I was speaking to someone the other day who said that Kitty was the most boring member of the X-Men, and was in their words "useless" with no skills (like what???)

Anyways just as a reminder, outside of her mutant ability...

Kitty is expert ninja (sure due to a possession by a demon ninja but 1. she survived possession and 2. she still trains)

Kitty being an expert in anything with a sharp or bladed edge. Really good with swords and katanas and knives

Kitty being a computer science genius to the point she was as good and sometimes seen as better with computers than the mutant who could talk to machines

Kitty taking being a genius and taking college classes when she was twelve

Kitty being able to speak Japanese, Russian and the languages of Shi'iar fluently, as well as conversationally in Gaelic, Hebrew, and German

Kitty being a skilled pilot in various aircraft and spacecraft (though okay, never let her behind the wheel of a car)

Kitty being Headmistress of the school! Kitty being leader of the X-Men!

Kitty being the heart of the X-Men. Being an arrogant brat that learns to be better, being a point of human contact between mutants and human

Kitty going back to university to learn and humans trying to kill her for being mutant but she saves those humans.

Kitty being a big reason Magneto started to do good? Kitty being a positive influence there? Helping him out and forgiving him after him almost killing her which was the turning point?

Big bullet going to destroy the earth? Literally no other hero stopping it? Phased the whole thing and sacrificed herself? never talked about again?

She phased the Earth in a way to allow the earths core to destroy a threat in a way that Tony Stark said was impossible

Kitty being able to control the Black Vortex and having god-like powers? She voluntarily gave up that up rather than being possessed?

Kitty having killed the likes of Hulk and Emma Frost in various realities.

Anyways Kitty is a brat and arrogant and sometimes stupid, she can be childish and her love life is a mess. But useless???? No skills???

F: Haha, case in point^, I really love the AMOMK story and drabbles crackfic dialogue lol! I really love the conversations in The Cul-de-Sac Cons. I also thought about some of the dumb shit Matchmaker Jungkook has said. What an asshole!

But I think I have a soft spot for Yoongi and Kitt’s / Tae and Kitt’s dialogue throughout Kittenfishing. They’re processing relationships throughout the entire story, so there’s lots of commentary on all these different thoughts about connecting with others, and still staying in touch with oneself. I think I’m proud of it because their dialogue contains most of what I have to say about being vulnerable and opening up. Here’s how one such conversation starts:

“Whether or not things work out,” he says, “I just wanna say that this is extremely brave of you, and I’m extremely proud of your work.” He presses the COPY button with such ease, as if it’s not a problem to have more of you in the world. “So be kinder to yourself. Celebrate yourself, Kitt. I know I do.”

He holds his arms out for a hug, a trademark Yoongi hug, one that would be easy to fall into, and get lost in, and find respite inside of, and never want to leave.

But you stomp your foot, rousing the store clerk for just a moment.

“Goddammit, Yoongi!” you exclaim, wiping tear tracks from your cheeks.

Yoongi frowns, letting his arms fall to his sides. “What the fuck? I thought that was pretty good!”

“It was!” you whine, your breath shuddering. “It was the perfect thing to say! But it’s like… I… I-I don’t know what to do with that!”

You back away from the copier a little, your hip bumping into the defunct one next to you, and rocking Yoongi’s half-empty cup.

At the risk of seeming even more insane than you probably already are, you ask, “You ever feel like being nice to yourself hurts?”  

There’s also plenty of crackfic dialogue lol:

“Lemme guess — your fingers touched, and there was a spark? Eartha Kitt was playing, your eyes met, and you’ve been in this weird limbo of togetherness ever since??”

“We arm-wrestled for it!” you spit back. “Why are you punishing me for not living up to your standards when you’re the one who’s over-romanticizing! Jesus Christ, Tae, it’s like you live in a fucking Keats poem! I saw a grown man shit in a dumpster on my way to work this morning!”

G: I generally write start to finish, but I use a lot of flashbacks and refer to a lot of things repeatedly for parallel structure and continuity, so I’ll try to write those blocks out of order to ensure consistency between those periods in time! 

I: Guilty pleasure as a reader is just saccharine, sweet sweet fluff lol! My tsundere heart dies a little every time I begrudgingly smile at cute moments! Guilty pleasure as a writer is tougher because I just love it all so much, and so unabashedly... maybe 

J: Ooh, I love that this resonated with people! Briefly described the two alternate endings in this post!

K: Oh jeez, it’s always Yoongi. Probably Shirt, the living room sex scene in Matchmaker, or to build off The Road to You from earlier, the Yoongi chapter. Writing each of these fics made me weep. I’m not exaggerating.

L: I edit as I go, and I probably only re-read 2 or 3 times before posting? Even then, I’m only really scanning. I get impatient and am just so eager to share!

M: SO MANY. I should really make a separate page of all of them. The one that’s on my mind right now, given Hobi’s MV for More, is my Hobi fic called Kinetic! Here’s the header and synopsis:

Dancer!Hobi knows two things: the prestigious contemporary dance company that has invested in him, and the underground b-boy and hip hop scene where he cut his teeth. You also know two things: he’s recently been in a devastating accident, and he’s sitting in your physical therapy room, hoping you can save him.

N: I am quite selfish with my writing lol. But maybe it might be fun to see someone take on Bon Voyage Noona 2! Here’s a post with a snippet! I’ve been wanting to get that off the ground for way too long!

S: Enemies to Lovers mixed with There Is Only One Bed! But I like playing around with those two. Love Enemies to Lovers that has a twist underneath, some kind of misunderstanding to where they wouldn’t have been enemies in the first place if that were clear from the get-go. And the Bed can be anything, so I love seeing all sorts of different approaches!

T: Not really --- a good story is a good story! I just know that I tend to gravitate toward slice of life and rom-com types of tropes (the two above, coffee shop au, workplace au, etc.).
