I just love that Sugiura is so used to Kaito and Yagami's stupid bullshit that he's unfazed and just making plans to treat himself after seeing those two idiots in another conundrum.

heres my y5 review. spoilers obviously and its long sooooo

i liked y5 a lot like it was fun and silly and the plot twists were really good and interesting. i loved the variety of game mechanics that kept things feeling fresh.

haruka's story in particular was PERFECT i really really enjoyed her arc!!!! i loved how everything progressed so much like i loved it its like the feeling of sliding back a door and seeing another door and another. haven't felt that invested in yakuza since 0.

i wish mirei had more screen time she was so cool + hot + awesome. that and like i wish yoko was treated more normally like the world if rgg studios could write women and trans people normally

i think saejimas story felt tedious at times and didn't communicate the theme of dreams as well as the other stories did. Like i get what they were getting at kind of with the bear but it wasn't really my thing. i did enjoy his friendship with baba a lot though. AND! baba's parallels with rikiya made me scream and cry and throw up when he was talking to haruka wahhhhhhh

kiryu's story was good but as i said before i wish we got a little bit of a refresher because after playing through saejima's, shinada's and haruka's stories i literally forgot who some of the guys were. wasn't the end of the world but yeah.

shinada's story was awesome too. i didn't really manage to understand his character fully but he's such a sweetheart and i love him and he's wonderful. peace and love on planet shinada. AND that scene with sawada where he fake kills him was FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH that shit made me lose my marbles!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i wish it were a little sadder to be honest i know thats a weird thing to wish for but honestly too many dudes did the Oh Im Dead Oh Im Not Dead thing to the point where it detracted from the experience and made me like 😐 Okay well hes not dead to me until i literally see him flatline. and guess what. The guy i was thinking of? Wasn't dead.

it's been interesting to see the stories become more complex as i get later into the series. i can totally see why y0 worked so well now. the multiple characters' stories linking into each others combined with the simplicity and effectiveness of 2 characters makes it easy to see why y0 works so well.
