Snowflake Challenge #6 In your own space, post the results of your fandom scavenger hunt. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
This one looked super fun, and I'm doing both physical stuff as well as a few digital things, bc for some of these I had more than one thing I wanted to share so. :D
Search in your current space, whether brick-and-mortar or digital. Post a picture or description of something that is or represents:
A favorite character
Tumblr media
Sausage and Santa Perla oml <3
I can't list one without the other ofc. Sausage's lore captivated me in Empires s1, and hasn't let go yet. The lore he's running in Empires s2 is just incredible. It's made me cry far too many times, and I'm just so invested in whatever the hell he's got going on. Also I love a good excuse for religious world-building, and having Santa Perla to work with has been so fun. <3 I'm really looking forward to what Pearl decides to do with her side of the lore now that she remembers as well.
2. Something that makes you laugh
Tumblr media
It's Mark Watson, Alex Horne, and Tim Key! This is collectively representing them as a group of friends and just doing stupid shit together, but also No More Jockeys, Mark's long shows, Key's works, and the non-Taskmaster stuff Alex does, though there's not much outside of the Horne Section these days lol, he's a busy boy.
For digital things, may I offer the following: - Longform: Big Fat Quiz 2015. It starts off fairly sensible then gets derailed by bad dong, and only gets more off-track from there. A classic. - Shortform: Carrot In A Box. Need I say more. rip Sean Lock, you bastard genius. </3 - TV series: 15 Storeys High, Sean Lock's sitcom from way back when. It was rec'd to me by a friend, and I don't regret finding a copy to download bc it's so good. <3 - TV series: This Is Jinsy, weird, full of songs, nonsense and whimsy, def worth tracking down a copy of this show. It's so good. Makes me laugh so much. <3 Greg Davies in drag is also a lovely touch lol.
3. A bookshelf
Tumblr media
These are the Taskmaster books that still exist. I tore up an awful lot of them to make 1000 paper cranes a few years ago. XD Also have some Key and Horne and Watson. <3 The three books on the far left are my current reading material.
4. A game or hobby you enjoy
Tumblr media
iykyk >_>
(and yes at some point I will be making a Dinnerbone nametag for that blue sheep :D)
5. Something you find comforting
Tumblr media
Cub omg. <3 I just find his voice so soothing and comforting, and bingeing through his episodes or watching his streams is very comforting for me. I'm really enjoying all the daily speedrunning streams atm bc they're on when I'm awake during the mornings for me, so I can have breakfast and chill with Cub and it's so so nice. <3
6. A TV show or movie you hope more people will watch
Tumblr media
Double The Fist is an old Aussie TV comedy that I maintain is actually a metanarrative about the intersections of queerness, homophobia, and toxic masculinity (ESPECIALLY in the second series) that I am woefully inadequately skilled enough to actually write on, but trust me bro, everyone in the main cast is some flavour of queer and I'm here for it. It's very good.
Tumblr media
bonus shout out for Set The Thames On Fire, bc it's such a good movie and more of you need to see it frfr. <3 There were some really, really interesting headcanons going around linking Noel's character in this movie back to his character in The Mighty Boosh as a bonus if you like that kind of thing.
7. A piece of clothing you love
Tumblr media
look I won't be able to wear these for like another four months but they are super comfy and I adore them so much. <3
also yeah I didn't take these out of my chest of drawers bc lazy and also I live in a dark cave of a room, the lighting is terrible everywhere. XD
8. A thing from an old fandom
Tumblr media
The Prisoner! Dhani Harrison got me onto this bc he named his band thenewno2, I adored their music, and when I looked them up, discovered what it was named after, and then I dived right in and fell in love with it. I can't remember which specific episode order I prefer out of the five or so that exist, but yeah!
I've written crossovers with The Prisoner for my last 2/3 fandoms, so maybe I'll get there for Hermitcraft one day. :D?
9. A thing from a new fandom
Tumblr media
ConVex my beloveds <3
If you want to know why they took over my brain, I would like to point you at this 3min edit of ConVex lore and let you take it all in. :D They're insane, I love them so much. XD

Happy Birthday Dhani Harrison!
On this day in 1978, Dhani Harrison was born in Windsor, Berkshire, UK to proud parents George and Olivia. Between his work with Thenewno2, Fistful of Mercy, and he is also quite the solo artists as well. I've been lucky enough to do album reviews of IN///PARALLEL and INNERSTRANDING. I even included INNERSTANDING on my Best Albums of 2023 list.
Here is the official music video for "I.C.U.". Happy 46th Dhani!

