A fandom doesn't diminish the meaning/quality of a piece of media unless the media wasn't good in the first place imo. I think Mouthwashing as a game is insanely well written and amazing, enough so that it can stand having some weird shit about it online. It's still a good game. But it's not above having a fandom surrounding it. Literally there's fandoms for much more insane things.
