Despicable Me AU - info (part 3)

Mel belongs to a small group of minions who were able to get along with Otto right from the beginning;

It's partially because Mel viewed and still views Otto as his little brother;

Also, Mel is, despite his stubbornness, actually pretty easy-going and tolerant in case of speaking with members of his tribe;

Mel's absence in both prequel movies and main movies has an explanation in my AU;

Despite a deal between him and the alpha of a female minion tribe, Mel wanted to see them again… well, specifically, of all of them he wanted to see the female alpha who he fell in love with long ago - he was looking for the female tribe during prequels (he also got separated from his own tribe for some time);

During Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 Mel was even more desperate for finding the female tribe - he started dealing with insomnia and sometimes he even forgot to eat, so his brothers and nephew had to keep their eyes on him and when necessary, they had to bring him some food or even sleeping pills;

Mel's mental health was getting worse and his reason for trying to convince Gru to return to villainous life was mainly because he wanted to change his focus from finding the female minion tribe to criminal life;

Currently he's back in the criminal life (this time with Dru), however, Mel eventually returned to looking for clues to find the female minion tribe - he quickly realized that the criminal life isn't a distraction to his mind and that he keeps returning to minion girls with his thoughts (or should I say he's returning to one exact female minion?);

Fact: Mel received a kiss from Gru on Despicable Me 1 timeline but off screen. Also, he was the one who took the last photo in Despicable Me 2 (before the last Evil Minion appeared on the scene);

Master Chow's grandson is named Lei - he lives in San Francisco and renewed the family martial art school;

Some minions attends this school, for example Dave (that's why Dave is pretty good at fighting like we saw in "Despicable Me 2");

Edith also attends martial art lessons;

Gru's given name is actually also "Gru" (German origin; meaning "Incredibly Long Nose"), so when the others calls him that, they call him both his birth surname, as well as his given name;

Fact 1: After marriage, Gru's surname was changed to "Gru-Wilde" - Lucy and the girls shares these surnames, too;

Fact 2: "Felonius" is a fake name Gru was using during his villainous life because he thought other villains would laugh at him for having identical given name and surname;

Dru has a friendly-enemy relationship with Gru and Lucy - the only days when they're not fighting against each other is during Dru's days off and during holidays;

Lucy's living relatives are her aunt, her twin brother and her niece;

Lucy's aunt is named Ruby Wilde, she's 71 years old (b. 27th March 1952) and she's on pension;

Lucy's brother is named Thomas "Tom" Wilde, he's 45 years old (b. 8th March 1978; Pisces = the Fish) and runs a family bakery with his husband Damien Fournier (Tom is bisexual);

Lucy's niece (Tom's biological daughter) is named Amber Wilde-Fournier, she's 24 years old (b. 13th July 1999; Cancer = the Crab) and attends University of Toronto (Art History and Visual Culture);

Amber, Tom, Damien and Ruby are those who the female minion tribe (+ Ken and Mike) is living with;

Tom used to have a girlfriend named "Evelyn" who he had Amber with - Amber was an accidental result of one of their "private nights" when they were attending university;

Unfortunately, Evelyn died two weeks after Amber was born (postpartum complications);

Amber doesn't remember her and doesn't bring up this topic, mainly because Tom is very sensitive about it;

Important: This loss affected the start of Tom's way to a new happiness - Tom didn't want to lose another person he likes and wasn't open to deepen the relationship, at first - thankfully, Damien was stubborn and persevered enough, so they eventually ended up as a couple (they got married in 2006);

Amber is the one who's often making designs of pastry to her fathers' shop;

Amber also designed a logo of their bakery, its interior, her own bedroom (current appearance), etc.

Almost all members of the female minion tribe work among the whole Toronto - some of them even work in Tom and Damien's bakery;

Some members of this tribe stay at home, helping Ruby, doing housework etc. - Ken and Mike also stay at home, mainly because of their injuries;

Susie and Viv, two of the minion ladies, hold a role of admins of the WiFi in the house - they are also those who are protecting the house;

Can we also talk about how Bakugou went from "weird haired guy" to "Kirishima. Change of plans". Oh man I didn't realize how much I missed the anime *cries*

BOI CAN’T WE I just spent the whole morning crying over seeing the moment Bakugou recognizes Kirishima as an equal animated nbd at all r i p me - I think this might be the first time Bakugou calls anyone by their name, actually, and I just!!! that’s because Bakugou heard Kirishima’s words and recognized him as a good partner and a worthy hero and someone whom he could respect and I’m gonna be grateful for chapter 133 for the insight on this for the rest of my always I !!!!!! have feelings g a h

Ahhh sorry anon but I really don’t ship that - I mean, it’s true that I ship Bakugou with a bunch of people aside from my main two, but if they’re part of Deku’s group you can fairly assume they’re not between my Bakugou ships? And I only romantically ship Uraraka with Deku, Tsuyu and Iida anyway so! You’re probably not gonna see any romantic baku/ocha from me, sorry o

I have a similar ask somewhere asking about Kaminari’s parents as well, so I guess I’ll answer both here?? As a general rule I don’t really like making headcanons over stuff I’m sure the manga will give me in the future, so I can’t say I’ve thought about this too much - there are a few things I work under the assumption of while drawing, like for example I’m taking for granted they both have at least functional families, considering Aizawa personally visited their homes to ask their guardians about allowing them back to school, and if anything had been weird he would have noticed

I like to think Kaminari got his quirk straight from one of his two parents with no mixing happening, and got the Kaminari surname from them as well, but that’s all I ever allowed myself to settle on as far as Kami’s family goes, everything else changes based on what I need for the current scenario I’m thinking about… I do often end back on him being an only child, though - in the same way depending on how angst or lighthearted I want it to be my ideas for Kirishima’s family change a lot, but generally I think I mostly fall back on the idea of him having a big family? In a scenario like that his parents are kind and love him a lot, but having many children and needing to split their attention on all of them might cause them to overlook him a little (it would explain his obsession with being flashy, for me) then again, who knows? I don’t know how canon you can consider the infos SMASH gives, but in one of the strips Kiri mentions working part-time, and the fact that he doesn’t seem to have problems with money kinda makes me believe he might be independent from his family like that (unless he’s a rich kid, also very entertaining as a possiblity)

I’ve seen a lot of headcanons floating around about both of these guys’ families and possibly being related to villains, that would be cool too, though I’m not sure how much I believe it

I’m sorry this ended up being little to no useful at all lol as I said, I just shift between scenarios a lot - imagine settling on one and growing attached and then having to let it go once Hori proves it wrong, that’d be terrible for me

(I can’t say I share the hc though, since until they fought together during the USJ attack Kirishima did think of Bakugou’s quirk as Everything He Ever Wanted™, but he didn’t seem to be much into Bakugou himself? I dunno I dunno Kiri’s very gay and got around to sticking to Bakugou like glue in something like fifteen chapters I can’t say we saw much of how he used to think of him before deciding he wanted to marry him lmao)
