author’s note: happy december? no, angsty december. this particular one shot is a little personal for me because it’s based off a final conversation i had with someone who i essentially let have hold of my heart for far too long and finally had the strength to let go of them a few months ago. he’s like jake gyllenhaal minus the age gap. i say this because he gave me the ability to relate to the moment i knew aka not being there for my 21st birthday! insane! i did however make it less personal by giving it some how i met your mother vibes, but there’s still inklings of my personal life in it. writing helps me heal and express my feelings in a way that i’m comfortable with, so i feel good writing this as part of my healing journey? corny to use fanfiction for healing, but to each their own. sorry if this is too angsty, but imagine how my life has been LMAO. anyway, big shoutout to my friend @toorubobatea for beta reading this. i really wanted her to read it before i posted it, so thank you queen!! and now i hope you guys can enjoy it just like she did! mwah! and i’m tagging @jeanboyjean since she so kindly asked me to <3

you knew that the day you met eren yeager, your life would never be the same, but my god, did it your life turn upside down. pulled in so many different directions you couldn’t tell what was left or right anymore. you felt like you were losing yourself in the process, but you wanted more of him like you wanted to breathe air.

it was always a mistake. one beautiful, soul-crushing mistake. he’d lead you on with mixed signals and uncertainty, but you lived for the thrill because it was the only interesting thing going on in your life. it’s “for the plot”, as you’d always say. even if your friends told you a million times he was bad news and you would only get hurt in the end, you didn’t care.

he was just your friend, that’s what you two always claimed; just friends, but you always sensed a hint of a lie in those words. you couldn’t be just friends. not when he remembered everything you said down to what you had for lunch last week or that time your mother fainted as she watched you get stitches for the first time as a kid. not when he spoke to you everyday like clockwork, a routine that seemed to come easy. how could you ever be just friends? how could it not be more?

you were inevitably in love with eren yeager, and it crushed you when you realized he never once had those feelings for you. not only that, but he was in love with someone else; mikasa ackerman, his best friend since childhood. it all made perfect sense, and you wished you never met him in the first place. but even then, you couldn’t keep yourself away from him. as long as he didn’t know of your feelings, everything would be fine, right? oh, how you were so, so wrong.

you tortured yourself every time you spoke to him. you listened to him as he pined for mikasa, too scared to admit his feelings to her. of course you knew what it was like to be in that position, the one you wanted was sitting right in front of you and he didn’t seem to have a clue. it frustrated you so much, but even so, you’d rather have something instead of nothing with him. such a sad way to feel, such a sad way to live when you think about it now. always the artist, never the muse. constantly crafting for others, nothing ever created just for you.

you’d push those feelings deep down into the darkest pit of your heart, but no matter how hard you tried, it would all come back every time you saw his face or even thought of him. those thoughts of maybe if you were prettier, funnier, and just overall better plagued your mind, but you had to shake them away. one day, you knew, you’d ultimately become fed up and blow up about it. it was the only way you knew how, the only way you could be free.

so now here you were, sitting at your usual booth in your favorite bar—assuming it may no longer be yours after tonight—waiting for eren to arrive so you could talk. you assumed he could sense your seriousness and urgency when you texted him, but you figured so be it. one way or another, you’d do this.

he arrived like you expected. you refused to let him make you second guess yourself, so you kept your cool and acted as normal before you dropped the bomb on him. besides, the shot you took before he showed up was quite the help, plus the drink you swirled around in its glass now.

eren walked over to the bar to grab a drink before heading over to the booth, expecting you to stand up and greet him with a hug like always, but you remained in your seat, clutching your drink in your hands.

“hey, i got your text.” he said as he sat down across from you.

“i see that.” you reply. he noticed you were acting different, not like the y/n he knew. it was obvious you had something on your mind, and since he knew you so well, eren could sense you were going to spill your guts about something.

“what’s up? is something wrong?” eren asked. this was it.

