‘Other than the fact that Lady Éowyn didn’t sleep in her chambers and has run away with a man below her station?’ Cynbel asks, he peers up at Grima. An inspecting expression that Grima thinks to be stolen from him. ‘Who has said such things?’ ‘Cook. Also Hilja who does the charring.’ Cynbel grinds away at the fish paste. ‘My mam says you should take me under your wing and train me up. That you’re more useful if you can make me useful to the king.’ Grima sneers. Cynbel shrugs. ‘Tell me more about this char girl’s rumour-mongering,’ Grima orders.
Cynbel makes a return! The absolute mad-lad who looked at Grima and went "what if he was dad material?"
Grima disagrees, vehemently.

Can you write hcs for the jojos having a s/o thats like shinobu in demon slayer?
This one was fun ngl!! Shinobu has a fun personality to work with. I know Giorno breaks one of my rules but, I’ll make an exception for him.
I’m sorry for leaving Gappy out, I haven’t read part 8 yet 😔
JOJO’S WITH AN S/O WHO’S LIKE SHINOBU
———————————————————————
Tumblr media
JONATHAN
-He is purely your chaos control
-He has to take a bit to get used to your teasing, after a while he can tell when’s it’s comping and laughs it off with you
-He’s surprised to see your angry side at first, he didn’t know you hated vampires this much!
-He understands your hatred and helps you calm down if it’s needed! Be prepared for bear hugs
-A complete gentleman. He think your teasing is fun, I think this is a great pairing ngl
Tumblr media
JOSEPH
-Too much energy + too much energy
-Tease him and get teased right back. This is gonna be a constant thing and you will NOT win
-This isn’t just for the two of you. It’s both of you against Caesar, he gets absolutely no break
-He’s a little bit scared of you when you’re angry. You fight just a little too well for him not to be
-Be prepared to be a force of pure chaos together
Tumblr media
JOTARO
-Too much energy + no energy
-He is mildly annoyed by your teasing, but he’d be a liar if he said that he didn’t like it every now and again
-You seem to understand his emotions best out of anyone. Much to his appreciation
-Angry? He’s not one to calm you down, he doesn’t really seem phased by your angered state
-In reality is also scares him but only you really know that
Tumblr media
JOSUKE
-Too much energy + too much energy: electric boogaloo
-When teasing Josuke you either have a full tease competition or it just so happens to not be a good time and now he’s a lil pissy
-Just don’t tease him about his hair and all will be good!!
-Unlike most of the other JoJo’s, Josuke thinks that your angry side is kinda fun! Especially if he’s using it against Rohan
-Mischief shall insue
Tumblr media
GIORNO
-He is here for your chaos and is doing nothing about it
-Teasing doesn’t really get a reaction out of him, but he loves seeing what reaction it gets out of his friends
-Just like Jotaro he doesn’t really react to your angered state, one of the few not actually scared of it
-In fact, sometimes he really encourages the state and will egg it on depending on the situation
-Create chaos in the gang, do it he is gonna support you
Tumblr media
JOLYNE
-Most chaotic paring here
-You thought Joseph would be a tease back? Jolyne is him tenfold. You two tease each other at every opportunity
-It has gone on for entire days at some points
-Jolyne is only slightly scared of your angered state, and it’s only if it’s someway directed at her. Other then that she is egging you on during it
-You radiate pure chaos together, it’s amazing 20/10
Tumblr media
JOHNNY
-Too much energy + fairly normal energy?
-Johnny isn’t too found of your teasing, weather directed at him or someone else. It just kinda rubs him the wrong way
-He will admit though, it is kinda funny when you tease Gyro. His reactions are just priceless!
