Tim Through the Years - The Talk
Series Masterlist
Summary: You and Tim have a serious talk.
Warnings: discussion of poor family life and past abuse, fluff and comfort. 0.7k+ words.
Things were getting serious between you and Tim. You talked daily, grabbed dinner or lunch together, and spent every weekend together (if Tim's schedule allowed). You knew it was time to talk to Tim and tell him everything, about all the things in your past because you could see spending the rest of your life with him. You decided to wait and bring it up before movie night so you could know what to say, and Tim didn't worry.
Tumblr media
“Hey, can we talk?” you asked Tim as he sat down with a big bowl of popcorn.
“Of course, is everything okay?” Tim said and quickly grabbed your hand to rub circles on it.
“I just want to talk about my life before California. My life in Kansas,” you said softly.
Tim looked at you and smiled softly. “I’d love to get to know you more”.
“I just want to be honest, I won’t be upset if you decide to end our relationship. I’ve prepared myself for this,” you told him with a sad smile.
“I’d never leave you because of your past, you know my past and still love me all the same. So please tell me everything,” Tim said and gently squeezed your hand.
“My mother died in childbirth, so my brother Dean and my Uncle Bobby took care of me and Sam. Uncle Bobby watched us while my dad was who knows where until Dean was older and then he took care of us. Our father would be gone for weeks at a time and didn’t leave us much money for food. So, Dean would mow yards or do chores around the neighborhood to earn money for us so we could eat or get clothes. Bobby gave Dean the car they’d been working on for years as a present for his 16th birthday and a job in his garage. Dean did a lot for us, he basically was the dad I wanted our father to be. He was there for us through everything, he showed up to everything we did. Now our father, when he was home… he was either drunk, angry, or both. Dean took most, if not all, of the abuse our father dished out onto us. Our father would yell a lot and throw dishes at the wall all the time. He once showed up to our high school because Sam got in a fight with someone and he did nothing. Sam was a small guy back then, and an easy target, so our father decided to fight Sam to teach him to defend himself. Sam had to get three stitches… He also locked me into a closet for two days because I got suspended for three days for getting into a fight. I was defending Sam but it wasn't 'lady-like' in my fathers eyes. He would even tell me and Sam it was our fault our mom wasn’t there. Then, when Dean graduated, he moved out of the house and lived with Uncle Bobby. Things got really bad; so bad that he showed up one day with the police and paperwork saying we were under his guardianship. He didn’t even recognize us, we were to-the-bone skinny, bruises everywhere, cuts all over our faces, and Dean pressed charges against our father. So we all moved into an apartment together. It was really hard to walk around freely; Sam and I would flinch at any sudden loud noise. Dean had to work with us really, really hard to get us not to be scared and back to a healthy weight. When Sam and I moved to California to get away from Kansas and to start better lives, Dean followed to protect us and so we could all be together. My brothers mean everything to me, we are all so close that it’s hard to even think about one of us leaving,” you finished with a shaky breath and felt Tim softly rub a stray tear from your face.
“You are the most beautiful, amazing, and strong woman I know, and I love you so much,” Tim said passionately as he pulled you into a big, warm embrace.
Tumblr media
Bonus
“You said Sam was small. I’ve seen pictures of your brother. He’s huge!” Tim exclaimed.
“His nickname is Moose, because of how big he is. But as a high school freshman, he was so short!” you told him while watching the movie.

Please tell me about the guy in your college dorm who got scurvy, I love a good modern day scurvy story. Like bro, have a delightful lemon-parm chicken
So in uni I lived in a co-ed dorm building where we had single-person rooms and shared a common room, washrooms/showers, laundry, and a kitchen. We also had a dining hall that we could purchase meal plans from (which i also had all 4 years, because i juggled full time school and 2 jobs at the same time. I did NOT have the time to cook for myself and I would not have done so in that kitchen to be frank). The building was split up into a bunch of different houses which we took personality quizzes to get assigned to in order to limit the amount of conflicts that would happen in this living situation. I was put in the smallest house (there were only 20 of us) and it was full of real chill like-minded people who liked to watch movies with me. This guy was the next door away from me, but wasn't my immediate next door neighbour because the stairwell broke up our house down the middle.
He was the house shut-in. He didn't really join any of the hang outs in the common room, or go out clubbing with us, he just kinda shut himself in his dorm room and never came out. Eventually we stopped slipping invitations to things under his door like we did with everyone else because there was no point. But I saw him in the dining hall and I saw him swiping a meal card a few times so I knew he was on the meal plan, meaning i KNEW he had access to fruit and veggies and even just like, juice. The food wasn't good but you had all the opportunities in the world to make it good FOR you, if that makes sense.
One of my jobs at this point was as an overnight security guard for an apartment building. I would come back around 4am and then crash out until 11 or 12 and then go to my afternoon and night classes. This is relevant because I was coming back into the building after a shift once in full uniform while he was sitting on the front steps and looking like he was hungover to the point of near-unconsciousness. I ask if he's feeling okay, if he needs anything, he waves me off and says he just needs some air. I'm like okay well, you know which doors mine if you change your mind bud.
He was an enigma who never spoke to us so I waved the situation off as too much college partying or something.
Over the next few days this becomes a common sight among everyone, who says they would also come back from their part time jobs or outings to him nearly passed out on a courtyard bench or something, a few people said they heard someone throwing up in our floor's shared bathroom.
About a week later I come back from my shift as usual and crash in bed until noon, expecting to wake up and go to my classes as usual. I grab my school bag and throw my regular coat and boots on and walk to class. I liked to sit in the back of that lecture hall because that prof had a rule that you were allowed to eat in his class as long as you sat in the last 3 rows, so I'd bring my breakfast and coffee in one of the dining hall to go boxes. I did not end up eating my breakfast or drinking my coffee.
In fact I did not make any notes on my laptop.
In fact, the house discord server blew up while I was asleep.
This guy, this fucking guy, had gone to our don (RA, basically) and told her he needed to go to the ER and then passed out on her couch. She doesn't have a car because none of us did, so everyone who was there and awake ended up dragging him to the closest hospital that was a few blocks away from campus on foot. Why they did not call an ambulance or at least an Uber is beyond me, but panic does weird things to people.
Reading through this in the corner of my eye before class starts, I have forgotten about class entirely. I have forgotten about my breakfast and my coffee. A few people were asking if they should ask for the don's master key and wake me up, thinking that i might have training in these things from what my job was (i did), and then others shut them down saying "no, let him sleep. He gets home at 4:30 in the morning" (WHY DIDNT YOU WAKE ME UP I WOULDNT HAVE CARED IF YOU SAID SOMEONE WAS HAVING A MEDICAL EMERGENCY. I COULDVE AT LEAST KEPT YOU ALL CALM AND DELEGATED TASKS)
I send a message in just saying "guys I'm up now what is going on" with an @everyone attached.
Instantly get "several people are typing." That's never a good sign.
So this guy was in the ER for hours getting IV-fed. Because he had scurvy. And they had to vitamin C infuse him. Because he hadn't eaten a single fruit or vegetable or anything derived from a plant the entire school year. He got SCURVY. IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2019.
Bro eat a fruit. EVER?? But he just didn't. He just never did. He had fucking scurvy. He passed out and had bleeding gums and his teeth almost fell out. Because he had scurvy.
He did not come back the next school year because his parents pulled him out of the dorms on the basis that he couldn't be trusted to take care of himself after that incident. And I do not blame them at all. Ma'am your kid can't be trusted to eat one (1) orange all year.

