Sam Golbach - Finding Him Again
Word count: 2000+
Notes: meant for a male reader, no use of 'Y/n'
-----
Sam had been your best friend in 3rd grade. Well, actually, he was your best friend from 3rd to 8th grade. The connection ended because you moved away. Your older sister had gotten a scholarship to UCLA, being the supportive parents that they were your full family moved to L.A. to support her. Causing your seperation with Sam.
Leaving Sam broke your heart to its' core. You had no way of contacting each other and your parents said that you'd simply 'get over it'. You did make new friends but you often told stories of your time with Sam.
"So what about your old home do you miss the most? I heard Kansas was pretty boring." A girl you had met, named Devyn, asked. You had met her through a few other friends and were getting to know her more over a Netflix binge night in your apartment.
"Oh jeez. Um, I miss the fresh air and stuff. But I mainly miss the friends I had to leave behind. I only had a few but they were more than enough. 2 girls and a boy" You said describing them like they were your own kids and you were a suburban white mom.
"Oo. Tell me some stories." She begged and you laughed a little. Devyn was fun to hang out with. The Netflix show continued to play throughout your conversation.
"Okay hm. Well the girls were named Mariah and Katelynn. I only really hung out with them in class and we paired up in some work. The only crazy story I have with them is when we were 7 and a half and we were climbing a tree. We wanted to see what the sun set looked like up there. I fell out of the tree and broke my wrist and these girls didn't think right and they jumped down after me. Mariah sprained her foot and Katelynn was fine. She ran and got our parents who took us both to the hospital and I actually had to get surgery and I still have the scars" You showed the scars on the back of your wrist and she looked at them in interest.
"And the boy?" She asked curiously, sipping the tea like it was a mukbang.
"He was my best friend. For 5 years. We did everything together. We played games, did homework, cheated on tests, created a horrible band, had sleep overs, literally everything. His name was Sam. Well it probably still is, but you know what I mean" she laughed at your joke "the craziest story I have with him is probably the famous story of how we met. It was in 3rd grade that we met. Sam was a geeky kid and I was the kid that always played soccer. So when I was playing soccer against the wall I kicked the ball too hard, it slammed and went flying behind me and smacked Sam hard in the face. My instant reaction was to help him up and make sure he was okay and he was. I went to get the ball and somehow we played together? I think we invented wall ball with a soccer ball" You finished your story and Devyn laughed.
~~~
Devyn had been your friend for two years now. She was moving in with her boyfriend in his house where he had some roommates so you were helping her pack.
"So who are his room mates? Have you met them?" You asked curiously as you wrapped her mugs in paper for safe transfer
"Yeah I have. They're all super nice and kinda cute. Corey is the only one for me though. The others are Elton who is 25 or 26 and he's sweet, Colby is like an inner 12 year old child and he's nice, Aaron is sweet too and innocent, then there is a guy named Sam who is friends with Colby since like freshman year. " Devyn explained and you nodded.
"Sounds fun. 1 girl and 5 guys." You smiled a little as you closed the box.
"Yeah. I'm not the only girl though. Elton has a dog." You both burst out laughing. Soon you had packed the whole kitchen and Devyn was done her living room.
"Thanks for the help! Corey is coming by later to put it all in a truck. Once we are all settled in, we will hold a little get together and you can come by. Sound good?" She offered hugging you tight. You hugged her back happily. You were happy for her. You left to your sad lonely apartment again. The same one you had had for 4 years. You had a nice Cauliflower steak for dinner while watching supernatural and then went to bed. Life was boring for you.
~1 week later~
That name had been begging you forever. Devyn had said she lived with a guy named Sam now. You had tried to convince yourself that it wasn't Sam. It wasn't the Sam you had lost all those years ago. But you couldn't help but hope.
"Hey. You okay?" Devyn asked from next to you, as she was driving to her new home. Your car had been stolen 2 days ago, right out of the parking lot of target. Devyn had been driving you anywhere you needed since then. Which had only been home from target, and now to her new house.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Just thinking." You said with a smile, you were fine actually. You felt good lately, like something really great was going to happen soon.
"Okay. Well this is my street so we are almost there. It's just going to be everyone that lives there, you, and two of Corey's dance friends. So you're not the only guest." Devyn had learned quickly about your out-of-place anxiety. You were extremely anxious of standing out, simply because it always creates awkward situations.
