Frank should still be at home trying to sleep. He hadn’t gotten much. After the meeting, he’d humored Alice and gone home, never mind that she’d been burned much much worse and been significantly more injured that Frank. If either of them had the right to demand the other sleep, it should be him. But Frank had humored her by leaving, though he hadn’t gone to bed. He’d still been awake when she got home, intent to convince her to sleep in the same bed with him for the first time in maybe a week. Instead he’d found her buzzing with energy. He couldn’t say he was shocked she’d confronted Theo, but how that conversation had gone surprised him. Alice didn’t quite seem to grasp how exciting the news he told her was either.
And now, far too few hours later after he has finally convinced her to come to bed, Frank was back again. He’d been too listless not to be, and since he was still technically on leave from his work injury until tomorrow, Frank hadn’t had anywhere else to go. It didn’t even occur to him that he was looking for Theo until he glanced into the infirmary and saw she wasn’t there. Good. That meant she’d been well enough to go home, and it wasn’t like she didn’t have a healer there to watch over her.
Without necessarily thinking about why, Frank headed back to the entry room and apparated to where he knew Theo and Evan lived. He stood outside for a moment before continuing to their door and knocking. He waited a few moments, then had a pang of sympathy cross his face when Theo opened it. He probably shouldn’t be the reason she was up and walking around.
“Hello,” he said. “I wanted to check in on you. Evan home?”

Wila waltzed through the door to Theo’s bedroom. She had decided that it was best to give Theo some space in the aftermath of the mission and the debrief, but she was done with space now. She had long learned to compartmentalize the knowledge that Theo had been a Death Eater at one point in time, and instead focused on the positives that came from that. That she knew how they worked, that she had experience that could be useful in Wila’s mission to avenge Sarai. However, she had never really opened up to Theo about that. Her vendetta was personal, and she didn’t share the full scale of what she was willing to do to make them pay for what happened to Sarai.
“I’ve brought chocolate and dinner from that Thai place that we like. I even got something for Evan for when he comes home later so you don’t need to worry about feeding him,” Wila placed the bag that she was carrying on the side table and glanced at Theo. “How are you feeling?” She questioned, sitting on the edge of Theo’s bed. She was under the impression that Theo was doing better, and hadn’t been that injured, so the dramatics were honestly a bit confusing, but Wila would never actually say that to Theo’s face.

Gwen knew part of the point of having an employee was being able to leave the shop in his hands, and even though it had been years now that Peter had been at her side, she still had to remind herself that she didn’t need a reason to leave the store if she was working. She could simply run some errands or even browse.
That’s how she’d ended up at the bookstore now, figuring she might pick up the newest Witch in Want of a Wand book. She’d heard this one finally featured the halfblood cousin, and while that was not the progress she was hoping for, it was what she would settle for in a broomtickler. The whole genre was rather traditionalist anyway.
Before making her way over to it, though, Gwen merely browsed the shelves. She stepped back to go around another witch before realizing she recognized the woman. “Fancy seeing you here,” she said to Theo, curious if the other would speak to her in public. Order or not, the woman was a Selwyn. Certain families tended to be as conservative as those broomticklers, and the Selwyns, for the most part, seemed to be one of them.

June 24th, 1984. Liverpool.
The wail of the amulets cut through the quiet afternoon like a sword. There was a split second of silence when the three of them exchanged looks, then — with a pop, Severus was on the other side of the house where Prewett and Selwyn were and where the signal was coming from.
Where’s Prewett, Severus thought, seeing the squadron of Death Eaters plow their way through the street, heedless of the attention they were getting from the gathering crowd. One of the masked figures stepped forward and sent a curse out flying towards a bystander — the muggle dropped on the spot and didn’t move. It didn’t take long for the crowd to descend into chaos, people running in every direction as the Death Eaters continued their march.
There was no time to find Prewett. They jumped into the fray without a second thought.