-Johnny is especially scared of your angered state, well he was at first. Now he’s just used to it and thinks it’s very helpful in fights
-Is kinda a chaos control but not like Jonathan levels
———————————————————————
I wrote this instead of sleeping lmao. Who needs sleep when you can think about the Jojs

Europe is filled with great Gothic churches, but for me Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral has always been one of the greatest. Not because her soaring bell tower and serrated steeples are so much more beautiful than those of other cities, but because it was St. Stephen's that presided over some of Europe's most consequential battles, when the forces of Islam rode up to Vienna to smash through into Europe and do to her great cathedrals what they did to Constantinople's Hagia Sophia. I had the opportunity not only to explore the church earlier this year (Mozart's funeral was held here, and the bones of St. Valentine are kept in a chest in one of the chapels), but to give a brief speech on a stage in front of the church for the Austrian March for Life.
The Ottomans thought St. Stephen's was a prize, too, and when they laid siege to Vienna in 1529, Sultan Suleiman I (the Magnificent) was riding high. He had been racking up victories across the continent, and decided that the first great conquest that would lead to his domination of Europe would be the magnificent city of Vienna. He boasted that he would be having breakfast in St. Stephen's Cathedral within two weeks of the siege. When the date came and went, Vienna's defenders, a coalition that included German Landsknechts, Spanish Musketeers, and Italian mercenaries, both Catholic and Protestant, sent the sultan a message to let him know that his breakfast was getting cold. Fierce defenders and savage weather eventually drove the Ottomans back, and Christian Europe, for the time being, was safe.
In July of 1683, the Ottomans decided to try again, this time under the ambitious leadership of "Black" Mustafa, the Empire's grand vizier. They arrived to lay siege to the city, demanding surrender. Count Ernst Rudiger von Starhemberg, the commander of Vienna's garrison, scorned the ultimatum: "Let them come; I'll fight to the last drop of blood." As the siege dragged on and hunger and exhaustion began to fell the city's inhabitants, it began to look as if the defenders might have to do just that. Frantic pleas for assistance were sent out to the leaders of Christian Europe, calling for men and arms to repel the invaders. The calls were heeded, and a massive relief force made up of soldiers from Saxony, Baden, Franconia, Bavaria, Swabia, and Poland began to move towards Vienna.
The battle, a chaotic, bloody affair, began on September 11, 1683 — but there is one moment that stands out, immortalized against the backdrop of an epic struggle between civilizations. As Black Mustafa and the Turks tried desperately to force their way into the city before the relief troops could swing the advantage to the defenders, the Polish King Jan Sobieski emerged from the forests on the hills above the Ottoman attackers. At 6 PM, at his command, an awe-inspiring cavalry charge plunged over the crests of the hills and pounded towards the invaders, a magnificent force of 18,000 horsemen. The Polish king, at the head of 3,000 heavy lancers known to history as the Winged Hussars, led the charge. These knights were named for the wings of birds of prey attached to the backs of their armour, which streamed behind them in the wind and made them resemble a cloud of avenging angels.
The Winged Hussars and the thousands of cavalrymen that followed them smashed into the Ottomans, trampling many of them to death. By the time the horsemen hammered down the hill, many of them were simply riding too fast to stop, and they cut through the enemy troops like a battering-ram of horse, man, and steel. The charge proved to be the fatal blow to the Ottoman siege, and the battle to save Vienna was won within three hours. With the battle in hand and Vienna saved from the forces of Islam once again, King Jan Sobieski sat down in his tent to write a letter to his adored wife, something he did nearly every day when he was forced to be away from her.
There is an interesting cultural footnote to all of this. Most people do not know that J.R.R. Tolkien's famous Battle of Pelennor Fields, the struggle for the city of Minas Tirith between the soldiers of Gondor and the forces of the Dark Lord Sauron recounted in The Return of the King, is actually based on the charge of King Jan Sobieski and his Winged Hussars. Tolkien sets the scene with chilling foreboding: "It was dark and dim all day. From the sunless dawn until evening the heavy shadow had deepened, and all hearts were oppressed. Far above a great cloud streamed slowly westward from the Black Land, devouring light, borne upon war; but below the air was still and breathless, as if all the Vale of Anduin waited for the onset of a ruinous storm."