"Oh cool. Thanks." Devyn parked in the driveway of a huge house and got out of her car. The house was bigger when standing up somehow. Devyn led you to the front door and opened it with ease.
"Welcome to my humble home." Devyn laughed gently. Corey noticed the presence in the house and came out of what you could see as the kitchen. He kissed her and hugged you. You had become close with Corey too over the years.
"I'm Elton. I run TFIL" a man with a beard greeted you. He had approached from behind Corey. You shook his hand and bro hugged him happily. He had a welcoming aura to him.
"Oh, yes. I saw a few of your videos before. Your dog is especially beautiful" You smiled and Elton nods before rambling about his dog as the 4 of you wandered to the kitchen and kept talking. Soon a man named Aaron joined after making some egg whites, which you suggested paprika for and Aaron had declared his respect for you on his soul.
"Corey where's Colby and Sam?" Devyn asked and Corey shrugged before walking to the stairs.
"Sam! Colby! Come join our guests!" Corey yelled very loudly. Devyn laughed a little. A few moments passed before a man with brown hair came down shirtless. His blue eyes were caught in the sunlight, so did his muscular torso as he came and sat down. You scrolled through twitter and sipped on a drink Devyn had got you.
"I'm Colby. Sorry for not being fully dressed" Colby introduced himself and laughed awkwardly.
You simply shrugged and responded "don't be. Seeing someone like you shirtless doesn't bother me." You smirked and Colby blushed. Corey snickered at the interaction. Then you heard footsteps coming towards the table and looked up to see a blonde approaching.
He was tall but not as tall as Colby, maybe 5"9. He was in a maroon sweater that said Now or Never on the front and some black skinny jeans. His eyes were blood shot and Colby instantly looked concerned.
"Sam, dude, what's wrong?" He asked worriedly as Sam sat next to him.
"Uh nothing. Just a call from my mom. We were talking about my childhood for a video and it just reminded me of old friends." Sam shrugged. Colby nodded abd hugged Sam with one arm. It didn't take long for some alcohol to be brought out. However you were straight edge. You weren't about to drink.
Devyn had thoroughly introduced you to everyone as her gay best friend. You didn't mind though. There was something about Sam that was like a magnet. There was a connection there and you swear Sam could feel it too. You caught him staring multiple times.
You took a final sip of your soda before putting it down and walking over to Sam "hey." You greeted trying to seem calm.
"Oh hey. Um, what's up?" Sam asked a little awkwardly. Not that he wasn't already being awkward standing against the wall at a get together in his own home.
"Nothing. I was just wondering if maybe you want to go outside? Corey has the music way too loud" You lied. The music was fine. You just wanted some alone time with him. Sam agreed and went to grab two new sodas out of the fridge. Devyn caught your eye and gave you a nod of encouragement.
Outside was a little chilly because of a coastal wind. However you were fine. Climbing to the top of the jumping platform, it was a silent agreement to just sit there and talk.
"So where you from?" Sam asked curiously. "Like now and before" He clarifies quickly making you smile.
"Oh um. Now I live in East hollywood in a little apartment alone. I moved here before highschool to support my sister with my parents. Before that I was in Kansas." You explained taking a sip. Sam widened his eyes slightly but nodded.
"I'm from Kansas too. I moved with Colby when we started youtube." He laughed gently.
The conversation continued smoothly. Little questions that seemed personal for two people that just met. Such as memories of the past, any favourite pets, etc.
"Okay this may seem really weird but what was life like before L.A.?" Sam asked curiously. This was the make or break question.
"Oh. Um. It was good. My parents have always loved my sister more. She succeeded in everything and I was only ever good at soccer. That's how I met my best friend in grade 3. I kicked the ball too hard and it smashed into the wall and then into this kids face. We played together since and grew up together. Supported eachother through thick and thin. In fact... I came out to him a few weeks before I moved. It hurt to move away because he and I grew up together for 5 years and I had to leave him behind." You confessed and Sam instantly teared up.
"Fuck.." He covered his mouth and tried to keep the tears away. Your suspicions were confirmed when he tackled you in a hug and you hugged him back tearing up too. "I didn't think I'd find you again" Sam whimpered. Tears were steadily flowing. You had found your best friend that you lost all those years ago.
- stop reading here if you wish for the story to end simply as friends -
A few minutes had passed before you both were calm enough to speak again. "We owe this to Devyn y'know? If I had never met her-" You started but Sam cut you off.
