i think ive finally put words to a personal preference in art that ive been struggling to put together for a long time and its all thanks to watching sims builders on youtube

cause like. theres a few relevant people i follow who i love for lots of other things, but a trend several of them lean on a LOT is that like. they'll veer away from strong colors unless the whole build is focusing on certain ones in particular. or they'll only ever use one or two wood tones for the furniture. which are both choices i personally dont like, and the only way ive ever been able to word the feeling i get is "it's too same-y"

but on the other hand, one of the very same people has been experimenting with doing builds that are almost entirely the same color, and those never feel "too same-y"

but today, i suddenly realized why i hated the choices they were making sometimes and not others while watching a build i was growing to hate. because this build is colorful in theory, but it still feels so plain.

its because its 100% pastels with no contrasting or popping colors

without bold pops of contrast, even something with a million different pastel shades just looks like a rainbow of sterile beige

meanwhile the builds that focus on one predominant color physically couldn't stick to the exact same shade and hue, so ended up with offsetting accents throughout

this is totally a personal taste thing first and foremost but like. if you ever feel like something youve made feels a bit flat, its probably because whatever it is is lacking contrast.

if the whole design is round and bubbly, add some hard edges and sharp points to create focal points. if the whole story is calm and happy, add some moments of worry and tension to make us really feel the joy. if the shirt and pants are skin-tight, accessorize with something big or flowy to draw attention where you want it to be.

if the whole house is pastel, for the love of god add some darkness and intensity for it to shine against instead of a beige that sucks the color out of the rest

you need some point of boldness and bravery for everything else to stand on

🌻: What makes you want to give up on writing? What makes you keep going?

Sometimes I hit these slumps where all my writing feels stale. Either in the sense of "this is so unoriginal and flat what is the point of this" or "I cannot for the life of me figure out what to write" and its like. Why write if you hate what youre making, yaknow? But then I start to feel stale if I don't write. So that sucks. But most of my motivation comes from having friends who are willing to entertain me and my attempts at finding ideas and stories.

💝: What is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

Killing Time, Flying High didn't feel particularly noteworthy to me. It was a fun fic that I enjoyed writing but it kinda just feels like any of my other fics. I'm at the point where a lot of my writing falls into the category of "another one of those oneshots that don't particularly stand out", and I forget about a lot of them tbh. But that one is one of the top kudos'd fics, and was actually the first fic of mine that got recced on the LU Main discord server. So, yeah, surprised about that.

💌: Share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited

So.... I'm starting a fic for the Too Many Links AU. I haven't gotten much done because we are actively in thesis crunch time, but the ideas are starting. I'll still be writing LU, obviously, but I've been messing around with all these Links that of course I'd want to make something with them. Here's the first few paragraphs of this fic below the cut:

The noble Sir Link Fedney Navbarcs the Second hid deep in the perfectly trimmed rose bush hedge maze in the Hyrule Castle gardens. There would be no guards searching for him, he knew, but he would not be so foolish as to sneak away from the lavish party in broad view of its high class attendees. To do so would disrespect the very crown he risked life and limb to save no less than a year ago, and while he was many things, he was not so foolish as to dare imply anything of the sort. He attended the party gracefully, made his rounds of polite greetings at as leisurely a pace as he could manage, and slipped out to the balcony as the chat and music settled into its usual rhythm. The maze was only a short distance away, and as he ducked between rows of flowering bushes with hardly a thought given to the path he took, he could still hear the muffled notes drifting across the gardens from the ballroom.

He slowed his silent steps as he approached the central gazebo of the hedge maze, not terribly surprised to find another had escaped to its safety before he had. They wore a deep maroon colored suit, black embroidery tastefully decorating the cuffs and lapel. Their hair was pulled up in a small yet elegant bun, revealing the shaved underside of their head. But perhaps the most striking part of their appearance was the scar that stretched from their chin to their cheek, cutting over their lips, which parted into a grin as he was spotted. “Two! There you are!"

The noble Sir Link Fedney Navbarcs the Fourth held perhaps the worst reputation among the gossipers of the court. Unlike his brothers, he had no qualms in disrespecting those deemed worthy of such treatment, and gave no entertainment to frivolities of the court. Frivolities which included balls such as the one hosted this evening. The reason for such brazen disregard to formalities was unknown to Two, though he had a few ideas as to why his brother might behave in such a way. But regardless of how he behaved towards the court, there was nothing but fierce kindness and loyalty toward those he cared about.

