Day at the Beach | Karasuno, Shiratorizawa
Groups: Karasuno, Shiratorizawa
Genre: fun, crack?
Request: “I’m the anon who asked if your request are open ! Hi can request some hc for going to the beach with Karasuno boy and shiratorizawa boys” - anonnie
Author’s Note: thanks for requesting! I hope this is okay anonnie~ happy reading!
Karasuno:
One word: chaos
Everyone met up in the early morning outside the gym
of couse noya was talking to tanaka in his stoic voice like: “ryu, we must protect kiyoko-san and ya-chan from all the dirty eyes today,” while tanaka was kneeling in front of him like that one scene at the training camp bbq with yamamoto
Things were actually, surprisingly calm, that is until Hinata rolled in with his volleyball
puppy mode activated. he kept nagging kageyama to toss for him right then and there in the parking lot while everyone just sighed all around
Daichi had to stop them from breaking into the gym to play before it was time to go even though Suga and him had the keys
Tsukishima was obviously grumbling about how annoying they were and how much energy they had with Yamaguchi and yachi beside him
On the way there: everybody. Knocked. Out. It took a couple hours and it was early so might as well catch some z’s
It was quiet like on the way to matches or wherever as a team
When there was about an hour left before arriving, everyone slowly woke
Chaos ensued near the back with the first years plus nishinoya and Tanaka playing uno, the other second years chilling and watching
While the third years just vibes toward the front
Occasional yells, glares, and threats sent from daichi when they were too loud
Nishonoya was winning the game of course, cheering the others on while feeling like a god
Hinata said uno reverse and was the one calling Kageyama boke for not getting a grasp of the game
he also sent a lot of skips and plus cards his way to piss him off even more
Hinata honestly almost died. the amount of times kageyama grabbed his skull made everyone wonder how his skull hadn’t been split yet
The bus ride was honestly really funn despite hinata almost dying at kageyama’s hand~
Hinata was of course the first one to notice the ocean after placing second in the game after yachi followed by tsuki, Tanaka, yamaguchi, noya, and finally kageyama losing
after finding a good spot, everyone got out and hinata and kageyama practically bolted, their swimwear already on and other clothes shoved into their bag
tanaka and noya were also almost like them. keyword almost. but as soon as they spotted another man, they were guarding yachi and kiyoko already
everyone else grabbed their belongings and slowly made their way toward the general area where kageyama and hinata had dropped their own belongings and were already diving into the water
the entire day was filled with fun
lots of swimming, playing all sorts of games in the sand
especially beach volleyball in the sand courts there were
even here, despite the ground being completely different from the normal gym floors, kageyama and hinata’s energies were drained, everyone’s were but they were of course still going at it
soon it just became a one on one
everyone watched from the side, relaxing under the sun
tsuki brought a book of course but he also just vibed with the music, in charge of the aux
tsuki, yams, and yachi were sat near the shore at the edge where the water came right at the edge, the two of them looking at the little crabs and seashells while tsuki just sat and watched, observing with the two sane people he actually liked out of everyone else
kiyoko helped takeda and ukai grill some food as the sun set, setting up food for everyone to eat
daichi, suga, and asahi went to a market area around and brought back bags of drinks and ice for the cooler
as the day went on, the beach cleared leaving just the team
everyone gathered around the firepit eating their dinners, laughing about the season and funny moments and memories
they never wanted the day to end, the memories to end
Shiratorizawa:
things were actually super chill
the beach days were the one day they could all truly relax and not give a care about anything in the world
the bus ride there wasn’t too long and everyone just did their own things
some got shut eye, some listened to music
tendo read his shonen jump like the king he is as ushi gazed outside, his eyes fixed on the crops, sighing in satisfaction at how good the soil was this year akjsdhjaks
everybody else just vibed tbh
goshiki sat behind ushijima of course, sometimes making conversation with shirabu beside him
semi listened to his music, taking up a whole pair of seats since the bus was large enough for there to be a lot more vacant seats even with the team riding it
getting there, the beach was somewhat full but no bother
a few already had gotten changed/ most already had their trunks on on the bus
you already know that as soon as these men were already walking down the beach to a vacant spot, they were catching the attention of numerous people
they caught even more when they took off their shirts akjsd
of course ushi being the most built and drooled over, everything, all the comments and even a few whistles from older women went right over his head or even in his ear and out the other
tendo, ushi, semi, and goshiki helped open a tent, burying the poles deep into the sand
everyone paired off and put on sun screen on each other’s backs of course
there was some playing in the water but it was the volleyball team
of course they were going to play
ushijima first watched this group play and ended up subbing in
it was a lot different for him but he got the hang of it since there wasn’t anything about this he couldn’t handle
literally almost broke someone’s nose playing askdja and then gradually, it became the team’s court
it was a mix of fun while also being serious and each side trying to win
the sand itself was definitely a different feeling for them than the gym floor but it was a lot more fun to dive around and just being free
goshiki got buried by tendo and reon
they gave him b00bies and wouldn’t let him go despite all his cries, talking about feeling something pinching his feet
washijo told him to suck it up askdjh
tbh seeing all these tall bois intimidated the hell out of the kiddos there but it was all fun and no one cried ah ha ha
when it was emptier, semi pulled out his speaker and played his bops his mixtape
but the day was mainly filled with beach volleyball and when things got intense, people actually started to gather and watched and some even wanted to sub in
that is until they saw ushi’s bone breaking smeck
to relax, tendo and ushi actually laid beneath the sun getting their tan on
around sunset, to let off some steam, the team walked along the boardwalk
of course, catching the eyes of almost everyone since they didn’t really wear shirts- well they did but more like muscle tanks that showed off their tanned and toned arms
and their shorts were very similar to they volleyball ones that showed off their thunder thighs
they went into shops and tendo got everyone to try on the wacky shirts and fun glasses, snapping some pics for fun
goshiki tried to act v mature for some reason but let himself go when he glanced over to see ushijima with his stoic face wearing heart sunglasses and a rainbow sombrero that tendo and semi had put on him
everyone lost it akjsdajhds
the day ended with a nice dinner out at the end of the pier and then a calm bus ride home with their own bags of goodies

HDHDHD omgg💀💀 sorry for laughing but that was funny🤣 I definitely can’t hold grudges but I definitely remember, if that makes sense?? Ooh I take being balanced as a compliment though because I often don’t feel that way🥴 ofc some things in the text weren’t totally me, but overall very very me shdhfj😌 I am very artistic if I may brag :P AHH that’s sweet🥺🥰
Idk if you saw my comment but I have no clue how that San pic ended up there HAHAHAH💀 it was supposed to be at the bottom but guess not oops
Same here!! There’s just something about black hair🤤 I really loved the hair he had during wonderland/answer era, I really enjoyed the styles he had and the colors!! Definitely agree with you
That makes me so happy wth🥺🥺🥺 I’m glad my fic can bring you that type of relaxation I guess<3 lolll you maybe been tired, but I understand you~ agh cake! the greatest :P what kind of cake did you eat??👀
Who did you bias first in ateez btw?? Was it Yunho?🥰 you have a beautiful bond with Yunho, love it<3 It truly is what he deserves!!!
