Leverage Redemption Log: The Bucket Job

Title makes me think "bucket list"? either that or Keeping Up Appearances? (had to google "that show with the bucket woman" to remember the name) --- bells are playing and there is a giant semi-hollow pipe-structure of a snowman outside the building we're in. Its Christmas Special Time.

Librarian is giving the children some classic reading recomendations based on his knowledge of their likes (the girl likes pirates, which is a nice little gender-stereotype breaking to sneak in there without drawing attention to the subversion. Love it when shows feel confident doing that without the need to detract by boasting about it.) Young Man used to get Sherlock Holmes.

And the librarian is having a heart-attack... --- Harry is calling his daughter. His daughter doesnt want to spend the holiday with him because Mom is going on vacation to some resort (I think Aspen is a resort town in the states?) Ok either he has a son as well as a daughter, i am misremembering him as having a daughter, The daughter might be trans, or Nick is short for Nikita/vero-Nic-a, or Nick is more gender-neutral as a name then i thought (wouldnt be the first time, i went years thinking Sam was exclusively a female name because the only "sam" i ever heard of was from Totaly Spies). I am not sure which is the case. (im gonna place money on its a shortened-nickname though) Ok Sophie confirms its a daughter.

Elliot has been cooking, Parker is taking the long-distance part of Long Distance Relationship a bit hard around the holidays.

Knock on the door: its Doyledude. He's asking for Elliot by full name (sus). --- Doyledude's gay and his dads a preacher who didn't aprove of "woke" books like Charlie and the chocolate factory. (Yes Christians are that bad. Source: My dad got a chainletter that refered to the antichrist as an "avatar" of satan once and "The last airbender" and the blue smurfs were both insta-banned from the household forever).

--- "I am totally fine with revenge it allows us a range of outcomes the mark deserves". good line.

"Guess theres a lot of maurice's out there" KNEW IT, the moment they named him "blanche" i suspected we were gonna be getting a Maurice Leblanc reference. (of course they'd go for Arsene Lupin in an episode about the importance of libraries)

Harry's "so do I" is a simple joke but it lands well. 8/10.

I think we found todays villain: Its the guy harassing a homeless man for using the library. (fuck that guy) Ok ominous cut of someone taking pictures of Elliot. --- Sophie is walking around the theatre loading 100 checkov's guns at once (confetti cannon, Parker is booking a helicopter, red sportscar, Harry has a cane)

Sophie does a speech about the team needing to remember that this is a good person.

Elliot has gotten some of his old budies to work stuntmen. Parker is asking the very crucial heart-attack related question. Our safeword is Winnebago (google says its a campervan? Honestly, if it werent for the whole "automobiles are deathmachines I dont trust myself with" angle, i'd like one.) --- Librarian dude takes one look at the red sportscar and just thinks "dafuq kinda spy are you?" before stealing a regular car like a sensible person on the run from crooks would.

So, clearly the guy is either a someone bad upbringing who brought himself around, or an actual retired spy himself, who reads those books primarily out of nostalgia.

Ok its misspent youth, also the way he casually tosses the phone out the window. Love this guy. --- Im gonna be honest, while i apreciate the consistency of parker still being the Christmas Monster, the way her characterisation has mellowed out to using store-brand santamugs after she was first introduce as off-the-wall enough to use priceless jewelry as garlands is weird to me.

Breanna carelessly dismisses an attack on their own firewalls and servers. Harry's moustache is bad but the eyepatch is worse. --- Four stars? Comeon man. (good improv)

Actual Goons are here! "take spencer" knew it! no way that Doyledude would know Spencers full name. Mr Blanche has stolen a sportsbike. --- Turns out yeah, he was a former spy. Its RIZ bitch (did we get a name? I dont remember) she's looking for "the ledger" (presumeably a list of secret identities. We're looking for a book kept by a librarian. Its in the library. Probably that book samurai book he's been reading regularly) Ok so this is definitly becoming a recurring thing with the way she first used Elliot to find which guys to hire and is now talking about making him an instructor. Is she the secret person he's been phone-ing that breanna was asking about this whole episode? (i thought it was the Supercop from Arlo) --- Blanche has a gun pointed at our heroes. PTSD in a bottle, cause thats a thing that exists now. Wilson is still holding old job secrets from them? Thats... weird. --- Wait, Elliots dad is alive? But I thought that the episode ending implied otherwise? (Might be me being bad at understanding the subtext of that scene, might be a retcon) --- Mr Blanche has already beaten all the guards in the time it took a drugged out Elliot to break a chair. (Pretend to be the new guy, classic "heavy object in a sock" prison-improv weapon. 8/10, guy knows what he's doing, but is also a bit rusty and forced into improv mode) --- Turns out, he didnt retire because he wanted to retire but because no one would believe the ledger was destroyed. Luckily floppy disks suck at long-term storage.