Fae clans have many holidays and rituals, but solstices are by far the most celebrated. Solstices mark the pivotal event that shifts the seasonal responsibilities between the sun and moon clans. The summer and winter solstice are always the biggest events of the year, with about a week of festivities leading up to the final event. 

Sweat ran down your spine as the sun beat down on you. You’ve been holding up a stupid banner for what felt like an eternity.

“Okay wait, you’re gonna hate me but I think we should put it back to where we originally had it,” Sunghoon said with furrowed brows.

“That’s it. We’ve been doing this all morning. Figure this out yourself,” you angrily threw down the banner and stormed off before Sunghoon had the chance to yell at you.

You ignored the friendly calls from other fae that were setting up decor nearby. It was way past your bedtime. Cranky and drenched in sweat, you were definitely not a happy night fairy. Heading straight to the pond, you derobed and found comfort in the cool waters that  washed away your stress instantly. You gazed up at the blue sky while floating on your back. The day truly was beautiful, you couldn’t deny that. However, nighttime was better in your very much biased opinion. The dark sky littered with countless stars that glittered like diamonds was an unbeatable sight. 

“Hey there sunshine!” a familiar voice interrupted your thoughts. You dipped back into the water and turned to the source of the sound.

“Hey there, perv. Care to join me?” you beckoned.

“I wish I could, but I need to go finalize some plans for the handoff ceremony--”

“It’s the same EVERY year. C’mon Hobi, you don’t need to go,” you whined.

“I’ll meet you back here at sunset, how does that sound?” he tried to appease you.

“Midnight. I’m already exhausted, I don’t wanna wake up early,” you blew raspberries into the pond.

“That’s fair. I’ll see you then okay?” Hoseok waved before flying off.

On top of parties filled with indulgences that would blow the mind of any feeble human, Hoseok was the added bonus that made you eager for each solstice. Admittedly, you two have had some sort of flirtationship going on for the past few centuries. Your friends always teased you about how madly head over heels you were for him. As much as you wanted to believe that he loved you in the same way, something always felt off.  

Hoseok always reciprocated your flirtatious advances, but it felt more like a game between friends rather than something substantial. You’ve even observed his interactions with other fairies, and it didn’t seem like he gave you any special treatment. He was simply a good friendly guy that everyone loved, but not the way that you loved him. 

You were dying to know how he truly felt about you. All these years of playful banter had been fun, but they had also been simultaneously eating away at you. There’s no way he doesn’t know that you love him. At the same time, what if he thinks you’re just a good friend? You needed to know for sure, and you intended to confront him about it at midnight.

“Good evening,” you greeted Hoseok shyly as you approached the pond’s bank. 

“Good day to you sunshine,” Hoseok called back as he kicked at the water.

“How’d the meeting go?” you asked.

“Boring as always. You’re right, it’s the same every year. But the elders still want to go over everything again to ensure that the ceremony is perfect,” Hoseok sighed.

“Thanks for coming to hangout with me even though you’re so busy,” you said, suddenly feeling guilty.

“Are you kidding? I’ve been looking forward to this all day! You’re the perfect person to unwind with after a long day,” Hoseok smiled. There it was. The radiant smile you fell for the first time you ever met him. 

“You sure I’m the perfect person for that? What do you do when you’re back in your own land surrounded by other day fae?” you prodded, hoping to steer the conversation onto the ‘what are we’ topic. 

“I have my friends there for sure, and I appreciate them too. But it’s different with you. Maybe because I can only hangout with you twice a year. You’re like my super special friend, yaknow?” Hoseok tried to explain. 

“Uh yeah, for sure. Like a special playdate kind of thing huh?” you tried to hide your hurt feelings.

“Exactly! You get it. It’s like you’re my favorite dessert that I can only have twice a year,” Hoseok nodded.

“Right…” you whispered softly to yourself. You spent the rest of the night listening to the unfruitful discussions Hoseok had during his meetings. All the excitement over the festival had drained from you. Now, you just wanted it to be over so you can go sulk in peace. 

“You’re awfully quiet,” Hoseok observed, “You haven’t interjected once about how stupid our traditions are or how you’re looking forward to having long nights again.”

“Hm? Oh yeah, I’m just tired. Sunghoon really worked me to the bone yesterday, that damn day fairy,” you faked a yawn.

“Hey, be nice! Wasn’t it you who volunteered to help us anyway?” Hoseok shook his head.

‘Yeah, because I thought I’d be able to work with you,’ you thought.

“It was a bizarre streak of altruism, that’s all,” you shrugged. 

“Nah, I know you’re a kind fairy deep down!” Hoseok playfully nudged your shoulder. Normally you would welcome this type of physical affection, but for right now it served as a painful reminder that you were merely seen as a buddy. 

