So. Since I've noticed quite a bit of Supernatural fans(or Jensen Ackles fans) are coming on board for Tracker Episode 12, decided to put together a little crash course to help out if needed.
Tracker is... kinda like a procedural? It's not a typical procedural, it's more like something akin to the Fugitive from the 60s, or Reacher(circa now, on Amazon Prime). It's one man carrying the show, but it gets a little complicated from there.
The show focuses around Colter Shaw, a drifter type and "rewardist" who grew up in the Sierra National Forest after his father had a psychotic break and moved the family there. He's an expert survivalist and tracker because of this, and roams the country helping people find, well, people.
However! The twist comes from the backstory. Ashton Shaw(the father) died mysteriously, and Russell Shaw(Jensen Ackles), is the prime suspect in Ashton's death(According to Colter). But we don't know everything. (It's been spoon fed very sparingly, so, we don't know).
The series is admittedly interspersed between past and present, with Colter pursuing various jobs in finding people.
We also have such storylines as:
-Hey, what if this drifter helped take down an actual cult
-For my first episode I will leap with you from this cliff with a bullet rattling around in my shoulder
-Uncovering corruption in a really fucked up town and family and being shot at and stabbed repeatedly
-Dark school conspiracies(TWICE), but also dealing with abusive people
-Dismantling illegal poker rings and dealing with lawyer corruption
-Visa schemes and illegal fighting rings
-That poor horse and the dark shit of the horse racing world
-The Fetanyl trade and trying to be better than your past
-Hey what if basically you were kidnapped just cause and missing for three years (Actual horror)
-Man goes skydiving after a missing plane with people in it, comically overprepared and basically a chase through the Idaho Wilderness.
-I reunited with my sister-Oh this got DARK. (I think it's trying to play on the Theranos scandal? They name drop it in the beginning of the episode)
You will encounter such characters as:
Teddi and Velma Bruin: An older lesbian couple who serve kind of Colter's handlers, they have a lot of dogs and are in general big Worried Mom energy.
Bobby Exeley: A double amputee computer whiz, is often fed up with Colter's bullshit but loves him irregardless. Was saved by Colter from something, but he refused to elaborate.
Reenie Green: Colter's ex, badass lawyer extraordinaire. Has taken out grown men with pipes, will literally run through red tape to help clients and Colter. Also fed up with Colter but enjoys working with him.
Dory Shaw: The little sister. She's gone onto be a college professor, like their parents, but her field is physics. Works in Wyoming, lived with their aunt and uncle after Ashton Shaw died. Gives Colter crap, but is a badass in her own right.
Russell Shaw: Yup, Jensen Ackles himself. The big brother. Who Colter suspects killed Ashton, but has been calling Colter throughout the show to try and talk to him. He joined the military, but other than that, we don't know much about him yet.
And that's all, I think? Without too many spoilers. The fandom is admittedly small online, and on Ao3, as, as of May 1st, there's one total fic for the fandom.
Hope that helped. And enjoy Tracker before Sunday night!

Such as yourself going through a self discovery journey do you think ace has? Either with gender or sexuality or both?
oooooh ok this is interesting... honestly I don't think he's ever had a gender crisis, he seems really happy being a guy and hasn't really shown a desire for anything else... I guess he could be transmasc but as cool as that would be canonically speaking I just don't think that's true for a lot of reasons. now sexuality is where it gets interesting... so we really haven't seen ppg Ace show any desire for romance outside of manipulation (playing into Buttercup's crush on him, then of course that time in the comics where he sang in the boy band and played into the You Can Fix Me... I'm A Bad Boy aspect to get his ratings up) and both of these instances were with women... BUT there's another thing. in Gorillaz, Ace also like??? grabbed Jamie's ass? I would say he's stealing his wallet but like... that's palm to cheek action there's no disputing it (ah sorry for the cropping I can't find the full image atm) of course, Gorillaz Ace is clingy, he is also shown touching Noodle and 2-D, but that was on the arm for both of them. this seems more. intimate
and this would lead me to believe that he does express a desire for men... and I do think he expresses a desire for women too! I don't see any reason you'd have a shirt with pinup girls all over it unless you like... liked girls... (suppose it could be ironically but I'm gonna go ahead and say it's not)
then, of course, he called Sedusa "hot" in Aspirations, further cementing he finds women attractive
and with all this said- I think it's safe to say that at the very least Ace is queer, there is evidence to be made(? wording?) for him liking men and women... but I don't think he would necessarily know the term bisexual, or identify as anything. I would say he struggled with his feelings for a long time... (I could go into detail why I think that is but this is already pretty long) Internalized Homophobia and all that basically, but I don't think that he ever had a moment where he was like "I am bisexual" I think he just kinda went "yeah I like a guy sometimes. so what. don't mind the ladies, either" idk it just seems like him not to worry too much about labeling himself- we know Murdoc and Noodle are actually the same way (to my knowledge 2-D and Russel have never elaborated on their sexualities) but this could also be biased because I hate assigning sexualities to characters that aren't ocs... I just find it limiting and a little bit disrespectful to unlabeled people (why do we feel the need to put everyone in boxes?) all I know is this guy likes guys and gals!

