The Coven Gift Exchange

Agatha (from Lilia) - a pack of batteries, one of those hand crank flashlights, and a generator (a joke gift because of Agatha’s quest for “power”)

Alice (from Billy) - some cozy Animal Crossing style games to chill out with when life gets too hectic and/or when she can’t go out to do the activities she wants for whatever reason (Alice and Billy sometimes play together on such games too, such as having a multiplayer Stardew Valley save, visiting each other’s towns/islands in Animal Crossing, and hanging out together in Disney Dreamlight Valley)

Billy (from Agatha) - Tommy’s green jacket that somehow ended up in her house during the events of the Hex (no one knows why it didn’t disappear with everything else and Agatha claims she only gave it to Billy because she’s trying to clean up her house)

Jen (from Rio) - some rare potions ingredients Jen wanted that she’s randomly mentioned in conversations (Rio, being the Green Witch, was easily able to find such plants, herbs, and other sorts of things that few mortals would be able to acquire)

Lilia (from Jen) - a watch that not only tells the hour and minutes, but the day, month, and year so when Lilia gets stuck in the future she can get her bearings faster by knowing when she is (while it doesn’t help when she gets stuck in the past since she didn’t have the watch then, it still gives Lilia some peace of mind that she can navigate the future a little easier now and is very touched that Jen found such a thoughtful gift)

Rio (from Alice) - a DVD of Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever since the actress who voices Grumpy Cat in the movie looks and sounds an awful lot like Rio and the rest of The Coven teases her about it to no end (Rio pretends to be annoyed, but actually loves being associated with Grumpy Cat as she finds the meme hilarious)

Bloomburrow Tamiyo

Lots of requests for bloomburrow Tamiyo!!! I liked all of these, so I drew three 🌙

Owl seemed a good fit for phyrexian Tamiyo—I imagine the people of bloomburrow would be pretty terrified to see a tiny Great-Night Owl show up, and her metallic lower legs were perfect for bird claws. The rabbit form might just be my favorite, but I also drew her as an axolotl to explore something more amphibious.

I find myself hoping that the next iterations of Transformers shake up Optimus and Megatron’s backstories a bit more

I mean sure, Transformers One shook it up a little, having them both be miners and the creation of the Decepticons being a lot more spontaneous and for somewhat different reasons, but it still follows the general current backstory. They were friends before the war, Megatron created what would become the Decepticons originally to fight for change and equality in a corrupt Cybertron, their ideals start shifting as Megatron wants more forceful means and Optimus more peaceful, they split off and the war starts up from their disagreements on the situation. Megatron tends to take Optimus’ splitting off personally and Optimus still holds some amount of feelings towards Megatron due to their shared history. Also, Megatron is usually a gladiator or miner and while Optimus is more flexible, he’s usually a file clerk/archivist or in Earthspark and One’s case, a laborer

Like I mean, it’s not a bad backstory. But I think it’s been their general backstory for the past 15 years or so. By this point I think we can maybe change things up a little more

A much older drawing i did of this AU, wayyy back when i first started writing it. I wanted to play with lineless art, and it. Was HARD. Im honestly proud of the end piece, especially considering how long the stupid thing took. It’s meant to be a kind of timeline of what the riders look like through out the story itself. Rob, DoB, RTTE, and then the last stretch. Most of these designs aren’t definitive though, i came up with them on the spot (Kari’s first design isn’t the same as what I’ve settled for now, but I’m super proud of the last Ruffnut) but it was, quite literally, the first artwork i did for this story at all, and felt I should share

Plus closeups, because the artwork is kind of big and i NEED people to see all the stupid details that went into this art piece that took me LITERAL years to finish

I’m sure nutritionally whatever is in that paste covers their food needs but goddamn man cannot live by bread alone ok. And I can’t believe none of them seemed to be wowed by seeing the ocean for the first time either. Not even the 69ers who live in terrible little holes 😭

But it is not good for us as we live now irl in poorly designed suburbs and urban areas totally or near totally isolated from other plants and animals and the ecosystems we are part of.

Basically idk how there’s not a HUGE problem with depression and suicide in the houses. Even the non-necro citizens have to be so unhealthy even without the vent mold and possible mutations etc 💀

unpopular opinion: i don’t think the show misunderstood the point of the book at all, Actually. i think it captured the spirit quite well while still being palatable and coherent to an audience that isn’t familiar with the book.

So yesterday and then today, I was trying to again draw Transformers, this time trying my hand at D-16

I still can’t draw Transformers right, I tell you

These were pretty much my two reference photos, for anyone curious. And this is probably also the reason why I don’t have the best design of him, I only have so many refs. But I already have so many photos in my library, and I don’t have the energy to go looking for like, a dozen photos

I think by the end of it, I can draw his helmet relatively well, but I quite honestly don’t know how to draw his body. There’s so many parts to it, it’s too much for my brain to handle as someone who draws super simple. With practice it’ll probably get easier, but right now it’s rough

But the thing, the main thing killing me is the face. It always looks wrong when I draw it on

I think part of it is how high up the features are on the face, since I think normally when I draw characters, the features are generally on or around the lower half of the head, while here the eyes are on the top half. But I can’t really move them down because D’s eyes are supposed to be above his helmet vent things, and already as I draw them they’re too low. Where am I supposed to put the eyes so that they fit where they’re supposed to but also don’t look weird?

