Okay take this in good faith and not me being an asshole or weird I just wanna know, as someone who’s been around clone wars people but not really in the fandom much. What’s the logic behind “no clonecest.” Do you read the clones as literal related to each other born of the same father brothers? If there’s…6-10k+ of them, would that not make them their own ethnicity? What about it pushes it into “-cest” basically. It’s like that one post, “would you fuck your clone? quiz.” What makes it such a red flag as opposed to like. Amidala.
well, there's millions of them and I consider them to be family the way that adopted siblings, step siblings, brothers-by-choice/irl found families--and yes, blood relations--are all valid forms of family. "Brother" historically, fictionally, etc hasn't--and can't--mean just blood relation, because that puts every other family orientation into a second class status. It's like they think family only counts as "real" family if they're related by genes and no other way; anything else is semi/less valid and a pale imitation of what a "real" family constitutes.
They're not their own ethnicity? What do you mean by that please lol
If adopted siblings are written to be in a relationship, it's incest. If step siblings are in a relationship, it's incest. Not "it's not technically--" it is (and even if by technicality something isn't X, by another technicality it is X). Neither of these maps perfectly onto the clones, but they clearly use "brother" first as familial identification and simultaneously as "brothers-in-arms" military speak. But lets not forget that Rex said to Cut "my family is elsewhere". If he didn't mean family the way you and I understand it, the writers would have made him say something else. The clones basically exclusively call each other "brother"--not friend or buddy or "that guy" but brother the way you or I would call our siblings (if you have any) brother regardless of our personal relationship with them (Slick clearly hurt his brothers and still referred to them as such, as did Cody and Rex in the same conversation)
And it's not quite similar to the clone thing you mention, because it's clear by now that not all clones have the exact same DNA. We've seen clones with mutations that aren't TBB that would require their DNA to be slightly different (ie 99). Fives also says, "look around--same heart, same blood". They understand themselves to be genetically/DNA related in some way. They're not clones of each other, they're clones of one guy and because they have no one else, they've made a family of themselves.
Anidala is not incest--it's got problems for sure, but it's not incest. Clonecest is. People who ship clonecest have an incest fetish. I don't like incest fetishes, I think they're incredibly bizarre and disturbing, and so I don't want those shippers interacting with me or my posts/content.
#ask#uhh couldnt really address the ethnicity thing bc i couldn't understand it sorry anon#but thats the run down#not saying you believe every thing mentioned here#but there are some common arguments about how its actually X or Y#so i addressed them as well#incest mention#incest tw#a huge part of it is the trivialization of nonstandard families#as being ''less than'' families with blood relation#its messed up. just cause they dont have blood relation the way two kids who share a parent do#doesn't make them any less brothers#theres more that goes into family than just DNA#the clones are one giant family and thus shipping them is incest#theres also the issue of fetishization of men of color in this case specifically polynesian men but im not as well versed in that arguments#so i didnt spell it out here#ask to tag
