I think too many people, when it comes to election cycles, make posts directed at the reader that are ultimately personal rant posts that should be inside thoughts, because making them outside thoughts actively harms the ends that they desire to achieve.
If one is not ready to address the people they are trying to persuade as complex and intelligent individuals with real, human, and logical reasons to believe the way that they do; if one is not willing to treat them with empathy; if one's words are designed to treat them as a punching bag instead of as a comrade to recruit;
One should kindly draft the post.
Taking out one's personal aggression and, ultimately, fear, on people who are, frankly, NOT the ones responsible for the shit situation, are just as scared and responding differently, but are an easier and more accessible target than the people actually responsible who are getting paid tax dollars to make sure this isn't a mess? Is morally indefensible.
Furthermore, it is not helping anyone but the extremists they push moderates away to. If someone has something to say about disenfranchised voters that is not kind and is not listening to and validating them as part of its purpose, they are ensuring the results that they fear.
When one is incapable of maintaining continuous empathy and respect in their bid to persuade others, they should cease attempting to sway people on key issues until they are in the right headspace or learn the skills necessary to do so without causing messes that will take other activists years to clean up.
