They have confirmed that the cutscene will be viewable in the game when this year ends:
For those wondering... yes, this cinematic will continue to be viewable in-game after Year 6 of Destiny 2 concludes!
I understand the frustration of the cycling content, but I feel like at least some form of trust in the narrative team should be there. The cutscene was huge and it was a huge reveal and it just makes no sense to me that people would think that the cutscene will just never be shown again or referenced or explained. It didn't make sense to me even before they confirmed that not only will the cutscene remain important, but that it will remain fully viewable in the game. But yeah, in this case at least, rest easy. This will remain in the game. We don't know how yet or if it will include other cutscenes as well, but we'll see.
I know that a lot of people who fixated on it are genuinely interested in the lore and the story and were genuinely wondering about this cutscene (me included!), but I know for a fact that this was amplified tenfold by people who don't care either way. Believe it or not, the majority of the playerbase skips cutscenes and dialogues. The point here is that people were being disingenuous with their negativity in order to pile up on already existing negativity about a topic that 90% of the playerbase doesn't care about, while saying that this simply should've been in the main campaign which betrays their lack of understanding and care for the story.
got tired of people saying that the Witness origins cutscene should have been in Lightfall so I guess I'm making this post.
first of all. there's the logistical issue of what character in lightfall would even have the information Ahsa is telling us without making huge changes to the structure of the campaign and at that point just wait till season of the deep where the cutscene fits much better anyway.
also this probably isn't surprising but many people complaining about this don't actually think about WHY the cutscene is placed in Deep instead of Lightfall logistically, let alone thematically.
So what's Lightfall about? Grief, as it is not very subtle about. Specifically about how different people deal with and process grief (ex. how Osiris is clearly not dealing with the loss of Sagira and his light, Nimbus pushing down their grief for Rohan, Caiatl's own relationship with her father etc) and obviously strand is a metaphor for that.
On the other hand, Season of the Deep is more focused on finding out what the Witness is and finding a way for Ahsa to tell us that information. It fits here better because 1. Ahsa is the only thing person that would have this information and 2. It parallels very nicely with Sloane because of the whole "singleminded pursuit of a single goal" with the Witness's pursuit to find the Final Shape and Sloane's tendency to forget everything else but "the mission". (she even notes this in dialogue right after the cutscene, it's not exactly subtle). Putting this cutscene in the actual campaign would make no sense, ruin the pacing, and take away from a cool parallel that we got with Sloane
#destiny 2#witness#long post#i'd also add that like. destiny's entry barrier for new players is a staple of the franchise#it has always been like this#starting destiny 2 as a completely new player who hasn't played or read anything about d1 was certainly an experience#NOTHING. and i mean nothing. absolutely nothing was explained#the game just assumed you played before. this has happened with every expansion release#now we get some cursory recaps which is nice but it's mostly to help returning players or those that forgot what happened#and i genuinely don't think that TFS (the final expansion of 10 years of story development) will be any different#and i also don't think it should. at this point. not in the story department#all expansions always have an approachable gameplay loop so new players can play without really engaging with the story#and i believe TFS will be the same#from what little we've seen TFS is absolutely banking on veterans and returning players#like. the first thing they showed us was cayde. this means nothing to new players#i'm sure new players will enjoy the shooter but they will not understand the story no matter how many cutscenes they see#the witness cutscene is incomprehensible to someone who never played before even if they see it now#they cannot grasp the scope of what we've seen. and that's fine! there's time to learn if they get into it#there should be better tools in-game to be able to learn and hopefully some sort of cutscene viewer will help#there's the timeline feature which is a good start but needs to be expanded#these are all better topics for feedback#i'm sure that if they could they would keep all seasons and expansions forever in the game and make them purchasable#like from a business perspective if they could do this they would. more money#i'm really hoping that at some point these issues will be solved and that going forward destiny will no longer suffer from removed content

X-Men Origins: Colossus (May 2008)
Chris Yost/Trevor Hairsine
X-Men Origins was a loose series of a dozen one-shots published by Marvel from 2008 to 2010, each exploring the early days of an X-Man in a single issue (Marvel evidently having concluded that unless you were a really big deal, like Storm or Wolverine or Wolverine or Wolverine or Wolverine, you couldn't support a full prequel miniseries). Generally these picked up on existing but not fully explored canon, going back and depicting incidents that had been referred to but not shown, expanding on brief flashbacks, stuff like that. These are, so to speak, the last bits of X-Men pre-history, each of them leading right up to the first appearance of the characters, and they're the last things we're going to read in our Era 0 ... era (with the exceptions of the issues for Deadpool and Gambit, which I'm not reading yet because we haven't got to those guys in the main read yet). Got all that?
For whatever reason, the series started with Colossus, in an issue that both establishes the overall tone and quality of these (which is, basically, "meh") and has a really deeply weird vacuum at its heart - a vacuum which is present in the rest of the series but is a particular problem here.
There is, of course, no need to really rehearse the details of Colossus' past: it's simple and pure, just like Colossus himself. Farmboy turns to steel, saves his sister, goes off to save the world. It's all very Superman. You know, this Superman.
Ah, right, yes. Here's the thing about X-Men Origins: Colossus: it isn't set in the fucking Soviet Union.
Oh! The Federal Security Service! Of what country, pray tell? Never mind. (The closest we ever get is "Russia".) And what kind of farm does Piotr Rasputin grow up on? Just...a farm. Just a regular farm.
This sucks, man. It's right there in the first sentence of his appearance, what kind of farm it is!
This Origins update is, of course, an emanation of the so-called "sliding timescale" of the Marvel universe, the principle where by the past moves along behind the present to ensure that all these characters who debuted in the 1960s aren't now 70 years old. But more than most of these characters - more than almost all of them, I would argue - Colossus' origin in the Soviet Union meant something, and had been explored on that basis before. Piotr believes in certain "Soviet" values - the common good, the collective before the individual - and he exists in a world different from the one in which he was raised. These things cause him considerable angst, and this is essential to his character. You could even have written a story about him growing up during the fall of the USSR, which could have updated the timeline but still would have used and further explored these themes! Instead we get this...nothingness, with nothingy designs and nothingy characters.
This issue gets Colossus to where he needs to be by the end of it, but reading it is an utterly bizarre experience of watching a character's story get hollowed out. Claremont wasn't doing anything especially radical by featuring a Soviet character to emphasise the internationalism of his team - it was a trick that dated back to, at very least, Chekov on Star Trek (another member, along with Piotr Rasputin, of the "uhhhh, quick, think of a Russian surname" club) but to strip even that radicalism out thirty-whatever years later really is depressing.
Also, WTF is happening with Storm's face. Anyway, Jean is next.

Todays rip: 20/09/2023
Vote Responsibly!!
Season 4 Episode 1 Featured on: SECOND WIND ~ SiIvaGunner: King for Another Day Tournament Original Soundtrack VOL. 2
Ripped by Smoky
youtube
Requested by @youtubepoopmusicvideo!
This is a big one, and one that's been pretty hotly anticipated by the requestee. Lauren, otherwise "Yhenestik" on Twitter and other platforms, is unquestionably the biggest devotee toward a SiIvaGunner character that I've ever seen, and is in general a face I see a lot in the community's small social media presence such as here on Tumblr. The character of his affection is a really fascinating one, and one I'll devote some time to talking about today: John Notwoodman.