WHEN. august 31, 1967
WHERE. diagon alley
WHO. @theoselwyn
Alastor had been in Diagon Alley many a time over the last year or so, of course he had. He had business here, and he worked in this quarter of the city, a newly minted Auror, just a few years on the job. Today, however, he wasn’t here for any of that, not work nor personal means, but for his mother. Eleanor Moody was sick, very much so, and her only son was down in the Alley trying to get a hold of her medication.
Legally, if he was able to but, if push came to shove, he would find his way down to Knockturn and barter for it if need be.
Heaving a small sigh, Moody rolled up the list of ingredients he’d need for the healer’s recommended treatment and shoved it back up the sleeve of his robe. It was just a test, really, to see if anything stuck. Gorsemoor’s cure worked to a certain degree, but then Mami’s green was back and sparks started forming again as she sneezed. Alastor did not want to believe it was only a matter of time until -- well, until he had to help her draft up a will.
But, he wouldn’t just think of that while he was here. He couldn’t. He had other things on his mind, too, like that pretty little witch down in the foreign affairs office, or that bloody brilliant hitwizard he’d sat in with the other day. There was more to life than just sadness, and Alastor Moody was determined to forget his, once this task was done, for a little while.
A familiar face in the crowd, holding a little girl’s hand, made him pause. Perhaps, there was more to that thought than he’d realized. He called out, watching carefully to see if the other man turned, and grinned when he did.
He’d been right. It was his cousin, Edward Selwyn.
The only good one of the entire crop.

Evan & @theoselwyn 02 July, 1984 - Their flat, shortly after returning from the meeting
Evan seldom got mad. In truth, he had gotten so used to bottling up his emotions that the stoic expression he mastered from a young age felt like a permanent part of him. He kept quiet the entire meeting, fingers lightly gripping Theodosia’s in an attempt to keep himself grounded. It had worked for the most part but there was no stopping the outburst that accompanied spotting Hestia and excusing himself from Theo’s side.
He was practically seething by the time he and Theo got back to their flat. Deep breath in, deep breath out. It did little in calming him down past being able to keep the grimace that was desperate to take over his lips at bay. Silence once home wasn’t like him since he usually had some sort of comment or whine about wanting to get to bed. Evan gave a particularly dramatic sigh, then threw himself onto their couch. He squeezed his eyes shut and took one more deep breath. A slow release proved necessary before he could bring himself to speaking out loud.
“I can’t tell if I am over reacting or not,” He spoke after a moment of silence, leaning up on his elbows so he could glance at Theodosia from across the room. “Is asking for a hug too much to request on top of needing a listening ear?”

Definitely how asking @theoselwyn to properly move in went down but with a puppy for further begging/guilt tripping into it.

Evan & @theoselwyn July 15, 1984 - Rosier-Selwyn Flat
Evan’s getting home was accompanied by a groan that escaped the moment he set foot through the door. No other sounds besides his murmuring an incantation to ensure the protective spells on the flat were still in place. He let the door shut behind him and took his robe off, promptly allowing the satin tie around his neck to fall to the floor. It did little in easing his nerves but he was able to force out a single deep breath before a muffled sob escaped.
He dug his teeth into his lower lip to keep any other sounds from escaping, uninjured arm rising up to run his fingers through his hair. Having known it was coming was one thing, but he hadn’t expected it to leave him battling with a need to let all his feelings out or try to bottle it up. Evan claimed a space on the sofa. It felt as though there was a huge weight on his shoulders, leaving him hunched over with both palms over his eyes. His shoulders shaking would be the only other sign something was wrong. Well, that and his knowing Theo would be able to take one look at him and see through whatever mask he tried to pull up.
Evan remained on the sofa, not having it in him to go looking for Theo.

