(English is my second language, sorry for anonymous. I don't want to be made fun of)
I have friend who studying bees, she says beekeeping in US for honey is bad for US bees, but post you reblog says it is good?
I asked my friend to give some research to do with bees that is not too difficult to read, here is what she sent.
https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2018/01/27/581007165/honeybees-help-farmers-but-they-dont-help-the-environment
https://www.nwf.org/Home/Magazines/National-Wildlife/2021/June-July/Gardening/Honey-Bees
I like your blog, but why share things that are lies?
the post says "European Honeybee: Introduced from Eurasia. Massively important insect for agricultural pollination. Can compete with native pollinators but does not usually out compete them."
unsure what part of that is a lie. or that its saying beekeeping is "good"

Hi there, I’m just popping in to say that I really loved “Like Salt in the Sea”, and I looked forward to each update!
I was wondering though, if you would write some oneshots about Kaydel and Dopheld?
I’d love to see how they became more than friends!!
Either way, please keep writing!!!
Thank you so so much!! I do intend to add to the Salt-verse with one shots, but I am finishing a mythology AU right now and outlining plot for another long canonverse story. Unfortunately, I can't really work on multiple projects at the same time.
And if anyone wants to write their own one-shot versions of events or couples in theSalt-verse, I would love it and would happily link it to the story. Again, thank you so much!!!

It's mostly synthesized in a lab. I mean, it's still dumb to point out it's from a plant source (caffeine is caffeine) but I suppose that won't stop some people from caring.

What Was The Forbidden Fruit?
The institution of original sin in Christianity manifested in the first book of the Bible, and its foundational nature places it in the spotlight in popular culture depictions. Adam and Eve often appear in the Garden of Eden, adorned with fig leaves over their genitals and standing beneath an apple tree. This common depiction seems to suggest that the general understanding of the story is that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil must have been an apple tree. However, there is no direct confirmation in the Bible for what species the tree was and what fruit it produced. So, why then is it so often depicted as an apple tree? Moreover, what evidence is available to point to the truth of what may have been the species of this tree?
Understanding why the artists in western culture so often choose an apple is, like most other curiosities in the Bible, difficult to answer directly. One factor in this popular depiction is that the apples that are common in the western world today share a common ancestor in a species still available today: Malus sieversii.[1] Based on its prevalence in Central Asia, it is likely that apple trees were a common sight in Antiquity in the Middle East. That alone does not explain the acceptance of apples as the forbidden fruit. Some scholars suggest it may have been the result of a Latin pun, following its translation into Latin in the 4th century CE by St. Jerome. [2] In this pun (or perhaps a misunderstanding), Eve ate the mālum(apple) and contracted malum(evil). [2] These translators did not have the benefit of a direct translation from the Hebrew, which simply used a generic term (peri) for the fruit hanging from the tree.[2] Not to mention that during Jerome’s lifetime, malus did not strictly refer to an apple, rather it could have been used to describe “any fleshy seed-bearing fruit.” [2]
The only conclusion that can be drawn with certainty is that the there was a fruit hanging from this tree. That said, one can further speculate from information in the surrounding verses. It is noted that Adam and Eve used fig leaves to cover their genitals, and it is not a substantial leap to conclude that they may have simply grabbed leaves from the tree which they had just eaten to fashion their coverings. [Gen. 3:6-7] Regrettably, this matter is without a definitive answer, but the presence of figs and fig trees throughout the Bible, one could argue, imparts a powerful thematic logic for choosing a fig tree as the species of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Other comments/reblogs have talked about how different beekeepers will treat their bees with kindness and others with abject cruelty and also for most vegans it's as simple as "it's an animal product, so no".
However, the main issue with ANY honey bee farm, regardless of how the bees are treated, is that the roughly 7-12 honey bee species are non-native in most countries. Farming them, even where they are native, means they artificially outcompete native bees anywhere they go and this contributes to a loss of crucial pollinators and biodiversity.
Take the UK, there are over 270 bee species here each with their own pollinating role. As climate change and habitat loss progress they're put under increasing threat, but the only species of bee anyone makes a large scale effort to protect and enable here is the European Honey Bee which is non-native. This rigged competition drives native bee populations down. The same happens in the US (4000+ native species), Australia (1700+ native species), India (~20000 native species), and more.
Beekeeping helps only honey bees, not the tens of thousands of keystone species of bee needed to maintain a healthy world!
Here are some articles about the effect of honey bee farming on the environment, native bee species, and bee farming's contribution to loss of biodiversity particularly in the UK and USA:

as a european who's tired of the jokes about our bland food I've never felt so vindicated as to read this. https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2015/03/26/394339284/how-snobbery-helped-take-the-spice-out-of-european-cooking
we are capable of using spices, and have done since the dawn of time
we used a similar veriety of spices to India until around the 1600s
the reason we didn't use spices in abundance after that point was because of the nobility throwing a tantrem and making their food bland because spices weren't a status symbol anymore.
it was not, in fact, a collective choice made by the majority of european people like Tumblr likes to pretend with these matters. but once again the result of rich assholes throwing a tantrum because they didn't have sole access to a thing and ruining things for everyone else.
Tumblr media
the fact it's the French and not the British that are responsible for this atrocity makes me doubly relieved, that's one less crime against humanity at the hands of the Island I had little choice to be born on

Prompt #10: Immediate Family Dining Style
Tumblr media
My family used to have traditional dinning besides lunch. Breakfast and dinner were at the table, and we ate the same foods as a family which consisted of me, my brother and sister, mom, and dad. Lunch became a free for all when my brother and I were old enough to prepare our own meals. However, now is a very untraditional method of dining due to busy schedules that vary from each other. We went from family style dining, where we sat around one dining table together and saying grace before meals to a very individualized meal times (Griffin, 2016). In our home now it is just my sister, dad, and I and my sister typically requires a slight variation of meals, and my dad and I eat the same time, however, it might be at different times. We also eat our meals at foldable/portable tables instead of one big round one. As my siblings and I grew older changes started happening during meal times and life as it should be. My dad and I also switch off cooking, depending on work schedule that day. I do miss the family dining, but then it makes the holidays so much more special when everyone, including distant family, is seated around a big table in togetherness.