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. XCVI
It was a love story from the very beginning.
The Destiel Reunion and the Cowboys Date
(13x06)
Hello my dears! We are finally here, in TOMBSTONE fanfiction 🤣
And of course, a whole unique volume for this delicious episode.
Dean is happy now
The reunion between Cas and Dean was really very beautiful. First of all we have Dean incredulous face, he can't believe what his eyes are seeing, he can't believe Cas is alive and in front of him.
DEAN: Cas, is that really you?
SAM: No. You're – you're dead.
CASTIEL: Yeah, I was. But then I… annoyed an ancient cosmic being so much that he sent me back.
Dean is hopes, Sam reality in this dialogue. Every inch of Dean wished Cas to come back. Now that he has him there, his eyes can't believe, but he really wants. And Sam brings back the fact that Cas was definitely dead.
SAM: I don't even know what to say.
DEAN: I do. Welcome home, pal.
(Gif set credit @gabrielokun )
This hug is beautiful, Sam is still surprised, but Dean react with a hug, he missed his angel so much, he is the one "running towards him" at first. The emotion in his eyes, and the relieved and happiness to have him back. The love of his life is back, after so much suffering.
CASTIEL: How long was I gone?
DEAN: Too damn long.
(Gif set credit @shirtlesssammy )
And here we have the difference between Family Love and Romantic Love:
When Mary Winchester comes back in 12x01, she makes the same question Castiel did. But Dean's answer is different. He can calculate the exacting days and years his mother had been dead. But with Cas is different, Cas represents the love of his life, his hopes, he was suicidale after he was gone, so... That time Cas wasn't there with him, it felt like eternal. That's why he didn't calculated, Because it was TOO DAMN LONG.
And he says it with the painful remembrance in his eyes, red because he wasn't sleeping well, and because he maybe had crying so many times.
After this angsty scene, we have a huge change in Dean. He is happy now, so happy, that he can't hide it. He is shinning again. Smiling. Hopeful. And in addition, he has a cowboy adventure, even when the data they have from Dodge City isn't that clear, he drags the whole team to it.
And just like in season 5, he rewrites TFW now 2.0, describing each member enthusiastically.
DEAN: Yeah, but we should probably check it out.
CASTIEL: Wait. Really?
DEAN: Yeah, we've done more on less. Besides Dodge City's kind of, uh, kind of awesome. All right, well… two salty hunters, one half-angel kid, and a dude who just came back from the dead. Again. Team Free Will 2.0. Here we go.
Before continuing with this happy Dean, let's check a mystery, that had been solved in season 15. Why Jack had power on the Empty or how is that Cas woke up. Of course it was Jack's power over the Empty, because he will be new god, but also, it was the Profound Bond, the deep love these men feels for each other the path Jack used to find Castiel. Is so freaking romantic I just can't...
Okay, coming back now with happy Dean...
And how Sam was trying to make him confess... Something else. Noticing the change in his brother, knowing what was the cause of it, it was so blatant, that the smart little brother confirms here Dean's true feelings for the angel...
SAM: Still can't believe you brought your own hat.
DEAN: Well, I can't believe you didn't.
SAM: You're in a good mood, huh?
DEAN: Yeah. And?
Sam was waiting some time alone to ask this to him. Imagine you saw your brother in so bad shape a day ago, suicidal, not having faith or hopes in life... An now, he's happy, shining. Smiling. Laughing. What could happen? Of course, CAS is back... But is Dean ready to confess what he feels for him to his brother? Or even, to recognize his own feelings for the angel?
