My Favorite of Theodora Taylor's Heroes
Putting together this list, I realize I have a type when it comes to Theodora Taylor's main male characters, and it's silent and deadly.
Hak-kan "Phantom" Zhang from Phantom: Her Ruthless Fiancé – Phantom will forever and always be at the top of my favorite list because of the way he fulfilled Olivia's birthday wish. That man asked her how many and, despite her skepticism, more than followed through. I also love that he decided that they would be the type of couple that talked shit out (because he wasn't having any type of misunderstanding between them like he witnessed with Victor and Han and their wives, Dawn and Jazz).
Stanley "Stone" Ferraro Jr. from Stone: Her Ruthless Enforcer – Stone, for real, did everything that Naima asked of him, other than going away and dancing that one time. Who doesn't love a man that knows how to listen and follow direction. Plus he only had eyes for Naima. Not even Amber and her Tyra Banks beauty could draw his attention when Naima was in the room. And his speech to her towards the end of their book was ace.
Nikolai Rustanov from Nikolai: Her Rustanov Surrender – Nikolai has always been my favorite Rustanov hero because he's the least abrasive (I think that's the term I want to use) of his cousins. What put him at the top of my overall favorite list was how he went to Pavel (his nephew) for advice about his relationship with Sam. I thought that was cute. And I love how sweet he was with Back Up even though he thought she was a "useless dog".
Tetsuro "Suro" Nakamura from His Enduring Love – Suro saw how TT's other heroes were taking care of their partners and said, I can do better. Talk about unburdening a woman (while also encroaching on her space cause let's not forget he did move himself into her apartment lol). He got her a security guard, a maintenance man and a nanny, and then went and annihilated the man (and his gang) who'd put a hit out on her. Is it a wonder that he made the top of the list?
Who are your favorite TT heroes?

Phantom by Theodora Taylor
5 stars
audiobook
Who would have thought that Phantom would be the one who crushed my heart? This was an open and frank relationship with these two, and even with all that, factors cause them problems, some within their control, and some not. But when these two are together, it is simply too magical for it not to an HEA perfection <3

May Reading Wrap-up
I read 28 books in May. I think. Goodreads is being wonky with my re-reads so it may be more like 29 or 30.
Of those 28 - 30 books, 7 were comic books or graphic novels. Benji Nate's Lorna and the Magical Beatdown zines by Jenn Woodall really stood out. I love Benji Nate's weird, weird, weird sense of humor.
May was really the month of re-reading. I re-read 8 Theodora Taylor books! I just can't quit her. From a recommendation in her newsletter, I also picked up a couple of Tiffany Patterson books that were pretty ok, a little repetitive in terms of plot and characters.
Another re-read was the Dream Team series by Kristen Ashley. I liked it better the second time around. Maybe because my expectations were lower?
Also re-read most of the Travises series by Lisa Kleypas. I wish she would write more contemporaries.
And I finally finished the Liz Danger series by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer! While it reaches neither the comedic or romantic heights of Agnes and the Hitman, the three books in the series were still enjoyable, funny, and featured a pretty decent romance. Plus, some plot twists I did not see coming. I'm pretty excited that Crusie and Mayer are writing again. Their next series is out later in June!

Theodora Taylor's Hades
Woman Being Held Captive By Man: Hey, want to take my virginity?
Man Holding Woman Captive: Hell yeah.
*sex happens that is surprisingly gentle and tender and the woman has multiple orgasms before penetration*
Man Holding Woman Captive: *enjoying the after-glow*
Man Holding Woman Captive: *shocked when woman holds gun to his head and pulls trigger of what she didn't know was an unloaded gun*
Man Holding Woman Captive: *emotionally distraught that woman doesn't love him*
Man Holding Woman Captive: *celibate for three years because his dick no longer works for anyone but the woman he's holding captive*
Woman Being Held Captive By Man: *points gun at him but doesn't pull the trigger*
Man Holding Woman Captive: OMG, you couldn't shoot me, you must love me!
Woman Being Held Captive By Man: Maybe I do, but it's just Stockholm Syndrome!

