Note
multiples of 5 from the fic writer ask game!
aah thank you!!
5. Great Fluff Piece
ha, i'm realizing now that i don't read a ton of pure fluff...but how about skin scratches and horn balm by lunaro? it's a really cute Wyll/Tav fic that's very loving and tender, it's perfect if you're in the mood for sweet fluff!
10. Fic(s) you would/did create fanart for
I am not an artist of the drawing type, but I’ve made aesthetic boards inspired by all the characters of the God Squad, aka the Pillars of Eternity ttrpg campaign I did with @starlightcleric @rannadylin and @serenbach86 (playing the Yarrow the Magranite, Idalia the Eothasian, and Ona the Waelite respectively!)
They’ve all got really great characters that were so fun to play with!
15. Fic(s) that inspired you to write
i had to dig through my bookmarks a bit for this one, but The Krynn Institute by artandstarsstuff! It's a Magnus Archives AU for the critical role characters from campaign 2- it's really fun and well-done read, and i loved the way the AU elements were incorporated, and it really got my wheels turning on the concept that would eventually turn into The Dunryd Archives!
20. Fic(s) you used to reward yourself (ie: “When I finish this chore/homework/task then I can read that”)
Currently I’m planning to catch up on West Wind by @dujour13 and start The Hanged Man by @herearedragons once I finish my errands and finally have some free this weekend! I’m really looking forward to both!!
25. A fun writer quirk you’ve noticed (Specific word(s) they repeat, detailed setting description, a lot of adjectives, trope they write really well, etc.)
Hmm, it's hard to pick one without a specific writer in mind? but i will say that i love when a writer has similar themes and moods across their different stories, it's so fun seeing everyone's different favorites!

