tay i want to know all your observations and theories and thoughts and headcanons or WHATEVER about the eighth sense (i know there’s a movie version and that reaction video out there but i haven’t watched it so please humour me if you already have lololol)
crista my love!!! 🥹💕 omg i'm so glad ur also watching t8s i need everyone to watch it, it's just sO good. i'm also blushing twisting my feet twirling my hair that u want to hear me cry about this show because lmfaooo i'm the least coherent person to do this and so many wonderful things have already been said but i'll just reiterate some thoughts here since i just finished re-watching episodes 1 & 2 for the third time. this is way too long i’m so sorry bare w me pls:
i feel like the beginning sequence (before we are drawn to the present story) tells us everything and absolutely nothing at all. jaewon and jihyun sit on the beach, there’s a sound of a heart beat, their hands are touching, and then there’s a fading superimposition shot of the ocean waves. first of all, i love a good superimposition shot, not just because it’s nice to look at, but because these types of shots play with time and space. we then get that black and white shot of someone surfing, and then a cut to someone being pulled out from under the waves. another superimposition shot from the ocean to that scene back on the beach but jihyun is no longer there and we can hear the sound of sirens. i can see why there were death theories flowing around on twitter lol. from the shot of jihyun to no-jihyun it can allude to something like that but remember what i said about superimposition playing with time and space? the first shot is the future (or present, depending on where you’re looking at the story—perception is everything). the black-and-white shots were deliberate, though. those were in the past. and judging from the later conversation where jihyun trails off about a younger brother, it’s most likely jaewon pulling this younger-brother type person out of the water.
after the credits we get one of my favourite shots so far: a fish tank, taking up nearly half the screen in the foreground, and a blurry vision of the back of jaewon’s head in the background. as we get to know more about jaewon i’m really curious to know what this could be a metaphor for, but the most cliché metaphor for now is “fish out of water.” that seems to fit jihyun more, being a lil’ country kid in seoul, but i feel like for jaewon it’s more about the fact that he wears a mask of a confident person. and he’s damn good at masking. he let’s his friends carry on their double-edged conversation about how oh-so-easy his privileged life is and only gets angry when his friend crosses the line and pushes him over (because although jaewon might be easy-going, he is not a pushover).
jaewon and jihyun’s first exchange outside the pub is so good 😭 there’s banter—i love how sassy jihyun is and how it comes out in front of jaewon—but one thing is established in this scene: their interest in each other. for jihyun, it’s the fact that he was eavesdropping on jaewon and co.’s conversation and congratulated jaewon on completing his military service. jihyun also seemed a bit annoyed initially but he could’ve easily directed jaewon to the nearest convenience store to buy his own cigarettes, but jihyun brings jaewon two (which jaewon seems surprised about) and lights it for him. jaewon’s interest is solidified the moment jihyun slips him a lighter before he leaves. i went absolutely feral at the way their fingers lingered—far too long to be written off as just a small exchange. if a lingering touch isn’t the queerest thing you’ve ever seen, idk what is 😩
my favourite scene so far is their third encounter. i will never shut up about it tbh!!! pissed off by his friends crossing his boundaries and inviting his ex-gf to the pub (where he’d dragged them in because he was lowkey looking for jihyun 👀), jaewon goes outside for a smoke. jihyun follows him out and attempts to be brave: he tells him “my name is jihyun. i thought we should know each other’s names if we’re going to be friends” [cue tay screaming in the background]. the way jihyun looks at jaewon, the sincerity in those doe eyes, and jaewon’s shocked but absent expression is everything. i’ve already screamed about this in the tags but like i’ve said, jaewon is constantly putting on a mask for everyone around him—he’s nice, he’s got everything handed to him; he’s the quintessential golden boy. in all their encounters so far jaewon has been cheery and extroverted, but the fact that he doesn’t have the energy to put on a mask and doesn’t hide his expression from jihyun says a lot. jihyun will slowly become someone who jaewon can be 100% himself around and there is something so *sharp inhale* about that.
jaewon asks jihyun his name again on the bus to their surfing trip, and the little smile that is threatening to curl up on the corner of his lips absolutely killed me. sufa @heart-ming said it perfectly: jaewon knows his name, of course he knows his name. he’s been thinking about him (when he’s outside his family home as he smokes the second cigarette, or going into the bar to see if he’s working). jaewon’s obvious disappointment in seeing their sleeping arrangements is also funny, but that doesn’t stop jaewon. he practically begs the club president to let him teach jihyun, and the two continue whatever the hell it is they have going on on the beach; alone.
