Hello, friends! Hope your May is off to a good start! 

I’m here with some fic recs for you. All of these were published or completed (in the case of multi-chapter fics) last month. Because it covers the whole month, the list is a little on the longer side. I think I’m going to try to start doing this twice a month going forward, which will help with that, but for now, it just means more recs for you at once. :)

So, without further ado, here are some fics I really enjoyed this month...

Hurts 2B Human by wildxwired (rated T) David has never enjoyed his birthdays, mostly because he’s never had anyone to celebrate with. Sure, there were people, but they were just bodies, just faces beaming up at him with fake sincerity as he bought yet another round of drinks. His birthdays always reminded him how alone he was...  OR what I think would happen if David didn’t go to dinner with Patrick on his birthday.

lightheaded by my_middle_name_is_awkward (rated G) He couldn’t stop thinking about how David’s eyes watched him carefully as he thanked him for making the first move. They were intense and warm as they tracked Patrick’s expression and it made him melt in his seat.

The Long and Winding Road (To Your Door) by ambitiousbutrubbish (rated G) Patrick is pretty sure he’s the only one who finds the holiday cards the Roses send out to their employees to be oddly charming.

Memorial Weekend by another_Hero (rated T) David shook his head again, brought his hands up to his face. “I know, I know, okay, but you,” he said, “are easy to love. And I—” Patrick opened his mouth, but David fluttered a hand in front of him for silence.

never understood before by mriaow (rated T) “Look,” David starts, trying to gather his thoughts because Patrick’s got his listening face on, earnest and open, soft eyelashes wide, and he knows he’ll let him talk until he’s done. “I know I probably would have gone off the handle about it before, and yeah, of course I was hurt, a little bit.” The words stick in his throat a bit before they come out and Patrick audibly sucks a breath in, reaching over to squeeze David’s hand but staying silent.

Nobody wanted David (Until Somebody Did) by Stargatewars (rated T) In introspective from David's POV about his past, present and future.

Second Best by houdini74 (rated G) Patrick tells his parents that he and David are engaged.

the spot... by startswithhope (rated T) A reflection of a few times Patrick hiked alone and the one time he didn't.

what tiger woods was to golf by oh_la_fraise (rated G) As the game goes on, Patrick grows more on edge waiting for the "if you hurt my son, I’ll ruin you" moment. He has a vision of Mr. Rose separating them to look for an errant ball and threatening to slowly strangle Patrick to death with the hotel’s weird smelling carpet. Judging by the increasingly desperate looks Ted keeps throwing, he feels the same.

what’s new, pussy cat? by promptly (not rated) "YOU'RE ALLERGIC TO CATS!" David all but yells, startling Patrick.  "What? No I'm not!" Patrick laughs, and absent mindly runs a hand down his chest. "Where did you hear that?"

Actually Talking About It by Still_Not_King (rated G) Patrick and David realize they've both thought individually about this whole marriage thing (and have assumed the other is TOTALLY uninterested.)

She was stoic and cool. She drank vodka straight and told boys she didn’t give a fuck about them. She didn’t think about girls and their soft lips right in front of their face. A story about Stevie's past and a very long road to understanding herself and acceptance.

I Think I’m Gonna Marry You by allonsyarielle (rated G) [There’s no summary given for this fic, but it’s about the planning Patrick does leading up to the proposal, as well as the proposal itself.]

It doesn’t feel fair that Patrick gets to laugh at him when if Ray was doing this little interview, David would be just fine.“Threw you a bit of a change-up there, huh?” Patrick replies, quick, grinning so hard he’s practically glowing, and all David can think is yes, yes you fucking did. Or, everything is the same but David is an empath who can feel other people's emotions through touch.