Your body felt thick with sleep as you awoke. Limbs still a little heavy, only barely breaking through the last vestiges of your dream… You were barely aware of the rustle of sheets from below, a hand going up to shield your eyes from the sunlight. The curtains had been opened—something you were usually responsible for at the start of the day, whether or not you had slept in your own room.
Not that this was your room.
Soft, silken sheets of a far higher quality of your own; lavender-laced curtains… Dead give-aways.
This was the prince's room.
And last night, he was all over you.
In you.
The heat of his body was flush against yours, all his touches both intentional and needy, sultry movements of his hips to thrust himself deeper, and deeper, and deeper… Slowly the details began to flood back into your memory, effectively having your body heat up at just the thought of it. And then you heard it—you felt it. Nimble fingers trailing over your thigh, something wet, and slimy, a familiar feeling as he languidly licked a stripe up your core.
With a gasp, your hands reached down, finding purchase in those soft tufts of white-brown hair you loved so much.
“Xavier—?!” Still groggy with sleep, you could feel the haze in your own voice, but you blinked yourself awake at the sight below you.
Xavier’s eyes seemed to sparkle with mischief.
He had his hands prying you open, spread for him to see the very evidence of your arousal, and rested his cheek against your thigh. As if to make a point, his tongue darted out to give another lick—almost like a test. And you noticed that his face had already been covered with your slick.
“Good morning, angel,” he murmured with a smile. He had the audacity to nuzzle against your skin, quite obviously taking delight in the way your face flushed a bright red.
“H- how long have you… ah—”
You gasped as he pressed your thighs against your chest, spreading you more obviously open for him to enjoy. Again he leaned back down to lick at your folds, circling the tip of his tongue at your hole, and you jerked with the slight sting of sensitivity.
Sensitivity that couldn't have been there, unless…
“H-hey! Xavier… Wh— H-have you been doing this the whole morning?!”
He chuckled this time, hands moving to massage gentle circles at your thigh. You could see him run a thumb over the red mark he’d left on you just last night, and a shiver ran through your spine at the touch. “Should I… not do that?” he tilted his head. Slowly, his fingers began to move back closer and closer to your glistening heat. Your breath caught in his throat; he looked so innocent despite the way he would easily pull you into the palm of his hand.
“No, it’s not that, just… I-I didn’t think you’d wake me up like this…”
He smiled. “Mm.”
This time, he let your legs rest back upon his mattress, and he slid up your body, the familiar heat of his skin melding with yours.
“My lady…” he murmured. His eyelashes fluttered against your cheek lovingly, lips barely touching your skin, teasing a kiss before resting his forehead against yours. “Ahh… It’s just, I like staying between your legs. It’s nice. And… I like tasting you. And when you cum, I like watching the way you flutter…”
His voice was so soft. He spoke so genuinely, despite the mirth laced into his voice, despite the dirty words that fell from his lips. He could say it like it was normal.
He had come to be like this with you.
Not that being used to it by now made you feel any less embarrassed about it.
“My prince, please,” you huffed, feeling your face heat up. With a whine, you poked at his chest, effectively getting him to roll off of you and settle for pulling you into his arms.
You savored the moment.
His arms wound tightly around your shoulders, and despite the more indecent way he’d woken you up, there was comfort in being so close to him, comfort in waking up next to him. His presence, as always, exuded warmth in every possible way—you didn’t mind when his leg slid up and around you, pulling you closer, closer, locking you in his embrace.
Xavier was clingy.
And later today, he would be back in a meeting with his parents, not at the academy with you. And that was enough of a reason for him to be even more so.
“My liege…” you murmured into his chest, nuzzling against him to offer some form of comfort back—at least, as much as he always gave to you.
He shook his head.
“Not that,” he mumbled.
You smiled,
“My prince?”
Another shake. “Not that, either.”
You lifted your head to meet his gaze, leaning in for a quick, feather-light kiss.
“Xavier,” you whispered.
And he smiled.
“Xavier,” you said again, with more conviction, feeling your heart flutter at the way his eyes seemed to shimmer. “Xavier.”
“Just Xavier,” he murmured. “When I’m with you… I’m just Xavier.”
Your eyes closed for a moment as he placed a loving kiss on the tip of your nose, and then you chuckled. “Okay, Xavier,” you emphasized his name to appease him, ignoring the frown that formed on his face when you pulled away. “You have your duties, and I have mine. We should get up, no?”
“It’s early,” he huffed.
“You need to be early.”
“But I want to stay with you…”
“And I want to lay in a bed of roses. We don’t always get what we want, Xavier. Not even the Prince of Philos.” You grinned this time, leaning back down to return his earlier kisses with a tap on his nose. “Up. You know we can spend some more time together when you’re free again. Besides… I, too, have those training sessions to get to…”
With a groan, he sat up with you, almost pretending to be sleepy by making a show of rubbing his eyes.
You scoffed. “Oh, come on. As if you hadn’t been clearly wide awake and working me up between my legs… You woke up earlier than me!”
“That's different,” he insisted. “That was relaxing for me. Just as last night, you’re always the most wonderful when you—”
You shoved him by the shoulder with a laugh, finally standing up from the bed and making to go and shower. You weren't surprised at the huff of indignance he let out, but you paid no attention to his sulking. The running water felt cool against the your skin—it was a nice contrast to the heat still coursing through your veins. Different from his touches, naturally, but welcome nonetheless, especially since he'd been quite busy with your pleasure mere moments ago.
Not that you hadn't enjoyed it.
Every brush against these marks on your skin had you tingling, flashing memories in your head of how his teeth would nip, how his tongue would glide over you… how he'd painted his release all over you, the sheer bliss at feeling such of the extent of the love the two of you shared.
You did enjoy it.
And if he had been craving it, you couldn't deny that the same was true for you.
With the shower tap closing and the curtain being drawn, you stepped out of the shower to gaze at your reflection in the mirror.
This was what it was like to be his.
You thought that you wouldn't trade it for the world.
There was a smile on your face as you stepped out, casually covered in one of the spare robes he kept neatly to the side for nights you would spend over with him. "Xavier, if you aren't up from your bed yet, you really should—"
Your gazes met.
For a moment, the air seemed still. His eyes raked over the shape of your body, almost so to have you loosening the grip that held his robe together.
"A shame… If only I could mark you where they could see…" You watched as he made his way over to you, wrapping his arms around you in that same, familiar manner, and burying his head into your neck. “Mm, you’re just so beautiful."
And you couldn’t help it.
You leaned back into him, allowing his hands to trail back down over your body, loosening the robe, the pads of his fingertips grazing your skin to leave goosebumps in your wake. Again. Just as he had done that evening. Each careful caress all over you, pressing into your skin as if to leave another mark of his love—nothing visible this time, but rather felt, for though the bruises below your collarbone could have sufficed, he would always be keen on doing much more than that.
Now, his hand made it between your thighs, tracing over your folds and almost dipping inside—
Almost.
“Your Highness,” you whined at him, promptly snatching his hand away.
The puppy-like gaze he gave you could have made you melt—in any other circumstance.
“Your Highness,” you repeated, firmly. “Hands off, be a good boy.”
Something like a smirk graced his features. “Are you ordering me around?”
“Yes.”
“A knight to her prince?”
You scoffed. “A lady to her lover.”
And at that, his expression softened.
Those were not often words that you said out loud.
Lover—a word so sacred, a word so pure. To call yourself the prince's lover was near suicide; a knight such as you could never truly be befitting to stand beside him at the throne.
It was not something you did often.
Xavier knew this.
"If that's so," he said gently, "then I'd be inclined to yield."
You shook your head slightly, and then before he had the chance to speak—or do—anything else, you stepped away from him to sift through his closet for one of those suits he’d always worn on days like this. With a pointed look you held it out, and it was near comical how his eyes lit up with barely-contained joy.
“Will you be helping me dress, then, my lady?”
As with anything Xavier said, his words carried with it an air of earnest innocence. Yet even the simplest things had your heart rate spiking if only for a moment.
“You do not need my help to dress…”
“Mm, perhaps so… But I would like it.”
"An order?"
"No, but a request. From a gentleman to his lover."
He followed you only to lean in and nip at your earlobe, and it was one last means to tease before he stepped back from you only to take his turn to shower.
Cheeky.
That was one way to describe him.
Xavier just did things, and said things, and you had to wonder if all princes were every bit as lofty as he could be, but—truly, how could you say no to that?
You wrapped his robe back around you a little more tightly, mumbling under your breath about how unfair he was, before reaching for your own uniform.
Having been carefully kept aside with last night's activities, Xavier had taken to neatly folding them up by the bedside table.
It made you smile.
The Prince of Philos was ever kind.
And though dressing yourself meant putting to rest the last remnants of his touch, it brought you back to the reality of what you were. Just as you'd said just earlier—you had your duties, and he had his. No matter that you were His Highness's closest aid, the fact remained that the two of you lived different worlds. At times, it was difficult to comprehend just how you'd gotten this far… And yet, last night was more proof of it than you could ever hope for, more proof of it than you could ever dream of.
You carefully arranged your skirt, looking towards the mirror in the room to adjust the fit of your uniform.
This was what it looked like to be his.
The door to the bathroom opened.
With another turn, you padded the room to give him a little kiss on the lips, before making through with your promise—
His hand grabbed your wrist, and he smiled.
"Just one kiss?" he spoke, and his eyes danced with mirth. You could tell that he was teasing.
You rolled your eyes. "What would you prefer me do?"
"A little more. Please?"
Xavier was clingy.
You knew that he had every reason to be, and perhaps that was one of the reasons you indulged him so easily.
Or, perhaps, you had need for it just the same as he did.
His arms locked around your waist, drawing you close as the soft touch of his lips against yours made you melt.
He was gentle, this time—not quite the neediness he'd displayed earlier in the morning, but he kissed you with such tenderness, such love, that it took a while before you were able to separate and… process.
Cheeks flushed, you took a step back from him and turned back to his closet to gather his clothes.
From then on, there was silence.
Towel off as he slipped on his underwear, you were careful with your movements, his trained eyes watching you fit his shirt over his torso. You didn't dare meet his gaze, not like this—instead, you remained adamant on giving attention to dressing him, fingers nimbly fixing the cuffs of his sleeves, trailing up to the buttons…
Perhaps, it was the silence that made this feel more intimate than it should.
Perhaps, it was the obvious pull you had over one another, still quite unable to get over the night that you had shared.
There was proof of it, too—not only on your body, but on his. Small, red marks on his chest, littering around like specks of starlight on his pale skin… You couldn't help but reach out to touch them, running your fingers over him in a manner reminiscent of the way he'd done with you, and…
Ah, you thought—this was difficult.
He was neither saying anything nor doing anything, simply allowing your exploration of his body, yet you cleared his throat and deftly brought his shirt to a close. Your hands fixed the clasps and pins on his collar, and as you handed him his trousers, you reached over to gather his coat.
"You know… I am not to train with you today," he spoke, quietly. The first word he'd spoken since.
"…Mm." You slid the coat onto his arms, and watched as he rolled his shoulders back to adjust its fit. "I know that. They've called you to the palace."
"I may be gone, for, perhaps, the entire day…"
You buttoned up his suit, carefully beginning to place the little pins and tassels, and you couldn't help but wonder just how it was that he wore these without feeling an ounce of discomfort—or, at least, showing it.
"I know that, too."
"Starlight."
You looked at him.
"The brooch is on wrong."
You faltered.
"…I know that, too."
He smiled as he watched you fumble with such a simple, menial task, and while your cheeks flushed with embarrassment, his hands met yours to help you with it.
"Let me. Before you prick yourself with it."
When you stepped back, you watched him turn to the mirror with any last-minute fixes, and reached towards the table to slip on his gloves.
Looking at him like this, you felt a lump form down in your throat.
It was different from seeing him in uniform—like this, he looked every bit the part of the crowned prince of the nation. Handsome, charming, gentle… Just like every prince should be.
And just as earlier, you felt your heart tear in uncertainty, the reality of his stature laid before your very eyes.
You spoke, and your voice was quiet.
"Your Highness."
He didn't reply. You could see a small frown on his face in the mirror.
"Your Highness." You tried again.
"No."
Ah.
"Xavier."
He looked at you, then.
As if he'd been sure of what you'd been thinking; as if, although he wouldn't speak of it, he would reassure you that you were his, and he was yours.
You let out a slow breath.
"Thank you."
Your head bowed the slightest, gaze averting to your feet.
"Even just to stand a half step behind you, protecting you… It would have been enough. Yet still I have the privilege to bask in your love. Enough, that… Even amidst all this secrecy, I—there's nothing I could want more."
You saw soft footsteps make their way towards you, and when he spoke, his voice was gentle.
He spoke in this way to comfort you.
"If your vow is to protect me," he murmured, "then mine is to protect you. If your vow is to love me… then, so, too, will my vow be to love you. You are not behind me. You're with me."
A finger placed under your chin nudged your gaze upwards, blue eyes once again latched onto yours.
"Whatever the meeting they've called me for, nothing will change. I'll be by your side, always. Believe me."
And believe him, you would. Because it was all that you've ever done. You didn't know how to do anything else.
"Waiting on His Highness?"
You turned as a figure hoisted himself over the stone balustrade you were sitting on, settling down beside you. Familiar brown curls and the same uniform that you were wearing, he was easily recognizeable. His gaze angled towards the front as he leaned back, legs stretched and hands supporting him in his seat. "Geez… It's not everyday you get to see students littered around at this hour, but I must admit. There's some pretty views out here!"
He swung his feet a little, a satisfied smile on his face as he observed the entrance of the academy bathed in the glow of the sunset.
But when you didn't say anything, he turned his head to look at you, blinking curiously. "No, but really. It's Xavier, right?"
This time, you smiled.
When you turned away from him, you, too, looked at the front, scanning the gate and listening for any of those telltale hooves of horses, or rhythmic footsteps of palace guards…
Anything to signal Xavier's return.
"He's been at a meeting," you shrugged. And you tried to keep it under wraps that this was much later than you'd expected him to be occupied, you tried to keep it under wraps that you'd been feeling a little disappointed that he wasn't back yet.
Keyword: tried.
Perhaps it was a curse that the Vice Captain was just as observant as the prince himself.
"Hmm, but you've been out here for a while…" You could feel his gaze on you, almost scrutinizing, if you'd believed Jeremiah to be like that.
But you knew him a fair amount. He'd been your training partner on multiple occasions, and he had quite the reputation for being on the friendlier side amongst the Starhunters. Despite his more dramatic ways of framing things, he'd always meant well—both for you, and for Xavier. And while he didn't know of the relationship the two of you shared, a little part of you was fond of him for all he's done to help the prince nonetheless. You'd felt as if, that way, he's helped you, too.
A pause, a little hesitation, before you sighed. "Mhm. Not quite sure when he'll be back, but, you know… It's a little bit expected for me to be out here when he does. I suppose."
Not that you minded. You'd want to wait up for him, too.
"Do you… fancy him?"
Jeremiah's question made you freeze.
"I'm sorry?"
"Prince Xavier. Do you fancy him?"
His tone was not one that was accusatory, but purely laced with curiosity. Again, though you didn't look back on him, you could feel his gaze steely on you.
"W- what makes you think…? I'm—I'm just his knight."
"Well, and his training partner."
"You've been my training partner, too."
"Not as much as he has, though… Haven't you shared the same teacher?"
You looked at him with a huff, and that smirk on his face almost made you regret that decision.
"Jeremiah—"
"Look. I'm not gonna pry, because if you do like him, then that's on you… and him, I guess. But I've seen the way you look at him. Maybe nearly everyone else seems to think you hate each other, but it's always seemed the opposite case from what I've observed."
"Why are you bringing this up, anyway?"
The light in his eyes seemed to flicker away, his mouth pressing into a thin line. "I heard rumors."
His answer was short.
Vague.
With how the conversation was going, you'd think those rumors to be speculations of your relationship, but it didn't add up—Jeremiah had just said it seemed you two had an unspoken rivalry.
In your head, you could thank Xavier's constant invitations to spar with him for that.
"What… rumors?"
"Well, the meeting. He's been summoned to the palace, right? There's been talks of an arranged marriage, and… Well, you know. I have my suspicions about the meeting being related to that."
Oh.
Something in his words stirred uncomfortably in your stomach, and your gaze moved from his face back down to your feet.
An arranged marriage.
Of course there was an arranged marriage.
"We both know Xavier's of Royal blood." Jeremiah continued, but his voice carried a softer tone, and he nudged at your arm in a means to somehow lighten the mood. "I mean, we all know that. And, you're an official knight, and everything, so I'm sure you know that really well. So, it's just… like that."
You let out a slow breath.
"…Yeah. It's just like that." You could mumble out the words, yet saying them out loud did little to soothe the discomfort—instead, it made them sound all the more real.
Whatever words he'd said to you this morning, whatever words he'd said to you the night before—sweet words, loving words… He meant them, you knew that he did. But that wasn't the issue. Because often times, even a prince had truly too little of power to act against the monarchy—and Xavier wasn't even on good terms with his family in the first place.
If a marriage had truly been arranged, he'd have had little say in the matter.
Neither did you know if he truly would sacrifice so much just for you.
"You okay?"
Jeremiah pulled you out of your thoughts, and only then did you realize the way you'd been carelessly wringing your hands in an effort—that clearly failed—to distract yourself.
You offered a sheepish smile, "Yeah."
And while he seemed doubtful, he no longer pushed.
Instead, he got up.
"Well, anyway. Just food for thought. Listen, I'm not going to stop you from liking him… But just be careful, okay? I'd advise you not to get too attached. For your own good. As your friend, I care about you, too, you know?" He gave you a reassuring pat on the back, and then he stretched.
There was a wistful smile on his face.
"Geez, I know how it feels, though. There's just something about being so close with a member of Royalty. When it dawns on you, you really realize that you're worlds apart…" he shook his head. "You know what they say. Perhaps the prince is like a star in the sky, meant to be adored from afar."
You placed your hands nearly on your lap, and watched him move back over the balustrade and onto the path of the corridor. "Leaving?"
"I'd stay and keep you company, but His Highness might get the wrong idea," he laughed, shaking his head.
And though he made to walk away at that moment, he paused.
With a little wink, he gestured to you—"Though, hey! Nice fighting today! Always a pleasure to train with you."
You rolled your eyes, but a smile peeked at the corners of your mouth. "Go flirt with your other girls, Jeremiah."
He grinned. "Flirt? No idea what you're talking about, milady!"
And in a few moments, he was gone.
You turned back to the gate, running over his words like a record.
Perhaps the prince is like a star in the sky, meant to be adored from afar.
And maybe, you realized, Jeremiah was exactly right.
But you wondered who would have been lonelier that way—the star at the top, or its gazer down below.
That night, you walked to your dorm alone.
The pattern repeated itself.
Several days had already passed, and night after night you would find yourself waiting at the front of the academy… to no avail.
You could go to the palace yourself.
It wouldn't be unwelcome; you were not forbidden, nor was it unusual.
Yet, something in your deepest instincts told you not to.
And the rest of the knights had nothing to say about his whereabouts.
"So you're still waiting."
You didn't need to turn around to see who was talking; this was a voice you'd come across much more often as the evening neared.
"As his knight, I would," you replied, plainly.
And again Jeremiah moved to sit beside you, would spent a couple of minutes out of his day to keep you company for a while.
You'd suspected this to be similar.
Yet—
"Not this time."
Instead of actually sitting down, he offered his hand for you to take, and only then did you look at him inquisitively.
"Huh?"
"Well, it almost looks as if you haven't done anything for yourself lately. I'm just looking out for you!"
"But, if the prince comes back and I'm not present to greet him—"
"He'd be back with palace guards with him—"
"But I promised I'd—"
"Miss, with all due respect, I don't think His Highness would have wanted you to wait on him like this everyday, either."
Your mouth shut.
Jeremiah had an eyebrow raised, a very pointed expression on his face that made you feel a little sheepish.
In some ways, he was right. You had been prioritizing awaiting his return, and as a result of that, your own personal joys had fallen a little bit neglected. These days, your trainings and classes were the only joys you could find—little sparks of conversations here and there, and occasional check-ins from Jeremiah himself, too, but…
You found that it was difficult to find all that much joy without him.
You knew it was stupid.
You knew it was dangerous.
If Jeremiah had been right, and Xavier had gotten caught up in the plannings of an arranged marriage, then, you—what was your place, but that of a knight?
A knight, whether close to His Highness or not, was not truly required to wait after hours simply for his return. Not that you were overstepping your boundaries, but it was not a duty that was needed. You had been doing this of your own accord; using duty as some feeble excuse both for yourself and for others.
Jeremiah had warned you not to get too attached.
You knew, deep within your heart, with all the love that you had for him…
It was already too late for that warning.
The least you could do, you supposed, was take it easy, just a little bit.
Slowly, you stood up, using his arm as leverage to stand, before dusting off the skirt of your uniform. Your expression softened. "Yeah. Right. A few moments… A few moments shouldn't hurt."
"Of course it shouldn't!" he scoffed. "Come, quickly. I've heard from Sarah that you haven't had any starbread for days now, and it's supposed to be your favorite. She's worried about you!"
The last time you'd spoken to Sarah had been yesterday. She had been your training partner that day—one of your other friends amongst the Starhunters, a headstrong individual you enjoyed spending time with.
And she'd been right.
Perhaps, you'd barely eaten much the past few days, but it had included your avoidance of the cafeteria's starbread your friends had known you to adore.
Unintentionally, of course.
But now that Jeremiah has mentioned it, you suddenly missed the fluffy taste that melted in your mouth, and a small smile formed on your face as you allowed the male to drag you towards the cafeteria.
It was past dinnertime.
It would be closing soon.
"Okay, stay put. Don't you dare think of going back there just to check on the gate again. I'll be quick and get you one!"
It was his own way of offering you comfort.
You saw him.
Jeremiah had gotten you your starbread as it began to rain, and while you were able to offer a thank-you in return for his kindness, he was off in the direction of his dorm area with a barely-discernible mumble of panic.
The raindrops were loud.
You watched his figure retreat before you looked out of the stone hallway, pattering drops making splashes onto the ground.
Uncomfortable.
Rain had never been your most favorite thing in the world.
The star-filled sky was less visible now, a gloomy mist seemingly covering the campus you'd grown so fond of…
You saw him.
Before a split-second decision to step out into the rain, an umbrella was placed over your head.
You saw him.
"…Xavier."
The walk was silent.
Everything was silent.
Nothing more had been spoken as you walked back to his room, nothing more had been spoken as he reached for a towel to dry off your hair.
The warmth of his touch.
The warmth of his presence.
You felt as if you could melt at it, your eyes tearing up at the mere scent of his cologne that you'd spent days—weeks—without it near you.
Without him near you.
But you didn't speak.
Not even as he tried to meet your eyes, not even as he set the towel aside to hand you his robe—his robe—the very same robe you'd used on the day that he'd left.
Instead, he was the one who spoke first.
"You should take a shower, since you've been in the rain. You'll get cold, and uncomfortable…"
Still, his voice was soft.
It was almost as if everything could go back to normal like this—like nothing had changed, and this was still… Xavier.
This was still Xavier.
He'd promised nothing would change.
You believed him, didn't you?
"I'll… boil up some tea for you in the meantime."
He was taking care of you.
He'd been in the rain, too.
He had barely dried his own hair.
He walked over to open the bathroom door for you, before moving to search for the tea you'd always particularly liked.
But you were supposed to be the one doting on him.
"A prince…" Your voice was soft, barely a whisper, as you looked down. The soft carpets of his room allowed you to sink into the flooring, taking comfort in the feeling. "A prince should not be doing so many favors for his servants."
There wasn't a reply.
He'd paused, though—the rustling had stopped. you could tell.
You didn't raise your head to look at him.
"…Angel?" he murmured.
Ah.
"Since when… did you think about things like that with me?"
And this time, you didn't reply.
Your mug.
He'd saved your mug.
And in it was, as he promised, tea well-prepared in your favorite flavor.
Yet, it was still quiet.
He'd been sitting on his bed, reading, once you'd come out fully changed—he, too, had prepared one of his sleepwear for you to use for the time being, and though you were practically swimming in it, it was comfortable.
It smelled like him.
Slowly, you padded your way across the room to sit beside him, your mug in your hands as if to warm you. The rain hadn't stopped, pelts of raindrops hitting the window with no signs of stopping anytime soon. The view outside was just as gloomy—you could hear the gale of the wind hitting the panel, and you were more than grateful to be inside a building.
He shifted. The book was placed down.
"How have you been?"
You felt an arm wrap around your waist, and—and you couldn't do this.
Not like this.
Nothing will change.
But not like this.
"Xavier…" your eyes closed, and your voice pleaded with him not to pretend.
"Xavier, please. Not like this."
Not like this.
He pulled away from you, but your chin tilted upwards—there they were.
Those blue, blue, crystal blue eyes.
"Starlight. Are you okay?"
"…No."
It took every ounce of your strength just to whisper.
"What is it? If you need—"
"You were gone."
He blinked, looking at you carefully as you spoke.
"How long?" Your gaze dropped back to the ground as he released you. "Do you know how long it's been? It's been weeks."
"Angel…"
"I waited. I waited. But I hadn't heard a single word about you from anyone, and I thought—I thought, maybe, you wouldn't be returning anymore—"
"No… no, that's not it, angel, I simply got caught up with the matters at hand…"
You knew it was true.
You knew you were likely being unreasonable.
Yet the frustration building in your chest did little to help you.
"But you could have let me know somehow!"
This time the cry you let out felt choked out; unnatural. As if you couldn't understand why so much of you hurt, when this could easily be resolved if you could talk about this normally, and yet—and yet—and yet—
"It feels… It feels like you've been avoiding me."
Xavier didn't reply, and you took the chance to look up at him.
"I haven’t seen you at all since then. Since your meeting. It’s almost as if you’ve been avoiding me, so just, tell me I'm wrong. I heard from Jeremiah that—"
It was Xavier's turn to frown.
"Jeremiah? Have you been spending a lot of time with him? I saw him with you when—"
"That's what you get from that?! Just the mention of his name?!" you cried. "It's not even—he’s been keeping me company, Xavier. You know, like a friend? Like someone who cares?"
"…He gave you the starbread."
You buried your face into your hands.
"I'm trying to have a conversation with you!"
"I just wanted to—"
"Xavier… Did you even want anything from that night?"
You heard him draw in a breath. The silence that followed was deafening, the air around you delicate—as if your question had torn through the thickness of all that tension, and now… Now, it could almost shatter.
"This… is that what this is about?" he whispered. "Do you regret it…?"
There was concern in his eyes when you looked at him. And it felt real.
Just as real as the memories from that night, just as real as the marks he'd littered all over your skin, just as real as the fullness of him that you'd felt deep, deep inside you.
The first time.
The first time you had ever dared to go so far.
…You didn't regret it. You shook your head, despite the way your lower lip trembled as you prepared to speak again.
"I could never."
Your voice was barely a whisper.
"I wanted it. Of course I wanted it, Xavier, but… But did you?"
Yet you were met with another silence, and the very fact that there was no immediate reply had your heart shattering to pieces.
His answer did nothing to repair it.
"I wanted it," he murmured. "I did. But… I don't know it it's something we should have done."
Your head shot back up to look at him again, and this time, the tears you'd worked so hard to hold back began to fall.
"I can't believe you."
With trembling hands, you stood up, mug almost haphazardly placed back on his nightstand.
"How could you… how could you be so unsure about it when you… When we… We had sex, Xavier, and you…"
"My lady, you know that's not what I mean. I told you… You can always stay with me. You mean everything to me, it's just… It is not so simple right now. Give me time to sort this out."
"But how does that help us now?! Do you think doubting everything right now takes away the fact that it happened?"
"Angel—"
"You can't call me that right now!"
"But we knew this would happen. We both knew it, these risks, the complications of being in this relationship. We're not supposed to be together."
We're not supposed to be together.
In every sense of the phrase, you knew he was right.
You could have waited until he was king.
You could have waited—you could have waited.
You could have waited until he could act without the bars of higher authority.
Neither of you did.
You knew as well as he did that a secret love carried with it the risk of being torn apart.
We're not supposed to be together.
No, but you loved him.
And it was selfish of you.
But you did.
And hearing those words from his mouth felt something akin to a sword being stabbed to your chest.
We're not supposed to be together.
A final straw.
We're not supposed to be together.
"…I see."
You turned around and walked away.
This time, it was your fault.
You'd keep your responses short, limit them to greetings whenever you could. Though you would stay by his side whenever necessary, you wouldn't tilt your head up to gaze at him, wouldn't step a little bit closer. It had been days since your argument, and you had been the one to avoid him—or, at the very least, avoid him as much as you could.
You were a knight in service to him.
It wasn't as if you never saw him after that, but you'd kept your distance.
Perhaps you just needed time.
Xavier had asked for it—he wasn't stopping you, wasn't trying to breach the distance, kept the air between you stale just as you had been doing.
Perhaps he needed time, too.
The reality of your relationship was heavy, both on you, and on him—but, you knew, most likely more on him than you in the first place. He wasn't sharing the burden with you, after all. You knew you'd acted too rashly on your frustration that night. But, in this situation… With this atmosphere… Things couldn't go back to normal with just a good night's sleep. They wouldn't. Perhaps the both of you knew that.
You approached him first. The clocktower—he often went there to be alone. It was quiet, and peaceful… and in the evening glow of the moon, a certain sense of melancholy settled over it. Xavier rarely had moments of rest, not as the prince of a nation… Yet, here, you could see little glimpses of the person he wished himself to be.
The clocktower was a little sliver of freedom for him.
"Xavier."
You called him out, voice soft and carried by the breeze. When he turned, the flowers gathered in his hands brought a skip to your heartbeat.
Ah, he…
"I… didn't know how to give them to you."
Blues and yellows. Not particularly a bouquet, but almost enough to be one—small flowers circled around in his hands, tied by a dainty little ribbon…
Forget-me-nots.
The representatives of the planet of Philos.
Fidelity. Faithfulness. Love.
A promise.
"I'm sorry."
Those were the words he spoke as you approached to take the flowers in your own hands.
"No… I'm sorry."
You sat down on the brick-lined surface, him taking the spot beside you, and—you couldn't help it. Eyes closing, you leaned against his shoulder, nuzzling into the soft warmth you had come to love so much. His response was immediate. Fingers reaching up to run through your hair, loving strokes and a kiss against your forehead…
You missed this.
"Do you think…" you whispered, peeking upwards as you settled into him, eyes moving over the stars in the sky.
It was a quiet, clear night. The stars were plentiful.
Perhaps the prince is like a star in the sky, meant to be adored from afar.
Your hand reached out towards the stars, and your fist closed—you could imagine flicker of light in your hand, but you knew it wouldn't have been a star itself.
"Do you think… The stars are our of reach?"
Xavier held you close, nuzzling into your hair.
He didn't speak.
"You only ever see them when it's dark. When the sky is clear. It feels… fleeting, even for something we see every night. Temporary. As if they could sift through your fingers, if you could ever think to hold them…"
Your gaze moved from the sky and back to him, shifting to see him more clearly.
You didn't stop him when he dipped his head into your neck, placing soft, gentle kisses over you skin.
"Xavier," you said again, quietly. "Do you… think about me that way? About us?"
He let out a slow breath. It brought goosebumps to your skin, and you had half a mind that he'd intended to leave a mark on you right there—but he pulled away.
Brilliant blue eyes back on yours, and something like a wistful smile gracing his features.
"To be honest… I do."
It was an answer you expected.
He pulled you back to lean against his chest, and then, too, did his eyes drift upwards towards the sky.
"Because of how things are, it's very easy to end up losing someone you care about. I could make one wrong move and lose you. But… above everything else… there's no sense to the meaning of living if you aren't here with me."
You closed your eyes. The steady thrum of his heartbeat allowed you to hang onto his words, lulling you into the security you felt in your arms.
"If the stars are fleeting, my starlight… Then, I'd do my best to follow wherever you go. I'd want to." He sighed. "I'm sorry."
He said it again.
Something in your heart told you that his next words would be difficult to digest.
"You were right. I was avoiding you a little… but only because I didn't know what to do. I know there have been rumors. If you've heard them, then… you're hearing from me now that they are true."
"…Your engagement."
"An arranged one. I have yet to offer my acceptance of it."
A wry smile made its way to your lips.
So Jeremiah was right.
Yet as it stood—none of this had ever been anything he'd wanted.
The first time you met, you'd spent several years into your formal trainings without him.
The first time you met, you had your destiny laid out before you.
The first time you met, you pledged wholeheartedly, deep into your heart, that this was the man you would vow to protect.
But the first time you met, Xavier hadn't smiled at all.
He was the prince of Philos.
Rumored to ascend the throne, rumored to lead the country—he was, and always had been, held in such high, prestigious regard…
But the first time you met, Xavier hadn't smiled at all.
He'd never wanted any of this.
He didn't choose which family to be born into; he didn't choose the path that he now walked upon with chains around his ankles.
He didn't choose to be betrothed to someone else.
"I still choose you."
He chose you.
And yet the pain in his voice could only tell you that it wasn't an easy choice—
He chose you.
Because he would willingly chase after something so fleeting.
Perhaps, it was in a similar way that you had chosen him.
He let out another sigh, and his face buried into your hair. "I have little say in the matter, even if my heart had already made its choice long ago. I no longer know what to do. It's frustrating… and I'd distanced myself because of it."
This time, you shook your head.
"The truth is," you laughed a little bit, more at yourself, more out of pity, "I'd been selfish on my part as well. I know… I know that we'd started this together. I know that we've known from the very start that things might not go the way that we want it to… but…"
This time, it was you who sighed. "But still, I, too, choose you. I want you. And… I've always wanted you to know, that—this love, I have, for you… It's more than this situation calls for, and enough for me to believe that things will work out."
"Angel…"
"I think, maybe it's because I feel so strongly that I'd gotten so frustrated. Because sometimes… Sometimes, it feels as if you don't believe I could love you so much… that it would be easier for you to let me go now than to force me to go through all of the turmoil of seeing this through, when—when it is already too late for that."
Slowly, your turned your eyes back to look at him.
"My prince… it's too late for that."
His hand moved to silently tuck a strand of hair behind your ear, the intensity of his gaze nearly causing you to falter, but you didn't.
You couldn't.
You—
You had chosen him.
"Xavier, I love you. I choose to love you, and I choose you, and I choose everything else that comes with this choice, and… I know, I know that you love me back. I have never doubted it. But… Your Highness, believe me. I can love you the same way… I can love you just as much. Trust me to do so, and don't keep me in the dark about it. Please. Your Highness, believe me."
His forehead rest upon yours, and you knew that it was not easy for him to agree with you.
Xavier—always so willing to give you all of his love… yet when it came to him, he didn't know how to accept it.
And instead of words, his lips pressed back onto yours, hand gliding upwards to pull you into this love he had that he could only show you this way otherwise.
Your eyes closed, and he whispered:
"Please, my lady… Could you stay with me again?"
Warm water ran over your skin, a lull of comfort.
You weren't used to this—the way his arms, wet from the shower, wrapped around your torso, lavishing soap onto your arms, your chest… He was so gentle. The way he rubbed into your skin was soothing, already enough to make you melt.
And though the air around you stayed silent save for the rushing sound of water, you've never felt so… relaxed.
Xavier had insisted.
He'd claimed that you had spoiled him far too many times for him to count, and the least he could do was return the favor somehow.
But you didn't believe him, not really. You thought he always spoiled you. Even a glance your way was enough to fill you with joy—he just didn't know that. Despite all that you'd said at the clocktower a few moments ago, it was difficult to explain to him how much you loved him.
You leaned back, a soft sigh of satisfaction leaving your lips. As the motion put you back under the spray of the shower, your eyes closed, and he promptly reached out to lower the pressure.
This time, his hands were in your hair, gently easing your head back, rubbing his fingers into your scalp. It took a moment for him to reach for the shampoo, before he was spreading the bubbles over the top of your head.
Cherries.
The scent made you smile.
It was his shampoo he was using on you, and you found that you didn't mind at all—this was his scent.
This was what it… felt, to be his.
Careful touches massaged the soapy, sweet-smelling bubbles into the hair, precise with the pressure and precise with his movements. He was dedicated, and delicate—just right, just perfect.
In the end, he truly knew you just that well.
And his hands slipped down from under your hair, rubbing in circular motions. The pressure of the showerhead had been turned back up again, and while one hand took to shielding your eyes from the rinse of your shampoo, his other slid down to caress you.
To feel you.
Something told you he was holding back a little, both at his own expense and at yours—yet his hands stroked over your body under the pretense of rinsing, motions becoming a little more sensual with every second that passed. His thumb rubbed your hipbone, up and down, up and down….
And then his hand made it between your legs.
Soft caresses on your inner thighs, an occasional squeeze here and there…
By now he'd finished rinsing your hair, and rinsing the soap off of your body, and his chin rest on your shoulder.
He had both hands free.
One running over the side of your body—your arms, your waist, before moving up to cup your breasts… while the other edged tantalizingly close to your core, the heat of his touch almost making you want to press your thighs together.
Almost.
He pulled away.
That smile on his face was familiar—satisfied, and knowing, and just a little bit proud of himself. And up close like this, you could see every spark of joy in the depths of his eyes, every inch of skin you wanted to kiss. His hair stuck to his forehead, eyelashes wet with little droplets.
When your eyes met, he chuckled. It was a sound that echoed beautifully in his little shower space, warmth spreading through your chest almost immediately.
It was a blur from there. You'd hardly remembered it.
Shower aside, you'd found yourself straddling his hips, his body splayed out beneath you. Familiar silken sheets that adorned his bed rustled in disarray, and with a groan, his hips bucked up into you.
The gaze that he held was unique, only to you.
One of love—of want—of need.
"Beautiful," he whispered. "My starlight… you are beautiful."
Though his breathing was shallow, he reached up, cupping your cheek.
And you smiled.
"So are you, my prince." A slight, almost testing grind against his throbbing cock had his breath hitching, and his hand falls back down to grip the sheets.
Your eyes softened.
"Xavier…" you murmured. "Are we sure of this? For you, right now… is it worth it? Do you think so?"
He pulled you down for your lips to touch, an ever so slight peck—one to reassure—and he smiled back.
Soft.
Knowing.
This time, certain.
"It's worth it," he spoke. His voice rang true. "You're always worth it, angel." His hips rolled up against yours, and you could see the way he cherished the gasp you let out. "You always have been… you always will be. You are worth every pain and every struggle I might have to bear. So much so that if I am to die by your hands, then so be it. It would be an honor."
A slow breath fell from your lips, and you hadn't realized until that moment how much you'd been holding in. You shook your head, despite the giddy smile that had since formed on your features.
"Silly," you let out an airy laugh. "My liege, such devotion from a prince shouldn't be directed at his servant…" when he frowned, you reached over to ease the furrow of his brows, "…but rather his servant towards him."
This time you gathered his hands to pin back against his pillows, rolling your hips once more, sliding your folds over his cock—and you let out a shaky sigh.
"I'd say it back," you whispered. "You are worth every pain and every struggle I might have to bear… I would lay my life for you, my prince. My heart, and my body, and my soul… are all yours. And it is an honor."
You smiled, "Your Highness, believe me."
This time, he does.
You could see it in his eyes, in the way the tension in his body had melted away.
And when he smiled, you nuzzled against him—
And you slid down his body, taking his erection into your hands.
"A-ah, angel, what are— oh—"
You watched the tips of his ears flush bright red as you kissed at his thighs, grazing your thumb over the tip of his cock. The pre-cum that had oozed out had you spreading it over his shaft, coating him with wetness—and you took your time. Every movement was slow, and careful. You enjoyed his reactions, every little sound he had no choice but to let slip through.
"Angel—angel, please—"
A soft chuckle.
"An order?" you murmured.
He groaned as you leaned in to place tiny little butterfly kisses around his tip, and your eyes crinkled with delight.
His hips jerked—"N-no, just… a req—a request—" A gasp. "From… F-from a gentleman t-to his— his lo—ov—ahh—"
You could laugh with glee at how responsive he was, and, almost as if rewarding him for it, you opened your mouth, molding your lips around him and slowly sliding him into your throat.
The moan that he let out was beautiful.
Continued slow movements, you began to move your head up and down, up and down.
It didn't take long.
Perhaps it was the tease; perhaps it was how much he'd been holding back all this time—his hips lifted up slightly, pushing himself deeper into your throat, and your eyes shut.
"A-angel!" he cried. "Oh, my— my lady, oh— mnh, s-so good—"
Your hands ran delicately over his thighs as you sucked, bringing your head up to the tip and circling your tongue around it before taking his cock back into your throat.
His groans grew more frantic, his hips stuttered.
And then before you could think, and just as your fingers had wrapped back around his cock, every intention to stroke his length, his hand was firmly placed on the back of your head. He began pushing you—you'd take him deeper, as deep as you could, his hips rutting up into your mouth in a desperate frenzy.
You moaned around his length as your eyes closed, and you could feel the way he was throbbing.
"Ple— please— please, angel, starlight, I want— want to be inside you—" His voice was becoming hoarse. Less coherent.
He was losing himself in the pleasure, just as you'd wanted.
"Hnng— angel, please, I mis— m-miss you so bad, miss how warm, I— haah— ahh—!"
He cried out your name, his thrusts becoming more frantic.
And you pulled away.
"W-wait…!"
You wiped the slick off of your mouth and cherished the protest he'd only barely choked out. "You asked," you panted. "You asked me… You…"
You didn't finish your sentence.
He had spoiled you enough—you would comply with his every requests, and spoil him.
In an instant your warm, wet walls sank down onto his length with a lewd squelch, greedily taking all of him. You leaned forward, moaning—"Xavier. Xavier… Xavier…"
He choked on his moans as you began to bounce over his cock, desperation just as well matching the way he fucked up into you.
Not enough.
Not enough.
Your movements were frantic, a messy chase of your highs—
But your legs could give in.
Not enough. Not enough.
"X-Xavier…" you whimper helplessly, voice shaky, distorted with the movements of your hips. "Mnnh… Xavie… Please—please, Y-Your Highness— my light, my everything, my— my prince, make me cum—!"
His actions were quick.
You sank into the mattress as his figure caged you between his arms, hovering over you, panting, panting—you squealed as he began to slam his hips into you, and this… This was enough.
Despite every rough slam of his cock deep into you, he leaned in to whine into your ear, occasionally turning his head to pepper your face with kisses.
Gentle enough—desperate enough—loving enough.
"Xavier!"
With a final cry of his name, you crashed, trembling around him and clasping his arm so tight that you were sure your nails had dug into his skin to leave a mark.
"Xavier… Xavier…"
Your chest heaved, and your hand fell limp back to your side as he kissed you.
He kissed you, and kissed you, and kissed you—his hips losing their pace, before he—
"M'gonna—gonna— nnh—! Ah!"
He released all over your stomach, shooting his cum out onto you, leaving a sticky mess on your body as he hung his head.
Arms on either side of your body, he desperately tried to catch his breath before he could look at you.
"Ah… ahh… haah… Th-that… Y-you were so…"
You smiled, reaching up to run your hands through his hair. "Very good," you murmured, all praise. "You made me feel so, so good."
He sat up, looking at you as his expression contorted into one of pure, unabashed adoration.
You almost rolled your eyes—"We have to shower again…" you sighed, though the smile never left your face.
He shook his head.
He took a few moments before he'd come back with a wet towel to wipe you clean, and then—as if having spent every ounce of his energy—fell on top of you like a weighted blanket.
"Xavier—!"
"Mmn. Let's cuddle first…"
He spun you over to have you back on top of him, and cradled your figure close. Your head rest upon his chest.
"My Queen."
Your eyes widened.
"My Queen."
He repeated it, firmly—surely.
His head buried into your hair, and you heard it again.
"I believe you. I do, and I will, and you—you will be my Queen. I will make sure of it. Beside me, with me."
A slow, shaky breath—
"Your Highness, believe me."