WARNING: This is my opinion of the movie Encanto and some of the larger issues of the film that I've noticed.
Now I know Encanto came out a few years ago BUT there is SO MUCH that bugs me about it that I can't stop thinking about the bigger flaws of the film-
First of all, the movie starts off with the typical fantasy magical intro- not a bad idea- it sticks very close to what is called "The Disney Formula".
The movie seems to have some potential at the start but as I noticed through my multiple watches of the film- the story just falls apart at the seams.
Our main protagonist is Mirabel and not long into the movie while she is singing about her family and their magical gifts, once she is questioned by a child about her gift, she doesn't answer the question. Did no one notice how SHE avoids the question and continues singing about the rest of her family?
This scene showed us that mirabel clearly DID NOT want to talk about her lack of a gift to the point that she refused to really mention herself in the song. This showed how she didn't feel like she belonged in the family and how she seemed to stick out like a sore thumb throughout the whole film.
Then there was the scene where mirabel was trying to help set up for Antonio's gift celebration and her Abuela just looks at her with this cold look and tells her to stand off to the side and do NOTHING.
That is one of the first glimpses that we see mirabel's abuela INTENTIONALLY shove her off to the side.
And don't even get me STARTED on the scene where mirabel was so excited to receive her gift and she didn't get it. People really overlook how abuela's face changes to utterly disappointment when looking at her. Like it's HER FAULT.
As the movie progresses, we see how abuela keeps the rest of the family on some sort of leash like Luisa, Isabela, and Peppa. Peppa wasn't allowed to express her negative feelings because of her gift making it almost impossible to without causing a weather situation. We see this at the dinner scene where she tells Peppa to control herself. This shows how Peppa isn't able to express her emotions as much as she wants to and is forced to shove them down.
Luisa is molded into an image of where she is the strongest of the family and Isabela is heavily influenced to be perfect which obviously inst the case. Throughout the whole surface pressure Luisa is clearly overwhelmed by her responsibilities, her gift, and by the fear of letting others down. Especially her family. She tries to shove it down and act as if it isn't effecting her as much as it is but she eventually cracks and tells mirabel how worried and overwhelmed she is. We can tell that part of that pressure is influenced by abuela as she has a huge influence on the entire family. Not to mention Isabela was pressured not only to be the picture perfect girl with no flaws and insecurities but also arranges a marriage for her with a man she doesn't know. She's basically selling her off and judging from how she behaves she clearly doesn't want to go through with the arranged marriage but she also doesn't want to go against her abuela and family so once again she tries to cover up her feelings. This explains of why she acts so uptight throughout the first half of the film until she lashes out at mirabel in her room.
Once again, abuela molded Isabela into something she didn't want to be as she says she doesn't want to be perfect and wants live her own life without having to worry about disappointing the family just like Luisa.
Its also PAINFULLY obvious that abuela was the reason Bruno went into hiding in the first place because she shamed him for his gift and was responsible for the rest of the family refusing to even mention his name.
She shamed him for something that he couldn't change and acted like it was HIS FAULT.
The worst part is that once mirabel ACTUALLY gets Isabela to feel comfortable for ONCE in her life in YEARS, abuela yells at mirabel and tells her that SHE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CRACKS. Mirabel for probably the first time in her life stands up to abuela and tells her off for everything she's done and that it is HER FAULT INSTEAD. and I quote from the movie "I LOVE this family! We all LOVE this family! You're the one that doesn't care!". As mirabel stated in the argument scene. And the fact after ALL OF THAT HAPPENED- MIRABEL STILLS FORGIVES HER DEAPITE EVERYTHING SHE PUT HER THROUGH.
I don't understand why it is now a trend that if the person says they're sorry, they are forgiven for all of the abuse, neglect, and manipulation they've done and it's just SWEPT UNDER THE RUG LIKE IT NEVER. EVEN. HAPPENED. That's the case with Encanto. It justifies the abuse that abuela showed towards mirabel and the entire family.
Now before you say "But abuela lost her husband and had to raise her 3 kids all by herself and was in a bad mental place and-" that's not an excuse. It doesn't help that alot of people in the world think that any form of that treatment is okay because it's from a family member or because they said sorry. Just because someone said sorry doesn't mean they will always mean it. When she apologized, that only made me angrier when watching the film and the family moves on, hardly even discussing what even happened or what she did and carried on with their lives. After watching Encanto I was obviously disappointed with the ending and the writing of mirabel. They wrote her to go crawling back to her abuela AS SOON as she apologized.
And then everyone just- GETS OVER IT??? It makes no sense to me and judging by people ranting reddit some people share my opinion on the movie.
The point that people miss is that abuela CHOSE to do this to her family and FORCE them into these molds just because of losing her husband and then that being used as an EXCUSE for everything she has done. I can't even watch the movie anymore due to how it ends and from how all of the problems are just put to the side.
I really think Encanto could have been something but it missed it's potential.
And I'm also speaking this from my OWN EXPERIENCES so YES I will be biased in some ways. I had a similar dynamic going on with some of my distant family and they treated me pretty similar to how mirabel was. Especially by one of my elders that acted just like how abuela acted towards mirabel. I no longer talk to my distant family and I avoid them as much as I can because you shouldn't force yourself to deal with people that don't truly care for you. It's not fair to yourself nor is it fair to the ones who ACTUALLY care for you. And it's not healthy either. That is NOT what family is.
And before you say "abuela didn't ABUSE mirabel" or "you're exaggerating the movie", here are some definitions for abuse.
To put to a wrong or improper use
A corrupt practice or custom
Language that condemns or vilifies usually unjustly, intemperately, and angrily
Neglect: the state or fact of being uncared for.
I feel like I've made my point now with the definitions. And if you search it up it will tell you that abuela "criticizes and ignores her gift-less granddaughter because she is at a loss and disappointed her".
The movie just REALLY strikes some chords with me because of this ending and how they decided to portray this dynamic. Whether you want to accept it or not, abuela DID abuse and neglect mirabel ever since she was a CHILD.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

