As a preface, I'm coming at this from the perspective of someone who watches the National Hockey League (NHL) and the ECHL. I don't really pay attention to the International Hockey Federation (IHF), and I have no experience with the English Ice Hockey League (EIHL) aside from knowing they exist. The hockey culture I will be referencing, therefore, is going to be North American by default.

I was asked about this topic recently, and, being bored out of my mind, I felt inspired to use it as a starting point for a new series! I hope to share my current headcanons about the personality types of the Digimon Adventure universe’s main characters, according to different personality systems: astrology, Enneagram, MBTI... feel free to suggest any other typologies you’d like me to explore in the future.

In this first post, I’ll try to explain which of the Sun Sign personality archetypes I find more likely and interesting for each character. Consider this this an update of my previous headcanons, post-tri. (and post LAST EVOLUTION Kizuna).

Note: Every single headcanon is highly subjective and even I will probably change my mind about it. This is only a PROPOSAL.

Canon Clues 

Although there are no official birthdays for the characters, several Adventure materials have provided “goalposts” where we can fit some characters’ birthdays. I strive to make my HCs as canon-compliant as possible, so it’s important for me to take this info into account.

Miyako is stated to be a Gemini in 02.

The official synopsis of tri. Indicates that Taichi is 17 years old during the series, suggesting the has an April-June birthday.

Sure, you’re free to ignore this little nugget if you prefer, but I personally like to think there’s a reason they mentioned Taichi’s age explicitly — something they never did before. They also never mentioned the explicit age of any of the other characters.

Funnily enough, the DALEK official website and novel lists the character’s ages during the events of the film. Since the film takes place in the summer of 2010, taking those numbers at face-value would require us to believe all 8 characters have birthdays in the first half of the year. 

This contradicts the explicit on-screen information about Jou’s age in the original series (see below). 

I’m proposing this should be interpreted as their “average” ages, rather than precise ages at this specific moment in time — after all, in Kizuna it’s more difficult to identify the characters by their school year, like they always did before.

Sora’s birthday is canonically before the events of Our War Game. The film takes place during the spring holidays, which typically begin around the third week of March.

Sora having a March birthday is so universally accepted by Japanese fans that it’s even on her Wikipedia page. I wouldn’t be surprised if more recent writers took that information into account, post-OWG, and portrayed her accordingly. 

Notice that Pisces is only the more likely option considering the canon timeline and Sora’s personality — Aries (late March) and Aquarius (mid-February) could fit as well. Hence why I consider this choice [semi-canon].

Jou, who is a 6th-grader, mentions he’s 11 years old during Adventure. This suggest his birthday would be after August 1.

Ken is supposed to be 9 years old in August 2000, when he’s in Year 3, suggesting he has an April-August birthday.

This is different from other guidebooks which only list the characters “average” ages, because this lists Ken’s precise age during a specific event.

I believe Ken being exactly 9 years old went to the Digital world is deliberate, since Osamu is stated to be 3 years older than Ken, hadn’t yet turned 12 when he died.

Again, except for Miyako, Sora, and Jou birthdays, I can understand why fans chose to ignore any of this.

Personal Notes

My method isn’t about finding a putative “Official / True Birthday” — that never existed, at least for the Adventure eight. It’s about finding birthdays that work within the limitations of canon (see previous section). 

My HCs are based on the personality / character archetypes represented by the the zodiac signs. In theory, any Chosen Child could be understood as representing a specific symbolical archetypes.

The problem is that the Adventure characters are quite complex and often deconstruct traditional archetypes. This explains why it’s so hard for fans to agree on which sign they are supposed to represent. I should also note that anime series seem to understand astrological archetypes slightly differently from the Western mainstream tradition, which explains why typical anime zodiac signs sometimes feel a bit “off”. 

Nevertheless, some archetypes are so strong that most of the fandom seems to have reached a consensus: Jou/Virgo and Koushirou/Aquarius, for example. Then you have textbook examples of archetypes like Gemini/Miyako (unsurprisingly canon), Taichi/Aries, and Hikari/Pisces. But even there is a lot of room for disagreement and subjective interpretation!

The 02 writers clearly intended Daisuke to symbolise Fire, Miyako Air, Iori Earth and, due to the Dark Ocean connection, Ken Water. In fact, it’s super easy to place those four characters into any traditional 4-group personality types, such as the four temperaments, Jung’s types, blood types, ABCD personality, etc. 

My HCs respect this, and ended up creating two polar opposites within the team: Daisuke/Miyako (mutable) and Ken/Iori (cardinal).

It’s tempting to ascribe 12 main characters = 12 signs, but post-tri. I’m inclined to do something different and not put myself into such a limiting framework.

For this reason I repeat some signs, and I don’t have any Taurus character (sorry!).

My MAIN innovative choice is that I suspect Taichi and Yamato might represent the same sun sign.

Now, I understand this is an extremely controversial opinion. It isn’t a possibility I thought about until quite recently.

But Taichi and Yamato being “different but the same / two sides of the same coin” is incredibly well represented if both of them correspond to the Aries personality archetype. 

After all, they’re the leaders, the heroes, the Knights in shining armor. This explains their incredible similarities, despite superficial differences. as well as their love-hate dynamic: the rivalry, the union, the way they complement and balance each other out in an almost instinctive way.

Here are some examples of the Aries/Aries dynamic from the literature... 

Both of you are independent individuals and you don’t like feeling “owned” by anyone. Neither of you can tolerate being dominated or bossed by anyone else, so you probably make your own decisions, and direct your own lives. You respect one another’s autonomy, and a relationship that is based on constant togetherness and dependency wouldn’t suit either of you. Sometimes, however, there is too much emphasis on individualism rather than on being close and nurturing the relationship. You both have proud egos, and are sensitive to criticism. Almost inevitably you will compete with each other, and in small doses this can be invigorating. But it easily becomes nasty, and one of you is likely to get hurt. If you’ve ever seen two rams locking horns, you know what I mean! You either respect one another immensely or detest one another – rarely anything in between. (X)

If your relationship has been built on the basis that you are equals, the fire element produces tremendous vision and industriousness. Your combined power and effort could well be a force to be reckoned with — but again, only if you both learn to subdue your own ego in the service of each other. Remember, you can’t always be right. You need to try hard to see things from each other’s perspective; this will help the two of you become a great partnership over time. (x)

When Mars clashes with Mars, the result can be full-scale war, with all flags flapping, bravely and colorfully. Occasional flare-ups are bound to occur when these two are thrown into close, daily proximity, without the relief of some separateness in their association. But there will also be some glorious Highs to offset these Lows. (...)  It's been said that Aries people have a way about them. They do. Their own way. Yet, despite that sometimes antagonistic Martian exterior, they'll sense each other's desperate need to be appreciated and liked. When they get together, they may struggle for leadership, but the experience will supply some well-needed lessons. The shock of living with someone - or being around some- one - as innocently thoughtless, selfish and aggressive as one's self, is sure to soften any battering Ram, although there may be a few scars to show for the les- sons in living thus mastered. Aries hearts always carry more scars than the Rams ever show, or openly discuss. (x)

Sounds familiar, doesn't it? The more you read, the more this pattern begins to make sense. Try to watch the Dark Masters arc, the Agumon-is-kidnapped mini arc, tri., and even Kizuna with this possibility in mind, and you’ll understand what I mean.

Sure, order to accept this theory, you have to understand Yamato as a more atypical reserved / sensitive Aries (influenced by a Cancer Moon, perhaps?) and Taichi as a more “pure” Arien type. Yamato is more like a baby lamb, right? (don’t tell it to his face).

You can make a very strong argument for Leo!Taichi (that was my initial HC as well) or Yamato as almost anything else. I wouldn’t disagree. But why not come up with a fresh perspective to explain these two? 

Oh, and in case you’re curious, their (canon) Japanese Zodiac is also the same: Dragon, the direct equivalent to Aries.

A note about tri.: typing Maki and Daigo seemed straightforward enough. Maki is the stereotypical Scorpio antagonist, and Goggle Boy Daigo’s partner evolved into a literal lion.

I couldn’t resist the idea of making Meiko a Libra, considering her digimon partner is literally the Libra and Meiko is the 9th member of the group. But  personality probably fits other signs better — it’s very tempting to type her a Virgo, the polar opposite of Hikari. She could also be the missing Taurus element (Mei as the literal May Queen). 

The truth is... I can’t decide!

Disclaimer: There is zero scientific evidence for astrology and, as far as I’m concerned, it’s only interesting as a tool to analyze fictional characters in symbolic /archetypal terms. My headcanons are based on extensive reading about astrology, its symbolism and psychological profiles; I’m happy to share my sources (they’re not from pop astrology). But I’m also aware of the Barnum effect. We are all biased; there are no right or wrong options. Everyone’s conflicting headcanons are equally valid.