"Let's not think about that." He seemed scared of that thought. "I have a question though" Sam smiled.
"Shoot" You said leaning against the wooden beams in interest.
"Do you remember what your old best friend did after you came out to him?" He asked and you smirked
"Something like," You leant forward again "this" your hands cupped his cheeks and his lips locked to yours. Fitting together just like they had when you were 12. Your hands moved to around his neck as his pulled you closer by your waist. The kiss was deep, and filled with a love that had a depressing beginning but had never ended.
About an hour of further catching up on what had happened between ninth grade and now, and some more kissing, you both returned back into the house. Devyn gave a knowing look and wagged Sams camera near you both "reunion was filmed" she simply says before leaving back to a plastered Corey.
Sam offered some cuddling, some watching youtube, and a lot more catching up if you joined him upstairs.
"Let's go" You smiled and followed him.
How would the brothers react to their toddler having a temper tantrum
(Thanks for asking. Sorry if they seem out of character at some parts. I’m not sure if you wanted both the Mukamis and the Sakamkis so I’ll only do the Sakamkis for now I hope you you like it. I know you’re a fan of Kanato so I made his a little longer♡)
Ayato: Ayato didn’t know what to do.His child was practically crying bloody murder because he denied the child the ability to go with you to the store. Ayato would offer his kid some of his takoyaki just to get him to calm down. Since that didn’t work he began pace around the house nervously running his fingers through his hair. “Come on little man don’t cry.” he said suddenly getting an idea as he picked the toddler up. “Lets call mommy and talk to her for a bit,”he says pulling his phone from his pocket. The crying child soon began to calm down as the phone rang. “After all I miss her too,” He whispered blushing madly.
Kanato: Kanato was more than annoyed with his daughter. The small toddler was playing with teddy and of course Kanato did not agree and ended up snatching the bear away from her, which caused this predicament. “(S/o) she wont stop!” Kanato whines. You smile as you watch your daughter and your husband glare at each other. “Give teddy,” The small child commands. “No! And who do you think you are talking to me like that!” Kanato retorts. You sigh before going to the closet, and pulling out a paper bag. Your husband and daughter look at you in confusion. You walk over to them putting the paper bag on the floor. “Open it (d/n),” you smile at your child. The teary eyed toddler puts her hand in the paper bag. Her eyes light up as she pulls out a teddy bear that looked just like Kanato’s except it was pink and white. “Oh its just like daddy’s,” the child glows hugging the stuff animal to her chest. You turn to kanato, a faint smile on your lips. “See all is well.“Kanato frowns. “You made that for her?” Kanato asked obviously upset. “Yes, is there a problem?” you questioned. Kanato only higher his teddy bear before leaning up to put his lips to your ears. He whispers something inaudible to the toddler, but to you its fully clear. You blush at the words whispered in your ear. Kanato looks back at you a smile on his face. It’s perceived that he wants your full attention later.
Laito: “What’s wrong princess?” Laito asked the crying toddler. “Mommy says no more sweets!” The child blubbered poking out her lip. “Hm? But aren’t you sweet enough,” he compliments kissing the cute girl. (D/n) sniffles wiping her eyes. She looks at her father red cheeks and teary eyes. “Really?” She mumbles. “Of course sweetheart,” Laito smiles touching foreheads with the child. The small girl let’s out a giggle happy at the sweet words she received from her father. You watched from afar a small smile on your face. ‘Looks like they are finally getting along.’ (Sorry his was so short I ran out of ideas)
Shu: You sighed as you listened to your identical twins whined at you. “I don’t want to go to sleep,” the (h/c) girl cries stomping her foot. “Yeah, how come you and dad get to stay up be we can’t!” The boy jumps in folding his arms. You rubbed your temple in frustration. I turned around to your husband Shu who was laying down listening to his music as usual. “Shu, please help me,” you request. You hadn’t slept in a couple of days due to work so you weren't in the mood for their uncooperative behavior. Shu sits up so the kids could see him. “Hey, would you listen to your mom if we all sleep together?” Shu suggested. Your eyes widened at the idea. You looked back at the twins and they were just as surprised as you. “Well?” He urges. The twins exchange glances before nodding. The children lay in between you and Shu. He kissed the two children on their heads before looking at you. “Thanks,” you whisper as you start to doze off. Shu gives you a small smile before reaching over and kissing you. “Sleep well, dear.”