(also i could talk forever about the scene where jaewon helps jihyun into his wetsuit like—the way jihyun looks SO nervous and bare in front of jaewon, and the way jaewon puts on a soft and reassuring smile when they’re face to face, but the moment jihyun turns around, jaewon’s mask crumbles and we can see that he’s also nervous from their proximity. the intimacy of helping someone put something on is insane).
i’m fairly certain that kim jihyun is well aware of his sexuality (the boy is a girl group stan i mean c’mon). he might not be out, of course, but he’s been more straight forward about his intentions in pursuing his crush. jaewon on the other hand seems to be doing things not because he’s aware of his attraction to the same sex, but because he’s attracted to jihyun and a bit impulsive about this new-found attraction. there’s this magnetic pull the younger seems to have on the older, and for now, he’s kind of fallen into that trance. but from the synopsis we know that they will be sharing a kiss, and that jaewon will proceed to act as if nothing happened. i’m not ready for that angst next week 😭😭 but i’m actually curious if jaewon really isn’t aware, or he’s just afraid and in the closet??? is the “younger brother” he trailed off about actually his younger brother, or someone who he used to like????? i have so many questions about jaewon’s past that i need answering is it wednesday yet??????????
ok i’m talking too much about jaewon—that’s my blorbo, my baby girl, my cinnamon apple—but i also adore jihyun. he tells jaewon he’s trying to not be scared and he’s been doing some brave things the last two episodes i’m so proud of him :’) his braveness is quiet, like him. there’s something that was said to him by two different people that was pretty similar:
“at first, you’ll be clumsy and scared of everything, but that’s because you aren’t familiar with it.” “then are you afraid of many things? that’s just because you have many things you don’t know”
the first quote was said by his boss when they were drinking, and the second was said by jaewon on the beach. i love these quotes and the fact that we heard them twice because besides being a romance, the eighth sense is very much a coming-of-age and about both of these young queer men coming into themselves. it's just uGH so great.
icb i wrote so much and i didn’t even mention the surfing lesson or shower scene like........ there are just so many layers and nuance to this show and the storytelling, dialogue, and cinematography are all so good. i feel like the director captured the queer experience so well and i can’t wait to see what else is in store for us!! the korean theatrical release was heavily edited and cut down so i can’t wait to see it in it’s full form, how it was intended :’)

Heather & Valencia - Femslash February - Day 16 - At the beach [1,385 words]
“Does all of their PDA look like they’re scene blocking a porno?” Heather watched as Valencia coaxed Josh’s hand from her shoulders to her chest. The sunscreen application had long since passed practicality and now served as a thin pretense at best.
“More often than not, yeah.” Greg grimaced. “You get used to it after a while, like the visual equivalent to white noise.”
“Excessive physical affection in a public setting is usually an indicator of one of several things.” Heather ticked through the numbers with her fingers. “Exhibitionism, insecurity, or re-establishment of territory. Like cats urine marking their borders. Actually, most of the time, it’s a blend of all three.”
Greg snorted. “Don’t let them hear you say that.”
“Oh, don’t worry, I won’t. I like watching and hearing about drama, but I don’t start it.”
“That’s probably your safest bet although, I’ve gotta admit, I’d pay good money to see the reaction on Valencia’s face.” Greg chuckled and shuffled across the sand toward White Josh and Darryl.
Heather’s eyes traveled back to the entangled couple. Valencia caught her gaze and held it long enough that the stare became uncomfortable. Josh’s mouth found Valencia’s neck, but her entire focus locked on the only other woman left in their Beach Day group.
“Okay,” Heather mumbled to herself. “This seems a little aggressive.”
She gave an awkward nod and shifted her attention from the exchange. Heather clambered to her feet. She tied the flannel around her waist once more. Though she did not turn for confirmation of her intuition, Heather thought she could feel Valencia monitoring her departure with a glare so intense it burned.
By the time Heather walked over to Greg, Josh had also rejoined the circle. She observed without comment as a debate ensued. The group decided to forgo surfing in deference to their absent friend Hector, who would be disappointed to learn he had missed that activity -- that is, if he showed up at all. The boards would be left out by their belongings in the off-chance of his arrival. Volleyball became the front-runner of suitable alternatives.
“Won’t the teams be uneven, though?” Heather interjected. “Shouldn’t somebody go ask Valencia if she wants to play a side?”
White Josh laughed. “Good one.”
“Valencia doesn’t come to the beach for the experience,” Greg explained. “She comes to be experienced.” He nodded in the subject’s direction. Valencia remained where they left her under the umbrella with a magazine propped open against her knees. Her striped cover-up lay tucked in her bag, so the bright red bikini underneath was on full display.
Heather barely spared a glance at the supposed proof of their verdict. Instead, she looked to Josh, expecting a defense of his significant other. Josh winced and shrugged. “She doesn’t even like it when I come home sweaty from the dōjō. I don’t think she’d say yes.”
“It’ll be fine,” White Josh assured. “Greg spends most of the time talking crap and critiquing everyone else anyway, so it’s like we’ve got four players and a snarky mascot.”
“I like to think of myself as more of a hands-on commentator,” Greg countered, “reporting from the field.”
White Josh tapped an open hand against Greg’s shoulder. “Volleyball is played on a court, smartass.”
Greg made wordless mocking noises while he followed the guys back to the bus to get the net and equipment.
Heather wandered to where Valencia sat skimming through recent fashion trends. “They’re getting ready to start a match.”
