My mother’s birthday is on Valentine’s Day. As a child she celebrated her birthday by making US feel special. A small box of candy hearts, a handmade note or just a giant hug. I am the 5th of 6 kids, so she had to get creative! When I became a mother, I carried on many of her traditions. While I love and adore my husband, Valentine’s Day has never been a romantic holiday for me, but rather a holiday about expressing your love for those nearest and dearest in whatever way you’re able. When my youngest was four years old, I found old school cinnamon hearts in little heart shaped boxes and wrote each of my youngest three kiddos a love note. That night I went to bed, this note from my sweet boy was waiting for me.