“i just.” you pause. oh god, you were really doing this. “i just wanted to say that i’m done with whatever this is.”

he’s silent, he doesn’t know what to say. you feel like the words are all coming out like vomit. you almost wish you were spewing real vomit right now, but you weren’t quite drunk enough for that. you had to get through this hellish conversation first, at least.

“i’m done. i’m not going to make a fool out of myself anymore. i’m done trying. i’m giving up.” you say, tears threatening to stream down your face, but you fight them away. “i’m done exhausting myself of trying to be something i’ll never be because deep down i know i’ll never be yours.”

eren should’ve seen this coming. all those times you fell silent when he ranted to you about his love problems. you always wanted to scream in his face about how the one person in this world that actually wanted him was always right there, that it was you. even so, he could never give you what you wanted, and he felt like the worst person in the world because of it.

you wait for him to speak, but he doesn’t say anything. if this was going to be your final conversation, he might as well say something. “well, speak now or forever hold your peace because i’m clearly not holding mine.”

“i mean, it’s just not what i was expecting to hear.” eren finally spoke. “i’m just shocked.”

“trust me, i never expected to say it either, but if i’ve learned anything, it’s that i care too much.” you tearfully admit. “too much about you when i know where your heart belongs and it’s not with me.”

“i’m sorry, y/n. i never meant for things to get like this.” he said with sincerity, although you wondered if it was all a lie. “and you must know that there was never any hostile intentions behind any of my actions.”

“that’s funny. it always seemed like there was.” you looked down at your drink, quickly moving your gaze back to him as he spoke once more.

“no, you…” eren paused, trying to put the words together in the best way he could. even if he didn’t seem like it, he did care someway, somehow. “you’ve been there for me when i needed someone most and i’m really, really grateful for that, but i can’t give you what you want, and i’ve been unfair to you as a result. i’m sorry.”

huh. this really wasn’t what you were expecting. where’s the insults? where’s the twisting of your words? why is he actually being apologetic and taking accountability? you wanted to say this was crazy, but this is eren you’re talking about. you always knew he was too good. too good to ever be yours, even.

“you know, this is usually the part where you flip out and make it all my fault instead by calling me delusional and crazy.” you force a laugh. might as well laugh through the pain, right?

“i’m not gonna flip out.” eren said.

“why?” you question him.

“because i know i’ve done wrong by you.” he replied.

“well, that’s a shock.” you take a sip of your drink, tempted to chug it, but eren’s words shocked you into stopping the liquid from going past your lips.

“it shouldn’t have to be, y/n.” he frowned. “you deserve someone who won’t weigh you down. you deserve to move on, even if it’s not flattering for me.”

you set down your drink as you let out a sigh and briefly cover your face, rubbing your eyes before showing yourself once more. “i hate that you’re being so nice about this. i was expecting to yell at you or something.”

“do you want to?” eren asked you.

as much as past you would have loved to, you didn’t have the energy to be bitter anymore. “no… i’m okay. this is better.”

“you sure?”

“yeah, positive.” you say, followed by silence. there wasn’t much for you to say anymore, and you couldn’t beat on this dead horse any longer. it was time to finally say goodbye, no matter how much it pained you to do so. “um, i guess we should just end this here, huh?”

“yeah, guess so.” he looked away. this hurt eren too, but you both knew this was for the best. you’ll be thankful later down the road.

“would it be totally wrong to sneak in a taylor swift quote right now?” you ask, almost immediately regretting the question.

“no, go for it.”

“eh, maybe not. too corny.” you thought it would be best to keep those words to yourself. besides, it was too hard to pin it down to just one thing. he was worth a hundred songs, ones you may never listen to the same way, but that’s okay.

“she’s a wise, wise woman, you know.” eren said, a grin slowly creeping up on his face, despite the circumstances.

“yeah, she is.” you softly smile. at least you could end this on a little good note.

“goodbye, y/n. i wish you the best in everything.”

