beautiful. From which side of the company are you?” some young man smiled at you. It was the first time you have seen his face.

“Do I know you?” you asked politely.

“I am Brad.” Guy smiled at you. Well, that’s a generic name- you thought. Also, was he trying to flirt with you or something, because it wasn’t going well.

“I’m Y/n.” You smiled but looked around, still searching for Ben in the crowd.

“So, what brings you here?” Brad asked.

“Friend.” You answered, eyes still searching.

“I hope just a friend.” Brad smirked. Damn it, you were here because of a friend, because of a friend on whom you have a fucking crush.

“Yeah…” you nodded.

“Care to join for a drink?” Brad asked. Honestly you were in no mood for a drink at the moment.

“Maybe later.” You tried to sound polite and not like total dick. Well, Brad didn’t take it too well.

“Come on, beautiful. One drink. With me.” He said stepping closer.

how tall are they?

she’s an even 5′3, and stopped growing around 8th grade.

how do they tend to dress?

her newfound fame hasn’t really affected her sense of style (or lack of??) to Zadie’s chagrin, but Sapphire is a fan of oversized shirts and fluffy sweaters with funny sayings or animated characters, and black leggings.

do they like how they look?

she thinks she looks pretty average. braces fixed her teeth, the only thing that made her super self-conscious growing up, but other than that, she doesn’t put herself in the same category as other ‘classically pretty’ girls… and yes, Shane has given her shit for that terrible way of thinking!

are they an only child or do they have any siblings?

2 (really young) siblings!! ryan, who’s five and doesn’t talk much, and mia who’s seven and does enough talking for the both of them! sapphire loves them both death but is also super glad she doesn’t have to live in the same house as them (she’s not sure what the heck her parents were thinking lol)

are they a morning person or night owl?

she’s unfortunately both. once she gets some lyrics or a melody stuck in her head, she up until the ass crack of dawn trying to piece it together. BUT she also likes early mornings and having a full day ahead of her so not much sleep happening

are they a cat person or a dog person?

neither! she’s a gerbil/rodent person!! Over the course of her life, she’s had three hamsters, a rat, and a guinea pig (her last pet that died before she left home officially)

got any favorite foods?

anything cheese flavored: popcorn, chips, crisps, crackers, you name it, she likes it! also loves dried cranberries (read: ADDICTION) 

how about favorite drinks?

cranberry juice (go figure!), apple juice, grape juice…she still buys the packaged-for-kids drinks at the grocery store honestly and pretends it’s for her brother and sister 

what are their favorite movies/tv-shows?

shonda rhimes is her favorite person in the WORLD, so grey’s anatomy, scandal, and how to get away with murder are on her watch list 25/8. she likes the food network as background noise too. as for movies, if she’s in an angsty mood and wants to cry, she’ll pop in the edge of seventeen, otherwise, it’s musical-city and hairspray, sound of music, or the last five years

do they have any hidden talents?

she can tie a cherry stem into a knot with her tongue and burp the alphabet (both of which she’d never demonstrate unless she’s super comfortable around the person)

in the movies? yes of course! in real life? not a chance

who is their love interest?

Shane Parker, an utter sweetheart who she never realized she had more than platonic feelings for (AND who is a cousin to my other MCs Izzy and Meghan lol!) but she doesn’t deny that Raleigh and Avery are both attractive!

what are they afraid of?

the dark. lol. she’s twenty-three years old and still sleeps with a night light; in this case, a solar-powered flashlight that sits on her dresser, a replacement for the star-shaped light her siblings accidentally broke…

what are their guilty pleasures?

if you don’t watch her, she will literally devour an entire bag of frosted animal crackers in one sitting.

what was their dream job as a kid? is it still their dream?

to make it as a professional singer….and lookie loo, definitely seems like she’s making it!

she broke her collar bone when she fell out of a tree at the park in first grade! she was trying to reach the frisbee she, Shane and their group of friends had been playing with.

nah, Sapph is a good noddle (she didn’t even participate in her senior prank day back in high school!)

    Hi, guys. My name is Zyra. I run the blog rpmemestbh, which will soon be changed to something less dumb-sounding.

     I just wanted to make a post to remind you all that I am a real person, with real feelings, and I do not deserve to be told to kill myself and/or delete my blog because of sentence starters I make for roleplay. 

     After dozens of these messages yesterday I strongly considered deleting this blog and even my RP blog. But after sleeping on it, I realized something -- this is a hobby. This is for fun, and I enjoy roleplaying and I enjoy making memes for you guys. 

     I realize that some topics I post about will be controversial, angsty, and upsetting. I’m doing my best to tag common triggers, and made a masterlist that you can read right here. Again, I do not deserve to have rumors spread about me, so I thought I’d give you guys a few facts. 

-I have multiple issues in multiple areas of health including GI, cardiac, endocrine & nervous systems.

-I also have a few mental health issues including depression/anxiety disorder and anorexia. 

-I am actually not very easy to upset. It takes a lot to bother me. Being called out on multiple people’s blogs and having lies spread about me WILL upset me.

-Most importantly, I NEVER have the intention of making fun of other people, glorifying any kind of traumatic event or illness. NO EXCEPTIONS. I don’t think these situations are funny, or cute, or something to be joked about.

THAT BEING SAID,

     Everybody has something they won’t roleplay. Whether it’s car accidents or domestic abuse or eating disorders or miscarriages, pretty much everybody has something that’s off-limits. That’s okay. I respect that, and other people should respect that as well. However, it is not okay to tell someone that they can not roleplay a certain situation. It is okay to ask them to tag things, or to unfollow them, but you have no right telling them what to put on their blog unless it affects you DIRECTLY. Being triggered or offended by something does not count because it was not put out there with the intention of hurting you. 

     Some people ( like myself ) use roleplay as a way of coping. A quick example is having my muse have eating disorder habits so that I still feel like I have a way to channel them or act on them without actually hurting myself. 

     I’m sorry this was so long, and kudos to you if you actually read everything (I probably wouldn’t in all honesty. I’d be like tl;dr) but please accept the following apologies & facts:

I am a real person with real emotions.

I am a fellow roleplayer just like you all. 

I do not hate any group of people.

If you do not like my blog, please unfollow. 

But please do not spread rumors and hate towards me.

In addition, please do not send ANYBODY hateful messages, including anyone who sends me an ask that I post.

I put the facts above about my medical issues, etc. in an attempt to show that I am not some super privileged person that can’t empathize or sympathize with negativity.

Some topics are touchy, some should not be joked about. Posting a meme that involves car accidents is not me making fun of people who have been car accidents or joking about the serious injuries and scars they leave, mentally and physically.

I am going to make some minor edits to this blog’s theme, rules, etc. and it is going to be dash-only for a short time while I fix some things.