You actively avoided Hoseok for the remainder of the week, counting down the hours to when it would finally all be over. You made up some lame excuse to not hangout with Hoseok every time he approached you. He must have caught on by the final day, either that or he was extremely busy. Afterall, he was the MC for the entire ordeal. 

Apparently, your abrasive reputation preceded you because no one wanted your help with anything. As soon as they saw you coming, they would randomly find themselves very preoccupied with something that made them too busy to talk to you. The only person who would put you to work was Sunghoon, who was one of Hoseok’s best friends. You wondered why he was always so nice to you even when you complained the entire time you helped him.

“That’s the last table! They all look great, thanks for helping with the set up,” Sunghoon gave you a thumbs up.

“You know it’s pointless setting up all these tables. Most of the fairies are just gonna be dancing or fucking all night long, no one is gonna be sitting down,” you said.

“Are you gonna be one of the fairies partying?” Sunghoon inquired.

“Definitely not,” you answered curtly.

“Then I’m happy at least one of these tables will be utilized,” Sunghoon nodded, “Try to enjoy yourself tonight okay?”

“Whatever,” you rolled your eyes.

The entire forest seemed to come alive that night. The trees swayed with the enchanting music while cheers of merriment erupted around the party scene. You sat alone at a mushroom table with your third (or was it fourth?) cup of berry wine. You glared at the fairies who had lost themselves to their pleasures, whether it be the wine or the toadstools, or perhaps even both. Fairies who had given into their more lustful urges could be seen on the outskirts of the dance floor, some in the innocent stages of kissing and others entangled full fledged fornication. Scoffing at the obscene orgy, you stumbled off to get another cup of wine. Even though you weren’t really participating, you had to admit that fairies knew how to throw a party. 

“Hey ___, I noticed you’ve been by yourself the whole evening. Want some company?” someone asked behind you as you filled up your mug to the brim. You turned to see two Sunghoons merge to become one hazy Sunghoon in the blink of an eye. 

“F-ffuck off Sunghoon,” you slurred.

“I wanted to thank you for all the hard work you did for this year’s summer solstice,” Sunghoon continued, unfazed by your harshness, “Wanna dance to celebrate?”

“Nope,” you answered as you pushed him aside.

“Yeah she seemed pretty pissed dude,” Sunghoon said while taking a large swig.

“At you or in general?” Hoseok inquired.

“Dunno man, she’s always been like that. However, she seemed more aggravated than usual, which is hard to imagine,” Sunghoon chuckled, “Did you do something to her?”

“No! I’ve been replaying everything we talked about at the pond but everything seemed fine! I even told her that she was my super special friend and---oh shit,” Hoseok’s face fell.

“Idiot,” Sunghoon tsked. 

Both fae clans had gathered by the main stage, intently listening to the same speeches that the clan leaders have spoken for centuries. You watched apathetically as the everlasting flame was being formally handed over. The crowd roared as the flame changed from a deep crimson red to an icy silver color with a blue hue, signifying that the solstice had come to pass. 

If the festival wasn’t wild before, it had only gotten more out of hand after the official ceremony. Seeing the other fairies go wild in every sense of the word made you nauseous. The noise level intensified as you watched your fairy brethren engage in rather promiscuous activities. Someone even beckoned for you to join in the fun, but you just walked away. The only person you wanted to have that kind of fun with was Hoseok. It infuriated you that your thoughts always drifted to him. You filled up your cup one last time and walked away from the ruckus, towards an empty grove. Hopefully you would be able to wallow in self pity in peace there. 

The stars twinkled above you, and dim moonlight speckled the ground around you as it shone through the trees. You could still hear the party, but it was much fainter now and served as nice background noise to keep you from drowning in your thoughts. With a deep exhale, you fought to hold back tears. You felt so foolish. Too many years have been wasted in vain for an unrequited love that you should have seen coming. It was so stupid of you to hold onto a sliver of hope that Hoseok would like you back. 

“The party is that way,” a familiar voice called out to you.

“Then why aren’t you there?” you didn’t try to mask the annoyance in your voice.

“I saw you walk away, I wanted to check up on you.”

“Why the fuck would you even care?” you sat up and hissed.

“Why are you being so hostile? You’re the one who has been avoiding me all week!” Hoseok raised his voice.

“I’m sure you didn’t have much time to spend with me anyway,” you huffed.

“That’s not true. I spent every moment of my free time looking for you, only for you to turn me away. Can you tell me what’s wrong?” Hoseok calmed down.