As the battle began in earnest, King Theoden emerges from the forest ahead of his cavalry, the fearsome Rohirrim. As he contemplates the destruction of the city, the king hears a booming sound from Minas Tirith, and suddenly stands erect: "Tall and proud he seemed again; and rising in his stirrups he cried in a loud voice, more clear than any there had ever heard a mortal man achieve before:
Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Fell deeds awake, fire and slaughter! spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!
"With that, he seized a great horn from Guthláf his banner-bearer, and he blew such a blast upon it that it burst asunder. And straightway all the horns in the host were lifted up in music, and the blowing of the horns of Rohan in that hour was like a storm upon the plain and a thunder in the mountains."
Walking through Vienna last month, I stumbled across an iron plaque with Jan Sobieski's visage peering out from it near the Hapsburg palaces bolted to a wall, cloaked in regal finery and sporting an impressive moustache. The plaque had been placed there in September of 1983 — I couldn't read the inscription on it — but someone had very recently placed a ribboned wreath beneath it to commemorate what the Polish king had done for Vienna, and for civilization itself, all those years ago. For some reason, seeing the wreath cheered me up. Perhaps it is because it is encouraging to see that a few people still remember their history, and still take the time to honor those who took the weight of civilization on their shoulders when everything hung in the balance.

𝕆𝕜𝕦𝕪𝕒𝕤𝕦 ℕ𝕚𝕛𝕚𝕞𝕦𝕣𝕒 [21]
Josuke’s most trusted right hand man. Though many within Josuke’s faction really question whether or not the psychologically unstable male should be the right hand man. With the onslaught of crimes and cynical things the man has done, they’re surprised he isn’t one of the torturers or clean up men.
Within a week, however, their minds change at how utterly fast the male reacts to a threat made to the Higashikata. From then, no one really questions why Okuyasu is the right hand instead of Koichi.
Besides being the right-hand, Okuyasu is Josuke’s most trusted bodyguard. All of the Joestar siblings know and recognize this and honestly don’t even try to go against the young male.
One of the most terrifying assassins within the group, and is recognized by Lisa Lisa as a man with potential and power to make his enemies cower.
He honestly feels indifferent about all of Josuke’s siblings and makes decent conversation with most of them.
Out of all the commanders within the younger Joestar line, he’s well acquainted with practically all of them and has no problems when both he and Josuke visit Giorno or Jolyne.
𝕂𝕠𝕚𝕔𝕙𝕚 ℍ𝕚𝕣𝕠𝕤𝕖 [20]
The literal brains and planner of the Higashikata faction.
He is literally the most trusted man who keeps connections between Giorno and Josuke.  Every other week he’s usually sent to Italy to update the Don on the happenings at the main base along with any of the commotions that may have occurred that he should keep an open ear for.
Alongside Yukako, the pair make a rather deadly assassin duo. His skill with quick tactical deductions and quick thinking pairs well with her inhumanely quick reflexes and desire for blood as they’ve taken out quite a number of individuals that were planning on trying to overtake the small town of Morioh.
Besides being one of the main assassins, he’s also one of the main interrogators alongside Rohan. He may not seem like it at first, but Koichi takes immense pleasure in seeing the victim mentally break before him. The information that falls out of the victim always being written at great speeds by Rohan.
ℝ𝕠𝕙𝕒𝕟 𝕂𝕚𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕓𝕖 [25]
A stick in Josuke’s side, but still a crucial person to the Higashikata team.
In all honesty, both he and Josuke are usually at each other’s throats because of the clash of personalities. Though when they work their differences out on rare occasions, they are definitely a force to be reckoned with.
The main source of information and stalker expertise. He had actually traveled to Italy on a couple of occasions and took lessons from both Leone and Bruno in the art of watching and shadowing a target for information.
Besides being the informant, he absolutely loves to interrogate people. His dislike of getting himself dirty though leaves Koichi with the more heavy duty portion of the job, but always provides the younger with the most amount of information and will do any favors asked without a moment’s hesitation.