Evan & @wrongdeor (@asphodelroot & @theoselwyn referenced) June 24, 1984 - Infirmary roughly a minute and a half after Theo got brought in
Evan could handle chaos. It was part of his day job so handling injuries after the mission shouldn’t have felt nearly as exhausting as it did. Not even two full teams back and he was already dealing with one person in critical condition and the rest of the team having come back concussed or worst. He would owe a thank you to Emmeline later since she was doing a phenomenal job at going back and forth between people. She had better bedside manner than his own but he had the excuse of worrying about multiple people if it came to someone complaining to Hestia or Alastor. At the end of the day, he cared about no one dying more than being viewed as the friendly healer putting up with being sworn at, screamed at, or both.
He had been about to take a seat and catch his breath for a moment when Severus came in with someone, merely earning an arched brow and a groan before he shifted his attention from Lily to the two.
“Status update?” He asked, expression faltering upon realizing who the person Severus had laid out on the one empty cot was. “Fucking hell, shit-” Evan snapped his mouth shut to avoid saying anything more unintelligible than that, pinching the bridge of his nose before he spoke again. “Theodosia. We- Can I switch with you? I’ve got Lily and will update you once you update me.”

theoselwyn:
Theo couldn’t pinpoint when he’d became the most important person in her life. It had never started out that way. They were just supposed to friends with benefits. It was just supposed to be fun at school. It was never supposed to be anything serious. It had been that way for 2 years. But then she’d left Hogwarts too, and started feeling a little jealous when she’d known Evan was with other people. They hadn’t been official, she had no reason to be jealous. But she’d started to want to be the only person Evan was with. Something had changed, and it had changed her whole life. But she had no regrets, and she hoped Evan didn’t either.
She liked to think that she knew him. That she knew he would stick by her and the baby. But who knew how his father would influence him. She hadn’t really seen him, but her grandmother had gushed about how lovely the Rosier’s were, and how proud she was of Theo would bagging Evan. Of course, her grandmother did not truly know how the Rosier’s were. And Theo knew that Evan’s father was not going to be quiet about what was happening.
“Shush….” She murmured, shaking her head. They’d briefly had this conversation before, and it always went back and forth between them about deserving each other. And they really did not need to have that conversation right now.
Theo sighed, pushing herself up in the bed, so she was sitting up more, and was closer to him. “I just don’t want you to get hurt because of me….” She murmured, letting her hand come up, to caress his cheek gently. And she knew that his family, and maybe some of the others would go to the extremes to stop Theo’s tainted blood from tainting their blood line. She really did not want to Evan to get caught in the cross fire. But she knew that he wouldn’t stop. Evan was a good person, and she knew none of her pleas would stop him.
Theo sighed, biting on her lip, her hand still on his cheek as she looked at him. “You’re going to lose your sisters because of me…..” She paused for a minute, looking away. “You….. need to be okay with this. I don’t want you resenting me or our baby in 10 years because you lost your family…..”
⟢
It was a particularly reckless decision to agree to stick to Theo’s side. Reckless but one that wasn’t a spur of the moment decision. He wouldn’t go into detail on things, but the plan of escalating things to the point of risking being disowned wasn’t a new one. Evan had been in the habit of using his own money instead of taking from the vault that his parents provided for a few months now, going as far as having replaced what he spent over the year before making the shift.
He was on the path to becoming a renowned healer so money wasn’t going to be an issue. There was merely the matter of having a bigoted father and a mother that supported the family’s patriarch. Stating he had plans to marry the halfblooded he was in a serious relationship with would end up being the equivalent of asking his father to kill him. Evan could only hope that tacking a pregnancy into the mix would not lead to one or both of them getting losing their lives over it.
“Make me,” Evan smirked. “Can I clean your face up a little before we escalate to that though?” He added with a shake of his head. “You look rough, love and it’s not in a way I can appreciate.” Evan shrugged when Theo spoke again, keeping quiet since the almost immediate response was his being tempted to say not to worry about it. He leaned into her touch and closed his eyes, taking a few breaths while gathering his thoughts before looking up at her.
“I have more than enough reasons why things could escalate to my father wanting to harm me,” He admitted with a bitter chuckle and gestured at the infirmary. “With this being the main one. I’m certain saving Evans could be considered more treasonous than getting you pregnant.” His sisters being referenced earned a brief silence and the slightest of frowns. Each sister served as one of the three things that had the ring he picked out living in the same drawer as the some of his baking equipment.
A little presumptuous, but the belief that she wouldn’t go into the drawer had proven to be right so far. He would have admitted to having his mind set for a while but that was something that could wait. There was too many things to process to throw an explanation in. “Losing family to make one of my own,” Evan pressed his lips together to keep from frowning. “Or keeping family to lose you and resent myself for letting both of you go.” They were poor options either way but his mind was mostly made up with the exception of not appreciating the urgency of the matter. “Not an easy choice but I… My mind is set on you.”

