You leave a little piece of you wherever you go.

The bridge you walked over.

The candy store you stopped outside to watch how they pulled taffy.

The patch of green grass where you ate a red velvet donut.

The building with the symbol you were taught to fear and realized it meant something completely different here.

The four walls you grew inside.

The four walls you live inside now.

The place where you lay your head, the place where you danced in the street, the place where you missed the bus, the place where you cut through the water, the place where you got lost.

There are pieces of you littered all over the world,

and maybe that's not as scary or scattering as others would have you believe.

Because if you close your eyes, and if you breathe deeply, then you know that a piece of you is always going to be there.

And that makes it so easy to return.

#AmyNChanpoetry #I have feelings #I have travelled a lot in my time #and I'm honestly in a cross between very lucky and extremely blessed to have gone to so many places #but as I get older I realize that some of the places that hold my memories won't be easy to get back to #if I ever do #there are dirty streets with yelling merchants in my memories #there are cute little shops with actual pizza #there are streets next to a road of water #there are bagel sandwich shops and sweets shops #there's a river filled to the brim with things I didn't realize would be in a river #there's a little kebab shop with a secret sauce that I will never know the ingredients to #there's a fountain #there are so many places and so many things in my memory #I love them all #I won't be able to go back to them #but I left a piece of me in every place I've visited #and when I close my eyes #I'm able to see those places again #and feel the warmth and excitement and curiosity of those places in my heart again #I just have feelings ok?

I can't remember how much of this is implied canon or my own interpretation, but I fully believed that Chiron recognized Percy was a son of Poseidon from the fountain incident with Nancy Bobofit, knew that a child of the Big Three being claimed would be a total shit show, and simply chose not to say a word about it