Thank you Catalina!! Your support means the world to me, especially as a writer🥺🥺 I’ll try to make it as exciting as the KD stage felt, but I’m the most excited to write about Hongjoong!! Seonghwa took over his place of where my writing inspiration came from (lol), so it was a while since I felt happy with or even wrote a fic centered around HJ ;(
HDHFJF I’ll take it as an achievement if I can make someone cry from a fic😌
THANK U🥰 I love the days where I feel so confident, it’s a nice feeling, so I’m definitely flaunting it😏✨ we love the support!!
OOOHHH selca days?? Great!!🥰💕can only agree on that, wet haired Yunho was just- UGH. OMG YES EXACTLY ITS HIS. LOOK. MAGNIFICENT! Seonghwa’s half bangs up is a crime I tell you🤧 you have great taste in hair colors😌 peachy Yunho is also my favorite!! He just hit so differenttttt idk he was just so incredibly pretty (not that he usually isn’t tho)
I’m glad you enjoyed the spam, I’ve done my work successfully😚
Tags are just so relatable😭 I’ll say good luck to you with that 15 on the scale and with Yunho as a bias HAHAH🤣
Feel free to laugh. My grudge holding issue is my personal issue, I know this and I am trying to fix it. I totally get what you mean. It’s good that you don’t harbor anything draining to your emotions. Oh~ does your art come through in your writing or do you also draw, maybe paint, act... perhaps? 🖼 🎨
I did see your comment!! I was already at my work site though and when I tried to respond it kept saying, “an error occured” so I just gave up and waited for your response. I will welcome a San pic or a San video at any time and at any point so don’t worry about how it came out. I still loved it!! 🥰😍❤️ YEEEESSSSSSSS~ he has had amazing styles during the Wonderland and Answer era! His hair was a bit longer during Wonderland and two-toned while in Answer he was also rocking two different colors with his hair as well 😂😂😂 now that I think about it 😂 but shorter and the style was less refined (maybe it’s the contrast of military uniforms to whatever they had going on in Answer... 😂).
I’m so happy that your writing can make me feel that way “WTH” 😂. I had a strawberry cake. I was going to attempt to make a carrot cake from scratch but didn’t gather the ingredients in time so I just didn’t. I like pink, white, and purple cakes (don’t @ me). I know fruit flavored cakes and ice cream are not everyone’s thing, but I really enjoy it. 🥺💕🙂 I’m curious are you more of a savory or sweet person?
In terms of a bias. I think it was always Seonghwa. However, it was Mingi who drew me in. He really caught my eye for some reason and because of him I wanted to know more of their songs, and saw more of their videos and just fell 100% for Seonghwa. He was handsome, which caught my eye immediately 😜 but also an amazing performer, to my eye. However, that’s really cute about what you said about having a “beautiful bond with Yunho” 🥰💕. I really like that. 😍😍💕
Of course!! I am sending you my support in writing. It is definitely not easy. ✍️
(Selca is just another term for selfie) Yeah~ on twitter, once a month ATINY’s post selfies of themselves match a selfie with one of the members. WAIT! Did you already know about ATINY selca day? Sorry for explaining it, if you already knew about it. I used to do it for all 8 of them every month, and there was even an ATINY selca day on tumblr for a while but, I think it might have died out. Peachy Yunho was so PRETTY!!! Like- 💕🥺🥰❤️😍😩😭❣️💖💝💙💛💖
Yes you have done your work successfully and the TOrTURE thanks. I needed that in my life too 😂... That middle image, I remember their performance, but I don’t remember seeing Yunho LIKE THAT like OH MY GOOOODDDDNESSS~
#seoultraveller responds#thorsdreams asks#thorsdreams#dee asks 💝#thank you! luck was very much necessary!! 🙏🏾

this is a weird fish rant incoming
i wrote that post about my newest aquarium with darkmantle the betta fish about 18 times because on the first 17 passes i kept trying to find ways to reassure whoever found it through the tags that the tank was big enough and cycled and my parameters were great...
because, like, in my experience aquatics as a hobby at large (but particularly on tumblr thanks to anon asks) has the potential to be incredibly judgmental! Which... like, honestly i get!
A lot of us love tech and we love learning new techniques and how to care for species with really specific needs, but when it comes down to it... there are really just a few things you have to do to keep everyone in your average freshwater tank thriving, and i’m gonna hazard a guess and say 60-70 percent of people don’t do any of them, at least not at first!
like, fucking it up is almost baked into the hobby. we still give out goldfish at carnivals, we still see products claiming that you don’t need to change water ever if you just buy their additive or throw a plant in it and call it aquaponics, and we still sell tanks specifically marketed for betta fish that wouldn’t be a humane place to keep any living being. and how do you beat that mentality, you know? when there’s a full industry saying “no, these animals actually like! living in unheated, unfiltered plastic cubes,” or “they’re great favors for parties, put them in mason jars as a centerpiece!” there’s always gonna be some percentage of people who don’t ever question that, and it’s upsetting!
worse, the people who are really into the hobby? like i said, bad care is basically where most of us started out! most of us made those same beginner fuckups, and we didn’t provide proper care for our underwater buds because we were kids, or information wasn’t available because we had dial up, or even the information in books was often wrong, or the clerk at the pet store said it was okay, or the fucking instructions on the box did. we learned that we were wrong when our pets died. then like, we got a little knowledge, and now we feel guilty that we caused any living being to suffer in the past because we didn’t know enough or do enough to prevent that suffering.
and this is kind of a wild thing about this hobby i stumbled into, because, unlike many other hobbies, there is a measureable cost to fucking it up. tiny lives are on the line, and if you’re bad at it, they die early and unnatural deaths. for those of us who find joy in figuring out how to help our charges thrive, it sucks to know that for some people who claim to love it too, an aquarium is where you put a fish until it dies a few days/weeks/maaybe months later and you get another fish. there’s some moral weight involved that other hobbies don’t have. like, there’s a lot of bad artists out there. some people genuinely suck at knitting or the harmonica. i cannot in good faith call the thing my body does to music “dancing.” generally, the errors people make if they’re bad at a hobby do not lead to suffering and death. (exception: see, my attempts at dancing, supra.)
also, the people who are really fucking it up in the aquarium sphere don’t have a huge overlap with the people who are enthusiastically showing progress pics or asking questions about the science or art underlying these little closed ecosystems. i think people really dedicated to the hobby don’t get the opportunity to interact very often with the subset of people out there fucking it up hard. like, you know it’s happening, and it’s easy to find pictures of a shitty tank if you go looking, but most people are doing pretty fucking good if they’re already actively engaged in the hobby.