I'm More Goth Than YOU! (Lee Micheal/ Ler Pete)
This takes place during the 'Basic Cable' episode (Season 23 Episode 9). After finding out that Micheal has already talked to the new girl Sophie, Pete finds himself wanting to discuss a few things with his friend...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"-So we just sat around and listened to Bauhaus when System of a Down came on after that. I was like, what the fuck am I listening to, you know. And they skipped the song like when it came on and it switched to another goth band but that's when I knew they were just another poser." Micheal rambled Pete's ear off while they were watching a scary movie together.
Pete was at Micheal's house as it was the start of the weekend and October, so naturally they had to kick it off right. However, watching scary movies was a year-round activity, so tonight was a bit basic by their standards. The movie of choice was Hereditary, but they've seen it so many times that they could talk and watch at the same time and not miss any beats.
Pete was zoning out if he were being honest. He had his mind set on a girl he had talked to earlier that day. Sophie Gray. She was really pretty and she seemed really cool, not unlike anyone else that went to their school. Even though she was new and Pete didn't really know her yet, he could tell that she was different. Pete laid his cheek on his fist while he thoughtlessly said the first thing that came to mind.
"I don't mind System of a Down if I'm in the right mood," Pete said honestly. Micheal turned to Pete with a look of disgust. Pete was laying on his side on the couch with his left leg bent at the knee and his right leg laid over Micheal's thigh. Micheal pushed Pete's leg off of him and crossed his arms with a sneer on his face.
"God, that's how I know you're a fucking poser," Micheal growled. That got Pete's attention. Pete looked up from the television and set his jaw in anger.
"What did you say?" Pete asked, testing Micheal. There was no way his friend would utter something like that again to his face.
"I'm just saying that no real child of darkness would be listening to something so mainstream. I've heard cheerleaders listen to Chop Suey before." Micheal said with venom in his tone.
"Oh yeah? Then how do you know a single song from the band anyway? You're a hypocrite, Micheal. Op- foreshadowing." Pete pointed to the TV where a hidden Easter egg was shown in the movie.
"Nice catch." Micheal relaxed after that. Micheal allowed Pete to put his leg back up to rest on his thigh so it wasn't hanging off the couch. It seemed like Micheal didn't want to be caught being a poser or a conformist in any way, shape, or form. Pete wondered why that was.
"So uh... that new girl at school. Sophie Gray? Talk to her yet?" Pete tested the waters with Micheal. Sophie had revealed that Micheal had already spoken to her before Pete had, and Gods knows what Micheal was saying about the people at the school. To save his own skin, Pete threw Micheal under the bus and called him a total poser. Because let's face it, no one was more goth than Pete was.
Micheal perked up at her name. "Yeah, she's pretty cool. I offered to show her around campus sometime and she started talking about Skinny Puppy. Can you believe it? She's not a conformist dickhole like every other new kid in South Park." Micheal carded his fingers through his curly hair while Pete stared back at the TV.
"Well, too bad she already accepted my invitation to show her around the school. She even said she wanted to talk later. Guess she's only into real goths." Pete was poking the bear on that one. Micheal turned to Pete with a look of thinly veiled shock.
"What? You talked to her? No way." He asked. Pete shrugged nonchalantly with a small smirk on his face.
"Yeah. She said she's not into posers. Her words." Micheal furrowed his brows at Pete's words.
"Well, I'm not a poser!" Micheal said defensively. Pete's smile only grew as he looked over his shoulder to meet Micheal's eyes.
"Then why would she say something like that? She said she doesn't like guys who try too hard." Pete's smile could be heard in his voice. Michael gave Pete an incredulous look and grabbed onto Pete's calve resting on his thigh.
"Did she actually say that Pete?" Micheal asked. Pete threw up his shoulders and turned his attention back to the TV.
"Are... Are you lying? Pete. Answer me." Pete kept a smug little grin on his face when he felt a hand squeezing the in-between spot of his knee and his thigh. Pete let out a shocked cry as he shook off the hand.
"Ah-hah! What are you doing creeper?!" Pete yelled, fighting to take his leg back. Micheal held onto his leg in a tight grip as he defended himself.
"I want you to answer me about Sophie Gray, dork! I'm not doing this 'cause I like it! Are you lying about what you said?" Micheal pressed.
Now one thing about Pete: He was a TERRIBLE liar. He could make stuff up on the spot about a story that was already established, but coming up with stuff out of thin air under pressure? He began to stutter and jerk his leg in Micheal's grip.
"I- I don't know! It's just what she said! Why do you-" Pete and Micheal both looked at the TV at the same time. The main character had passed by another Easter egg.
"Foreshadowing." They said at the same time.
They turned back to look at each other one more time before Micheal squished the inner part of Pete's knee, creeping into his inner thigh. Pete gave an inward squeak as he began giggling and kicking his leg.
"M-Mihihicheal! Stohohop! You're a weheheirdo!" Pete struggled and snickered while squirming all over Micheal's couch. Micheal hadn't heard Pete's ticklish laugh, or any laugh for that matter, since the tickling ritual at Henrietta's place a few months back. They don't really talk about that day, and for good reason.
"What, are you gonna call me a creep next? You're so mainstream it hurts, Pete. I don't know why Sophie would choose you to hang out with. If she should be hanging out with any goth at the school it should definitely be me." Micheal admitted. Pete managed an eye-roll in the midst of his tickle attack which Micheal definitely caught.
"Sounds like you're je-hehealous! Get off mehehe!" Pete snickered with Micheal grabbing both his lower thighs and squishing into the muscle. Through sheer luck (and some determination) Pete managed to sit up in a different position on the couch and grabbed Micheal by his jacket. Their small tussle took them to the floor of the living room in a bundle of pillows and blankets.
Pete thrust a hand out while blind in the flurry of objects surrounding them and just started to squish his hand over and over. Pete didn't really know why he shot his arm out to retaliate, but something in the back of his mind told him it would work.
His intuition seemed to be right as he felt the random body part he had grabbed start to shake with laughter. Pete forced himself out of the small blanket fort that had fallen on top of them and kept squeezing the body part he had in his hand.
He had Micheal's ribs in his grip, which he held onto for dear life. Satan, Micheal was a squirmer. It was like he was being electrocuted.
"Call me mainstream again, Micheal. Do it. I dare y-" Pete egged on Micheal, but he had never seen this expression on his face before. Micheal's eyes were screwed shut as he laughed out from the small amount of squeezes Pete was administering. Had Pete landed on his death spot by accident?
"Pehehete! Gehehe- *hick!* Gehehehet ohohoff- *hick!* ahahasshole! *hick!*" The sound of Micheal's hiccupy laughter filled the living room. Pete was dumbfounded. He had no idea how to react rather than to keep squeezing. Pete shoved both his hands on either side of Micheal's ribcage and scribbled his fingers into Micheal's bony frame. Micheal burst out into a fresh peal of laughter as he tried tucking his knees into his chest for protection.
"I'm gonna put you in your grave for calling me a poser, Micheal. I should record this and show it to Sophie to prove to her that you're just a ticklish conformist. I bet she'd get a real laugh out of that one. What do you think?" Pete was sure talking big words for someone who was ticklish himself. Micheal could do nothing as his head lay on the carpeted floor and laughed out.
Micheal tried fighting Pete's hands back, but that just raised his arm up and out of the way. Pete took the opportunity and shoved his hand into Micheal's armpit and simply moved his fingers in the space before Micheal snorted and squirmed underneath his friend.
"Gohohohod! Yohohohou- *hick!* yohohohou suhuhuhuhuck! *hick!* Screhehehew ohohohohoff! *hick!*" Despite his words, Pete had it hard taking Micheal seriously, seeing as he had a huge grin on his face and giggled out all of his threatening words. It didn't deter Pete of course, he's heard this all before.
"What did you say? You said I suck? You calling me a vamp kid now, Micheal?" Pete tossed his hair out of his eyes just as Micheal had managed to flip himself onto his belly and started clawing himself away from the situation. Pete launched into action as he grabbed his friend's right arm and barred it into his back.
"L-Let go of me! Sophie Gray knows I'm more goth than you, conformist! This is pointless!" Micheal shouted. Pete let out a disgusted groan as he jammed his fingers into Micheal's side, just underneath his lowest rib. If Pete thought he found Micheal's death spot before, he was dead wrong. Micheal immediately started fighting him and trying to hold back his immense giggles.
"Stahahahap! *hick!* Yohohou're fuhuhucking lahahame- *hick!* Pehehehete!" Micheal's face buried into the carpet of the living room while his shoulders jumped with laughter. Pete was a little shocked for words at how well he was taking control of the situation.
"Oh yeah, I'm lame, Micheal? I'm not the one laughing like a preppy straight-A cheerleader right now. If only Sophie were here, she could see how much of a princess you actually are." Pete had no idea where these fighting words were coming from, especially directed at someone who's always been more commonly revered among the goths AND older than him. Micheal struggled at that last remark but crumbled when he felt Pete finding the divet in his side. That was the spot right there.
"Fuhuhuhuck ohohohohoff! Yohohou- *hick!* Yohohohou're thehehe wohohohohorst! *hick!* Micheal tried lying on the side that was being tickled and swung with his free arm, but Pete was quick to grab the arm and stuff it by the other one and kept both his wrists behind his back in a vice grip. Now Pete alternated between tickling one side and switching to the other randomly.
That was cause for disaster. The randomness of the tickles in Micheal's worst spot kept him laughing as his brain was surprised at every turn where Pete would strike next. Not to mention with his increased laughter, his hiccups increased as well.
Pete could feel Micheal's legs bending at the knee and shooting out behind him over and over again as he sat on his hips. He felt all of his struggling underneath him, but his laugh was what intrigued him most. It was hiccupy yes but it was deeper than his speaking voice, and it had the same rasp to it. It would be more of a romantic laugh if it wasn't infested by those goofy hiccups.
"How much more of this do you wanna take, Micheal? You know what you have to say to get out of this. You have to say you're sorry for calling me a poser, you have to say I'm more goth than you, and you have to say Sophie Gray would prefer me over you showing her around the school cause you're a goddamn dorky ticklish conformist." Pete laid all this out while Micheal immediately started shaking his head.
"Nohohoho wahahahay!! I cahahahan't! *hick!* Ihihihihit's- *hick!* Ihihihihit's toohohohoo muhuhuhuch! *hick!*" Micheal's voice was getting weaker, maybe since he'd gotten tickled a lot longer than Pete was tickled just a moment ago. Pete decided to give Micheal a little boost. Pete let go of Micheal's hands behind his back just for Pete to grab both of his sides and scratch his blunt nails through the thin material of his blouse. Micheal let out a surprised noise as he fell back onto the carpet with his eyes screwed shut in laughter.
"Then I guess we'll stay here a while, Micheal. Say hi to Cthulu for me when you cross into the Ether." Pete flipped his hair out of his eyes while he watched Micheal manage a quick bird-flipping motion with his right hand. Pete groaned audibly as he shoved his fingers into Micheal's armpit, which made Micheal laugh hard.
"Just say you like it-" Pete was about to say before his phone chirped a notification sound. Pete looked back at his phone and decided to give Michael a break. Pete unlatched himself from Micheal's hips as he walked on his knees to read the notification. With Micheal's freedom, Micheal rolled onto his back and gulped in greedy amounts of air with a hand over his beating heart.
"You're a fucking dickhole, Pete... I swear to-" Micheal started, but Pete interrupted him.
"Oh shit. Sophie just invited me to her house. She said she wants to watch something." Pete looked over to Micheal, who was sitting up with a pained expression on his face. It was then that Micheal's phone chirped as well. Micheal pulled his phone out of his pocket and read out the message he received.
"I got an invitation too," Micheal said simply.
"What should we do?" Pete asked. Micheal started typing and sent back a message.
"I asked her what we'll watch," Micheal replied. Pete nodded and flipped his hair out of his eyes before sending the same question to Sophie.
A moment passed before both of their phones chirped at the same time.
"Mandalorian?" They both said out loud in an equally disgusted tone.
"She has a Disney Plus account?" Pete asked.
"Fucking conformist," Micheal said, displeased.
"Nope." Pete and Micheal said in unison before shutting down her invitation.
"Welp, so much for that. What should we do now?" It was then that the main character screamed from the television, grabbing both Micheal and Pete's attention.
Pete and Micheal decided to make up and spend the rest of the night watching cheesy horror movies. None of what they said they actually meant, and they really felt that way. Besides, no way a conformist could actually change the way two REAL goths thought about each other.
Pete did have some interesting stories to tell the rest of the group while Micheal wasn't around, however...

WATCHING THE MESSENGER: THE STORY OF JOAN OF ARC (what a mouthful) FINAL THOUGHTS (sort of, I'm never done with Jeanne D'arc):
so the thing that's interesting about this one is that in writing her young and inexperienced which she was and also wrapped into this movie's depiction of womanhood and in the way it writes mental health is that she's got this sort of "idek what i'm doing or what the consequences are" vibe to her a lot of the time, especially after the first big battle and she sees all the corpses around her and has a meltdown followed by what seems to be dissociation for pretty much the whole rest of the film until her death
and the other thing is the things it chooses to play very straight and the things it does very differently -- so the killing of her sister in the beginning, which gives an early trauma to hearken back to and an added "impetus" for her to go to war, and which never happened vs the very specific sources it chose to deal with for her relationship to gender presentation (shocker i'm going into that), opting to nearly totally brush past it until the scene where she's "forced" to wear men's clothing again and gets burned for it -- which there is, to be clear, textual evidence that she wasn't given other clothes while incarcerated and did get judged for that, but also noticeably didn't include any of the other writing related to her visions telling her to wear men's clothing and this movie heavily mixing joan's visions with her as someone who's got a mental health issue of some kind, it's interesting that this snag of the clothing was mainly done away with, because it's a film that doesn't totally engage with her as someone with agency. she's mad, you see. that is the focal point. and what does "wearing men's clothings because the visions told me to" have to do with this madness? nothing, in fact it's kind of... not-very-mad-seeming
which is interesting as a counterpoint to a version i saw in the globe, which kind of went "an interpretation of joan as ye olde non-binary and also a lesbian" (this is flippantly written for brevity's sake, it was doing more than that, but that is the gist) which i did enjoy for the way it brought together a massive community of trans and nb theatre-goers within the globe and really felt like it was more for us than for joan, which i had struggles with because it went so far into the other direction of making everything a bit too modern for me. a bit too "joan's doing these choices with the idea that one day men's clothing will become allowed and joan has an internal sense of gender that coheres with modern sensibilities," and being a little timid around the religious and vision-y side of things
which is the crux of joan. you probably won't get a version that you're totally satisfied with, because joan As Figure encapsulates so many seeming paradoxes that we project ourselves onto. there's a distinct messiness to her that is very human in a way you don't always feel to quite this extent with mythos -- probably because of those court records and the subsequent early writings and the fact that she was nineteen years old when she was killed and it wasn't really that long ago comparatively
I think this movie struggled under the weight of that humanity, not for lack of trying to show it, but a. because of whatever personal bias besson went in with (which included basically stealing the project from kathryn bigelow and casting his then-wife mila jovovich, so youknow. there's some Vibes inherent in that already, and i do think bigelow could have done much more with both the feminism and the action, both of which were very uneven in this version imo) b. because of whatever other weird choices were made (i still think it was incredibly ugly-looking and many of the actors were flat -- not you, vincent cassel you were great) and c. because a movie possibly can't do it justice in the first place idk. we'll keep searching
obvs the passion of joan of arc is a masterclass. but it manages to get around a lot of these issues by essentially being all about the trial and a study of one of the most evocative faces ever put to silent film -- now that's giving "because the visions told me to"!