Reiji: “I want to watch television!” The small purple haired boy shouted at you pointing toward the television. “No, sir you need to do your homework and then you may have your free time but the longer you wait the less time you’ll have to watch TV,” you retort back. But he wasn’t having it. “School is so tedious all I want is some freed time!” He fussed. You were losing it. You hated it when he yelled. Suddenly Reiji walks in not looking at you he walks right over to the boy. He takes the remote from the kid which caused him to get very upset. Reiji merely stated, “Your bedtime is in three hours. Your homework should take you 45 minutes or less. I will return this remote to you once you’ve finished your assignments. If not you will still do your homework but instead go straight to bed.” He finished. (S/n) stares at his father. He said what you said but kind of twisted the word a little bit. There’s no way that’s going to convince him. Or so you thought. “Okay father,” the child said quietly before walking to the table. Reiji walks back to you handing you the remote. You look at him deadpanned as he wraps his arms around your waist kissing your forehead. “I’m home from work, dear.” He smiles.
Subaru: “I don’t want to go to sleep yet. I want to stay in here with you and daddy,” your baby girl cries as she points to the couch where her father sat. You looked over to Subaru who merely covered his mouth in embarrassment. He really wasn’t sure what to do In these situation. You turned your gaze back to the crying child as a smile appeared on your face. “Let’s lay on the couch together. You can lay in the middle so you’ll be next to daddy,” you happily giggle grabbing the child and leading her to the couch. The girl sits next to the white haired male who hesitantly wrapped an arm around her cuddling her closer. You awed in amazement as the now happy child laid her head in her father’s chest. You didn’t hesitate as you planted yourself beside the child. “And you were worried she wouldn’t like you. She loves you a lot honey,” you grin. Subaru blushes at your comment before looking down at the dozing child. A satisfied smile on his face he kisses the child’s forehead. “Y-yeah your right.”
A Few Days Till Love
Elizabeth walked with her group, trudging through dry land. Her breaths were shaky. She could hear the breaths of the group behind her, hoarse and on the verge of wheezing, the group that like her, was looking for a home. The twilight had crashed upon them, and there was immense darkness. Suddenly, a light, golden and glorius shown. When Elizabeth looked up, she saw a towering wall of golden wisps of light, and inside, stretched green fields. Elizabeth wondered for a moment if she was hallucinating, but when she looked back, it appeared that everyone else was seeing the same thing. Reluctantly, Elizabeth put her hand through the wall. Her skin seemed to glow. She was drawn towards the change, and stepped in. Her mind felt at peace, abruptly. She looked to her group and smiled, waving them in. They gasped at their newfound beauty. The people would call this place Perfectus Decore. Perfectus Decore's population grew more and more every day. With almost every child there was beauty. The people were born with the beauty of Gods and Godesses. Almost. "My dearest kingdom, I love you as I love my own blood. That is why, I choose now to give you to my son. He is a smart, kind and reasonable man. You will see that by his looks, he is fit to be your king." King Dolor spoke, projecting his voice to the crowd. "We are nothing but perfect," Prince Adrian sneered. They were as perfect as a rainy sandwich picnic. "and your new King Adrian will only lead us closer!" Adrian stepped into the sight of the Decorean people. He heard gasps. He had always known that even in his people he was exceptionally extra in good looks. Adrian looked at the crowd above him, and he saw why he had wanted to become King so badly. Slaves. The unnatractive were placed as slaves, made to do jobs as gardening, sewing, and in this case, guarding. Among the guards, Adrian saw the most unnatractive boy. He knew be was definitely the most because everyone did. The information was spread when the boy was born. Adrian sucked in a breath. "My fellow citizens. It is if the highest honor to be placed at this position. I thank my parents for lending me it, however, I know there is great responsibility. I also believe that we still have not lived up to our fullest potential, but, I will lead you there." Adrian heard cheers, but felt nothing. He knew that these peoe thought that ugly meant evil. He knew that that couldn't possibly be true, because everyone HAD to be different. He rode back home on his stallion, and rested his head after hours of attempting a speech to covince people to oppose slavery. When Adrian woke up, he heard a small clink and