Feel free to ask questions or request more in-depth explanations for my suggestions, but FFS don’t start arguing with me and insisting I’m “wrong” based on other people’s equally subjective and disputable headcanons.

This here is going to be the "prologue" for every BTS Dog Hybrid-Fanfic I'll write! In here I'll explain to you, how my "dog hybrid universe" will work. Some things are similar to the common Hybrid AU Headcanons, but there are also some things they'll be very different to you.

That's why I explained everything so detailed in here in the hope y'all will understand what I mean! 😅😂

Because I think I have to overwork this prologue here and there again for some details, I’ll write my last update down.

Once upon a time where everything started...

The Evolution🌱

When the evolution of the human being began several million years ago, there was not only one single line of development, two ethnic groups of the human species developed almost completely independently of each other.

There were the "completely normal" human ethnicity and then the whim of the nature came up with something very unique. Even today, the researchers are pretty much groping in the dark as how the evolution led to the origin of the hybrid human ethnic group and how two genera that hardly related to each other were able to merge.

But this is how it happend and now 35%-40% of the hybrid human enthic group (also just called "hybrids") live on the earth beside the approximately 60%-65% purely human world population. They are capable of changing their shape and shifting into the form of so-called wolves and dogs.

The special thing about this phenomen is that there doesn't exist a pure species of wolves/dogs like the "normal" human. The hybrids are the only one of their shape-shifting species.

Just as the homo erectus is the basis for the human evolution, the Wolf hybrid represents the beginning of the hybrid evolution. Over the millennia, a wide variety of different "hybrid breeds" have developed from it, right up to today's modern domestic Dog Hybrids.

The civilization🏘

For the most of the time of their evolution, human and hybrid developed as a ethnicity independently from each other. Only a few hundred years ago, human and hybrid decided to build a civilisation together and benefit from each other's abilities.

For example, hybrids have much sharper senses than humans and because of their ability to shift into their their animal form, they can defend themselves much better against various enemies. Especially in the military, security services, police and criminal cases, drug control, food control, diseases, therapy, rescuring peoples etc.

Their excellent skills have improved the society's social live so much more.

However there are also some unpleasant sides. The animalistic habits, behaviours and instincts play a particularly important role, when they haven't learned to control them from a young age. For example it's not always the case that young hybrids learned properly during childhood and puberty to control their emotions and their shape shifting.

Unfortunately, it still happens sometimes that hybrids cannot deal with their fear or anger and then shifting into their hybrid shape to attack and hurt humans out of their primal instincts.

That's why living together is sometimes still a challenge and there have been up's and down's in this relationship ever since. At some points in the history it was even on the verge of both ethnic groups whiping each other out. But since 300 years the relationship between these two ethnic groups has been going relatively well, even though of course the society isn't perfect yet. Especially because tue hybrids are still a minority in contrast to the human population.

Hybrid Sexuality and their Behaviours❤

The topic of the hybrid sexuality and with it, the somewhat complicated sexual behaviours of them are still a little bit difficult for the human society to understanding and respecting it.

Young hybrids experiences puperty in a similar way like human teens do. Around the age of 15-16 years both, female and male hybrids get their first so-called "primal heat" phase. With the start of this first heat phase they reach now the sexual maturity. It's based on the animalistic nature of their hybrid genetics and lasts for about a week.

The Heat-Phases🐺📅

Female and male hybrids get such a heat phase for two or three times a year (depending in their hybrid breed). In these phases the sexual desire of both gender is very high and the urge to reproduce is extremely strong.

During this week, male and female hybrids should avoid meeting the opposite gender to prevent themselves from an unwanted pregnancy. Male hybrids can smell immediately when a female hybrid in their environment is in heat and their primal sexual instincts react instantly on the changed scent.

It costs them a lot of discipline and concentration not to rush to the female hybrid and try to get her pregnant.

It's very similar the other way around too, the primal instinct to get pregnant takes up the whole mind of the female and both gender can't think "humanely" and rational in these phases anymore.

Especially when it's their crush or even their mate it's hardly possible for a male hybrid to think clear and logically. Romantic feelings are mixed up with primal sexual needs, which is why couples who don't want pups yet should spent their primal heat separated from the other.

After the first primal heat, two to three weeks later the menstruation of the female hybrid set in. The period of hybrids is very short with 1-2 days menstruating compared to human females. In addition, once in a month hybrid girls also has the "ovulation heat" which lasts around two or three days.

Heat suspressants that are harmless to their health have already been developed for this specific heat. The ovulation takes place nevertheless, but these medications suspress their sexual desire and the sweet, aphrodisiac-like change in their scent is also suspressed to avoid attracting the attention of other hybrids. There also exist special birth control medication for female hybrids. Except for the primal and ovulation heat phase they can take birth control pills too.

Male hybrids are a pain in the ass when they are in their primal heat. They shouldn't be with their female hybrid or vixen mate in this specific week (they “shouldn't” be with their mate in their shared apartment, when they still live separated from each other, the following risk wouldn’t be that high) because sometimes they can't resist the urge to steal and hide the ovulation heat suspressants and birth control pills of their mate. This instinctive impulse comes from the secret hope that their mate could become fertile again during their own primal heat and are able to impregnate them. Just the thought that their mate could give birth to his pups drives some hybrids crazy.

But this extreme urge to impregnate their mate is only in their own primal heat phases so unusual strong.

If neither of them is in a heat phase it's usually sufficient to satisfy the sexual needs of the partner and only have dirty talk about impregnation.

There are special condoms for hybrids available but the majority of the hybrid population (males and females as well) prefer birth control pills for females because of their impregnation instinct. However, condoms are occasionally used as a necessary contraceptive when hybrids have sex during the ovulation heat.

Thanks to the suspressants, the male partner can't smell their ovulation heat, so the extreme impregnation instinct doesn't occur. During the short time period of the menstruation, female hybrids are not fertile.

How strong the impregnation instinct really is depends mostly in the character of the hybrid, but sometimes it's also a little bit influenced by their hybrid breed.

So far, no harmless contraceptives for the primal heat could been created until now. Although there are illegal drugs that can suppress the primal heat, but these drugs dangerously disrupt the hormone balance of a hybrid. So after taking the drug for a longer time, they could become infertile or, in the worst case, could die from an overdosis.

Hybrid-Rights🛡

Therefore, in the equal rights of both ethnic groups and taking into account the special needs of the hybrids, the government has passed the law, that every hybrid has the right to take leave from work or other appointements during their primal heat. This is also a protection for hybrids from sexual assault and rape.

Since the first long-term rapprochement of the two ethnic groups, it has also become apparent that both ethnic groups can reproduce children with each other, resulting in half-hybrids, so-called "vixen".

"Vixen"🐶👣

The child of a hybrid and a human is a half hybrid, called vixen. Up to half of their genotype consists of hybrid and half of human genetics. Since hybrid genetics are not predominant here, they are not capable of shifting into their hybrid form, but they are able to procreate fully formed hybrid pups together with a hybrid.

Vixen also have stronger senses than humans, but they don't match the abilities of real hybrids. In addition, they may have certain physical characteristics and personal traits/behaviours of their hybrid breed.

Like humans and hybrids, vixen reach their sexual maturity at puberty, a special feature is that they will get into a heat-phase twice a year too, for around 3-4 days.

Female vixen gets her first heat-phase around the age of 13 to 14 years, where upon her first period should occur two or three weeks later.

The menstrual cycle is not really different from that from a human girl/woman. At the time of their monthly ovulation they don't have a ovulation-heat, which is based on their human genetics.

Nevertheless, when they're ovulating they notices it by themself and hybrids smell the slightly changed, a little bit sweeter scent too. Sometimes also perceive vixen with a very sensitive nose notice the smell of a ovulating vixen too, for example hunting dog vixen.

For some years now female and male vixen have also had the legal right to take leave during the heat phase. This must be taken by account of their comany where they work.

The genetic dispensation📊

Hybrid = 100% hybrid genetics

Human = 100% human genetics

Partner A (50% genetics) x Partner B (50% genetics) = Baby (100% genetics)

▪Hybrid x Hybrid = Hybrid pups (100% hybrid)

▪Hybrid x Human = male/female Vixen (50% hybrid/50% human)

▪Hybrid x Vixen = Hybrid pups (75% hybrid/25% human)

▪Vixen x Vixen = Vixen (50% hybrid/ 50% human)

▪Vixen x Human= Human/Vixen Baby (25% hybrid/ 75% human) [second generation vixen]

▪2nd generation vixen x Hybrid= Vixen Baby/Hybrid (62,5% hybrid/37,5% human)

▪2nd generation vixen x human = human/ 3rd generation vixen (6,25% hybrid/93,75 human)

▪...etc.