This little girl - Theodosia - looked like a perfect little version of her mum and da. Alastor could tell she was a bit odd, too, in that way that Edward was, where he didn't give two shites about the family or what they thought. She would be all the better for it as she got older.
Some people might have taken offense at a child calling their name strange, but Alastor only grins and laughs. He nods his head and says, "Aye. I s'pose it is. Yours is prettier though, I think." He wondered if people spoke to her like this or if they just ignored her, like most purebloods did. Then again, Theodosia wasn't a pureblood, was she?
"Oh, really? What book? I might’ve read it. I love to read. It's one of my most favorite things, besides Quidditch. D'ye think you'll play Quidditch when your older?"
He was curious to know what book she wanted so badly that she'd had to wait to get it. Edward was rather doting, last Alastor knew, so it must be very important to her.
madeyed-andmoody:
Perhaps he looked a bit mad, grinning like a loon, but it had been a long while since he and Edward had seen one another. They had joked, once, that Moody’s paved the way for Edward when he was just a wee little lad of six, disowned because of his da. He hadn’t done anything, never really seemed to care if he had, but Eddie had made the choice to, so it was something that had bound them up together in the eyes of that side of the family.
To be frank, Alastor didn’t care one troll bollocks whether they liked him or not. Oh, he saw them, from time to time, on duty or off it. He never said hello, nor even acknowledged their existence. That was the way his world worked, and he was alright with that.
But, when Edward stopped and turned and grinned back, Moody came closer and clapped him heartily on the biceps, a little laugh escaping. “Look at you, old man, all grown.” Glancing down at the voice that had called Edward ‘daddy’ he realized this was Ed’s daughter, and his grin softened. Alastor stooped down a bit to be on the girl’s level, reaching out a hand for her to take.
“I’m sorry, little love. Should’ve remembered my manners. ‘m a friend of your da’s. You can call me Alastor.” When she said, rather excitedly, that it was her birthday, Alastor’s brows jumped and he gave a delighted little gasp. “Oh, well, and a very happy birthday to you, then, isn’t it? Your da takin’ you somewhere special, or is he just dragging you about?” Leaning in, almost conspiratorially, Alastor whispered, “Are you exited to go to Hogwarts? What’s something you want, hm? A gift, for your birthday?”
Yes, this was exactly the kind of distraction he’d needed.
—-
Theo was used to her father talking to people when they went shopping or were in Diagon Alley. He was an important man at the ministry. Or so that was what he told her when she asked why he was working so much. She would have much preferred that he was at home and spending time at her. But, he brought her lots of pretty things, so she could let it slid. And she supposed when they did spend time together, they did have a good time. Theo loved her daddy, and would take any and all opportunities to spend time with him.
She hadn’t seen this particular man before. Or maybe she had? She wasn’t sure. But she wasn’t very good at keeping an eye on her dad’s friends. They were mostly boring after all. But, this man seemed okay. And he was talking to her too, so that as cool. Most of her father’s friends just ignroed her.
“Oh. Hi Alastor. Your name is strange. Like mine.” She mused, a little smile on her face. Of course, Theo felt that the fact that she had a weird name allowed her comment on someone else’s, regardless of the fact that it was a little rude. But Theo was cute, and it mostly made up for her mouth. “We’re going to get some last minute stuff for school.” Since it would not be them if they weren’t a little last minute.
“There’s this new book I want.” She murmured, a big smile on her face. “Daddy said I had to wait till my birthday to get it.” And so she was very excited to go and pick it up later.