“goodbye, eren. i really hope you get her someday.”

and with that, you placed a twenty dollar bill on the table and left the bar, no longer claiming it as your favorite and leaving it to eren, along with your favorite place to sit. like with everything else in life, nothing lasts forever, nothing stays the same, and that’s okay. you knew that now.

it was such a strange feeling, having this weight lifted off your shoulders. you had been burdened with this boulder for so long you forgot what it felt like to be weightless. you were finally clean of eren yeager, light as a feather, but most importantly, happy, and freeing yourself of such delusions was the greatest gift you could ever receive.

HOW HE COMFORTS HIS DAUGHTER. . .

✫ a/n: i have a soft spot for the boys w little girls :( this is also dedicated to @atsumiye for obvious reasons.

✫ OIKAWA comes home to his daughter in tears. through her sniffles, he learns that boys at school were mocking her because they found out that she had a crush on someone in her class. and as she tucked her entire body under her favorite lavender blankets, sobs shook through her body. tooru's heart shattered. there was nothing worse than hearing the sound of her crying. even when she was younger, just an infant, her tears pained him and made him feel helpless. "boys suck, you know?" he starts. he doesn't know if now's the time to joke around, but he hears a small puff leave her mouth. "princess?" he asks again. his hand reaches for her shaking body, hoping to provide some comfort, but her little voice stops him. "you don't suck. just them. they're mean." and with a soft smile, he nods his head. he stays with her, kissing her head atop the blanket until she's ready to come out. and when she does, he pulls her into a hug. if he knows anything about parenting, it's how to make his precious girl feel utterly safe and loved.

✫ ATSUMU feels his heart drop as his daughter tells him that she felt lonely at school today, that no one wanted to play with her during recess. he knows that feeling all too well. he picks her up, tossing her into the air as little giggles leave her mouth. he knows that she tries so hard to put on a tough face even when she's upset, but he sees the sadness in her eyes. "how about we go to uncle samu's so you can play with your cousins? they always wanna play with you, don't they, angel?" to this, she nods excitedly. her cousins are younger than her and always follow her around, making her feel important and loved. atsumu knows that he'd do anything to put a smile on her face, even if it means going to samu's and hearing him yap about how his twins are already drawn to volleyball at such a young age. and even though his daughter isn't into his favorite things, atsumu is positive that his girl will grow up to be the most passionate and caring person out there — she's just like her dad.

✫ SAKUSA can't believe what he's hearing when his little girl tells him kids at school were making fun of her curly hair. the hair that he puts so much effort into styling every morning, adding bows and clips to her satisfaction. "your hair is beautiful, angel. it looks just like mine. don't you like mine?" he asks her. maybe she'll feel better if she doesn't feel so different than everyone else. "yeah," she nods, rubbing at her teary eyes. "then you should like yours, too." honestly, sometimes sakusa thinks he's too blunt with her, but his lack of words are replaced with loving actions. that night, after her hair is freshly washed, he takes the time to comb through her hair and define each curl, twirling it around his finger. he puts her hair into two braids, just how she likes, and tells her that she should never feel as if she isn't beautiful. and he knows that she's too young to know about self-confidence, so he presses kiss after kiss to her cheeks until the two of them are looking at each other with gentle, knowing smiles.

✫ AKAASHI worries when he picks his daughter up from school just to find her walking towards him with a little limp. three hello kitty band-aids cover her leg (which he knows she picked out. hello kitty is her current obsession). "what happened, love?" he asks, trying not to let the panic reach his voice. opening up his arms for her, he lifts her off the ground so she doesn't have to walk on her injured leg. "don't be mad, daddy, i just wanted to jump off the swings like the other kids," she says, voice quiet. he nods, patting her back. when they get home, he sits her down on her bed to take care of her wounds. keiji replaces her old band-aids with new ones after wiping down the scratches left by the pavement, rubbing her back as sniffles continue to leave her. she feels sorry for disappointing her dad. why isn't he yelling at her? why isn't he telling her that she shouldn't do things like that? "it's okay, my love. you're okay," he tells her. there's a little smile on his face, but she knows he's upset. "i'm sorry," she apologizes. keiji simply shushes her with a little shake of his head and kisses her band-aids like he used to do for her when she was younger. "just be more careful, okay?" she nods and wraps her arms around his neck to pull him into a tight hug.