(Gif set credit @deansplushy )
Dean recognize Castiel is not just the win he needed, but the BIG WIN he wanted in his heart. And he stops there. He can't say more, but is not necessary to say it. Sam is an insightful person, and he gets it. He understands and confirms Dean loves Castiel in that special way. But he is not ready to "come out from the closet" . And the scene that comes after this one, is Sammy, smiling crookedly and tilting his head, Because he knows the message behind those words. He turns back and closes a closet. Pure Symbolism.
Cowboys Adventures
Let's jump now to the "angry bear" scene.
What it means? Simply and perfectly, that scene means CASTIEL WATCHING DEAN SLEEPING OR EVEN TRYING TO WAKE HIM UP. Both of it reveals CASTIEL IN DEAN'S ROOM. INTIMACY. First hint of scene we've never seen. But indirectly pointing at a canon fact. And we love it.
Also, bossy, grumpy Dean that needs his coffee to function. And Castiel just submissively obeying his angry bear and sitting back in the coach... Damm these two... Their dynamic had always been like that, but we didn't have enough of it. We didn't have enough of domestic destiel.
Then, once in the car, Castiel is wearing a cowboy hat. So, it means they had to go to buy it somewhere. Just Imagine Dean looking for a cowboy hat to fit in Cas' head.
He fixes his boyfriend, because he wants him to look even more good.
DEAN: All right, listen, these Dodge City cops aren't likely to trust big city folks, so we're gonna have to blend.
CASTIEL: Which is why you're making me wear this absurd hat.
DEAN: It's not that bad. Well, actually, yeah, it kind of is. Hang on. [Dean reaches over and removes the hat band and tosses it in the back seat] All right. That's better.
CASTIEL: Is it?
(Gif credit @grumpycas )
This scene shows us again their intimacy and how Castiel just accepts to be part of his fantasies. He is willing to play Dean's cowboys game. Because he loves him. And this means to share a good time with him. But, CAS worries about how he looks. And he peeks into the rear viewer mirror, and if you look at Dean's facial expressions, I think he's having a heart attack for Cas' proximity. Hahahahss. Oh, Dean you're so in love in this date.
DEAN: [sighs] Yeah. Look, just act like you're from Tombstone, okay?
CASTIEL: The city?
DEAN: The movie. With Kurt Russell? I made you watch it.
CASTIEL: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. The one with the guns and tuberculosis. [in a deep cowboy voice] "I'm your Huckleberry."
DEAN: Yeah, exactly. Well, it's good to have you back, Cas. All right, follow my lead. We'll fit right in.
Gif credit @agusvedder
Okay i really think here is when Dean had a heart attack, an stroke and a bonner, at the same time, I will elaborate hahahaha
Another hint of their INTIMACY, is the fact that they watch movies together! Not just that, but Dean made CAS watch Tombstone, and who know how many other movies! (More domestic Destiel)
And then... Cas goes for it, because he knows how Dean loves cowboys, and because he is a sexy, hot, angel that knows how to seduce him, not just with eye fucking... But... Using the link over Dean.
And it works... Because the hunter closes his eyes, swallows and tries not to faint right there of arousal. And then, shamelessly, he just says IT'S GOOD TO HAVE YOU BACK, CAS.
And then, is so funny to watch Cas trying to follow Dean's lead. Oh gosh... Hilarious. Rom com.
Symbolism of the rest of the episode
Dean's bisexuality
Dave and Athena were a representation of Dean's bisexuality, just as in the Rocky's bar in 14x10.
In this episode we have Toxic!Dean mirrored by the monster, Dave and Innocent/Healing!Dean mirrored by Athena.
The dynamics between them was similar to te dynamics in the Rocky's bar, in which Dean's toxicity and AU!Michael, the monster, tried to keep Dean locked inside his emotional toxic prison.
DAVE: Athena, don't you think we have a good thing here? Why do you wanna go mess it up?
ATHENA: Whatever. I have to work.
Athena wanted to improve his life, to go to school and move to a bigger city. To be better. She had dreams. Innocent, is the best part of Dean.
Another important fact is Dave wearing another's man face, a very known bandit, adding to one of the topics of this season: masks, fake identity, as a foreshadow of Dean's possession.