so, this is my theory about judgy, judgy fishblr. i think all that anger at people who don’t care about their animals mixes with our own shame for our early mistakes and emotions run high; then, like anything else people are passionate about, some people become holier-than-thou fundamentalists about the whole fuckin thing. if they call you out, they can stay above reproach. if they can claim that anything different from how they engage with the hobby is wrong, they can’t be accused of ever making a mistake, and maybe they don’t need to grapple with their own guilt about their own fuckups that way either. like, i know this all sounds really overblown but...seriously, my tiny following on this site is because I Am A Person Who Wrote 475000 words of Fanfic About Sans Undertale, Including His Dick, and for that crime against decency, i’m sure i DO deserve some anon hate. yet somehow, in spite of my many public sins, my most unpleasant interactions on this or honestly any social media site have been about aquarium stuff? it’s not even directly mean, it’s concern trolling like “uhh sweetie good try but you really shouldn’t have a betta unless you’ve got the space for it 😏😉” and inside i’m like “BITCH IT’S 6.6 GALLONS, it’s ONE FISH, IT’S A NANO TANK,” and yet my response is always closer to “thanks for the tip 😁😁😁😁. here’s why you’re wrong but i’ll be CHEERFUL AND FRIENDLY about it because deep down i STILL need validation that I’m not hurting my animals, EVEN THOUGH I KNOW I’M DOING GREAT”
(this, i swear to god, happens often enough that it’s a joke on the aquatics subreddits? like someone will post a pic of obscenely enormous empty tank, drained swimming pool etc and be like “any ideas what i should put in this?!” and the comments will be like “maybe big enough for a betta???” “no way. with a tank that small, one amano shrimp tops, and that’s PUSHING it”)
so there my dumb ass was last night, trying to write jokes about my fish while still preemptively demonstrating that i know my shit to stop any doubters from fishsplaining at me? and i just COULDN’T get it, and i was getting really frustrated, because it’s so obnoxious to be lumped in with people who never change their pets’ water and don’t know to cycle their tanks and certainly don’t regularly find themselves hunched over 5 ml beakers waiting for the reagents to assure them their ammonia level is as close to 0 parts pet million as possible...
and then i remembered how i deal with anyone who questions my competency in literally any other field. I don’t smile and emoji my way through being attacked by some asshole on the internet when any other topic is on the line. i certainly don’t scramble for the reciepts to prove they’re wrong. instead, i use every debater’s most feared technique:
I threaten to crawl into their house and put things in their ears while they’re sleeping.
Hmmm, oh, are you implying that I don’t know how to care for my obviously healthy, thriving animals? not anymore, because you can’t question my commitment with your EARS FULL OF GOOGLY EYES, JARED!
...this went so far off the rails. in conclusion, take care of your pets, and don’t be insecure in your abilities.
oh, and saltwater tank elitist snobs can eat my farts. give your balls a tug ya shitheads.

Hotter Sex with Your Man- Tonight! (Part 5)
This one is heavily inspired by the “Voyeurism” chapter in the Anti-Kink verse I linked earlier--also this is one tip I would NOT suggest you try with a partner lol
18. Unleash your man’s possessive side! When you’re at the club or even at the grocery store, flirt a little bit with another guy. A little jealousy never hurt anyone, and your man will work extra hard to make sure that you know you’re his.
Strangely, the dirty text tip did sort of work.
Zane had rushed to comfort Heath when he got home, telling him he’d told Jason what a fucking prick he was and that it would take a very long time for Zane to forgive him. And when Heath didn’t feel like he wanted to kill himself, Zane admitted that the ass pics he’d sent were hot as hell. Heath ended up on his hands and knees with Zane’s mouth on his asshole, and the sex had been much better than usual.
But still not to pre-stale levels.
Since things were on the uptick...well, sort of- Heath decided that he’d try another tip.
He was hesitant about #18, but it was the next thing on the list that he could actually do without breasts or high heels.
He had never noticed Zane get jealous. They were already very affectionate with their friends- it was just normal for them- and none of the guys in the group were interested in other guys.
But he had never tried to make Zane jealous, so this was new territory. This tip was definitely the hardest so far. It was rare for him to notice another guy in a sexual way, and even if he did, his gaydar was pretty terrible. He had no idea whether they would flirt back or punch him in the face.
Good thing he was a risk-taker, right?
Fortunately, a few nights later he was able to try out his flirting skills. The group had gone out to a club downtown, right on the edge of West Hollywood. Heath thought there was a pretty good chance there’d be someone into him there.
He’d worn the same tight jeans he’d done the strip tease in and an even tighter black t-shirt. He knew he was going to get roasted by the guys for the outfit, but it was worth it if it worked to get Zane jealous.
They headed straight to the bar when they arrived. It was packed, and loud, and hot. Zane was clinging to him like glue, partly because of Heath’s ass in those jeans, and partly because he was trying to stay away from Jason, who unfortunately had tagged along.
Normally Heath wouldn’t mind, but it was going to be pretty hard to make Zane jealous if he was watching him the entire time.
His chance came when Zane left to go to the bathroom. He took his drink and scrambled to the other end of the bar that was obscured by people and a big pillar, so Zane would’t find him right away when he came back.
He tried to pose sexily, at first leaning with his back against the bar so he could see everyone, and they could see him. When that didn’t work, he turned around and rested his elbows on the bar, sticking his ass out. He finished his drink and played with his phone, willing someone to just come up and talk to him so he could put this plan in action.
As soon as he had thought it, he felt a hand on his shoulder.
He knew it wasn’t Zane, but he could tell it was definitely a dude. He felt a rush of nervous anticipation, but he pushed it back down, swallowed, and turned to look.
He was gorgeous, His skin was a beautiful caramel color, and his eyes were a deep dark brown. He had head of thick black hair, and an absolutely stellar body. He was like Todd, but with bigger pecs.
“Hi. I’m Jeremy.” The guy held out his hand for Heath to shake.
“Heath.” Jeremy was smiling at him widely, his teeth white and sparkling like he was in a commercial.
“Nice to meet you, Heath. So, I saw you standing here and thought you were pretty cute. I was hoping you’d dance with me,” Jeremy said, gesturing towards the dance floor.
Heath couldn’t imagine walking up to someone and asking them point blank if they wanted to dance, but he guessed that if you were as hot as this guy, you could afford to be a little cocky.
HIs eyes flicked to the other end of the bar. He could see that Zane was looking for him. Heath leaned a little bit more over the bar, hoping that Zane would notice.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw Zane finally spot him, but he kept his eyes on Jeremy.
“Sure, I’d love to,” Heath answered. He let Jeremy take his hand and lead him to the dance floor, and he was positive Zane had seen every step.