The more generations of vixen there are and the more there are mixed up with human genetics, the less likely a hybrid child would be born.

Up to 70% of hybrid genetics always result a fully formed hybrid (hybrid genes are dominant and prevail against the resessive human genes, the genetic of the child/pup will turn into 100% hybrid genetics again during the fertilization. This based on the not yet fully clarified so-called phenomen of the self-preservation of the hybrid-ethnicity).

Between 50%-70% of Hybrid genetics can succeed hybrid pups as well as vixen babys (probability depends on the genetics of the parents, the lower the hybrid genetics, the more likely a vixen could be born).

It's common that between 60%-70% of hybrid genetics it's more likely to have a hybrid baby. Between 50%-60% the probability decreases increasingly, so that between 50%-55% mostly only vixen are born.

Nevertheless exceptions confirm the rule!

For example:

2nd generation vixen x hybrid = First pregnancy a vixen baby could be born and in the second pregnacy a hybrid pup (62,5% hybrid/ 37,5% human).

With less than 50% the offspring are only Vixen, depending on the genetic distribution several generations. With each generation the hybrid characteristics and their sensitive senses decreases. In addition, their heat time shortened, the symptoms and the scent becomes weaker until they finally appear only sporadically and/or disappear completely.

That's also why so many "breed hybrid" vixen are possible too.

For example:

Golden Retriever! Vixen x Poodle! Vixen = Goldendoodle! Vixen Baby

or

3rd generation German Shepherd! vixen x Husky! vixen = Gerberian Shepsky! vixen

and then:

Gerberian Shepsky! vixen x Alaskan Malamute! hybrid = Gerberian Shepsky Malamute! hybrid pups

If in the area between 50%-70% hybridal genetics results in a hybrid children, their genetics also turns into 100% hybrid genetics too. However, the probabilitly of having a fully formed hybrid pup when both parents have 50%-60% hybrid genetics together is very rare. Mostly the result will be a vixen baby, because there is too many human genetics involved.

[To be honest the only thing you really need to know is, that all Vixen! Reader are first generation vixen and they're able to have fully formed hybrid pups with the boys! ...I just love it to make complicated xD]

Scenting and Marking💋

Male and female hybrids as well have the habit of marking their relationship partner and their children/pups "as theirs" (sometimes even very close friends as an evidence of trust and affection).

They usually rub their head against their loved one or kiss/lick their partners neck to transmit their own scent to them.

An another possible was would be the visible marking with lovebites and hickeys, where they also transmit their scent on this person at the same time.

How strong the urge for scenting and marking is, depends individually on the hybrid.

Vixen also have a slight form of this instinct, but that's only a stronger way of attachment and the intense habit of marking their partner with hickeys.

Mating♾

"Mating" is a ritual of hybrids when they choose a certain person to become their life partner (it's the hybrid way to marry someone). Mostly this happen while they have sex together. Then they bite their partner gently in the area between neck and shoulder. During the process their canines lengthen so that they look very similar to the fangs of their hybrid form and so they inject their own scent into the body of their partner.

Now the partner adopted the particular scent nuance of his hybrid and each hybrid will be able to smell that you two are mates now.

A mated person has become uninteresting to other hybrids (unless a hybrid are searching for a fight...).

Since then the freshly mated partner no longer arouses the interest of other hybrids, the hybrid partner usually becomes much calmer, jealousy decrease moreand more or disappears completely.

Scenting and Marking is then only used as a evidence of love and affection, because it's not really "needed" anymore.

When a male hybrid mated a female human, the hybrid can smell the ovulation days of her cycle. Either then his mate takes scent suspressants for female humans or she will get pregnant doubtlessly in his next primal heat. ;)

Knotting🐺❤

The penis of a hybrid in his human form doesn't differ in any way from that of humans. Mostly there just larger and thicker than the average human cock size. However, a certain area of ​​their shaft, short before the base of the cock is reached, swells during the ejaculation. This swelling is called a knot and prevents the penis from sliding out of the vagina for the next 20 minutes. This phenomenon is intended to ensure that the female is definitely impregnated.

(This only works when they doesn't use birth control.)

While mastubation and the following ejaculation the knot swells slightly too. But when there is nothing around the shaft (like usually the vaginal canal), the knot doesn’t has anything to keep hold of and swells down really quickly again. 

Pregnancy and Birth 🤰🤱

Hybrid pups are usually slightly larger than human babies. Female Hybrids are able to give birth to twin pups or even triplet pups because they have a wider and therefore anatomically more advantageous pelvis for pregnacy and birth.

Vixen also have a slightly wider pelvis than female humans and can give birth to a single pup or twin pups as well.

Female humans always get pregnant with one vixen baby and they're a little bit bigger than the normal, average human babies too. But that's not a problem, they're just like a big human baby.

Female Humans are as usual nine month pregnant, female Vixen eight months and Hybrids only seven month. Most of the time female hybrids give birth to their babies like vixen and humans, in their human form. Except they're in a enormous stress situation they feel instinctively safer when they give birth in their hybrid form.

After delivery, the hybrid pups immediately shift back into their human form.

When a female hybrid transform while pregnancy or giving birth, the embryos in her womb shift at the same time with her body together.

The first months 👶🐾

Hybrid pups, vixen and human babies need about the same time to grow up and become full upgrown adults. So the hybrid pups aren't any different in their human form to vixen or human babies.

But there is still one small difference, hybrid pups already starts crawling around five months and they shifting their shape dir the first time of their life between the 6th and the 8th month.

Just as for human parents the first step of their baby is a very important moment, for hybrid pups parents it's the first shape shifting of their pups. Because then they see for the first time the fur colour and the physical characteristics of the hybrid form of their pup. Their hybrid shape accords to a five week old dog puppy.

From this point on, the hybrid form adapts to the growing pace of their human form.

Childhood and Teens🎒📚

Hybrid children have to learn how to control their shape shifting. Especially at the age of a toddler is the time when they shift unpredictable. In Kindergarten and elementary school it's often the case that they notices their shape shifting too late or are distracted while shifting back into their human form, so that they get stuck in a kinda "half-transformation" for a short time. In this "half-transformation" only their ears shifted into the hybrid form and their tail comes out.

When they get into middle school, all hybrids should have learned to control the shifting and the emotions they're connected/caused their shifting.

Why the Half-Hybrids are called "Vixen" (I know it's usually a word for a female fox). But this was the translation for the german word "Fähe" (means female foxes and sometimes also wolves!) and I kinda like this word. is there a muse that you wish gets more attention? Honestly? Dove. There are a couple of people who've said they love reading about her, and I'm so absolutely eternally delighted for them, too deeply appreciative for words! A couple friends I met via rping her, and a couple friends I met in Certain discord servers, but that's about it anymore. But she's my baby, you know? I love her, she's amazing, and I wish more people took the time to write stories with her, because she just has so much potential! I mean, yeah, for angst of course, but also for healing and comfort, for action and fantasy, for mystical and mundane plots alike. She's so multi-faceted and fascinating to explore, I just... well, maybe it's more selfish in that I need help exploring some of the more mundane stuff with her. Because if it doesn't really Have Relevance to a Particular Plot, I generally won't wind up writing it, let alone publishing it. :P But this answer's already too long; I could rave about Dove for hours! All I'm trying to say is, I wish more people cared about OCs.

if you HAD to choose, who’s your favorite muse? Favorite to RP with? Far and away, Dove! Favorite for crack RPs, Srentha or Leyla. Favorite canon character is a GIGANTIC toss-up between Raven and Lapis. Favorite characters to explore for personal reasons are Ryou Bakura and Blue Diamond, but I have a hard time bringing myself to actually WRITE about them, for some reason...

is there a muse that not a lot of people roleplay with? (Besides the ones I haven't advertised? ^^';;) Maybe Phobia? She has only ever existed in comic canons-- though she WAS in the Teen Titans Go comics too! (The original series, not the... bastardization). Anyways, she's a much lesser-known muse. And my muse for her is wildly unreliable, she's a volatile and abrasive character, and my inspiration for her has run dry for awhile now...

which one of your muses have you been playing the longest? Prooobably Dove? She was the one I started rping with, of course!

which one of your muses has the most ships? Ships in their canon, or ships in my rps? Because you're talking to a demigray here; I don't really do romance? But in my stories, Dove has 3 ships (all at different times in her life). In rps, Dove has been kinda-contemplating-it shipped a couple times, but never got to the point of, you know, kissing... and in fandom, Lapis probably has the most.

what is each of your muses’ otps? notps? ~ Dove and Srentha together~ (Don't have notps for them.) ~ Kary: food? sleep? Her canon boyfriend Eric ~ Leyla has a qpp named Toby in the stories. ~ Raven: I'm demonbirds trash. I don't even know how that happened, honestly. why were you drawn to each one of your characters? Okay, listen, you can't just ask something like this and expect an easy answer! I could write an Actual Legitimate Essay on EACH ONE, because I only write a character when I'm Extremely Highkey Personally Emotionally Inspired by them!

