Where do you personally feel Sonic started developing feelings for Amy? I like to think deep down he's had a crush since SA1 but would always brush it aside and be in constant denial to himself about it, before fully realizing "wait I really do love this girl!?" sometime around Unleashed to IDW

P.S. - Ever since reading ILYCWM, I can't stop associating "I Miss You" with these two

since the moment he laid eyes on her in Sonic CD

Lol while this ^ is an interesting take on the ship that I do like to think about sometimes, I’m not sure it’s the easiest to justify! I don’t adamantly disbelieve it though.

That said, I think you’re just about right on the money! Sonic needed to see Amy as an equal (and vice versa, honestly) before any real romantic connection between them could flourish, and that’s what happens in SA1. Amy sets out to be her own hero not only to impress Sonic, but to prove to herself that she can do it (and that she is just as special as he is). Conversely, Sonic needed Amy’s persistence to simmer down into something tangible before he could even engage with it. When Sonic sees more of Amy doing her own thing and even standing up to him, he can actually take her in and like what he sees.

There are some questionable situations between SA1 and Unleashed, for sure (thank you so much, SegaAmerica /s), but more often than not, I think we see a lot of situations where Sonic likes teasing her and having her around. It’s not until Unleashed where they get to interact on more neutral grounds and Sonic brings himself to consider her more seriously.

@multiisketch had an awesome take recently on one of my posts about them (talking about the sonamy idw cover for the 5th anniversary). To paraphrase and simplify, “Sonic rejected his feelings for Amy for so long because the whole idea of her intimidated him so much until she mellowed out.”

So a few things:

- I’m going to make an official notice about it, but Molly Hooper Appreciation Week is being pushed back a week. With the account being hacked and the stress of literally everything else this week, I had no time to work on my two WIP Big Bang fics that were due the 29th of this month, and the mod is amazing and letting me push them back to August...right when MHAW is going on. So in order to give me a chance to have some of the fun too, I’m going to run it August 27th to September 2nd. Hopefully that will get some more of you to be involved too!

- Speaking of WIP Big Bang, all of my remaining fics will be officially posted August 20th - August 25th. So I am going to finish all eleven of them if it kills me. But yes. They WILL get done, and every commission WILL get at least a mini-mixtape from me as well as anything they get from the lovely people at WIP Big Bang (seriously, the art I just saw for “Children Of Light, Children Of Dark”’s title card yesterday is amazing, yo). But this gives me time to write and posted edited parts and stuff. For those not sure what’s left, it’s:

- Personal update: My mom saw her breast cancer surgeon today for a second surgery (it’s a minor one, gallbladder removal) and she also did a quick check with the mastectomy aftermath and everything looks good. SO it’s kind of been a “good news all around” thing, at least in that regard. She’s not expecting complications like I had with mine since my mom’s gallbladder isn’t inflamed, so this is good. I love Dr. Toosi. She’s awesome. But yeah. We just have to get my mom bland food and she’s good until the surgery date.

- Also, my son got a nice gift today. A person who knows him in RL sent him $25 via my PayPal for me to get him some fun stuff. Sadly, $9 got swallowed up by my overdraft and the remaining $7 (plus as much as I can overdraft again) will have to go to getting my mom the food her surgeon ordered, but I managed to get him two movies he really wanted off the Amazon Marketplace in Very Good condition, “The Cat In The Hat” (we both like the Mike Myers version, we’re weird) and the live action “Yogi Bear” movie. I wanted to get him a Squirrel Girl T-shirt but...yeah. That was before talking to Dr. Toosi. But he’ll be stoked with the DVDs as long as they aren’t ex-rentals.

But yeah. Today has honestly been the best day I’ve had in a week so...I’m happy. I’m glad. I had a Good Day even if I’ve been asleep for all but four hours of it and this makes me feel better.

ETA: Also! I’m going to be redesigning this blog and also making afteriwake look pretty because I’m going to keep it as a “just in case” blog with a different email address. So tonight I’m going to look through themes and save pictures and stuff and make graphics and hopefully I will get my sleep cycle fixed to use the office tomorrow and make this blog and afteriwake look pretty.I’m considering, for the moment, turning afteriwake into my fanfic/fanart recommendation blog just to keep it active. I have 9K drafts on here so...we’ll see. So please don’t unfollow it! You might get some really cool stuff from it even though it isn’t going to end up my main blog.