How many languages do you know?
💕 english is my first language but i speak both spanish and english at home! i've been studying spanish for 20+ years, i speak spanish exclusively with my husbands' family (they only speak spanish!), and am comfortable getting my point across on most everyday-life things. i read in spanish for fun/to study (i forced my husband to read la sociedad de la nieve with me when we both got obsessed with the movie on netflix, even though he's not a reader at all haha), and we have a house rule about always watching movies in the language in which they were created EXCEPT FOR SHREK, which we both agree is extremely well done and just as funny (if not even funnier) in spanish. we do a lot of code-switching for the most part, and whenever we have kids, we'll follow the One Parent One Language plan, except for when we're out at restaurants, because we always ONLY speak spanish while going out to eat, it's just habit at this point. 😂 i once tried to write fic in spanish back in the early 2010s while living in spain but i felt that i didn't have all the vocab that i needed to give my writing the same vibe as in my first language, so i haven't tried writing fic in spanish since... (maybe i should??) for now i content myself with reading larivera's (@laurakrivera) spanish fic!! however, my academic!professional!spanish is much more developed than my fic!spanish writing style, lol, so when i publish my non-fiction book in english, i will work on writing the spanish translations myself (and force my husband to help me lmao)
i learned japanese fundamentals (e.g., basic vocab/phrases, word order, hiragana, katakana, some core kanji) when i was 12 (like most inuyasha-obsessed kids, maybe?? 🤣) and i learned a LOT when i lived there for a year and a half as an adult! but i never took any formal classes, it was all self-taught and in the streets (LITERALLY lmao, shoutout to the people of tokyo). i wasn't allowed to speak japanese at all in my job, so i turned to apps like hellotalk to practice and make friends who really wanted to engage in language exchange. (duolingo didn't add japanese as a language option until after i came back! 🤣😭) so i was just out there in the wild, picking it all up as i went along. i understand a lot more than i can speak, but i could probably hold a pretty convincing conversation with someone for 2 minutes before it became clear that i'd exhausted my limited repertoire. 🤣 i'd get by with a lot of discourse markers and reaction expressions and いいね! and 本当に!? and そうですね 😊 before i fell off the track completely lol.
i did 3 months of german on duolingo to prepare for a conference i presented at in austria a few years ago! helped with everyday basics, but i'm not currently investing in this language right now since i don't have many opportunities to use it in daily life like i do my other languages.
also just started learning korean literally five days ago. still working on the vowels. 🤣 i'm learning for friends, for potential work opportunities, for K-POP joking joking or am i, and also i'm a big believer in the philosophy of keeping the mind fresh and getting excited about Being "Bad" at Something every once in a while, as i purposefully Try New Things to ward off complacency, keep my brain happy and sharp, and remind myself that i can Do Hard Things. (of course, once you start to learn so many languages, your metalinguistic and metacognitive pattern-seeking skills really kick in, so approaching korean is a lot different than how it was in my other language learning experiences, so far 🤣) stay tuned, i guess haha!!
i guess you can see why i'm so obsessed with the idea of elsa being a serial polyglot/multilingual queen in basically every universe i write her in, not only because it fits with her upbringing/education/oryal duties but also i feel like elsa would appreciate all instances in life in which she could exert control over her surroundings by finding patterns and "rules" in languages and finding beauty in expressing so many meanings through so many different avenues when she herself had so much trouble expressing herself at all for so long should i write a one-shot about elsa's multilingualism as it pertains to NO KRIS NO STOP YOU HAVE WORK NOW KRIS NO

In the recent release of the FNAF movie, I just want to put out some head cannons about Avengers Academy. The comic Avengers Academy, not the game.
Tumblr media
These guys. I really like the team here and it genuinely hurts me that there is not a lot of stuff about them anywhere, specifically where it explores their journey outside of the Academy, except for X-23 and a handful of others.
This would take place before the end of the comic series, where everyone is still part of the Academy.
Reptil is 100% a FNAF fan who watched Markiplier & popular gamer Youtubers, played the games and subscribed to Game Theory Pre-FNAF era. He became obsessed with the game when he was a preteen and it took over his life for a few years. He watched all the content, listen to the fan made music, watched the FNAF musical, and read the books to delve into the mysteries to distract him from the absence of his parents. He largely kept his interest mostly to himself, mainly because most of the others weren’t fans when they met and was thrilled when the movie was announced. In the months leading up to the release date, he organised a month long event where he would watch/play through all the available FNAF games (or watch the Markiplier's versions if he was tired), write down some of his own theories and draft up a timeline, then watch Game theory to see if there was anything else he would look for and before finishing off with the Musical. The month took into account to any world ending events that might take place while also making room for training. Basically set up a cinema experience in the biggest spare room on the campus
Finesse was one of the first of the group who learned about Reptil's FNAF obsession whilst they were in the midst of their situationship but wasn’t all that interested in it. She didn't find it too appealing because it was obvious to her that there were than a few retcons placed in whatever narrative the creator thought up and thought it was a waste of time. She did however, humour Humberto by allowing him to talk about whatever details were frustrating him.
Mettle got into FNAF when he walked in on Reptil playing through one of the games and a jumpscare scared him. He was aware of the games because of the Markiplier memes but wasn't interested enough to actually play through the game to see what the hype was. After a while of seeing Humberto playing through each of the games, he decided to take a crack out of it. It couldn't be that hard if he played the games blind, right? It was. It was a very humbling experience when he jumpscared again and broke his computer after he tossed it out the window. After that he decides to just watch a few play throughs and talked to Humberto about it. He got very into it, and Humberto eventually got him to watch Game Theory as well. He doesn't understand what's happening but is just there for the vibes.
Hazmat doesn't care to know anything about the games or the fandom. She didn't care for before until she saw Mettle destroy his computer when she walked in. Kind of forced to learn about it when overhearing Mettle and Reptil's conversations and be somewhat disturb by how much they've gotten into it. She mildly enjoys the meme and only laughs at compilation videos. This is the same with Lightspeed, White Tiger and a few of the other kids in the Academy.
Striker is one of the few who hates the game. He genuinely find the games stupid, mainly the fact that no one seems to know anything that's going on. If the reason why the games are so popular than what's the point of making it into a film and catering it to one group of people.
Veil was into FNAF when she was younger but lost interest in it after the fourth game. She thought that was a good stopping point in the series and didn’t pick it up until after. She has some old merch back and hears a few things about FNAF from time to time.
X-23 was surprisingly interested in the FNAF. It happened around the time Mettle got interested and started talking about it with Reptil. With her interest peaked, she decided to use it as a way to fine something to talk to them about. But she did not expect to really get into it. Finished watching the playthoughs and reading the books in a few days before coming to Mettle and Reptil about it. She is mostly confused about the relationship between the book and the games but she's very interested in it.
Everyone in the Academy more or less got involved in watching the reviewing all the FNAF content. in the month before the FNAF film came out, most if not everyone at the Academy set up for the FNAF Viewing in the common area with snacks, comfy cushions and blankets and everyone in their pajamas. The other members of the Academy don’t really know what its about but came any. They all ended up going to watch the film with him when the Academy later disbanded not long later.
Giant Man, Tigra and the other teachers are mostly unaware of FNAF but find. Quicksilver was annoyed to find the team’s leader was distracting himself and the others with something so childish. Tigra and Giant Man didn’t mind it as Reptil did take into account to space it for a month and saw it as a group bonding exercise with everyone taking part in the reviewing. Jocasta didn’t really care so long as it didn't clash with their training schedules or missions. Hawkeye and the others were alright with it but was disturbed when he walked in on Reptil explaining the Bite of 83 and the Springlocks in extreme detail to everyone in the room. But they did find it hilarious when Wolverine called them asking why the hell X-23 spent nearly four-hundred dollars on FNAF merch.
Lastly, on their way over to watch the FNAF film, Reptil, Mettle and X-23 wore FNAF cosplayed. Both Reptil and Laura wore security guard uniform, Humberto as the Purple Guy while X-23 was in grey with a white mask strapped to her security belt, as Vanessa/Vanny and Mettle cosplayed as Golden Freddie.