Summaries go like this: Dove is brave, complex enough to delve deeply in and constantly discover new facets of, and inspiring enough to create a positive experience while doing so. Srentha is fun, positive, and passionate, and legitimate ADHD representation. Leyla is a chill miracle child of creativity and quiet passion. Raven is the reason I'm still alive and perfectly reflected me at about age 14, so I have a very deep personal connection to her. Kary is so fun to explore because she's my polar opposite, as a temperamental pyrokinetic who revels in chaos and really just wants to have a good time. Evangeline is everything Dove suppresses, brought to life, so she's fun to explore as an extension of Dove! Lapis has a lot of struggles to explore and has done a lot of healing and growth that I'd like to expand on someday. Blue Diamond and Ryou Bakura were basically literally me, so I can explore the trauma and healing from their perspectives in a safe space. And Phobia? I just wanted to put characters' mettle to the test honestly, and see what would happen.

which muse is the most fun to write for? Oh, Srentha, absolutely hands down! Dove does have the best close-friends casual-fun kind of rp relationships, though. And Mistress the Mismagius has this sardonic teasing sense of humor that always makes me smile, especially with Murky (Murkrow).

is there another muse you’ve been thinking of adding or writing for? who? Oh stars, I don't need another one. =w= I've been... struggling to get my Ryou blog actually up and running for a long while now. Nobody new has inspired me lately, but I'm pretty stuck in my fandom ways.

what is something everyone should know about your muses before interacting? I stick it all in their bios! But, let's see... Dove: Even though she's Raven's half-sister, she keeps it DESPERATELY hidden, and nobody IC is supposed to know about that. Srentha is very deeply rooted in Azarathean pacifism and won't do much in battle besides help people retreat. Leyla has her father's heart condition and can't do anything too active. Kary will rarely use her powers, as conjuring even a simple spark stings her scar badly. Lapis is more than her toxic relationship! Blue Diamond is NOT the dictator she once was! Ryou does NOT want the spirit of the millennium ring in his life anymore! Jess just... sticks mostly to Sinnoh and rarely ever leaves. And Evangeline has a palpable evil aura about her; she makes SURE of it.

what’s a weird headcanon you have for each of your muses? Dove hates pie. Srentha loves colorful things. Leyla will cover everything in glitter if you let her. Kary will do anything for some good food and/or a nap. Ryou's hair is untamable. Lapis doesn't guard her gem as carefully as she should. Blue Diamond may be more emotional, but she won't sing about it as frequently as other Gems. Raven... doesn't wear underwear?

which muse has the most aus or verses? I mean, the Lapis I was writing for was 97% canon divergent. Evangeline only exists as her own person (and not merely a partition of Dove's mind) in a DCUO-compatible timeline. But I don't really do aus or verses otherwise; it's just more stressful for me.

can you sort your muses from youngest to oldest? Sorting based on the ages I'll generally play them: Leyla (8-14), Dove (15-25), Kary (18+), Ryou (19+), Srentha (20+), Jess (22+), Phobia (23+), Lapis (5k+), Blue Diamond (10k+).

which muse is most willing to fight another muse? Oh, definitely Kary. (She won't fight Dove or Leyla, even if there's a really good reason. And Srentha has this weird power of defusing her. But anyone else, she can easily be provoked to fight on a dime.) Or maybe Evangeline, who will fight anyone at any time for any reason whatsoever?

do your muses get along with each other? Evangeline gets along with nobody. Dove/Srentha/Leyla are all a very tight-knit family, and Kary considers herself Dove's sister and Leyla's aunt. I've thought about what might happen if Lapis met Blue Diamond, but I don’t have the faintest idea of how that'd go? I did start an RP once where Lapis met Dove, and I planned to have them bond over homesickness and purpose-seeking, but then I lost the ehd I had that prewritten on, and never had the heart to try rewriting it. Ryou and Jess kinda exist in their own universe's bubble. (Jess has a whole cast of Pokemon creature muses she very much gets along with, though~)

would you ship any of your muses together? who? Dove and Srentha are hella-canon endgame already, that's been decided for like 12 years!

for each muse, is there a character you wish had a blog so you could interact with them? You know, I've never really been one much for wishing like that. I do wish Dove had a stable Raven again, since both of my all-time favorite Raven rpers have left the rp circle... but that's about it, really.

have you ever considered making a multimuse/is it easier having a multimuse? I mean, my Pokemon blog has like 19 muses built into the breeding center... 8F But no, I prefer to keep my drafts, rps, and tag systems for each muse on separate sideblogs. Tumblr's tags break WAY too often to shove them all in one place. (And with a sideblog, I don't have to log in and out every time I want to check for replies!)

which muse is the most problematic towards other muses? Toss-up between Phobia and Evangeline, obviously. Blue Diamond is a reformed Gem, the way I play her. (I don't care what anyone says, THAT'S CANON as HELL too!) But Evangeline actively goes out of her way to hurt and/or sacrifice people to her own ends,

which muse is most likely to make new friends? Probably Leyla, though now that SU has sent out a message across the Gem universe that Gems are welcome on Earth, Lapis could wind up meeting quite a lot of new acquaintances. It's much harder to befriend her, though. Srentha has a lot of charismatic energy too, and he’ll go out and make friends with anyone, given the chance.

which muses’ fandom do you like the best? Ahhh, don't make me CHOOSE like that! ;; Fandom like being a fan of them, or fandom like, liking the other people in the fandom? Because Steven Universe, Teen Titans, and YuGiOh all have incredibly special places in my heart, while having Their Issues amongst the fandom... Pokemon seems to be the best mannered fandom though, especially amidst the RP community.

is there someone playing the same muse/s as you and you really look up to them? Ohgosh, well there's a blog called, I think, melancholeyes?, that plays Blue so well, it's like reading canon scenes. I did see a blog that played a Ryou I respected, but I can't remember their name... and of course Larissa and Pix played great Ravens, but each a different version.

which muse do people send the most asks for? Probably Dove, thanks in large part to Caleb!

which muse is most likely to have kids? Leyla is already Dove's kid, so... 8F

is there a rule that someone keeps breaking for your muses? Not to my knowledge, but my rules aren't strict anyways.

can you sort your muses from weakest to strongest? ...Oh, stars. How am I supposed to sort them? Well, let's try this.

Weakest to strongest in combat (based on their style of choice): Ryou, Leyla, Srentha, Phobia, Evangeline, Jess, Kary, Dove, Lapis, Blue Diamond, Raven. ( * i switched raven and blue diamond around SO many times. both are immensely powerful with god-like abilities, but raven can literally destroy reality itself. so...)

Weakest to strongest by strength of heart and character: Phobia, Evangeline, uh... Kary? Srentha...? Uh... frICK THIS ONE'S HARD. Because they're all so strong in their own ways. Probably Leyla? Next tier is probably Blue, Lapis, and Jess, and Dove, Raven, and Ryou are highest tier.

which muse are you considering deleting? Phobia, and maybe sometimes Blue. (I actually... never got a single RP or follower on Blue. I'm still debating if I really WANT to rp as her, at least on Tumblr, knowing how toxic the fandom can get around the Diamonds...)

most importantly, are you having fun playing each one of your muses? Pretty much! Especially Dove, Srentha, Leyla, and Raven!~ Raven's wit and clipped verbiage can be tricky to for me sometimes, but all it takes is a little tlc on her dialogue, and it doesn't slow down my enjoyment one bit. :} And when I'm in a Pokemon-hyperfocus mood, writing the Pokemon team is ALWAYS a blast! (Especially the Pokemon; their personalities are so dynamic together.) With muses like Lapis and Blue, and even Kary, the mood for their emotionality waxes and wanes, but I don't write for them unless I'm in The Right Frame of Mind to KEEP UP with them, you know? I never push myself in an rp until it's not fun anymore; at least I know where my writing burnout limits are.

Phobia and Evangeline are both sadistic, and when you're a compassionate person, that can be very hard to write out in the painstaking detail of my style. But sometimes my mind just Won't Shut UP about 'Vangie unless I WRITE IT OUT. Which is a good exercise of course, stretching my horizons and all that, and I do love writing the drama and conflict they stir up.

But beyond the momentary discomforts, I'm just so eager to explore their lives and minds and adventures, so yes, I absolutely DO have fun writing for each and every one!