knew it was Abigail, a young maid girl who delivered him tea everyday. Adrian stretched and yawned. "Thank you Abigail dearest." He griggily said. She nodded curtly and opened her mouth to speak. "Lord Dolor wishes for you to hunt today. I have left a map on your tea tray, you will be going with an unnatractive, sadly however, it is most likely Jackson Orwell, the boy..." her voiced trailed off, but Adrian knew what she meant. He drank his tea and was on his way. When Adrian saw the slave boy, he wanted to think nice, but it was hard because... Jackson WAS ugly. Really, really ugly. Everything about him seemed to be drab. But, Adrian smiled. "Jackson Orwell? You've made quite a name. I suppose you know how to hunt?" Jackson nodded, looking directly through Adrian, a rock could've shown more emotion. But Adrian could see the slight shake of his hands. "Well, let's get going." Jackson and Adrian rode their horse quietly, unnatractive were rarely allowed to ride their own steed, looking for any game. "There seems to be a lack of animals..." Adrian stated, knowing what he was saying was extremely obvious. Jackson's eyes seemed to widen at this sudden start of conversation. "There has been r-rumors that the magic is weakening, and its killing them." "No, I doubt that. If that were so, our buildings and stunningness would fade." "Your stunningness would fade, mine would not even exist in the first place." Adrian was surprised at his outburst of self-loathing. Or any emotion from Jackson. Adrian had assumed he had the personality of a garbage can. He opened his mouth to speak, when his stallion stopped rather abruptly and neighed. Adrian looked in front of him and saw a small home. He could also see grey wisps of magic surrounding it, which clashed with the edge of Perfectus Decore's golden border. Jackson jumped off the horse and looked at Adrian with a look. He knew what it meant. "You always have permission to speak when it's just us, Mr. Orwell." Jackson's mouth opened and he took a step back. Adrian was sure no one said anything like that before, or even call him Mr. "You look like a fish when you do that. Go on, say what you need." "Its uh- there's a woman, or a girl, its hard to tell, in there." Jackson pointed to the small home and sure enough, there was a girl. "Shouldn't we get her?" Adrian asked. Jackson nodded. Adrian pulled a sword from his weapons belt and leapt, graceful as a dying ostrich, off of the horse. "Follow us, Doo Roo." He said. Jackson pulled a look. "You named him... Doo Roo?" He asked. "Don't make me take away your talking rights, Orwell." Adrian snapped, fending off memories if his child self not knowing how good names worked. Adrian saw as Jackson shut his pretty little fish mouth and began walking towards the field of dark magic, Jackson right by him. Adrian saw the girl look up, and she began bolting towards them. The moment she crossed out the field, she looked as if she realized something. Something happened in those small moments, but apparently there were 2 giant wolves almost 4 times as large as the girl, who appeared to be the tallest of the three. Adrian and Jackson attempted to take down the wolves, but were struck down in pain by agonizing claw marks. Adrian panicked as the girl picked up his sword, not knowing if she was well trained to fight. Hell yeah she was. She took down the wolves in a few minutes, killing them both. She looked proud for a moment, but her smile dropped. She ran over to the boys, shouting "AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH" the whole way. "I am so sorry! I forgot that there were people dying over here!" She was very panicky. She plopped down next to Adrian and Jackson, and began to heal them with magic. "I'm lucky at least. I met two boys like you." Jackson raised an eyebrow. "I mean the two of you are handsome. M'names Penelope." Jackson's eyebrow raised higher. "What do you mean? I'm ugly, and so are you." Penolope looked taken aback, and Adrian laughed. "Were you born here, Penolope?" Adrian asked, sitting up. "No, um... I'm from the outside. When we got in something about something didn't work so the King made me and my ma stay in the remote place. Ma died not to long ago," she began rambling but stopped, and her cheeks flushed. "I speak a lot. Sorry." "The magic wall didn't work. Not a first. Makes people look nice." Adrian stated. "And if course they hid you. They think unnatractive is evil, and you are a very pleasant young lady." Jackson added. Penelope flushed, then Jackson did a miraculous thing. He smiled. It was like the Gods pitied the other two and sent down a gift, Halle-fucking-lujah, look at that warmth. Adrian smiled as well. "Perhaps we can spend the night somewhere, its getting dark-" he cut off. "Penelope, why are you so eager to be with us? Its um... a bit creepy." "I told you. I was locked