He personally doesn’t consider himself friendly, or to even have friends; but he does consider the Higashikata gang--- really the Duwang gang-- as his home.
𝕐𝕦𝕜𝕒𝕜𝕠 𝕐𝕒𝕞𝕒𝕘𝕚𝕤𝕙𝕚 [21]
Similar to Rohan, she isn’t necessarily on the best of terms with Josuke. Though it was immensely worse when they had first met. Now, they’re on better speaking terms but still there’s an unsettling tension between the two if there’s no one there as a mediator.
The Duwang gang’s number one assassin. Her shadowing and quick kill skills are rather legendary within the Duwang gang. Whenever she visits the main base she takes lessons with Lisa Lisa, and like Rohan, had visited Italy on more than one occasion to improve her shadowing technique from Bruno and Leone.
Her skills lie mostly in sniping and quick strangulation via fishing line. She once used her own hair and relished in the fact, but found it to be too risky as she didn’t want to leave any evidence behind.
Out of all the members, she works the best alongside Koichi and gets the most done with him.
𝔹𝕣𝕦𝕟𝕠 𝔹𝕦𝕔𝕔𝕚𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕥𝕚 [25]
Giorno’s most trusted man. Literally everyone in Passione and the Joestar family trust this man.
Despite being the main cause of Passione’s previous leader’s downfall. He choose to not take the position of Don. Instead, felt that it would be better if he stood alongside someone with strong ideals and beliefs in their own work and dreams.
He is the most skilled in assassination with high respect from Lisa Lisa. He does like to teach any of the newer recruits any necessary skills, and is always open to having guest commanders from other factions over to learn from one another.
Easily one of the most feared men within Passione.
𝕃𝕖𝕠𝕟𝕖 𝔸𝕓𝕓𝕒𝕔𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕠 [26]
Similar to Rohan with Josuke, Leone is not on the best terms with Giorno. The only difference is that this is a one-sided relationship as Giorno tries hard to appease everyone within his faction in terms of respect.
Second to Bruno, he is the most feared member within Passione. Mainly because of his no nonsense attitude and ability to crack a man’s skull open with only three hits.
He is one of the main assassins that’s sent out to get rid of competing gangs.
Prefers to work alongside Bruno whenever he can, but doesn’t mind working with the other members.
𝔾𝕦𝕚𝕕𝕠 𝕄𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕒 [23]
Besides having tetra-phobia, he is one of the best marksman within Passione, falling second to Johnny Joestar.
Despite being one of the more casual and laid-back member, he is quite the force to be reckoned with out on the field.
He most definitely leaves an impression on the Joestar family when they first meet him and become absolutely surprised at how well he manages to hold up against Johnny in a marksman competition.
Besides Leone, Guido is one of the other assassins that helps to not only deal with threats to Passione, but threats to the Joestar family.
Out of all of the members, he works the best alongside Narancia and Giorno (Though Giorno rarely goes on missions now because of the amount of work he has now.)
ℕ𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕔𝕚𝕒 𝔾𝕙𝕚𝕣𝕘𝕒 [22]
The most chaotic and one of the most unstable members within Giorno’s chain of command.
Despite his age and how he looks, Narancia is a seasoned veteran in the field of torture and death.
Absolutely, positively loves to cause misery and despair to his enemies and will undoubtedly torture them for his own personal pleasure if he has the spare time to do so.
Besides being one of the assassins, he’s also part of clean-up duty with Trish and helps bring back any bodies that can later be used as autopsy and study material for the forensics analyst.
ℙ𝕒𝕟𝕟𝕒𝕔𝕠𝕥𝕥𝕒 𝔽𝕦𝕘𝕠 [23]
The second unstable member within Giorno’s chain of command. Unlike Narancia, his bouts of insanity stem mainly from emotional stress.