Warning: this post is long. If you are interested on my theories on DST lore you can click on  “Keep reading” below. If you don’t you can skip it. This whole post is the ultimate evidence that studying Foreign Literature at university was a really bad idea as now I see hidden subtexts everywhere! And having had some years to work on this theory didn't help either... I will be happy to see it crushed by Klei guys themselves with the release of the actual lore in a few weeks, because they are up to something big and I'm ready to have my mind blown! 

I think it's time for me to confess a little Don't Starve Together headcanon of mine I never really revealed to anyone until now: I seriously think that Wilson might be Charlie and Winona's younger brother, or at least a younger half-brother. I am not saying this just because their haircuts bear some similarities. There are some serious clues in game leading to that direction, and I found basically no counterarguments strong enough to deny the theory. I don’t know if these are funny coincidences or not, but they were enough to fill more than four Words pages and I am not one to believe in coincidences.

So the evidences I gathered could be summed up like this:

Charlie and Wilson act like they know each other in A New Reign Cinematic; she is the Night Monster, so of course they know each other! However, why did she choose to set him free revealing her true form despite her wanting to hide it and why did she let Wilson live to tell the tale?

It is confirmed that Charlie has one sister, but there might be other siblings or family members no one mentioned yet. And thanks to the information released by Klei it is possible to confirm that Wilson is young enough to possibly be Charlie and Winona's brother;

There are clues that Winona might be born into a rich family she estranged herself from because of her lifestyle (and possibly guilt for Charlie's supposed demise); the same applies to Wilson too, though the reasons of his estrangement are not clear;

We still have no way to know exactly where all these characters are from exactly, but it is implied that Winona traveled through all the USA and that Wilson at least completed his education in the USA.

It is confirmed that Wilson is a European immigrant; if we take Charlie’s Rose species name in account, her and Winona could possibly be of Anglo-Irish descent.

Wilson and Shadow Charlie share a similar haircut (and so does Winona to a lesser extend); Winona and Charlie's face structure is similar and it looks totally different from Wilson's, but there is an example in game that blood relatives could not look like each other at all (Maxwell and Wendy).

Wilson's new darkness quote is very similar to one of Maxwell's quotes about Abigail.

Wilson seems to have personality traits and interests in common with both Charlie and Winona;

We were told that Winona went to the Constant to save someone: despite their relationships being known, Charlie and Robert Wagstaff might not be the person she was looking for, at least according to her original character quotes.

The explanations and the results of some researches I made to confirm or deny my theory are better expressed below divided in four parts.

1) A New Reign Cinematic

This less than two minutes cinematic is mute like almost every Don't Starve related animation, but it's so full of emotion it's simply beautiful. And it is the only time we can see Charlie being herself before becoming the Shadow Queen, so I watched it again and again, even slowed down so I could fully enjoy every seconds of it (and a lot of DST fellow fans out there probably did too).

I have to admit that I always had the impression that Charlie booped Wilson's nose before setting him free, and that was for sure a factor in developing this theory as you boop your boyfriend or your little brother's nose, not a unknown person you just met. But Wilson being Charlie's brother would explain why she chose to set him free in the first place: before Wilson there was Maxwell, and despite all the powers he gained by being the Shadow King him being trapped on the Throne was still a torture. Wilson did not want to become the new King and so he was desperately fighting against Them and their corruption. Charlie hates to be seen, yet she chose to reveal herself to Wilson and she became the new Queen to prevent him to become like herself and Maxwell and this is a thing that every good big sister would do for their little brother. Furthermore, Charlie had to muster some serious self-control before doing that stunt because I am seriously convinced that any other character in Wilson's place would have died there and then. Charlie was smiling at the beginning of the cinematic, but her eyebrows betrayed her being extremely worried too. When Wilson is not in the Throne Room anymore she is much more relaxed, because she did what she came for and Wilson survived: it doesn't matter what will become of her from then on, and maybe that factor made the fusion with her Shadow self possible.

And about Maxwell, I think that dragging her theoretical little brother in that hellish world where Charlie herself could be the cause of his death would be a more than valid reason for Charlie to hate Maxwell's guts even more than she did before. That could be the reason why Maxwell’s death caused by Darkness is listed as "Charlie" instead. I checked it, despite Winona is canonically able to recognize Charlie as the Darkness like Maxwell, her death cause is still listed as "Darkness". But it is impossible to tell if it is a developers' oversight.

2) What we know about their backgrounds

Digging into the William Carter Puzzles Charlie's ad requisition caught my curiosity. It says "should have a curious demeanor and a keen interest in the mysteries of the universe." This description could fit Wilson too. We know next to nothing about who Charlie used to be before she became the Night Monster, aside that she was William Carter's assistant and she cared a lot about him. In her letters Charlie mentions only one sister, Winona, because she frequently visited her (or, more likely, they lived together when she was not working with Maxwell). But frequent visits to her sister don't exclude the possibility of other relatives or siblings existing somewhere else. This happened in 1905 and Charlie disappeared the following year, exactly fifteen years before the events of Don't Starve in 1921. Charlie and Winona were young adults and they probably moved away from their family. According to Charlie's last letter her family owned a cabin used as holiday house in BC, implying that Charlie and Winona's birth family was been rich enough to afford a holiday house in the first place.

BC commonly stands for "British Columbia" in Canada, a popular place for a family to have a holiday cabin nowadays. But it can also stand for Bay City, Michigan. Bay City is located near Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron, so it could be a possible place to locate a holiday cabin for the family. For some bonus points, Bay City merged with West Bay City in 1905; West Bay City was created in 1877 from the union of the villages of Banks, Salzburgh and Wenona. Wenona is an alternative spelling of the name "Winona": if the Bay City theory is correct she might have been born during a time where the old name of the area could have been still used by population and her parents might have liked it enough to name their first daughter like the old village. I wanted to see if BC could have another meaning and that was the result. But it might be just a funny coincidence.

Back to the job question, Charlie actually replied for an application that actually has not a great paycheck (during that time most performers were barely able to sustain themselves and Maxwell himself got some debts during his first years) and that required a cultured person who knew how to appear in front of an audience: during that time having an education was still a luxury for wealthy families and same goes with clothes dapper enough to look good by Maxwell's side. Her Shadow Queen's form fancy dress seems to confirm this theory. So the only real reason she could need to work is her living really far away from her family and that required her to look for any kind of job to be able to survive for the long run.

What do we know about Wilson? As he is in his 30s in 1921, he was a likely teenager in 1906, and as Klei recently said, "maybe a European USA Immigrant? We never really picked a home land for him." Thinking about this last statement, we can say that during that time that description could fit basically most of the American population back in the 1920s. They actually said nothing. BUT, in 2014, a fan posted on Tumblr another message from Klei that gives us some interesting information: these are the evidences that despite it all it might be legit:

I checked on DS and DST credits, there really is a Jan Hatchings.

The first thing Jan says is that Klei prefers to be the fan finding out about the past of the characters exploring the game: a nice way to say they are not allowed to spill too many beans. (I want the character updates and the new characters! I want to know what they are hiding!)

He confirmed some information we already knew (Wilson being in his 30s, the game being set in early 1920s) adding that he was living in New England at the time of the trailer: New England is the Northeastern area of the United States, it is bordered with Canada, three of the most important colleges of the United States are there (Yale, Harvard and the MIT) and there are a lot of woods. The perfect area for a lonesome scientist to live in.

He mentions his family not wanting to talk to him;

Jan invites the person who originally shared the message to join the official forum.

So Wilson most likely completed his instruction in the United States or he sought affiliation with American colleges, and that would be weird for a person who grew up in the United Kingdom, as he would be already close to some of the most prestigious and oldest colleges and academic associations in the world. That's why I think the "immigration" part might mean that he was born into a British family immigrated in the US and he actually grew up in the United States (and maybe not even Klei knows if Wilson's family moved in before or after he was born). As he had a nanny as a kid and, as already pointed out, college education was something that only wealthy families could afford back then, we can assume Wilson was born into a rich family that for some reason moved to America.

Like BC, New England area is pretty popular for its holiday cabins so it makes sense for Wilson to have lived into one of them. He was isolated, yet possibly close to a scientific center of interest like a university. Even if he bought the house or someone else did it for him, for sure Wilson needed some money to live in there and being a Gentleman Scientist is a risky profession for a safe paycheck. Quoting Wikipedia:

"An independent scientist (modern gender-neutral term historically also known as gentleman scientist) is a financially independent scientist who pursues scientific study without direct affiliation to a public institution such as a university or government-run research and development body. [...] Most independent scientists have at some point in their career been affiliated with some academic institution, such as Charles Darwin, who was affiliated with the Geological Society of London. [...] Self-funding has the disadvantage that funds may be more restricted; [...] It also permits the scientist to have greater control over research directions, as funding bodies direct grants towards interests that may not coincide with that of the scientist. [...] Scientists may choose to work on unusual projects with high risk of failure also when the grant system does not fund them. A scientist could be attributed the status of independent scientist if they work on such projects during a gap between two academic positions, for example."