There’s also the fact that I can’t just do circle eyes on these guys, because it doesn’t really fit the style. But also it means I don’t know how to draw their eyes otherwise, and trying to do more almond shaped eyes doesn’t look right either

Then there’s also the matter of the nose and eyebrows. I see how it looks in the movie, but I don’t know how to translate that to 2D

Maybe it’d be easier if I kept more pictures of how other people draw the characters, but I only keep those as things to show my friend when we meet on Tuesdays, and then delete afterwards because I’m already pushing over 2000 photos on my library and I need to keep that number down as much as I can (I mean I have plenty of space nowadays but I just don’t like it)

I think my main goal should just be to practice more. Which I think also means using a bigger canvas, but I’ve been ruined by the 500x500 and I can no longer do 1024x768 because I’ll never finish the canvas now, so oh well

Sigh I swear the bar is so low with writing sometimes.

I’ve just been remembering how much it bothers me when there’s no lasting consequences or acknowledgement for things. When everything resets like nothing ever happened at the start of the next episode, or even the next scene sometimes. How cool and rare it was that Wally’s arm was in a cast for a whole 5 episodes of Young Justice. How relieved/excited I was when Mulder actually still had bandages on his fingers the episode after he broke them because FINALLY something carried over! Or when Hook was leaning on someone for support in the background after the fight scene in Pan. How impressed I was to see Katniss still crying hysterically for Rue a few scenes after her death. How surprised I was to actually see a hint of the effect of Echo’s extremely traumatic experience when he panicked in the medbay. How my heart soared when he insisted on rescuing Gregor because omg he’s acting in a way that makes sense for his character! Clinging to every small scrap we get to see of clones showing real emotion when so often they seemingly never bat an eye at their losses and never mention their fallen brothers again.

I love these shows I swear, but it just gets so frustrating! Like I’ll literally be so nervous no one will be affected realistically, or react like a human, or behave in-character and then I get so excited on the rare occasions they do. And then I realize wow the bar is so low, shouldn't that just be, you know, writing 101?

Like I remember some episode of some show (the Seeker? Or something idk) where a character was captured and tortured and not ten minutes after being rescued his friend was like “hmm you sure are quiet today” like YEAH I SURE HOPE HE IS?!

sorry im just thinking about bcs but like. why not add a few smaller scenes of gus interacting with his own men? why does it seem like, in comparison, mike is almost immediately elevated to a higher status than those two in bcs purely because we actually get to see him having normal conversations with gus? like i understand they might not keep the plot moving as well because of the fact obviously if victor is currently doing something it’s because gus told him to etc. but for the most part all of the smaller interactions gus does have with those two ends up being in a somewhat high stress situation where it feels very tense between everyone. and it’s just like damn! is it always like that?? why do those two even care that much about their jobs if their boss is a bit of a dick? etc. i think even an additional scene or two with those guys (either alone or the both of them) talking with gus in a more normal situation could’ve both added a bit more depth into how gus treats his employees (we got a lot with how he treats lyle and co., but not a whole lot with the illegal side of things), how comfortable vic and tyrus feel around him in a calmer setting, and exactly why they both feel the need to be as loyal as they are to the guy.

and also on the other side of this i don't think it'd hurt to maybe elaborate on their pay just a bit..? i'm not saying to randomly put a number out into the atmosphere but i just mean some smaller things like. do they buy nicer things for themselves? what's their housing situation? what's their car situation? are the escalade / yukon their own vehicles or does gus just use those two for business situations? do they use them when they're doing their own stuff off the clock or do they have their own cars? etc. that can also help with understanding their motivations a bit. don't get me wrong i don't think they should be visibly rich or something because that's not what gus would want but just smaller things! cause it's easy to write their loyalty off as Well they probably get paid super well, which i'm sure is true, but if they don't show a single hint of that then what's the point. even something as simple as giving tyrus a nice watch, or maybe victor having a nicer looking gun, etc. something small like that. because as it stands right now the average 41 year old viewer who watched the show once only knows and will only ever know victor and tyrus as those two guys in the background who do random stuff for gus with no clear motivation. just the personification of "On it boss (salute emoji)". and to be honest this is true for a whole lot of fans who do watch the show multiple times and enjoy thinking about it more in depth, because on screen we barely have anything about the two.

and to be clear i'm not trying to say we should have an episode just for them or something like no i understand they're side characters. i understand we don't need all that. and i understand this is also primarily Jimmy's show. but it's not like these two are on the same level as like, arlo or paige and kevin etc. these guys have been around since brba. victor was literally introduced in the same episode gus was. and they are a huge part of gus's story, especially in brba. s4 wouldn't have been what it was without victor and tyrus. and in bcs, ignacio's situation wouldn't have been the same if it weren't for victor and tyrus as well. and i just personally believe that if their goal with gus in bcs was to go back and elaborate on how everything came to be and show what he was like a few years younger, they could've dragged victor and tyrus into that. and i think his character would've benefited from taking that extra step with those two.