“Good. That’ll keep them busy for a while. If I had to hear the old guy have a breakdown over bean dip one more time, those wiry bristles on his face were going to be the new top layer.” Valencia turned the page with a snap.
“He does go a little extreme,” Heather conceded. “I think he just really wants to have friends, y’know? To be included. Speaking of which --”
“Gangway! Coming through!” Darryl warned as he and White Josh barreled by with supplies slung over their shoulders. Heather had to step away in a hurry to avoid being hit by the poles. Her foot caught on the beach bag at the edge of the towel and sent her backward to the ground. Heather’s head fell against Valencia’s lap, curls tumbling across her thighs.
Valencia sputtered for a moment before a judgmental expression settled into place. “You ought to be a really interesting player out there. Are you always this graceful?”
“My bad.” Heather rose and dusted her skin.
Valencia made a show of examining her magazine for creases. She plucked the sunglasses from her hair and returned them to the bridge of her nose. “No harm done.”
“I’m gonna go help them put things together.”
Valencia didn’t bother to look up from the article in front of her. “Byeee.”
The game began a short while later and, true to White Josh’s word, Greg did not prove an especially dedicated participant. He struck the ball if it was aimed directly for him, but he showed no inclination toward active pursuit. White Josh’s general fitness coupled with Darryl’s enthusiasm made them passable opponents, but Josh’s and Heather’s athletic histories gave them a slight edge.
"This one’s all you, D,” White Josh called.
Darryl rushed forward but hit a groove in the sand. The trajectory took a sharp right turn and the ball went sailing. It audibly bounced off Valencia’s ankle. Even through her tinted eyewear, the resultant scowl could’ve melted glass.
“Shit.” White Josh’s fingers extended and flexed uselessly in the air, as if he could somehow rewind the last minute and erase the mishap.
“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! Are you okay?” Darryl projected his voice across the beach with his hands on his kneecaps.
“It’s fine,” Valencia called out tersely.
Josh loped over to retrieve the volleyball. Valencia held out her reddened leg with a pout and he kissed it.
The set resumed and the ball zipped back and forth across the net half a dozen times without incident.
“Heads up, Serrano,” White Josh cautioned when the volleyball soared high overhead.
Greg sardonically observed its approach. He swatted the danger away with one hand. It caught the edge of his palm and sped back toward Valencia, sending a spray of sand over everything upon impact. Her jaw clenched. She shook the grains free from her leisure materials. Greg’s lips twitched as he held up a falsely contrite hand. “Again, our apologies.”
Heather’s brow furrowed. “C’mon, dude. Don’t be a dick.”
“I’ll get the ball back,” Josh volunteered.
“No, it’s okay. I’ve got it.” Heather left Greg looking chastised but perplexed. She crossed the empty space to where the volleyball fell.
“Sorry,” Heather offered to Valencia even though she was not directly involved in the accident.
“It’s what he does.” Valencia swept residue off her towel. “Greg always plays the funny card when he’s trying to impress the rest of the boys or a pretty girl. He thinks it’s his one advantage over Josh.”
She peered across her sunglasses with a look that seemed to imply she held Heather at least partly responsible for the ongoing disturbances. Heather angled her head, trying to adjust to the bizarre duality of being complimented and openly resented at the same time. Her mouth twisted, but then her features set in determination. “Nobody’s gonna bother you anymore.”
“You can’t exactly control...,” Valencia started, but her words trailed into nothing when Heather started rounding up the surfboards. “What are you doing?”
“Fixing the problem.” Heather jammed a board into the sand between them without further elaboration. A few yards behind her, the guys exchanged baffled shrugs. The second and third board were wedged to flank the first, forming a horizontally short but vertically tall shield that obscured the volleyball net and players from view. Heather brushed her palms against her hips and stood back to admire the end result. “Boom.”
Valencia blinked rapidly but appeared to be at a loss for insults. She pursed her lips and reached for her phone. “I guess that could work.”
It wasn’t a ‘thank you,’ but it also wasn’t negative. Heather felt content to deem that a sort of truce. She patted her hand against the nearest surfboard in two parting taps and gave Valencia a small smile. “Happy reading.”