Harry is talking with his old boss, trying to be the angel on his shoulder while the boss is trying to be the devil on his. (still really odd that we went through the trouble of establishing our heroes broke in to find Harry's ledger of old sins and that we're now going the "Harry wont tell them his old sins" route.) --- Copperhead and Elliot are talking. Copperhead does not want to go out by cancer. (we're faking his death and assigning him to International arent we?) --- Confetticannons are a go-go! (they're meant to simulate pages being shot by guns)

Blanche got disarmed and shot with his own gun. (definitly a death-fake) --- Huh, RIZ-woman doesnt actually kill the guards who fail her objectives. She just blackmails them into following their NDA's. (profesional)

Ace Attorney Atla AU !!

one of the first towns Team Avatar visits is a Fire Nation colony in the Earth Kingdom. it’s not their fault, the ship was going there and they probably should’ve checked before but - yeah ok it’s kind of their fault they got there. the day they arrive is also the same day a certain General Karma arrives in town

turns out he was the one to conquer it, almost 15 years ago, and he came back for the anniversary. he is a big scary man with some big scary armed men with him, and the team agrees to not stay in here too long

except Chihiro disappears while Mayoi and Ryuuichi are pondering what animal is scary enough to be compared to the General, because that’s what she does. she disappears. they find her sitting near what seems to be ruins of... something. a destroyed house probably

as it stands, this place is the grave of the late mayor of the town, who died almost 15 years ago, during the attack from General Karma. he was crushed by his own house, but doesn’t remember it. oh yeah, Chihiro was talking to him, that’s also a thing she does

anyway, Team Avatar is planning to retreat and like, camp somewhere, but because they have no luck General Karma and the Governor of the town arrive just at that exact moment. so they hide, because they’re cowards. or well, Ryuuichi and Mayoi hide, Chihiro laughs and then follows them

the General and the Governor discuss the “festivities” for the 15th anniversary. General Karma decides that he doesn’t like this place, that it’s an insult to him and that keeping this “monument” to a resistance hero is a terrible idea and should never have been a thing in the first place

(the Governor doesn’t remind Karma that he isn’t responsible for this, that he’s only been Governor for 2 years and that there would probably be riots if they did away with the grave, because it’s useless and Karma definitely knows this already)

so, to celebrate the 15th anniversary, in 3 days, the grave will disappear

Team Avatar is justifiably horrified, and it doesn’t get any better when the Governor leaves and General Karma monologues to the grave of his old enemy that, truly “your son is as stupid as you were”

no ominous at all

(later, they will learn that the Governor is, in fact, the son of the late mayor Mitsurugi, and that he was taken as a war trophy to the Fire Nation 15 years ago, only coming back 2 years ago as Governor personally appointed by General Karma)

(Mayoi then decides it is her duty as Avatar to fix this shitty situation and get General Karma the beating he deserves. so she tells Ryuuichi to get closer to the Governor so they can learn more)

Reiji, of the Mitsurugi household (though he doesn’t consider himself a member of this household anymore), is the current Governor. Though originally an earthbender, the events of 15 years ago have left him unable to bend, and he has tried to “fix” this by studying many different forms, both fire and earth. It didn’t work, but it made him well prepared to face (and destroy) lots of fighters. He kept his past abilities a secret to General Karma. Probably too serious. Has a serious phobia of earthquakes, and as such his stay in the Fire Nation was... pretty harsh on him. Even without accounting for General Karma or his daughter

Keisuke is a member of the town’s guard, and often doubles as personal guard for the Governor. His father is Earth and his mother is Fire. He is proud of both sides of his heritage and will often try to mix up colors when wearing casual clothes. Tends to get involved in barfights, mostly because he tries to stop them. Does his best

both end up joining Team Avatar more or less on purpose. no ok Reiji is sort of kidnapped by Team Avatar to become Mayoi’s teacher and Keisuke follows along, barely noticed by the others. he becomes part of the team long before Reiji even considers it

PLEASE elaborate on your glitchtechs ninjago au !!

SURE!!

so this is unpolished as fuck because i only just thought of the au this afternoon so i apologise if this doesn't make much sense for now, feel free to ask for me to explain more or something if you need me to!!

So its basically just the concept to glitchtechs being shoved onto ninjago, hinobi tech becomes borg industries and borg, whilst a seemingly friendly enough guy is very much more of an unseen higher power like how the guys who run the company (at least as of right now) are in glitch techs.

The system that borg has is pretty much the same that hinobi has, borg industries has several shops across ninjago that sell products whilst also dealing with glitches behind closed doors, all specifically located at or near gaming/population hotspots for easy access to the glitches.

the ninja are all part of the same store together, each of them having their own specialties. the au wouldnt necessarily have a main focus but if i were to give roles for who five and mikos replacements are it would be jay and nya, despite their varying dynamics.

the elemental alliance show up at points in the au as glitch techs from other stores that face off/ have a bit of a friendly rivalry with the ninjas store

none of them have their elemental powers, BUT their fighting styles would definitely be influenced by them, eg, zane using freeze bubbles to stun glitches and long range weapons whereas kai uses very short range weapons and probably got a fire breath power up at some point.

the digiverse and prime empire would probably have a major role in the show, the digiverse acting almost like a cloud for all the games that borg tech releases, and prime empire being one of the games that gets released mid story and causes a bunch of problems in terms of glitches and other stuff. i also like the idea of including the idea of jays bio mum being the powersource for prime empire that was scrapped by the show itself, im not sure how id do it yet but i have a few ideas that i might talk about once theyre a bit more fleshed out.

now to the ideas lightning round!!

x cole is their manager despite being only like a year older than most of his co workers and gets an insane amount of joy from pissing off karens who asked for the manager only for his weed smoking dumb ass to show up like "wassup kiddos"

x zane is still a nindroid in this au, his memoriy cant be wiped using the normal memory wiping beams and so he followed the glitch techs back to their base and kinda just stuck around. cole, who was the one to supposedly wipe his memory, is kinda like "what the fuck u remember" and demanded answers which is how they found out that hes a robot.

x half the team find zane really scary at first because hes literally a 6ft3 hunk of metal with no tact at all

x all of zanes gaming avatars have pink incorperated into the outfit in some way

x jay once challenged zane and lloyd to a dance dance revolution battle, they all had the most extravagant avatars made to look like vocaloids. it was the most ott thing ever and the competition lasted an entire day. lloyd won.