UNDER THE SUN - @wooahaes (series // fantasy/darl+ing au // multi ot13 part)
i think i’ve rbed almost all the individual parts if ur interested in my more specific thoughts but this series has been an absolute comfort series for me for a while !! the relationships between the members and the reader - both platonic and romantic have been so lovely to read !! it’s such a genuinely warm series and the worldbuilding is also just soso fantastic !! it is a fantasy sort of au,, so it’s a bit daunting to get into just because the logic of the universes created in this genre is a bit difficult to grasp,, but uts has such an easy to comprehend world and everything is explained so clearly !! it’s genuinely one of the most comforting fics i’ve read this year and one that i’d highly recommend to pretty much everyone,, even if u aren’t a carat :D
APARTMENT A5C - @suhnshinehaos (smau - college au)
my favorite svt smau that combines some of my fav tropes/aus (housemates and uni) !! ++ i’d argue there’s a found family aspect that just melts my heart soso much,, like the reader’s relationship with the 96 line, both platonic and romantic are insanely heartwarming and comforting !! the banter is so entertaining && all of the additional friendships are just to die for !! esp sana and yuta with the reader !! but honestly this smau is just soso sweet and a story where u really root for the main couple to get together bc they just fit each other so well !! def another fic i’d recommend to anyone !!
LOVESTRUCK @/suhnshinehaos (smau - college au)
short endings for the reader’s other housemates !! has the same entertaining banter and cute relationship buildup that is just soso perfect to read after apartment a5c to treat ur post fic sadness <3 all the relationships are formed in a shorter period of time, but with just that same amount of investment !!
CHOI SEUNGCHEOL
OBVIOUS - @leejungchans  (0.9k words - wedding florist and baker au)
so stinking cute !! the reader and seungcheol having related businesses and appreciating each other’s dedications to their respective crafts is soso endearing :D genuinely my fav seungcheol fic bc hello ? good writing + sulky cheol + established relationship ? an absolute 10/10 and must read that i revisit way too often :D
YOON JEONGHAN
ORDER UP - @/leejungchans  (2.4k - cafe au)
half of these r gonna b recs from sol’s masterlist,, but her works r just too good !! this fic is so darn cute and entertaining, with jeonghan’s antics + his classic attention n care for those in his life were captured so well !! him remembering the reader’s order and his sheer dedication to orchestrating an opportunity for a conversation outside of the reader placing their order was just so fun to read && is genuinely a fic i reread time and time again :D
CAUGHT @/leejungchans (1.1k - preschool? teachers au)
this. this is so insanely endearing hello ?? jeonghan as a preschool teacher is absolutely perfect, and the banter mixed with such tender love that the reader and jeonghan share is just so <3 it’s a relatively short read,, so i’d highly, HIGHLY, recommend giving this a read because it’s soso worth it,, esp if ur feeling a bit down and in need of something fun and sweet to read :D
REDEMPTION @/leejungchans (11.5k)
such whirlwind of emotions but soso insanely riveting !! bad boy jeonghan,,, oh my gosh a concept i (YOU !!) never knew i (YOU !!) needed in my life. him driving a motorcycle. him w tattoos. insane. amazing. fantastic. and a redemption arc ??? reader holding him accountable for wrongdoings ??? genuine efforts to change ?? go read it rn !! u must !!

Ooh, I loved your IL Dan Heng request where he realizes that Reader is no longer around and flips quickly trying to find them out of sheer anxiety that those who still hate Dan Feng would take out their hatred and vengeance on them.
I actually want to try and request fem!Reader getting attacked by a group who just want to hurt Dan Heng through attacking his beloved. But his beloved is no damsel in distress, and fights them off, extremely angry that they are attacking her to hurt Dan Heng for a crime he is not guilty of and finds it pathetic that they continue to hold a grudge against someone who has long passed, not adhering to the Vidyadhara laws that Dan Feng’s sins have been washed away. She tears into them, defending Dan Heng with everything as she beats their ass in an emotional rage with tears that’s only stopped because Jing Yuan has to prevent an Incident from happening even though he would gleefully let her continue beating them down.
Reader is upset that they want to hurt and cause Dan Heng pain. She could care less about them trying to torture or assassinate her.
But Reader still gets injured much to Dan Heng’s guilt and anguish and he blames himself for what happened after he arrives at the scene when he sensed that something was wrong.
Reader proceeds to reassure him that none of it is his fault.