in there for a damn long time... Now that the magic is down, maybe you can spend the night in my house. Adrian stood, and so did Jackson. "Your kindness knows no bounds." Adrian thought out loud. Jackson nodded and Penelope smiled and walked into towards the home. "Your kingdom's does if they base everything off of looks." Jackson made a whistling noise, and Adrian glared at him. The night was well, with Doo Roo sleeping in the back with Penelope's horse Hayley. Adrian looked at Jackson and Penelope who were sitting next to each other, laughing. Without him needed. Adrian rolled his shoulders and stepped outside. Maybe night would keep him company. He took a deep breath, then exhaled quickly realizing it smelt awful. He walked back inside to notice that the two were sitting closer together now. As if they were one melting ooey gooey thing. Adrian thought. What the heck was that? You need sleep. Adrian also thought. "Where might we sleep, dear Penelope?" He inquired. "My mother's room is upstairs, but one is gonna have to share, there's only mine and hers." She answered, her voice soft. Jackson looked into her eyes as she spoke. "I will share with King Adrian if he does not mind it. I wouldn't want us to feel uncomfortable to share a bed with a woman who isn't my lover." Penelope nodded and tidied up. "Thank you, Penelope, for taking us into your care." Jackson added, before trudging up the stairs. Adrian stared. "You going to sleep?" Penelope asked. "I don't know, I'm not all that tired, plus I've never shared my bed with someone. Seems odd." Adrian questioned his secpnd answer. He wouldn't be uncomfortable sharing with Penelope or his own parents. He guessed he just disliked Jackson. Or didn't trust him. "Well, sit down, chat with me till you feel tired." Penelope commanded. Adrian sat down. "Tell me more about the place you come from, and apparently rule." "A long while ago, it was founded by outsiders, who came in and started a home. The population grew, along with laws abd culture... Everything there is beautiful." Adrian thought for a moment, and scoweled. "Except the slavery. You see, people think that being ugly means you are evil, so they put them as slaves." Penelope looked up. "Jacky... is he a slave?" She looked back to him. "Yes. He has been deemed the ugliest in the land." "Hmm... where I come from, he's pretty handsome." "I guess I could agree. Lately I've been seeing things from outside our country, and been realizing we're the odd ones. I've been attempting to see from a different worldview. You know, one without slavery." "How'd you come to be king?" "Originally, they were going to give it to my sister. You see, royalty is chosen by, brace yourself, you might die of shock, looks. If a child has more beauty than the king, he or she is the heir. Then, it goes down by family until the cycle restarts. If you are to have two children, the prettier is the heir. My sister and I were the same in looks, so we had a petty week long fight. It once got so bad I bloodied her nose with a pillow. So yeah, she gave up." Penelope laughed. Adrian smiled. "I was passionate to end slavery, I guess." "That's cool." Adrian nodded, then yawned. "Sleep, Pillow Boy. Tell Jacky that you can stay here for as long as you need." Adrian nodded then smiled. After bidding Penelope a good night, he walked upstairs to see a sleeping shirtless "Jacky". He saw whip marks on his rather pale back, compared to Adrian's own dark skin. Adrian shimmied into bed , careful not to wake the sleeping man, who he realized he did not know much about, and while thinking that thought, he fell into rest. Adrian woke and was in sudden panic. This wasn't his bed. Who's this person next to him- he put his hand out. Oh. Right. Jackson. "...King Adrian?" It was muffled. Adrian pulled his hand away and sat up. "My apologies, Jackson. I was confused. Or, should I say 'Jacky'?" Something about his closeness with darling Penelope upset him. Jackson flushed and shrunk away. "I like having a nickname..." He stated quietly. Adrian scoffed. "By the by, Penelope said she is letting us stay for as long as we need." Adrian walked downstairs, where an aroma hit his nose. He saw Penelope, and breakfast. Food, yay. He heard heavy footsteps behind him and knew they were Jackson's. Adrian stepped out of his way. Jackson looked at him. He looked concerned. When Adrian glared ever so slightly he walked away. Adrian then followed and sat at the table they ate at last night. "Penelope, you don't have to care for us." He said. "Well, you tried to save me so I might as well." She hummed. "Emphasis on tried. We kind of just flailed around these sharp metal sticks and almost got mauled." Jackson sounded glum. Penelope recognized this and changed the subject. "What were you doing out there anyways?" "Hunting. Didn't find much though." "Oh- uh... haha..." Penelope