He’s the team’s medic, strategist, and interrogator. He most definitely enjoys ripping information out of victims, and has no qualms in using inhumane methods in gathering that information.
He mainly works alongside Giorno and Trish when it comes to anything pertaining the medical field.
Besides working within the medical field, Fugo absolutely loves to work with dangerous poisons and bacteria that’ll leave the victim in absolute pain.
As unlikely as it would seem, he works alongside Cioccolata much more than one would expect.
𝕋𝕣𝕚𝕤𝕙 𝕌𝕟𝕒 [21]
The clean-up crew. Despite her appearance and no nonsense attitude, Trish loves to learn various ways of getting rid of a corpse as well as how the human body decays with time.
Her extensive research in the decaying process and experimentation process with...live test subjects help further the connections that can be drawn to Passione and the Joestar family.
Not only that, but it makes for a very nice item on the market to help smaller ‘businesses’ get rid of any threats they deem worthy of her work.
She enjoys working alongside Fugo and Narancia whenever she gets the chance to.
Definitely teases and makes fun of Guido when she works alongside him, and won’t hesitate to yell at him if he happens to wreck a potential test subject.

[1/5]🐎Hello! I'd like a JJBA [1&4] matchup? I'm a female, Virgo sun, Libra Moon, INFJ-T, and I'm Demisexual/Panromantic. I'm 5'11 and very insecure about my height, among other things. I'm very shy, and awkward. When I'm uncomfortable or around people I'm unfamiliar with I either don't speak at all, or I cannot stop talking, I just go off. Most awkward situations I find myself in, I put myself in through saying something stupid. I'm haunted by those moments.

Matchup
TW // none
Thank you for your request, hun! I like your passions a lot, from literature, to art and nature and horror stuff :0 you really sound like an interesting person ~ enjoy! ^_^
Phantom Blood and Diamond is Unbreakable Matchup
WORD COUNT: 1.3k
My first matchup choice for you is...
Robert E. O. Speedwagon!
Tumblr media
He's a master in making you comfortable. Robert is 25, and already knows enough about life to be helpful for you.
You can tell Speedwagon likes you, but as soon as you tell him about your sexuality, he stops and gets interested in an explanation. He doesn't want to get something wrong, with you.
Robert likes your height, as he's way bigger than you and able to completely wrap his body around yours. Only if you're okay with it. Before holding you this way, he usually asks.
Whenever he meets someone you don't know, he's not the type of man who forces you to talk or to introduce yourself. Robert will keep you close, and if you don't feel like talking, he's fine with you not talking.
Speedwagon agrees on you on how much first impressions matter. After all, it's because of the good impression Jonathan gave him, that he met his best friend, and his idea of the Joestar being a noble soul never changed.
The man loves when you act protective towards him. He spent years protecting himself, that feeling now protected by someone feels incredibly good.
After you get closer and actually become a couple, Robert cherished moments in which he sees you more open and affectionate.
Your first kiss was given by mistake, actually. You were giving him some good affection, and comfortable with kissing him, you leaned towards his cheek. Right in that moment, he turned his head to look at you. And the kiss just... happened. You both stayed because it felt right.
"Uhm... sorry for kissing back, y/n... it was a... reflex. If you want it to mean something, though... I wouldn't be complaining..." then, he giggled.
Speedwagon knows and respects the fact that you don't really enjoy showing off too much your affection in public, so he'll just subtly hold your hand or give you warm smiles.
He might have become a gentleman, after his adventure with Jonathan. But he's the same man who lived in Ogre Street, deep down. He's totally okay with playful pranks, and sometimes he'll even get his revenge on your pranks.
Robert is not an artistic person himself, but he enjoys listening and watching you while you draw, or write. If you give him permission, he will happily read what you've written and sincerely compliment you.
Speedwagon focuses a lot on people he cares about. He's a caring man and will never let you think you aren't loved enough. He won't even give you enough time to feel abandonment issues.
Even if it's an habit of yours, Robert will beg you several times not to bottle up your feelings. He's a great listener, and will always be there, when you'll need him.