my 42 favorite quotes from code bc i’m avoiding homework again
“‘I re-jiggered the settings to ignore trash metal. No more false alarms.’ ‘No more anything. It just beeps.’” (12)
“‘This game is popular?’ Ben was sitting on his tackle box in the shade of a large elm. ‘Sounds pretty nerdtastic to me.’ ‘We can’t all practice birdscalls like you.’” (18)
“‘This watch is low-rent. Plus, I’m getting a new one for my birthday. But you owe me, Stolowitski.’ ‘Owe you what?’ Hi said. ‘Who wears a wristwatch anymore? Cavemen?’” (22)
“‘Coop really doesn’t like that box.’ I knelt and rubbed the edgy wolfdog’s snout. ‘It better not be stuffed with dead squirrels or something.’ … ‘It’s not a rodent coffin!’ Hi huffed. ‘This cache is legit. You’ll see.’” (22-23)
“‘Don’t use up too much drive space,’ I warned, watching the screen from over his shoulder. ‘We bought this stuff to research parvovirus, not so you can watch “Boom Goes the Dynamite” twenty times a day.’” (53)
“Frustrated, Hi rose and wandered to the computer. ‘I’m going to check my email.’ ‘I’m going to kill myself,’ Ben muttered. Shelton ignored them.” (56)
“Soooo many dorks,’ Ben muttered, his coal-black eyebrows forming a steep V. ‘A giant nerd army, digging up plastic boxes they hide for each other.’ ‘Like everything you do is cool,’ Hi snorted. ‘Still have that ninja costume you wore to my twelfth birthday party?’” (62)
“‘Wait.’ Ben glanced from face to face. ‘We’re actually going to pursue this nonsense? We suddenly care what this fruitcake hid in a box somewhere?’” (65)
“‘We’ve got over an hour before dark.’ I yanked my hair into a ponytail. ‘Let’s show Mr. Gamemaster how quickly Virals solve puzzles.’ … ‘We’ve got to work on our decision-making process.’ Shelton was shaking his head. ‘Right now, we just follow Tory over every cliff.’” (74)
“Hi called into the black. ‘Your cache is mine, clown! I’m coming to getcha! Uncle Hiram’s got the scent!’ His words echoed in the darkness as he scrambled through the opening. ‘Zip it!’ Shelton hiss-whispered. ‘This building is struggling to hold your buck-sixty. Don’t yodel the roof down on our heads.’” (82-83)
“‘This is stupid.’ Shelton started toward the doorway. ‘Let’s bounce. We can toss that iPad in the freaking harbor.’” (90)
“‘Watch where you’re going,’ Ben snapped. ‘I am,’ Jason said dryly. ‘I’m going to chat with Tory.’” (100)
“‘Hey, check this weirdo out.’ Hi was inspecting a bust on the mantel. ‘This face is ninety percent eyebrow. What do you wanna bet he owned slaves?’ Scowling to match the carving’s expression, Hi spoke in a gravelly voice. ‘In my day, we ate the poor people. We had a giant outdoor grill, and cooked up peasant steaks every Sunday.’” (106-107)
“‘State your business.’ ‘To see my father.’ A beat. ‘That’s usually going to be my business, FYI.’” (112)
“Hudson’s eyes narrowed. ‘Dodgeball?’ ‘District champs.’ Hi pounded his chest. ‘I’m a gunner. The key is to reach the balls first, and then throw with a little touch of spin, so that—’” (113)
“Jason had attended debutante balls. Knew the drill. My crew would have to conduct research on YouTube. Jason was popular on the cotillion scene. My guys weren’t even on the radar. Asking Jason would get Whitney off my back. Inviting only Morris Island boys might plummet her into a depression.” (132)
“I wore a white tank and jeans, shooting for ‘sexy-casual.’ Hoping it wasn’t ‘left farmhouse, got lost.’” (170)
“‘It has to mean something!’ Hi slapped a knee in frustration. Shelton glanced up from his iPhone, but when Hi didn’t elaborate he resumed surfing. … ‘Care to elaborate?’ I was sitting between Hi and Shelton in the stern. ‘Or was that a yoga move I don’t know?’” (233)
“Hi looked at me strangely. ‘We’re a little busy Friday night.’ ‘Busy? Doing what?’ The boys exchanged a look. Hi snorted. ‘I don’t know about you,’ Shelton said, ‘but I’m escorting my friend Victoria to her debutante ball.’” (235)
“‘Your advice, remember? No fear?’ Instantly regretted. I didn’t want Chance thinking about last summer. ‘Oh, I recall.’ Chance smiled thinly. ‘I haven’t crashed on your floor so many times that I’d forget.’” (240)
“‘I found something interesting,’ Marchant continued. ‘Are you free to meet? I’m headed out for a caffeine fix in thirty minutes.’ Um, what? Did this guy not understand I was fourteen? Bolton wasn’t big on students popping out for midday lattes.” (245)
“‘Ben, stop the boat.’ He looked at me funny. ‘We’re in the middle of the ocean, Victoria.’ ‘Stop the damn boat!’ Ben rolled eyes, but eased off the throttle. Sewee decelerated until we just bobbed along with the current. ‘Did you want to jump in?’ Ben asked dryly. ‘Water’s pretty cold in October.’” (251-252)
“‘Okay, people.’ Ben crossed his arms. ‘Care to share?’ ‘No big deal.’ Shelton’s tone was nonchalant. ‘Just a quick stop at Mepkin Abbey to get a new headshot of Mr. Dead Guy.’” (260)