John is pretty much a pitch-perfect demonstration on how SiIva lore typically operates and evolves - a joke suddenly growing its roots into something we become attached to. The joke this time was pretty easy to understand - Season 3's King for a Day tournament needed a host, and the team thought it'd be funny to present this host as nothing but fan-favorite character Wood Man in a gameshow-esque bow tie, top hat and curly mustache. The fanbase, of course, went along with this sort of kayfabe during the tournament's running, and John Notwoodman was treated as his own character, despite only really existing to host this temporary, made-to-give-the-channel-something-to-do event.
Funny enough, though, the idea of there being multiple incarnations of the channel's defacto mascot was actually something that Wood Man himself jokingly hinted at back during his initial channel takeover at the prelude to Season 2. As Season 2 progressed, we got further confirmation that Wood Man indeed has the power to transcent dimensions and timelines, due to his status as a hybrid between a Figment and a computer virus. Us loreheads were already aware that John Notwoodman being a seperate character from normal Wood Man was a genuine possibility for the team to pursue - which is what ended up occuring during Season 4 Episode 1. It started with Unusual Circumstances - A SiIvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis Side Story, a lore video that lightheartedly depicts the context and resolution behind how the SiIvaGunner channel nearly got terminated at the end of Season 3. This video, beyond being an all-time favorite of mine on the channel, mostly just added fuel to the fire on whether or not John Notwoodman was truly a seperate character from Wood Man himself - if nothing else, it confirmed that the two were absolutely intertwined with one another and didn't just exist separately. Nevertheless, this brought new eyes to the character, and would result in their inclusion as a major character in both the third SilvaGunner Spooktacular Halloween Horror Special, and the legendary King for Another Day Tournament. Through Spooktacular III in particular, we now both had confirmation of John's status as his own character and a canon voice for him - the voice of the Announcer as to later be used in KFAD2. KFAD2, then, not only gave him plenty of relevance as the event's announcer and overall CEO, but gave him tons of time to expand as a character through the event's extensive back cover - the King for Another Day MOJO website, which has written dialogues between all of the event's characters. It's something I myself am still lagging behind on in terms of required reading, yet just from the pieces I've read its easy to understand how the event gave John Notwoodman even more life than he had before, as a lover of the dramatic, theatrical, and overall just having a good time.
Both of these appearances suddenly grounded the character in SiIva's canon with relations to Wood Man, Unregistered Hypercam 2, Meowth, and the various KFAD contestants - he became a character with a distinctly different set of priorities and goals than the Wood Man we know. Priorities that, as shown in KFAD2's finale, showed just how long Wood Man himself had left to go as a person. Wood Man may once have been averse to the idea of there being multiple incarnations of himself, yet he's able to see that their existence shows all the possible ways his own life may one day end up. Three seasons later, and we're still unsure just what path Wood Man will end up walking down.
Though John hasn't had much to do recently on the channel, his theme - Vote Responsibly!! - is, too, emblematic of his progression as a character. He started out as nothing but a jokey facade for a familiar face, and the original Vote Responsibly theme as featured in Season 3 reflected that. But a year later, as second contest began - John Notwoodman was now a person all of their own, with a theme proudly arranged by the character's creator, Smoky. Smoky is broadly speaking in charge of the entire channel's lore and most of its characters, and its been immensely interesting seeing how she's grown both him and Wood Man himself outward as two differing people, working within the loose constraints of SiIva's lore to create a genuinely fascinating dichotomy between such similar-appearing characters. All of that, whilst still putting in the elbow grease to make genuinely excellent arrangements and compositions such as Vote Responsibly!!. Though its a theme I mostly love for what it symbolizes -as you've likely been able to tell through this incoherent rambling - it remains a banger all on its own.

Redoing my pin
Welcome to my blog!
Hi there I'm Rodimus/Roddy/Donnie/Tabby/Clown. You can call me any of those, I'm an adult late 20s he/it pronouns.
I edit this thing constantly LMAO as you can see I love robots <3
My top faves are: Starscream, Optimus, Blitzwing, Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, Megatron, Shockwave, and Smokescreen
I've recently started writing fanfics you can see them @ my AO3 AutieDonnie. My current AUs are the following
Mutinis AU
A Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fic that focuses on the villains. Warren Stone opens a bar, and the desire to become better people and going to group therapy, as well as holding the turtles responsible for their actions changes the story
The Villainous Mech Reverses the Datapad
Starscream dies in beast rising, but hes so enraged over his life and curses Primus in anger. Starscream then wakes up in his original frame, back before the war with all his memories over the past millions of years. Now he must navigate and alter the timeline to benefit himself.
Transformers Prime: Genesis
A transformers prime rewrite AU that expands on the characters, tries to take the aligned novels and games into consideration, and introduces more Cybertronians. The story eventually pulls heavy focus on Smokescreen when he's finally introduced. The story will also feature the Rescue Bots cast...eventually. (this isn’t a knock on canon TFP. I love Prime a lot which is why Im making my own au)
Au stuff
By all means feel free to ask me about any of these Aus! Keep in mind TFP: Genesis is heavily canon divergent.
Im kinda picky about ships, basically I'll only write what I personally ship. Nothing against what you like! I just know I wont do a good job if Im not invested and thats not fair to anyone. Most of my ships are slow burns, because I hit everyone with the demi beam. If you need a ship tagged let me know! (:
Major Ships for my work

I think the reason people are saying that scene should have been in Lightfall's campaign is because it's so incredibly vital to the story and anybody who isn't around for, can't afford, or skips seasonal content is missing such a hugely important scene. Which is actually a fair criticism of the entire seasonal model, which makes the game a lot less accessible for new players unless they're capable of doing hours of research and sitting around watching videos to get the story (which, for a *game* people do for fun is a lot to ask and a large turnoff for a fair few people). I agree that as is, the scene wouldn't have fit in the expansion we actually got--but I can see the complaint that they should have structured the campaign in a way that included this information. (Though some people are being very rude in how they give the criticism)
Yeah, I agree with that. I think a better way to go about it is to continuously ask for a way to preserve seasonal content (at least some of it) in the game. As of right now, a lot of some of the most crucial events in the game happened in seasons that can no longer be played and can only be viewed online. Bungie even started uploading all seasonal content officially to their youtube for people to be able to see, but that just makes us go back to the days of D1 where crucial lore was online instead of the game. Obviously in this case, a whole seasonal story mission with cutscenes is probably harder to keep in the game than lore tabs but you know.
A really good way would be to make use of the in-game timeline feature and expand on it. Make the timeline more in-depth, add more menus so that you can click to see more about a season and have menus that allow you to access and rewatch seasonal cutscenes and officially made summaries done with the in-game engine (something like the summary made as an intro to the Season of the Deep). Summarise a season with more information and let us rewatch cutscenes as a part of the timeline feature.
Best case scenario would be to grab most important seasonal gameplay missions, pack them into mini replayable missions and drop them in a Legends tab where people can go to check out past content and replay it themselves. This doesn't have the involve the full seasonal content obviously, because the seasonal activities and environments are gone, but a lot of those were not open world instances anyway. Saving Saint is entirely in a separate environment.