“Fine. I’m in love with you, okay? How fucking embarrassing. It hurt when you said that I was your super best friend or whatever. Seeing you afterward just reminded me of how dumb I am,” you couldn’t make eye contact with him.

“Oh sunshine, I’m the idiot. I shouldn’t have said that. You’re my special friend because I like you too. I wanted to spend every second with you this week. I didn’t mean to hurt you like that, I’m so sorry ____,” Hoseok got down on his knees and pulled you in for a hug. You were stunned.

“Why didn’t you say anything sooner then!” you pushed him off.

“I thought it was obvious from the way we flirted!” he argued. 

“You’re nice to everyone, it was hard for me to tell,” you pouted.

“My apologies for not being a sourpuss like you,” Hoseok laughed.

“So...what now? It wasn’t really a romantic confession but I guess our feelings are out in the open now,” you whispered as you leaned against him.

Suddenly, Hoseok pushed you back to the ground, straddling your hips. His dark hair nearly covered his eyes as he looked down at you. He was beyond beautiful, his white iridescent wings glittered ethereally in the moonlight. 

“Remember when I said you’re like a dessert I can only have twice a year? I’d like to make that a reality,” Hobi smirked. He bent over to kiss you. It was soft at first, his plush lips pressing up against yours. He gently cupped your face with one hand while the other wandered to your chest, undoing your blouse. Lust overtook the both of you as the kiss deepened and Hoseok fondled your breasts. You let out a small gasp as he played with your nipples, rolling them between his fingers.

“If it makes you feel any better, you’re my sunshine,” you hugged him.

“That makes me feel great. I’ll do my best to see you more than twice a year, okay?” he kissed your forehead.

“I guess I can clear my schedule and come over to visit you too,” you giggled, “Or maybe we can run away and make a clan of our own.”

“Are you serious?” he asked, “Don’t tempt me. I’d love to go somewhere where no one knows my name or expects anything from me.”

“How about we go to where the day meets the night?” you offered.

“Like what? An eclipse?” Hoseok said as he gazed into the night sky.

“Precisely. We can make an eclipse clan. We only have to do festivals for eclipses, and those are kinda rare,” you giggled.

“Sounds like a good dream, sunshine. Let’s seriously discuss it in the morning when we’re both more sober,” Hoseok kissed your forehead.

“Goodnight, my sunshine,” you whispered into his chest.

I had a sudden thought. So I haven’t had my period in over a year (yay IUD). But I had the absolute worst mood swings and the first 3 days the cramps would be so bad I had to have some sort of heat pad. I hated not being able to have a bath.

And so you’re crying and trying to hide from him cause you feel so bad and blubbering all “get away from me I suck im sorry I’m such an awful person oh no” but he’s there tugging your arms away from your face and wiping your tears like “no no no it’s okay you’re okay I didn’t meant it like that— 🥺”

And then you turn to him with a tear streaked face and go “well fuck you then for making me feel like shit!!” And I definitely think he would discover you had a pretty colorful mouth at this point.

But my god he’s just confused now cause what did he say?? It doesn’t really matter cause now you won’t talk to him and you’re still crying a little but your stomach rumbles so he just gets up make you some food cause he knows you’re not actually angry at him 🤷🏼‍♂��

And then while you’re eating you’d mellow out a bit, even laugh at something on the tv. But after you finish you’d get kinda sad and grumpy again cause wtf you’ve been hopping from bed to couch back to bed for two days now and you’re getting real sick of it and there’s barely anything to watch anymore and you want a bath and the mf cramps are hitting again—

And when he sees that I think he’d take your food and set it out of the way so you can curl up with your heating pad, and he’d sit on the edge of the bed and stroke your hair for a while until the worst ones pass, yaknow the ones where it’s like if anything touches you you might combust.

And a few minutes in I think you’ll be so miserable that you don’t even care how pathetic it is to ask him to lie with you, you’ll just mumble like “can you come here please” and he’ll know thats code for “come hold me or I might die” so he gets on the bed with you and probably has you sit in between his legs so he can hold the heating pad to your stomach and rub it up and down and whisper soothing things in your ear as you tense up in his arms and ride out the cramps.

He hates seeing you that way, especially when there’s not much he can do but hold you and maybe use a little bit of the force to take some pain away but it’s not enough, or at least he thinks so.

But for you, it’s nice just to have him here because he’s saying things like “you’re okay, I’m here, I’ve got you..” and “I’m sorry, I know it hurts, it’ll be over soon” and “it’s okay you can squeeze my hand— ow okay, other hand”.