“‘Options?’ Ben asked as he pulled out onto the highway. ‘I think some charitable work might be in order,’ Hi said. ‘I’m not a Jesus man, but I’m pretty sure getting ripped a new one by a monk is bad karma in any religion.’” (264)
“‘Oh man, she really did it this time!’ ‘Should we call the nurse?’ Panicky. ‘An ambulance?’ ‘And say what, exactly?’ hissed a third. ‘That our friend passed out after some bad telepathy?’” (271)
“‘She’s coming around!’ The roundest shape coalesced into Hi. ‘Tor? You okay? If you’ve gone vegetable, blink at me.’” (271)
“My splitting headache had proved the experiment had been dangerous. Had I learned my lesson? Probably not.” (273)
“Hi, naturally, had opted for flair. His tux was crushed purple velvet with tails, accented by all white silk—tie, vest, gloves, and suspenders. He completed the outfit with a freaking top hat and cane. Whitney had nearly fainted on seeing him.” (279)
“‘Those who enlist complete a rigorous program combining academics, physical fitness, and military discipline.’ … ‘So—book learning, push-ups, and war games.’ Hi ticked off fingers as he spoke. ‘Check, check, and check. Plus gray is my sexy color.’” (279)
“‘Paging Miss Brennan.’ Chance waved a hand before my eyes. ‘You okay?’ No. ‘Yes. I’m just…surprised I’ll be first.’ ‘I’m sure you’ll dazzle. Until then.’” (286)
“‘Gamemaster?’ Jason looked confused. ‘Search the basement? What are you talking about?’ ‘Oh, we’re, um, playing a pretty fierce game of Dungeons and Dragons,’ Hi stammered. ‘I’m, like, the head…unicorn master, and Tory has to find my magic…beans. Seeds.’” (299)
“‘Always trapped!’ Shelton actually stamped a foot. ‘Always underground! If we get out of here, I’m moving to a high-rise on a mountain-top. Penthouse! And y’all ain’t invited!’” (304)
“‘I assume there’s no antique cash register in need of special oil?’ Jason said. No one bothered to answer.” (331)
“He launched into an improvised tale of woe and misfortune. We’d found ourselves in the dark. Flustered and disoriented, we’d blundered through an emergency exit. Then we’d tumbled down a staircase in a complicated domino sequence that incorporated each one of us. The story was bizarre, confusing, and wildly improbable. They’d bought it without hesitation.” (333)
“‘Yet you four ripped the grate from its tracks. Then you ripped the tracks from the wall, bending the metal bars like they were drinking straws. How? How is that possible?’ ‘I read once where this guy in Ulan Bator powerlifted a Chinese tank after—’ ‘Can it, Stolowitski. Let Tory explain.’” (335)
“‘You look ready to chew nails.’ Shelton grinned at me from his own stoop. ‘There’s a certain murderer I’d like to chat with.’” (340)
“‘You okay, Tor?’ Shelton had a sandbag on one shoulder, hauled up from the beach. ‘We don’t have time for an ER run.’ ‘We could amputate,’ Hi suggested. ‘Shelton, get the whiskey.’” (342)
“‘I called Marchant’s office and left a message. Less than a minute later, my cell rang and March—’ I gritted my teeth, ‘—the Gamemaster asked me to meet him at City Lights Coffee. So I did.’ ‘So dumb,’ Hi muttered. ‘And it really was a murderer.’” (350)
“‘And you know this how?’ … ‘I dreamed it.’ ‘Aha! You dreamed it.’ Hi yawned and rubbed his eyes. ‘I think it’s time we get you medicated.’” (352)
“I turned on Ben and Hi. ‘What about you two? Ready to bail? There’s a deranged psycho out there who knows what your mothers eat for breakfast. That cool with you?’” (353)
“‘Any plan for that bit?’ Shelton asked dully. ‘You keep glossing over how we’re actually gonna make the citizen’s arrest.’ ‘Of course.’ I chucked his shoulder. ‘We’ll improvise.’ ‘Great. Well thought out.’” (362)
“‘You’re a hot, steaming ball of crazy,’ Hi said. ‘You know that, right? Freaking Looney Tunes.’” (373)

Hong Kong is a treasure trove of sorts given its culinary delights, bustling skyline, dynamic culture, rustic charm, and rich landscape among many others. With that in mind, you would need a lifetime in order to experience just about everything — however, with just this post, I can get you started with the top 10 fun things to do in Hong Kong to help make your stay a memorable one!
Naturally, I won’t be discussing most of the typical must-do’s in the city such as visiting Victoria Peak, Victoria Harbour, Lan Kwai Fong, etc. because you can refer to my Hong Kong itinerary guide for that.
» MUST-READ: DIY Hong Kong Itinerary (with Macau Day Trip)
Instead, I’ll be listing below some exciting city activities that you, your friends or your family can enjoy for the remainder of your stay! .title-bar:after, .title-bar:before, .title-bar:after, .title-bar:before, h2{ border-color: }
Things to Do in Hong Kong
1
Say goodbye to dark, skewed or ‘out of focus’ vacation photos that are taken by strangers! With SweetEscape, you can finally capture your travel experiences perfectly with the help of professional photographers — no matter if you’re traveling alone, with your friends or with your family.