nervously laughed. "That's the magic. Whatever animal crosses that magical field a- dies, b- gets used for those wolves. My mom made it, in case anyone attacked." "Attacked?" Jackson asked. "My dad would do that. Just have his mercy run down and not let you live here. Genuine dick, he is." "You are what you eat?" Penelope asked. Adrian choked on his food and Jackson bit his lip. Penelope smiled. They spent two days more in Penelope's home, getting to know each other. They found out that Penelope was latina, and a lot of where she came from, her family. Adrian took an interest, and so it seemed, did Jackson. Jackson spoke of slave life. Adrian would always listen. He spoke of dear childhood memories. Sometimes, he and Jackson hung out by themselves. Jackson told Adrian he had to be passionate about his speeches, and Adrian told him he should speak up more, he was interesting. One day, while they were cleaning, Adrian paused. "Maybe... we should head home today." "Only if I come with." Penelope said. Jackson nodded. "When should we leave?" Penelope dropped everything. "Now." They were almost there, Adrian and Jackson on Doo Roo, and Penelope on Hayley. "When we get there, I'm going to have to convince a whole country and a council to give unnatractives rights. I'll need your guys' help." "No problem." Replied Pen. "Oh no, I'd rather not have rights. I miss the whippings." Jackson remarked. Adrian laughed. Finally, they were in the actual town. Adrian smiled. He realized now how much he longed to return. They quickly fed their steeds and walked into town. Adrian was approached by people, worried and amazed. He waved it all off and called for a meeting, for people to hear what he had to say. When it started, he had no idea what to say. Adrian looked back at Penelope and Jackson and raised an eyebrow. Jackson put a hand on his opposite shoulder. "Tell them what happened, go on from that, OK?" He smiled. Adrian straightened his back and began speaking of why he was gone for so long. Then he pushed more passion out, more words out, all for rights. They booed. Adrian glared. He would meet with the council anyways. The council was silent, they all looked at Jackson and Penelope with suspicion and curiosity. "My f-fellow council members," Adrian began. Jackson glared at him. Adrian took a deep breath. "I have come here to speak about the rights of unnatractives." Adrian and the council argued, Jackson and Penelope weighing in occasionally. Finally, there was silence. "We... shall cast the vote now." Adrian's voice was dry. He watched as the council picked up the paper in front of them and wrote their answer. It was a simple yes or no. They got the votes. Adrian read them, and smiled. "Oh, Lord." Adrian heard Jackson say. Instinctively, they tightly hugged. Penelope hugged Adrian, even tighter than Jackson did. "Now, King Adrian, you must convince the people." Adrian felt dizzy. "Yes... yes of course." He once more stood in front of his people. "My citizens, I am here to announce that the rights law has passed." There was mighty roars from the crowd. Adrian saw his father and mother look disappointed. "Penelope... your ma was a witch, right?" Jackson asked quietly. "She was." "Are you?" "Yes..." "Can you share memories, their sight and sound?" "I can." She looked proud. "Do it. Show them all my memories." Penelope looked stunned, but obliged. Jackson showed everyone awful memories of pain and sorrow. He looked sick. Adrian looked to him, then went up and hugged him. Jackson shuffled, but hugged back. A million questions went through Adrian's head. Was he himself in love with Penelope? Was he willing to give up the huge part of him just so Jackson could be happy? He remembered everything Jackson said about his life, every awful bit. Yes. He was willing. Months had passed. People slowly became more accepting of the unnatractive. Jackson himself, had actually spent time properly courting his lover, instead of random lonely meetings in a small cabin in the middle of nowhere. Now, he was in front of an altar. He heard the footsteps behind him and held his breath. He never thought have this for so many reasons. The footsteps stopped. He looked to his side to see Penelope, in a lovely white dress. He sighed and smiled at her. "Can you tell him to not wimp out on our wedding?" He mouthed. "Why can't you?" "Don't have the heart." "Fiiine..." She turned her head towards the side. "Aid, I swear to god I will smite you. Get up there, get married." She commanded. The footsteps came back for a brief time, and Adrian was by Jackson's side. The priest started his vows but Jackson didn't really listen. "I do." He firmly stated. The priest asked Adrian. "Y-yeah... um... uh m-me too." He said, shaking. "You can now kiss the nervous mess." The priest said. With that, Jackson leaned in, and their lips fit together.