And he’s also trying to distract you, his hands on your arm rubbing circles into your skin, his lips by your neck tickling it as he talks to you, maybe holding a holopad in front of you and playing a stupid game with you.

But if it hurts too bad and you just curl up in his arms and bury your face in his chest he’ll settle for rubbing your back and holding you gently and resting his head on top of your hair as you shiver through the pain.

And you might say something like “fuck me fuck me fuck me this is so unfair” he’ll be like “I know I know I’m sorry” or “fuck you you suck” he’s like “yeah yeah I know” or “this is awful I hate everything” “it’ll get better soon I promise”

BASICALLY he takes everything in swing. Kind of absorbs all your nasty words if you’re in that mood, wipes your tears when you’re crying, and also feels really bad the whole because I will die by this— Anakin is the biggest sucker for tears. And he’ll wait on you hand and foot, get you anything you need, carry you from bed to couch to anywhere else you might want to go, holds you when you want him and watches you sleep when you don’t, etc.

And secretly you feel bad for being sort of a nightmare to deal with but you’re really trying to be nice, it’s just a shitty situation. So in the quiet moments you’ll be like “I’m sorry for all this” but he’ll just hush you and be like “I’m just happy I get to spend time with you 🥰”.

Which is like— 🥺 bro stop.

On the flip side I think at one point he might get annoyed at you, crying and complaining that everything sucks and you wanna rip your organs out and “go away I wanna be miserable in peace maybe I should just succumb to the pain—“

You’ll throw your heating pad to the floor, but he’ll come barging in like “stop that, you need this” and try to put it back on you, but you’re just shoving it away and burying yourself under the covers like “no I’m sick of this lemme die” and he’s like “don’t be such a baby, put it back on” “go AWAY” “not until you put it on” “I DONT WANT IT ANYMORE 👹” “you’re hurting I can feel it” “ANAKIN MF I WILL PUNCH YOU 👹👹👹” “come out here and do it then baby 🙄”

So you rip the covers off and he uses some fkcn twai con doe move (ignore the way I spelled that I’m illiterate) to pin you to the bed and strap the heating pad back onto you and then he’s wrangling your punching and kicking limbs to the bed all pissed off but worried like “😠KNOCK IT OFF you’re going to hurt yourself!!” And then another bad cramp hits you and you kind of deflate like “ow.. 🥺”. And he’s like “I told you 😑 now come here.” And he takes you in his arms while you clutch at his robes and apologize.

Yeah u suck but he knows you can’t really help it so he tries to be patient and honestly, he’s good at it when he tries 🤷🏼‍♀️💖

[Three months after the Second Battle of Hoover Dam and the declaration of Vegas’s independance a young ‘news courier’ managed to orchestrate an interview with the local courier-turned-leader on the casino floor of the Lucky 38]

1. What is your name? Viva. Or Empress Vivianne if you wanna be fancy.

2. How old are you? [she rubs the back of her head] somewhere in the ‘thirty’ ballpark I’m guessing 

3. What do you look like? You have eyes don’t you? And yes the white hair is natural. No, I don’t really know why it’s like that. Apparently it’s some genetic condition. 

4. Where are you from? Where do you live now? I'm from the West. I've been told. [pause] Maybe. But as far as anyone’s concerned I might as well be a native Mojave-ian. Won't be leaving Vegas or, hell, even the Lucky 38 anytime soon.

5. What was your childhood like? I’m sure it was fine. I mean, I have no memory of it, but I’m sure it was /fine/ 

6. What groups are you friendly with? Are you allied with any factions? [she groans] As you can imagine politics are a bit uhh… tense at the moment, what with me kicking the NCR out of my city and all. Our current alliance consists of the Families, the Kings, Freesiders, the Boomers, and the Followers. Once we get our issues here sorted I'm extending my hand to all the independent settlements in the area and we’ll go from there

7. Tell me about your best friend. Which one exactly? ‘Cuz I have a few. Oh, I know, I can tell you about this guy [she points over her shoulder to a securitron with a static smiley on its screen] This is Yes Man, he’s my second in command. [the robot raises a clawed hand and gives a cheerful ‘howdy’] It's not that i couldn't manage coordinating a brand new, independent nation by myself, but he does make all the busywork and number running and security that much easier. And he yells at me if I forget to eat or sleep for a few nights [Viva proceeds to glare at the robot, its smile unchanging]

8. Do you have a family? Tell me about them!  [Viva glances away for a moment] My friends are my family. [pause] and even if we don't get along entirely, that's just how it is. I wouldn't trade any of those fuckwits for the world.

