Happy Friday everyone!! It's a super special one today, as it marks the END OF YEAR FIVE OF WEEKLY FIVE FICS FRIDAY POSTS!!!

SIGNAL BOOSTING

Debris by Monkeysock (M, 15,094 w., 14 Ch. || First Person POV Alternating, Case Fic, Sherlock Whump, Flashbacks, Guilt, Waiting, Hospital, Angst) –Sherlock becomes trapped under a load of debris when a building collapses on top of him. He waits for rescue. Everyone is different, they only know what they know. In the aftermath, everybody has a story to tell.

Little Slices of Death by Enterthetadpole (E, 994 w., 1 Ch. || Friends To Lovers, Horror, Humour, Happy Ending, Case Fic, Romance) – Sherlock Holmes gets involved in a case where the victims and crimes that are eerily similar to the works of a certain horror author stories. Will he solve the case before the people around him die around him?

I Meet You There, and We Go by irisbleufic (E, 6,370 w., 4 Ch. || Alternate Universe || Aftermath of TGG Pool Scene, Grief/Mourning, Supernatural Elements, Established Relationship, PTSD, Neurodiversity, Disability, Character Death) – "I dream of what it's like," [Sherlock] says with difficulty, and the words taste right in spite of the fact that everything else tastes wrong, "when we leave this place." John is quiet for an unbearably long while (too quiet: no humming, no breath) before he lets his forehead drop to rest against Sherlock's, smudge of ash and grit and sweat mixed with something far too heavy to be tears. He presses one hand over Sherlock's heart, and there's warmth again. The promise dazzles him. It stings. "What's it like?" asks John, finally, his voice thick with the promise of rest.

The Scientific Method by NovaWasTaken1 (T, 11,883 w., 1 Ch. || THoB Divergence, Doctor John, Non-Consensual Drug Use, Headaches / Migraines, Sick Sherlock) – Dosing former drug addict Sherlock Holmes turns out to be just a little more complicated than an aerosol spray. An AU of Hounds of the Baskervilles, in which Sherlock's reaction to being drugged winds up being a little more than an anxiety attack.

Secondary Exposure by thesardine (T, 18,841 w., 7 Ch. || Whump, Tags to Be Added) – After twenty years, the killer who abducted John as a child has resurfaced. Now John and Sherlock must track him down before he claims another victim, and at the same time navigate the shifting nature of their relationship.

When I first started reading this I didn't think it would make me cry so hard I had to sneak out of bed so I didn't wake my partner up or that I would wake up after a brief break to sleep to finish it and be sobbing over shrinkidinks but oh my fucking god. I cried about the shrinkidinks.

Anyway. A Winter Soldier recovery fic mixed in with some agents of shield. Bucky is childish and very vulnerable and reclaiming agency in a way that completely disarmed me.

Alphabet

Every day, three times daily, food is delivered on a plastic tray, with a sodden vegetable, a dry or drowning slab of meat, and either potatoes, corn, or a bread roll, and a candy. The candies come in thin foil or plastic wrappers, with names like “Twix” or “Twizzler” or “M&M.” The soldier doesn’t eat these. He pinches them gently between his fingers, first flesh, then metal, feeling the crinkle of the wrapper, testing the texture of the treat inside. “M&M” is hard little bullets. “Twix” is two separate slabs, firm on one side, soft on the other. “Twizzler” is springy, like a fingertip. Sometimes a “Payday” or a “Butterfinger” comes in a wrapper like an air-filled pillow, and the candy rattles gently inside, but the soldier can’t pinch it without popping the pillow, so he doesn’t know their texture. He keeps all his candies on the far side of his bed, away from the window. Some day someone will come in and take them away, but for now they are his treasure. He doesn’t know when he began to think of them that way, or even when he began to save them. Sometimes he can’t remember things. It’s better that way, for the most part.

Fever: The Temper Between by Phyona (26K, M, Johnlock) Sherlock and John catch a fever.

Nightmares: I'll Follow You Into the Dark by fearfully_beautifully_made (19K, E, Johnlock) Four times that one of the boys wake each other up from a Nightmare and one time when it is not a Nightmare. ;)

Stranded/Lost: Evidence of Human Life by thesardine (16K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock's sanity deteriorates while he and John are stranded on a deserted island.

Fainting: Swoon by cathedral_carver (3K, T, Johnlock) Sherlock keeps fainting. There are approximately five different reasons why this might be happening. Possibly six.

Hypothermia: Helpless by ivyblossom (12K, M, Johnlock) John, ever the good doctor, notices something not quite right about Sherlock. Biopsy, diagnosis, surgery, and radiation: Sherlock lives through thyroid cancer treatment.

7. Post a snippet from a wip.

Paul heard the river before he saw it. A deep, watery rush; hundreds and hundreds of tonnes of meltwater, silt, stones, all shifting slowly towards the Indian Ocean. The Ganges was already broad, even high up on the edge of the mountains as they were, and as they stumbled down onto the stony beach the lights of the town on the far shore twinkled like distant stars.

12. Do you outline your fics?  If yes, how detailed are your outlines?  How far do you stray from them?

Hmm...it depends! I'm not a natural outliner, but sometimes I do know that a story is beyond my capability to successfully pants all the way through, so I will attempt to outline. Usually it ends up being a vague mishmash of sketchy scenes with bits of dialogue or moments that I definitely want to include. But sometimes I feel like it makes the actual writing process harder? Like I'm putting roadblocks in the way of my natural flow. Maybe I'll get better with practice.

35. What’s your favorite fic you’ve posted?

Weirdly, even though it's very short, I really like At Tittenhurst Park - I think I achieved exactly what I wanted to achieve with it and I really like the atmosphere.

68. Are there any fics that influenced you to write the way you do?

Oh, yes! This is going way WAY back into past fandoms but one fic that's really stuck with me for years has been Seeds by thesardine, which I think is a perfect example of how to write something full of character with a really light touch that's so enjoyable to read. That's what I aspire to, anyway!

If we're talking smut, this Generation Kill fic is the pinnacle for me. The transgression! The boundary-pushing! The deliciously physical descriptions! I wish every one of my fics could be this perfectly hot.

hello this is a year later so likely unhelpful lol but it's Sing Me The Alphabet by thesardine! One of the all-time greats for sure, I fucking love the strangeness of this fic and how beautifully it works.

Hi! I'm looking for a fic that I'm afraid might have been deleted. All I can remember is that it had a later cross-over with Agents of Shield and that at one point, Bucky had named a stuffed animal "Nobody" (after the Dickenson poem) and after Steve "rescues" the toy, Bucky has a breakdown about how Steve never came for him and Pepper comes in and comforts him. I think there was something about shrinky dinks as well? I know that it eventually ends in a proposal, but I can't seem to find it.

What a wonderfully detailed description! Does anyone recognize this?

I think this might be Secondary Exposure by thesardine, one of my most favorite fics. In this one, however, John drugs Sherlock's milk and Sherlock is the one to give John a glass of hot tea. I won't spoil the rest. If it's not the one nonny is looking for, I hope they enjoy it anyway!

Hello. I'm on a reread of my favourites and I cannot find this fic in my folder that was fantastically written (it could even be two different ones I meshed in my head into one), so John was attacked, and Sherlock protected him by killing the attacker with a knife. He goes into shock, and John takes care of him. I distinctly remember John handing Sherlock a glass of tea, Sherlock finding it odd that he serves hot tea in a glass, but also comforting, and then asks for a sedative, and John says it's already in the tea. I think it was pre-slash. Thanks so much in advance for taking the time to read this. :)