Tumblr media
The Imbibitor Lunae Dan Feng wasn’t exactly known for being a beloved figure. Like many infamous individuals of history, there were some who hated him, while others continued their almost unnerving worship.
At the Xianzhou Luofu, the opinions of the general public were mixed and even carried onto his reincarnation. Some would rather have Dan Heng return to the position of leadership, while others wanted him gone from the very land his past life once considered home.
And while Dan Heng thought it’d best to separate himself from his past, he did see the value in learning about the culture and history of the Xianzhou as well as the Vidyadhara. As his partner, you were simply glad he wanted you along during the times he felt the need to revisit the Xianzhou Luofu or indulge in their delicacies.
You accompanied him in enough instances that some of the vendors even knew the two of you by name and what your favorite orders were. It wouldn’t have been a surprise it some locals were familiar with the two of you as well.
Today, you both decided to explore the Xianzhou Luofu separately in the morning, and then meet up late afternoon for a meal together. You wanted to try this tea spot in Aurum Alley you hadn’t heard of before. The tea was said to, somehow, make the consumers feel really good and it intrigued you enough to want to go with Dan Heng.
However, your plans of wandering around and enjoying some time alone was cut short when a group of individuals suddenly appeared around you.
You startled at the sight. The must’ve been been using cloudhymn magic for you not to notice their presence at all until they revealed themselves. After the initial surprise, your body instantly relaxed as you prepared for a fight. Judging by the looks on their faces’, it didn’t seem like they were friendly fans of the Astral Express crew just looking for an autograph.
Plastering a smile on your face to turned to the man closest to you. “Can I help you guys?”
He scowled but remained wordless, feeling like he was too important to speak to the likes of you.
You frowned. “It’s not very nice to ignore people.”
“Since when did we say we want to be nice to you?” another group member scoffed, already drawing his blade. “Dan Feng’s whore.”
Murmurs and grunts of agreement sounded from the rest of the group.
Sighing, you placed on hand on your hip and your other on the shaft of your spear. You had many issues with that sentiment. One, you weren’t a whore— You were his partner. And two, if you were a whore, you’d for sure be one only for Dan Heng. Not this old, dead man named Dan Feng people kept going on about.
“I’m getting a little annoyed here, but I’ll give you one chance,” you said calmly, trying not to lose your patience. “Leave me alone and I’ll pretend this never happened.”
“Or what?” one lady chimed in.
With a huff, you quickly scanned the circle of people. The group wasn’t too large; there were only about four individuals around you with their weapons now at the ready. You reckoned they must’ve had some skill, given they were able to use the cloudhymn magic typically practiced by assassins, but you were confident you could hold your own and knock them out by yourself if you needed to.
You tapped your foot and pursed your lips. “You don’t want to know the or what.” There was a mocking laugh to your side and you quickly turned to him with your eyebrows raised. “Is something funny?”
He nodded. “Yeah. You’re not scary at all.”
“She’s just as pathetic as that sorry reincarnation of Dan Feng,” another snickered, nudging your back with the hilt of his sword.
The woman in front of you shook her head, looking down at you. “No one is as pathetic as that traitor.”
Anger surged through you at his words. Dan Heng was so much more than Dan Feng’s reincarnation. He was his own person— A strong, kind, intelligent person at that. And he wasn’t pathetic. In an instant, you knocked the sword out of your ambusher’s hands with a swift kick and pointed the blunt end of your polearm at the woman who insulted him next.
“You want to say that again?” you scowled, prodding her shoulder roughly in warning.
When you moved your weapon, the man behind you swung his sword at your side and you just barely managed to dodge, the blade leaving a long cut across your upper arm. You flinched at the sting but ignored it. You felt small drops of blood begin to roll down onto your elbow, but you sensed the cut wasn’t deep enough for you to be truly concerned. It was nothing compared to what you would do to them if they said one more negative thing about Dan Heng.
They could hurt you and call you names. That you didn’t care about; you could handle yourself. Sure, you might cry a little after the event took place, but when it came to it, you could hold your own. But when they continually kept insulting Dan Heng, you knew you had to put your foot down.
Your partner, your beloved, has been through enough shit without having random strangers who didn’t even know him talking behind his back. This particular group even went as far as trying to harass you simply because of your association with him.
You wouldn’t stand for it. You couldn’t— It hurt your own heart just hearing them badmouth him.
Red flooded your vision as you glared at the group with your weapon in a readied position, “You only need to look in the mirror if you want to see what pathetic truly is. No need to bring Dan Heng into this.”
The group matched your stance and you rolled your eyes before swinging your polearm in a low sweep to knock two ambushers to the floor. Before you could use your weapon correctly and strike the next assailant, a booming voice sounded from your side.
“Now, now. If we’re going to resort to violence, please do it away from the innocent civilians nearby.”
The group of assassins around you straightened up in an instant at the sound of Jing Yuan and the marching Cloud Knights behind him.
While you were half relieved to see Jing Yuan, the other half of you wanted him to go away so you could enjoy beating the shit out of these idiots who insulted Dan Heng. That would certainly teach them not to spew nonsense about things they did not know.
The group silently disbanded and disappeared as they ran away, trying to avoid the clutches of Jing Yuan’s men who were soon on their heels. You frowned at their cowardly escape. They couldn’t even stand to face the lawful consequences of their actions?
“As much as I would’ve enjoyed seeing your execution of justice, I don’t think Dan Heng would want to see you potentially get more injured,” Jing Yuan said with a small smile. “They are assassins, after all.” He examined your arm from a distance before walking up to you and offering a hand.
You accepted, looking down at your bleeding arm with a slight wince. “They barely even nicked me…”
Jing Yuan shook his head, a fond look on his face despite his chastisement. Before he could sterilize it for you, you two spotted Dan Heng running over. His spear was by his side and his expression was frantic as he ran towards you.
“Y/N! Are you alright?” called Dan Heng, his breathing heavy partly from physical exertion, but mostly from worry. “I saw Cloud Knights tracking down some people under the influence of cloudhymn magic.” His brows furrowed as he finally reached you and Jing Yuan, most likely remembering his last encounter with assassins using the same technique. “Did you see them? Are you okay?”
Jing Yuan glanced at the guilty look on your face before giving your arm a squeeze and nodding once to Dan Heng. “I shall let the two of you continue this conversation alone. Until we cross paths again.”
Your eyes widened at his quick goodbye. “Hopefully our next meeting will be for better reasons. Thanks, Jing Yuan!”
“Don’t mention it.” He turned to Dan Heng before he left. “Stay safe and vigilant, Dan Heng.”
As he walked away, you noticed Dan Heng scanning every inch of your body, eyes clouded with anxiety as he took in Jing Yuan’s words and the cut on your arm.
Silence stretched between the two of you before he finally spoke up. When he talked, his tone was unsettling. “Who did this to you? Was it the assassins?”
Your gaze softened as his fists tightened in concern. “Yes,” you admitted, gently putting his hands in yours as you ran your thumb over his knuckles. “But I’m okay, they didn’t hurt me.”
Dan Heng looked at you in disbelief.
“This just needs to be cleaned and bandaged, is all,” you reassured with a small smile. “I’m sure the bruises I left on them are worse.”
“You’re bleeding.”
“But I’m okay,” you said, soft but firm.
You gazed stubbornly at him and Dan Heng returned the look, neither of you backing down. Eventually, Dan Heng sighed, squeezing his eyes shut at the sight of the bloodstain on your shirt.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N,” he said with an almost imperceptible quiver in his voice. “I should’ve been there for you.”
“Hey, don’t say that.” You frowned, lightly cupping his jaw to lift his head that had fallen to the floor. “You’re always there for me; I know it.”
“Not enough, apparently.”
Dan Heng’s complexion was paler than normal. You could tell this was really eating him up inside.
“You couldn’t have known I was going to get ambushed by cloudhymn magic users,” you said, trying to console him. “If you did, I know you wouldn’t have left me alone. But you didn’t know, and so I did my best to handle them myself— And I would’ve kicked their sorry asses for insulting your character if Jing Yuan hadn’t stopped the fight.”
Dan Heng’s expression softened at that, a hint of an amused smile forming on his face. “They would’ve felt sorry for trying to harm you if they knew of your skill, that’s for certain.” He reached out to hold your forearm in his hand, examining the cut with a sigh. “I just hate that you got hurt because of me.”
You shook your head at his wrongful connection. “I got hurt because of the idiot assassins, not because of you.”
“Didn’t they want to harm you because of your relation to me?”
“Yes, but that just means they’re delusional and stuck in the past and wanted to hurt us both,” you reasoned, watching carefully as Dan Heng pulled a first aid kit out of your bag and began to clean you up. “You did not hurt me, Dan Heng. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
He let your words sink in as he sterilized your wound, rubbing the sensitive skin on your inner forearm soothingly as he sensed you tightening up at the sting of pain. Once he disposed of the bloodied cloth, he wrapped a bandage around your triceps and secured the ends.
You admired his work with a proud grin. “Good as new. Thank you!”
Dan Heng released a huff of laughter as he patted the top of your head before kissing it.  “I wouldn’t go that far, but I hope it will heal soon.”
“As long as you kiss me daily to make the wound heal faster!”
“I’m not sure that’s how it works,” he mused. You poured and he looked at you fondly. “For you, I’ll give it a try.” Dan Heng placed three kisses on your face—one on your forehead, one on your left cheek, and one on your right—and one kiss on your bandaged arm. “If I give you multiple kisses a day then, will it heal even sooner?”
You nodded eagerly, gesturing to your mouth with a teasing glint in your eye. “Definitely! And there’s one place to kiss so it’ll heal the fastest.”
Dan Heng smiled. “I believe I know the place you are referring to, but we’ll save that for when we’re in private.”
You jutted your bottom lip out and batted your eyelashes at him. “Just a little one?”
He wasn’t much for excessive public displays of affection. You were rather embarrassed by it yourself. But in this moment, it felt as if it were just the two of you on the entire Luofu.
Unable to resist the pleasing look on your face, Dan Heng humored you with a chaste kiss on your lips. It was plush and warm and, while the two of you wanted more, it was enough to satiate you for now.
“Is that better?” he asked.
“Yes.”
“I’m glad to hear.” He took your hand in his, carefully interlacing his slender fingers with yours. “Thank you for looking after me, even when I’m not there. I’m glad you have my back. I will always have yours as well,” he vowed. “I’ll always be here for you.”
As the promise left his mouth, you knew each word was one he meant from the heart. Dan Heng meant the world to you, and you would stop at nothing to protect him. And you knew he would do the same. You saw it through his actions, and now, he told you with his words.
Your stomach warmed and your heart squeezed, feeling touched by his declaration.
“I know you will,” you stated, a confident shimmer in your eyes as you met his headstrong ones. “And I will always be here for you, too.”

Room 143 | idol!han x fem!reader \ part 4
Tumblr media
1k followers celebration story
If someone had told you that you would have one night with Han Jisung, you would have laughed in their face.
Read Part 1 here | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7
Delulu! Absolute delulu! Last year I wrote a little fic about y/n going to the concert and by chance having a night of passion with the yummy Han Jisung. I thought it might be nice to revisit it with a rework (the original had an original female character but I’m changing it to y/n).
Chapter summary: you go to the concert and say goodbye (there’s more to it, but I don’t want to spoil it.)
Tumblr media
CW: angst, sexual tension, almost sex.
Before you knew it, you were seated in the arena with the perfect view of the extended stage. The atmosphere was buzzing as Stay were getting excited. Before the show you were able to get a behind the scenes glimpse into what goes into a production like this. It was fascinating and you felt grateful for the opportunity to see how it all came together. Sitting next to you two young women, probably around nineteen, started chatting to you.
“This is SO exciting!!! How long have you been a Stay?” the black haired girl asked. You were embarrassed to admit it had only been a few months.
“Oh so you’re a Baby Stay?” the lighter haired girl said excitedly, and leaned forward. “Do you have a bias?” she asked wiggling her eyebrows. What the hell were you supposed to say? Did you have a bias? “Kind of?” You squeaked. “What about you?” You quickly deflected the question.
“Jisung.” The black haired girl cooed, closing her eyes, imagining her bias.
“Oh!” You choked and cleared your throat. “Yeah, I like him too.” You said smiling. You wondered if she’s imagined him between her legs? How many people in this room have visualized him doing all sorts of obscene things to them? Oh god y/n, stop. Just stop. Focus.
You watched Han as he performed their stages, and you couldn’t take your eyes off him. Everything he did on stage was magic. Whether he was rapping, singing like an angel, or being a goof-ball during the intermissions, he was captivating. Stay loved his sense of humor, and listened intently as he told them about going to the pool with Lee Know and just walking around in the water.
He didn’t really search for you in the audience, instead focusing all his attention on performing for their fans. Muddy Water was next, which meant that Han and just three other members were going to wander around the second stage in a less structured and choreographed way. You knew it was going to be a treat. Han fucking Jisung looked so fucking hot strutting around that stage. All of them did. When it was his turn to rap, you could really hear how skilled, smooth and talented his mouth was, and imagined what it’d be like to have him rap in your ear in his bedroom voice. You couldn’t help but think about that mouth between your legs only hours before, giving you the best orgasm of your life.
Oh God it was the best orgasm of your life. You felt an ache between your legs and a moistness developing. Surely you’re not the only one here horny in this place? You crossed your legs and ignored the pressure that was building.
Shaking your head to jolt yourself back to reality, you looked up at the stage to see Han had stopped in front of you and was making eye contact with some of the nearby fans. His eyes found yours and he smirked and brought two fingers, the two that were inside you earlier, up to his mouth and licked them, then winked at you. The horror on your face made him laugh as he continued to wander the stage.
It was quite a flurry after the show. You were ushered backstage where you met Han in a corridor.
“What did you think? Did you have fun? What was your favorite part?” he bombarded you enthusiastically with questions.
“It was fucking amazing! All of it!” You squealed excitedly. Han beamed at you, “And your favorite part?” he looked at you devilishly.
“Ummm…” You thought for a moment. “The part where Chan lifts his shirt in Charmer.” You teased. Han’s face turned to feigned disapproval, like you were a traitor.
“Okay, okay…” You laughed. “I really loved it when you hit the high notes in Hellevator.”
He looked proud and happy. “Was that the only part you liked?”
What was he pushing for? Oh. You realized what he was hinting at. “Yes, yes… In Muddy Water you reminded a fan of something you are very good at doing.” You stated coolly, but you felt like you were going red.
Han grinned and raised an eyebrow. “Did I?” he said pretending he had no idea what you were talking about.
“Hannie!” a voice interrupted. You turned to see Chan ushering you both into a room.
“Come, join us Y/n.” Han gestured for you to lead the way.
You entered a rather large, unremarkable space, much like a conference room. Several black couches were positioned around the room, and there were so many people chatting excitedly. You assumed they were staff of some sort. The room smelled of sweat and deodorant and although you knew the air conditioner would be cranking, it wasn’t enough to cut through how hot the night was. You were sweating too, the thick band tshirt clinging to your skin. Your makeup had probably melted off long ago. You felt so un-sexy.
“Come meet some of the guys.” Han said, holding your elbow and guiding you over to the right side of the room. “This is Lee Know.”
Sitting on the black leather couch in front of you was the most intimidating man you had ever seen. He wordlessly glared at Han as if to say “How fucking dare you bring a woman home.” Han made an innocent face, and blinked his big gorgeous doe-eyes that said “I haven’t done anything wrong… Can we keep her?”
You stood there awkwardly. Was MInsung really a thing? They both looked at you and burst out laughing. “Come on Hyung, we are not on stage anymore!” Han whined. Lee Know’s face softened and he bowed his head, greeting you politely. “Hello, nice to meet you. Did you have a nice night?” Lee Know smiled. Maybe he wasn’t as intimidating as you first thought. Just a man of few words.
Han continued to introduce you to the other members and some of their staff. Everyone was really polite, and you wondered how often they see this situation. Does Han find a girl in every city?
“Would you like a drink? Are you thirsty?” Han pointed to a table with bottles of water. He opened a bottle before handing it to you, and grabbed one for himself. You were so parched that you had already nearly finished the bottle by the time you sat down on one of the couches.
Han grinned at you sheepishly. “You know, y/n… I have a secret.” He leaned in close “You know when I licked my fingers in Muddy Water?” You felt your skin burn up at the memory. “I could still taste you.”
Your stomach dropped and arousal hit you like a flash flood. Your vagina clenched with need. Why did he have to say that? You looked away only to lock eyes on the beauty that was Hyunjin. He was sitting on a nearby couch watching you curiously. The look in his eyes made you feel like he was reading your mind and that he knew exactly what Han had just said, and what he was referring to, even though he wasn’t even in earshot. He parted his mouth and his tongue slid slightly along his lip like he was concentrating on something really hard.
You swallowed and tore your eyes away, preferring to stare at the floor instead.
“You don’t think I’m weird do you?” Han whispered. You lifted your head to look at him. He looked worried.
Embarrassed, you smiled and shook your head. “No… it was kind of… hot.” You admitted.
“Excuse me…sorry.” A middle aged woman politely interrupted. Yo were relieved. She had perfect timing. “We are taking you back to the hotel now.” Your heart dropped. Already? You snapped your head back to Han. He looked crestfallen. Did it feel too soon for him too?
“I’ll walk her out to the car.” He insisted. The woman bowed and nodded.
—-
Han walked with you along corridor that led to where the vehicles were waiting. You couldn’t believe this was over already. You walked in silence. Each step you took was a step closer to goodbye. You fucking hated it. You had almost reached the exit door, when Han suddenly grabbed your arm and pulled you through a side door and into a some sort of dimly lit storage room.
“I didn’t really think that’d be unlocked.” He said surprised, referring to the door.
“Han what are you doing? The car… it’s waiting for me.” You protested.
“I need to kiss you… feel you… one more time.” He purred.
He gently pushed you against the wall, pressing his body against you and moaning low. His hands slowly roamed your body. His lips found yours. Oh god you wanted him. You wanted him to take you then and there. Your heart pounded as your body silently screamed for him. You pulled his hips hard against you so you could feel how much he wanted you too.
You peeled your mouth away from his, but his lips landed on your neck, making you swoon. “I have to go…” You whimpered. Every part of you wanted him to ignore your words and keep you there longer.
“I wish you didn’t have to go.” He panted and pressed his head against yours. “I could just take you right here… right now… if you wanted me to. Do you want me to, baby?”
You looked into each other’s eyes for what felt like an eternity as you silently considered how possible, how easy, it would really be for him to hike your skirt up and slip himself inside of you.
“I want you to…” You whispered. Han exhaled and his hand flew to the button on his jeans. Adrenaline coursed through you as your body anticipated what was about to happen.
You only managed to glance at his mouthwatering cock for a moment before he slid your skirt up to your waist and lifted you against the wall.
His mouth was on yours again, his tongue exploring, as he pressed himself between your legs.
His cock rubbed against your drenched panties, the tip pressing against your entrance. You both groaned at the barrier of the fabric that was stopping him from penetrating you.
His hands squeezed your ass making you moan into his mouth. Then you felt his fingers, encroaching the edge of your underwear. He hooked a finger under the seam, yanking it to the side, giving him access.
“Hurry.” You whimpered, desperately needing to feel him inside you.
“I’ve got you, baby.” He promised, as he grasped his cock, ready to line himself up with you.
Your eyes rolled back just from the tip of his cock grazing against your folds.
“Hey are you in here!?” a deep voice said as the door flew open, startling you both.
“God. S-ssorry…” It was Felix. “Guys… Um…they’re asking if you still need a lift, Y/n.” Felix eyes were everywhere but on you.
Han looked at you sadly. “Yeah. I’ll walk her out. Just give me second.” He said solemnly, lowering you back in your feet, and putting his cock away.
This time, Han really did walk you to the car. It was raining outside. You felt heavy. You wanted to cry. You wanted to cling onto him. You didn't want this to end.
Han apologized to the driver saying he was to blame, not you, for making them wait.
“Bye Y/n.” He said as you stepped into the van and took your seat.
As you were driven away, Han didn’t move to go back inside. He just stood there in the pouring rain, watching the van drive away. You watched him too, for as long as you could, before the van turned the corner and you could no longer see him.
It was over.
-----
You got back to the hotel and had a long, hot shower (even though the night was still stinking hot). Today had been like a dream. From running into 3Racha in the morning, to having Han Jisung going down on you, to the incredible VIP treatment at the concert, to almost having sex with him in a storage room. If only Felix hadn’t barged in, you would have been able to feel him inside of you.
You sighed deeply, as the water washed any trace of Han off your skin. Your mind flashed to him watching you drive away earlier that night. Today would be hard to get over. You felt a pang in your chest.
Don't you dare get sad.
You slid into bed and pulled out a drawstring bag from the side table and shimmied off your panties. Today might be hard to get over, but you were still horny. Pulling out your small bullet vibrator, you let your mind drift off to thoughts of Han Jisung standing nervously in your hotel room. Han Jisung holding you close, kissing your body as he made his way down to the place he drove you wild. Han Jisung's fingers inside of you.  Han Jisung on stage. Han Jisung fucking you in a storage room. Han Jisung knocking on your door.
Han Jisung knocking on your door?
Your eyes flicked open as you registered the tiny knock on the hotel room door.
What the fuck? The intrusion scared you, your heart almost flung out of your chest, pumping adrenaline through your veins. There is no way this could possibly be -
You tossed the toy on the bed, padded to the door and cracked it open.
It was Han fucking Jisung.