So Wilson being a Gentleman Scientist means that he was the one and only person who worked on his own projects with no external funds from government and scientific institutions. If his research failed he could have ended in some serious economic trouble. He might have had some help from universities, but that could have not be enough. But it makes sense for Wilson being a Gentleman Scientist if his parents died and he inherited their money or a part of it. That would make him economically independent enough to perform his experiments with no considerable help.

But then, if his parents are presumably dead, who is the family who doesn't want to speak to him? It would be easy to say that his extended family thinks him to be a mad scientist and decided they don't want to have nothing to do with him. But this doesn't deny the theory "Wilson is Charlie's brother": if we take this theory in account, his only currently known immediate family members are Charlie and Winona. Charlie was presumed dead in 1906, while Winona probably got estranged from her parents because of her lifestyle and maybe even accused to have caused her sister's death. Even if their parents are dead, why Winona should think that her brother would be different? To her he is just a spoiled child who attended a fancy university and that probably spends all the day talking nonsense with other eggheads. Also her constant moving through the country will make keep contacts really difficult, so she simply didn't. Sadly a lot of people do it for even pettier reasons.

And, for some bonus point, Wickerbottom recognizes Charlie's Rose as a "Rosa Macdub", or a "Dublin Bay climbing rose". A rich Irish family immigrating from a country where uprisings were a Tuesday for at least one century would make sense. And it would not even directly conflict with the theory as the richest families residing in Ireland were of English descent and all Ireland was a part of the United Kingdom until 1919. So despite Wilson being a perfect "British gentleman" kind of character, the possibility of Charlie and Winona being Irish or Anglo-Irish descent doesn't deny the theory. But I don't know if this could count as a clue about Charlie's family origin as the Dublin Bay climbing rose was actually bred for the first time in 1975 in New Zealand, with peculiar characteristics and resistance that make me think that they might be the reason for it to be chosen as Charlie’s symbol despite its anachronism. And just because of this the thing that concerns me more about this rose is not the possible reference to Charlie's birthplace, but an explanation of how Wickerbottom is able to recognize a flower from 1975 without knowing what is a license plate!

3) The similarities between the characters in game 

One of the things most evident in the cinematic was that Wilson and Charlie shared a similar haircut and hairline. Haircuts are not hereditary, but unmodified hairlines and hair textures are. Winona looks a lot like Charlie, but she doesn't resemble Wilson at all except their being two light skinned people with dark hair and solid black eyes in game. Also, Winona seems to have a different hairline than Wilson and Charlie when uncovered (except in the Gorge's vignette where she sports a small widow's peak), but the hairstyle is still similar to theirs, with only one "point" out of three. However, there are even deeper similarities between these characters: Charlie is the "bookworm" sister, interested in the "mysteries of the universe"; Winona hates books and prefers to work on her mechanical creations with a trial-and-error approach. And then there is Wilson, who sits perfectly in between these mindsets. That was one of the reasons why at first I was shocked by Winona when she was released: when I already suspected that Wilson and Charlie might be related it is revealed that Charlie's sister is a work-alcoholic engineer with a weird haircut and basically a female Wilson with a tape and the ability to dodge. (Piccolo approves.) Their similarities could be attributed to lazy developers, but what if that was actually a clue of them being actually related? Also, it is implied that Winona was grown up in a estranged wealthy family and it is confirmed that she dislikes fancy things and formalities: the same could be said about Wilson! Seriously, there are too many coincidences to be a random chance. (And that, ladies and gentlemen was the point where the theory became a full fledged headcanon. But I am not related to Klei in any way, so this is still the theory of a deluded fan that loves to make theories and Klei will destroy it in a few days with the new lore.)

And what about avoiding Charlie? Well, this could have a pretty simple explanation, reflected by their body shapes: Winona spent the last fifteen years of her life enduring all the kinds of manual jobs, so she actually gained some muscle mass and speed movement that she uses in game to avoid the attacks of her beloved sister. Not to mention that she seems to be closer to Charlie's age than Wilson is, so probably they spent some time playing together as kids (and probably back then Winona was the one winning the fight game). Wilson is more of a couch potato and according to the official timeline he is some years younger than Charlie and Winona. In case we take the theory "Wilson is Charlie's brother" in account, it means Wilson could not play with his older sisters like they used to do when they were younger and this causes him to be unable to dodge Charlie's attacks even if now he knows who is attacking him.

Another interesting possible clue is the new sentence Wilson says in DST when he is attacked by Charlie: "That presence... it's familiar! Hello?". Sure, he finally met her so he can recognize her presence... but the choice of words bears some uncanny resemblance to another quote from another character: "Hm? What a familiar presence." But maybe it's just another coincidence that this is almost the inversion of the words order of the sentence of a certain uncle recognizing the flower of his dead niece. Or I'm so into this theory that I'm seeing clues everywhere.

And for some more bonus point, look at Maxwell and Wendy in game: unless you know Don't Starve lore all you could say about them after looking at their designs and reading their quotes is "are these two guys in the same Shakespeare emo fanclub?" Their quotes have a similar dramatic tone, but there is almost nothing that suggests an actual family relationship between them. They don't even look anything alike!

4) The identity of the person Winona was trying to save

We were told from the beginning that Winona went into the Constant on her own because she wanted to save someone. We were also informed that she is Charlie's sister and she used to work for the Voxola Radio Company, so Charlie and Robert Wagstaff seem to be the only possible options as the person she was trying to save. Or aren't they?

As for Charlie, she disappeared in 1906 during a huge disaster that caused a lot of victims (the event overlaps with San Francisco's earthquake in 1906), and Winona came into the Constant fifteen years later. Probably on Earth Charlie was presumed dead and Winona went with it, as her quote of the Tragedy Marble Statue suggests ("We thought she was gone"). She grieved her but then she went on with her life. In 1919 she started to work for Wagstaff's Voxola until it burned down. However, unusually for a character who is supposed to be canonically playable only in the multiplayer version of the game, Winona has Adventure Mode related quotes that even got modified at some point. According to her original Adventure Mode quotes we can understand that she was actually shocked to find out that Maxwell's plots were behind Voxola's fire and Wagstaff's disappearance. Then Robert Wagstaff might not be the person Winona was looking for. Two years or more pass by and Winona joins the fun in the Constant, yet she never mentions her looking for someone, meaning that she already found the one person she was looking for. If this person is not Charlie or Wagstaff, who could they be? Wilson not only could be a valid answer, but if she knew where he lived and she found the Maxwell's Door inside his house she even had the mean to reach the Constant with no help at all!

But if they are estranged how did she know Wilson went missing? Well, some newspapers or radio transmissions might have announced his sudden disappearance, or the police went look for Winona because she might be the only family he has left. And the news did not leave her indifferent, so she went to his place looking for clues and found out about the Maxwell's Door. And for some bonus points, if Wilson left some notes behind (and he probably did as he used the typewriter when he was creating the portal during the cinematic!) she might have recognized something Charlie could have told her about fifteen years before that convinced her that Wilson was in trouble. So she activated the door. We know how it went.

40k Factions Headcanons Part 2

Right, here’s part 2 of what might be a long running series I’m mostly writing because I want to get these ideas out of my head so I never have to think about them again.

