sorry for a big post but i just found those again recently
huge throwback to these little things i did while bored out of my mind between calls on my tech support job i had in 2017 🌞 the phrases are whatever i could think of at the moment, from phrases i heard on calls to what i saw in google search to personal observations...
i did these with a mouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have not been able to replicate this style since. it will forever stay there, on that imac with that weird apple mouse and a random art app i downloaded that they later locked me out of bcs u know ur not supposed to download third party apps on work computers but i was also not allowed to have paper like what are yououuuu expecting me to do GOD i hated that place they made me work for 6 days in a row then ONE (1) ☝ day off and then SIX MORE DAYS AGAIN with sometimes less than 12 hours between shifts but i was young and stupid and didnt complain. this went on longer than i thought it would.
I was also (unsurprisingly) sososososososo depressed and this song was a big comfort (and hey, its an english one for once!)

Hey how many indoor wasps is a concerning number of indoor wasps, and how do you get rid of them? I am not anti-wasp and am fine with them living in my yard, but this is the second wasp in my house in like two weeks and I am prone to severe allergies. Like, I don't know that I'm allergic to wasps, but I would not be surprised if I was, given my long list of other allergies? Also one of the wasps was a dead wasp on the floor right next to my bed and I found it after almost stepping on it barefoot. I would like to not do that again. I am not concerned about being stung if I know the wasp is there, but I am not always the most observant of people lol

imagine if New Jersey was notoriously terrible at taking care of plants to the point New York felt bad and would properly take care of them when NJ wasn’t looking so when a plant would survive for over a week with NJ he’d be so ecstatic; eventually NJ probably learnt how to care for them properly I’m sure tho
I have a really old plant (I forget what kind) but she’s named Queen. She’s really chill and I practically grew up with her ✌︎('ω')✌︎

🍂Weekly Tag Wednesday! 🍂
Look at me going at it after being AWOL for like a month. 👀 Thank you Nosho @creepkinginc, Becki @francesrose3, Jess @jrooc, Kaka @stocious and Willow @ian-galagher for the tags! 🥰
0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0
(stealing Willow's format, because it's pretty and neat)
Name: Sky
Location: In a cave, underneath a pretty rock somewhere. 🪨
And now for the randomness! tell me your most and least favorites of: (brave to assume I'll be able to choose just one...)
Candy?
Most - I've always like sour Haribo of all kinds. Also any candy or chocolate bars. Least - The very soft, cotton like gummies (gumdrop?)
Seasons?
Most - Autumn where it's not cold yet, but everything's pretty. Also snowy winter. Least - That very ugly time when autumn is turning into winter and everything is sad.
Hot beverage?
Most - Cocoa or hot chocolate. Least - Green tea.
Cold beverage?
Most - Most sodas and coffee (I drink cold coffee even if it's freezing) Least - Tonic. Blah.
Colours?
Most - Black, blue, green and orange. Least - Pink.
Vegetables?
Most - I will devour any vegetable and I love them with all my heart as long as they are raw. (I'd also say tomatoes, because they are one of the best things ever, but they're technically a fruit. Also potatoes - raw - but they aren't vegetables either. They deserve the honorable mention though) Least - Most if they are cooked/baked/went through any kind of heat treatment. But mostly spinach.
Traditional foods from your country?
Most - Oh wow. We have so many and I love most. But maybe... lángos, chitterling-sausage, kürtőskalács, pig feet stew - okay I have to stop, but I have so many more. I need to put together a list... Least - We have a chitterling that's made with liver. I never liked those. Or stuffed cabbage.
Insects?
Most - Okay, now hear me out. Any insect is instantly my best friend, so I can't just choose one... All the bugs, that's for sure and other than that... I find dragonflies to be quite pretty. Least - These are all context specific, but... I'm seconding Nosho with the midges. Also the small, bitey flies and most gadflies (painful as heck if they bite/sting) that will absolutely devour everything and everyone during the summer.
Cake flavours?
Most - Any fruit, chocolate, coffee and lemon. Least - Anything made with cottage cheese.
Non-gallagher or milkovich shameless characters?
Most - V, maybe Kev. I also liked Sue. Least - Sammi. Caleb. The usual ones. (Also stealing Willow's thought, because as entertaining as Paula was, damn her)
These questions proved how incapable I am of choosing just one "most". But oh well. Keeping it interesting.
Tagging a few awesome people, because I'm miraculously on time. Hop in or have this cookie: 🍪