x lloyds specialty is the companions, he loves working with them and has a green salamander that sits on his head 24/7

x kai joined the team after nya, expecting it to just be a regular retail job and promptly freaks out over the fact that he has to fight giant kaiju monsters from video games. he rants about it to skylor at the end of his first day and she just laughs and says "you know, if i didnt already know about all this, youd be in big trouble"

x karlof is the manager for another area and him and cole are besties that have a scoreboard keeping track of how many glitches theyve managed to take down by themselves

x pixal takes on the role as bitt and likes to just stomp around the office in her massive fighting suit for fun.

thats all for now but i will be adding more as time goes on because this au is honestly so fun for me, ive been having a blast so far just thinking of the different games to include as well as just the lore!! because season 2 of glitch techs kinda left on a major cliff hanger so we dont know much of the specific lore ive kinda been building this on my own assumptions for what could happen lore-wise as well as just having fun with the goofy work-family aspect of it ^^

plus all of your friends and the other kids, bulled you endlessly

so when you met team avatar

it seemed like the perfect chance

maybe you could be of some use to them

even though you weren’t the best because of your leg

you were still intelligent

plus you knew healing practices that could be of some use to the group

so along the way you met Zuko

you bonded a little bit because of the imperfections that you both had

while he was blunt

their was still a caring side to him

and the longer that the two of you were around each other, even within the group

you found yourself growing more and more attached

falling further and further in love with him

but your insecurities were never far from your mind

he was a prince for heaven’s sake

why would he ever want something so disgusting in a partner

one day, while the two of you were out and about in disguise in a small fire nation village

a group of children began teasing you for your limp

you ignored it the best you could

at one point, you and Zuko had gotten separated briefly

He had gone off to look for something while you were heading to the town square for a quick rest

But you never made it 

A group of kids came back to tease you some more

it was all stuff that you had heard before

but then one of them shoved something in front of your foot

and you fell

laughs came from every direction while you were struggling to get up 

the girl that had tripped you knelt down to you

you recognized her as a girl that had been flirting with Zuko earlier while buying food

once you had rejoined him, you handed your stuff to him as he finished bagging it all up

the girl had been glaring at you

if looks could kill, you would have been a pile of bones

now she whispered in your ear

‘i hope you know that someone as ugly as you could never have someone as beautiful as him’ she seethed ‘what a burden you are’

looking back on that remark, you thought that if she knew who he really was that you would defiantly be six feet underground

tears welled in your eyes as the laughing continued

you got up and ran as fast as you could, not knowing where you were going

the laughing became harder as you struggled to run, which just made you feel worse

eventually you made it to a secluded ally where you collapsed and began to sob

‘she’s right’ you thought to yourself ‘im such a burden. if i hadnt come, i wouldnt have been slowing them down so much while they were trying to move along. why am i here?’

running feet pounded nearby with someone’s frantic breathing.

“Y/N!” a voice called to you

you looked up with tears in your eyes just in time to see zuko throw himself on you in a hug

‘are you ok?” he asked frantically

this was the most emotion that you had ever seen him with

you wiped your tears from your face and nodded

he looked like he didn’t believe you

‘what happened?’ he almost growled while asking the question

you spilled everything without even thinking about it

everything that happened, what they said, how you felt like a burden, everything

once you were finished you breathed deeply and almost sobbed again

zuko looked at you with a blank face and a jaw clenched

he grabbed you and clutched your body close to his own once again

‘dont you ever EVER think that you are a burden. EVER!’ he seethed. 

his heart was beating fast

you were shocked at his tone

‘what?’ you whispered

zuko sighed, cupping your face with his hands and pressed his forehead to your own

‘you are not a burden y/n. i love you too much to ever consider you to be a burden.’

everything in you froze

“you-” a harsh swallow forced its way down your throat. ‘you love me?”

you stared in Zuko’s eyes

and he stared back at with an extreme amount of intensity before replying to your question

‘yes. i love you. i love you for who you are, as a person. not the way you look. the limp you have is no matter to me. it’s just part of who you are. part of the person i love.’

a few more tears fell from your eyes

zuko placed a quick, soft kiss to your lips

after everything that had happened today

and all the comments that you had heard through your life

washed away from the feeling of warmth zuko had given you

you knew that they wouldn’t go away forever after this one incident

yes, no one asked for my opinions, yes I will give them anyway, yes because I have decided making a bunch of meaningless decisions and arguing for them will improve my mental state, yes I watched the show all in one very sleep deprived go and i’m not interested in rewatching it so yes I have absolutely no sources, yes this is a really long grammatical nightmare because I don’ t know how to be succinct and i use way more words than necessary at any opportunity because if my point doesn’ t come across exactly like i intend it will greatly upset me, no I have not yet watched Korra or read the comics because i’m tired now let’s do this.

haters say katara was just the avatar’s trophy girl, as if aang didnt kiss the ground she walked on and wouldnt stop telling anyone how amazing she is. Katara was the first face he saw from the new world and they immediately became friends. she was so excited to meet another bender, he clearly is trying to impress her and it is working, he listens to her about bending and offers to take her to the other side of the world to master water, TELL ME at this moment she is not ride or die and she doesn’t even know he’s the avatar, he lets her feel like a kid again, which is a feeling she’s forgotten after years of being a mother to sokka and the children. he literally sweeps her off her feet to save her from the fire nations ship i-. rewatched boy in the iceberg and hoo boy had canon not messed it up, this ship could have been legendary

hard to imagine older them working out what with the whole last airbender, preserve air nomad culture, let’s travel the world bc nomadic lifestyle, what’s marriage i’m a monk without biological family values vs last southern waterbender, preserve southern water tribe culture, I believe in the power of family and am ridiculously dedicated to my tribe,  let me go home to my father and tribe shtick, but I don’t care for after the show finishes much except for following the gang fix the world so I don’t really care about the marriage issue

canon was good until that Mess in season 3, WHY did he kiss her after that speech, wish they talked that out properly, wish he learned letting go of her to open the 7th chakra was the only right decision, wish the ending was a little more vague in ships and just left things open but yk whatever

that finale kiss was sweet, they hugged foremost as friends, no blushing, and then got the fuzzies, that moment standing alone? a+ but without any talking about what happened on ember island, a little unsatisfying

overall, fine ship, not my favourite nor do I actively ship it, but I see a kataang moment, i’m like, sweet so I give it a 6