He loves horror stuff, crime and conspiracy theories. Speedwagon is the type of man who would make up a whole speech about this. A serious speech.
Even if he's not a great artist nor a great writer, after he's learnt to appreciate more his country's culture, he likes literature and history a lot.
Robert will lock himself up with you in a library and read in your company for hours. He has a soft spot for the light that forms in your eyes, when you read and learn together.
If you happen to read romance together, expect Speedwagon to be a little clingy. He wants a kiss too, why should the book's characters be the only ones who get a kiss?
Don't be ashamed of asking him to spend some time in the nature. He needs a break from the city, and as he's starting setting up his Foundation, he needs peace. With you, possibly.
My second matchup choice for you is...
Kishibe Rohan!
Tumblr media
There really are a lot of chaotic dumbasses, in Morioh Cho.
When from his window, he sees someone so chill around new people, he thinks he's dreaming. He needs to be more about you.
He succeeds in approaching you enough to use Heaven's Door on you. Asking would have been too embarrassing for him, the famous mangaka Kishibe Rohan. What if you understood he's interested in you?
Rohan learns you're demisexual, and this equals the fact that he can't expect you to fall in his arms and live happily ever after. You need to get to know each other and develop a relationship, before falling in love.
Pfft. Easy. He points his finger at your pages, and writes "I already know and care about Kishibe Rohan". His satisfaction doesn't last much. The ink disappears, as Heaven's Door manifests in front of its user and shakes its head.
The stand wouldn't have helped its user to force your feelings, even if it was for a good cause. So Rohan gave up and chose to have a good talk with you.
He caught you in a moment when you couldn't stop talking. But it was kinda different. Rohan enjoyed it, in a certain way. Seeing that you had so much to tell when talking to him, made him feel different, even though he had started to admire you for how chill you seemed.
The first impression Rohan gives out is never good, honestly. The fact that you talked so much to him doesn't mean you had a good feeling about him. He's kinda arrogant. It's a defense type of thing.
But you feel like he wants to spend time with you.
"Just because we always meet everywhere doesn't mean that I, Kishibe Rohan, am following you, y/n."
You didn't even mention him following you. He unwillingly exposed himself. That's when you understood Rohan isn't, in fact, arrogant, rather a softie in denial.
When you two start getting close to each other, he feels you becoming protective over him. Rohan thanks you, but tells you he doesn't need it. When you try to stop being protective, he whines because he wants you to care about him again.
When you're introduced to his house, you feel like you went through heaven's door - ba dum tsss -. You didn't know about his passion before, and you learn he's a mangaka.
When you crash at his place, you enjoy watching him working on his manga, Pink Dark Boy, and as you like drawing, he can't hide he has let you help him several times so you could take a break afterwards and spend some deserved time cuddling.
His house's curtains are always down, you don't have to worry about other people seeing you smooch Rohan. Just because he dislikes PDA as much as you.
If you're okay with it, he'd like to keep your relationship secret for a bit. He's not ready to see Josuke and Okuyasu snickering and chattering over your feelings.
When you two draw together, you happen to steal his pencils and brushes, so Rohan has to run after you for the whole house. If he succeeds in reaching for you, he wins a kiss. And - maybe - his drawing tools.
He noticed how critical you are about your drawing skills. It's not something Rohan thought he would have ever done, but he'll let you sit on his lap, his hand wrapped around yours, holding a pencil and guiding your hand in drawing a sketch.
Rohan is the ceo of Don't-Bottle-Your-Feelings-Up. He has temper, if he thinks something bad about someone, he'll just straight up say it. That's why he talked you a lot of times into not keeping everything inside your chest.
He doesn't watch lots of horror or conspiracy stuff, but if you happen to read or learn something interesting, tell him, he'll be grateful for you giving him inspiration for his manga.
Rohan often brings you in hidden places full of nature - he found those out while looking for inspiration in Morioh Cho - where you can spend some time alone and where he can draw quick sketches of you obliviously smiling.