Obviously, all of this is a lot of work and, depending on the engine and other issues, may not even be possible. At least not right now. It would be nice though, especially the second option.
For now, I think we'll be stuck with youtube-only content which isn't the worst, but it's definitely inaccessible and it's not ideal. I'm sure that Bungie will keep the summary of this knowledge in the same way they summarised a lot of other stuff recently as intros to campaigns and seasons. Hell, TFS teaser included a summary of the last few years of the story and that was 40 seconds long. They will not just like... completely forget to mention this ever again.
Definitely the best thing would be to make sure that this cutscene will be viewable in-game. I hope that at some point they'll make this possible. It's the core issue of this whole problem and I wish people focused on that instead of saying that this should've just been a part of the campaign or that it would've "fixed" all of Lightfall when that's simply not true and also would not make sense. But do I wish for this cutscene to remain in the game forever? Absolutely. We desperately need the timeline feature to actually offer a substantial look at the timeline and content of past seasons, including cutscenes.
#destiny 2#ask#long post#my other issue is that a lot of people who complain about cutscenes being gone are the people who don't watch them at all#how many people skip cutscenes and play without caring about the story?#I know there's a lot of people jumping on this train simply because it's negative#obviously not everyone and the criticism is still legitimate; we should be able to keep cutscenes like this forever#but the criticism gets muddied and hijacked in this situation a lot unfortunately

In the Spirit of Defiance
Ah, welcome, welcome. What’s this, you might wonder. Avery, don’t you just post almost decent fanfiction about Lackadaisy? And the answer is yes, that’s usually what I do. However, for my latest story, I settled upon writing a compendium to go with the story. What initially started as a bit of ramblings about the Funeral Home itself, I instead decided to turn into a more detailed piece on my creative process, my ideas, head-canons and the like.
Now, perhaps you’re wondering why someone – anyone at all – would care about the Arbogast Funeral Home this much. Well, allow me to formally introduce myself, in case you don’t know me. My name’s Avery, I’m an avid(-ish) Lackadaisy fan-fiction writer and I've been working on a major story that predominantly features the Arbogast Funeral Home and its residents.
So what is this story I’m speaking of?
Ordained Defiance is a story following Abelard Arbogast and my OC Cainan Wirth. This compendium will also go into detail about him, his creation and the motifs I chose to play with. With no future spoilers, of course. This will be a breakdown of the first story arc, which consists of chapters one through five, which I titled In the Beginning…
In the name of defiance, while writing and conceptualizing the story, I actually went out of my way to go against a lot of conventions when it comes to OC and canon ships.
For one, if you’ve read the story, you will have noticed that the story is primarily from Abelard's perspective – it’s his story first and foremost and Cainan is just another player within his world.
A lot of ship media tends to put all the focus into the OC to the point where they get all the development and care, often to the point where the canon character they’re shipped with gets reduced to being little more than a mannequin for them to hug and kiss when needed. One of the easy trappings is to not allow the canon character to retain their sense of autonomy and agency.
It’s not always the case, of course, but it’s an easy trap to fall into. As of writing this little think piece, I’ve written nine chapters of which only a single one is entirely focused on Cainan.
It’s so easy to give in to the temptation of making one’s shiny, new OC the star of the show, the proverbial sun with all the canon characters orbiting them. But I think it’s especially important to retain focus on the canon character when it comes to a ship. And doubly so when it’s someone with less screen-time in the main medium of the series.
Abelard is only featured on a small handful of pages and one of my other goals with this story was to expand on him as a character, primarily utilizing head canon and ideas of my own. It’s one of the fun aspects of writing characters you like, when they’re not the head-lining acts; you can add your own ideas and project them onto the character.
I likewise didn't give Cainan an overly detailed backstory that would require a timeline or compendium of its own. I purposefully left in blanks and some things will remain unspoken. After all, isn't that what's so enticing about many of the main characters in Lackadaisy? We know Rocky went on the road for years, but we don't know everything he did or experienced; we know Zib and the band met in New Orleans, but we don't know what their time on the road entailed either. I could go on... filling in the blanks and guessing is half the fun; it's why people are so eager to ask Tracy lore questions on streams - it's fun!
-----
Next, let us talk about the primary settings within the story, namely the Arbogast Funeral Home. My inspection of this house took me to some weird, weird places and nearly broke my brain. However! The good news is that it was all worth it. Note that there shall be a few instances of guesswork and head-canon in this.
The Arbogast Funeral Home was confirmed by Tracy to be the childhood home of Abelard and Elsa, hence the place being named for their family. This was confirmed on a Patreon stream that took place on February 29th 2024. The Funeral Home is located in Defiance, Missouri, a small unincorporated community that was settled by German immigrants. The name Arbogast itself is derived from old germanic and contains ‘Gast’ which in modern German means ‘guest’. Arbogast itself carries a similar meaning, according to several etymology websites; ‘inheritance’ and ‘guest’ are the key interpreted meanings behind the name. In case it wasn't already obvious enough, Abelard and Elsa's heritage/ancestry was indeed confirmed in the February 29th stream.
So now that we have that out of the way, first things first: how did this start?
Quite simply, I started with the embalming room where a certain fender bender got his head fixed up by Elsa. As you can see in the picture above, my overthinking actually works out quite nicely.
Elsa can be seen entering from a wooden door with a large frosted window, which is connected to a separator wall with similar wooden construction and frosted windows. The door can be seen being open at the bottom of the frame in Lackadaisy Medicament and it’s even more visible in Mortuary where the other panels aren’t blocking the view. However, in Morphia we get the clearest view of this side of the room.
Similarly, my overthinking has further been proven to be a valid method for figuring out this house by the fact that you can see two windows near the ceiling in the embalming room. When looking at the outside of the Arbogast Funeral Home as seen above, you can see the windows near the ground clearly line up with the ones in the basement.
Now, let us delve into the tale of the impossible window.
This is the part of the funeral home that nearly broke my brain. In Lackadaisy Scrutiny when Elsa sees Wes and Fish walking up to the door to the side of the funeral home, she’s glancing out a window. First to establish how and why I know this is that door, the main thing is that the front doors to the funeral home’s parlor (as mentioned by Bobby to exist in Lackadaisy Undertaker) is a large double door with windows, as can clearly be seen in establishing shots of the place. Meanwhile, Elsa stands by a single, fully wooden door, which has porch lights on either side of it. This is also the door where there’s a swing seat as can be seen in Lackadaisy Bygones.
So how come I refer to a supposed impossible window? Well, I’ll tell you. If we look at the type of window and match it to the ones on the front of the house, none of them fit. The main issue is there’s no stretch of uninterrupted wall where the window could possibly be, based on the first shot we see of it. Furthermore… no wind chimes to be seen. We can see the chimney in the establishing shot of Lackadaisy Sendoff.
If we look at Wes and Fish leaving, we can see they walk along a path leading away from what is clearly the left side of the house (when looking at the two establishing shots we see), but they’re walking to the right (our POV). How do we know it’s supposed to be the left side of the house? Namely the absence of a chimney, which we see in establishing shots as part of the wall on the right side of the house.
Am I nitpicking over details no one else would see? Yes.