Zutara (apparently fans are zutarians which looks like an alien race, plus points)

latter half of the show had quite a lot of Zutara potential, but idk about Zutara actual

katara was so ready to drop his ass, no way at the start

there is only one dynamic between them in which I can see Zutara working and that is as in the Stalking Zuko by emletish series where katara is so distrusting over zuko she takes to stalking him to make sure he isn’t doing anything to hurt Aang or about to betray them (her) again but he is just such a sweet dork who keeps trying to apologise to her even while she’s apologising to him for being a bitch that she can’t help but start to trust him, i’m a third into the third book in the series not stalking firelord zuko and I am thriving and tbh this is the only situation where I accept zutara, read the series I love it

age gap is weird, I know it’s the same difference between kataang but they made a point of zuko being older in the show also he’s so much taller and I don’t like 16 year old boys with 14 year old girlfriends in real life and so would katara because jet

katara has a bad experience with bad boy sword weilders (jet) but I guess you could see it as the start of her type idk

they are both the moms of the Gaang. sokka is the fun dad.

there is a parallel between their families, with the leader of their people dad, mom who left the picture when they were young, an older brother who is not a prodigy at/can’ t bend their respective element so they become proficient at swords instead, prodigy at bending younger sister with a violent streak. this is why I see zutara as potentially a really close friendship, almost siblings, but not a romance because to me katara is a little too like azula for comfort...

tbh I think a lot of folk shipped it because ooh fire boy and water girl (not the game) that’ s perfect, and bam army of zutarians

overall, kind of weird but ok and good grounds for humour so I give it a 4

Jetkara (bad ship name, why would you like this, minus points)

Jet is bad. yes Katara really liked him, yes he was definitely her first kiss and she would definitely consider him her first boyfriend but they would not define it because it’s easier to manipulate someone when it’s unclear what your relationship is and Jet is bad, with his weird fricking eyebrows and not even real swords those hook swords

short but so sweet. not the first thing people remember from watching the tales of ba sing se (brb going to rewatch and cry) but really cute, so here’s a running commentary

his first thought was she knew they were fire nation rather than a pretty girl sat in a teashop giving him looks because she had a crush omg

that honest surprise when his uncle suggested she liked her and then she walked up and asked him on a date, adorable

anyone who looked at that god-awful hairstyle and still thought he looked cute has it bad also aww that hair ruffle and the little grab onto his arm

he’s pushing his food around and she’s trying out ice breaker questions and recieving one word responses he has no idea what he’s doing

“she is not my GIRLFRIEND” he’s not over Mai, clearly but he still is trying his best to be a good date even if he’s terrible at making conversation

anyone who sat through that date and the bad lying and the stilted conversation and still thought he was cute has it bad 

he is So Bad At Lying he just told the truth very vaguely and then bam travelling circus

jin so knows the two are fire nation, the whole date she just politely ignores the clear lies and doesn’t react to the obvious firebending, what an icon we love jin

Yue dying devastated him and he never falls out of love with Yue. her last words “[she] will always be with him” are true. swamp visions show Yue as one of the most important people in his life like a season or so after he last saw her. he wouldn’t kiss suki in front of the moon, and cries when Yue appears on stage, ignoring Suki. he talks about the moon as if it is directly Princess Yue in that cactus juice scene.

me  since book 1 of legend of korra when  ever people try to claim mako was a womanizer, gary stu ( which requires a misunderstanding of what a gary stu is nad  makos character   people have thrown that term around to any character they dont like ) , or creators pet , manipulator    ,  when that was never the case     ( he never was  mako is a human being who makes mistakes the narrative always acknowledged his flaws as things that needed to be worked on the idea that if a character makes mistakes and isnt specifically punished for them and good things happen to him afterwards   its rewarding him for his flaws is nonsense    the claim that he needed to suffer or have good things taken from him is bs  korra was just as responsible for the love triangle as mako and claim that mako ending the show single was karma is nonsense he shouldnt be punished for not being perfect and making mistakes ( which is why korrasami only became popular due to the hate for mako and a desire for lgbt rep not due to any actual chemistry or because it would make sense ( korrasami was thrown in at the last minute as a retcon and publicity stunt/political statement optimistic view : bryke genuinely thought they would be doing good  and helping people  they compromised the story  narrative by throwing it in at last minute  cynical  publicity stunt either way they tried to cover their asses by casting aspersions on critics