theoselwyn:
Theodosia had never felt insecure about their relationship. Even when deep down she knew the pureblood world would never accept them. She’d never felt like it was at risk. Evan never made her feel any less than he was because of her blood status. And even if she had been a pureblood, she wouldn’t have been as good as a Rosier. Really, one could say she was doomed from the start. But Evan never made her feel that way, and it was one of the many reasons why she irrevocably loved him.
She trusted him, and knew that his spells were probably right. He was good at his job. She knew that. But she knew it would be good to get it officially checked out. And she wanted to make sure that the baby was okay. She’d not known for 12 weeks, and she’d been doing all sorts. She felt a little guilty that she hadn’t even noticed.
“What did I do to deserve you…..” She murmured, her voice quiet as she looked at him. She asked that question a lot. There was no denying that Evan was a better person that she was. And secretly she was just glad that he was going to stay at her side. It wasn’t going to be easy though. She knew that. Despite the fact that Theo would have walked away in a heartbeat if this wasn’t what he wanted, she knew people would say she was trapping him somehow.
“I love you….” She murmured, a little smile on her face as she looked at him. She did. Of everything in her life, it was one of the only things that she was so sure of. In the last decade so many things had changed, and her life had flipped so many times. But, her love of Evan had always been there. And she could not see it changing any time soon.
“You know….” She murmured, after being quiet for a few moments. “It’s not going to only be your parents that don’t like this.” She bit her lip, clearly not being comfortable with that. “They are going to say I’m trapping you.”
⟢
Evan hadn’t known what he was first getting into when their dalliance began. That much was obvious given how friends with benefits took a more serious turn. He hadn’t complained back at Hogwarts and had no complaints at present. Well, the only one being ‘fucking hell, this isn’t going to end well,’ but there was no singling one of them out as the one to blame since they were at equal fault for having forgotten the potion. There was merely the matter of acknowledging his parents would find a way to make sure Theo was 100% to blame even though that technically wasn’t the case.
The idea of sticking up to his father was a downright terrifying one. Memories of the last time he tried had been enough to make sure he toed the line in Hogwarts and set a good example for his siblings up until moving into his own place. Damaging at age twelve and the punishment having been bad enough to leave a lasting impression that left him careful about what he said around his father. It would have to be done though. Unless he wanted to risk losing the one person that had been consistently at his side for the past decade.
It was a double edged sword with one end meaning losing Theodosia and the baby and the other meaning losing his immediate family - more importantly, his sisters. No easy way out of things and both outcomes feeling undesirable. He couldn’t shake the gut feeling of not wanting to doom their kid to not knowing him.
“I could ask the same thing,” He hadn’t meant to chuckle but one escaped anyway. Too much time spent putting up with his antics and whims — anyone else besides Theo, and he was certain they would have left him before things had taken the serious turn of agreeing to date each other.
“I love you too,” Evan offered a small smile. He was tempted to apologize for throwing her into the situation that was bound to come from whatever they decided on as a next step. It was like she had read his mind. Under happier terms, he would have joked about her doing a good job at keeping him.
“I am aware,” He murmured. “And they can talk. That’s something I’m not worried about. Salazar forbid any of them take it as an open invitation to lay a finger on you though…” He knew Theodosia was perfectly capable of taking care of herself but there was still the worry of his family going to extremes. “I won’t allow them to.”