It was weird dancing with a guy. He and Zane had never done it seriously, only for a stupid Snap or something. But this guy was serious, and he was already dancing pretty hard.
Heath stayed with Jeremy for a few songs. He realized his plan was backfiring towards the end of the fourth. He was smashed against Jeremy’s front, and he could feel Jeremy’s dick hard against his ass. He was so, so uncomfortable, and he couldn’t see that Zane was even watching them.
He tried to move them closer to where Zane had been standing at the bar, and luckily he was still there, although he was talking to Brandon now.
He lasted one more song, until he couldn’t stomach the feeling of Jeremy against him one second longer.
“Hey, this was really fun, but I better get back to my friends,” Heath said, inching towards the bar.
“Can I get your number before you go?” Jeremy asked, unperturbed.
“I don’t have a phone,” Heath lied before he scurried back to the bar. He ordered a shot of tequila and downed it before approaching Brandon and Zane. As he expected, the burn of the liquor helped to get rid of the cringe.
“Who were you dancing with?” Zane was looking at him funny, but Heath couldn’t tell if he was jealous or not. At least he had seen them.
“Oh, just some guy,” Heath answered casually. “I think his name was John, or Jimmy or something.”
“That’s cool,” Zane replied, nodding and taking a sip of his beer.
That’s cool? What the fuck?
“So, you...you don’t mind?”
“That you were dancing with another guy?” Zane shook his head. “Nah. It’s just dancing. I trust you.”
Okay, Heath’s plan had definitely backfired. And to top it off, Zane apparently was the best boyfriend on the entire planet.
“And it didn’t look like you were having much fun anyway,” Zane added. “Actually, it looked like you were pretty miserable.”
He wasn’t wrong.
Heath stayed at the bar with them for a bit longer before the girls came and dragged him to the floor for more dancing. Dancing with them was a lot more pleasant, and he figured even if the tip hadn’t worked, he was having a good time anyway.
They decided to switch locations at around 1am, and they were walking to the next place when Heath’s phone buzzed. It was Dommy D.
Hey, saw on Snap that u guys were out and about. Mind if I join? Just got back from San Fran but not tired yet.
Heath hadn’t seen Dom in two weeks, and hadn’t realized how much he’d missed him until now. Fuck yes. We’re heading to Sultan now. Meet us there.
Sultan was a hookah bar/club/restaurant/whatever else you could think of. It was what they all liked about it. If you were hype, you could dance and get fucked up. If you were feeling more chill, you could smoke and eat. And the baklava was on point.
See you in twenty.
“Dom’s gonna meet us at Sultan,” Heath told Zane excitedly. “I haven’t seen that guy in forever.”
“Great,” Zane replied with a smile, throwing an arm around Heath’s shoulders.
Heath was feeling more chill, so he went straight for the hookah bar when they arrived. This area of Sultan was covered with low red cushions, with short tables scattered in between.
He flopped onto a cushion. Only Brandon and his date decided to join him, and that was totally fine. Less was more with this sort of thing.
Soon they had a hookah in front of them, and they chatted and took turns smoking.
Dom found him not too long after, and Heath grinned as he sat down next to him on the cushion.
“Dude!” Heath hugged his friend and handed him the hose so he could smoke. “How was San Fran?”
They talked until the hookah had burned out and then they ordered another. Dom kept drinking until he was delightfully tipsy. He was even more hilarious than usual.
Brandon and his date decided to call it a night, so Heath and Dom had the space all to themselves. Their sides were pressed together from thigh to shoulder, and they passed the hose back and forth. Heath laughed a lot, and even though he knew there was only tobacco in the hookah, he felt calmer, more chill, and totally at ease.
Heath let his head drop onto Dom’s shoulder for a second, and Dom wrapped an arm around his shoulders.
“Shotgun!” Dom called out before he inhaled, sucking up the smoke and holding it in his mouth, gesturing at Heath.
Heath laughed and opened his mouth, and Dom pressed his lips against Heath’s to blow the smoke inside.
Heath inhaled deeply, then exhaled the excess off to the side. Dom was still really close to his face, looking at him intently.
“Dom?” Heath breathed, confused. And then he felt Dom’s lips on his again, but this time there was no smoke.
Heath made a surprised noise, and Dom put a hand on his neck and deepened the kiss.
Heath was too shocked to do anything other than sit there with Dom’s tongue in his mouth. Never, in the whole time that they had been friends, had Dom ever shown an inkling of interest in guys, even when he was balls to the wall drunk or high on molly.
Heath didn’t exactly kiss back, but it took him awhile to pull away. What would he do when this kiss was over? What would happen to their friendship?
“Heath?”
Oh no. Oh God no.
Heath turned his head and wiped his mouth on the back of his hand. Zane was standing in front of them, a drink in his hand. He looked crushed. A mixture of anger, and sadness, and utter devastation.
Heath was like in a deer in headlights. Dom had his head in his hands and was cursing quietly to himself.
“I came over to check on you...but it looks like you’re doing okay,” Zane said softly. Heath had never heard him sound like that in his life- heart-broken. “Don’t let me interrupt.”
“Zane-” Heath began, but Zane turned, dropped his drink on a table, and disappeared through the entrance into the night.
“Fuck.” Heath knocked his head against the wall and shut his eyes. It was one thing to dance with a random stranger at a bar. It was another to kiss one of your best friends on the mouth when you already had a boyfriend.
“Fuck.”

Family Road Trip - Amarillo, Durango, & Telluride
Hello there! Remember me?! I'm the girl who used to blog semi-regularly. Now we're lucky if I even remember my password to get on this thing! Ha! All that to be said, I've taken a break from both of my blogs to truly enjoy the summer with my family. I wanted this summer to be all about family and that it has. #noragrets
We just got home from a two week vacation in Colorado. I received several messages regarding our trip....where did we stay? what did we do? where did we eat? SO...I thought it would be easiest just to update our travels here and dust the old cobwebs off this site. Today's post will highlight some of our favorites in Amarillo, TX, and Durango & Telluride, CO. Tomorrow will be all about my most favorite place in the world...Breckenridge!!!
We started out early on a Sunday morning and headed west for the first leg of our trip. We originally planned on spending two weeks in Breckenridge, but at the last minute we changed up our plans and decided we wanted to see a few things we've never seen before. We drove a total of 14 hours the first day and ended up in a little hotel right outside of Albequerque, New Mexico. We received lots of dinner recommendations for our short stay, but because we arrived so late, we grabbed some Subway and called it a night.