So I have laugh that at some point the Theodora Taylor series of werewolves books:
1-. that start with one where a time traveling Viking turns to be the fated mate of a 2000s woman.
2-. eventually has a running joke of at least one character going “not godamned Vikings again!” 😂

Book Review: His Enduring Love
~ Warning! Minor Spoilers! Book Review: His Enduring Love/ Her Perfect Gift (50 Loving States #5, Illinois) by – Theodora Taylor {2012} ~ REVIEW I read His Revenge Baby in 2019 and loved it. I rated it a 4.8 out of 5. I’ve always wanted to read more from this author, especially the book about the brother of the main characters from His Revenge Baby. Randomly, I recently looked up the book,…

If anyone here likes contemporary romance, Theodora Taylor has written a few bully romances that I actually liked.
Mostly I stay away from bully storylines for the exact reasons you specify but I have a soft spot for Taylor so I have read most of her books.
You also have to like completely over the top drama. Taylor never met a secret baby/ amnesia victim/ virgin heroine/ billionaires who are also assassins for the Mafia, etc., plot that she didn't fully embrace.
Anyway, I recommend Ruthless Bully and Keane: Her Ruthless Ex.
I've seen a lot of bully romances recommended lately. Do you have recs on where I should start?
I don't really have recs because I'm not much of a fan of bully romances. Like that is where I draw a line in terms of a power imbalance between the couple because it's like, one person just fundamentally disrespects the other and specifically looks DOWN on them (which is different from when they're enemies imo) and you expect me to be rooting for them to end up together? And bully romances in my limited experience tend to be either wildly childish or super dark in that way I don't enjoy (a lot of suffering for the sake of suffering like dark romances are).

Her Irish Wolves
Okay, okay, I’ll admit it—I’m the worst Wolfennite ever. I’m not truly one of the devout, bonneted brides who traveled to my sister’s wedding in Scotland hoping to find a pious mate in her adopted kingdom pack. Honestly, I only signed up for the free plane ticket and a place to lay low until I could sneak off and start the academic life I’ve been secretly planning for years. But my nerdy new life plans are shattered when I—along with all the other potential Wolfennite brides—get kidnapped by our Scottish hosts’ oldest and bitterest enemies: the Irish Wolves. These ruthless (and super not pious) wolves are led by two Irish kings whose real names no one is allowed to know. The Wild King acts like an animal, sniffing at me and whispering filthy things every time we meet. The Sea King is covered in Viking tattoos—and clearly hiding something behind his unfairly devastating smile. Neither of them care that they’ve snatched me from the life I had planned. According to them, I’m their prophesied queen, destined to unite the three Irish kingdoms. Wait, did they say three??? Look, I might not be devout, but I’m completely innocent. So, you won’t believe what happens when I meet the third Irish King… Her Irish Wolves is a knotty 5-fire-emoji heat-level, why choose romance. Warning: This scorching hot romance contains… Ruthless kidnapping of sheltered, innocent brides Dubious heat consent Seven Brides for Seven Brothers energy Lots and lots of deflowering A City King who’s reluctant to share (and will have to be mercilessly convinced) A secret kingdom you’ll wish you could visit The kind of spice scenes you’ll be embarrassed to tell your friends about — Release Date: October 23, 2024 via the Ruthless Readers Book Store and October 30, 2024 via Amazon, etc.
Character Profiles: Naomi Hamilton + Sea King + Wild King + Dublin King

Hades by Theodora Taylor
Theodora Taylor wrote the dark romance of my dreams! Galen "Hades" Fairgood and Stephanie "Persy" Perreault are my new OTP.
On college student Stephanie's 21st birthday, her father drugs her and delivers her to 26 year old biker gang leader Hades, who'd given him a choice between dying for his role in the murder of Hades's mother or giving him his daughter. Stephanie wakes up to find that she now has "Property of Hades" tattoo'd on her back
Their second book "Hades: Stephanie and the Ruthless Mogul" opens with Stephanie in the hospital after an accident. She has amnesia and doesn't remember the last nine years of her life. Her only memory of Galen is the gorgeous boy she saw once when she was sixteen. She's thrilled when he tells her that they're married. She enjoys what she calls her 'Black Barbie dream life' where she lives in a mansion with her gorgeous real estate tycoon husband and her job is administering his charity foundation. Except her relative and friend Tess (whom Stephanie doesn't remember meeting) says that Stephanie never mentioned a husband in the three years she'd known her.
Hades regrets the way he treated Stephanie (keeping her in a cage for weeks, nightly games of Russian roulette, etc.). He is now aware that he loves her and he wants her to love him. He uses her memory loss to give her the life together she deserved instead of the life they'd had.

Top 5 Wednesday - Instant Pre-Orders
These days I don’t too much do pre-orders, but I definitely used to show up to Barnes and Noble on a Harry Potter release day to pick up my copy. Now I’m more likely to immediately add books to my Amazon wishlist, but some authors still get an automatic buy. This Top 5 Wednesday, we’re talking about Instant Pre-Orders: Continue reading Untitled

Definitive iceberg chart of weird Justinian and Theodora media, from least to most obscure
#sorry I abbreviated The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire like it's a taylor swift song lmao#you'd think mainstream historical nonfiction books would rank less obscure but believe me most of the people I see talking about this time#are absolutely not reading actual books#the Rest is History Love Island competition probably shouldn't count as its own thing#but I would be surprised if it wasn't many people's first introduction to Theodora#queue