Biggest change to the initial setup?  No Prince Wu.  Instead of an obnoxious overgrown child of a Prince, our heir apparent is introverted, lacks the confidence to refuse just about anything, and is terrified of being in front of crowds.  He’s the (implied-to-be illegitimate) child of a distant relative of Hou-Ting and a Republic City citizen.  Oh, and he’s all of ten years old.  In other words, everything about him screams “Raiko chose this kid as a convenient puppet” (instead of offhandedly implying it once and forgetting about it as was done with Wu). All of the time Wu wastes on comic relief in After All These Years is used to explain the political situation: the prince is a figurehead meant to display the trappings of royalty and legitimize Raiko’s chosen advisors.  Kuvira’s supporters hate him not just because he’s royalty but also because they think he’s essentially giving the Earth Kingdom away to an imperialistic foreign power.  Mako’s there to protect him both because Raiko ordered him to and because he’s one of the few cops the prince is comfortable around; as such, Mako actually feels bad for the kid and wants to protect him. (This prince is legitimately terrified by the scary adults throwing pies at him and bursts into tears as soon as they’re out of harm’s way.  Mako comforts him and makes him feel a little better.) Korra Alone is close to perfect and stays pretty much as-is, albeit with Korra’s loss in the Earth Rumble ring being far less embarrassing – she gets some hits in, and the end makes it even clearer how distracted she was by Dark Avatar Korra. The Coronation follows up on the political changes.  Instead of being all excited about how awesome he thinks the ceremony is going to be, the prince is afraid – of being on stage (Mako assures him he’ll do fine), of being king (Raiko assures him that his advisers will do all the work), and of Kuvira (Raiko assures him that she’ll step down).  The prince thanks Kuvira and lets her speak the way Wu did in the show, except that it’s sort of implied that he’s looking for an excuse to not have to stay up at the podium for longer than necessary.  Kuvira, of course, uses the opportunity to take over… and specifically points to Raiko’s use of the prince to control the Earth Kingdom as a reason why she’s justified in doing so.  (The prince hides behind Mako when this happens.  =( )  Some of the time saved by not having Wu freak out about the loss of his throne is used to show us the meeting of the world leaders, where they talk about why they think Kuvira is dangerous (she’s very with-me-or-against-me) and what they can do to stop her (not much as long as she limits her ambitions to the Earth Kingdom).

The Republic City part of Reunion is way more tense because Team Avatar are looking for a terrified kidnapped child instead of an aggravating jerk.  (The prince still gets to ask Korra to go into the Avatar State because he wants to see her eyes glow, but it’s actually kind of endearing since he’s a little kid.)

and only people who wouldnt like it is mako haters who demonize him for being a human being who makes mistakes and twists him to be something he isnt  to point where they claim bs things like claiming he called asami a leech when no it was a figure of speech it was avatar equivalent to ripping off a bandaid.

or whining that he was a bit of a jerk at the start or not immediately nice ( when mako is someone who unlike bolin has an icy demeanor and is wary of bringing new people in to circle  but when you are in he will die for you he has been compared to zuko minus angst for a reason  he was a jerk with a heart of gold he isnt going to be immediately friendly with people  like bolin

internet... i have no more duties for the day.... it is up to you to entertain me.

for this reason i will give brief reviews of the teen netflix shows i have now watched, she-ra and dragon prince. 

she-ra was, of course, beautifully voice cast and well written for a teen program. i enjoy the many characters and happenings. my favorites are scorpia and entrapta. i want to know why hordak keeps a baby as a pet and dresses it like a little punk. i get that it does spying and mimicry, but he could have a parrot for that. why does it have to be a punk baby? is it some alien creature that just happens to look like a baby? if so, what are the little combat boots for? if not, is it hordaks kid that cant talk? the horde has done plenty of baby kidnapping but they are raised communally, this one does not seem to be getting any kind of education... 

acknowledgement of the 80′s franchise = very good. a main character has 2 gay dads who arent dead, also good.... one of them looks like hes based of his sons 80′s design, giving him the feel of an old retired warrior of the last generation even though hes a historian, also good. 

all around pretty good. would watch next season of. 

now for the dragon prince. my friend watched the first season before me and i asked them to give a pitch of the show to get me to watch it. they could not do so in a way that sounded remotely interesting. the only thing it had going for it was that it was made by the same company as avatar the last airbender. this show sounded pretty much like avatar, but without the originality of the asian fantasy setting and with a much lower budget, as the animation is done completely in 2D mimicking 3D models instead of traditional drawn 2D. but i gave it a try. 

the first season was about how i thought it would be. i got more into it the 2nd season, both plot wise and world building wise. i now see it as the companies honest attempt at western fantasy and all its trappings an tropes, which can be seen very clearly when held against avatars extremely Buddhist hero. 

the plots are very similar. we have, a rag-tag fantasy teens born into a war-torn world of strife that began before they were born, who task themselves with fixing it by going on a long journey to reset the balance of the world and learn elemental magic along the way. this team even includes a pair of siblings and an equivalent of a trapped-in-stasis-child who will one day have the fate of the world on his shoulders but right now hes just cute baby by way of the actual dragon prince/egg. 

the differences lie in how these things are handled. its much more focused on the western ideal of self determinism, where its up to each individual to choose their own path. avatar had some of that too, but emphasized more of a connection with your ancestors and culture via the reincarnation stuff and the imperial fire nation edging out the water tribe and decimating the air nomads. 

other people have written more about that, im not going to get into it. whats interesting to me in the dragon prince, is that in avatar world, magic is something you even have or you dont. if you dont have it, you can never learn it, and if you do have it, you can only learn that type and nothing else, unless you are the avatar. 

on face value, the dragon prince is the same way. all creatures are either born with one of six different magic types or they are not. humans are not, but can use dark magic by killing magical creatures and using their magic component parts to do magic, or by trapping an elemental power source somehow and using that. no human can do elemental magic on their own because they arent born being able to do so...