so, to someone who is starting, what music should i get into first in dhanis and julians career?
Well, I started with Julian's most recent, Jude. It's really good. He does have a similar sound to John. There's not a skip on the album.
And Dhani, I started with IN///PARALLEL, his first solo album. All of the songs on it are good save for the one about Poseidon bc it's got weird effects. And he has his new album too, INNERSTANDING. The opening song on that one is weird, don't let that throw you off.
He has albums from a couple bands, thenewno2 and Fistful of Mercy, but their sound is more rock oriented, not a ambient or electronic.
And with Dhani's solo albums, do NOT go in expecting to hear George's style of music. You'll be disappointed if you do. He's tried to distance himself musically, which, wise move.

HEAR: Dhani Harrison - “New Religion (Ft. Graham Coxon)”
Tumblr media
Multiple GRAMMY® Award-winning musician and composer, Dhani Harrison, has released INNERSTANDING, his first solo album in six years. The new album is available now digitally, with a 2LP Neon Yellow color vinyl edition being available on February 9th, 2024, via H.O.T. Records/BMG. The album features Blur’s Graham Coxon on several tracks, including the single “New Religion”, as well as guest appearances from Liela Moss of The Duke Spirit and critically acclaimed Australian singer Mereki. Watch the visualizer for “New Religion (feat. Graham Coxon)” below: “Here we are in a new world and here is the new album that has come forth from it.” Dhani Harrison on his new album, Harrison previously previewed the album with the single “Damn That Frequency”, which also featured Coxon on saxophone – stream HERE. In addition to his appearance on that track, Coxon also features on guitar on four other songs on INNERSTANDING. The album was produced by Harrison and co-mixed with GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Paul Hicks (The Beatles, Joe Strummer, The Rolling Stones). Originally stepping onto the global stage with his band thenewno2, Dhani Harrison first earned critical acclaim for his innovative sound and approach with performances at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and on multiple late night TV shows. However, it was as solo artist that Harrison truly demonstrated his creative autonomy. 2017’s IN///PARALLEL served as a testament to his evolution as a musician, weaving intricate melodies and a subject matter that forewarned much of what the world has experienced in the years following its release. Rolling Stone hailed IN///PARALLEL writing that it was “psychedelia-tinged journey into modern-day disconnect.” Harrison is also known for scoring film and TV projects as well as collaborating with an array of diverse artists including Wu-Tang Clan, UNKLE, John McLaughlin, Annie Lennox, Pearl Jam, Nitin Sawhney, Perry Farrell, Prince, Regina Spektor, and Fistful of Mercy (alongside Ben Harper & Joseph Arthur). Since his 2013 debut as a composer on Richard La Gravenese’s Beautiful Creatures, Harrison has gone on to score the Sundance Award- winning MATANGI/MAYA/M.I.A., for which he and his scoring partner Paul Hicks received an International Documentary Association (IDA) Award nomination for “Best Music Score Award.” Additional scores include R.Z.A.’s CutThroat City, Obey Giant – The Story of Shepard Fairey, Amazon’s original series Good Girls Revolt, Showtime’s White Famous, and the much-lauded HBO docuseries, The Case Against Adnan Syed. As an artist who defies categorization, Harrison continues to explore the boundaries of music and creativity. His ability to seamlessly blend diverse influences while maintaining his individuality has solidified his place as a contemporary musical visionary. With each new composition, performance, and collaboration, Dhani Harrison invites us to join him on a sonic journey that knows no limits. Read the full article