To date, if you book via Traveloka, you can choose between an exclusive 2-hour or 1-hour photo shoot session. Once that’s done, you will receive up to 40 high resolution photos that you can download online!
If you ever need some location ideas, other than the typical spots, do consider the following ‘Instagrammable‘ places in Hong Kong:
Yik Cheong Building or ‘Monster Building’ and Montane Mansion at Quarry Bay
Cho Hung Estate’s rainbow-colored estate buildings
Western District Public Cargo Pier, often called as ‘Instagram Pier’
Street art at Graham Street, Sheung Wang, or Rich View Terrace at Tank Lane
Lok Wah South Estate’s round structures
2 .
Renting traditional dresses is an activity that has been gaining popularity in the recent years. In fact, Japan and South Korea are well-known for their respective kimono rental and hanbok rental shops.
Nowadays, Hong Kong has a similar service through a shop called ‘Yan Shang Kee‘. For a fee of about HKD 400, they rent out qipao or cheongsam — a tight-fitting traditional Chinese dress — for a whole day. This price already includes hairstyling, accessories for rent, as well as the freedom to choose your qipao of choice.
It helps to note that the shop offers qipao in different sizes, lengths, patterns and number of buttons. True enough, this will certainly be one of the fun things to do in Hong Kong that you must NOT miss out on!
3
What better way to explore Hong Kong’s nightlife scene than to go on a pub crawl with experienced local guides, right? The best part is that you’ll get to enjoy this all with like-minded people from all over the world who are also looking to have some fun!
Hong Kong Pub Crawl is the top provider for this; after all, their ‘crawl’ is famous for its off-the-beaten track venues and excellent drink deals. Basically, their signature LKF (Lan Kwai Fong) Crawl in Central runs every Thursday and with it, you’ll get to try free shots at different bars, enjoy free VIP entry to the hippest club in the city, as well as be accompanied by a professional photographer who will document the epic night!
So gather up your friends — it doesn’t even matter if you’re going solo — and enjoy the night away!
4Photo from nomadsteam/Shutterstock Not a lot of people know that there’s so much more to the city’s urbanised center because 2/3 of Hong Kong is actually made up of the countryside, countless small mountains and several islands. As such, hiking is a must that you should do on your list of things to do in Hong Kong!
Lion Peak Hill is one of the most popular hikes and this website even sums up all of the trails in the country (labeled accordingly with difficulty, time, etc.). But if you want something that’s out of the bustling area, head on over to the famed Dragon’s Back.
With this hiking tour, you can go through the trail with a professional guide. You will get to witness mountain ridges and forest trails as it leads up to the white sands of Tai Long Wan (Big Wave Bay) — where you can also try surfing!
5Photo from SAHACHATZ/Shutterstock The vibrant city is a paradise for foodies, that’s why dining out is a must on your things to do in Hong Kong — better yet, you must go on a guided street food tour!
With the help of a local, you can try out authentic dishes and fare as you wind through culinary places, bustling markets, and dai pai dong (food stalls) in Causeway Bay and Wan Chai among many others.
Some of the many things you’ll get to try are Hong Kong’s well-loved puffy egg waffles, milk tea, clay pot rice, and youtiao (deep-fried breadsticks) — food choices that will surely leave you wanting for more!
6
Tai chi or taiji is a Chinese martial art that’s not only practiced for its defense training but also for its health and meditation benefits. More recently though, it is mostly practiced as an elegant and peaceful form of exercise that can be enjoyed by just about anyone.
So, why not give it a try? After all, it will surely be one of the most fun and unique things to do in Hong Kong that will make for a memorable experience for you!
For this, I highly recommend signing up with Taichi Place. All of their instructors are certified local masters with more than 10 years of teaching experience and they have developed an easy way to help non-Chinese people discover the essence and history of tai chi. In just an hour, you will learn beginner hand forms, proper stances, and Qigong breathing exercises that will leave you feeling better in both body, mind and spirit.
(NOTE: Classes will be done outdoors and the masters can all speak English).
7

As the largest theme park in the city, Hong Kong Disneyland is definitely one of the top fun things to do in Hong Kong! To date, it features seven (7) themed areas namely Main Street, USA; Fantasyland; Adventureland; Tomorrowland; Grizzly Gulch; Mystic Point; and Toy Story Land.
Of course this isn’t just a place for children because it caters to people of all ages with the number of attractions, rides, shows and parades that the park offers. Just always stay on your toes though when you’re up and about because a lot of Disney characters are open for meet-ups and pictorials!

If you rather want crazier rides, Hong Kong’s OceanPark is your next best bet! It helps to note though that this is an amusement park, animal theme park, marine park and oceanarium all rolled into one — so there is LOTS to do in this place.
Some of the usual favorites are the the Polar Adventure, Old Hong Kong, Thrill Mountain, Rainforest, and Aqua City among many others. If you’re one for views, don’t forget to cross OceanPark via a cable car to get an amazing bird’s eye view of it all.

