Ik this is gonna be a kind of unpopular opinion, but I think that modern art gets a lot of unnecessary hate a lot of the time. I'm by no means a modern or abstract artist, but it annoys me when people mistake art for something that should convey talent when it should really convey emotion.

A lot of people say "oh, but I don't feel anything when I look at it" and that's fine. Not everything will align with your personal taste. Does this mean modern art is bad as a whole? I don't think so. I think a lot of the time, art is very personal. Maybe those shapes and colours mean something to the artist only. Maybe it's an abstraction of a scenery that they remember fondly, maybe it's an emotion they felt in a specific time of their life. Maybe the point of the art IS to convey effortlessness and laziness.

"I could have done that" is a redundant argument, because anyone can create art. Of course you could've done that, you could've done anything. It's not necessarily about "effort".

#theres also the argument of people making loads of money off of “stupid shapes”#and other artists not liking that theyre so successful when they put so little effort in #but honestly it doesnt really bother me #i think that theres a place for all kinds of art in the world and putting down artists that managed to find success with something they lik #bit shitty #theres a lot of modern art i dont understand #but it certainly doesnt irritate me or piss me off #it just confuses me sometimes #which is okay because like i said #not everything aligns #and art is personal #and sometimes its just pretty #which is as valid of a reason to make it as any other #with ai in the art world i think modern art is the least of our problems