Am I trying to justify how long I spent trying to make sense of this house? Also yes.
To briefly go into the established layout; front door leads into the parlor, which connects to the turret in front; to the right of the parlor is a foyer, beside it a living room with a fireplace. Above is where bedrooms would be, which is an assumption. To the left is a garage or a shed, which I have assumed to be where bodies are brought down into the embalming room via the other door leading there as can be seen in the scenes taking place there.
And that is all I have so far on the layout.
-----
The first thing a lot of people ask me when they learn that I’m one of the very few, very vocal Abelard enjoyers in the Lackadaisy fandom is simply: why? Why Abelard? And to an extent, I get the confusion. Abelard isn’t a main character, he’s not someone you immediately think of when you think of the series; he doesn’t appear much in the comic, but he made an impression on me when I decided to reread the comic following the release of the pilot.
Say what you will about the man, but you can’t deny that he’s one of the most expressive characters and that his dialogue is amazing, honestly. Hamfisted, dramatic, over the top in the most perfect way. So that was of course something to take into account while writing Abelard, though for the first mini arc of the story, there hasn't yet been much reason for him to really get vocal just yet, but odds are it will happen in future chapters.
The prime examples of Abelard's defining dialogue – or rather his monologues – can be found in his confrontation with Ivy as well as his card game with her in Lackadaisy Sendoff.
Actually writing for Abelard seemed very intimidating at first, though I’ve been doing my best to keep up with his colorful language and his very wide vocabulary. Granted, I’m not entirely convinced I’ve got it right quite yet, it’s likely my personal biggest weakness, but I like to think I at least have his characterization down, even if it’s written and conveyed in a less smooth way than the comic.
So… Cainan Wirth, eh?
Yeah, Cainan Wirth indeed. Former resident of Defiance, who left home in his early teens to attempt to carve out a life on his own, perhaps making friends with some not-so-nice people. Yes, indeed, I’m pairing him with Abelard, thank you for asking. Why? Because I love Abelard, duh.
When I set out to create Cainan, I decided to make someone who would very violently contrast with Abelard; a white-furred, young, snarky and remarkably lazy atheist paired with a golden-brown, older, serious, no-nonsense reverend. What could possibly go wrong? I did go out of my way to try and distinguish Cainan, taking visual inspiration from Wick and Ben. I took the healthy, slightly more healthy body type from Wick seeing as many other male OCs are built like twigs. Like, let’s be real here. I also wanted to make sure his eyes weren't blue, as blue seems to be a common eye-color for white cat OCs. And I also gave him some good, old forehead fluff to give him a more youthful appearance, much like Calvin, Mordecai and Joey, for example. And of course, can’t forget those lynx-like ear tufts.
But I know what you were already thinking of, before I even started talking about his design; Cainan and Abelard? Not very subtle.
And you’re right. Though it took me a while to settle on a name after I started creating him, this was entirely intentional,. Not just because I thought it was a cute name pairing, but also because I wanted to further contrast the two; Abelard as a religious man to whom religion is important; the biblical Abel was favored by God; Cainan as an agnostic (at best) man to whom religion is a sore subject; the biblical Cain lost God’s favor and was cursed as a punishment.
Furthermore, Cain’s punishment in the bible was to be cursed to become a wanderer, not unlike Cainan who spent his youth and part of his young-adult life as a drifter. Oh, and I also decided to give Cainan a moon motif, which leads us into…
Moon Spirit might seem like a very strange ship name at a glance… and it is. Its origin is really clunky, but I think it works… and I’m not changing it now. Portmanteau ship names really don’t work; Cabelard just looks like Abelard with a C in front; for a while I went for Cainard, like ‘canard’, but I wasn’t really happy with it.
The origin of Moon Spirit as a strange one, but in hindsight it works. The ‘moon’ part I took from the term ‘moonshine’, for obvious reason, and an old myth states that Cain was sent to live on the moon after killing Abel in the bible. This was a coincidence, however; I’d decided on giving Cainan the moon motif before I even learned that this was a thing.
The ‘spirit’ part is twofold; it references the Holy Spirit, referencing Abelard's unwavering faith, and also just… spirits, as in alcohol. So you see, both words reference an aspect of each of them, and also reference booze.
Cainan's moon motif also ties into one of Abelard's most iconic lines, speaking of the “Wicked, troubled sea in every soul” (Lackadaisy Brimstone). As I assume most people know, the moon’s magnetic pull affects the sea and the tide.
Returning to the world of etymology, I also chose the name Wirth for the sake of being the opposite of Abelard. Whereas the name Arbogast, according to several etymology websites, stems from the old germanic words for ‘heritage’ and ‘guest’, ‘Wirth’ is an old germanic form of ‘Wirt’, which means host or innkeeper.
So, what else is there to know about these two? That’ll be in the story as future chapters come out. For spoiler reasons, I won’t disclose more beyond what can be learned in the first part of the story.
And now I will briefly mention a couple of minor characters, starting with Cainan's parents, Harold and Gabriela Wirth. I chose their names for a very specific reason. Being devoutly christian, I chose Harold after Harold Bluetooth, the king of Denmark who made Christianity the predominant religion of the country in place of the old Norse religion.
I decided to name the store owner of Defiance General Mr. Weaver as a tribute to John Weaver who ran a store near a different Defiance in Missouri, one that used to be located in Worth county. Not implying that they’re one and the same, but I figured it to be a fun little reference to that.

Spider-man 2099 Reading Guide (WIP)
This guide is still a work in progress, there's definitely issues I'm missing, including cross over events and diverting timelines. I also might include legacy numbers in future edits. But this whole blog is a work in progress, so please be patient with me. If you have info I missed, or feedback, please let me know.
Read wherever you get comics from. This is just a reading order. If you can get an omnibus, those are easiest to follow IMO. Asterisks indicate branching timelines.
Volume 1 (Published 1992 - 1996. Takes place in 2099)
- Spider-man 2099 Volume 1 Issues 1 - 16
- Ravage 2099 Issue 15, X-Men 2099 Issue 5, Doom 2099 Issue 14, and finally Punisher 2099 Issue 13. These cover the Fall of the Hammer event.
- Spider-man 2099 Volume 1 Issues 17 - 23
- Spider-man 2099 Annual 1
- Spider-man 2099 Volume 1 Issues 24 - 41
- Spider-man 2099 Special 1
- Spider-man 2099 meets Spider-man
- Spider-man 2099 Volume 1 Issues 42 - 44*¹
- Spider-man 2099 Volume 1 Issues 45 - 46*²
*¹ = branching paths. From here, the original 1996 run continues on up through volume 1 issue 46. But the current ongoing "Symbiote Spider-Man 2099" run starts here. If you want the bare minimum of context for the newest run, start reading Symbiote from here and you're good to go. That timeline stays in 2099 for it's focus. The standalone comic "2099: Manifest Destiny" also starts here, give or take. It covers an alternative possible future / ending. Continue reading to this guide to go with Miguel to 2014.
(Assuming still on original path. Symbiote 2099 needs no guide.)
*² = more branching timelines. The original run continues here from with 2099 world of tomorrow volume 1 Issues 1 - 8. This is a potential introduction to the expanded world of 2099. I don't have a full guide yet for the rest of 2099. Spider-Man 2099 volume 2 also starts here, continue reading below for that.