Safest with You - Ch. 3 (The Drycleaner)
3.2K / Modern AU Retired Mob Enforcer!Din Djarin x fem!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You listen to a sign from the universe and it leads you to Din.
Warnings: Some pining and then more fluff 💕 although Reader is a bit of menace as she straight up ogles Din like a piece of meat 😂, brief mention of female masturbation, reader is described as shorter than Din, first use of pet name “Pretty Bird”.
A/N: The series is slow but sometimes falling in love be like that. I pinned a series masterlist, so you can always jump to the smutty one shots that happen later in the timeline when these two are in an established relationship if you need a fix. The fact that Din boxes is 100% attributed to @djarinsbeskar's Boxer!Din AU which was the very first Din fic AU I ever read on Tumblr and remains one of my favourites and one I revisit often; making Din a former boxer/owner of a boxing gym is my small but humble homage to Rachel's genius. Also from that same AU is this piece of art from one of my favourite artists, @kate-komics that I think about often also. Thank you both for the inspiration!
Tumblr media
“He bought you books?!?”
“Well, technically, he bought us all books.”
The whole table laughs; your friends were delighted when you handed out the books, but they’re entralled at the background story that comes with.
“And he didn’t leave you his number or anything?”
“No! Told the cashier he didn’t want to want me to feel ‘obligated’.”
“It’s okay, babe.  We’ll find him,” nods Katie, whipping out her phone.
Bea starts typing on her phone as well, “Right.  He said his name is Din?  How do you spell that?”
“I don’t know.”
“Is it short for something?”
“I don’t know.”
“How old is he?”
“I don’t know.  40s?  He’s greying,” you picture Din’s soft curls and bury your face in your hands, “it looks so fucking good on him.”
“Where does he work?”
“I don’t know.  Not downtown.”
“Well, what does he do?”
“I don’t know.”
“Babe. What do you know?”
“I know his coffee order is Ice Quad Expresso in a Venti cup with extra ice and six shots.”
“Ok, so we know he probably has a heart condition.”
Everyone bursts out laughing.  Your friends have good reason to be so enthusiastic – it’s been ages since someone has caught your eye.  You don’t date a lot, and that’s always been your preference.  You have a picky temperament to begin with, but the truth is, you’re happy and at peace with the way your life is now after years of hard work.  There simply hasn’t been room or a need for a partner, and your friends don’t push you to date (except Jen who always reminds you that there’s a guy at her firm she wants to set you up with, but even that’s more in good fun than anything).  But right now, you look flushed and besotted over this stranger; positively smitten.  They love it for you.
After a few minutes, no one has found anything on social media, any dating apps or Google – admittedly, there wasn’t much (anything?) to go on, but you’ve seen these girls work internet detective miracles before.
Oh well.
You sigh, “I need to get drunk and forget him.  Or painfully obsess over every detail I can remember.”
And you all cheers to that.
---
Huh.
A week later on the Saturday, you’re out running errands, and you find yourself standing in front of your drycleaner which has unexpectedly closed.  A handwritten sign in the window reads: “Emergency Closure.  Reopening to be announced.”
The drycleaner’s is supposed to be your first stop of the day and you don’t really feel like carting your dirty clothes with you to run the rest of your errands.  Moreover, you’ll need a few of the items in the coming weeks.  You take out your phone to look up other drycleaners in the area when something in your mind clicks: Peli’s Drycleaning on 14th.  You search it and see it actually exists, and has a pretty good rating to boot.  But, it’s sort of out of your way, not really in the same area you’re in at all.
You shouldn’t go.
Should you go?
And what if you do?  Do you… ask about Din?  That’s weird.
But you’ve been thinking about him non-stop all week: daydreaming about his soft smile during your work commute, remembering the flex of his strong hand covering yours as you answer emails, getting lost in thoughts of his big brown eyes while out walking the dog.  You flush at the memory of touching yourself in bed while recalling his deep and rich voice.  Every attempt to forget your handsome Quad Ice over the past week has utterly failed.
Eff it. What are the chances that you unexpectedly need a new drycleaner, and it happens to be the only thing tangentially related to Din that you know? Maybe the universe is trying to help you out.
Before you can characteristically overthink it, you flag down a cab and give the driver the address you looked up; your heart pounds the entire ride over.
When you step into drycleaner’s, a little bell above the door jingles to signal your arrival, and a short woman with a huge amount of curly dark hair appears from the back.  You think she might be Peli, but you can’t be sure; she gives you a huge smile and gestures to take in your clothes.  Finding her to be super friendly and chatty, the two of you make easy small talk as she neatly lists out your items by hand on her notepad.  When she gets to the coffee stained skirt, she lets out a low whistle, “Oof.  Been there, done that!” she quips.  You decide this is probably the best opening you’ll get, “Actually, that coffee stain is probably why I’m here.  Someone saw it and recommended your place.”  Peli raises her eyebrow as you press on, “His name is Din, he said he’s a friend of the owner?”
This gets her attention; the woman stops what she’s doing and studies you with great interest.  Her face breaks out into an impossibly wide smile and she exclaims loudly, “Din sent you, eh?  And he said we were friends?”  she lets out a deep belly laugh, “Babysat him when he was a kid, but yep we’re friends. Ha!  Hi, I’m Peli!”  She shakes your hand as you introduce yourself. “He said to mention his name and you would try harder not to lose my clothes,” you joke.
“That scamp!” chortles Peli, “Don’t worry!  We’ll take good care of you!  You know… because of Din.” She rolls her eyes good naturedly.
“Of course.  Because of Din,” you grin back, “So…does he send a lot of… people who need drycleaning, your way?”
“Nope!  You’re the first!  And honestly, now that I think about it, why hasn’t he been sending me more business?”
You figure it’s now or never, “Do you know where I could find him?”
If possible, Peli brightens even more at your question, “Oh yeah, for sure!  At this time of day, he’ll be at his gym.  It’s about 2 blocks that way,” she points in the direction for you, “can’t miss it!  Big sign that says ‘Mando’s Gym’.”
Peli finishes taking down your information for the clothes and lets you know when everything can be ready.  You give her an enthusiastic thanks; when opening the door to leave, you have a moment of hesitation, but looking back, you find Peli already pointing in the direction of the gym.  You give her a smiling nod and head that way.
---
Peli was right.  You can’t miss the sign; it sits atop of a standalone three story building that’s set further back on its lot.  The front area of the lot looks like it might have once been a driveway of sorts, but is now used as a parking lot; a handful of parked cars lets you know the gym is fairly busy today.  The front of the building has giant windows that look like garage doors and makes you think that the building might have once been a mechanic repair shop; from the little of what you can see inside, you think the gym occupies the first floor of the building and possibly the second.  The big set of garage door windows are separated in the middle by an entry way that you walk through, slightly nervous.  Once inside, you see a reception but currently no one behind the small desk; instead, you peek around the partition wall behind the desk and see that the space opens up to a clean, spacious room that has about 8-10 people working out on various machines and punching bags lining the walls, all leading to a larger group of people clustering near the boxing ring centered at the back of the room.
You’re making your way towards the back, scanning over the group looking for Din when you spot him, right in the middle of the ring.  He’s got his gloved hands up, blocking part of his head, but you can still tell it’s him; when you hear him shouting encouraging words to his sparring partner, his familiar voice sends a shiver up your spine.  He’s wearing a sweat drenched grey t-shirt and his hair is messy and wet from his work out, but he looks even better than you remember.
Actually, he looks fucking delicious.  From this angle you can see the cut of his jawline and how it tightens as his grunts and pants.  His arms are flexed from his forearms up to his biceps, and are so muscular they’re straining hard against his shirt sleeves.  You must be straight up ogling him because you don’t even realize when Din notices you; you’re too busy looking at his legs and admiring how his thighs fill out his navy blue shorts so snugly.  You only look up when those same legs start walking in your direction and come to a stop at the edge of the ring.  Din is leaning towards you against the rope with a heart-stopping smile, “It’s you.”
“Yes, it’s me,” you grin, repeating back his words to you from the bookstore.
Din thinks he must be dreaming, or maybe he’s been knocked in the head one too many times today.  He had just paused the fight to show Jimmy the new combination again, when he looked over to see the prettiest sight.  You, standing in his gym, soft and dainty, with a wide eye expression on your face.  You’re looking in his direction, but when you don’t make eye contact with him immediately, Din allows himself the smug thought that you might be liking what you see and puffs his chest out a little before making his way over to you.
Now you’re looking at him with that same pretty smile that he hasn’t been able to get out of his head for the last week, and he can’t wait to talk to you again, “Are you okay to wait for 5 minutes?  We’re just finishing up this training session.”
You nod agreeably, “Sure, I can wait.”  There’s a bench running along the right side of the ring where you take a seat to better enjoy the show.  You’ve never seen boxing up close before, so you don’t know what to expect, but you find yourself mesmerized by everything Din is doing in the ring.  All his movements are intentional and graceful; he’s in total control of every motion he makes: ducking, blocking, punching.  His muscles are all flexed and his shirt stretches tight, barely containing them as if Din himself is an extension of the explosive power harnessed in his fists.  The legs that you were drooling over earlier are quick and agile; it’s true you don’t know his age but his sparring partner looks to be in his mid-20s and Din is having no problem out maneuvering him.
As he circles the other fighter, you think you spy some ink on a flash of some exposed skin and the idea of exploring what’s underneath Din’s shirt has you swallowing hard.  In short, you can’t take your eyes off of him.
The 5 minutes is action packed and over before you know it.  In one continuous smooth motion, Din ducks under the rope, jumps down and grabs a fresh towel from a stack on the other end of the bench you’re sitting on before sliding over to sit next to you.  He looks at you almost bashfully as he towels off his hair and wipes the sweat from his brow and neck.  You think you could get used to seeing him like this: cheeks pink from exercise, bright eyes glued to yours and a grin so wide it reveals a deep dimple in his right cheek that you’re discovering for the first time.  He’s taking your breath away and you haven’t even been back in his presence for more than 10 minutes.
“What brings you to this part of town today, pretty bird?”
If anyone else had bestowed a pet name on you so soon after having met, you would have immediately gotten the ick, but the endearment rolling off Din’s tongue sounds so natural and sweet, it has you melting, “Some handsome guy bought me a thick stack of books and then made it nearly impossible for me to thank him.  Tracked him down to this gym.”
“Handsome guy, eh?”
“Yep.  Real handsome.  And sweet.  You know anyone around here like that?” you tease.
Handsome.  You think he’s handsome. Din thinks his heart is in danger of no longer fitting in his chest.  He holds his hand up to his brow, as if to shield his eyes from the light, and mines looking around gym in an exaggerated manner, “Nope.  Just a bunch of smelly, sweaty ruffians.  Owner’s a handsome guy though, maybe you’re looking for him,” he says, eyes twinkling.
“You own this gym?”
“Sure do.  Used to be my dad’s.”
“Well, he would be proud of you and what you’ve done here, Din.  It looks great.”  You mean it, and you look around the gym with a renewed sense of awe now that you know Din is the one responsible for its operations.
Din’s not sure how you knew the exact thing to say to make his heart swell, but he knows without a doubt that you’re being genuine and he is reminded again of your kind nature.
You look back to see Din looking at you with a soft expression and before you let yourself get lost in his eyes, you force yourself to pull it together, “Oh Din!  I can’t believe I didn’t say this right away: Thank you!! Thank you for the books.  It was so incredibly unexpected and sweet!  My friends also say thank you – a few of the books you bought were for them.”
“You’re very welcome.  Have you enjoyed the books?”
You’re warmed by how thoughtful Din is, and you let him know the books are turning out to be great and you and your friends can’t believe how long you’ll have to wait for the next instalment to come out.
“Do you have plans to read tonight, or would you happen to be free?”
Even though you had been hoping that Din would ask you out, your heart leaps into your throat now that it’s happening.  “I think I should be!  If I finish up this list of errands I’m supposed to get to today, that is.  Giving Peli my drycleaning was only the first item,” you lament.
“Peli!  Is that how you found me?  Clever girl.”
You beam at Din’s praise.  You realize you haven’t explained how you knew where he was, “As luck would have it, my regular drycleaner was unexpectedly closed.  Nearly derailed my whole errand day until I remembered you mentioning you had a friend who ran a drycleaning business.  Something else I need to thank you for.”
“I’m glad I could help.  Well, if you have a bunch of errands you have to finish before you can go out with me tonight, I’m going to scoot you out of here right now so you don’t cancel. Scoot!”  Din adds a silly shooing motion with his hands as he says this, so you know he’s not seriously trying to get rid of you.  You giggle, but nod, eager to get on with your tasks so that your date with Din might come sooner.
Din asks you if you need a ride, but you tell him you’ll be fine and jokingly scoff, “Hey!  I don’t want you putting off your work and then backing out either, mister.”
“Not a chance,” grins Din.
As you walk together towards the front of the gym, Din lets you know how much he’s been thinking about you,  “I’m really glad you came to here today.  I was about to camp out everyday at the coffeeshop in the morning and then that bookstore in the afternoon until I found you again.”
“Who would have looked after the gym if you did that?”
Din looks around at the gym; some of the boxers and staff that had been watching the two of you look away quickly and pretend to busy themselves to avoid being caught staring.  “Shoot.  This place probably would have burned down.  Looks like you just saved the gym.”
You can’t help but giggle again and Din feels a growing sense of pride in being able to make you laugh.  “How about tonight I take you out to dinner as a thank you?”
Giving him an incredulous look, you answer, “I should be taking you out to dinner to thank you.”
“I don’t think so, pretty bird.”
The pet name shoots straight to your core again.
Din stretches himself up to his full height and looks down at you with mock stern expression, cocking his eyebrow.
You can’t say you’re at all intimidated even though he towers over you; you’ve long since felt that Din’s company spelled safety.  But to play along, you counter by looking up at him with your biggest pleading eyes.  Din is instantly disarmed and knows in this moment that he will never be able to refuse you anything.
He suggests a compromise, “How about we go for dinner and fight about the check there?”
“Ok.  But just so you know, I’m not used to losing,” you challenge playfully.
“Me neither.” Din tilts his head slightly to draw your attention to the wall you’re standing next to.  It’s the other side of the divider wall you rounded when you came in, and you see that it’s covered with awards, certificates, and articles lauding Din’s boxing accomplishments.
Amazed, you skim over the honours and achievements, “This is you?  Wow – you’re incredible Din!  …9 times weight division champion? Oh man, now I don’t know if I can take you.”
“I bet you could,” from the look on Din’s face, you’re sure that the double meaning is meant as a tease, but you can’t help squirming a little.
Blushing, you relent, “Ok, you can pay for dinner.  But I still have to thank you for the books.”
Din is finding your persistence on this point to be adorable, “Your ‘thanks’ is enough.  No need to feel like you owe me; it was a gift.”
“I know.  I just have an outrageous sense of reciprocity.  I really do want to find a way to thank you somehow.”  You reach up and put your hand on Din’s shoulder to hold yourself steady as you lift up onto your toes and kiss him on the cheek.  Despite having just gone who knows how many rounds in the ring, he smells incredible and you can’t help but linger your lips on his cheek.  You exhale softly and hold Din’s gaze as you slowly lower down to your normal height.
Din looks as affected as you feel, “Remind me to buy you some more books.”
Both of you laugh, now giddy about the prospect of seeing each other again in a few hours.  You exchange numbers and Din promises to text you later with the address of the restaurant he’ll meet you at tonight.
Heading down the street, heart aflutter and fingers trembling with excitement, you take out your phone and text the group chat: I found him.