[Review] The Lord of the Rings: Conquest (PS3)
Tumblr media
A multiplayer oddity.
After the movie tie-in games were done, EA tried to keep the ball rolling with their Lord of the Rings licence. While other companies continued making phone games and created an MMO, EA made RPG, tactics, and strategy games (I’ll be covering The Third Age but not anything from the latter two genres). Their final game before WB took over was this: they got Pandemic Studios—one of their newly acquired subsidiaries—to reskin their successful Star Wars Battlefront formula with a Middle-Earth spin... then almost immediately fired the lot and closed the studio down. Bummer.
Well, at least this game got released. It’s a funny old thing, clearly focused on multiplayer matchups with a couple of solo campaigns tacked on. Playing the single player mode feels just like you’re in a multiplayer map with a bunch o’ bots, but it does a better job feeling like a “battle simulator” from a ground view than any other LotR games I’ve played.
The setup is that you play as a disposable but distinguished member of the armed forces of one of the various factions (elves, Rohan, Isengard, Mordor, etc.). You can be a sword guy, a bow guy, a sneaky guy, or a magic guy, each with quite different playstyles. And yes, I know that Middle-Earth as written doesn’t really have “magic spells” or sorcerers, but all these games ignore that for the sake of having cooler gameplay which I can’t argue with. At certain times you can respawn as a hero unit, with better stats and tweaked abilities, although they still generally fall into one of the four classes.
I found the warrior and scout classes unsatisfying and spent most of my time as an archer. Their quick ranged attacks seemed to be the best option for dishing out fast damage, especially with all the fodder units in the campaign, and their cooldown skills are constantly useful. As such the brief chance to play as Legolas with a souped up spreadshot was a rush. Other heroes were underwhelming; for example, Éowyn makes no sense prowling around with twin daggers and hand grenades. I would have loved to try out Arwen as well—apparently she’s been granted flashy ice magic attacks—but she was only available as paid DLC that seems to have been delisted.
There’s two campaigns, goodies and baddies. The default one is more or less replaying battle scenes from the films, with varied contextual objectives to keep things interesting (it’s not all just going from one capture point to the next). They added a couple of cool scenarios too, such as retaking Moria with Gimli or besieging Minas Morgul. The secondary campaign is a big “what if” scenario starting with Frodo claiming the Ring and getting away with it... for a short while. You play as Sauron’s minions (Nazgûl, orcs, even the big boy himself) taking it back, then reviving the big antagonists from the story, and assaulting the enclaves of the Free Peoples while murdering the heroes. It’s a fun concept! Along the way there’s chances to operate siege weapons or even control Ents, trolls, or the Balrog.
All the while there’s a lot of shouting. It does add to that battle atmosphere to always be having someone in your ear telling you what the next objective is, I suppose. By the way, the only returning voice actor is Hugo Weaving as Elrond and they milk his smooth and severe tones as the narrator between maps as well, it’s lovely.
But for me it comes back to that feeling of being in an online deathmatch. It feels chaotic and messy, more a LotR-themed battle game than a Middle-Earth adventure. Conquest is just being what it is, so I can’t call that much of a criticism... I guess it’s just not what I’m looking for from a licenced game. I did have one play session actually doing local multiplayer, and had a fun time knocking fools into pits and messing around. But despite being well made and having decent production values, this isn’t going high on my list of top Tolkien times.

Rohan/Okuyasu
Damn i wasn’t thinking about this ship before but by God am I thinking about it now
Who was the one to propose?: Definitely a good question, since both would have pretty different ways of proposing- while the traditional thing to do in Japan is to propose subtly, usually privately, Okuyasu is kinda dense, and not too sure that Rohan would actually want to spend the rest of his life with him- not really as a self esteem thing (which he’s working on!! he can do this) but also because depending on what Rohan does for a proposal, he’s either dodgy as fuck or incredibly straight forward.