Volume 2 (Published between 2014 - 2015, takes place in 2014)
- Superior Spider-man Volume 1 Issues 17 - 19
- Amazing Spider-Man (2014) issue 1. Specifically, only the 5 page story strip at the very end. Right after the hulk cartoon.
- Spider-man 2099 Volume 2 Issues 1 - 5*³ - 12
*³ = issues 5 through 8 are part of the Spider-Verse tie in event. I am not yet making a guide for this, because it was a headache. As someone who's only been reading comics for a year and is probably not qualified to run this blog, I honestly don't know how you're supposed to have followed along with this,
- The Amazing Spider-Man (2015) Issue 1. Again, only the very last section is relevant, as a standalone comic.
Volume 3 (Published between 2015 - 2017. Takes place going between 2015~ and 2099)
- Spider-man 2099 Volume 3 Issues 1*⁴ - 25.
*⁴ = not at branching timeline, but rather an incursion event. Volume 3 features characters from battlefield 2099 world, which I'm yet to cover.
And that's IT! After Volume 3 issue 25, if you go read the current Symbiote run, you're good to go. There's nothing else after this. Nothing.
(God, I'm going to have to cover Orlando's run eventually, aren't I. That's at the very bottom of my list, so don't count on it.)
Additional Branching Timelines / Unsorted bits
It wouldn't be a marvel series without other possible endings, would it? Even if Earth-928 is already a branching possibility from Earth-616, this too had a few other ways things could have gone.
This is more of a to-do list than anything else, or a list of series I haven't (yet!) added to this guide.
- The battleworld 2099 series. I've forgotten the name as of time of writing this.
- 2099 Unlimited. This takes place alongside volume 1, but doesn't seem to have specific inbetween orders (at least not at a glance). I suppose you could read volume 1 and then read through this? The stories in there don't interrupt the main S-M 2099 story.
- Formatting, adding sections distinguishing between volumes
Latest edits (6/01)
- Added a lime for "2099: Manifest Destiny" and removed it from the unsorted section
- Moved "Spider-Man 2099 Special" to it's location in the omnibook; between Volume 1 Issue 41 and "Spider-Man 2099 Meets Spider-man"
- Therefore combined issues 1 - 11 and 12 - 16, since they were previously broken up the by above special.
- Added 2099 Unlimited to the unsorted section

Anniversary: The Story Thus Far
With the 10th Anniversary Super Gauntlet going on, my brain has kicked into overdrive this week thinking about some of the lore concepts to come up. Of course, at this point we've only done Red, Bootleg Yellow (yes, I'm counting it), Gold and Silver, so we've still got a LOT of games to cover before we get into the plot, but ideas are already flowing. Things may change, but I just wanted to get down some current thoughts down while I've got it.
So one plotline the Lorecord has been playing around with for a few years now is that our last season, S10, took place in a Post Apocalyptic universe that S9 had been building up to (I wanna make a separate post on this) and we finally got an arc ending payoff with Wilting Y. Each person has their own thoughts on the timeline and what events led to this and what the aftermath was, but my gosh that moment we collectively went "OH SNAP" when connecting Mega Aerodactyl to Yveltal, there's no the question of what's going on in the Super Gauntlet.
Super Gauntlet is all vanilla games being played completely on real hardware systems. This opens us up to a lot of features we've never had access to! It's exciting but having all of the regions in their vanilla states feels like a new era. The world was rebuilt It's been centuries since The End. Someone hit restart on the universe. All thoughts that have come up in discussion before. But then something interesting came up: Our first loss.
Now I personally don't think a run needs Releases to become "interesting" but it can lead to some really fascinating ideas as we try to make sense of the loss. In this case, we were fighting over the need for Cut to continue the game. Our options were: 1) evolve the Kakuna (Simon) we already had in the party so Beedrill could learn Cut. Unfortunately, there was a pretty dedicated group of evolution cancellers, so doable but proving difficult. 2) With patience wearing thin, we could just deposit someone and go catch an Oddish. (Which is what eventually happened.) 3) It may be difficult, but we had a Spearow in the PC so if we needed to use it anyway to deposit someone, we could grab the bird then trade it for Dux, just like we did in the original Red run. But people were scared of the PC and for good reason, since sure enough we had a PC war break out and Marvin "Mushmouth" the Squirtle, Simon the Kakuna, and yes, even the Spearow, were all Released.
But interestingly enough, someone proposed that Dux was the one behind this. The question quickly became why. Maybe... just maybe... because this Dux was the same as the one from Original Red. That maybe Dux was trying to avoid the fate that killed him before. Maybe because he saw this group of relic hunters and knew that Ash did not have the most noble intentions in grabbing the Helix Fossil and would actually unleash an even greater threat in his quest chasing rumors and legends and whispers of the bygone era. Ash clearly obsessed about the past when it seemed almost everyone had forgotten about it. He spent hours at the museum in Pewter to learn about the gods and set out from home with a dream. He had already obtained things like the Helix Fossil, the Town Map, the Bicycle, all symbols of Chosen past and surely more to come. Maybe the death of Marvin and Simon was truly an accident but now that Dux has "awoken" the memories of his past life, he now starts a new personal quest to follow the Chosen to stop the Voices from destroying everything again. Which Dux may have been right about Ash sadly since the kid eventually did NOT revive Helix but eventually went out of his way to obtain the mysterious Missingno named Bucket who he used a few other times to expand his riches. Put a pin there, I'll get into his fate later.
And then it was added that we meet a Farfetch'd in Ilex Forrest too. Maybe the next time we would meet Dux. Maybe he was still traded by the little girl to someone else and that's why he refuses to listen to the Woodcutter's assistant. Now that he's aware of all of this, he ran from owner to find Celebi and get answers about these strange memories of a past life. Why is this happening? What happened before? Something to definitely look out for once we saw the stories of Gold and Silver.
Well, GS dual runs came up and we could see that the twins Raymond (Gold) and Xyler / Xylver (Silver) have very different personalities with Xy often taking advantage of his brother to expand on his own power and speed on ahead by wrecking anything and anyone in his path. He caught a Ledian early on, who has become associated as the Incarnation of Olden just as one would say Helix is an Omanyte (even if there have been times we've said not all Omanyte are Helix) and much later on it gained an on-again-off-again teammate status further solidifying Xy's reputation for being a "morally gray" character. All the more telling that he failed to get either of the Tower Duo while Raymond was able to get both. Raymond is a sweet kid, and a good kid. After his brother took his Chikorita and left him with a Geodude, Raymond stayed loyal to his rock friend and eventually got a Golem. He had a Slowpoke he made a king. He had the patience and kindness to evolve his Eevee into an Umbreon, and yes, he eventually befriended Ho-oh and carried it to League.
I mention all this because even if they seem like a pair of ordinary kids, no grandiose backstories (yet) or cool occupation, something of great interest came up towards the end. For one, we were told this was not a race but by gosh did it get treated like one. Johto lasted about a day and a half. Xyler beat the League while Raymond was still in Blackthorn City and just to dunk on him, he beat it a second time while Raymond was trying to win the first time. (In truth it's because we had one VERY dedicated player who wanted to get Ledian it's promised place in the Hall of Fame) But we got to the Trainer House in Viridian City and discovered we had some guests! Ritchie was one of our side game hosts from Yellow about a year or two ago, and NEEKO was from a Silver run from about the same period.