So Dave is Toxic!Dean, his own monsters, trying to keep him in the darkness.
The visual narrative adds to this symbolism the red ascot I'm both characters, Dave and Athena, to point out again at Dean.
Jack and Dean
We will have Jack killing an innocent man because he couldn't control his powers. As a foreshadow of when he will kill Mary not controlling his powers again.
Jack carries with a green backpack, green is Dean's color, and the backpacks means guilts.
Here is when Jack starts feeling guilt for killing a man. TFW will connect with him trying to explain that's part of the job.
All the dead people and killing the monster
When Dave comes back with Athena, she discovers he is a monster, and rejects him. Because he killed someone. This is very symbolic because in Dean's head, he sees himself as a monster, a murderer, and he hates that part of him.
So, at the end of the episode, Dean says alone, helps the sheriff, the righteous man, saves him and saves the girl, his innocence, killing the monster, his toxicity.
This episode showed us the future inner battle Dean will have to win. And it will be successful.
To Conclude:
This was a very Destiel episode, they showed us hints of how intimate Dean and CAS are with each other. And how much Dean is in love with CAS.
The happiness after Castiel's returning alive, gives Sam almost a confirmation of Dean's true feeling for Castiel, assuming he is not ready yet to get out from the closet.
There was a foreshadow of AUMichael possessing Dean, and the inner battle of 14x10.
Dave and Athena represented Dean's bisexuality and part of his personality. Keeping in mind Athena is the greek goddess of wisdom, war strategy, is the good part of Dean and innocence.
Hope you like this meta, see you in the next one!

Hi Rosy, hope all is well. It has been very interesting reading your Season 6 theories and am just wondering what you might think Madi's role will be next season? (v sorry if you have mentioned this but I don't recall coming across it) Hope you have a great weekend! xo
This is such a hard question. Even harder than the one about Bellamy, and I was working on it all day yesterday and getting distracted. Madi is hard to speculate for, because she doesn’t really have any unfinished stories, except the flame one, and we don’t know what that means yet. Or I don’t. I think that her storyline will be intimately connected with the most science fiction parts of the story. I also see Madi’s story as being connected to the final conclusion of the story, also about creating a new society.
I suspect that the AI in her head will have a lot to do with the new planet. I have two possibilities.
An AI that Becca sent with the Eligius which never suffered perverse instantiation is working just fine and will be able to connect with Madi and the flame.
An ALIEN from the planet that exists on another plane from human can pick up the signals from the Flame, and it will become relevant again that way.
I say this because the ELigius instagram posted that story where SOMEONE knew that THEY were coming. I’m assuming Eligius 3. A ship of sleeping people. And then SOMEONE saw HER. Her who? And then SOMEONE said “SHE IS.”
So basically, what I see, as the hint, is that someone on the planet, either AI or Alien being, or BOTH, knows of Madi. Her dreaming human body kept the AI active in her head, sending out messages, probably as dreams, which is the way the flame communicates with their host. As was stated by Lxa.
So. Here’s some out there speculation I have, based on my belief that there will be an ALIE on the planet, and/or nonhumanoid aliens who have an altered reality. (this spec comes from both the past mythology of Becca, Eligius, Cadogan, The Flame, AND the books/movies/shows that JR has as recommended viewing/reading, along with the Eligius tease and the BTS photos of that castle.)
I’m putting this behind the jump. Because it’s long. It’s elaborate. There is LITTLE textual proof for it, it’s based on the hints and teases and on archetypes, mythology, science fiction tropes and the basic POINT of post apocalyptic fiction, which is REBUILDING A BETTER WORLD. (or deciding that humans are to blame and it’s the end, but I think JR is going for the positive one. since the POV that presented that is dead now, because that’s where that perspective goes.)
Buckle up. And don’t hate me.
There is a FlameCLarke in Madi’s head that she is not telling Clarke about because Clarke would freak out. In fact, the more she learns to control the flame, the more it will be CLARKE who comes to her. Clarke was a commander. The flame was inside of her. The flame retains the consciousness of all the commanders, ergo, The Flame has a flameClarke along with the other commanders.
The “She” that the eligius instagram refers to is going to look like Clarke. Because if Madi is dreaming and sending out flame messages, it’s going to look like the commander she has the biggest connection to. OF COURSE IT’S CLARKE. We already know the AI will create the world and give the symbols that will best connect with the mind. This was said in the COL.