idk if I've said it here yet but I was one of those kids who was not allowed to watch cartoons or go online until I was significantly older. my mom literally blocked TV channels that showed cartoons. I was allowed to watch spongebob and gravity falls because my dad liked them but I got no adventure time, no gumball, no regular show, no power puff girls, no jimmy neutron, etc until I was much older and could watch them on my own.
I was allowed, however, to watch whatever disney movie I liked because my mom liked disney and considered it age-appropriate and decent enough. ofc I immediately found the most mature one possible and grew a massive embarrassing special interest over it that led to me begging and crying my parents to buy me paintings of the notre dame whenever we went to paris when we were visiting family. I still have them! was unironically obsessed with paris and the medieval ages/early renaissance because of that damn movie
SIMILARLY, since I wasn't allowed online I've never played club penguin or poptropica or anything, I was never on omegle or kik or wattpad. I do not have forum experiences.
I got internet ACCESS when I was 10 but it was heavily monitored so I couldn't talk to anyone or make any accounts, certain websites were blocked, my browser history was checked and so were my messages. etc etc. I basically just used it to pirate movies which I figured out how to do insanely early lmao.
so the first account I ever got to make on my own accord was when I was fourteen.
which was five years ago. five!
my first tumblr (the hercules one) I made when I was fifteen. THREE years ago! early 2020!
anyway all of this explains why I'm really bad at fandom stuff and don't really understand certain online etiquette. and also why I talk about kids movies a lot and not like breaking bad or whatever.
I am consumed by childhood abuse trauma if u didn't get that vibe already LOL and while I DO consume adult stuff (again big interest in religion/history so I really really like reading about history and culture and various mythology. I'm actually rereading dante's inferno rn :)) I am unfortunately tethered to kids movies forever. both dreamworks and disney (dreamworks makes better movies but alas I am cursed by the pull of thond and hercules)
my saving grace is that there's so little merch for my faves and I fucking HATE the parks, you literally have to drag me kicking and screaming to an amusement park, so I don't qualify for disney adult. amen.

001 for both mckirk and spones please!
This is gonna be long :D I'm gonna have to use read more
001 | send me a ship and I will tell you: mckirk
when I started shipping it if I did: so when the lockdown in 2020 started, I had nothing to do and just watched stuff. I have this favourite dubber and I was looking at the list of stuff he dubbed, and saw Star Trek AOS on that list. This guy is the voice of 2000s Alan Rickman, Tom Hanks, Tony Stark, he also apparently dubbed Garak in that one Star Trek series, and so seeing the reboot films on the list and his name next to McCoy, I was like, gotta check how he sounds. The fact that Kirk was also dubbed by a guy I generally like was a plus. (funnily enough Captain America/Iron Man and Kirk/McCoy are dubbed by the same guys here, which is funny to me). So I checked youtube and the scene I saw was the scene in Beyond where Kirk and McCoy are alone and are having a drink. And that scene did something to my brain, and I was like this is the dynamic I want, I wanna read fics, so before that I had to watch the films. So I watched AOS, basically through McCoy (Kirk/McCoy) lenses and started to read fics. Three weeks later, I decided to watch TOS because a lot of the fics referenced Kirk's backstory, so I wanted to know about it. The three weeks reading fics and looking through livejournal, kind of made me think that McCoy wasn't really an important character in TOS and that AOS made up the mckirk relationship (such a lie), so when I started watching TOS, I only planned to watch episodes heavy on McCoy. Which like... were most of them at the beginning lol I kinda decided not to trust the fandom after like three episodes or something. I binged the three seasons of TOS in like three weeks. I've had a hard time seeing tos!Kirk with men for a long time (I've had a complicated "relationship" with tos!Kirk for so long), so my interest in tos!mckirk was primarily as a platonic relationship [but it was always my fave relationship, I liked it even more than spones, actually] (but romantic in aos), but I started to insert Kirk into my spones fics, wrote a part from his POV, and then one day I just woke up and decided to write a tos!mckirk fic (it was actually because I started to read aos fics again, getting back into aos!mckirk, but... the tos version has been calling me) and just embraced the romantic (and sexual lol) aspect of their relationship.
my thoughts: I love their friendship so much. It's very important to me. I like that McCoy knows what to say to pull Kirk back on the right path, I like that Kirk can be vulnerable around McCoy. In AOS I like that McCoy is the only one Kirk shares stuff with about his mother and his insecurities (in Beyond it looked like he never even allowed the other crew to acknowledge his birthday... until McCoy finally decided to give him a party, after 5 years on the Enterprise...)
What makes me happy about them: we see both of them the most at ease around each other. They can forget who they are around each other, for a moment, at least. McCoy gives Kirk some of his most brightest smiles; McCoy can make Kirk genuinely laugh. Kirk needs him. badly.
What makes me sad about them: I eat angst for breakfast, so uhm...
things done in fanfic that annoys me: the lack of their friendship even in gen fics T_T (we all know what annoys me in aos fic, we don't need a rehash)
things I look for in fanfic: having more fics would be fun lol You know, just a genuine intimacy they show in the the show. Jim's sense of duty being the cause of angst.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:  McCoy with Spock (I do like the idea of mckirk to spones after the movie era, more or less). tos movie era Kirk? Actually, no one.
My happily ever after for them: buying a cabin in the mountains and getting two dogs (one big and one small) post TUC (then we can stop time lol or not...)
who is the big spoon/little spoon: idk haven't thought about their sleeping position. It would probably change based on what kind of story I'd wanna tell
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: .... you know, they're happy when they find the time to have sex...
spones under the cut
001 | send me a ship and I will tell you: spones
when I started shipping it if I did: so above I said that I started to watch TOS because of mckirk, right? Mainly because of The Conscience of the King and Tarsus IV, right? Well... I finished that episode shipping spones LMAO It really was quite quick for me.
my thoughts: the most engaging dynamic in TOS imho
What makes me happy about them: The loyalty, the trust. They were in each other's lives for 100 years. 100 years. That they're more similar than different. That they actually understand each other, but would never admit it. "I don't think I could stand to lose you again." < what is that? so real to have McCoy say that
What makes me sad about them: that they would leave the other one behind and die if it meant to save Kirk (this isn't meant negatively, I'm not really explicit about it or talk about it, but my spones know that Kirk's life is a priority, sometimes even just to show that no, we're not emotionally compromised, we know what our duty is kinda way. I just think it'd be great to explore that in a fic)
things done in fanfic that annoys me: uhm (I'm speaking in general, it is just my opinion based on my taste; I believe that everyone should write what makes them happy, we can't ever please every single person) McCoy using hobgoblin, elf, jackrabbit (the last two are terms that Kirk used to make Spock angry) as a form of affection/endearment, or at all tbh. McCoy being insecure because of Kirk. (give me Spock being insecure because of McCoy-Kirk friendship) Some people feeling guilty about writing spones and therefore still making kirk-spock have the specialest bond *rolls eyes* I just don't get the need to quantify relationships, I guess. Any kind of pet names.
things I look for in fanfic: balanced relationship, mature arguments that don't rely on pettiness, trying to combine the different world views, not needing to express love in a traditional way, but a way that works for the two of them and their two differing cultures.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: McCoy with Kirk, obviously. Spock with Chapel or T'Pring (even during the movie era, yes).
My happily ever after for them: 100 years. What more do you want? LOL My personal hc is that when McCoy dies, and Spock goes to Romulus, McCoy's spirit is always there because a part of his soul stayed inside Spock's katra. So Spock is just haunted by McCoy's spirit until he dies on New Vulcan, and then they're put into the katra stone. Together forever.
who is the big spoon/little spoon: I imagine them more as Spock sleeping on his back and McCoy's head on his arm/chest.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: banter (they especially enjoy if it makes Kirk exasperated)
[ask meme]