...unless... you believe in yourself...

turns out humans can learn how to do elemental magic.... they just have to choose the path for themselves and pull themselves up by the bootstraps and figure it out on their own. 

the moral questions are different and im enjoying this hot avatar take on western fantasy.

also: they use some real western symbols?? like at one point the dad talks about lady justice with her blindfold, scale and sword?? like thats a real thing? and then in the same scene he mentions that before he was born he wouldnt know what skin color he would be and its like woah..... does racism exist in this world then???? what else could that possibly mean? this imagery is almost straight up american, which is weird given that its set in a pseudo european fantasy land with kings and queens. i like seeing my culture as part of a fantastical mythos setting. 

the animation style works really well in action scenes, the huge monsters all look really good... and when there are little chibi moments they are 100000% funnier, but i never quite got used to it in the slow moments. the frame rate is weird, its not very fluid in those moments. 

i really like rayla as a character, even though the design for elves in the show is absolute hot garbage. i like that shes so good at flips and kicks and running and stuff, but is still a dumb 16-ish year old and is very easily manipulated because she continually talks to the people shes supposed to be fighting. her voice actor is also scottish and they force her to try to do an american accent a few times its great.

Well safe to say, episode 89 didn’t play out the way I hoped it would. Soulburner ended up pulling out the win, to no one surprise, and Windy ends up burning to death. Yeah...have fun with that one dub. Now I stated that if this was going to be the end result, I was not going to be a happy camper because Windy NEEDED this win far more then Soulburner did, for his own credit and for the plot. However, because of one simple detail at the end of this episode, what could have been me just going on the rant has instead now me viewing this episode as what I like to call Pandora’s Box and a time bomb.

Currently we’re going through a bit of a despair at the moment in terms of the writing in my eyes. One of the main reasons why I thought Windy should have won this duel was because currently Team Playmaker has the numbers advantage. We need more causalities from his group to even out the playing field. To have Spectre be the only loss from this group because of Ignis plot armor and Revolver being freaking Revolver would just be stupid in my eyes. Windy also needed this win because they have been building up a Revolver vs Windy rematch. To not have that be delivered after all that talk of revenge from Windy seemed like just a waste. To have him beat someone like Soulburner would not only give him some MAJOR credit as a duelist, but it would also make him a threat if he actually went to challenge Revolver right afterwards.

Then there is Soulburner’s sides of things. He needed to lose this duel because one, he just needs a lose at this point, but the main reason why I wanted him to lose this duel was because what are they going to do with him if he was going to win this duel? Lightning is already short on members. He already lost Haru and now Windy, leaving only himself and Bohman. He even had to bring in Kusanagi to duel Playmaker and Revolver still hasn’t even dueled yet. Keeping Soulburner in the mix just didn’t make sense to me because if Windy won, he would have went to challenge Revolver and lets be real here, he would have lost that rematch and would have been killed there. Blue Maiden is more then likely going to lose to Bohman, leaving only Playmaker and Revolver left to challenge Lightning and Bohman in what I would guess a tag duel. Clearly there is a problem if Soulburner is still around. But like I said, one simple comment and action changed everything and is what I like to call the hope that is remaining inside of Pandora’s Box. Well maybe not hope for the characters in the show but hope for me as a viewer. 

Are we actually going to get a Soulburner vs Revolver rematch?

At the end of this episode, when Windy was being burnt to death, Flame absorbed what was left of Windy’s data. However, before that, Windy made a vow that he won’t let go of his hated, and he was cursing Soulburner and Flame. Now this could have been empty words, as Flame stated that AIs don’t have curses, but I seen and read enough fiction to know what this amount of lingering hated always leads to. Nothing ever good. Windy’s death doesn’t just make the anger disappear. Death only intensifies it and it is going to leave a mark on something. I’m willing to bet that Windy’s data is going to end up having some kind of effect on Flame, a virus that is going to run wild and corrupt his whole system. Now who knows what kind of effect that in turn could have on Soulburner. As seen with Spectre and Earth, the Ignis and their Origin are connected. If one is affected by his virus, the other will probably be as well if only from just the fact that Windy cursed Soulburner as well as Flame. And if Soulburner isn’t affected by their connection, whose to say that Flame won’t corrupt Soulburner’s program himself? Soulburner is just a digital avatar that Takeru’s using afterall. If Windy really wants to break these two of their bond, that’s truly one way he could do it. And if Windy can get into Soulburner’s system, it wouldn’t be like he would be brainwashing him into doing something he doesn’t want to do. I feel like Windy would be attaching himself to Takeru’s own anger and intensifying it. Takeru’s rage has been such as focus point as of late when it comes to his character. He has so much build up anger inside of him that’s just waiting to be taking advantage of and unleashed. 

This is why I can very well see us getting a Soulburner vs Revolver rematch. Takeru hates Ryoken. He blames him for everything that has gone wrong in his life. Even after what Yusaku told him about him being the one to save them from the Hanoi Project, the hated isn’t just going to instantly disappear. Add to the fact that this will be Windy corrupting him. Another being who hates hates Revolver. Windy wanted nothing more but to take revenge on Revolver for almost destroying him but was made to duel Soulburner instead. A part of me is starting to wonder if Lightning deliberately made Windy duel Soulburner, knowing that something like this could end up happening. If the hated alone isn’t going to cause some kind of virus to form inside of Flame, keep in mind that Lightning was the one to heal up Windy after he was almost destroyed by the Hanoi’s virus. Who knows what else he might have put into his data while doing so. Like a Trojan Horse almost. If Windy won, that’s one less threat to worry about and if he lost, Lightning ended up with a stronger pawn to take his place. And like I said, it wouldn’t be like brainwashing him into doing something he doesn’t want to do. Soulburner wants to beat Revolver and Windy would only be pushing that desire to the top of his prioritizes list. In a way, we would be killing two birds with one stone, getting a Soulburner and Windy rematch against Revolver. 