9. What about a partner or partners?  [she gives a single loud laugh] Do I look like I have time for shit like that? Especially now of all times?

10. Who are your enemies, and why?  I’d hazard a guess and say at this point everyone who’s not my explicit ally [Viva drums her fingers for a moment] Of course the NCR is going to pretend to be nice for now, but politics is like chess. Complex, and annoying and I hate it. Give me a year and i’ll be begging for the Legion and their blunt insanity

11. Have you ever heard of The Brotherhood of Steel? What do you think about them?  Oh I’ve heard of them alright. [she grumbles under her breath] Good people. Bad priorities though.

13. How do you feel about Super Mutants?  What you mean the ones up north? They're great and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I mean, yeah sure they're pretty scary to be around, especially if the nightkin get antsy, but they're decent people. Marcus is… Marcus is a good man.

14. What’s the craziest fight you’ve ever been in? I… [she trails off, thinking] There was… /is/ a man. Who knew me from before. Long before. He challenged me to face him in a grave of ash and… I consider the three weeks it took to track him though the pits of hell as one very, very long and very exhausting fight. [she pauses again] That and all the verbal sparring along the way. And… everything after, too. 

15. Have you ever fought a Deathclaw? I mean… I've shot Deathclaws. And they're about as pants-shittingly terrifying as they've always been. But that's what the .50 cal is for

16. Do you like fighting? [she grins] I like shooting, I’ll tell you that much 

17. What’s your weapon of choice? [Viva holds up her finger to pause and proceeds to heft up an Anti-material Rifle. It’s new with a faint silvery sheen, and only a little scuffed from use, the Gun Runners logo still visible on the side. It is custom made, with every possible attachment, some parts are black carbon fiber. There are three bands of color around the stock and several engravings including six letters -CALBVR] [Viva is gleefully beaming as she wordlessly shows off the gun] 

18. How do you survive? Your wits, your charm, your skills, brute force, some combination? (a.k.a. what’s your S.P.E.C.I.A.L?) You don't get to where I am without a bit of everything. But you could say my speciality is shooting, robotics, and outplaying people in the games they weave. [she tilts her head back and hums] Back when I was still just a mailman i knew how to hide in plain sight. Saved my life more often than not. That and brass knuckles. Very effective. Anything mechanical is child’s play too. Can't figure out how to cook geko without burning it though, so all the money I saved on gear i spent on food. [she rubs the back of her head and mutters through her teeth] and bandages. so. many. bandages. I swear the world really wants me dead and is having better luck at it than I am

19. Have you ever been in a vault? What do you think about them?  Plenty ‘round these parts. Can't say I'm fond of lurking around /in/ them but… Marvels of tech those things, shame most of them failed. There's actually one or two I want to strip for parts in the future. If I can get the wildlife out beforehand that is. 

20. How do you beat all the radiation around here? Has it affected you?  Radiation and I have a… complicated relationship. [she turns to the securitron and mutters something with a slight smirk. Suddenly the lights of the bottom floor wink out. Viva faces forward once more, her already unnaturally green eyes now glowing with a faint, sickly light. The lights flick on just as suddenly with a loud clack and the woman giggles] Honestly if I don't end up as a ghoul by the end of my life I will be /very/ surprised

21. What’s your favorite wasteland critter?  Do… Do the robots count? Because I'm going with the robots anyway.

22. What’s your least favorite wasteland critter?  I’d say it starts with death and ends with claw, but that's not right. At least with those fuckers I know where to aim, no, first place goes to cazadores, the best reason for carrying around a shotgun. 

23. How do you feel about robots? [she gestures to the dozens of securitrons surrounding them with a wide grin] Bliss, home, paradise and then some. 

24. How many caps do you have on you right now? I mean- [she rummages in her pockets] I don't have my bag with me. 23. I can't fit more into these pockets they're too full of specialty ammo.

25. Nuka Cola or Sunset Sarsaparilla?  Nuka. I fucking hate Sarsaparilla and I know it's blasphemy in these parts, but listen, if you're dehydrated and all you have to drink is that mind-meltingly awful shit i'm looking for the nearest cactus to suck on

26. Do you do chems?  Uh. [she rubs her neck and nervously bounces her leg] I mean. Mentats are uh. Pretty… pretty great. [she bites her lip] Next question?

27. Do you ever think about the Pre-War world?  It fascinates me. What a life they lead to have created tech of this calibre [she gestures to the casino once more] I keep on finding parts of the old world that shine though, all the good, all the awful, all the same, always there. [she thinks for a moment] Like the past isn't as distant as people want to believe. But maybe that's just me… I've had more run-ins with old world ghosts that you’d believe. And I don't mean my previous employer either.