Neeko is especially curious to see here though because during his run, he was able to pull off some ACE glitchery most notably turning the Sudowoodo into a Celebi named ASUS. It was also said about this time that when we played Blazing Emerald Redo as a side game it was to wash the awful taste out of the community's collective mouth after some of the things that happened during our original Blazing Emerald run. There had also been joking how we ~never~ got to use the Pokemon Agony had before. And we sure ~never~ got to see some of the places that only exist in BE before. So there was some lore that Neeko used his own reality warping powers and Time Guardian friend to "erase" Blazing Emerald from the timeline. Agony.... Is another tale for another time, but let's just say I hc he did not take the idea of "fading from existence as everyone he loved forgets about him as some sort of punishment for things outside his control while he STILL suffers the consequences" very well. Neeko probably means well? But him showing up to beat down Xy (he swept us in the first encounter) is not a good sign for our power seeking scamp because Neeko has literally destroyed people before, he would do it again if he thought it would fix things. AND WORSE he's got ties to Celebi which brings us back full circle that maybe the one Dux was working for / went to meet in the forest with, was none other than Neeko. And given Xy's bad luck with birds (even his flier was "borrowed" after Raymond picked up Kenya then traded it to him) who better to thwart / keep an eye on this punk than the Leek Knight himself here to fulfill the divine duty he never got to fulfill?
And maybe he did. Maybe he didn't. I have two thoughts that if he did, what happened. 1) Neeko "erased" Xy's original adventure where we don't know and don't want to think about what he did to catch Neeko's attention when there was no one to stop him. This second time having Raymond go with him / instead of him may be specifically to stop that path of events from happening again. 2) Xy may have been the target but Neeko may have learned from his mistakes. Instead of going after him directly like he did with Agony, he tried to change the course by instead going after Ash. 3) ... Both are simultaneously true.
Ah yes, still got that pin?
Now before we started SGRed, we played a few intermission games to test out the system in preparation for the official run. One of those was Bootleg Yellow. We didn't finish it though, but we had a hero named Ash and he picked up a Squirtle so connections are there already. Since Missingno messed up our Hall of Fame data, we discovered that Ash was "dreaming of Marvin" as we watched a mini HoF play out with a corrupted Squirtle image. After the run, we got to go back and finish Yellow. Interestingly, since Ash had a full pack when he beat Giovanni, we had no space for the Fissure TM. Game Freak thought of this, so Giovanni doesn't disappear until you take it. So it looks like in SGR, Team Rocket never disbanded. BUT in Bootleg Yellow there's a greater focus on Team Rocket if I understand right and the League Rematch replaced Gary with Jessie and James as Champion. So Ash did end up finishing off Team Rocket so Johto events could proceed as they should. But how this came about is because after Yellow we have been playing Stadium2 with our games plugged in. There's a feature in Stadium2 that both lets you play the GB cartridges from an arcade mode and allows you to bring Pokemon from said cartridges into the arenas. Ash tried to withdraw Bucket and of course the game crashed. This seemed like The End for him. Except timeline wise this may have been what "saved" him assuming he completed Red, failed to defeat Team Rocket, whatever happened between Neeko and Xy the first time, Neeko went back and ripped Ash out of this Bad End but by doing so Ash ended up starting over in Yellow. Further complicating things is either Ritchie is here because while Ash had to set up events for Xy, Raymond didn't have that problem because Ritchie had done it. They're cool, just hanging out. That may mean when Neeko tried to fix things with Ash though, he accidentally booted out Ritchie. Alternatively, it could be that since the world is having these moments of repetition, Ritchie being a Chosen never forgot the old world and had his Yellow adventures ages ago. Seeing things play out (albeit differently this time) he's just here because he's worried about his home and wished nothing but the best for Ash. Which he did good so now Ritchie is just keeping an eye on things because he knows Neeko and is nervous about what he's up to. Please don't erase anyone this time. That caused such a mess... On the upside, whatever terror Neeko thought Xy might do didn't come to pass. Interestingly, ASUS ended up being the name of Xy's rival, so it's possible the redhead jerk was actually Celebi in disguise all along checking in on Xy to make sure he was good this time. Or ASUS being so aggressive was because he kept failing to stop Xy since he kept losing. It's funny then to think Neeko only showed up in the post game after having an "aw crap" reaction to Xy getting to the League miles ahead of Raymond but then Xy let his brother catch up. Only because like the Tortoise and the Hare he got cocky. Raymond defeated Red first so he kinda won the game. Red was vanilla Red of course so I'm not quiiiite sure what significance that would mean for Xy to reach him second. And with Ash and Ritchie around, technically we're not even sure who this Red is but it was (possibly) important to Neeko either way. So since Raymond won, that did ..... something??? We'll see.
But going back to Ash now. Why would he not have his team when starting over? Because after GS we went back to Stadium2 where Ash's team has been crumbling because of technicalities. First we ended up trading Bucket to Raymond but this turned it into a normal Ditto so it's no longer a cursed abomination. Ash could technically get Bucket back, but it'll never be the same. We also evolved our Onix into a Steelix so that's nice for him, but Ash can never bring him home now since Steelix would create a time paradox. So that's two members gone. As much as Ash cares about Pixie I bet he wouldn't dare risk her or the others remaining on a second journey if he started over in Yellow. Buuuut alternatively, Ash falling through a crack in the space-time thanks to Neeko may have honestly made him forget what happened. Was Red all just a dream? He's waking up 10 years old again being told Oak is waiting to give him his first Pokemon... Man, it was a nice dream being all action hero and finding creatures that shouldn't exist and all that. But... Just like Dux, it's possible as he went along this journey, even as things are slightly different, he's getting memories of what feels like another world. Another life... What happened to him?
And that now has my mind racing over other characters who may have had memories stirred. Ash's rival was named Blue. Is it the one from Original Red? From Gauntlet? What does he remember? Does Lance have this sinking feeling that for all his fame and fortune he's missing something? He had a wife, a whole family back in Naljo before the world fell apart. And now he's met not one but three new Chosen, how much deja vu is he getting from TPP shenanigans over the years? I have some thoughts on them, but that's for another post subject.
But for now, we got Ruby and Sapphire coming up on Monday!! And you know it's about this point in the series the stakes start rising. We've taken on mere mortals, now let's save the world from primordial titans! .... Good luck heroes.

White Label vs Custom Food Delivery Apps: Which One is Right for You?
Hey there, restaurant owner! If you’re thinking about stepping into the food delivery game (or taking your current service up a notch), you’re probably wondering whether to go with a White Label Food Delivery App or a fully custom-built solution. Trust me, I’ve been there, and it’s a decision that can feel overwhelming.
Let’s break it down together. I’ll share what I’ve learned about both options, so you can decide which path is best for your restaurant’s needs and goals.
What is a White Label Food Delivery App?
A White Label Food Delivery App is like a ready-made template that’s designed for customization. Think of it as a pre-built house: the structure is already there, but you can decorate it to match your taste. You get to add your branding, colors, and features to make it your own.