✫ IWAIZUMI feels his anger rise when his daughter tells him that her friends didn't share the class toys during play time. "i'll buy you some," he tells her right away, even though he knows that it won't fix the problem. and although a smile spreads on her face, hajime doesn't like the idea of his daughter not being able to play with the toys with everyone else. "man, they need to teach those kids some manners," he grumbles, patting her head as she nods along to his words. after dinner, hajime sits down with her on the carpeted floor of their living room. her toys are thrown across the floor and her laughter fills his ears. they spend hours creating an intricate storyline, using fun voices, and fueling her imagination. hajime feels warmth in his chest when she tells him that she likes playing with him more than with her classmates. and although he feels happy that he could make her smile and laugh, nothing stops him from going to her teacher the next day to explain the situation (oh-so kindly) to her.

mikhail doesn't like vacation all that much because he likes to keep himself busy with useful things but if he also has some downtime with the people he loves then it is Perfect <3 he's not one to nap a lot but he likes to hold others while they nap. he is The perfect body pillow. and he likes doing his own things in the presence of others so just. being with other people would be his ideal vacation basically

mikhail has never forgotten about his final night with vitali before they both went their separate ways for uni/college. i need to. figure out the detes for this still but it's still so fresh in his brain. he wanted to kiss vitali there but he didn't do it and he still isn't sure what to do with all of that

oh hii ok i haven't finished watching it yet but these are my favorite so far (in no particular order (for the most part))! it's gonna be pretty long so i'll continue under the cut 😳

1. and when the sky was opened (s1e11)

truly my favorite twilight zone episode of all time! the plot and characters are very well written (it's based on the short story "disappearing act" by richard matheson) and also the acting is really good too like the emotions are so vibrant and effective and real just wowzers. there's this one part where the look on the guy's face is just so haunting and idk it really sticks with me. also the actors 👀👀👀 i think everyone in the 50s/60s was just really attractive but yeah. also it's #relatable but in a sad way 😔 and it makes me cry so overall 5386464/10 very good highly recommend!

2. mirror image (s1e21)

SUCH a great episode. the directing, the attention to detail, the atmosphere just mkaes it so interesting and thrilling to watch. it made me audibly gasp so much bc it's frightening. also the ending is just. wow. wow. great episode.

3. the after hours (s1e34)

omg hi good cool episode !!!!!! right? wrong!!!!!! the directing in this episode makes it ABSOLUTELY FUCKING TERRIFYING to watch!!!!!!!!!! as if mannequins aren't scary enough on their own. i love the vibe of department stores in the 50s (i really wanna live during that time period!) and the atmosphere that's created is bonechilling and eerie. very very good episode bc it feels like a fever dream and as you will see most of the episodes on this list are ones where it feels like you're losing your mind and i love that. it also does a good job of like putting the audience in the shoes of the main character.

4. perchance to dream (s1e9)

another terrifying episode? more likely than you think. this episode is a WILD RIDE (haha pun) and is the definition of a fever dream. the directing is so so so good and perfectly captures what a nightmare can feel like and it's exhilarating to watch bc it is also extremely terrifying. i once watched it to try to scare myself to sleep so i could have a nightmare just to feel something (it didn't work😔). OH YEAH ALSO THE TWIST AT THE END it spins your head i honestly didn't even see it coming WOW

5. twenty two (s2e17)

another fever dream episode!!!!!!!! so cool the directing is wow and the setting is even more wow and theres so much tension in it and the ending i wasnt expecting it at all! very solid episode perfectly crafted

6. walking distance (s1e5)

this episode made me sob so hard! it's about like growing up and revisiting your childhood and it's so tender and sad but there's a good lesson ig idc. it's #powerful and i thoroughly enjoy it but it's also painful to watch bc it is TOO RELATABLE

7. where is everybody? (s1e1)

genuinely the best pilot episode for any series that i've ever seen. it's so memorable and right off the bat makes the audience feel like they're going insane bc they don't know what the fuck is going on. this episode sets a VERY good precedent for what the rest of the show is gonna look/be like. very good one ! oh yes plot the plot was good and so was the directing but a little anticlimactic i think but whatevs.