I love road trips, so the 14 hours we spent driving seemed to fly by. Truly. Between pit stops and random pullovers to check out sights we'd never seen before...plus an EXCELLENT playlist (if I do say so myself ;)...14 hours flew by in a flash. And even though I'm sure I'll receive some sort of "you don't deserve to raise your children" type messages for this, our McDonald's stop was pretty on point. We only get it a couple of times a year and you better believe I went all out. All the large fries, pink slime (aka: nuggets...amazing)...and Coke I could handle. #feelfreetojudge
Before getting to Albequerque, we stopped off the highway in Amarillo to check out Cadillac Ranch. We really didn't know much about what to expect other than what we heard from friends so we didn't come prepared. I should've read up on it, but I didn't. Just seemed like a cool thing we'd see and then leave. Anyway, Cadillac Ranch is a large piece of land with about 10 Cadillacs buried in the ground nose down. One of those crazy Texas landmarks, lol. It's definitely a cool sight to see & part of the allure is getting to spray paint the cars. The kids were in awe. We should've come prepared with spray paint bottles...which we didn't...but there was a family there with extras who saw us aimlessly wandering about and gifted the boys their half-used cans. Super nice. And just enough to give the boys a taste for tagging :)
This was the perfect pit stop to get out, stretch our legs, and see something we've never seen before. The boys REALLY enjoyed this stop so we didn't rush through it. We stayed for about 30-45 minutes, but probably could've stayed a lot less. I think we were all a little happy to be out of the car.
If you've never seen it before and it's a stop along your way, you definitely want to pull over and check it out for yourself. It's right off of HWY 40 so you don't have to travel far off of your route to get there. We'll probably stop again next summer when we head that way again. Just make sure to bring your own cans of spray paint before you go!
Day 2 found us on our last leg of our first destination. It was about a 5.5 hour drive from Albequerque to Durango, CO and we arrived just in time for lunch. Before getting to Durango, we had to pull over for a photo op. The boys wanted to say they walked to Colorado, LOL!!!
Luckily another family pulled in right behind us and we were able to get a family pic together. Cheesy, but had to be done. Onward and upward to Durango we went.
A friend of mine who is from that area suggested we eat at Steamworks Brewery for lunch. GREAT recommendation! We sat on the patio, enjoyed the cool breeze, and the food was 12 kinds of delicious. We both enjoyed the special...beef brisket tacos...and they were amazing. I also had a side of chicken tortilla soup and it was sensational. Let me just warn you right here that much of this vacation consisted of me stuffing my face full of #allthefood. Not sad about it at all.
After lunch, we walked around the historic downtown area and took in the sights. We walked into a few little shops, grabbed some cinnamon rolls for the boys, and then headed to Telluride. We had a ton of people telling us to make sure we rode the train from Durango to Silverton, check out the cave dwellings in Mesa Verde National Park, and go rafting. We would've done ALL of those things, but we didn't plan for it so we were strapped for time. We wanted to get to Telluride before dark. No part of driving through the mountains in the dark is fun for either of us and with Telluride being our ultimate destination, we decided to cut our time in Durango really short to give us plenty of time to make it to Telluride before sunset. Next year Durango will be a one or two night pit stop, God willing! We'd LOVE to check out some of those recommendations. The downtown area was so charming!
Telluride was only a couple of hours drive from Durango and we couldn't wait to arrive. The drive was gorgeous...and really scary. We're not used to ascending into the highest heights of the mountains on a regular basis. Couple that with insane rain, hail, and a 40 degree drop in temperatures through some of the highest points and you can bet that we were white knuckle driving and on edge for the last hour or so of our drive. YIKES. I envy the locals who can drive through the mountains in those conditions without so much as blinking an eye.
Once we made it through the scary parts of our journey, we found ourselves in Telluride and y'all...I was taken aback. I mean, completely speechless. The views in Telluride are truly BREATHTAKING. Everywhere we turned we were surrounded by mountains & peaks. In every single direction. And not in the distance. I felt like the mountains were hugging the town. Heaven on Earth.
Since we added this stop to our trip at the last minute our choices of places to stay were a little limited. Or so we thought. Neither of us knew a thing about the town, so knowing where to stay (Mountain Village?? or in town???) threw us for a loop. We read and read and read about it, but still came out unsure of what to do. We eventually decided it would be best to stay in town because from what we read we thought Mountain Village would be dead in the summer. We ended up finding a pretty inexpensive lodge to call home for a couple of nights that was in walking distance of Colorado Ave. & close to the trailhead of the hike up Bear Creek Falls Trail we planned on taking.
We stayed at Manitou Lodge in a loft style room. Y'all...it was the cutest thing. The entire unit was made up of 11 different rooms. Our loft-style room upstairs included both lower and upper balconies. This was truly the perfect accommodation for our little family of four. Adam and I slept upstairs and the boys slept downstairs on the couch. We couldn't get over how perfect it was! Comfy and quaint...our kind of place.
This was the view outside our balcony doors...
The San Miguel river ran right alongside our lodge. We kept our windows and balcony doors open at night so that we could listen to the rushing water as we trailed off to sleep. Pure heaven.
This is where the boys liked to play every time we walked outside...
It felt like we were semi-nestled in the woods and that was the most amazing feeling. The only downside...if I had to pick one...was that the bathroom was really, really tiny. NOT a big deal at all. We dont' need a lot of space. But if you're someone who likes a bigger bathroom, this wouldn't be your jam. However, for us, it was the perfect spot. This will be our go-to lodging when we visit Telluride again, for sure!!!
We settled into our lodge, changed into warmer clothes, and walked to Colorado Ave. (which is the main drag) for dinner. I felt like our lodge was centrally located to everything we wanted to do and once we parked the car we didn't drive it again until leaving town. Everyone we met and several people on IG recommended we eat at Brown Dog Pizza. We're never one to turn down pizza, so that's where we headed for our first meal in town. Everyone clearly knew what they were talking about because that was one of the best meals we've had in a long time!!!
It's a cozy place with lots of TVs for the sports fanatics, and the kids had the option of making their own pizzas at the table and sending them back to bake. I thought that was such a cool touch! Of course, they both opted to create their own and here they are making their meals...
The end product....
They ate every last bite! As did we (we opted for the supreme pizza...highly recommed!). Ha! Great first meal! I would HIGHLY recommend stopping here if you find yourself in Telluride.
We headed to bed a little early so we could wake up and hit the trails for some hiking the next morning. We are a family who loves to hike, so I researched some of our options before getting into town. I wanted an easy to moderate trail because we aren't experts & I figured we'd still be acclimating to the altitude. Plus, hiking with kids for this semi-overprotective mom sometimes has me on edge. Both boys are great hikers. They LOVE it. But they're also a little over-confident so I didn't want anything extraordinarily difficult or treacherous. After lots of research, we decided on the Bear Creek Falls Trail and it was a bonus that the trailhead was about a 5 minute walk from our lodge.
We read that the bugs can be pretty annoying through certain parts of the hike, so we came prepared with bug spray....and LOTS of trail mix, granola bars, and water. It's a 4.5 mile round trip hike so all of those extras came in handy. The hike was AMAZING. Wide open trails to walk up until hitting the top before the waterfall. Some parts of the trail were a little more challenging to hike than others (steep, rocky, etc.), but it wasn't "hard" by any means. This little area was a great resting point going up and coming back down...