If there is an AI on the planet, it won’t have an avatar, because Becca’s boyfriend invented the avatar, and the first time Becca saw it, ALIE told her there were too many people. But the Eligius mission had already been gone, before the avatar showed up. So it does not have an avatar. BUT if it is getting signals from a Flame Avatar that looks like Clarke, it’s going to want an avatar, too. And who will it dress up like? The flame Avatar. CLARKE. So we’re going to have an ALIEClarke. Hence the acting Challenge that Eliza will have. She’ll be playing three characters. Clarke. FlameClarke and ALIEClarke.
The “Peaceful Society” won’t be peaceful. Or it will be peaceful for the chosen, because it is subjugating those who aren’t chosen. AKA repeating the sins of humanity. And because Clarke and Bellamy need to get back to the story that broke them, the genocide of MW. So I speculate that the new society will be a reflection of MW. It will again be a seemingly peaceful society that is rotten and evil to the bone. They will be subjugating the new planet and either the lower class OR the aliens of this world, because they are not human. I lean towards aliens now.
Clarke is going to choose to fight for the aliens not the humans because it is the right thing to do, even if it’s not best for their people. And she’s going to come to realize that the genocide of MW was actually what was RIGHT. That WAS the good guys, because MW would have subjugated EVERYONE on the ground and treated the ground as THEIR birthright. This was clear in canon. But she couldn’t bear what she’d done, so she made herself the bad guy and it broke her.
Clarke and Bellamy will be separated. Clarke will end up with the aliens, and so will Echo. I don’t know who else. But those BTS pictures had like 8 lounge chairs, which I suspect are where they recline when they have their flashbacks. Which won’t be hallucinations, but a kind of alien instigated spiritual journey. Thus we see Echo having memories of reapers, and Clarke having memories of Jake. We saw the actor dressed in reaper clothes, se we know that’s a flashback, and there are rumors (rumors still) of Jake being on set.
I suspect Bellamy will have to go rescue Clarke. And Echo. And whoever is with them. But, I’m going to guess that Madi will be with Bellamy. Because if Clarke is going into the wilderness she’d leave Madi to Bellamy. SO THEY are going to rescue Clarke. And everyone they love.
They will be drawn into the plight of the aliens/humans opposed to the “Peaceful Society” I suspect that the aliens will also BOND with the humans and change them, so they’re not quite human anymore.
When Madi and Bellamy get to Clarke and the rest, to save them from the savage aliens. Or maybe they’re on the aliens side idk. They will discover the real truth of Russell’s peaceful society and that it is based on bleeding the planet and aliens dry. Like MW.
All those pretty people they’ve cast that we’re only finding out about now? They’re for midseason. Those are the humans who have rebelled against the “peaceful” society and come to live with the aliens, and perhaps now have altered consciousness or bodies or both. Thus the dancers. To denote that the aliens don’t move like humans. They are otherworldly. (I don’t know if the dancers are aliens or alien/human hybrids.) That castle is the heart of the alien/human hybrid rebellion. They will have our heroes enter an altered state of consciousness. That rose window on the castle? That’s either the actual alien or a representation of it. expect CGI.
Madi will have an innate connection to the alien and/or alien/human hybrids. Because she is an alien/human hybrid. since an AI is not human. Ok, that’s a stretch. Anyway. She’s not quite human. Madi will want to fight for the aliens. But the peaceful humans want to eradicate them. They want to dominate this new world like they did the last.
Which will lead to its ultimate destruction and a repetition of the cycle of abuse and violence which Clarke and Bellamy are trying to stop. Therefore. They must do what they did with MW, and commit genocide again, this time with full knowledge that it is to save the rest of humanity and alienkind. A new planet. The universe. (OH MY GOD THEY HAVE TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE!!! Not the delinquents. Not the sky people. Not all the survivors. Not the humanity. THE UNIVERSE. ESCALATION.) Knowing all they know this time, they will be ready to do this.
I see them actually destroying the “peaceful” society so that the aliens/hybrids can thrive.
Raven will take off from the new planet, after destroying Russells fake peaceful people, with Clarke and Bellamy and their people, leaving they human/alien society behind to start a new world. This will be the third time she takes off from a planet, and this time it WON’T be on fire. Because she said “just once I’d like to take off from a planet that’s not on fire.”