8. two (s3e1)

this episode is so <3333333333333333 i think it's a good first episode for s3 bc honestly it gets worse ngl. it seems kinda pointless but the ending is nice and honestly it's pretty much everything i wanna see on a screen like a woman with a gun in an army uniform? are you serious?? sign me up pls 🤲🏽🤲🏽🤲🏽

9. nick of time (s2e7)

stereotypical predicting the future type episode but i really like it bc of the vibe. you know it's the 60s where there's diners and jukeboxes and milkshakes! i mean yes we have those things today but it just hits different in this episode just the vibe is chef kiss very very neat and nice and also the couple in it is really attractive. oh yeah i still like the plot tho and like what it means from a human pov like do you let a machine control your life or do you make those decisions by yourself and agree to face the conseqeunces? very neat i think ! it reminds me of the summertime that's the vibe of it i really wanna live during that time period.

10. the purple testament (s1e19)

literally everyone in this episode is SO HOT 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 god. the plot is good too but it's pretty predictable but the concept is really cool and well written and ofc the ending is also predictable but whatever !

11. a hundred yards over the rim (s2e23)

very cool episode i love the whole cowboy / western vibe i know 🤚🏽 those were dangerous and not optimal times ok but seriously the drip and the whole saloons and small town stuff? can we bring that back pls and thank you xoxo but yeah this episode is cool and it has a very empty feel to it and it makes you feel like a stranger i do like it a lot

12. showdown with rance mcgrew (s3e20)

oh i really like this one !! it's one of the only episodes i think that's like comedic on purpose. like the main character (the one in the cowboy hat) is so stupid and the way his character is written is mwah im blowing a kiss to the sky for him as we speak. the plot is alright it's like the redundant time travel so whatevs but i like this one bc it's funny:) i think after s1 the show went downhill bc u can see that they were running out of ideas so yeah. season 1 really had no reason to go that hard but it did!!

13. to serve man (s3e24)

oh yes this episode is short and sweet and gets straight to the point which i really appreciate<3 just the vibe of it is very very good and there's nothing like a great twist to top it all off! solid episode 10/10 also the girl in it is really pretty

14. the night of the meek (s2e11)

this! one!! it is SO sweet and actually has a good ending and it made me cry and it's so pure and happy and nice and christmas and i love christmas and i love this episode

15. judgement night (s1e10)

i love the trope of "one person realizes something is very very wrong in their world and they try to explain it to others but no one believes them making the main character feel like they're going crazy!" i would say this episode is haunting i don't remember like the specifics but i just remember watching it for the first time and just being like speechless and sad. the plot is very nice too and like the thought of eternal terror makes me very uncomfortable which was probs this episodes goal so good job !

Teen Wolf AUs That Need to Get Out of My Fucking Brain & Onto the Internet

Part 1 | Clue AU

Hi, what’s up? How are you? I’m doing okay—well, no, actually. To be really fucking honest, I’m suffering from too many fic ideas and my brain’s about to leak out of my nose. In short, I’m running out of Brain-Data to store all of my fanfic ideas, so I’ve decided to outsource them to the internet so that I can just move on. I might actually end up writing them. I might not. You, dear reader, might write something (and then you’re obligated to post a link so I can read it instead of doing Important Real Life Things).

*cracks knuckles* Let’s goooooo. Warning: Clue movie spoilers ahead.

One of my favorite cult-classics is the 1985 film Clue. Never heard of it? I’m so sorry for your loss.

To keep it short and sweet, this movie is a tongue-in-cheek whodunnit that is based on the mystery board game “Clue.” Never heard of it? I’m so sorry for your childhood in general (seriously who raised you I need to have words). The acting is over-the-top and the script is wall-to-wall sass.

The basic plot is structured around a cast of characters, all given pseudonyms, who are invited by their mysterious blackmailer to a dinner party at an old mansion. Revelations and half-truths are revealed and then the lights go out, a shot goes off, and then there’s a dead body on the floor—specifically, Mr. Boddy (yeah, that’s his fucking name, guys). Now it’s up to everyone else to figure out what the hell happened.