Of course this is all speculation at the time being but I honestly don’t see why else they would be keeping Soulburner around if something like this doesn’t happen. Sure we could end up with a Soulburner vs Blood Shepherd rematch or Soulburner vs Spectre match up, since we know Lightning still has their data somewhere, but I honestly don’t see Soulburner losing to either of those two and I don’t see us getting a Disaster Trio team up against Lightning and/or Bohman as the final battle of the season, regardless of how awesome that could end up being. Lightning needs all the Ignis to complete his master plan, meaning that Flame is going to have to be killed off at some point, meaning Soulburner has to lose, and what better way to have him go out then by losing to Revolver, which is the most realistic lose this guy can end up getting at this point. 

But yeah as for the episode itself, it was okay. Besides that ending foreshadowing a LOT, the duel was just meh. I still hate the fact that Lightning’s group can use Skills during Masters Duels, it is such bullsh*t on so many levels, but the Xyz Summon, which came out of literally nowhere and has no explanation for, was freaking awesome. That animation was incredible. And that was just for a Rank 3! I want to see Soulburner Xyz Summon something with a higher rank now or Pendulum Summon. Oh my god, him Pendulum Summoning with that fire theme of this is going to be glorious if it actually happens. Still think Revolver is going to be the first to Pendulum, maybe during their duel if again it happens.

As for the preview, Blue Maiden vs Bohman. Regardless of Soulburner’s win, I still don’t see Blue Maiden winning this duel. I haven’t heard or seen anything of the cast list yet for this episode so I don’t know what to expect going forward into this duel but hopefully it will be a good one.

She hasn’t had much opportunity to learn the healing side of waterbending. Though...then again, waterbending as a whole hasn’t exactly been a subject Hinata was steeped in. With the Fire Nation raids capturing and locking way the Southern waterbenders, Hinata had only her mother to teach her...and even then, not for long.

She’d not been one of the many taken prisoner. Hanako had simply been slain where she stood.

As the last left with any hint of bending in her veins, Hinata grew up without a teacher, only able to guess and feel her way through bending. Failures in her experiments meant a lack of confidence, and a yearning to someday make it to the North to find a master to learn from.

Of course, that had been before stumbling across the Avatar alongside her best friend Kiba. That single encounter changed not only her life, but the world.

Suddenly she had a way to leave the South Pole: a method of transport to the North, where she and the Avatar - Naruto - would learn under the remaining masters of waterbending.

Before they could leave, however...trouble found them. Namely the second-in-line prince Sasuke of the Fire Nation.

Their first meeting had her feeling fearful...but also realizing she couldn’t afford to be afraid. This was the Avatar...the world’s last chance for peace. If Hinata wanted to make it to the North - if she wanted Naruto to save the world - she had to put aside her reservations, and do as her mother did: stand up to the Fire Nation.

Needless to say, that first encounter - and the next several over the coming weeks - meant a great feeling of animosity between them: Hinata, and Sasuke. They both sought the same person, but for entirely different reasons.

But as time passed, and their circumstances changed...they could no longer afford to be enemies. Naruto needed to learn firebending. Sasuke had begun to see the error of his ways, thanks to careful guidance from his cousin Shisui: a secret member of the White Lotus.

So, the two groups were suddenly awkwardly pushed together as Sasuke accepted his role as Naruto’s firebending teacher.

But Hinata wasn’t having it.

After all he’d done - to them, to Naruto, to her - she couldn’t trust him. Wouldn’t! No longer was Hinata the meek, scared girl from the South Pole. By then, she’d grown into a young woman of resolve and dedication.

Of them all, it would be Hinata he’d have to convince the most.

It hadn’t been easy...but from a begrudging acceptance of their circumstances, situations arose to drive them together. Bit by bit, acceptance grew...which slowly formed into trust.

Which is why now, with Sasuke injured, Hinata tries to put her limited healing knowledge to the test.

“Just...hold still. I need to concentrate.”

Not arguing, Sasuke sits in a tense, accepting silence. Mild burns litter his left forearm, used to block an attack but partially letting it go astray. The red, puckered skin stings, but doesn’t seem too severe.

Taking clean water from a canteen, Hinata examines the wounds carefully before bringing the element up to the singed tissue. For a moment, it almost seems to burn all over again. But then the liquid glows softly, and relief instantly wilts Sasuke’s shoulders.

“...I’ve never seen waterbending healing before.”

“I’m...very loosely practiced in it. I had some lessons in the North, but...not as much as combat. I’ll do what I can, but...they might scar, and take a w-while to heal.”

“It’s fine...better than I could do.”

That earns him a brief glance before returning to her work.

“...when this is all over, I know a healer you can learn from. If you want.”

“...you do?”

“I…” Shame weighs in the base of Sasuke’s gut. “...when I, er...went to get Naruto, it wasn’t my first trip to the south. A few months before that, I’d gone to another tribe that used to be known for healing, and...took the last bender there. She’s the one serving my brother. Keeping him alive.”

Recognition alights Hinata’s face. “...I see.”

“I’ll be honest, I wasn’t...kind to her. At the time, I was still…” His tone fades to silence, not sure how to explain. “...I was so conflicted then. My brother means everything to me. I was desperate. So...I told her I was holding her village hostage. If anything happened to Itachi, I would…” Another pause, not needing to explain. “...and yet...part of me - a stupid, selfish part of me - had hoped we wouldn’t find one. A healer.”

“...but…?”

Grief and anger darken Sasuke’s face. “...the older I got...the more I realized that, if Itachi were to die...it would make me the next Fire Lord. And now, I...I can’t stand myself for ever having thought that way. But my father, his teachings...they jaded me. It’s like he wanted to pit us against each other. He knew Itachi was weak. Maybe...that’s what he wanted. But I insisted to try the South. To look for a healer.”

