Also can't get over the fact that by choosing two to survive and leaving one to be left behind, it really maximizes the loneliness of not only the devil but the girl that got left out. The devil is lonely but so is your own friend, it's the isolation and loneliness of being in a room with people yet feeling alone despite that. Especially if the people in that room are those you care about.
When it comes to those girls, it's an even worse feeling to see two of your friends hanging out together even more with you just standing at the background. Their self-esteem is already in tatters. Venus didn't think that Jupiter and Neptune sees her as a genuine friend, Jupiter keeps everyone at arms reach while lying to everyone and herself, Neptune keeps herself closed off while simultaneously being open to others in a contradictory way.
By choosing two and leaving one out, it makes them think worse than they already are. They'll start to think that no one really cares bout em but that's not true at all. In the yellow ending, Jupiter and Neptune stays by Venus' side on a tree branch with Jupiter even wanting to catch both of em should any of em fell off.
In the blue ending, Jupiter and Venus keeps trying to talk to Neptune even if she doesn't respond to them. In the red ending, Venus and Neptune stands watch beside Jupiter with Venus being attentive enough to move a candle away. They all care bout one another, it's just that God's world is unfair to only allow two when the devil allows three.
One of my absolute favourite thing bout this game though is the buildup to the True Ending. You first see the yellow, red, and blue endings, you came to know the devil too but you don't really "know" them at the same time. You think of the usual depictions of the devil, cruel and evil, you think that in those endings, the devil really is terrible.
Then you get to the true ending, expecting to still hear god in the radio but you're greeted with the devil literally just going "Oh, hi there." as if he wasn't expecting you in that channel at all. And it really was like smoke and honey, it really was too beautiful. She sounded like a mother long separated from her children and want nothing more than to get them back. She sounded like an old friend you lost touch with years ago and has been missing you all this time.
"The devil is lonely. We kicked out the devil and it must miss us. It keeps begging to be let back, for us to let it in."
And it did. The devil spoke so gently in the radio, not even a hint of malice nor anger. It wasn't even threatening nor rushing them at all. It was just gentle, it was begging. The devil misses them. The devil is lonely. If all it can do is beg to be let back then beg it shall.