Step it up a notch and do a helicopter tour in Hong Kong! It’s quite luxurious, I know, but if you’ve got the budget for it or if you want to celebrate a special occasion, then this is a must on your itinerary.
The Peninsula Hotel currently offers varying packages for helicopter tours in Hong Kong such as the following:
18-minute Group Tour: You will share a 6-seater helicopter with other booked passengers and it will fly over the Victoria Harbour skyline and the beaches or bays at South Hong Kong Island.
18-minute Private Tour: For something more personal, this can be a private flight for two (to a maximum of six persons) and it will already include lunch or dinner. The route will be the same as the former.
30-minute Private Tour: Want to do it longer? This option goes to Kowloon City, Sai Kung, and the Hong Kong Geopark on top of the former stops.
45-minute Private Tour: If you also want to head over to the New Territories, Big Buddha and Lantau Island, then this should be your choice of tour.

All in all, I hope that this will help make your trip an experience of a lifetime.

Let Me Hold You
Ok so this is a somewhat long fic...its 7,000 words in Word right now but i'm going to add more to it.  Honestly it might just be a bunch of scenes with Juice and Harley (OC introduced in this chapter) and the boys.  It’s loaded with Juice fluff because I can’t get myself to add drama cause I just want to snuggle him.  This will turn into a Juice x OC fic within the next chapter so this is mostly backgroundish info on Harley :)  let me know if you guys like it :) I promise it gets fluffy real quick :)  gif isn’t mine
This is probably a couple weeks before the first episode but I’m not going to be following close with the series but I will mention things that happen in an episode occationally
Tumblr media
Harley’s jeep was parked in her new parking spot outside of the small apartment complex in a town called Charming.  She had to admit, she rolled her eyes at the name but was excited at getting away from her family and starting out on her own.  She also wasn’t going to complain about the half hour drive to a beach.  Once she made some money, she promised herself a surfing lesson.  She jumped out and opened the door for Potato, a chocolate lab-Pitbull mix she adopted two years ago.  A name she did not choose but fit him in a weird way.  After she got him settled in the apartment, she set out to find a job.  Her black long sleeve shirt dipped into a low V and she tied up her bright red hair half up to take some of the heat off her neck.   She walked around the town, seeing a grey building with a row of cars parked on the side.  As she looked further back, she saw a red sign with Teller-Morrow written across it.  There were a couple guys working on cars out front and as she walked closer, she saw the grey building she was closest to was actually a bar.  Motorcycles were lined up in between the mechanic shop and the bar.  There was a small boxing ring along with a punching bag near the entrance that had her scrunching her eyebrows.  Sons of Anarchy was on the sign on top of the awning and she tucked her hands into the back pockets of her flare jeans as she walked inside.  The blast of cold air was welcomed and she smiled at the one guy with curly light brown hair behind the bar. “Hi?”  Harley smiled and waved, her white painted finger nails bright against the dark room. “Who the hell are you?”  He asked.  He had on a leather vest with a patch that said Prospect. “I’m Harley.  I’m new in town and was hoping to put in an application for a bartending job.  I have previous experience.  Do you have a manager or someone I could speak to?”  Harley tucked her hands back into her back pockets as she walked closer to the bar. “I don’t think—” “Half-Sack, who you got here?”  Harley turned around to see at least ten men walk out of a room that looked to have a long table inside.  She looked to see the same grim reaper she saw on the brick outside right next to the door they came out of. “She’s looking to put in a resume.” The one behind the bar replied.  The same man’s eyebrows scrunched together.  His hair was black and curly and his bright blue eyes were looking up and down her body.  She was only 5’1” and she wasn’t skinny, her curves were soft and she was what she liked to call sturdy. “For what, Sweetheart?”  His voice was eerily calm, bordering on the line of creepy and calming.   “Bartending.  I’m new in town and need a job to pay rent.”  Harley said.  She glanced to the door and watched as a man shorter than the rest walked out and towards them.  He had a short mohawk with a tattoo on each side.  Harley looked away quickly when his eyes met hers. “Hey Clay, this girl’s looking to put in a bartending application.”  The man called out, an older man’s head flew up and looked her over.  “I’m Tig.” “Harley.”  She held out her hand, hoping to come off as confident. “Like the bike?”  Tig’s smile grew while Harley laughed. “Like the comic book character.  The character was first introduced when I was born.” “Jesus Christ, how old are you?”  Tig glanced over her yet again.   “23.  Two years of experience.”  Her chin tilted up and she straightened out her hip. “Experience of what?”  Harley turned to the new voice, surprised at the height of the man behind her.   “Jesus, do you all have blue eyes?”  Harley whispered.  Blondie behind her smirked. “She was looking to apply for a bartending job.”  