I'm a 30 year old transmasc non-binary person. I saw the movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire when I was 7 in the theater. My dad's dad had just died, and we weren't all that close. But, it really helped me to see Milo process the death of his own grandfather at the time. I think Atlantis came out about a year(?) after my dad's dad died? Anyway, I really always related to Milo even if I couldn't understand why at the time. (Now I get it.) I just watched the movie again because I wanted to, and my toddler watched bits and pieces with me while we shared some tea. They watched me *bawl.* My mom's dad, though we never got to talk about the fullness of my experience before he died a little less than two years ago, was the only family member who just understood me with no words. He never knew my name or pronouns - so he never used them. But, he got *me.* His yard was where I could climb trees, feed birds, roughhouse, and do all the "forbidden boyish" stuff. I watched Robin Hood and The Sorcerer's Stone in his living room. I built towers up to the ceiling. I got to read Frankenstein on his porch when I was in the seventh grade. I'm pretty sure my first unabridged copy of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries was purchased for me by him. He was basically my dad or second-dad. Later, he would listen to me talk about my papers, my poems, and my stories and, in turn, I'd listen to the latest of his research in biophysics, when he was still a researcher, or I'd listen to him explain, in layman's terms, the newest experiments he would read about after he stopped doing his own stuff. These were our lost civilizations and genuine arrowheads. When Mr. Whitmore handed Milo the Shepherd's Journal and said the line "Our lives are marked by the gifts we leave our children, and this is your grandfather's gift to you." My own kid was pillowed on my shoulder. I heard that line at 7. I cried in the theater because it's sad. You don't have to have lived the line for it be sad. I needed to learn loss young so I could feel loss better older. Because, now? That line collapsed on me like a ton of bricks, but I didn't get crushed by those bricks. I had a hard hat and padding to protect me. Like I said, my grandfather was like my dad. He's not coming back. But, he has given me so much. He has left me so much, and I get to decide what I want to leave to my own kid someday. I get to decide what world, what legacy, and what I leave for my own child. Because, it wasn't just the journal that Thaddeus left for Milo. It was the values that allowed Milo to remain steadfast when standing up to people physically stronger than him. I remember that right now. Especially right now. It's not just the intellectual gifts my grandfather left me. It's the tenacity. It's the love. It's protectiveness. It's the gentleness. It's the grace. It's the desire to be curious. It's the *need* to know. It's quiet faith. It's the desire to do justice. It's the desire to see peace for the next generation. It's the desire to listen to all sides of an argument before saying my own piece while also knowing when things have gone way too far and need to be shut down. It's knowing when and how to give people space to grow in their own way and time. Because, while everyone else in my family was forcing me into dresses, my grandfather was letting me climb trees in jeans and sneakers. He also didn't bat an eyelash when I cut my hair off my junior year of high school. So, he may not be here. But, he lives in the gifts he left me. So, while, I got my vaccine at 7, it didn't take effect until 28. Even then, I'm only just starting to feel like I'm actually inoculated at 30.
We can't be afraid to keep inoculating the youth. Kids need to see death, loss, and such like in their media. Withholding it from them just makes them less equipped for these exact moments when they're older. I firmly believe that.

Dear, sweet, Littlefoot, do you remember the way to the Great Valley?  I guess so. But why do I have to know if you’re going to be with me? I’ll be with you. Even if you can’t see me. What do you mean I can’t see you? I can always see you.

when i first watched this movie and this scene, i was into the second year of dating a girl who would become my wife of now 15 years.
i didn't realize then how this scene really did capture the essence of how our modern mindset makes us alone. at the time, i think our relationship might have also reached a point where we would get into more serious "fights" which would force us to decide if this is going to be one that goes the distance or not.
every relationship is transactional. you find someone that meets your specific needs, you meet their specific needs, so then you have that relationship so long as the transactions satisfy all parties involved.
not very romantic, but it is true.
it is only when a couple is enamored with each other that the transactional aspect of relationship is not a problem. which makes sense why short-term relationships are so full of passion and fun... until it's not.
to become a long-term relationship, it has to survive past the point were at least one of the participants of this relationship realizes that the transactions of the relationship are not "fair". at least one person will feel that they are not getting enough from the other person while they are giving their all. every relationship if it persists long enough will run into this because no relationship's transactions will be constantly 50/50- plus the value of what someone brings to the table in a relationship initially will likely change over time as well.
modern people have 2 issues that work against them in the pursuit of long-term relationship success: our upbringing and pride. pride has always been a problem for people but our modern upbringing makes it worse. there was a time when life made it clear to us that life wasn't about us. there wasn't a lot of toys, children/young adult books, or public resources meant for the cultivation of a child/young person's value of self. as soon as possible, a person had to realize that he or she had a role that their family's and probably their village's survival counted on. the age of this responsibility quite possibly started by the age of 4 for our ancestors. if they were given any formal education, it often just enough to allow them to perform that task everyone needed... which meant that besides the very basic reading, writing, and math, it would be likely more trade-specific. all this to say, a person realized earlier on that life was not about them in previous generations. as we modernized, this realization has been perpetually delayed with things like the Bible as the only herald to tell us that life is not about us. just about everything in modern life tells us that life is about us. everything... except love. of course, in modern times and in relationships, we've brought the idea into that arena that we should get what we deserve because we are worth it. but love is not so... at least not the biblical kind of love that is spoken of in famous excerpts such as 1 Corinthians 13. it turns out that love is sacrificial and all about putting another before oneself. the root of the problem is the sin of pride. pride insists on his/her own way, and someone that will accept nothing less than his/her own way will be alone because that is the only way to always have it your way. pride makes for cold company.
i was lucky when i came to our first major "fight". i didn't realize at that time that our relationship hung on such a balance. i did think to myself that i could do better. i did feel like i wasn't getting everything i wanted, and that the relationship was becoming more work than i had bargained for. i did feel wronged and had every justification and proof to provide as evidence. but for some reason, as we sat on that curb, despite the flaws that we pointed out in each other, we decided to continue with each other instead of parting and looking for better.
modern dating concepts would have said we were foolish... we sold ourselves short. and maybe we could have found better. but for how long? how long until we would want better again? how long until we held onto ourselves for too long and no longer can secure even a short-term relationship because of age?
i didn't know it then, but at day we chose to sell ourselves short turned out to be the beginning of us really loving each other.

Intro
I felt inspired by Pride Month, and occasionally throughout the year I get curious about #asexuality on tumblr, so I'm writing some stuff. :)
I've known I'm asexual for quite a while now. I'm a Cis Woman in my early 30's, but probably discovered the term "asexual" when I was....18-19 maybe? I don't reeeeally remember how I found out about that word but it was a very underwhelming moment haha. It wouldn't surprise me if I discovered it through tumblr though. I remember seeing the word, reading about it and being all "Oh that's me! wowww, well there you go", went about my day, and now here we are lol.
I've been incredibly lucky with the timeline of my sexuality. I did obviously grow up in a world where the default was straight, LGBTQIA+/LGBT I don't recall ever hearing or seeing. So when there were questions like "What does your ideal man look like", "What would be the perfect wedding" etc, I could answer those. I never had much thought or feeling behind it, but they weren't really hard to answer. I think that's also another benefit of being a naturally quiet/shy/introverted kid growing up; you're not really as involved in conversations. I was able to grow up with almost no hounding about who I like, why aren't I dating, do I have a boyfriend, etc. Also romantic and sexual conversations were quite...minimal? I wasn't ignorant to the fact that it all existed, but I wasn't in social circles where it was frequent conversation either? It allowed me to live in a very quiet bubble, so quiet that I never actually felt different from others and never got upset that I didn't have a crush or whatever. I kinda just assumed it wasn't my time yet, it'll happen eventually, and I kept thinking that until I found the word asexual haha.
On the flip side it made it a bit more difficult for me to resonate with #asexuality on tumblr. For the most part the posts I saw were about feeling like an outcast/different from everyone else, having trouble explaining asexuality to people, all sorts of things. All of which are incredibly valid, and I'm lucky to have lived a basically stress-free asexual life so far. Me who lived in my bubble for so long, who isn't "out" to anyone, means I don't ~feel~ asexual cause I've never felt....different. Or just different enough to care. Over the years I discovered more ribs under the asexual umbrella, and some of them I've thought "oh yeah I think that explains me more", but then I'm also never quite sure either lol, so I just stick with the broad term asexual. s*x mentioning below.
In regards to sex I think I float between positive-neutral-repulsed lol. Maybe it's because we grow up so exposed to sex being part of an intimate relationship, so in works of fiction I can look forward to that. Especially when it's the first time for a couple. Most of the time I stay in neutral in regards to myself, and then here and there float towards repulsed. Funny ole brain. I have noticed over the years that I can get exposure fatigue? to it. I can enjoy written sex scenes in fiction but if it's happening often in the book I get sick of reading about it. The same thing happens with TV shows, so you can imagine Bridgerton gets a lot of random skipping ahead from me hah. Also I find p*rn far too graphic so I don't watch it. I think I like the silhouette of it from afar? So basically movie/tv/book romance sex.
Attractions musings are next.