Fire in the Frat House (Modern College AU Ominis Gaunt x F!MC) 🔥
Another mood board challenge from my wonderful friend @ellivenollivander . She sent me another mood board to base a fic off of, with this one being Ominis themed. So I decided to revisit my modern college AU Frat boy Ominis.
Tagging @little-emerald-snake cause you were excited when I posted the snippet to this one! Apologies it's not hella spicy but I have some spicy Ominis on the way!
Warnings: Mostly fluff, but with a brief moment of dry hump!ng || characters are in college and over 18.
Word Count: 1.9k
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The girl groaned as the webpage loaded, displaying a measly 70% on the essay she had submitted last week, the one that had taken her hours of research to complete. 3 months into it, and her first semester wasn’t turning out to be the fun experience she thought it was going to be. Granted, she knew there was more to college than parties, but she also didn’t think her classes would be this difficult, especially having done so well in high school.
Right now, there were only two things bringing her joy in her freshman life. The first thing being her Sorority - her sisters being some of the best people she had met in her time in college so far. Although the Sorority president, Imelda Reyes, absolutely hated her, she mostly left her alone. The second thing was her relationship with sophomore, popular boy, and campus Fraternity’s president - Ominis Gaunt.
On the surface, Ominis seemed like the most stereotypical hot, rich, Frat boy - His family donated tons of money to the university over the years, and were friends with the Dean’s family. All of the male Gaunts had attended the school, and they all served as Fraternity president the entire time they were in attendance. Everyone respected Ominis and his social status. Nobody dared to cross him, or even think about making fun of his blindness, which he had since birth. All the boys wanted to be his friend, and all the girls wanted to be his girlfriend (hence Imelda’s hatred).
Being Ominis Gaunt came with a lot of power, and being Ominis Gaunt’s girlfriend came with a power of its own. She met him on a Friday after her first week, was in his bed by Saturday, and was in the Sorority by Monday. There was no bullying or freshman hazing for her with Ominis on her arm.
Despite the quickness at which their relationship developed, they were very happy. Ominis was an amazing boyfriend - never afraid to show her off, and being supportive during her first semester of college. Of course there were some things he could not prepare her for, and this crappy grade was one of those things. The girl slammed her laptop shut, grabbed her jacket, and left the Sorority house.
She walked the short distance from the Sorority house to the Frat house, where she let herself inside with her key; another perk of being Ominis Gaunt’s girlfriend. As she passed the kitchen, she found Garreth Weasley, her friend from high school, raiding the fridge.
She shot Garreth a smile before she made her way upstairs to Ominis’s room, which she found empty. She knew he had a big exam today, so this wasn’t surprising. Between this exam and her essay, the couple had barely seen each other the past few days. She tossed herself on his bed, which was dressed with emerald green satin sheets, and waited, eventually dozing off.
She wasn’t sure how long she had been asleep for, but she was violently awoken when she heard the sound of Ominis’s room door slamming shut. She sat up to see her boyfriend tossing his school bag on the floor in frustration.
“Babe, are you okay?”
Ominis looked up in the direction of her voice, seemingly having not noticed she was there. “Oh, darling! I didn’t realize you were here. I…I didn’t do so great on that exam.” There was sadness in his voice. Despite Ominis’s status, he was incredibly smart and took his studies very seriously, so not doing well on an exam was not easy for him.
“Oh honey, I’m sorry!” She threw her arms around him, pulling him into an embrace. “If it makes you feel any better, I didn’t do well on my essay either. Why don’t we do something fun tonight, to get our minds off our terrible day!”
Ominis pulled back, a smile now gracing his beautiful face. “That sounds like a wonderful idea, my dear! Let me take a shower and then we can plan our evening.”
She looked on as Ominis began to strip down, fighting the urge to pounce on him right then and there. Her eyes studied his body as he undressed - his toned arms, fit stomach, the trail of dark blonde hair below his belly button, lower.
She shook her head to pull herself out of her inappropriate thoughts, grateful that he couldn’t see the way she was ogling him as he wrapped a towel around his waist and exited the room. Not wanting to wait around in his bedroom, she headed downstairs, where she found Garreth in the common area, devouring a bowl of pasta.
“Is everything alright? I saw Gaunt seemed pretty upset when he got here.” he asked with a mouth full of food.
She rolled her eyes at Garreth’s terrible manners, and went on to explain the horrible day they both had. As she spoke, Garreth continued to eat his spaghetti, and it gave her an idea.
“That really sucks!” Garreth said through another mouthful of food. “A few of us guys are going to the movies tonight, and then we’re going to get some beers. I know Ominis can’t actually see the movie, but he likes to listen to them. You’re welcome to tag along!”
“Thanks for the offer, Weasley but we’ll pass. We have plans tonight anyway!”
“Well, make sure nobody catches you here after 10. You know you’re not allowed to be here after 10!” Garreth said the last bit in a mocking tone while she laughed, knowing full well that Ominis never followed that rule.
When she made her way back upstairs, she found Ominis getting dressed. She once again ogled him as he put on a satin black button-down, which he paired with black skinny jeans. He paused for a moment before chuckling.
“You know, I can feel you staring at me again.”
She let out a bashful laugh. “Sorry baby, I can’t help it, you’re just so pretty to look at.”
Ominis smiled. “Heard that a few of the guys were going out to a movie. Figured we could go and then I can take you to dinner afterwards.”
“Actually, I thought maybe we could stay in. We’ve got the entire house to ourselves after all! I thought I could cook us some dinner!”
She didn’t have much skill when it came to cooking, the roles of house chefs belonging to Garreth and a girl named Poppy in her house, but she was eager to do something fun for Ominis, and she hoped it would take both their minds off their bad day.
“Oh darling, that would be lovely!”
It was not lovely. Twenty minutes in and she had already shattered a bowl, dropped raw chicken on the floor, and spilled pasta sauce on herself. Despite the chaos she declined help, Ominis having shouted “Darling, are you alright? Do you need any help?” three times in the short time she had been in the kitchen.
Her luck began to turn around, or so she thought, when she successfully had two chicken breasts cooking nicely on the stove. She then turned her attention to a pot she had filled with water that was starting to boil. She grabbed a handful of spaghetti, not bothering to measure if it was an appropriate amount for two people, and tossed it into the water. Figuring she had some time before she’d need to return to her pasta, she headed over to the common area to find Ominis on the couch.
“How’s it going, my beautiful chef?”
“It’s FINALLY going alright!” she giggled as she straddled his lap, her arms coming up around his neck.
“I’m so glad. I can’t wait to taste what you’ve got cooking for us!” Ominis placed his arms on her back, pulling her against his chest as his lips found hers. Their tongues danced, and after a few seconds, her hips started moving, grinding against his lap. She began to moan softly against his lips as Ominis’s hands shot up her skirt, taking hold of her ass. He guided her as she grinded her center against the growing bulge in his pants.
Her hands moved from Ominis’s neck to his chest as she began to open the buttons on his shirt when he abruptly pulled away from her lips, sniffing the air around him. “Darling, do you smell that? It smells like - “
“Oh shit!” She shouted as she jumped off of her boyfriend’s lap, running to the kitchen. The fire alarm began to blare as she was met with the sight of her dry spaghetti on fire. She began to panic, frantically opening cabinets until she found the pot’s lid, slamming the lid on to the pot, forcing the flames to smother. It took the pair several minutes to free the room of smoke, the girl bursting into tears once they had finished.
“I’m so sorry Ominis! I just wanted to do something nice for us after the horrible day we had. I’m so sorry I ruined dinner and made things worse!”
Ominis planted a kiss on her forehead before pulling his sobbing girlfriend into his arms. “Nonsense darling, the effort alone was more than enough. No matter how bad my day is, once I’m with you, it all fades away. I love you, sweetheart! It’s okay! I promise. We can always order a pizza.”
“I feel the same way. You make even the worst days amazing.” She sniffled. “I love you, Ominis.”
One hour and one pizza pie later, the couple was snuggled on the couch watching tv. Drowsiness began to overtake the girl, as she let out a yawn.
“Do you mind if I hop in your shower? I’m getting sleepy.”
“Of course. Just give me a moment!”
Without another word, Ominis walked off, walking stick in hand, leaving her on the couch. She thought nothing of it, figuring he just wanted to use the bathroom, or perhaps clean it up before she went in; that is until she heard Ominis calling her name from the bathroom upstairs.
She pulled open the bathroom door to find a bubble bath waiting for her, the smell of lavender and roses wafting through the air, and Ominis already in the tub.
“Ominis!” she exclaimed, the sweet gesture almost making her cry.
“Get in darling, before the water gets cold! And before the rest of the guys get back.”
She was about to undress when she was hit with another, less dangerous idea than her last one. She left the bathroom, returning a few moments later with a bottle of wine and a carton of strawberries.
The couple soaked in their bath, playing with the bubbles, drinking the wine straight from the bottle, and feeding each other strawberries. As Ominis began to massage shampoo into his girlfriend’s scalp, she reminisced about the terrible day she had, and how it turned around so quickly thanks to Ominis. She was so grateful for him and she found herself falling deeper and deeper in love with him with each passing day. Ominis felt the same, wondering to himself what he would do without her in his life. He loved her more than anything else in the world.
They finished in the bath just in time to hear the sound of the boys returning home. Not wanting to hear their complaints of “why are you allowed to have a girl here after hours and we can’t?”, Ominis quickly brought her back to his bedroom, where they got ready to call it a night.
After changing into one of his oversized shirts and nothing else, she joined him in bed, nuzzling into him as he wrapped his arms around her. As they snuggled, Ominis forgot about the exam he failed, and she forgot about the paper she bombed. They both just focused on each other’s breathing until they drifted off to sleep.

Expanding Bootcamp - Chapter 3 (Male Wg Story)
Summary: After Salazar’s food competitions began, more people started to join for the overindulgence. Will and his friends hope to stay out of it for the most part. But when the cadets start to entice others to join actively, the situation starts to raise questions. Is Will and his friends capable of staying out of the competitions or some of them will fall to their cravings?
(The following is a male weight gain fic. This is for the most part a slow burn deal)
The next day Connor and I get to the chow hall for lunch, and we share tables with the twins. We see that the eating competitions of Salazar take a different turn for lunches. They will be more tame, revisiting Salazar’s tasting idea. Mixing and mashing with the different food in the cafeteria, meats with different sauces and sides trying to impress one another, trying to be modest so they can go to town with dinner.
At the beginning it's just a little game between them and nobody minds, but at some point, people started to stand up and try to solve disputes with people outside their group.
They will come to your table and ask you to try this? and what do you think of that?
After rejecting an offer from another cadet Jones burst
“God, can't they keep their mess to their own group? this is getting tiring!”
“I know what you mean” -says Carlos behind him.
He is coming with his tray in hand hoping to sit with us, besides him is Hill with his tray as well. Once we are all together Carlos tries to explain an idea.
“I know that Salazar and his friends are just trying to be playful and bond, but I just want to have my meals in peace. I'm hoping that if we sit together and reject their offers they will eventually stop”
I don't tend to share meals with so many people but for the sake of keeping the food reviewers at bay I'm willing to try, I look at Connor ready to ask for his opinion and he just nods with a smile in my direction.
“I like the sound of that, it's tiring enough to deal with Carlos to also have Neil as a shadow offering treats” -adds Hill.
“Oh come on Hill, you know you love my company”-Carlos adds trying to reach out for a hug knowing Hill hates them.
“Remember I catched you on today’s run. So, no hugs”-he replies right away.
Carlos recoils like a spring and continues to eat.
the twins laugh at the display and Daniel says “Well at least we will have something less to worry about, I don't know you but I'm a bit troubled with how things are developing around here”
“True, at least it was fun when we were the loudest pair here. But with the food competitions unless we say goodbye to our abs, there is no way to tag along. -says Jones
“Is that your worry?”-Daniel bites back.
“Sure, if we lose the abs, how are we going to score?” -Jones says as if making the most obvious question in the world.
The twins have this issue of not managing to get a partner . . . ever. It could be because they boast of their looks, the fact that they are never apart from one another for more than a second or that they get jealous as soon as one gets a date and the other doesn't. But regardless, part of the reason they stay in top physique is due to their desire to find love.
“If that's your biggest concern then why not try and score with one of the guys in Salaza’s table, they seem more than friendly?” -Hill asks with the same monotone voice, making it hard to distinguished if he is joking or being serious on the matter
“Of course not, have you seen them eat? they wouldn't appreciate these gains” -Jones adds while flexing his arm.
“I could appreciate it” -says Neil behind him.
While we talked, he got closer to ask for our opinion on a dish and listened to some of our conversation. When we turned around to see him, he winked at Jones, ate a piece of chicken tender from his plate and walked back to his table. He was going back to his table with a swing to his walk, almost as if showing off his now slightly plumper hips.
Daniel was holding his laughter not for Neil but for Jones that looked as red as a tomato.
The next morning, I woke up early to workout with Connor. As we talked on the way there, not really looking where I’m going, I ended up crashing against something soft. It was Salazar, he was talking with Bradley in the Hallway.
He looks like he has grown more since the last time we talked, his belly growing to eclipse most of my view, his legs like tree trunks, his arms pressing against his side accentuating the start of moobs and his face looking rounder from the extra fat. We knew he was growing but up close its outstanding and it's no wonder with his track record. From all the cheers and shouts we hear at meals he seems to be winning every food challenge. They both keep their muscular bodies, Bradley more than Salazar at least. But for the amount of weight Bradley was carrying, he is looking less like a quarterback and more like an off-season linebacker.
“Im sorry Sal, I wasn't watching”
“No problem Will, you would need to do force to harm me with your size haha”
“Yeah I guess so haha, hey we are going to the gym. Do you guys want to tag along?”
He looked at Bradley for a second and replied with a disinterested shrug “Not really, we were just heading to the chow hall. they have cinnamon rolls if you are the first to get there and we need to keep the bulk going”
I shouldn't try to get involved in the situation, but I get worried for Salazar and Bradley and let my tongue get the best of me.
“I don't want to get in the way, but don't you think you should be cutting a bit now?”
He looks puzzled as if not understanding the comment and then he starts to laugh.
“Oh no Will, of course not. Its ok for you to ask, in my height is hard to build muscle without a strong base so all of this is necessary” -he adds slapping his belly that jiggles for a second before stopping.
“I get that . . . but with the food competitions and all, aren't you afraid of going too far?” -Connor replies
Salazar took a second and for a moment I was afraid of touching a nerve. But he smiles and with his chubby face his face radiates confidence.
“I know what you both mean but soon enough you will see how this gets results, and who knows maybe you will come ask for advice”
With that Bradley and Salazar walk away towards the chow hall and Connor and I just come to terms more with the fact that there is no dialogue to convince them to stop what's in motion.
That day after finishing our assignments I got a stomachache. It could be something I ate that didn't mix well with me. So, I decided to go to the infirmary for some medicine. Once inside I walk to this office at the other end of the building. I knock on the door, and he calls me to get in. I notice Doctor Donovan seems to have gained some weight. His cheeks look a bit puffier, and a bigger belly is pushing against his medical robe. Apparently even those not eating in the chow hall can indulge.
I explain my symptoms and he tell me to sit down while he looks for a quick remedy.
I ask if it's better to move to a cubicle.
“Oh there is no need, unless you are unable to stand on your own, I can evaluate you in my office. Just don't faint now haha”
While he looks for the medicine in his supplies, I see his pants struggling a bit as he bends over for a cabinet. Trying to cover the awkward silence I look for something to talk about. And my curiosity gets the best of me.
“So, why haven't you been eating with us lately? afraid of getting a stomachache as well? haha”
He retrieved the medicine and as he stands upright, we both hear a little rip. He blushed a bit, maybe concerned with the source of the sound, or my comment that reminds him of his growing middle and I’m immediately regretting the question realizing the connotation.
I was ready to be reprimanded for asking on a matter that's none of my business, but instead he says that he’s been helping the commander with some assignments of his own, so they both eat in the main hall for most meals.
“Not that I wouldn't like to eat with you all guys, the last time we were at the chow hall it was pretty lively”
“Yeah they are having their own fun at meals”
While we talk I see a file archive half open behind the doctor. He took my medical summary from it and I don't think too much about it, but I wonder what the files say about us at base.
Another couple of days pass and things around the base stay the same. Easy work, lots of free time and since the eating challenges continue, lots of food.
After Salazar managed to entertain the team with the eating competitions, more people joined him to try a shot at the challenge.
During lunch Carlos, Hill and I are waiting for the others at a table and Neil approaches.
“Oh Will you have to try this idea we had” -one of them tells me while
I see the half-eaten plate that so many of them have already tried and replied.
“Ah no thanks, I’m kind of full now hehe.”
He shrugs and offers some to Carlos.
“No thanks I'm fine” -he replies but after focusing on the plate he stops Neil before he leaves.
“Wait, is that sweet corn?”
“Yes, it’s new, it’s so good you have to try it out.”
Carlos gets closer to the plate and gets a spoonful of the mush, and moans at the test. He looks at me and acts naturally.
“Ahem yeah it's pretty good, thanks.”
While Carlos tries the food Connor and the twins arrive, they see the whole thing.
Neil looks excited and raises his voice so the rest of his table can hear “See they love my plate, put another point to me.”
I cross looks with Connor that suits down at the table and is as puzzled as me at how serious these people take their game.
Before Neil gets back to his table, he looks at the twins and says “Hi Jones. Maybe we could hang out again, later today if you are free”
Jones starts to change colors not knowing what to say, “Sure no problem, as long as I can bring along these bad boys” - he says and flexes his arm.
We all cringe at the sight of Jones' miserable attempt to be a human. Those two really do not know what to do when someone tries to flirt with them, but Jones takes the cake.
Neil laughs it off and goes back to his table.
Once we were all together Daniel said “What is that about? I thought you said you were not into Neil, and what does he mean about, Again?”
Then he looks at Carlos and adds
“And we said not agreeing to their food, otherwise they won't stop!”
Hill looks at Carlos and says “Its true Carlos you have stabbed us all in the back and the only solution is execution by firing squad, I’ll look for the materials on the storage unit”
Daniel glares at Hill for mocking his concern and Carlos interjects “I know, I'm sorry guys it won't happen again. . . well unless Neil gets invested in you Jones”
We all look at Jones waiting for a reply and he signs “Ok here is the thing, I had a little crush on Neil when we joined the team. He is my type ok, and even with the extra weight he looks cute”
Nobody says anything to object to the matter. Daniel looks at him with an expression that can only mean, keep going and so he does.
“So yeah, the day he tried to bring us food. He approached me afterwards to hang out in the recreation room”
Daniel looks puzzled and Jones adds “The day I got assigned the watchtower and you were patrolling, I kind dof left my post to hang out with him”
“Jones you could have gotten in trouble just to hang out with Neil, you could have done that at any other time!” -Daniel adds exasperated.
“I know but he was really nice, I had fun and nothing happened. So no big deal”
We look at him, nobody commenting against the notion. Connor looks about ready to add something but refrains from it.
“And maybe I will go and spend some time with him again today!” -he continues to eat, and we let the matter end there.
I could see a worried look on Daniel's face, but we continued our meal and got back to work.
The next day while I do my assignments, I catch Jones and Neil on what could only be described as a date, or as much of a date you can have in a military base. They were sitting in the field with some food, Jones talking nonstop and Neil rubbing his arms. They seem to have fun and I move on.
The week passes by and the changes continue, people have started to go with their shirt’s outs, food stains have plagued some uniforms and during nights people have started to snore or mumble in their sleep.
One night Salazar woke up and left the barracks. He kicked my bed by accident on his way out and woke me up by accident. He didn't notice I was awake, so he just left the room for good. Trying to go back to sleep I felt my throat dry up. So I standed up to take some water from my bottle, and realized it was empty. Walking to the chow hall to fill up the bottle I see Salazar is already inside. He was having a midnight snack, or meal for the size of it. I enter to get the water hoping that he won't notice me with how focused he is on the meal.
On my way out the blasts the room with a belch and I turn back, we lock eyes and he smiles. He shouts “Hey dude come tag along while I'm here, no need to be sneaky”
“Oh don't worry Sal, I'm on my way back to bed, have a good meal tho” -I said while getting out of the chow hall and walking back to the barracks.
Once I'm in my bed a while later Salazar comes back huffing and puffing from a full stomach, ever since then more and more cadets would wake up to snack during the nights. Every time they will come back with a packed full belly and gasping for air.
The recreation room has become a massive point for gathering. People will do tournaments and pass their control to the next person over and over again. People camping out of the room snacking or sleeping while waiting for their turn.
While walking the base cadets are found boasting to one another about their recent achievements in the challenges at the chow hall, some of them eating mid day and joking about how they are all in a “dirty bulk”.
Jones and Neil continue to go out, one night during dinner he comes with Daniel and after taking his food he comes to us and say
“Hey guys, I will be eating with Neil for a while. Things are going well between us and I want to spend some extra time with him”
Daniel looks mortified but he remains quiet, nobody says anything and Connor finally breaks the silence
“Sure Jones enjoy the meal, you can always eat with us later”
Everyone adds congratulations to him and encourages him to go for it, except Daniel. Jones looks toward his brother but he doesn't say anything and after thanking everyone for their support he walks to Salazar's table. He sits besides Neil and gets a passionate kiss, some cadets whistle and cheer.
We continue to have dinner like always, Carlos is eating more than usual and he mentions how the food is tasting better now.
We let it slide and finish the meal and Daniel asks if we want to hang out afterwards. We all agreed and went to the field. Once there Daniel start to ramble
“Incredible, he just leaves us for Salazar’s little recruiter”
“Come on Daniel, it's not like they are building an army he is not doing anything criminal”-Carlos says
“That we know so far!, don't you all find it weird how suddenly they all start to act the same?”-he says looking angry and agitated.
“Daniel, if they are building an army, what are they fighting? the gym, the military, us? besides being lazy or hungry is universal not like they are drones” -I add
He looks at me and tries to come with a rebuttal but seems to realize how silly it all sounds.
“It's just so annoying how they just plucked him like nothing happened, he has been with Neil day and night for the past couple of days. It's just not how we do things!”
“Nobody plucked him Daniel, he went there out of his own volition” -Connor adds trying to be reasonable.
“Could it be possible that this is about being a tiny bitsy jealous of him dating Neil?” -Carlos asks nervously
“Of course not, I don't even like Neil!”
“You know he is not talking about Neil, he has a right to time of his own; and if you truly trust your brother, you have to allow him to drift away and come back” -Hill adds standing up and looking at Carlos “I'm going to bed, there is not much we can add to this situation”
Carlos stands up and says “Ok that's my queue to go as well. Have a good night everyone and Daniel, It's the first time he is having someone handling his energy. Cut him some slack”
With that Carlos and Hill go back to the barracks. We stay in silence for a second, Daniel sits down on the field, looking upon the stars and Connor whispers in my ear
“I'm going to bed. Try and talk to him, maybe it will help. You know use your Will charm”
Connor excuses himself and goes to the barracks leaving Daniel and me alone in the field. I get closer to him and I see he is looking at a picture of him and his brother. They are both kids in the picture playing around.
“I've been with him for everything, his silly blog in highschool, the time he wanted to go to the Appalachian trail when we were kids and our parents said no; He tried to get a ride there on his own and we were known as the runaway twins. Even when he tried to do that stupid prank channel. Do you have any idea how many opportunities I lose because my name is attached to ‘double pranks’?”
I try to remain serious, even when my brain bombards me of memories of that youtube channel. Jones couldn't shut up about it when we met and made me promise not to tell Daniel he showed it to me.
I put my hand in his shoulder and ask “I think what Carlos asked was, that maybe you are jealous of Jones getting a partner first”
“He doesn't have a partner, they've been dating for two weeks!”
“Come on Daniel you know what I mean”
he sighs and folds the picture, putting it back in his pocket he looks at me and replies.
“It's possible, I have botched so many opportunities with people before because I want to support him. That now that he is having a first time getting things his way I don't know”
“It's ok Daniel, you have done everything with him for a long time. It's natural that you feel a bit left aside. But he is still here and you are still siblings, no matter what happens you will stick to one another by the end”
He looks at me with a pained expression so I add “And yeah It's true that he is being a little bit weird but give it a couple of days and he will be back to the same old, same old. Even if he doesn't we have your back”
He shakes his head and nods my way “You are right, this is so dumb. I'm sorry I dragged you all into this. It's just not like him to react like this”
We stand up and walk back to the barracks to let time fix things.
The next few days that followed were marked by morning runs that were slowly having less and less people, Carlos slowing down and Hill catching on to him earlier than usual, the machines at the gym getting less crowded and Bradley showing up to train less often. At this point Salazar has stopped showing up all together.
During all of this Daniel looks pained with the distance from his brother. But we keep him company to help pass the time and he stays strong in his resolve. Sadly my comment of Jones coming back to his common self were . . . wrong.
He has stopped showing up to training to spend time with Neil, and spending time with Salazar and his team is rubbing some of their traits on him. He will participate in challenges and go to town for the sake of the validation of his loverboy.
whenever I cross paths with them and ask about the routine they reply about bulking for the moment and coming back to the gym soon. But I find it hard to believe, in the short time they’ve been together Neil managed to get Jones on track along with the rest of his group.
He has started to develop a beginner's gut and as Daniel started to notice, he started to speculate more and more of something going wrong. I know his words are a result of his pain, but I would be lying if I said some of his words haven't ingrained in my mind. Swirling during the nights looking at the ceiling of the barracks, especially when another cadet comes huffing from a midnight binge.
I try as much as I can, not to pay too much attention to the matter at hand but it's starting to become harder to ignore.
A few days into the week I have to take a shift in the watchtower and Carlos is the person with the shift before mine. I cross paths with Hill that's going there to bring Carlos some snacks.
“I owe him something so he asked me to bring him these” -he says while showing me fries with tons of toppings.
When we get to the top there is Carlos looking around the base finishing a protein bar, he throws the wrapper to the floor and belches loudly since he is unaware we are there. And I clear my throat to make our presence known
Carlos looks back at us with a face that said earth please eat me whole.
“Wow you can't even say sorry in front of our visits?” -Says Hill while giving Carlos his food
“Sorry guys, I've been just a bit gassy”
His belly rumbles and I notice his belly straining his shirt, it's looking bigger than before but his chest is the main attraction on display. the buttons on his chest are straining and I try to look away not to seem intrusive.
“And hungry it seems” -Hill Replies
“It's nothing really, it's just a little bloat, it will pass in a few days. I'm trying a new diet and it's common to get bloated at the start and . . .”
Before Carlos can ramble anymore Hill covers his mouth and says “Please shut up”
Then he gets his hand away from Carlos in a swift motion and Hill looks angry like I haven't seen him in a while. Carlos is lolling his tongue out with a cheeky smile.
“For Hades sake, did you just lick my hand?”
“Yeah, want me to lick something else?”
“Ok you have your snacks. I'm getting the fuck out of here.”
Hill gets out followed by a laughing Carlos.
I stay in the watchtower, cleaning the mess Carlos left behind him. Enough wrappers to fill a snack box, did he really have this all in a sitting and still asked Hill for more?. Maybe Daniel is right and we are turning into fat drones.
I stayed patrolling in the watchtower, I leaned in the border of the tower looking down at everyone dealing with their day. Boredom got the best of me and by the end of my shift I had fallen asleep in an awkward position, only waking up when Connor passed by to bring me something to eat and hang out.
I decided to pass by the infirmary to get a pain killer. That nap on the watchtower was worse than I thought. What I heard was Doctor Donovan inside moaning and wrinkling of aluminum paper. I knock at the door, and I can hear him scrambling around. He opens the door and I notice immediately that he got bigger than last time. His belly is pushing against his robe so much so you can see the gaps between the buttons begging for release. His arms look like sausages inside the sleeves and his pants are at two meals of retirement.
He lets me in to have my check up and I explain the situation. Around the cubicle there are pieces of fries and wrappers from different dishes from the chow hall all scattered around.
“Here it is, a light pain killer. We don't want you going around with something too strong” - he says with a jovial tone.
“Thanks doctor, I don't want to intrude but we haven't seen you or the commander around as much is everything ok?”
“Oh sure Will, but thanks for asking. The scientific team has been giving the commander a lot of paperwork and he hasn't been able to finish a stack of papers before a new one gets added”
“And you have been helping I imagine”
“Of course, we are a team after all” - he says with his chest puffing out.
His chest looks so strained in his clothes I was scared a button would fly to my eyes, at least in that case I'm already in the infirmary.
Once I'm out I tell Connor What I heard
“It's good to know they are ok, but having so much paperwork he can't regulate the camp? it’s kind of a problem” - Connor says.
I could only agree. With the commander out of service due to the scientist's continued request and the changing tone of our bootcamp all I can do is hope the experiment is close to an end.
I hope you all enjoyed this week’s chapter, get ready for some changes as the story picks up pace. Thanks again for your support and let me know in the comments if you have any ideas of what you would like to see next. << First Chapter / <Previous Chapter /  Next Chapter >>