HOWEVER.
Don’t hate me.
Madi is going to choose to stay behind with the alien/human hybrids. Because she has the flame. They need a leader. They need the flame to help them BUILD a new society. And she feels like they are her people. THIS is what the flame was created for. To end the violence of the human past, stop ALIE’s supremacy, and create a new world.
Clarke losing Madi to a new world is heartbreaking but also mythic in nature. The child of her spirit is a sacrifice to healing and redeeming humanity. The son that died for our sins? She won’t die, but she might as well have,
Because Clarke and Bellamy will be going back to earth, 200 years after they left it, to FIX WHAT THEY BROKE. To be responsible for humanity’s destruction of the earth. Lincoln said that we’re all responsible for our monster when we let it out, and leaving the earth behind is NOT being responsible. Moving on to a new planet is COLONIALIZATION. They have to go home.
So Clarke and Bellamy will take humanity home to start over on a now green planet, cleansed of humanity (there might be some survivors and might be giant sandworms frankly but that’s another story.)
And Madi will stay on the planet two suns to raise a new sentient species in peace and wisdom.
Octavia will go with Clarke and Bellamy, because she also represents the child, HUMANITY, the one that almost destroyed itself with darkness, but will be redeemed and healed. Symbolically she represents humanity on earth while Madi represents the NEW society. Both are important. But CLarke and Bellamy need to guide humanity and let go of the human/alien hybrids to make their own way, rather than be colonialists and rule over them.
And ECHO will stay with Madi, to be her protector, but also because she feels a kinship and a sense of belonging with the alien/hybrids because she TOO was a slave to the azgeda and gave up everything she ever wanted for them. This leads us back to Echo’s backstory, and her story which has been stated to be about loyalty, family, and belonging. She will choose Madi and the alien/human hybrids as where she belongs. She will get the free choice, not circumstances of survival and not being taken as a child and raised into it.
I do not know if all this will happen in season 6. This might be a season 6-7 story. Or it could just be season 6 and s7 is them going home to the earth, and building a new society. idk.
OKAY. So that’s my spec for Madi. I cannot separate it from the main story or from Clarke and Bellamy’s hero’s journeys or the rebuilding of humanity. Or the mythology of The 100 or the cyclical story structures, which actually means it’s probably more likely to go something like this. Because different story elements are feeding into it and it’s not isolated from the other stories.
As you can see, I’ve made a lot of off the wall claims and predictions. And I could be wrong about any one of them or all of them. You take hints and interpret them, but you can interpret them the wrong way. So here I am. Out on a limb with more of rosy’s patented “crazy” spec. Just be aware that I also predicted the cryosleep solution before season 4 even aired. And Exodus theory/leaving Eden, before season 5 aired.
So I might not be wrong with my crazy crack theories. They aren’t crack. They’re scifi. I’ve spent nearly 50 years consuming scifi. It’s in my bones. Geek child of geek parents. My first cats were named Kirk and Spock. I am geek. hear me meow. lol.

Steven Moffat Appreciation Day 2017: DWM Production Notes
With the end of the Moffat-era we are not just losing Steven’s writing talent on the screen, but also in the monthly DWM column in which he answers questions from readers of the magazine, sometimes serious, sometimes less so. Here are some of my favourites:
Is the Doctor's accent innate or part of the TARDIS' translation system? While people and lizards from Earth hear the Doctor speak with a Scottish accent, would beings from other planets hear him speak with a totally different accent?
The Scottish accent is prevalent throughout the universe because it is so sexy. That's one hell of an evolutionary advantage.
How do you think the other Masters would react to Missy if they ever met?
Oh, I've given it thought! Surely there's fan fiction already? There must be - to your work, if not! The impossible one, of course, is the Delgado/Gomez simmer-fest - but oh, imagine! Hooded gazes at dawn! Sneers like sword slashes! Sexy prowls, cat-like circling! In no time flat, a country cottage, three kids and a Volvo.
One summer evening, as they both puff away in the cigar gazebo, watching the children (identical girl triplets, dead white and levitating) rebuilding the lawn mower into a nuclear reactor using Master Plan Q, the question inevitably arises...
THE MASTER: My dear, you've never exactly told me who you are.
MISSY: You're always so busy, trying to drain the world's oceans, or rob banks with dinosaurs -
THE MASTER: I just want the kids to have a future.