the second art on that post has a deeply like. Long ass story build up to it that I cannot summarize at all it was born from scenario rambling but it is Tender, and a small soft exchange of gentle forgiveness… that is true…

hey, if you meet somebody and learn that they have an "unconventional" pet (I'm mainly talking about insects and fish and reptiles but I've seen people do this with rats and mice too), PLEASE don't then tell them at length how disgusting or scary or freaky or awful it is???
its sad that this has to be said, but pets are often beloved members of the family and that INCLUDES your co-workers tarantula that he loves and dotes on and has taken care of for years and that INCLUDES your classmate's python with the amazing tricked out enclosure and that INCLUDES your friend's aquarium full of leeches or terrarium stocked only with isopods or their little gaggle of hissing cockroaches.
yes, even if you DO think it's gross and would never own one yourself, yes EVEN if you have a PHOBIA of the animal in question! there are so many ways to kindly and maturely let that person know that you'd rather not interact with or see the animal than just roasting this person's pet unprompted. being afraid doesn't give you a license to be cruel.
i had a pet mantis for a while in my first year of uni (her name was kate bush) and let me tell you, after raising her by hand and watching her grow and flourish, after hours spent with her keeping me company on my potted plant while I worked, after saving her molts like baby teeth and her first egg case like i was a proud grandparent, i was as much of a sobbing heap the day i had to put her down due to illness as ive been when cats or dogs have died. and the friends that consoled me and appreciated the love i had for that amazing little creature DESPITE BEING SHIT SCARED OF HER are the friends i am most grateful for!
if you can't personally see the beauty and value in less "charismatic" animals then im sorry for you, but at least be respectful to your fellow human beings who love them.

had the thought 'it might be interesting to also collect a cicada nymph before it can molt and keep it as a wet specimen' and then immediately the concept of a cicada quietly growing underground for thirteen years to finally, finally emerge into the world only to get killed and put in a jar before it ever has a chance to stretch its wings just because some idiot thought it'd be neat nearly made me cry
#'jay aren't you gonna eat them' yeah#it's different#the main reason I stopped collecting insects after DJ and I broke up is that I get Weird about it#it's a weird... like. so vulnerable species notwithstanding#one thing about bugs in an ecosystem is that they're highly abundant and-- on an individual basis-- disposable#they lay a zillion eggs because they're getting eaten (or just stepped on even) by every other goddamn thing alive#in general my sincere belief is that a hobbyist with an insect collection is literally fine#but on a PERSONAL level because I'm not A Scientist and I know my personal desire for an insect collection comes down to 'they're pretty'--#feels weird. feels bad! feels like a bad reason to kill something even if killing that specific thing isn't measurably harmful to do#same way I feel about people killing spiders when I JUST SAID I would take care of it#like... okay there are a zillion other grass spiders where that came from but YOU are still a dickhead for doing that for no reason#ANYWAY. I'm making a collection exception for magicicadas because 1) okay @me come on there's gonna be a zillion. it's literally fine#and 2) this double emergence feels like such a genuinely big deal to me! first one in ~200 years and there won't be another for ~200 more!!#if I can collect scientifically viable specemins it feels like... there's a point to that#beyond 'I saw a butterfly so pretty I just HAD to kill it 🥰' you know??#... this has all come a bit tangential to the post I guess lol but... just feels existentially cruel#lots of cicada nymphs are going to get stepped on or eaten before they can molt into adults and I know that but it still just.. makes me sa#they live SO LONG. they've waited SO LONG for this. aahhh...#about me#cicada quest

one very good thing about Knowing Bugs that I hope to impart on people who are Afraid Of Bugs (that's okay!) even just a little bit is that once you get to Know bugs, you can feel something crawling around on your leg at night in your dark bedroom and when you turn on your light to look at it you can assess that hey. This Particular Guy is harmless and fine. and instead of feeling scared you can make that assessment and brush him off or put him outside or whatever feels comfortable to do and just go back to whatever chill thing you were doing! because hey you've Noticed and Observed enough bugs now to differentiate the ones that might be dangerous* from the ones that are largely neutral to you! and it's nice to have that knowledge because it helps you feel more secure in your environment (a home is an environment too!) and more comfortable and less scared, and it's always nice to be Less Scared I think <3
*disclaimer: even "dangerous" bugs are inherently valuable and worthy of their own buggy life opportunities, and with time you can learn to be very relaxed around them too! but at the same time if there is a tick crawling up your leg at night unfortunately you do have to recognize that and remove it :/