I guess hikers stop here and stack rocks one on top of the other and leave them for the next group of hikers to ogle. My youngest absolutely LOVED this area. He quickly went to work making his own little stacks and he was so very proud of his handiwork. See?! LOL.
We stopped and snacked. Drank some water. Stacked some rocks. And then headed to the top.
It was sweet heaven when we finally made it. I mean, just LOOK AT THIS VIEW!!!!!!
We sat down our gear and the boys headed into the water to jump across the rocks and explore. I watched our things and sat down to catch my breath while taking in the beauty of God's creation.
The sheer magnitude of those views is so hard to articulate.
We realized we hadn't exactly made it to the top when the boys finally came back from exploring. We came to see the waterfall so we needed to climb a little bit more to get to our final destination. The path going up was a bit trickier. Definitely narrow and steep-ish in parts...wet and rocky...a little slippery...but the boys powered through and the climb to the top was worth every breath lost. It was BEAUTIFUL.
We stayed at the falls long enough to snap a few pics and marvel at the view. My oldest was ready to get down. He's not a fan of heights...just like his momma....and this part of the hike had him feeling a little nervous. And if I'm being honest, it had me a little nervous, too.
If you're in Telluride with kids, I definitely recommend this hike. Yes...it's long. 4.5 miles round trip isn't exactly a short walk in the park. But it's definitely worth it. My boys did so much better than I expected. They were great! My youngest lives life at a much slower pace than my oldest. He takes his sweet time doing everything (hello 45 minutes to eat a hot dog!!!!). So he definitely took his time on this trail. Dad walked with our oldest and I walked with our youngest. We lagged behind the other two the majority of the hike, but the conversations we had were worth the distance between us. The only time the boys complained was on our way down when we had about a mile left to walk. My youngest said, "are we close yet? My legs are getting tired." And that was it. Not too bad!
Walking back to our lodge after the hike....just right down the street.
We headed back to the lodge, changed clothes, and walked back to Colorado Ave. for lunch. We were STARVING!!! We went up and down the street trying to figure out what to eat. Everyone wanted something different. We were all a little irritable and HANGRY. My oldest could live on grilled cheese and when we found this cart we knew he found his lunch...
We grabbed him a sandwich that he could eat on the go while the rest of us tried to agree on something. IMPOSSIBLE. Like I said, irritable and hangry. After walking in and out of several different places, we finally settled on Smuggler's Brew Pub which was right around the corner from our lodge. We sat on the patio, ordered our food, and after what seemed like forever, we finally chowed down. And then came the rain. OF COURSE!!! Irritable moods were made even worse. Lord help us. Let me say this though...the food was EXCELLENT. Great menu and the atmosphere was one of my favorites. The only thing that dampened our experience was the rain ( no pun intended). I would definitely recommend stopping in for a meal here. I ordered the meatball slider sandwhich (amazing!) and my youngest ordered the nutella on toast (which he took two bites of and then abandoned. not cool). No idea what the spouse was eating because I was hyperfocused on my own meal and all the food my son wasn't eating. Definitely would go back again!
We headed back to the lodge for a nap because we ALL needed one. And it was the best nap ever. We slept with the windows and doors open as the rain came down. Perfection. When we woke up a few hours later, we got dressed and headed to the gondola to ride up to Mountain Village and see what it was all about.
Like I said earlier, I have a fear of heights, so I was NOT looking forward to the ride up. It's a pretty steep climb, but everyone was telling us it was a MUST DO and I certainly didn't want the kids to see my fears get the best of me. So up we went and I'm SO glad we did! Yes, I had butterflies in my stomach almost the whole way up, but WOW. The views were unparalleled. Just stunning!!!!
Mountain Village was DARLING and I could absolutley see how it would be even more amazing during ski season. By the time we got there, all the little shops were starting to shut down and it was pretty quiet. However, I think we would've loved staying here this time of year. There were a ton of things for the kids to do...panning for gold, trampoline bungee, obstacle course, park, etc....but they were all closed for the night. . However, we were able to find a little park with a rock climbing wall and the boys enjoying *trying* to scale it until they gave up. Ha.
The restaurants were all still open as was an open area with yard checkers and other little games for the kids to play. We just got up there at the wrong time. Going during the day would've been our best bet. I would probably suggest staying in Mountain Village during the summer if you have kids. You could always take the gondola down into Telluride if you plan on hiking or just walking around town. The vibe in Mountain Village just seemed a bit more family friendly. But dang...that Manitou Lodge in town was the best!!!!
After the boys finished playing, we headed to a little pub to grab a local beer and then gondola back down to town. We walked to The Floradora Saloon for a late dinner. I was OBSESSED with this place!!!! I'm all about the cozy little places with lots of history and The Floradora Saloon has been around Telluride since the early 70's. Much of the decor from those days is still intact which adds to the charm of the atmosphere. The food was WONDERFUL, too. So flavorful and completely unexpected. I had the baked mac & cheese and ohmiword....to-die-for. Adam got the Pork Green Chili and said it was the best chili he's ever had. Great dining experience!! HIGHLY recommend.
The next morning we were up bright and early to clean-up, pack up, and hit the road to our ultimate destination...Breckenridge! We loaded up the car and walked to Baked in Telluride for breakfast. It was just one block up from our lodge and we were dying to check it out after walking past it several different times. Just look at all these baked goods!!!! Of course, the boys opted for donuts as big as their heads...
Dad had a croissant and I had an apple turnover. Both excellent selections, but I'm thinking anything from this place would've been amazing.
After breakfast,we took the gondola back up to Mountain Village to grab a souvenir Tervis we saw window shopping the night before, and then back down to head out. I LOVE Breckenridge and couldn't wait to get there, but I did NOT want to leave Telluride at all. Two nights wasn't enough. We decided we need more time to explore next time we're out that way. We'll tack this on to our trip and make our stay last a few extra nights. There are a couple of other hiking trails we'd love to try and sights we'd love to see like Bridal Veil Falls.
If you're thinking about a trip to Telluride, GO! NOW. Hahah. But seriously. You definitely want to see it for yourself. It's impossible to describe until you experience it in person. We will definitely be back and we'd even love to ski here one ski season if possible! I say "if possible" because the tiny airport isn't anything I'm brave enough to conquer. Big planes, big airports...I can barely even do those. Driving in the summer is way easier for my chicken self to conquer.