survey #161
What’s the worst side effect you’ve had from a medication? In middle school, a medicine I'd started for either depression or bipolar symptoms resulted in me becoming a literal fucking demon around the time school would end; I'd go into school on cloud nine, hyper and happy as hell, but I was a kid my mom didn't even recognize when she'd pick me up around 3-ish, and for absolutely no reason. I was just insanely aggressive, snappy, permanently scowling, and all-around unpleasant. I did nooooot stay on the med long.
What has been the most effective medication you’ve taken, & what was it for? Latuda with Lamictal as a catalyst. It wasn't until I started this combination that I started to feel life in me after the breakup, and I absolutely consider it to have played a deep part in helping me climb out of my depression pit. That's when I really started to improve. I only ever stopped it because I guess my body got too used to it, because I stopped responding to it.
Do you keep your health issues private, or are you open about them? I'm pretty open about this stuff.
Do you have a service dog? No.
Do you know if you can have kids or not? I would assume so, I have a regular menstrual cycle and I've definitely gotten cramping around the times I should've been ovulating too, so.
What’s one med that has made you gain weight? Abilify, which I will fucking never touch again. It entirely murdered my metabolism and is one of the root causes of my initial extreme weight gain.
Have you ever felt unsafe in a hospital? Sure have, primarily the last time I was there waiting to go to the psych hospital and there was a very unstable man basically stuck there because no nearby hospitals would take him or something like that. He had to be regularly sedated. Even more than this case, while at the psych hospital last, I KNOW I've talked plenty about the man that was pure rapist material in there that would cross over onto the women's wing (the doors are supposed to stay locked, by the way) and literally roam down our hall peeking into the rooms like a total fucking predator, he was terrifying. He would heavily flirt with various women and was just fucking appalling, I can barely believe he was allowed in this section of the hospital, and the staff was so shit at ACTUALLY grabbing this man and MAKING him go back to the men's side, they'd just call to him but ultimately do nothing. I hate that hospital so motherfucking much, I can't believe it's still standing.
As a child, did you ever watch any shows on TV that were maybe too grown-up or a little inappropriate? Not in general, however I was totally obsessed with Jurassic Park 3, like I watched the movie SO many times, and the levels of gore may definitely be considered a lot for a young kid, but I handled it fine and it never made me really upset to see, plus my parents knew how much I fuckin' loved dinos, so they allowed it. I do wonder how I first saw it though, haha.
Do you remember how old you were, when you first began to use swearwords? Not the exact age, but I DO know I was definitely in 7th grade, however old I was then.
Are there any foods or beverages that you loved as a child but wouldn't touch as an adult? Uh maybe. I know as a baby I liked peas according to Mom, which I hate now and have for as long as I can remember.
Does anyone in your life use terms of endearment a lot when talking to you? Girt most of all, but also my mom, Girt's mom, I feel like Dad still does sometimes, and occasionally Mazzy and I think Tez will too.
Is there anyone that you communicate with daily, but not in person? Yes, Girt.
Have you discovered any new bands or singers lately, that you're into? No, it's pretty rare I do that, I'm one of those people that tends to stick to what I know, even if I do tend to enjoy new stuff when I chase it.
Have you ever carved a pumpkin before? How about roasting the pumpkin seeds? Yes, I REALLY want to get back into carving pumpkins this year! I've never roasted pumpkin seeds, however; I don't like pumpkins in any way as food.
Do you/have you ever played basketball? Yes, as a kid; besides dance, it's the sport I had the most fun with.
Have you ever owned a pet goldfish before? Only as a child and FAR from properly, I'm talking about those poor fellas you win at fairs and stuff.
Have you ever had a kidney stone before? No, and god I hope I never do, I know people say it's one of the most miserable experiences imaginable. My own mother has had them and she said recently in a relevant convo that she'd rather give birth to triplets than ever experience this again.
Do you like orange soda or orange juice? I like both, yes, ESPECIALLY orange cream soda!! That always takes me back to being a kid and hanging out at my neighbor's place; they tended to keep some brand of it. Man, I'd love to have one of those again.
Have you ever had orange chicken before? How was it? Yes, I don't like it. I generally dislike meat that has a sweetness to it, it doesn't sit right in my mouth.
Do you know how to say “orange” in another language? Haha I guess kinda, it's spelled the same in German, just obviously not pronounced the same. I actually googled it to ensure I was saying it right AND NOPE lmfao man it's been too long
Are your eyebrows thick? I think they look pretty average.
Do you have fat lips? No, another thing that looks pretty average to me, I've never heard a comment about their size.
How big are your hands? Normal in scale, but I do have long and narrow fingers; my hands in general are pretty slim and flowy, I've always been able to like, slide security bracelets from various places off whenever everyone else would need to like cut theirs off.
What is your idea of getting dressed up for oh say… a romantic dinner? I don't really have truly "fancy" attire, so I guess the only real difference would be me getting a shirt from my closet instead of dresser (I keep "fancier" stuff hung up in there versus folded and buried), and I'd likely put a necklace on. Maybe a little bit of perfume, dunno.
What kind of car(s) is parked in your driveway? It's some very old white Kia.
When is the last time you had ice cream? Sunday actually, at Girt's.
Are you white/black/Asian/Mexican/etc? I'm very white lol.
Ever known anyone who did business with a prostitute? Maybe, but I don't know about it.
Are your real parents divorced? If your parents are divorced, how old are your step-parents? Do you like your step-parents, or are they assholes? They're divorced as fuck/I can barely believe they were ever married, and only my dad has re-married since, and his wife is a year or two younger than him. She has asshole beliefs, being aggressively religious and a total bigot about it, but she's also always been good to my sisters and me, and Dad too.
[TW: DOMESTIC ABUSE] Ever had an abusive parent or other family member? If so, what’s the worst they did? Not in my immediate family, no, but I know I have one aunt that we're all pretty sure has been an emotionally abusive parent.
Got any step siblings? If so, how many? Are they annoying or cool? Kim (Dad's aforementioned wife) has one adult son, I think his name's Michael, but I reeeaaally don't know him well at all; he's quiet and very reclusive. Last I knew he still lived with them, but seeing as he has a baby coming now apparently, I have no idea what he's up to, where he's at, anything. I don't even consider him my brother whatsoever with how unfamiliar I am with him.
Are either of your parents engaged but not married yet? No, my mother hasn't even had an s/o following the divorce, which breaks my heart a fucking lot. I worry a lot for when I move out. No partner has ever loved her in a way she actually deserves and it's really upsetting.
Ever had to take care of a baby sibling? If do, did you feel responsible, or were you just annoyed? No, I was only barely two when Nicole was born, so I wasn't taking care of anybody lol.
Have you ever had a close friend get knocked up early? No.
Do you prefer baby boys or baby girls? Girls, I suppose. I know if *I* had a kid I'd absolutely want a girl over a boy for multiple reasons, but when it comes to just kids in general, it doesn't matter much.
Are you one of those losers that buy things with the letter of your name? Lol that's mean, but no, I was never into that.
What’s the highest up you’ve ever been? Uh I actually don't know. Either on an amusement park ride or just in a building.
Do you prefer to be outside or inside? I get more pleasure and peace being outside in weather I can tolerate well, but I'm more often comfortable inside because of AC.
Have you ever planted something? Yeah, a few times.
Do you believe in mermaids? No.
Do you like to be outside in the rain? No, I really hate the feeling of my clothes getting wet.
Does it snow where you live? Rarely; not even every year, and having a good snow that actually stays on the ground for a while is rarer. More than anything, we get mixed condensation, so all the rain just makes it melt.
What’s your favourite thing to do in the winter? Photograph snowy scenery.
What’s your favourite carnival ride? Of the general ones you can think of, probably the ferris wheel, even though I have bittersweet associations with it.
What’s your highest level of education? Some college.
What do you do for work? Sigh I still don't do anything, but I promise you I'm still looking very regularly on job-hunting websites. I know I'm being picky with it, but I have to be; I can't get a fourth job that's only gonna last three fuckin' days, I can't do that shit again, because I genuinely don't think I'll emotionally build up the courage to job hunt again and risk humiliating myself once more. I'll find something, eventually. In the meantime I'm still taking pictures...
How many countries have you been to? I've never left the USA. :/ One day I fucking will, I've got to man, I've got one visit on Earth that I know about and I wanna explore it, I can't only stay on the east coast of this crappy country my whole life.
What’s on your top five to travel to next list? It depends. I feel like my honeymoon is going to be my first real travel destination, which would be amazing if it could be somewhere in Alaska to see the Northern Lights well or Venice, Italy. Germany is a goal one day, but my #1 goal overall is South Africa one day to visit the Kalahari Meerkat Project. I'd also love to visit Ireland.
Do you like board games? I don't really, but I can enjoy them with other people every now and again.
Card games? I've found that I enjoy the sorts like Magic: The Gathering.
Are you afraid of cats? No, not at all.
Have you ever punched someone? No.
Apples or bananas? Apples.
Punk or metal? Metal, but like the last question, I enjoy both.
What’s your favorite flavor of soda, pop, or whatever else you call it? Usually strawberry.
What level of brightness do you usually keep your phone at? So during the day I keep it between 60-70%, I kinda just click that general area, but during the night, I turn it all the way to 0% so I don't burn my eyes out if I check the time during the night.
What time do you usually have dinner? It's usually somewhere 'round 5:30-6:00.
Do you need glasses to read or drive or need them all the time? I wear them all the time, except for obviously when I sleep.
What’s the best amusement park you’ve ever visited? I'm sure it's Disney World, I went as a very young kid, but my memories of it are faint. I know I had a blast, though.
Have you ever had a romantic fling? No, flings are not for me.
Are you a very forgetful person? Yes, my memory (particularly short-term) is just pure appalling for a 27-year-old, like I struggle SO BADLY to internalize information, whether it's important or not.
Are you in love? For sure.
Dream job? Successful wildlife/landscape/general nature photographer.
Are you an affectionate person? Yes, extremely.
You’re traveling the entire world but you can only take one person with you. Who do you take? I'd have to see what Girt thinks about this; I'd want him, but he's a major homebody and actually doesn't really like traveling, so the WHOLE world? I'm sure he'd get tired of it pretty fast. If he didn't want to come, I'd be very apprehensive about separating from him for so long anyway, but for the sake of the question I'd go with Mom, she'd fuckin love it.