Sisters of Battle

The Sisters are probably my favorite faction in all of 40k. Fanatical power-armoured catholic space nuns wielding flamethrowers and rocket-firing submachine guns really encapsulate the feel of 40k. The fact that they haven’t received a real update in two decades makes me sad. SO here���s how I’d redesign them if I woke up one morning and suddenly found myself in charge of GW’s intellectual property: Crunch-wise there’s quite a few changes I’d make, including the Faith system, but a lot of them are really minor. I’d give Sisters units the Faithful special rule, which gives them the Shield of Faith invulnerable save and generates a Faith point at the start of each turn. Sisters can spend Faith points to either perform Acts of Faith (which buffs units) or to “dispel” hostile psyker powers. Because more units = more Faith powers, it means the Faith system will scale with the size of the army, something Faith systems have traditionally struggled with. I decided to go unit-by-unit for this analysis, explaining the changes I’d make to each one, because a lot of the changes where fairly intricate HQ Canoness with a possible Celestian bodyguard - Celestians all get storm bolters, canoness gives a “strategy buff” (An extra command point?) Priest with a possible Crusader Bodyguard - Priest gives a “morale/faith” buff compared to the canoness, possibly generating d3 faith pointsinstead of just one. Crusaders are Crusaders, one or two can take flamers/meltas/stormbolters. No plasmaguns for the priests, the sisters should be about the faith and fire. Elites Arco-Flagellants - a Fearless unit of crazy naked dudes. They throwout 2d3 Str 4 attacks each and have toughness 4 and feel no pain, but they aren’t Faithful (they aren’t believers, its why they’re here, they’re just raging on Holy Cocaine and Blessed Steroids). Repentia - Another Fearless unit of mostly naked people frothing at the mouth, tearing at their enemies and taking up an Elite slot, bThese guys need a few things to differentiate them from the Flagellants. First of all they have big girl eviscerators (instead of the nerfed versions they have now) making them effective against a different kind of enemy to the horde-killing Flagellants. They have two attacks each so they can dish out the hurt, but they’re only toughness three with no armour besides Shield of Faith. I’d consider including an Act of Faith that increases Shield of Faith to 4+ for a phase/turn, just to give them a better chance of surviving until they can actually kill something. I don’t wanna give them feel no pain, because it makes them too similar to Arco-Flagellants. We want our units to be diverse and interesting after all. Troops Sisters of Battle - 5 to 15 strong, able to take two special weapons for each five Sisters in the Squad. Flamer/Meltagun/Stormbolter, but no heavy weapons. This is to help keep them mobile and aggressive. Faithful Mob - a weak but Fearless close-combat tarpit, lead by a lay preacher. Gets around the Decree Passive because the Ministorum isn’t technically keeping them under arms. If some Lay Preacher, totally unaffiliated with the official Adeptus Ministorum, gathers a crowd of Ordinary Pious Imperial Citizens and inspires them to march to the battlefield in order to take the fate of their planet into their own hands and smite the Foul Enemies of the Most Holy Emperor of Mankind, its not really breaking the Degree Passive if the Sisters point them in the right direction, now is it? Having these guys as troops also serves to show how influential the Cult of the Emperor is in the lives of everyday imperial citizens and how fanatical those citizens tend to be. Transports Rhino - As standard. Its not broken so there’s no need to fix it. Although I would make the Rhino is the heavier armoured of the typical imperial Metal Bawxes, when compared to the IG’s Chimera. Can carry up to twelve people, can be upgraded to be Faithful with Laud Hailers, can take a pintle-mounted flamer. Immolator - As they are. BEHOLD! THE IMMOLATOR! PURGATION MANIFEST! Repressor - Similar to a rhino, but lighter armoured and open topped in exchange for firing ports. These things have been around forever, there’s no excuse for why they’ve remained forge world only for so long. Fast Attack Death Cult Assassins - infiltrating infantry, placed here so the Elite section isn’t so crowded. I wouldn’t necessarily give them power swords, we have enough close combat ass-kickers in this force with the Flagellants, the Repentia and the Crusaders. Maybe swap them out for some kind of short-range gun. Shotguns maybe? Seraphim - as they are. these girls are cool. Dominions - similar to Sisters of Battle, but they have the ability to outflank. I’d want to differentiate them from the normal sisters more than “they have outflank and more special weapons”, so I’d give them a smaller unit size and less amour and say they have to take an immolator or repressor to outflank in. Heavy Support Retributors - Sisters with heavy weapons. Nuff said. May not be able to take a repressor, because that may be too broken. Penitent Engines - Random attacks like the Arco-Flagellants, but they don’t die if they roll max attacks. More lightly armoured than dreadnaughts but cheaper, meant to be taken in squads of two or three. The pilots are surgically connected to their machines, as they are never meant to be removed. Only in Death Does Duty End. Exorcist - shoots a barrage of four long-ranged missiles, each hit at strength 6 AP-3 and causing d3 hits. With all your melta guns you don’t really need d6 Krak missiles, and although this might be too “middle ground” its at least different. Super Heavy Living Saint - a generic version of Saint Celestine. Can fly and smite people with a giant flaming holy sword, essentially an Imperial Demon Prince. VERY hard to kill. She can be healed using faith points, one wound per Faith point expended. She has 6 wounds and a 3+ Invulnerable save, although she’s only toughness 3. Inquisitor - these guys aren’t the sneaky, investigative Inquisitors, oh no. They’re the Faith and Fire Inquisitors who raise armies of the faithful to purge entire planets, turning the skies black with the smoke from millions of pyres. They’re in the Super Heavy section instead of the HQ or Elite section because they have the ability to call down orbital barrages, which are devastating and can strike multiple units in one turn. It also gives them more “presence”, sticking them in the Super Heavy slot shows that these guys are a big deal in-game. In terms of their play-style, the Sisters tend towards a very aggressive mechanised force, although you can run them as a priest leading a vast horde of the faithful. I left Heavy Weapons off the normal Sisters squads to encourage close range, objective-seizing firefights. Their playstyle mirrors that of the Tau, in a way. They’re a mostly mechanised force, but while the Tau prefer to hang back and fight their enemies at a safe distance the Sisters want to rush in to a range where their bolters and flamers are more effective. Despite this, they aren’t meant to be a “close combat” army, there’s a reason the only good close combat units are Elite choices. Pushing so close to the enemy while depending on ranged combat makes them a high risk/high reward army, which suits them thematically. Sisters aren’t “safe”. They’re the DOOM soundtrack if it had a hymnal choir, they’re Faith and Fire, they’re here to rush across the table and smite the enemies of Humanity with Great Anger and Righteous Fury. Fluff-wise, I’d have there be more sisters. Like, A LOT more. I’d change them from being one of the minor factions to being a galaxy-wide fighting force. The Adeptus Ministorum is really pushing the Decree Passive with this, but the Inquisition doesn’t clamp down on them because large armies of powered armoured fanatics are actually very useful in the 41st Millenium, especially when you need to call up Righteous Soldiers of the Emperor to smite some deserving heretics. In a very real way they’re “budget space marines”, which isn’t a bad thing considering the Imperium’s current military situation. They have the powered armour and the fire power, but there’s enough of them that they’re useful in a defensive capacity and armies more of them can be raised up relatively quickly. They aren’t genetically enhanced like their big brothers, but they are enhanced in every other way imaginable while still remaining human - a high-protein diet since childhood, grueling physical training, steroids, etc.Thematically, they represent the religiosity and fanaticism of the modern Imperium. Faith and Fire. Gigantic techno-cathedrals full off countless faithful, their voices united in ear-blistering hymns. Violent redemptionists leading mobs of normal citizens to attack vagrants and mutants. This is the side of the Imperium represented by the Sisters and their followers.Also, there are trans sisters.p.s. I realise there’s a lot of ableism involved in this, what with the whole “purge mutants in the name of the emperor” thing. I’d acknowledge this in-universe: The Imperium AREN’T good guys, especially not in the new version of 40k I’m making. They’re is a brutal fascist empire, where the nobility live lives of unimaginable extravagance on beautiful garden worlds or in shining cities above the clouds, while the average imperial citizen works 16 hours a day in a dangerous manufactorum and dies of carbon monoxide poisoning at the age of 29. The leaders of the Imperium don’t value any part of humanity that doesn’t benefit them, and they go to extreme lengths to monopolise all of their subjects’ waking hours - time a worker spends doing things they enjoy is time the Imperium doesn’t benefit from after all. Heresy Grows From Idleness, from workers who waste their time doing things for themselves instead of working to strengthen the Imperium or from workers who stop and ask themselves WHY they have to work 16 hours a day in a manufactorum seemingly designed to maim them. A disabled human who couldn’t work, who was incapable of producing for the imperium, would be demonised for this reason. Not only are they not useful to the Imperium, they also risk laying bare its greatest hypocrisies. The harshness of life under the Imperium is why rebellion is so tempting, and why the Forces of Chaos find it so easy to recruit new soldiers. The Imperium are NOT the good guys, and the fact that Games Workshop have forgotten this is one of the worst parts of modern 40k.So yeah. There’s my headcanon for the Sisters of Battle in 40k. They’re my favorite faction, so much so that when Raging Heroes releases enough of their Sisters range I’m going to collect an army of them for 8th (they’re going to be an army of disabled IG vets who use their power armour as mobility devices and fight to protect fringe worlds). I was going to do my headcanon/redesign for the Guard in this post too, but this post took two hours to write so I’m going to hold off and do that another day. Tell me what you think, if you actually managed to read through all this.

Alright, guys. I’ve started updating my headcanons for this lovely lady. Here’s a taste, for anyone who’s interested.

History

1. Family

Dimaria was traded away by her parents at the tender age of seven, in exchange for - she assumed - something to feed one of their numerous addictions. She retains few memories of her time spent with them, the entirety of which are saturated in the stench of stale smoke and alcohol.