Many people asked why we didn't fly and this is exactly why. There's SO much to see and we wanted to see it all. Driving is the best way to do it! And since we both have time during the summer to road trip, we figured we'd make the most of it and drive. I personally LOVE road trips. Not just because I don't like flying, but road trips afford you the opportunity to see things you wouldn't otherwise. It helps that our kids are a little older (8 & 10), are easily entertained, and don't need diaper changes or bottles. We've been on 18 hour road trips to Indiana when they were babies and I know that's hard! But even so, road trips, in my opinion, are always the best way to travel!!!
Let's talk Breck tomorrow!

“Family” Part Two
Words: 1,581
Norman Reedus x Daughter Reader
Warnings: Swearing
Link to part one
“You have got to be kidding me.” Anna showed up at my doorstep. It had been a few days since my encounter with my dad. I haven’t seen him since, he had to fly to San Diego for Comic Con, but he’d be back next week.
“Anna? What are you doing here? We don’t usually meet until seven.” I say, looking at the clock. It was barely six in the morning- the sun wasn’t even up yet.
“I told you to watch The Walking Dead, not have coffee with Norman fucking Reedus!” Her eyes are wide.
“How do you know about that?” I questioned her, letting her come inside. She obviously wasn’t leaving.
“Have you been online lately?”
“No, I’ve been busy trying to finish my homework. AP Calculus is kicking my ass. But that doesn’t answer my question.”
“Search up Norman on Google. Look at the recent media posts about him.” She looks at me weirdly. I pull out my phone, typing in his name. I gasp at the results- there were pictures of the two of us drinking coffee together, being swamped by fans, and getting into the taxi together. The headlines were worse. ‘Norman’s new woman?’ ‘Hot young girl getting coffee with Norman Reedus- See the pics!’ ‘Norman is dating a mystery girl!’
“Oh my god.” I want to scream.
“I just want to know how the fuck you managed to score him! I’ve been trying to get his attention through Twitter forever.” She seemed frustrated.
“Ew, listen, I did not ‘score him.’ We’re not, like, together.” I try to say calmly.
“I don’t understand.”
“Look, if I tell you something, you can’t tell a soul.” I tell her.
“Swear.”
“He’s my dad.”
“No way.” She shakes her head. “You’re lying.”
“I’m not. I just found out.”
“Wow.” She seems like she can’t figure out what to say. “Okay.”
“It’s a lot to process, I know. Trust me.” I grab some water from the kitchen.
“I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to tell people.”
“People are going to treat me differently. I don’t want people to want to be my friend just because I have a famous dad.” I admit.
“Oh, hun.” Anna laughs. “People are going to treat you differently regardless. They think you two are, like, dating.”
-
I underestimated his fame.
People stopped me on the streets while I walked to school, asking me questions about my “relationship” with my father. I ignored them and just kept walking, but people still looked at me funny. The whole day throughout school, everyone looked at me weird. Some girls looked jealous, other disgusted. Most of the guys just smiled at me.
“So, dating a big shot, huh?” One of my soccer teammates came up to me in the locker room after practice. “I’m jealous. He’s like a sex god.”
I looked at her in disgust before slamming my locker door, walking away.
“Hey, Y/N, I’m sorry, that wasn’t supposed to make you mad.” She followed me.
“We’re not dating. Not even close. So please leave me alone.” I say with attitude, opening the door and walking outside. “And feel free to tell everyone else that. I’m tired of being stared at.”
I get in bed as soon as I get home, exhausted. All I want to do is talk to my mom, but she’s nowhere to be seen. I grab my phone, going through my twitter feed. It’s filled with people talking about me. Shocker. I don’t even read them. They’re probably just more bullshit rumors.
I was about to shut it off when a new post pops up- a video from the San Diego Comic Con. I click on it, seeing that it was the Walking Dead’s con. It starts off with the announcer talking to my dad, who is not paying attention to him at all. My dad was too busy messing around with the guy who’s name tag says “Andrew Lincoln.” I frown, realizing that this was the guy who I’ve been telling Anna is hot for ages, and he’s seemingly my dad’s friend. Crush gone.
“Norman, we’ve got a question from a fan.” The announcer says, and my dad starts paying attention.
“Hi, Norman! We’ve been all wondering- who was that girl you were with a few days ago?” This blonde lately asks.
“She’s my daughter.”
The crowd goes crazy. I guess they didn’t know I existed.
“You have another kid besides Mingus? What’s her name?” A fan yells from the crowd.
“I don’t know if she’s comfortable with me telling the world that.”
Then the screen cuts black, and the video is over. Half of me is glad he told everyone, so people will stop looking at me like I’m some huge seventeen year old slut dating an older guy. But another half of me is upset. My life is about to change dramatically. Suddenly, I’m not just Y/N anymore. People are going to look at me and just see Norman’s daughter.
I pull out my phone and call my dad.
“What’s going on?” He answered. There was talking in the background, like he was out with friends or something.
“I can call you later if you’re busy.”
“Give me a minute.” He says to someone in the background, and then the noise stops. “Sorry, all the cast members and I are together in the hotel room. Celebrating for the last night of being here.”
“Don’t apologize. I just needed to talk to someone. My mom’s not here, and I’m just super stressed out. People are stopping me on the streets and taking pictures of me. Everyone at my school are treating me weird. I don’t know what to do.” I sigh.
“Hey, look, I go through this all the time. So did Mingus. It’ll die down eventually.”
“Mingus?” I question.
“Yeah, I uh, I have another kid.”
“You’re a busy man.” I joke.
“Shut up.” He laughs. “You know, I fly back into New York tomorrow morning. Why don’t you come stay with me for a few days? I don’t have much to do, but I got a cat and a bunch of South Park recorded on TV if you’re into that thing.”
“I have school.”
“I live in a different borough, not a different state. You can still get to school. Hell, it’s only for a few days, you could skip school if you wanted and we could actually hang out. I don’t have long until I have to fly back to Atlanta to film.” He drove a hard bargain.
“Fine.” I finally say. “Can you just pick me up after school tomorrow? I don’t want to have to walk all the way home just to have to leave again.”
“I’ll be there. See you tomorrow, Y/N.”
“See ya.”
-
The next day was worse. People literally stopped me on the streets to take a picture with me, which was the weirdest thing. They all knew my name, so I guess someone spilled information to the tabloids.
School was about the same. People stared at me all day, but at least not in disgust this time. A few people tried asking me if they could meet my dad but I just ignored them. Finally the bell rang, indicating that school was over. Thank god.
“You coming to practice?” Anna asked me as we took our stuff out of the lockers.
“Nah.” I shut my locker door. “Got shit to do.”
“Coach is going to be mad.”
“No offense, but I don’t really give a flying fuck what coach thinks. I go to every single practice. I have never missed one, and I participate in every single game. Now, if you’d excuse me, I still have shit to do.”
Yeah, she is a little annoying sometimes, but I didn’t mean to be that rude to her. “I’m sorry. I just have a lot going on.”
“It’s fine. Go. I’ll tell her you got sick.” She smiles weakly at me.