If Rohan were proposing via the subtle route, he’d be completely steamrolled over by Okuyasu bluntly proposing that they should get married while doing something mundane that they both enjoy, but if he were to just get straight to the point, he’d absolutely propose first- even if that means a bawling fiance.
Who stressed more over wedding planning?: Rohan. Definitely Rohan. Okuyasu’s just glad to be getting married at all, so he’s fairly lax about the entire thing, mostly just worried about who to invite and what kind of food they want. Rohan on the other hand is hyperfocused on aesthetic and tailoring and favors and Yukako and him are not allowed in the same room together during wedding planning because they’re both fiends apart but together they’re an unstoppable force that everyone fears.
Who decorated the house?: Rohan again- Okuyasu’s pretty simple, and is fine with not having too much, though he helps out with decorating one or two little things. Rohan on the other hand prides himself in having a nicely kept house with a certain style and aesthetic.
Who does the cooking?: Okuyasu- after basically having to teach himself how to cook, and cooking for his dad too, the kitchen’s basically become his favorite place, and after hanging out with Tonio and Rohan he’s been trying out new recipes. Rohan’s usually too busy working, but I figure he probably meanders in to taste all the food before it’s finished whenever he has downtime, even though Okuyasu is there to tease him for not waiting.
Who’s more organized?: Both of them are actually fairly organized, but in different ways- whereas Rohan has everything meticulously put in its place, Okuyasu has a sort of mad rhythm going on where you find wrenches or games hidden in amongst other knickknacks. Somehow, he’s still able to find shit, so you could term it a highly organized chaotic spectacle!
Who’s the cuddler?: Okuyasu- after being so starved for affection, he has no qualms about seeking it out with Rohan now that he’s more comfortable. Rohan makes a show of complaining whenever Okuyasu comes and siddles his way into Rohan’s space, but he likes the cuddling too haha
Who’s the big spoon/little spoon?: While Rohan’s a bit shorter, from what I understand (there’s no official height for Rohan ?), they’re both pretty similar in height, so big and little spoons aren’t a regular thing- most of the time they just kinda throw themselves in each other’s limbs and end up curling up like that haha. Sometimes though, Okuyasu will ask to be the little spoon- mostly when he wakes up from a nightmare or needs assurance.
What’s their favorite non-sexual activity?: I kinda headcanon that Okuyasu takes up tinkering with things in his downtime as well as reading manga or playing video games, so you might find him in the same room as Rohan while he works on his manga, taking apart a pocket watch and trying to reason out how to put it all back together!
Who comes home drunk at 3am?: Okuyasu would, though he doesn’t really drink too much by the time the Rohan OVA rolls around. Rohan on the other hand deplores any method of altering his own mind and would stay away from alcohol unless he needed to experience being drunk firsthand for his manga or unless he needed to prove something (likely to Josuke) for a bet
Who kills the spiders?: Rohan- Okuyasu uses The Hand to vault over the artfully decorated couch to avoid it and Rohan’s just sitting there like. Come on. You’re easily twenty times its size. Gives him grief about being a big baby as he smacks at it with a shoe.
Who falls asleep first?: Okuyasu- he’s a fast sleeper, and once he’s out he is down for the count. There’s absolutely no getting him up. At all. None. Nothing short of food could coax him out of bed, and apparently people can’t be woken up by smells, so if you need him you’ll have to wait lol
A headcanon: Upon moving in together, Rohan secretly tried to use Heaven’s Door on Okuyasu’s father to see if he could, in some way, fix him. It doesn’t work, but Rohan reads what was written in him and can only recoil at the stories of how Okuyasu was treated for his entire life. After that, he softens up a bit more with Oku, and is a little more careful about possibly aggravating old memories
Who has the most patience?: Depends on age I think- when Oku is younger, he’s definitely the least patient, but as they get older Okuyasu would become more patient
Their relationship summed up in a gif: not a gif but i thought itd fit jkhbflkf