20 questions for 20 writers!
thanks to @accidentallyadorable for tagging me! this was fun. :3
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
30! only 20 are visible from my profile, though. my older fics and drabbles are quarantined to a separate account, and a few things are posted anonymously.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
113,190 words.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
it’s mostly the locked tomb these days. i also have a few old works for the penumbra podcast, the magnus archives, and the adventure zone—and a few even older works for harry potter and percy jackson, but those are on ff.net so i can pretend they don’t exist.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
it’s familiar (but not too familiar) - fluffy griddlehark time travel fic. this was my first attempt at writing them and i could definitely do a better job now, but the prose still holds up.
alive, barely breathing - post-canon griddlehark first time fic that’s fucked-up and sad. sometimes i look at the comments when i want to feel good about my writing. :3
bring your hunger - post-canon griddlehark grief/relationship study. also a WIP. (honestly, this one might go on anon for a bit—it’s vulnerable in ways i don’t want to explain, and i’m shying away from writing the next chapter because the Fear of Being Known got to me a little.)
it’s not unusual - fluffy modern AU where team 69 go to a bar and play catan. palamedes has an oral fixation, because of course he does. this one is campal with background griddlehark getting-together, but i might write a sequel from harrow’s POV someday.
bad idea right? - modern AU chatfic inspired by this post by eskildit. it’s about camilla dealing with the paldulcie situationship™️ & enduring so much dyke drama thanks to the nature of her friend group. it received a podfic recently, which is fun!
(… i also want to write a camdulcie sequel for this one. i’ve been rotating the idea frequently.)
5. Do you respond to comments?
almost always. there are a few scattered comments i haven’t replied to yet, but i like responding! it’s an excuse to drop more lore about the fic and the writing process, IMO.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angiest ending?
the ace cam fic i haven’t finished yet, which will probably be posted on anon. (i feel like people are going to attack me for poor representation or something, but it’s inspired by my own experiences, so. can’t win them all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
something sweet is pure, uncomplicated fluff, so i guess i’ll go with that!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not really. i’ve blocked a few people for being rude, but i haven’t gotten hate in years.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
occasionally. i’ve only posted 4 explicit fics, but so far it’s a pretty even mix of f/f, f/m, and other.
10. Do you write crossovers?
i have a tlt/w359 fusion AU i want to pick up again! i need to untangle some threads of the metaplot, though.
(also, the first fic i published on ff.net was a harry potter/rise of the guardians crossover. yes. it was cringe. yes, it’s probably still posted on the internet if you want to find it.)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
nope.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes, actually! a few of my old hp fics were translated into spanish or chinese.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
i wrote a round-robin fic with the campal server once. i also started co-writing a fic with quinn a while ago (before we both got busy with school) that i’d like to return to at some point, because the concept still makes me vibrate with glee.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
i’m not sure that i have one, actually? i’m a multishipper to my core.
15. What's one WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i have so many WIPs in my google docs that i’ll probably never finish.
i’d like to revisit my fic about necromancers & dysautonomia some day, but my writing style has changed so much since then. i might have to rewrite what i’ve posted.
16. What are your writing strengths?
i’m frequently complimented on my worldbuilding. i’m good at examining the implications of things that other people might not think about, so my plots are original even when i’m writing a fandom trope. (i can’t wait to post my harrow nova AU for this exact reason.)
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
sigh. pacing. i write from very close POVs, but sometimes i get too far into the character’s head, and it drags the story down. i’m trying to write sharper prose, but i’m going through an awkward growth phase as a writer—i know the structure i want, but it’s a struggle to get there concisely.
also, i over-edit instead of writing new words, which does me no favors.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i guess it depends on context? i have a pretty good grasp on code-switching from being bilingual but not quite fluent, but the memory of that one klance fic haunts me.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
i mentioned my first published fic earlier, but the first fic i wrote was a percy jackson self-insert fic when i was twelve.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
indelible! cam and pal figure out that dulcinea isn’t who she says she is at the fifth’s anniversary party, but it doesn’t change anything. <3

Hello, hope you’re doing well <3 Once again, congratulations on reaching 500 followers! Keep up the good work =^6u6^=
For the event, may I ask for something lighthearted where the reader tries to push Rook to approach Neige at the dance, but ends up approaching him instead?
This might just be the longest fic I’ve written yet.  I first read the request and thought, ‘Oh, so reader accidentally asks out Neige.’  Then I thought no, they mean Rook.  But wait, what if it ended up being both…  So needless to say this fic gets to be a little bit of a crack fic but I think it is fun and wraps up nicely.  Enjoy!
Tumblr media
“Trickster, I’ve been watching you for weeks now and I’d like to tell you more about it,” Rook says before flashing you a large grin.  You hold up your hand to his face as though to signal him to stop, “No, absolutely not.”  Rook’s brow creases and he shakes his head sadly, “Non?  I thought I had it that time for sure.”  You give him a small chuckle, “You can’t lead with that sort of thing Rook.  We are used to your…eccentricities…here but telling your idol you’ve watching him for years is only going to freak him out.”  Rook seems to consider your words closely.  “Perhaps this is too much to hope for, Prefect.  I thank you for your help, but I believe it is best if a hunter remains in the shadows.”
You pat him on the back, “That’s just nerves talking.  The Rook I know has all the tenacity of the Beautiful Queen and won’t give up so easily.  So, lets revisit the rules and try again.”  You clap your hands like an instructor directing a class to resume an exercise and, in a way, that is what you were.  A few weeks ago, Crowley had announced another one of his mad schemes; a multi-campus goodwill dance.  You’d been taking photos of the Science Club for the school paper when a third year from Pomefiore had come in all aflutter with news.  “It’s everyone!” he exclaimed, walking in the door, and heading toward a table where his friends wait.  He’d certainly caught everyone’s attention with his unsolicited announcement, but it was the excitement at the table of friends that really piqued your curiosity.
“Curious, Trickster?”  Rook asks mischievously.  You jump and pass him a guilty smile.  “Maybe a little.  What do you think is so exciting?”  Rook’s eyes narrow in delight as he passes you the news, “Le petit oiseau says that he has heard who our guests will be.”  You nod at Rook to continue.  “It will be everyone.”  You look at him a moment before gasping, “Everyone!?  That is so many people!”  Rook gives you a secretive smile, as though delighting in sharing this news with you.
Speaking of sharing news, you lean over and poke Trey in the shoulder to get his attention, “Hey, Trey, I just heard it is going to be all of Royal Sword.  You’ll get to see Che’nya for sure now!”  Trey adjusts his goggles with a lopsided smile, “You don’t say?  That’s great news.  Riddle had wondered when the dance was announced how they’d decided the attendee list.”  You beamed back at him, happy to know you’d get to see your RSA friend again.  You didn’t have many people you knew outside of NRC, but there were a few.  Thinking of that thought, you turn to Rook.  “You realize this means you’ll have a chance to see Neige again too.”
Rook looks up with widened eyes and his mouth parts into an O.  “When you think about it,” you continue, “you could also even ask him to be your date to the dance!”  Your hand shoots forward to grab the flask Rook fumbles.  If you needed any indication of how shook he was at the thought, that was it.  You tilt your head and look at the hunter, “Not a fan of the idea?”  Rook looks at you, “Ah, mon amie, I am on fire over the idea but, moi?  I could never ask such a thing!”  Then, you saw something you had never expected to see.  Rook, who never seemed to be caught unaware, flushed slightly at the thought.
You look at him and slowly remark, “You want to take Neige to the dance.  Yeah…you should do that.  Rook,” you place a hand on his shoulder, “I’m going to help you.”  The hunter gasps and raises his hands in surprise.  “That’s right.  I’ll practice with you until you are ready.”  Then you clap your hands under your chin, “Alright!  Let’s go get you a date!”
You were not getting Rook a date.  It had been days since you’d started role-playing with Rook as ‘Neige’ and still, each attempt he made to converse with the idol was a disaster.  Rook had little sense of social boundaries; his conversation attempts varied from far too intimate to wildly disturbing.  You’d witnessed many attempts at starting a request to attend the dance and each one was a disaster.  You were starting to question this could be a success even to yourself.  “Maybe he needs an example,” came a voice from behind you.  You turn to see Epel watching you from the staircase above you.  You look up at him, “What do you mean?”  He sighs, “We’ve all heard ya practicing, and he jest ain’t gonna get it.  So show’em.”  Then Epel rolls his eyes at you and wanders off.  Show him, eh?  That is just crazy enough to work.
You give a subtle signal towards the bushes and are gratified to see Rook’s head emerge and give you a nod before retreating into cover.  Time to start the plan.  So, you were really going to do this now.  After Epel had mouthed off at you about giving Rook an example, you’d considered if that wasn’t actually a brilliant plan.  With the way your current practice had gone, you’d decided it was worth a shot.  You were going to ask RSA idol Neige La Blanche to the school dance.  Only, you’d make sure that he turned you down in the end.  After all, you weren’t trying to GO to the dance with him, just ASK him.  Then Rook could use your efforts as an example to base his own attempt on.
Right on time, Neige emerges from the gymnasium with his companions.  Ok, time to embarrass yourself.  You jog up to him, earning a scowl from Grum and a wave from Hop.  “Hi guys, remember me?” you ask in a friendly fashion.  “Unfortunately,” grumbles Grum under his breath.  You pointedly ignore him and address Dominic, “School dance is coming up fast.  How exciting.”  He returns your cheer, “Oh yes, we are all so happy to attend such an event.”  You try to sound as innocently as possible when you ask, “So, are you all going together then?”  A chorus of agreement emerges from the bunch, and you congratulate yourself on getting there before anyone else has a chance to ask Neige.
Then, as though fate had taken pity on you, Neige smiles sweetly at you and remarks, “I’ve got a list I need to turn into your headmaster.  Can you show me the way, Prefect?”  You smile perhaps a bit too widely as you agree and elicit a gasp from Timmy.  It reminds you to control yourself and you quickly settle your face into a much less sinister expression.  “Follow me,” you tell the lovely boy, gesturing towards the main campus.
You make sure you’ve turned down the path and out of sight of the other RSA students before tapping Neige on the arm.  He turns his innocent gaze on you, and you ask, “Can I talk to you privately for a moment?”  You gesture to a small garden with ample buses surrounding it, trusting Rook will be able to get himself concealed somewhere while you focused on your ‘confession.’  You sat down on a bench and Neige sat beside you sunnily smiling at your nervous self.  “So, the dance.  You do plan to go, don’t you?”  His eyes scrunched closed in happiness as he declared, “Yes, I’m ever so excited!”  You peer at him from out of your lashes as you ask, “Do you plan to go with anyone?  Anyone special, I mean.”
His mouth rounds into a little O shape as he lifts his hand to his face.  Then he flushes and looks at you coyly, “No one has asked me yet.”  Then that perfect princess of a boy actually flutters his eyelashes at you and now you are taken aback.  What in the world.  “I..well, I guess someone probably will.  I mean, I’d love to go with you,” you finish lamely.  So much for setting a good example.  Only, Neige gasps in delight and leans forward, “Really?  You’re asking me to the dance?”  Now you know you’ve messed up.  You weren’t supposed to succeed and now you were on the edge of stealing Rook’s dream date to the dance.  Time to take drastic measures.
“Yes, I..I’ve been watching you for weeks now and I’d like to tell you more about it,” you cringe at using Rook’s line but honestly, he was now the best person to imitate to get out of this situation.  You hear an intake of breath caused by your confession, “You…you’re a fan of mine?  Prefect, I never knew!  I’m so happy!  I’m sure we will have a lot to talk about at the dance now!”  Your mouth hangs open and all you can do is mutely nod at him before gesturing that you should continue to the headmaster’s office.  You turn as you leave the secluded garden, swiveling your head around to try to locate Rook and silently beg for forgiveness but he is nowhere to be seen.
All the way back to Ramshackle, you rehearsed to yourself what you’d say when Rook finally caught up with you.  Hopefully, you’d have a chance to say it before he took out his disappointment on you.  You try to remind yourself that Rook wouldn’t do that but, after stealing his date, you weren’t so confident.  How much longer did you have?  Days?  Weeks?  Then, you heard the clicking of boots behind you on the path.  ‘Ah, so I guess my time is up,’ you think sadly.  Then you stand up straight, square your shoulders and turn to face him; ready to take whatever he deems you deserving of.
“Trickster,” Rook begins slowly.  You gulp down a lump, “Yes, Rook?” Then a large smile slowly spreads on his face, “That was très merveilleux!  My heart soared when you asked the fair Neige to the dance and, quelle surprise, when he accepted!”  Your composure breaks and you start apologizing, “Oh my gosh, I don’t know what happened.  I’m so sorry.  I never meant to take this from you!”  Finally, Rook does look surprised, “Why Trickster, I’m not upset.”  Then, as his expression turns into a sly smile, he elaborates, “In fact, I’m rather pleased by this outcome.  I had worried about asking my Idol to the dance and now I don’t have to.  In fact, I will have the distinct pleasure of observing two of my favorite people at the same time.  Très bien!”  You breathed a sigh of relief and gave the hunter an awkward chuckle.  You had a date to the dance and a fan club too.
Finally, the day of the dance arrived.  In the interval, your roles had swapped, and Rook had become a sort of mentor to you.  He helped you pick out a boutonniere to present to Neige, gave you several topics of conversation based on Neige’s known habits and offered you some much needed confidence boosters.  “Trickster, you look as radiant as the moon glimpsed on a still lake.  Would that I could be on the other side of the door when you knock to take in the full effect,” Rook waxes on poetically.  You casually wave him off with your hand, “Right, right.  I’m totally glamorous.”  Rook seems to hear the hesitation in your voice and sets a comforting hand on your shoulder, “Never fear, Trickster, for I shall be right there to guide you at the dance.”  That’s right, Rook was going to watch you at the dance and lend a hand.  Ok, you can do this.
You can’t do this, you think for the thousandth time as you lead Neige about the dance floor.  The pressure of escorting an idol was really taking a toll on you.  You felt the weight of people’s stares as you danced across the floor.  For his own part, Neige seemed blissfully unaware, smiling and chatting so merrily with you.  He seemed determined to spend the night like he was living in a dream, and you supposed, in a way, it also felt like that to you.  A simple commoner who somehow lands the lovely prince; it was a well-played out storyline and you had to admit you found the appeal in having the attention of such a charming boy.
You’d never managed to hold it though, without the attention of another.  You could occasionally catch a glimpse of Rook as you swept across the floor.  He’d been true to his word, taking in the sight of you both for the entirety of the dance; forgoing his own dance experience to support you in yours.  He cheerfully and silently offered suggestions to you by gesture.  Like now, as you see him lift two glasses of punch and carry them suggestively to a table in front of a private balcony.  “Neige,” you ask dutifully, “Would you like to take a break?”  He bats his large eyes and tentatively replies, “I could go longer if you prefer.  It’s up to you!”  Ah, so he was tired.  You silently thank Rook for noticing.  “I’m ready for some rest.  Let’s have some punch and find a quiet place to chat.”
You lead him to the table and pick up the glasses, offering him one.  “Mmm, this is so good,” Neige says after taking a small sip.  “Yeah, its my favorite flavor,” you reply, savoring the taste.  This seems to please your date as he exclaims, “We have so much in common!”  You give him a half-hearted smile, feeling slightly guilty that it is Rook that knows you both so well and not an achievement of your own efforts.  Maybe you ought to help Rook out by putting in a good word as a way of paying him back.
You continue leading Neige to the balcony and see a jacket hanging over the railing.  It was a little chilly, so you grab it and drape it over the boy’s shoulders.  He has a moment of surprise before offering you a cheery thanks.  “Neither of us was wearing a jacket though, so we’ll have to find its owner before we go and make sure they get it back!” he tells you.  You assure him, “Oh, don’t worry about that.  I’m pretty sure I know who this belongs to.  I’ll make sure I get it back to him later.  In fact,” you pause considering, “I think you know him.  Do you remember Rook Hunt from the VDC?”  Neige affirms, “Yes!  He is a great fan of mine.  I sometimes see him on campus.  He told me so much about you!”
This takes you aback.  “He told you about…me?” you ask in a surprised tone.  “Oh sure, whenever we are together, he only seems to talk about you,” Neige remarks while gazing at the distant stars.  This was new information to you.  Whenever you happened to meet the hunter lately, he’d only spoken about Neige.  Rook was a curious individual both exuberant and open while keeping certain sides of himself sheltered and hidden.  You wondered what it was about yourself that he’d found interesting enough to share with his idol.  A nagging thought hooks into your brain; if Rook had the chance to speak to Neige but chose to talk about you instead, did that mean he found you to be equally as fascinating as his idol?
The dance continued but you knew yourself to be distanced from it.  You absentmindedly completed dances and smiled at your dance partner and friends, but your thoughts were elsewhere.  The number of times your eye’s sought out Rook in the crowd drastically increased and, from his sly looks, he’d also noticed your interest.  It was almost a relief when the last song ended, and you were able to walk Neige over to his RSA companions and bid him a goodnight.  Neige had given your hand one final squeeze and earnestly wished that you’d be able to speak again soon.  You replied honestly that you hoped for that as well.  It wasn’t the same burning appreciation that Rook had but you’d come to feel that you also understood the appeal of the gentle boy.
“He is quite charming,” Rook remarks, appearing suddenly at your side.  You look down as you reply, “Yeah he is.”  You gaze at your feet, feeling oddly shy.  “Rook,” you cautiously begin, “When you are interested in a new target, how do you start to get to know them?”  He tilts his head, carefully considering your question, “I think the first step is always to observe.  I like to watch them closely until I have the essence of their appeal firmly in my grasp.”  You paused to consider that.
The dance was officially over but some of the livelier students had put on their own music to continue with their own private party.  Though it was soft as it drifted across the dance floor, you found yourself smiling and swaying with the beat.  “Rook, I do believe I need some lessons on up close observation.”  Then you lean in and wrap your arms around his neck, urging him to join you in a dance.  He laughs in a joyful tone, “Why Trickster, I think you’ve no need for lessons.  Look at how you’ve already caught me in your trap.”  You smirk at him, “I had a good teacher.”
The many songs drifting from different groups of students created a discordant sound but it hardly mattered.  Rook chose no particular melody for your dance.  Instead, he appeared to lead you at random to some beat only he could perceive.  It felt right though.  You had only just begun your detailed study of Rook Hunt but you’d long since known he moved to his own tune.  Now, you were simply joining him.  Finally looking his way and seeing him.  After all, observing someone closely was the first step to knowing them; someone you’d come to deeply admire had told you that.