2. Upbringing

She was placed into the hands of a man she knew only as “Master Black,” and taken to an academy of sorts. This academy’s sole purpose was the transformation of young children into lethal weapons. In order to accomplish this, each child was required to attend special “classes.” These classes were designed to rid the children of all weakness. They were unceasingly put through severe mental and physical trauma, ceasing only when sustenance or rest were deemed absolutely necessary. The end goal of which being to bring the children so much pain that the sensation was no longer agonizing, but normal.

3. Chronos

Due to the heinous living environment that these children were exposed to, the majority of them didn’t make it. Of course, this was of no actual consequence to the academy. It was considered a "natural selection" of sorts. If a child was deemed too weak to carry on with their training, they were executed. Her strong spirit notwithstanding, Dimaria was a frail child. This could be attributed to the fact that she had been malnourished since birth. Despite this, she survived ten years of training - each year more rigorous than the last. Until finally, it was time for her “graduation ceremony.” This was no cause for celebration, however. In order for a student to graduate the academy, they were required to pass a series of trials that would kill any normal human - or drive them mad.It was during the very last of these trials that Dimaria was blessed by Chronos. Considered the “runt” of her class, her training had been more rigorous than any of the other students’. Making graduation seemingly impossible to attain. In fact, her superiors had every intention of making it just that: impossible. However, she never let that thought enter her mind. 

The trials were specifically formulated to take advantage of the remaining weaknesses of each individual student. With this in mind, Dimaria’s last trial was designed to take advantage of what was perceived as her last remaining fault: unyielding loyalty to her comrades. Trapped by superiors in a room with her six remaining classmates, she was forced into a kill-or-be-killed situation. Unwilling to fight, she was beaten to the brink of death.

The beating came to an abrupt halt, and she could barely hear the voice of Master Black whispering into her ear.

“Any last words, runt?”

She replied through broken teeth, streams of blood exiting her mouth as she did so.

“Looks like my time is up.”

No sooner had the words left her mouth, a bright light flashed through the small slits of her swollen eyes. She awaited the sweet relief of death.

“Not yet, Yesta. You’ve still got work to do.”

The strange bellow assaulted her ear drums. She struggled through the swelling to locate the source. She then felt her body being lifted away from the ground. Strange, it wasn’t painful, as it should be with her body in this condition. It was as though she were floating on air. Was this what dying felt like? If so, why was she still in so much pain?

“Ah, you’re in bad shape. Let’s get those taken care of, shall we? But first, sleep child.”

It was the same bellowing voice from before. Could it be God? Of course not. She had abandoned hope of a god long ago. She had little time to ponder, however, as she could feel herself being called by warm embrace of slumber.

She awoke suddenly to a bright light assaulting her eyes through closed lids. Sunlight? It had been years since she had been outdoors. The only glimpses daylight she had gotten during her time in the academy had been through the nearly-closed blinds of Master Black’s office window.

“Ah, you’re awake!”

That voice, it was so familiar.

“Well, come on now. We’ve wasted enough time.”

The sentence was followed by a brief pause, then a blustering laugh.

“Ah, you’ll get it later,” the voice muttered, still chuckling.

The haze of deep sleep started to lift, allowing her training to kick in.

Analyze the situation. She cracked her lids ever so slightly in an attempt to assess her surroundings.

“Oh!” She exclaimed, instinct catapulting her body off of the bed. The thin line of vision she had allowed herself had been assaulted by an obnoxiously bright, yellow, clock face.

“Yes! That’s the spirit, up and at ‘em. Like I said, time’s a wastin’!”

There was that laugh again, except this time she could see the source. It was no less disorienting. The man - thing - standing in front of her had the body of an extremely large - extremely muscular - man. However, from the neck up was a round clock face, complete with eyes, a mouth, and - could those clock-hands be his nose? Her mind drew a blank.

“Who - What - are you?” She stammered. The bright light from before had been emanating from his body.

“Ah, yes. That’s right, introductions first. Where are my manners? I, my lady, am Chronos. But, you may better know me as Time.” 

Her mind struggled to make sense of the situation. ‘Time?’ What kind of drugs was this guy on? What kind of drugs was she on? She was having a conversation with giant clock-man.

“I assume this all must be very strange to you. Unfortunately, I don’t have much time to explain. Or, should I say, enough of myself.” 

The phrase was followed by more chuckling. Whoever this guy was, he sure seemed to amuse himself.

“Your recovery took longer than expected. You sure took a beating. It’s dangerous to keep time frozen for this long. People start collecting dust, starving to death, that kind of thing. Unfortunately, I can only keep physical form in this realm while time is standing still.”

She stared at him in bewilderment. She had gone insane. It was the only possible solution. She’d seen it happen to many of the other students at the academy. During their training they would suddenly stop, a glaze forming over their eyes like the were in some far away place. It had finally happened, she’d lost her mind.

“I know what you’re thinking. You’re not crazy. Well, you’re not imagining this at least.”

Another chuckle.

“Come, child.”

Before she could decide whether or not she wanted to lose hold of her sanity completely, her feet were lifted from the ground and she was floating slowly behind Chronos.

They seemed to have taken haven in a large tent of sorts. She spectated as he lifted the flap and exited, with her - unwillingly - following behind.

“You see, you and I are the only ones aware of what is happening.”

Her jaw dropped in awe as she beheld the scene laid out before her. They had emerged into a bustling street. There were people - a lot of people - all frozen in place while performing numerous tasks. She would have thought the whole thing staged, if not for some of their positions being impossible to hold.

“Yes. Behold, child. The power of Chronos!” The last sentence such a bellow, she was sure her eardrums would burst.

“Ah, that should be enough showboating for now.” He turned to face her. “I've had my eye on you for a long while, Dimaria Yesta. You have a tenacious spirit, worthy of The Gods. It is for this reason that I have decided to bestow a gift upon you.”

He placed a giant palm against her forehead. She struggled to pull away from him, but was held captive by his invisible force. A blinding light emanated from his palm. Fearing for her eyes, she quickly shuttered them. A burning sensation traveled from her forehead, down her neck, down her spine, until it finally reached the tip of her toes. It wasn’t the burning she had grown accustomed to in the academy. It felt as though her insides had been set ablaze, and were rushing to find the fire escape.

“This is not a power to be taken lightly, Dimaria Yesta. Abusing Time is a serious matter, and will be dealt with accordingly.” 

It was the first time she had heard the jovial man sound somber. It was also then that she realized he had been using her full name. She hadn’t heard it since she’d set foot into the academy. Her superiors had generally referred to her as ‘runt’, or some other form of slur. Now that she was hearing the name as if it were a stranger’s, she realized how beautiful it was. Dimaria Yesta. Yes, that was her.

I use a 6000pxx5000px with a 4px brush, usually, but I really rarely use it all, mostly it’s just like, corners of the whole thing. I tend to draw a lot of things on the same canvas before switching to a new one - that said, personally I can’t draw properly if I don’t zoom in above 100% (usually I work at 150% or 200%, more for details) so I’m really not the right person to ask this haha

Maybe either, maybe neither, depends on many things but mostly on how I don’t ever ask myself this question for any of my ships so I got no answer for it at all ever - instead we should ask ourselves the important questions, like who opens the water bottles between them (Kirishima when Bakugou’s palms get too sweaty and Bakugou’s forever resentful about it), who kicks when they sleep and who always ends up sleeping on the floor because of it (Bakugou’s the restless sleeper, poor Kirishima), who takes way too damn long in the bathroom goddamnit Kirishima get out of there already I swear to go——-

They’re learning together!! They have an online dictionary and follow online courses, so Kirishima kind of looked it up for himself at first - he was signing it as love instead of really like thoug, which made Bakugou indecently flustered so in the end, yes, he was the one to teach him how to properly sign it :D

I’m glad you like it!!!!! And nope Kiri didn’t know jsl from before, but mers do have something similar to a sign language (there’s deaf and mute merpeople too, after all) so he recognized it as Bakugou going “I want to talk to you and this is the best way to” - also, he’d never seen a tablet before and Bakugou was showing him an explosion on it to make him understand and instead he went “what is this SORCERY” and got excited about a gif. Good, pure kid. I had no clue how to add that in the comic in a fast way tho so let’s leave it at him being happy they found a possible way to communicate haha

So pretty much at some point in the middle of a meeting Present Mic mentioned how there probably was a traitor between them that kept on feeding the villains infos about UA, and the fandom of course got interested in that!! Who could it be? They started thinking it through and for some reason the theories that ended up being more popular are about it being either Kaminari, Kirishima or Hagakure - I don’t think any of these are true, but if you google search “kaminari traitor theory” or the same with the other two names you should easily find the posts explaining the theories and where they come from, if you’re interested!