The best part? A good food delivery app development company can help you customize it quickly and get you up and running in no time.
What is a Custom Food Delivery App?
A custom app, on the other hand, is built from scratch. It’s like designing and constructing a house from the ground up. You have complete freedom to create a unique app with tailored features that suit your business perfectly.
While it sounds exciting, this route takes more time, money, and effort—both during the development phase and afterward.
How to Choose Between the Two
When deciding between a White Label Food Delivery App and a custom solution, it’s all about finding the right fit for your restaurant. Let me walk you through the key factors I considered:
1. Time-to-Market
If you’re in a hurry to launch your delivery service, a White Label Food Delivery App is the way to go. Since the core framework is already built, a food delivery app development company can help you customize it and launch in weeks, not months.
On the other hand, a custom app can take several months (or even a year) to design, build, and test. If time is critical, white-label wins this round.
2. Cost
Let’s talk about budgets. A White Label Food Delivery App is significantly more affordable because you’re not starting from scratch. It’s like buying a pre-owned car and upgrading it, instead of building one from spare parts.
A custom app, however, can get pricey—especially if you want advanced features and a unique design. It’s a great option if you’ve got a big budget and long-term plans, but for most restaurants, the initial investment can feel overwhelming.
3. Features
Here’s where it gets interesting. A White Label Food Delivery App comes with standard features like real-time order tracking, multiple payment options, and push notifications. These are more than enough for most restaurants, especially when you’re just starting out.
If you have very specific needs—like a unique loyalty program or AI-powered recommendations—a custom app might be worth exploring. Just keep in mind that adding extra features takes time and money.
4. Scalability
Both options can grow with your business, but in different ways. A White Label Food Delivery App is often designed with scalability in mind, allowing you to add new features or expand to multiple locations over time.
Custom apps can be scaled too, but you’ll need to rely on your food delivery app development company for every tweak, which can add to the cost and timeline.
5. Branding
If having a fully branded app is important to you, a White Label Food Delivery App can deliver exactly what you need. You’ll have full control over the look and feel of your app, without the headache of building it from scratch.
Custom apps also offer excellent branding opportunities, but the process takes longer and requires a lot of back-and-forth with the development team.
Why I Chose a White Label Food Delivery App
For my restaurant, the decision came down to speed, budget, and ease of use. A White Label Food Delivery App gave me everything I needed—a professional, branded app with all the essential features—without breaking the bank or waiting forever to launch.
Partnering with a reliable food delivery app development company made the process smooth and stress-free. They handled the technical stuff, while I focused on growing my business and keeping my customers happy.
The Bottom Line
Whether you choose a White Label Food Delivery App or a custom solution depends on your restaurant’s goals, budget, and timeline. If you’re looking for a cost-effective, quick-to-launch option that still lets you build a strong brand presence, a white-label solution is the way to go.
But if you have the time, resources, and a clear vision for unique features, a custom app might be worth the investment.
Either way, working with a trusted food delivery app development company is key to getting a food delivery app solution that works for your business.
What do you think? Are you leaning toward white-label or custom? Let me know—I’d love to hear your thoughts!

What Is Social Media
As an avid social media user, I see it as a platform to connect, sell, and perform. Connection is the most immediate and personal use of social media. It comes in different forms, whether connecting with friends, family, strangers, or celebrities.
Selling your product or marketing yourself as a brand is a substantial way people use social media, whether for personal or business reasons. You can build a reputation for yourself and expand your audience's reach. Targeted advertisement campaigns or strategic content to sell a product are ways businesses use social media. For performance, I see social media as an act. I presume most things I see on my timeline are fake or for attention. I feel sometimes people post on social media to portray an idealized version of themself. I will admit that, at times, I post for the attention of others and to have the people I know reply to me. I will post “photo dumps” at the end of the seasons to keep my family and friends updated on my life. Despite this, I post less than I scroll. I love the function of comment sections; they add an extra layer to most posts. Usually, they add to a joke or leave recommendations. This feature is why I enjoy scrolling on Instagram reels and TikTok. I also really enjoy sending things to my friends to get their reactions. On TikTok, there is a feature called “streaks,” which means you and another person have to send something to each other daily to continue it. My friend and I have one of 83 days. I like to think it gives me an excuse to speak to them and stay connected regularly. I have recently been coming across artificial intelligence-generated content, and it has been a fun activity to see if I can differentiate AI from human-generated content. I am usually good with visual AI but not so much with audio AI. When scrolling on TikTok, I will come across a new audio, and I can't distinguish if it is made by a human or a computer program. An excellent example of this is the TikTok account @girlygirlproductions. They recently made a song about ten things girls need before a man. It came across my FYP and sounded like something a YouTuber would make for a video. I checked the comments, and it's people arguing whether it is AI or not, as well as some agreeing with what I initially thought. AI content is one of my biggest challenges on social media. My biggest strength is managing when to start and stop scrolling. I try not to scroll excessively before sleep and to wake up thoroughly before checking my phone. I have a system in place to do homework without my phone being a distraction. I have two separate laptops, one for gaming/scrolling and one for schoolwork, so I don't get sidetracked during assignments. It is an expensive system, but it works best for me. In this class, I am eager to find new ways to approach social media, academically or personally. I want to learn what ways I can use social media to benefit my life,

What You Need to Know While Hiring Node.js Developers
Well…let’s not get into that “what is node.js” intro. (In case you don’t know: It is a widely popular JavaScript backend runtime environment)You are here because you want to hire damn good developers, and that too, as soon as possible.
But hold on to your horses; these things should not be done so quickly! Calm down; there are several factors that you need to know before, during, and after you hire node.js developers. Let’s start with “before”; first, let’s get to know what type of node.js developers are available in the market, so you can decide which option will be the best for you.
What Are The Types Of Node.Js Developers?
This is the first thing that you need to choose: engagement type. What type of contract would you like to have with your new hires? You must select a model that meets your technical and financial needs, depending on your company’s requirements and project duration. The following section will quickly guide you through the available options to Hire Node.js developers.
Hire For In-House Team
When you want to expand your in-house team or are looking for a developer for a long-term project, hiring an in-house node.js programmer is an excellent option. If you opt for this option, you must hire someone with in-depth knowledge of compatible tech stacks.
Also, keep in mind that you draw long-term financial commitment for the company. It includes the developer’s salary and mandatory benefits offered in a particular region. This model may be the best for organizations looking to expand or venture into new markets, as full-time Node.js programmers allow organizations to work on long-term strategies.
Hire A Freelancer
You don’t have to hire an in-house expert when handling a small project, as it can be cost-consuming. Short-term projects benefit most from working with freelancers. Project requirements often require technical reinforcements for small or growing organizations.
A predictable timeline can be followed for project requirements like product updates, new feature integrations, or platform migrations. Part-timers and freelancers are good choices in such situations. Hiring a freelance Node.js developer will give you access to their skills and knowledge at a reasonable price.
Outsource To A Node.Js Development Company
A proven team can also be hired to work on your Node.js project. Large enterprises and growing organizations often choose to outsource. Suppose you are a company or institution considering bringing its services/business online for the first time.