heavy spoilers for chapter 23 of Always by your side by @ingo-ingoing-ingone!! this chapter was so fantastic i. didnt have words for it. ended up doing 6 (nearly 7) drawings for it instead. i think this is my record- it took me roughly 7 hours. a fair warning! this is both art and a comment to the fic in one. so its rather long!
Tumblr media
ok i had an Unreasonable amount of fun doing the background on this one. ended up looking up a lot of the celestial bodies mentioned in the fic, man are they cool! it was implied that Emmet didn't really have a body so! stars instead. the colors were fun- i dont often let myself just. color like this haha! this one was... reall amazing. a fantastic opener! i immediately latched onto the visuals and painted a picture in my mind. it was just so... astronomical?
Tumblr media
i actually struggled with how i was going to position these two for a while. at first it was just them coloring in a clearing- then i made them watching pokemon, and then. this! idk- there just something sweet in how Ingo turns around to look at Emmet and... lighting was funky for this one- how a forest shades the things beneath it will always hold a special place in my heart. these two interacting is always so wonderful to read. the gentle ribbing and teasing and... just them chilling and talking was so nice. the fact that it was dragons was even better! dragons are the best. i felt a very sweet and gentle moment needed an equally sweet and gentle drawing. if i could, i might have gone for line less on Ingo and Emmet here as well.
Tumblr media
right- this was the last one i did. i think its the only one that i didn't get specifically from what was written. i just... wanted to give Emmet cuddles alright? /lh i had another sketch exploring exactly what Emmet might look, but i think ill revisit that when i... haven't been drawing for 7 hours straight hgfireohgope. the one in this is more simplified. the horror of having your face show one emotion- not even the one your most known for... your voice is toneless and the only was you can show even a fraction of what you feel is by copying what you (supposedly) dead brother used to do. there is a quiet horror in that- and yet Emmet still goes on. he cant feel texture and yet... he deserves many nice things.
Tumblr media
this one!!! was originally going to be an Entire piece with a more "realistic" drawing of Ingo sitting behind a fire just like this. when i sketched this out (in the middle of reading it) that was the plan. Jedi saved me by making Emmet draw it like this. you saved me probably an hour ghirepoghpeirh. i... still might draw it how i wanted at some point. also the lighting was added last minute! i thought it would look... more messy with the light of the fire shining on it. i think it looks nice. the scene was sweet and, like Emmet mentioned he did, i put emphasis (or uh... thicker more defined lines) around peoples faces to better define their happiness. it made me happy to read them being happy and then draw them being happy <3
Tumblr media
them!!!!!! i do not think it is a secret at All how much i love this au. i was More than happy to draw them again. and!!! being happy!!! perfect. i remembered this was a dream, and decided to blur the background quite a bit of this one- lopsided like its not really being thought about. adored this one. them!! teasing each other!! just!! going through a day!! perfect. amazing. it was really fun the way the small details of their routine was captured. from Ingo just. turning to goop so he doesn't have to pick up his clothes to Emmet just. accepting everything that happened from the mental connection to the shared feelings.
Tumblr media
DRAMATIC FORESHORTENING!!!! i almost wanted to play it up More but then i might lose Ingo's expression. the background for this was fun to do- emphasis! strong colors!! looks like something broke. like something was torn away. this whole bit is just. exactly what Emmet fears and its just. ough. Ingo would never do this- we know this, Emmet knows this two- he knows how ridiculous Ingo was being here. and then the climax with Emmet just... falling off... amazing. Ingo's horrified expression is what caught my attention here, though i had a few more ideas depicting Ingo leaning over Emmet. i figured a dramatic drawing here would fit.
so! there ya go. i had. so much fun doing this and! thank you so much for writing this and sharing with us Jedi. if you keep this up, ill just have to keep making more drawings!! i don't think words are enough- not even sure if these can properly express how i felt reading it all (i actual had to get up and pace around bc i got so excited) but! i think that your art inspired my own art is a very beautiful thing.
lets all keep making art with one another forever.

it’s definitely not the best thing written and if i were to do it all again now it’d definitely be very different but i look back on it fondly for what it was,,like i truly was just writing to make myself happy and i did! i remember laughing to myself while i was writing and i had such a fun time. and for whatever reason its my most popular fic on ao3! how wild

hii, you mentioned you were around during the fandom's heyday, i was wondering if you had any favorite fics from back in the day you'd like to share? <3
Hello! Yes, BTR was actually my official "introduction" to online fandom when I was younger :) I spent so much time here on tumblr and fanfiction.net, which was a lot of fun because the fandom was at its biggest and most active.
Good timing with this ask, because I was actually thinking about making a post with some of the fics that were popular (or that I personally enjoyed) back when the show was on. I still have them bookmarked on my old laptop! I'll select a handful and put them under a read more.
Quick disclaimer that I cannot attest for the quality of any of these fics now. I haven't revisited most of these since I originally read them, though the main details have cemented themselves in my brain on account of my past self having read them over and over and over. Still, I don't know if my older, adult self would find them any good in regards to writing quality or the actual content.
• Ok. So, I have to start out by mentioning Laura (known as Miss Fenway), who I wrote briefly about in my BTF Fandom Lore post. When I tell you that she was the "Queen" of the fandom for the years the show ran, I'm not kidding. Everybody knew her. She churned out fanfics like it was her job. She was responsible for a lot of the headcanons that ended up being adopted by the rest of the fandom. And she wrote "Little Hollow," the 55-chapter, 160,000-word fic that had a profound effect on the fandom. Basic premise is: Logan gets cancer, and from there, everything spirals into tragedy and heartbreak. She then wrote a fic based off an alternate ending to "Little Hollow" called "Three" that absolutely destroyed my younger self when I first read it. Like. It was just too much for me.
Back in the day, Logan was the character who was tormented the most by fic writers, and nobody tormented him quite like Miss Fenway. In some of her other fics, he loses an arm in a shark attack, becomes a drug addict, gets kidnapped, is in a car accident that leaves him brain-damaged, is in a hockey accident that leaves him with amnesia, and so on.
Personally, I was partial to "All These Lives" & its sequel "September." To THIS DAY, I cannot hear either of those Chris Daughtry songs without thinking of those fics.
• If you're into AUs, "Mania" was hands-down one of my favorite BTR fics (maybe even one of my favorite fics period). It's like...an edgier version of the boys? They're a gang of sorts, formed out of necessity in order to keep their neighborhood safe from a rival gang. They carry weapons, get into fist-fights daily, and will go to the ends of the Earth to keep Katie safe. Listen. It sounds off the rails, but read it. Trust me. Even now, years later, this fic occasionally pops into my head out of nowhere because I loved it so much.
• Fics that focused on the guys as little kids were very hit or miss (and sometimes could be weird), but I've got to include two of my favorites, "The Petting Zoo" and "Trouble." They both capture the personalities of the boys so well, and I have to imagine this is a lot what they were like as kids. Chaos all the time. Idk, I thought both of these were so funny. Worth a read, in my opinion.
• Alrighty, last fic on this list is a doozy. It's called "Another Reason." This was my absolute favorite BTR fic, and it was one that I read and literally needed several days to digest because it was such an emotional ride. This is a DARK ONE, guys. It's gritty and depressing and hard to read, to the point I only ever read it once because I was never quite ready to return to it. Kendall is kidnapped and tortured for days by someone associated with Hawk (I think??) so it def treads into AU territory because it's nowhere near the lighthearted, goofy feel of the showverse rivalry between Hawk and Rocque Records. Feeling like the police aren't doing all they can to find Kendall, the remaining three boys steal Mrs. Knight's car and take off in search of Kendall.
Like I said, I haven't reread it because it was a tough read, but I remember it being well-written and rambling at length about it to a family member.
And that's where I'll leave it for now! If anyone checks any of these out, I'd love to hear thoughts (my ask box is always open). I also welcome your own fic suggestions, since I really haven't ventured back into the BTR fanfic world yet. Also, thanks to everyone who read the fic I posted the other day!

I'm gonna be CRAZY ambitious here and say I'll try to get the next chapter up by tomorrow (2 year anniversary of the last update) but that's very much a maybe. Thank you for all the love you've given this story, and I'll see you soon in the next update! 😚💕💕

Fav fics I've written - self-love <3
@hartwign asked:
Fic authors self-rec! When you get this, reply with your favourite five fics you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love! <3<3
***
Ok ghost of the past... ffnet
Soooo In my late 20s I discovered a small (but extremely cozy, inspiring and talented) fandom... it felt like a community, almost like family... they were very encouraging... so I ended up dabbling in fanfic writing for about 20 months to help me improve my english while i was planning to immigrate to an english speaking country.
My favs:
The Chance - my very first fic. (spanish: La Oportunidad) Wrote it like a last century latinamerican short novel which was my style back then before I discovered fanfics. So tons of long descriptions, adverbs and head hopping and switching POVs . But i still like it. It's still my most popular work in ffnet. I'm planning to piss off my 28yo self and write an alt. ending. bwahahaha
Breakdown - my last fic. I wanted to try creating a quick 3-chapter agatha christie murder mystery fic and ended up writing a full 60k multichapter with twists, and romance and cliffhangers. Got a few fans mad. but I LOVE IT. Every time I read it... just puts a smile on my face. I want to try and write and read another murder mystery. Maybe in the Miraculous fandom ****looking at you sentitwins detective agency***. I really had fun writing it. I like that style a lot.
An Unexpected Customer - slice of life and natural dialogue. I love writing guy's POVs more than heroines. I still like it. Only fools fall in love like that <3
Just any other night: the final chapter - yay my first mature (smuttish?) fic. Anyway, the challenge for me was that there were about 5-10 words in the english sex vocab that I totally HATED to read/write back then. so i challenged myself to NOT use them at all. It's still a nice read.
Forever yours - Headhopping at my worst but it was intentional. I don't like writing heroines much. I end up adding too much of myself and my own personal experiences in them. But I still love this fic. Its still one of my favs.
**
Dear Future B...
please write again and revisit this list a year from now...
but finish those drawing sketches first... you slacker...
But I still love you!
sincerely,
B of the present.
ps. find a Beta and fix those grammar mistakes....
(laughs at myself... yeah right... *runs the other way*)
@fandomofone @kuromori4 @artemonh @ducky4eva tagging you. You actually have been writing in the last 15 years....
these are Gio and Betty and the Suarez family... if you are curious
youtube
yes... i have a thing for guys in leather jackets. sue me

I started watching Person of Interest in 2021 and watched the final episode last week. (There was an 8 month hiatus in there after Jim Caviezel went mask-off conspiracy theorist asshole when I couldn’t stand looking at him, but I got over it and returned to watching the show.)
I’m grateful for this show. I made fandom friends, wrote some not-terrible fic, read lots of phenomenal fic, and did a series of episode reaction posts (check out ‘#miro does poi’) that were fun to write and are fun to revisit when they occasionally get notes.
Ive seen a lot of negativity in the fandom towards the last two seasons, especially season 5, and I absolutely get it. The thing that I fell in love with about the show was the chemistry and connection between Harold and John and how that connection evolved over time and in relation to the other main characters and the numbers. I loved the “case of the week” format.
In season 4 when the show started to get more wrapped up in the war between Samaritan and the Machine, I lost some interest. When that storyline consumed the entire show in season 5, I will readily acknowledge that the story was well done, and compelling, but it felt like a lot of other Fate of the World At Stake “Prestige Television” without the heart and the character chemistry that made me love the show in the first place.
I’m sure the team behind the show didn’t want to keep making the same show forever, and they clearly had big ideas that they wanted to explore (some of which they picked up again in Westworld). I’m curious if they could have kept more of the character focus if they had had 23 episodes instead of 13 in season 5, so they had more time to put all the pieces in place for the big super AI fight.
I think my main takeaway from finishing Person of Interest is that I want to go back and watch seasons 1 and 2 again. Maybe season 3 as well. And then stop there.