Hi! I know you've received tons of vol 3 comments but I noticed a few people confused about the film and Gamora's role. After watching it 3 times I think I figured out what's going on and thought it might help other people.
In vol 1 to IW Gamora is a leading character pretty equal to Peter and then you also have Rocket. You'll notice they are the only 3 guardians we get to see childhood backgrounds for. In vol 1 Gamora is particularly important because the information she has and her adherence to wanting to do the right thing once given the opportunity, help drive the story forward and lay the foundation for what's kind of the moral backbone of the team. In IW her relationship with Thanos is pivotal to the story being told and a lot of it is framed around her thoughts and feelings and even some of her choices. That is until she dies at which point everything changes. From then on the main focus for her character is the impact of her death on Peter and Nebula. They are the ones from here on out we get any major exploration of when it comes to her dying and what her life meant. This is particularly evident in EG with Nebula and Gamora's relationship being an important aspect of the time travel and how it's made clear their relationship needs to continue regardless of what happened with Thanos. Then in vol 3 we get a similar scenario with Peter having to deal with his grief while also forming a new understanding of who Gamora currently is. With Gamora having to find a way to understand him and what her future self had been a part of. What they meant and can still mean to eachother is important regardless of what happened with Thanos.
This direction isn't necessarily terrible but it's also not great, because what it does do is take Gamora out of the specific leading role she used to have and instead of shaping the story, she's now connected to it predominantly through her relationship to Peter and Nebula. This puts her emotionally more in the position of Yondu where he predominantly connected through the continuation of his relationship with Peter. This isn't a bad role but it is a downgrade of sorts and it doesn't allow for the full exploration of the aftermath of what was honestly a pretty terrible choice to kill her off in service of Thanos. It also means having a less consistent theme about abuse that's been imbeded in gotg from the start. Plus it left no room for any discussion of what happened after the snap, which I understand Gunn wanting a story that's independent from the wider mcu but reality is you can't have that when team up movies happen and canon intersects. It makes for weaker writing. I saw someone ask him if Rocket was still friends with Thor and he said no. It's funny but also points to the fact that there is no way 5 years led to no differences in relationships for Nebula and Rocket. I can't believe they don't have any other friends or interests. The aftermath of Endgame is also ignored which is really bad writing. The team wasn't going to pop back together problem free after all that turmoil
Basically with vol 3 we see the two most important relationships for Gamora highlighted, especially when it comes to Peter which is awesome. We see her come to understand the team and begin to have a bond. It's also wonderful she gets a moment with Groot at the end because she was like a mom to him. But outside of that not much else about IW and EG gets any closure. More for Gamora but ultimately everyone. So vol 3 is good but changes in story and character structure as well as ignoring important parts of canon leave some holes.
yeah, my stan blinders aside, sidelining gamora from the lead role she originally had makes the whole narrative a bit wonky in vol 3, which i think is part of the issue.

I'm bored so I'll be answering most of these. The ones I leave out are mostly because I didn't have an answer/didn't know how to answer.
General/Movie
1 - I actually just randomly found it on Netflix, read the summary and thought "Why not, I got nothing better to do." Best choice of my life.
2 - Almost nothing. I wasn't even aware the knights were going to be gay, but that was a welcomed surprise. And also I preferred knowing basically nothing because it made everything so much better (although I wasn't expecting the ending and ended up sobbing my heart out)
3 - No answer
4 - Ambrosius. I relate to him a lot
5 - Diego the Squire. He's funny.
6 - Ambrosius. The pressure of the expectations is my main reason honestly.
7 - The fight at the Institute after Ambrosius turned a sword on Bal
8 - Their otter form! It may or may not be because of the knight who got bitten by an otter and his friends who really likes otters
9 - A sea bunny slug!
10 - The whole "Kidnapping the Squire with a demon baby, everything goes wrong and we hijack a car" scene
11 - The ending when Ballister stops Nimona from killing themselves all the way to the end. I was crying through all of that.
12 - I'm torn between "Arm-chopping is not a love language!" and the Squire saying "Let me go ahead and pass this problem onto someone else." Because I would probably do the same thing.
13 - No answer
14 - I tend to use she/her a lot because that is what is used in the movie, but I prefer using they/them
15 - I think Nimona's just been around for an undisclosed amount of time, though I do like the idea that Gloreth was their first interactions with humans (which went horribly wrong) and they've just been hiding amongst them since then
16 - I like to think Ambrosius wasn't too happy with Ballister coming into the Institute at first, because as kind as he may be, he was probably taught from a young age that only nobles were allowed to be knights, so you can't really blame him
17 - At first, Ambrosius saw how quickly Bal learnt and was just happy to finally have a challenge. Then it just escalates from classmates, to friends, to best friends, to crushes, to lovers
18 - At least a month. It takes time for wounds to heal, and for a prosthetic to be to be attached? A month. Bal also needed time to build it, and I doubt he had the energy for it while his shoulder was healing, so I'm I think like a month a half
19 - A year minimum. Amb and Bal seem to be perfectly fine with each other, and there is no way their problems we're all sorted out in a few measly weeks. Also, the damage to the city is completely gone and the hole in the wall seems to have been "fixed" as in the edges are now clean and it looks like it's supposed to be there, contrary to the shambles of stone we see right after the smoke clears, so definitely a year, if not two
20 - Either it got completely revoked or it was changed into something better
21 - Arguing. A lot of it. Over Bal, over his arm, over trust, over betrayal, over everything, until Bal comes home one day expecting to be greeted with arguing a maybe a destroyed vase, but instead they're sitting and watching a movie, and when he asks all they say is "We talked" and refuse to elaborate further. From then on it's just playful banter and although he's confused, Bal is just glad they're not arguing anymore
22 - No answer
23 - I always thought "I hate u, I love u" by Gnash and Olivia O'Brien was kinda Goldenheart movie. Like some lines just make me think about them. An example is "You're still in love with me but your friends don't know" Ambrosius is still in love with Bal, but the other knights don't know
24 - Depends on the situation
25 - I don't have any
26 - Never tried it so I don't have one
27 - Luckily, no
28 - No idea
29 - I loved it and I shall continue hyper fixating on it for a while
Comic/Graphic Novel
30 - I have done both, but I didn't really click with the comic
31 - I watched the movie first. I recommend reading the comic first though, because I think the reason I didn't click with it is that I was still caught up on my "Good ending" idea and therefor didn't really enjoy it as much as I would've having read the comic first. If you see the movie after, it's kinda like a little comforting treat after a Hurt/Comfort ending (that's how I see it at least)
32 - No idea
33 - No sadly. I joined Tumblr pretty late
34 - The bank heist
35 - Meredith Blitzmeyer my beloved
36 - Purple hair
37 - I doubt it. In the comic, Nimona proved they were someone to be feared, and so them and Ballister reuniting could've caused trouble for everyone
38 - No answer
39 - Comic Nimona is a crazy gremlin who isn't afraid to kill to prove their point, but really they just wants someone to be her friend. Movie Nimona acts murderous, but in reality they're just sad and look for comfort in people who they think might accept them. So same but different.
40 - Comic Ballister isn't afraid to step in the role of villain if he's left with no choice, but he still has morals that he keeps up, but he doesn't believe in the Institution after being put aside. Movie Ballister is afraid to step even a toe out of line and still believes in the Institution despite a bunch of proof that it's shitty being shoved in his face. In the end, they're both nerdy nerds.
41 - Comic Ambrosius is an asshole who doesn't fully realize he's an asshole and Movie Ambrosius would gladly punch the shit out of him.
42 - C!Ambrosius would think that M!Ballister is pathetic and weak. M!Ballister would be horrified by the fact that C!Ambrosius is like Todd.
43 - M!Ambrosius would think that C!Ballister is odd and a lot broodier than what he's used to. C!Ballister would be confused by how soft and kind M!Ambrosius is.
44 - I liked the more forward approach with Bal and Amb being openly gay and Nimona's description of shapeshifting being a trans allegory
45 - I liked that the Institute wasn't just "Bloodlines are important" and we got actual representation of how shitty it is
46 - Meredith Blitzmeyer
47 - My idea is that she's an old friend of Bal's and helped him out when he was in the streets. She could've helped him build his prosthetic and then kinda just contribute to his and Nimona's plans of taking down the Institute.
48 - It's good in it's own way that's different than the movie, and although it was fun to read certain parts and watch the art grow, it wasn't really my kind of thing
Fanworks
49 - The series How Familiar the Danger by LiterallyThePresident
50 - This one by @ren-nolasco on Tumblr
51 - My favorite ones are the Fix-It ones that take place at the end of the movie and explore how Bal and Amb fixed their relationship and how it was after Nimona came back
52 - Ballister/Ambrosius is a classic but I do like reading about Ambrosius and Nimona
53 - I don't have an answer
54 - Found family or modern Goldenheart + adopted Nimona is always good!
55 - Nimona in her child form! I don't see enough of it!
56 - I've already talked about this, but basically an AU where there are more shapeshifters and they're used as pets kinda. Bal still gets framed for an attack on the Queen, except Nimona is involved in it this time and there are a lot more shape shifters. I talk about it more here.
57 - I have! I wrote a fic on Ao3 called Shifting our Worldview! There's only one part currently, but I'm working on the second one!
58 - The Director! She may be cruel, but that doesn't make her character any less interesting, and it's fun going over her scenes and trying to figure how she'd act in certain situations
59 - The Director again. She's a complicated character who keeps her calm most of the time, but is occasionally seen losing her cool, and it can be a struggle to figure out if how I wrote her is accurate to her character at least a little bit
60 - I have a Goldenheart oneshot that I've been working for a long while! The original idea is by @juicyreptile this post. I should be posting it soon though!
61 - Advice and/or ideas for certain fics are always appreciated, and I do try to take most of it into consideration into when writing! So if you have an idea, don't be afraid to give me an ask or message me!