In that case, hiring a specialized service provider can offer several advantages over hiring a dedicated Node.js developer or freelancer. A lot of time is thus provided for significant stakeholders to evaluate the return on investment and efficiency of the digital solutions that have been deployed.
Finding suitable service providers depends on your organization’s financial status and goals. The process of outsourcing enables a company to hire entire teams with specialized expertise and indispensable niche specialists.
Who Is The Right Candidate For You: Responsibilities Of A Node.Js Developer
First, let’s explore what duties and responsibilities a Node.js developer has when working on a Node.js app development project to determine the most appropriate skill set.
Server-side logic development and database maintenance.
Make sure the front end is responsive to requests.
Data exchange between the servers and users should be made more accessible.
Data protection and app security should be prioritized.
Ensure that database queries are answered and that front-end transactions are recorded.
What You Must Know Before Hiring Node.Js Developers
Now let’s get to the things that you should know “during” and “after” hiring the best developers.
A Flexible Learning Curve
This one is essential. When you are narrowing down your search you must look for those node.js developers who have a thorough knowledge of fundamentals and are flexible enough to expand their horizons. Those with a good understanding of server-side Javascript fundamentals can easily learn Node.js. Hiring developers with experience with Node.js and who have worked with coding and testing is recommended.
The most important thing is to find developers with practical experience in coding and testing Node.js applications since that’s all that matters. Ask them to display a collection of their Node.js work, including client work, open-source contributions, or sample projects.
Expertise In Node.Js
There is no doubt that a solid understanding of Node.js programming and API development is essential. Make sure you evaluate how deep a candidate’s knowledge is. The candidates should be familiar with all Node.js versions and features. Whether they are qualified for Node.js can be assessed easier by preparing questions related to it.
Database management
This is one of the most preferred skills when hiring Node.js developers. Consider the SQL knowledge of candidates and whether they can manage multiple databases and merge them.
A Good Understanding Of The Front-End
An understanding of HTML5 and CSS3 technologies is desirable and potentially valuable during the collaboration process. To improve the user experience of the app interface, Node.js developers should also examine the front-end part of the code.
Keeping Your Data Secure
Security is becoming increasingly important as malware and data breaches increase. Understanding how to provide secure authentication and use encryption wisely is vital for your hired node.js developers.
What Cloud Platforms Are They Familiar With?
There are multiple benefits to deploying web applications on the Cloud, so we seek talent with experience working with the top cloud platforms.
Node.js applications commonly run on these cloud platforms –
The deployment of your application couldn’t be more straightforward with Elastic Beanstalk for deploying and managing scale and Lambda for serverless hosting on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Cloud platforms are going to be dominated by Microsoft Azure shortly. It offers one of the most efficient services available today in terms of building, deploying, and scaling applications.
For running Node.js applications in containers, Google Cloud offers low latency networks, its PaaS service ‘App Engine,’ and its Kubernetes Engine.
The Heroku platform offers free Node.js hosting, seamless integration with 3rd parties, and detailed documentation to make it easier for beginners to get started.
As a developer-friendly cloud platform, Netlify delivers a drag-and-drop feature for faster deployments and lets developers import components straight from Git repositories.
Have They Worked With Alternative Package Managers?
Node.js uses open-source, well-tested packages that reduce code rewrites and encourage faster development. Node.js developers use different package managers to manage these packages. Make sure the candidate you hire has a good understanding of npm—the default package manager for node.js. Ask them about the alternatives to npm to get better answers.
Yarn is one of the most popular alternative package managers for node.js apps. Yarn installs a package much faster than npm by using local cache memory. It also installs packages parallel and queues network requests to optimize the entire network. Pnpm is another popular alternative package manager.
Developers praise it for solving the problem of NPM doppelgangers. Pnpm installs all the needed packages on disk with a hard link to the node module directory. This saves disk space significantly.
Hire Dedicated Node.js Developers: FAQ
How complicated is the process of hiring node.js developers?
Finding experienced and knowledgeable Node.js developers can be tricky, especially when competing against thousands of other companies. It can be easier to find junior developers depending on their seniority, but if you’re looking for a senior engineer, you’ll have to fight for them. If you’re looking for an experienced Node.js developer, you’ll need to research them on different local and international platforms. But it would be like a piece of cake if you have already found a reliable technology partner.
How to Hire the Best Node.js Developers?
If you haven’t hired a professional developer before, here are some things to remember:
1. Make sure you have a list of everything you need to know and have all the necessary qualifications. 2. Focus on soft and hard skills, as their time management skills and ability to be collaborative and devoted team members will make a big difference. 3. Prepare a technical task, as it will determine the success of your project. 4. Get Professional Help from a Software Development Partner.
Software development partners have great experience finding candidates with the proper knowledge and skills. You’ll get the professionals you need and save time and energy that can be put into your business development strategies.

I just recently finished a big Christmas piece and plan on posting it on Christmas Eve. In the mean time, I just finished some sketches I started in the previous month. They actually tie in with the Gladius story idea and it's major premise of other timelines merging into one. One of those timelines is one where the astroid impact that wiped out non-avian dinosaurs didn't happen. Here are some concepts based on a bit of research I was able to do plus some speculation. Tyrannosaurus and titanosaurs (the top two dinosaurs), actually wouldn't change all that much as they were apparently really good at what they did (getting big). The biggest physical change would be reaching the absolute limits to their physical biology as the inland seas of the late Cretaceous period recede and continents like the Americas connect, allowing more room to expand. Behaviorally, I imagine the Tyrannosaurs to evolve more complex social behavior. There was already evidence social behavior and scans of their brain cavities indicated them having more intelligence than previously thought. Though they would never evolve true sapience (that was never a trend in dinosaur evolution), they could become better a coordinating family groups to achieve more successful hunts. They could even have a caste system based on age dedicated to hunting prey of different sizes so none of them go hungry. The most radical possibility is each family pack having it's own herd of herbivores that it monitors, guides, and protects from other predators so they can selectively feed on them themselves. The ceratopsian is leaning on the speculative side a bit. There is evidence of smaller members this group possessing quills that run along their back and tails so it wouldn't be unimaginable that larger ceratopsians would have these as well. In the case of the evolved ceratopsian, I imaging it evolving more defenses as their predators become more powerful and cleaver. The aforementioned quills become more rigid like those of a porcupine and provide some defense from behind. The heads, of course, are formidable shields adorned with spikes and razor sharp beaks. Pterosaurs were also reaching their peak in size, with the best know examples being Quetzalcoatlus and Hatzegopteryx. As a group they were very diverse and could continue being diverse even with the emergence of birds. The largest ones would continue being stork like predators but with slightly longer wings to traverse the entire globe and not be bound to any one continent. The toorodontids are often cited to be the most intelligent dinosaurs having the largest brain-to-body ratio. In reality, their intelligence may have been more comparable to modern day flightless birds and as mentioned before intelligence never seemed to be a priority for dinosaurs. That said, evolved troodontids could develop intelligence similar to modern day corvids with anatomy more resembling modern day birds. They would still retain features like longer tails a toothed beaks as they don't need to fly* as well as their clawed fingers which in addition to their beaks and feet could be useful in primitive tool use. I hope to expand on these more in the future, particularly the evolved tyrannosaurs and their caste structure. As always, comments and critiques are welcome.