28. What’s your deepest regret? What would you do differently?  [her expression darkens] [after a minute of silence she shakes her head] Can't change what was done. No point dwelling. 

29. What’s your biggest achievement? Or what do you hope to achieve? [she exchanges a look with the smiling securitron] Right now? We’re in step four. There's a lot of steps to go. [exhale] And every single step takes more effort than anyone realizes. Because a lot of people don't think. Don't think about food, don't think about water, don't think about safety, don't think about business, don't think about what's next. I have to. And it's hard yaknow? But I've done more than I could ever imagine. I dethroned House, I defeated the Legion, I defanged the NCR. That’s more than most can say…

30. What do you want for the future? For yourself? Your friends? The world? [she sinks into her seat] I didn't do all of this because I thought it’d be fun. [her expression darkens to a cold seriousness] Vegas is something else. Vegas and the Mojave. Everything that's happened here is that much more important than anyone realizes. This place is a crossing point. A bridge. Between the West and the East. And bridges can't belong to either side. I need to make sure it stays that way. I need to make sure this place, everyone who put their faith in me, /my/ people are safe. Are fed. Are… Vegas has to prosper as it stands and everything else’ll be sorted out in time. That's what I want. The Mojave to thrive. And so help me I haven't walked through storms of fire and death to let all of this fall apart. [she raises her eyes, a haunting look with a smile] So tell everyone who’s gonna be listening - I have the shadow of a nation behind me. Lucifer - Loves, Taxike and Lucifer have a powerful love, often called a love-hate relationship. Taxike loves pushing Lucifer's buttons and seeing his reactions, loves teasing him and making him flustered. His favorite thing to see is Lucifer's blushing face. They're both switches and take power play into the bedroom.

Mammon - Tolerates, they don't go out of their way to interact with each other, but they will recruit each other occaisionally for their plans.

Leviathan - Close/fwb, Taxike's other victim of teasing. He enjoys watching Levi squirm and is open to all of the things Levi wants to try out. He knows that Levi likes to be talked down to as much as he likes to be uplifted and gladly provides.

Satan - Friends, as some of the actual youngest, they often learn together the history that the other brothers went through together. Taxike struggles learning it all and often goes to Satan for help. Loves going to cat cafes with him and seeing his other sides. Often do homework together in and out of school.

Asmodeus - Close Friends, Utterly obsessed with each other and the flirtations between them are down right NASTY, but they never progress past talk and light touches. They love to exchange energies, but they honestly are not sexually interested in each other. Kindred Spirits of sorts.

Beelzebub - Close/fwb, Beel big. Tax like big.

Belphegor - Acquaintances, Taxike does not like Belphie, honestly, but he stays on friendly terms since he is Beel's twin. They don't interact much and try to keep it that way. Can occaisionally be found napping together, despite this.

Diavolo - Friends, Taxike had met Diavolo a few times leading up to the exchange. They text often but rarely get to meet. Taxike likes teaching him memes and showing him cursed images that he doesn't understand.

Barbatos - Tolerates, Taxike can smell the questionable intentions a mile away and does NOT trust Barbatos. He's cordial but does not seek out his time.

[With Angels]

Simeon - Close Friend, even in the Celestial realm they were friends, although this trip has definitely brought them closer. Taxike and Simeon are often together when in Purgatory Hall, reading or eating or existing in the same room. Taxike has always known that Simeon is the author of TSL and helps be a sounding board for ideas.

Luke - Friends, Taxike isn't particularly close to Luke and met him for the first time during the exchange. He likes Luke, don't get him wrong, but Taxike isn't exactly the type to hang out with children. He has to watch what he says closely when around the smaller angel. He does bake with him and is the in-house taste tester.

Michael - Tolerates, as the human liason Taxike did not actually spend much of his time in the Celestial Realm. He mostly communicated through text or email and had a very professional relationship with Michael. They have had casual phone calls about day to day life, but those were few and far in between.

[With Humans]

Solomon - Suspicious, Respects, Taxike is rather wary of the human. And a bit jealous. All of those demon pacts, plus he's a strong sorcerer on his own? Easily the most powerful human Taxike has ever encountered. They chat and Taxike can actually survive a few of his tamer meals, but he will still try to run away first. Occaisionally go to Ingredient Shops together.