I hug her before I go outside. I see a car sitting in front of the school with dark tinted windows. The window to the backseat rolls down, and my dad smiles at me.
“You ready?” He asks. The people outside gasp, but thankfully don’t freak out. I nod and get inside the car.
“Upper East Side, please.” He tells the driver.
“A driver, huh?” I raise my eyebrows at him once I get settled in the car.
“I’m not a pretentious douchebag, if that’s what you’re hinting at.” He laughs.
“Jesus, I feel like I’m in Gossip Girl. Serena, where at you?” I joke.
“What?” He asks.
“Nevermind.”
We get to his apartment building a while later. It’s nice-definitely the Upper East Side. The driver let both of us out, and we walked up to his apartment.
“This is where you live?” I gaped. It was huge, at least for New York standards. It was also really messy, but the nice furniture and the cute cat meeting us at the door made up for it.
“Yeah, sorry it looks like a tornado blew through here. I’ve been sleeping all day and didn’t clean.” He admits.
“I don’t mind. You saw where I lived.”
“Want some food? There’s leftover Chinese in the fridge from lunch.”
“Starving.”
I reheat the food, and then take a seat on his couch while I turn on the TV.
Maybe being his daughter isn’t so bad after all.

7/13/18 -- Sister Nicole Ritman, Spain, Madrid Mission
El Diablo Wears Prado
Today´s subject line comes from the Elders in my district who love to sing "Jesuuuuus es mi luuuuuuuz" all the time, but they don´t remember the words, so they just sing that line for every part of the song. the song is The Lord is my Light, but the Spanish version sounds way better for some reason.
¡Hola a todos!
Can you believe that I´ve been a resident of Spain (we got our residency cards from the police station about the second day here, which looks like a blue plastic Barbie castle) for more than a week?! Also I apologize for advance about all my convention errors. I cannot figure out this Spanish keyboard and Spellcheck isn`t being helpful.
Well, half the group met up at the Amsterdam airport. The other people were in Paris. We had a few hours, so I got stroofwaffels to share, which were so delicious after airplane food, and we wandered around to every part of the airport. We even found an outside balcony where there were chairs covered in leaves. Eventually, we got to Madrid in the evening and got our companions, tags and dinner. I feel so legit with a tag. I even had a dream the second night here that I was at home, but I showed everyone my tag and said "I belong in Madrid!" "Send me back I belong there!". I´m not even lying lol.
The CCM is the fourth (telestial kindom of classes), fifth (terrestrial kingdom of rooms) and sixth (celestial kingdom of the dining hall. We have food from a lot of countries. My favs are ribs, the rolls with olive oil and balsamic qinuoa soup and the fried plantains we had today). Every time we go on the stairs, we have a PERFECT view of the Madrid temple. When I was little I wanted to live on the temple grounds and now I do! We can study and chill and we do service once a week on the temple grounds. (The other days we can do sports, usually futbol in this edgy urban graffiti pit, baloncesto in the stake center gym, workout in the exercise gym or volleyball).
My compañera is Hermana Quist. We get along really well because we have the same crazy humor and also teach lessons together well. So far, we´ve gotten our (fake for practice) person who were teaching (church update they are not called investigators anymore!) to learn the first two lessons and we even shared personal experiences and got to know him all in Spanish! El don del lenguas (the gift of tongues) is real guys. She actually nannied in Madrid last year so it was super cool that she got called back here.
Theres only about 35 people total, including a district going to Ukraine in the CCM. I know everyone, even the teachers. I love it its like a little family! I´m in the Abinadi district with Elder Jackson (District Leader, knows how to put us on task but can take us off too. Super funny.), Elder Holland (From Cali and is full of life), Elder Brown (From Virginia, has a more lowkey but also hilarious personality), Elder Ashby (one of the funniest people I´ve ever met and that makes class fun. He tries to set all the CCM teachers up with each other.) The other Hermanas are Hermana Hanna (her name is super fun to say in Spanish and she´s so talkative sometimes it´s so fun) and Hermana Mortenson (super chill and really cute but has a fun streak). Together, we´re one of the most fun districts and all our personalities balance each other out. We have district bonding at least once a day because we all get along so well.
Well, the daily life in the CCM is a lot of Spanish lessons and gospel lessons, fully in Spanish (we´re the intermediate district I guess). Spanish was always a fun class, but now it´s so much more satisfying when there´s actually an end goal of ACTUALLY LEARNING the language!!! It´s so motivating and we even did a Spanish session in the temple today. Super legit. (A temple session is where we perform ordinances for our ancestors so they may be able to return to live with God in heaven someday.)
I´m skipping a lot, but I have to talk about PDay today...
I AM IN LOVE WITH A MAN NAMED MADRID. This city is so lively and full of music on the metro and beautiful architecture. On Saturday, we went to Retiro Park to proselyte. I was SOO awkward and I had no excuse because everyone I talked to spoke English. We did exchanges and I was with Hermana Mecham. But, we got a referral from an elderly man. Pretty sure he just wanted OUR numbers (like he kept asking us) because it seemed like he just thought Hmna Mecham was young and cute. Oh well. At the end, we all sang songs in Spanish and English and I saw a bunch of people taking pics of us.
Before I talk about PDay today, I have to say that we got pulled into the stake center by a Portuguese group visiting the temple. The youth sang the EFY medley (Armies of Helaman and As Sisters of Zion). It was so funny because a lot of the missionaries thought it was in Spanish and looked so scared because they didn´t know any of it haha. But anyways, the youth sang to us and I felt the Spirit so strong! We ARE the armies of Helaman and we´re bringing the world his truth!
The Preparation Day outing was amazing. We went to Puerta del Sol, which had the kilometro cero, the center of Madrid where the street is zero. We then went to the Plaza Mayor, where bullfights and heretic executions would happen in the old days, but now it´s just fun to see and crazy expensive apartments are on top. Life goals right there.
The highlight was the Chocolateria San Gines, which is a cafe that has been serving churros con chocolate (its not sweet but they´re SO GOOD) since 1894. I saw Stevie Wonder´s pic on the wall.
Finally, we hit up Primark for those essentials we all inevitably forgot. If you ever go to Europe, go because it´s pretty cheap.
I love the CCM so much. It can be really tiring sometimes, but it´s honestly so much fun being able to get close to everyone because it´s so small, feel the Spirit 24/7 and have a bunch of fun jokes with everyone. We literally have a notebook of Ashbyisms for everything funny he or someone else says in class haha. It´s the best.
Thank you all for supporting me and being good friends to me before! Don´t think that me loving Madrid doesn´t mean I don´t miss you all!
Hermana Ritman
PS I´m so sorry I totally ran out of time for personal emails! Next week for sure!
Also sorry this is so long I doubt the test will be. it's just been a long week!
Pics: Most are on other peoples cameras and phones. I only have our 4th of July patriotism and Pray today