No worries at all! Life has a way of being all... lifey sometimes!
All About Waiting is such a good song! I can't remember if I said--I enjoyed his solo album as well, but I still think I liked thenewno2 a little better.
I have 4 tattoos! I have a kind of artsy turquoise and black heart on my lower back, Emmett from the Lego Movie on my calf, the owl from Rush's Fly by Night album across my upper back (it's big!), and the cover of ELO's album, Time, on my forearm.
I definitely want more and have a few ideas: the cover of Zeppelin IV on my arm maybe, or the feather in the circle that's Robert Plants symbol from Zeppelin. I'd like to get Mordechai from the Regular Show on my leg, and then something Doctor Who around my ELO tat because it's time related too!
Do you have any ink? Or want any?
For instruments, growing up, I played piano, violin, and clarinet. These days, I play none of those, lol. But i have an acoustic guitar I am so bad at, and a ukulele I can play 2 songs on with moderate success. I can play, Riptide, by Vance ( I don't remember his last name) and New Blue Moon by the Wilburys. (Jeff and George is so many chords in their songs that are like, yeah, I absolutely can't make my hand do that, haha!)
Do you like to travel? Is there a favorite place you've been? And is there anywhere (or multiple places) you'd like to go?
🎅🎅🎅
I have 6 tattoos so far but definitely want more! Most of mine are on my arms, I have a Lorien leaf, an acorn and the mark Gandalf leaves on Bilbo's door, the Rebel Alliance symbol from Star Wars, the Q from the Queen logo, "It's All Right" from Here Comes the Sun in George's handwriting, and Howl and Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle
I want more LotR tattoos, and maybe a couple other anime or video game tattoos!
I do like to travel, but I haven't gone anywhere in a few years, last place I went was to visit family in the states, but the best trip I've ever taken was going to New Zealand a few years ago. I would love to go back there, and I also want to visit the UK :)
How about you??

Album Review: John Lennon "Mind Games" Ultimate Collection
Through this blog, I've had the pleasure of covering The Beatles quite a bit, but this actually marks the first time I've been lucky enough to do an album review of a John Lennon solo release. I've gotten to review documentary films (The Lost Weekend: A Love Story, John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial, and most recently Revival69) about and/or featuring Lennon, but never an album review. Until now! Lennon's fourth solo album Mind Games was originally released on October 29, 1973. By this point it was a few years after The Beatles broke up. The album was recorded as Lennon was having issues with immigration and it was the start of his separation from wife Yoko Ono, known as his "Lost Weekend" which was actually 18 months. This past week saw the release of the Super Deluxe Edition of Mind Games: The Ultimate Collection from UMe.
Tumblr media
1973 album cover
The album got a bad wrap when it was released. It only reached #9 on the Billboard album charts. It has been reissued many times over the years, but my favorite was the 2010 remastered edition that was included in the John Lennon Signature Box. The title track is the big song on the album that gets the most attention. But there's some bangers here including "Bring on the Lucie (Freda Peeple)" and "Meat City". Similar to the Ultimate Collection treatment that Lennon's Imagine got in 2018 and John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band got in 2021, this is Mind Games getting the kitchen sink box set treatment. Disc 1 is The Ultimate Mixes, produced by Sean Ono Lennon and mixed / engineered by Paul Hicks (known for his remixes of The Beatles and his partnership with Dhani Harrison in thenewno2), a very honest remastering of the album. Disc 2 is The Elemental Mixes, a more stripped back minimalist approach to the album. Disc 3 is The Elements Mixes, an even more minimalist approach to the album with as few instruments as possible heard. Disc 4 is The Evolution Documentary, which serves as an audio documentary of the recording sessions start-to-finish, hearing between song chatter and discussion. Disc 5 is The Raw Studio Mixes, which present the album with less studio effects. Disc 6 is The Out-Takes, which is different takes of the songs. There is also 2 Blu-rays that includes all of the versions. There's also a coffee-table book, a promotional poster, postcards, and a numbered Citizen of Nutopia ID card.
Tumblr media
Super Deluxe edition
First and foremost, I do love John Lennon's solo work. But my initial feeling going into this review was that this was not one of his better albums and therefore it seemed less deserving to receive this kind of a box set treatment over, say Rock 'N' Roll or Double Fantasy. Both Imagine and Plastic Ono Band getting this treatment made sense as those were probably his best solo albums. Mind Games is good, but not as good as others. This box set is a lot and at times it definitely borders on For Fans Only, but having listened a few times, I can say two things: (1) I think the original is a better album than it got credit for, and (2) some of these mixes are definitely better than others to say the least. The Elemental Mix, The Elements Mix and The Raw Studio Mixes are interesting in the experimental "look what we can do with technology", but not in the sense of adding to the story of this album. The Evolution Documentary and The Out-Takes are where this box set came alive for me in terms of showing different versions and dialogue. The packaging is among the best box sets in recent years in terms of photos, writing and trinkets.

Bottom line: Give it a chance if you're skeptical and appreciate the phenomenal packaging!