For a time, quiet settles over them. “...then...that’s what matters in the end. You overcame those feelings, and you got him help.”

“But I did so in a terrible way!”

“I’m not saying you’re not at fault in that regard. But...you helped your brother, when you could have...well, left him to a worse fate. Maybe someday you can atone to how you treated the other waterbender. And...I would be happy to learn from her.” Hinata glances up, managing a small smile.

“...you’ve come a long way, Sasuke. In my eyes, at least. I’ll admit...I was so wary of you at first. And...I had reason to be. But I also see how you’ve changed. I might have had my doubts, but you proved yourself. I’m sure you can do so with her when the time comes. For now, we each have our own paths. She’ll help your brother, and you’ll help the Avatar.”

Sasuke looks to her with a somber expression before glancing to his wounds. “...and you’ll help me.”

“...we’ll all help each other. Together, we’ll stop your father. The Fire Nation can then be led back into the ways of peace. The w-war will be over. And we can all...go home. Heal. And the world can regain its sense of balance.”

“The work won’t stop with the war,” Sasuke reminds her dryly. “There will be plenty left to do.”

“I know...but we’ll face it together. All of us. Naruto has changed too, you know. He’s not just a wistful child. Now...he’s matured. At least,” she laughs, “somewhat. Part of him, I think, will always be a kid. But we work together well as a team - and we’ll keep doing so after the war, until the world has a better foundation. It’s been stuck in this war for almost a hundred years! There will be a lot to get used to.”

“Hn…”

Another round of silence, and then Hinata checks her work. Scars glisten pink along Sasuke’s arms, but a flex and a prod prove them to be healed. “Well...it’s not p-pretty, but…”

“It’s great. Thanks, Hinata.” The prince affords her a rare smile that she returns.

A kind of tension seems to bloom...before they both glance away.

“I...I-I should see if Naruto has any wounds,” she offers, moving to stand.

“Yeah, I’ll...start working on a fire for the camp.” He watches her go, unable to help a feeling of...frustration. Like he’s missed something. Looking to his arm, fingers gently sweep over the new scar tissue. He’s sure they won’t be the last.

...and maybe he won’t mind a little healing every now and again.

     Well, not as late as last night - woo? lol      More AtLA! I've been really feeling this fandom lately, and it worked well for this prompt, too! I love incorporating some healing with Hinata, given her canon dabbling into it, what with her poultices she's been seen to make! So while she might not be a master, she can at least help Sasuke's wounds a bit.      And he doesn't mind getting a little up close and personal, it seems ;3      Anywho, that's it for today! I'm excited to have crossed the 50 day mark - and soon we'll be at two months! Kinda crazy, honestly...time's really flying. But, either way, thanks for reading!

I was thinking on a possible scenario where Infinite comes back after the world is safe again.

To begin with, his phantom ruby prototype broke after his final fight against Sonic and Gadget [Avatar really, but I will use red wolfie to develop this more], Infinite have a few sequels after use the ruby for so long, like float and shoot energy spears, but the whole distorcion/illusions are not part of his habilities anymore.

While the people are rebuilding everything Infinite walks/float around, not having a specific way to go since his squad got defeated/death/lose contact after 7 months, he lose everything and now just go place to place, like a ghost trying to find peace.

In this travel he ended up im a small town, where is stopped by somebody and asking him if he is ok and if he is hungry, since Infinite’s face wouldnt show stability.

The person that would stop him and make him come back to earth would be Gadget, who would live near the area and stopped there for a few days before go back to his own travel.

Infinite would refuse to give him information of how he is doing, but his body language would react in surprise when the wolf ask about his hunger, he would be somewhat hungry, not noticing it until now since he had walk nonstop for a while.

With that sign, Gadget would ask him if he want to go eat with him, thinking by his look that the jackal had a really bad time after the war and might be lost.

Oh, right; Infinite doesnt have his mask anymore, and without mask or ruby, he cant be recognized as Infinite, the one that destroyed everything and everybody that stand in his way.

The jackal would refuse the soilder’s invitation and would walk away, but the idea of eat make his movement weak, so he had nothing else to do but accept it.

They both would chat a little, Infinite would be less agressive and petty after eating, he would notice that the rookie didnt recognize him, so when names are asked he would lie about his, he would mention that lost his squad in the war and now is just walking without a destination.

Far from the “my squad is dead” idea, Gadget would think they just got separated in all the chaos, and he would want to help him find them, Infinite would refuse and try to go, but the wolf would show hope and optimism in his eyes that would get to the jackal, making him believe that they might still alive.

Infinite would stay at Gadget’s home and they both would begin to ask and look for clues, Infinite wouldnt tell Gadget where him and his squad got separated or what they were doing.. he would give the info but not with many details, he doesnt want him to know who he really is. Who he used to be.

After all this time, Infinite just wanted to rest, to feel peace again, to be in peace with himself. And the rookie is helping him with that, his optimism is contagious.

Sonic team would get involved in the search too, since they know Gadget already and have all the data of what happened in thoses 6 months of chaos, they would get more clues and confirm that the jackal squad in fact survived after Shadow’s fight.

Interactions between Infinite and the others would be.. weird, specially with Sonic, who would treat him as a pal since he is friend of Gadget. Infinite’s personallity would slowly go back to who he used to be before this whole mess with Dr Eggmann happened, he would connect with Gadget and be thankfull, the wolf would feel so happy to help him and become closer to him. You could say... they become friends.

Everything would be fine, it would be a silent redemption arc that ended up adding Infinite into the team… everything should be fine, except for one tiny detail; nobody knows he is/was Infinite because nobody has seen him without his mask.