MISSY: Then why do you keep trying to blow up the planet?
THE MASTER Must we always take this attitude to my work?
MISSY: Or freeze the polar ice caps.
THE MASTER: That was a simple administrative error.
MISSY: Don't you think there might be a clue in my name?
THE MASTER: Missy?
MISSY: Tiny bit of a clue?
THE MASTER: I have long suspected there was some cunning word play involved. Some abtruse hint as to your true identity, of some fiendish complexity and subtlety that it eludes even my mighty Time Lord brain. Is it short for Mistress, though?
MISSY: Yep.
IN THE GARDEN, THE TRIPLETS OBSERVE THE TWO CIGAR TIPS GLOWING MORE BRIGHTLY FOR A MOMENT IN THE SHADOWS OF THE GARDEN.
THE MASTER: My dear, do you think the triplets ever get lonely?
AND FROM THE HAPPY HOME, THE REST IS SILENCE. EXCEPT FOR THE NIGHTLY SING-A-LONG OF THE ADDAMS FAMILY.
In Kill the Moon Clara is very upset at the prospect of killing a big chicken. Yet in The Time of the Doctor she is seen gleefully roasting a turkey! How can she care so much for one type of poultry and so little for another?
Oh, for God's sake! It's not a turkey inside the moon, is it? It's a giant, pregnant space dragon and some spiders. Have you no grasp of physics?! Has Doctor Who taught you nothing?!
RUSSELL T DAVIES asks: I love your list in DWM 482 of the Doctor's many wives. Did you ever think we'd be having that conversation, 10 years ago? But... what's this? His marriage to Queen Elizabeth the First was unconsummated? But, but, but... in The End of Time Part One, the Tenth Doctor arrives on the Ood-Sphere to greet his old friend Ood Sigma with the words, "Got married. That was a mistake. Good Queen Bess. And let me tell you, her nickname is no longer... ahem." So, what does that mean, boss? What can it possibly mean?? Steven, what does it MEAN??? Thank you.
Oh for God's sake. PAY ATTENTION. You've gone soft up there in Manchester. Practically tofu, I'd say. Probably all that lazing about, never writing any episodes for me, even though I wrote six for you. Yes, SIX. Actually, no, SEVEN. Time Crashcounts too - and it was for charity. But never mind, oh no, I'll just type on and on and neglect my children, that's fine.
Okay, the facts. I said the marriage was unconsummated - and so it was. You saw for yourself in The Day of the Doctor - he ran straight off after the ceremony. Would we have put that on television if it wasn't true? But I never said - not once, not ever - that the relationship was unconsummated!
Yes, Russell! I went there. Even as you gasp and clutch the furniture for support, I am writing in the pages of Doctor Who Magazine about pre-marital shenanigans! I realise you've probably never heard of such unsanctified naughtiness - glancing at your resume, I see you write mainly about fruit and veg for Channel 4 - but it does go on, you know. Well, outside of Manchester.
So there you are. You may sleep again. The Doctor's boast in The End of Time (oh, and thanks for that title, just before I took over) and my statement that his marriage to Elizabeth was unconsummated are in no way contradictory. True fact! Accept my True Face. Back away in shame at your wrongness.
Actually, write me a story, and we'll say no more about it.
I read an article that said there was a TARDIS flooding scene in an episode of the 2012 series that was cancelled due to Karen Gillan being unable to swim. Could you elaborate on that further, please?
We decided not to drown Karen. There was a meeting. We voted.
Do you have any plans in store for the Cyber-Brigadier? Or will he just be left in limbo, protecting Kate wherever she goes?
Oh God, can you imagine. It's the spin-off: "My Dad's A Cyberman!"
