#there was a little crusade by some catholics but we crushed it pretty handily

I feel like there's a really interesting AU history prompt in my CK3 game... Like setting aside for a sec the ritual Cannibalism which I only did for the meme, imagine if in the 1100s Roman Catholicism and original-flavour Orthodoxy were relegated to a distant second and third place by a new hegemonic Christian faith that preaches pluralism, priesthood for both genders, and Islamic Syncretism.
(from an RP perspective, I really wanted it to be fully-general Abrahamic-faith tolerance/syncretism, but you can't do that mechanically in the game)
This is the state religion of the Albizanti Empire, which is quite possibly the largest and wealthiest state in the world, and it comfortably controls Alexandria and Jerusalem with a high degree of cultural tolerance (they changed the court language to Arabic!) and absolutely no desire for further conflict with their Muslim neighbours.
Oh and the Duke of Shamir is part of the imperial dynasty, which is making more and more marriage and other alliances in Africa now.
How does the modern day look? Do we basically completely avoid the crusades?
#there was a little crusade by some catholics but we crushed it pretty handily#amusingly the game text called them infidels so im p sure it expected me to be Muslim