Downloading Videos

make sure it’s the highest quality video you can get. 1080p is your friend. ok honestly, when i’ve giffed, i havent really noticed a difference in quality between 2k/4k and 1080p? maybe im doing it wrong but honestly the only thing ive noticed is that 2k/4k just slows down my computer drastically and takes up way too much space on a computer that already has like zero space to begin with. so i tend to stick with 1080p. 

Also! if you can get 60fps, thats also nice bc it helps your gifs look smoother.

yaknow how i said 1080p is your friend? well ts files are your best friends/family. if you can torrent them or download the, your gifs will look super pretty. i highly recommend this for live performance gifs. you can find ts files for a lot of shows, but again, since my computer has

kpop24hrs and kpopexciting are two places i go for those live perf ts files! kpop24hrs tends to have more i feel (it’s where i go when i want to gif my rookie groups that dont have too much attention on them)

you can also find torrents on twitter, if you search the right things

Extracting Videos

ok for this, if you have a pc (so like not a mac) i HIGHLY recommend looking into avisynth. there’s this tumblr account named brandinator who i’ve heard gives really awesome tips for avisynth and made it really easy for people to get avisnyth.if youre like me and your stuck with a mac, or if you just want to stick with photoshop then you can read the rest of this

i have photoshop cs5? so my tips are generally based around that. 

for youtube videos (so basically mp4/avi format) i use photoshop’s video extraction feature. file—>import–>video frames to layersif your photoshop is like mine for whatever reason and it doesnt want to recognize mp4 files, then what i do is changed the .mp4 extension to a .avi extension (and its super easy to do on mac….i dont have a pc so idk how different that is) the quality doesnt really change either with that simple changing of the ending it sorta just tricks photoshop i guess lol idunno

when youre on the ‘video frames to layers’ window, make sure you don’t hit the ‘limit to every _____ frames’ bc that makes it lose the smoothness quality of gifs. maybe back when the gif limit was like 1mb that would have been important, but we live in a world of luxury now. so for smoother looking gifs, make sure that box is unchecked. other ppl (pc users i think) tend to use other video extraction softwares. i cant remember the name, but all i remember is that for macs, that software cant extract frames so its useless for us. i think it was kmplayer? not sure. like you can download kmplayer on mac but it doesnt have the same features rip.for ts files, i use vlc player (since ps can’t open it) and sit there and capture each and every frame lol. 

Actually Giffing

here’s where things get a bit interpretive

(im assuming you know how to make a gif since you’ve asked for specific things like sharpening and stuff)

for coloring, 

ive found that not changing the lighting too much of the video youre giffing leads to higher quality stuff…but i also hate not changing the lighting too much which is why a lot of my gifs turn out grainy hahah (my coloring is really centered around how to make the person in the gifs look the most ‘natural’? so that usually involves trying to take out video filters). but yea the gifs in which i didnt change too much with coloring, tended to be my most high quality gifs. 

i don’t use other peoples psds and make my own everytime for each gif, and i only usually just adjust ‘curves’ and ‘exposure’ yea.

if there’s an ugly color background that you want to make look more white, when youre in ‘curve’s, go to each color (red green and blue) and drag the little line thing in the top right corner a little to the left. idk what is actually happening there and why it only really addresses the bg but thats a good way to try to make your bg whiter without actually whitewashing the gif. 

for sharpening

lol sharpening, my enemy. its what i struggle with the most

i use .4 at 500% for smart sharpen

and then for topaz i make sure clean color is at 0 first of all, and i mess around with ‘overall strength’ and ‘reduce blur’ until i get the quality that i wanted. i nvr go higher than .07 strength. 

but an important thing for sharpening i think is deciding when you want to crop the picture? do you crop it before or after the sharpening/topaz? i dunno honestly, but for me ive found that cropping first, and then applying sharpening settings leads to the highest quality (or maybe thats what im used to so it turns out better). 

oh yea i dont resize, i crop instead. i’m not sure if that does anything but when i was first starting i found that resizing made my gifs look more blurry…? and that cropping was nicer to my gifs? i’m not sure if that does anything though lol maybe cropping is worse who knows, but its something ive stuck with ever since ive started

save settings

i’ve recently switched over to diffusion! but sometimes that doenst work out so i use the pattern one. i play around with adaptive/selective to see which one looks better or takes up less space haha

last but not least: pray

i spend a lot of my time praying that my gif will come out good haha bc even if you think you did everything right, once you hit that ‘save for web’ button, it’ll look like the ugliest thing in the world it’s really frustrating. like even when i make a gifset from the same video using the same everything (coloring, sharpening, save settings) one gif will look like trash and the other one will be like the best thing ive ever giffed so its like?? pray