Tig answered for her.  Blondie’s eyebrows scrunched together just like Tig’s did, “new to town.” “Look, if you aren’t looking for a bartender, just tell me and I’ll leave.”  Harley crossed her arms in front of her, causing Blondie’s eyes to go directly to the V in her shirt and she quickly uncrossed her arms. “Hang on spitfire.  Follow me.”  Blondie nodded his head towards the back corner behind the bar.  She followed him into what looked like the storage for all the extra alcohol, mostly beer and Jack Daniels.  “I’m Jax.”  He held out his hand and Harley quickly wiped her hand on her pants and shook his hand. “Harley.” “Like the bike?” “No.  Well I guess.  The comic book character.”  Harley sighed. “Alright.  So how long have you been bartending?”  He leaned against a shelving unit as Harley took him in.  She noticed his patch said V. President instead of Prospect along with Redwood Original and Men of Mayhem. “Two years.  I started in college and just kept with that job at a different bar in my hometown.” “Which is?”  His head tilted, causing his blond hair to tilt with him. “I’m from Tennessee.  I just moved out here with my dog a few days ago.”  Harley tucked her hands back into her pockets. “Why’d you leave?” “I just wanted a change of scenery I guess.” Jax watched her for a little and looked her up and down, “you apply anywhere else yet?” “No, this was my first stop.” “If we pay you $18 an hour under the table, can you be on call?” Jax watched her reaction. “You want me to be on call,” she paused, “as a bartender?” “We have some unplanned parties.”  Jax said. “So, what you’re saying is, you don’t want me to get another job, but I’ll be paid a ridiculous amount here?”  Jax nodded his head. “You could also answer phones at the mechanic shop if you really want to.  Gemma won’t mind the extra help.” “How long are the hours?  I can’t just leave my dog for hours and hours on end because you guys had an unplanned party.”  Harley’s own brown eyebrows scrunched. “Bring him here.  If it gets to be too much he can stay in one of our rooms.”  Jax shrugged.  “There’s not really many outsiders that come in here unless it’s a party.”  He added.  Harley’s green eyes stayed narrowed. “Is this illegal?  I’m not gonna have to have sex with all of you right?”  Harley questioned quickly before she lost her nerve. “I can make sure they all back off, darlin’.”  Jax smiled.  Harley watched him as he glanced down to her chest again. “That includes you too, Blondie.”  Harley mumbled.  Jax chuckled and nodded his head in agreement.  “When do I start?” “You available now?”  Jax’s eyebrow raised.  She nodded and he swept his hand out to motion for her to go out front.  As they both emerged from the door, the conversation stopped outside.  “Guys, this is Harley.  She’s our new on call bartender.”  The overweight man with long hair looked her over.  “Only bartender.  No funny shit Bobby.” “Come on, Jax.”  The overweight man, Bobby, complained. “Bobby.  Don’t make me hit you.”  Tig said, he made his way over and threw an arm around Harley’s shoulders.  “Come on, Sweetheart, get me a beer.”  Harley raised her eyebrow at him, “please.”  He added with a smile.  She smiled and went around the bar, looking over everything.  She pulled out a miller and grabbed the bottle opener, popped the top off, and placed it in front of him.  The guys all yelled and Tig leaned over the bar to kiss the top of her head.  “Great job.  Now get me a shot, can’t get drunk with just beer anymore.”  The guys went back to their game and the others all came up for a beer.  She quickly popped off the cap to everyone and handed them each one.  The door opened and a woman stepped in, older, with brown hair and blonde highlights. “We hired help.”  Tig yelled as soon as the door shut. “What?”  The woman kissed Clay and then looked over at her. “Hi, I’m Harley.”  Harley held out her hand after wiping it on her pants to get the beer splatter off.  The woman looked at the hand for a while and finally lifted her hand to grip hers. “Gemma.” “Nice to meet you.  Would you like a drink, Ma’am?” “No.  Is that voluntarily red?” Gemma nodded towards Harley’s hair. “Yes, Ma’am.”  Harley nodded and looked her in the eye.  Gemma pursed her lips and hummed, then walked off towards Jax. “She’ll warm up to you.”  Tig smiled.  “So that’s Bobby,” the overweight man, “Chibs,” A grey haired man with a scar on each cheek, “Juice,” the man with the tattoos on his head, “Half-sack,” the light, curly haired man, “Piney,” older man with a breathing tube, “and Clay, he’s the president.”  Tig pointed to the older man with the big jaw.  “Gemma is Clay’s old lady.” “Old Lady?”  Harley raised an eyebrow as she poured another shot for Tig. “Kind of like wife.  You’ll learn.”  Tig smiled.  “So, why Charming?” “Change of scenery.”  Harley smiled. “Your parents aren’t upset you left?”  Tig took a drink and Harley bit her lip. “My sister is.”  Harley answered.  She took an ignored rag and wiped down the bar, getting into habit. “Parents?”  Jax sat down next to Tig, looking at Harley.  Harley saw Juice lean against the bar, watching her face. “You need a drink?”  Harley ignored both of them and grabbed another beer for Juice and placed it in front of him, watching the guys play pool.  Jax and Tig shared a look but let the subject drop. “Mom, Harley’s gonna help you around the shop too.”  Jax took a sip while watching Gemma, who narrowed her eyes but nodded. “Sounds good, sweetie.”