KATE: Dad, please don't sit in my office. CYBERBRIG: Just sorting out a few things for you... KATE: Really, we're fine. CYBERBRIG: You've got far too many people. All you need is a Sergeant, maybe an occasional Captain, and a nice family car for you all to drive around in. Keeps the Earth perfectly safe! KATE: It's changed days, Dad. CYBERBRIG: And why don't have a big sign outside - UNIT HQ, with your name on it? Does you good to see your name on a big sign. KATE: Well, we are supposed to be a top secret organisation. CYBERBRIG: Yes, yes - you put 'Top Secret' on the sign. Have I taught you nothing about security?! And for goodness' sake, why do you have all these women about the place? How much tea do you need? KATE: They're scientists. CYBERBRIG: Scientists?! Have we been infiltrated? Evacuate the building, I'll lure them into a nuclear reactor. KATE: They work here. CYBERBRIG: They what?! You only need one scientist, Kate. A funny one, with silly clothes, that's the ticket. Give him a tiny little office and a table, he'll be perfectly happy. KATE: I'm a scientist. Science leads, that's what you taught me. CYBERBRIG: Exactly! Science leads! But only if you let it. Round them all up, put them in booths, waterboard any trouble-makers - KATE: Dad, you're getting excited again! Your moustache has slipped. CYBERBRIG: Oh, no, has it? It's this face, it's a bit slippery - like all aliens. I say, Kate - do you think people know my moustache isn't real? KATE: I think they always did.
Since the earliest days, whenever we viewers follow the Doctor into the TARDIS, he seems to take quite some time getting to the console before the TARDIS takes off. But when we stay outside, the door barely has time to close before dematerialisation occurs. What's your in-universe explanation for this quirk?
Oh, you and me both! I've worried about that for years. And in fact, decades before I got anywhere near Doctor Who, I came up with an answer. It's not in the show - it is not canonical - but I offer it up.
The TARDIS knows the future. Or rather, the TARDIS makes no distinction between past, present and future - for any time machine, time is all one long event stream, hanging there in causality, unmoving and unchanging. In other words the TARDIS already knows when its connection to real time and space will no longer be necessary, in any given part of the event stream. So as the Doctor and friends move towards the console, in the world outside the doors, the TARDIS has already fast-forwarded to the take-off the Doctor is about to perform.
Any good? Got something better? All head canons are equal!
How come the Doctor allowed River Song to go freely with her vortex manipulator but he kept disabling Jack's?
Every time he grabs River's wrist, it all goes very wrong.
[In Heaven Sent] who put the chalk marks around the missing paving slab, and who buried the slab in the ground? Was it whoever created the trap?
Oh, this is... wrong somehow. I figured out, in detail, how the Doctor's first few trips round the castle worked, but I deliberately buried it. I wanted atmosphere and mystery: for us to be trapped in the Doctor's nightmare, never sure what to trust. And I particularly liked (and still like) the idea that everyone would have a different theory about the logic. Peter Capaldi has one version, Rachel Talalay has another, and in a moment you'll have mine. But mystery and discussion is better, I swear.
So. What follows is not canonical. It's just the best I could work with from what the Doctor told me. Frankly, and with all my heart, you're better off not reading what comes next. Never trust answers - they're the opposite of conversation.
Okay...
The first time round the castle, the Doctor is there for many years - because there is no clue leading him to room 12. He's ancient by the time he understands that room 12 is important. It's a very old man who starts punching the wall...
After a few thousand years of this, he realises he's going too slowly. He needs to get the next version of himself into room 12 faster. But how to leave a message in a recycling puzzle box that a man like him would ever trust?
One ancient version of the Doctor doesn't punch the wall. He totters back out of the chamber before the veiled creature can arrive, and scratches the words 'I AM IN 12' in every nook and cranny he can find. He chooses that message because it sounds a little like a cry for help, and that always appeals to him. The next Doctor might even be fooled into thinking it's Clara. Oh, the cruelty of the Doctor to himself!
He knows that some of those hidden messages might just survive, because he knows the castle reset isn't perfect - the dust in the teleport room, the skulls in the water, the way the portrait of Clara he painted (of course it was him, the soppy old fool) has aged. Suspecting that objects moved from rooms, or added to them, sometimes can resist the reset, he pulls a scratched-on flagstone from the kitchen floor and buries it in the garden (later Doctors add the details of the arrows and the spade). It's this message - one of only two that manage to survive - that he always finds. The loop shrinks, the Doctor is younger as he punches the wall, and the Time Lords tremble as the storm grows closer.
The other message that survived? In my head - and I suppose, only there - 'I AM IN 12' is also written on the back of Clara's portrait. The trouble is, the Doctor draws too much strength from her smile ever to turn her face to the wall...
There are many more and I recommend to read them all. You can find a lot of them on reddit or on here. I really hope old chibs keeps this up, but I know it will never be as glorious as the answers of Steven “Master Selfcest Fanfic Writer” Moffat.