This setting is just *MWAH* perfect for Teen Wolf. A group of reluctant strangers coming together to solve a problem? Yeah, not a real thematic stretch by any imagination.

But here’s where it gets fun: casting the characters and deciding on an outcome. There’s no romance in this storyline, so it’s a perfect AU for those who just want to shove Teen Wolf characters into different situations and watch them run with it. It’s entirely up to you who is who and who does what (except right now, in this post, where it’s up to ME). So, if you don’t mind if I do...

Wadsworth. Peter fucking Hale. The mastermind behind it all, blackmailing people basically because he can and he wants to. Peter likes power, Wadsworth has it. It’s perfect.

Favorite movie quote: “I’m merely a humble butler.” / “What is it that you do?” / “I buttle, sir.”

Mrs. Peacock. Victoria Argent. She’s not really a central character in a lot of fics (stone-cold bitch is a very specific flavor, and not well-liked). Regardless, I’d love to see her as the slightly manic Mrs. Peacock, powerful wife to a powerful man (Lady MacBeth ringing any bells??) who’s being blackmailed for taking bribes. I think she’d give the character more umph, which if you’ve seen the movie, is something Mrs. Peacock could use a little more of.

Favorite movie quote: “What are you afraid of, a fate worse than death?” / “No, just death. Isn’t that enough?”

Colonel Mustard. Dr. Deaton. Both characters play things close to the vest. Mustard is a conservative older veteran. Dr. Deaton’s seen some shit. Both are verbally challenged but get flustered under certain circumstances. I think Deaton would give the Colonel a better ratio of thoughtfulness to bluster—balance, if you will (yes I fucking went there don’t you look at me like that).

Favorite movie quote: “Just checking.” / “Everything all right?” / “Yep, two corpses, everything’s fine.”

Mrs. White. Lydia Martin. Ironically enough, Mrs. White is the Black Widow of The gang. And who knows the use (or lack thereof) of a man better than Lydia Martin? Seriously, I could see her growing bored and slipping a little somin’-somin’ into Hubby #3’s organic and cruelty-free chicken noodle soup.

Favorite movie quote: “Husbands should be like Kleenex: soft, strong, and disposable.”

Professor Plum. Scott McCall. Good intentions and bad execution? Oh, yeah. However you feel about Scott, neutral like me or in one of the factions, you gotta admit he’s lovable but really needs to sort out his priorities. Like the Prof, he thinks a little too much with his heart (and his dick, don’t forget that). Scott would make Plum more likeable, and Plum’s character would make Scott smarter. Win-win. (Also the image of Scott wearing glasses and a bow tie and smoking a pipe is a top-tier idea).

My favorite movie quote: “So wait a minute. Who did I kill!?” / “My butler.” / “Aw, shucks.”

Miss Scarlet. Erica Reyes. Both women find power in using their sexuality to their advantage. Erica would bring the character a little more vulnerability, and Scarlet would make Erica more confident (rather than blindly arrogant). Mash these two together and you get a femme fatale for the ages!

My favorite movie quote: “Not me.” / “You’re not being blackmailed?!” / “Oh, I’m being blackmailed all right, but I did what I’m being blackmailed for.”

Mr. Green. Stiles Stilinski. Who else? The secret undercover FBI agent whose entire plot device was one big “no homo”?? Stiles would be an interesting choice because Mr. Green is the least talkative of the group and ends up being the butt of jokes instead of the asshole who instigates them. I think it’d be a delightful character study and no one will change my mind.

My favorite movie quote: “Are you a cop?” / “No, I’m a plant.” / “A plant? I thought men like you were usually called a fruit.” / “Ha ha, very funny. FBI.”

I’d go balls to the wall with this AU, make the murder convoluted as shit and confuse everyone just for the fun of it. That’s basically the entire premise of the film, so go wild or go home. No pairings, no real violence, just a bunch of Teen Wolf hijinks.
