25 Years
Advanced Happy Pokemon day, trainers!
For my second post this year, it would be my starters through the years! It consisted of Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Totodile, Treecko, Piplup, Oshawott, Froakie, Rowlett, and Sobble.
I am happy that @Pokemon kept me inspired and motivated. Now and then whether it was a small change- from having a curry dex to getting your first ribbon in a Pokemon contest, they were all exciting to me. As an adult, the excitement faded off a bit because of the realization of how jaded the world is, but Pokemon kept my enthusiasm burning.
From my first game, Pokemon Gold, getting my Totodile and releasing it accidentally to Pokemon Sword's Sobble perfectly trained with lots of curry love from me.
Happy 25 years of Team Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, and Galar! Cheers to more exciting regions! Hopefully somewhere in Asia-Pacific~ :D
-
Here are the individual drawings of my starters and stories!
Pokemon Yellow - Starter: Pikachu
Technically Pokemon Yellow was my 2nd Pokemon game next to Pokemon Gold. I love the version so much because I relieved how Ash Ketchum had all the starters in Kanto plus Pikachu following you!
I remember I got another bootleg version of the Pokemon Yellow and the battery of the game was not working so you could not save my progress. I had to finish the game in a day before my batteries die. Fortunately, I finished the game with Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise, Ivysaur, Pidgeot, Butterfree and Omastar.
Pokemon Fire Red - Starter: Bulbasaur
Fire Red was my 4th Pokemon game. I remember when I saw the trailer in the commercial I was imagining myself had lots of money and get the game and Gameboy advance SP.
Although by that time, I got a drive to save money and happily, I got my first Gameboy Advance using my own lunch money. I miss those days.
Pokemon Gold - Starter: Totodile
Pokemon Gold was my first ever Pokemon game. It was a bootleg that my father gave me because of a piracy raid as a gift for me haha! So ironic but a fun memory.
Totodile was my first starter although unfortunately, I accidentally released him because supposed to be the ‘Release’ button was ‘Fix’.
Pokemon Ruby - Starter: Treecko
After Pokemon Gold, I got a chance to play the newly released games on my cousin’s computer. I was ignorant about the concept of emulators that time. It was also the reason why I wanted to own a computer that time to play the new Pokemon games. Little did I know it was not the legit games.
Anyway, my 3rd Pokemon game was Pokemon Ruby on an emulator. I remember I wanted to stay in my cousin’s house just finish the whole game. I picked Treecko that time, got to evolve him to Grovyle while fighting Nincada and kept losing to a bug catcher haha! I just got to the first gym and turned off the computer because I had to go.
Oh memories~
Pokemon Diamond - Starter: Piplup
My first DS game was not my console neither my game. It was owned by my best friend in high school where he knew I love and knew a lot about Pokemon, so while him playing the game I was at his back giving commands.
I told him to pick Piplup for me and he agreed. We were in the 5th gym when we stopped playing because of our finals. Even technically I did not own any of those, I still felt I played the game.
Pokemon White 2 - Starter: Oshawott
Together with Pokemon X, Pokemon Black 2 were my first 3DS games. I bought them with my 3DS using my first salary. I waited for this moment where I could buy anything without my parents disagreeing with me.
I picked Oshawott as my starter and loved him in the game and in the anime!
Pokemon X - Starter: Froakie
I was so amaze when I bought Pokemon X because it was for me a huge leap from my previously owned games which was back from Pokemon Ruby! I loved the story, all the cities and my new rivals.
I chose Froakie and never even made it evolve until the last gym haha! Oh memories from Paris (what?)
Pokemon Sun - Starter: Rowlett
If I’m going to pick the best starter I have on my list, it would be Rowlett. I really love owls if only I could have one as a pet.
I got a Sassy one so I drew my Rowlett kind of judging you from head to toe haha!
If I would pick between the recent games (8th to 7th generations), I would pick the 7th generation. I really loved the anime series and the games because they were fresh of breath to me. It was the first time both series and the games chose different pathways.
I now want to play Pokemon Sun, again~!
Pokemon Shield - Starter: Sobble
While waiting for the games to come out, I already was saving up for my new Nintendo Switch. When I found out I could preorder the game in advance, I hastily went to my favorite game store in my city and bought a slot!
It was never a problem to me to buy a game before in that store but when the preorders came out there was indeed a line! I was jumping of joy while holding my game and Nintendo Switch at the same time.
I picked Sobble because it looks like a chameleon and a little baby for me. Just like Froakie, I only let it evolve after I completed all the gyms.

Pokemon is 25 now! How old were you when you first started playing Pokemon?

So this is the art I made a few years ago of myself as a Pokemon trainer! It takes inspiration from the games I’ve played (X, ORAS, SM, USUM, SW), although I have updated my own rosters and headcanons (and myself in general) since then, so don’t be surprised when stuff from my updated Pokemon World thingie is different than before :)
------------------------------------------------
Jade was born in the Kalos region to a famous actress, and they lived in the region for several years. While here, Jade started their Pokemon journey, obtaining a mega ring and several Pokemon before the issue with Team Flare occurred. It was a separate group of trainers that took care of Lysandre before freeing Xerneas and Yveltal from the machine they were bound to. Because of the crisis, Jade’s mom decided to move to Alola, onto Melemele Island.
When they reached the island, Jade was instantly reached out to by the local Pokemon professor, Professor Kukui. He introduced them to Hau, another trainer their age who was ready to take his Pokemon journey as well. After meeting Lillie, Jade and Hau begin their adventure in Alola, dealing with Team Skull and the Aether Foundation’s machinations up until Lusamine went to confront Necrozma. Working with Lillie, Jade was able to help Nebby evolve into the Legendary Pokemon of the Moon, Lunala. After Necrozma appeared and took over Lunala to steal more light, Jade was approached by the Legendary Sun Pokemon, Solgaleo, who joined them on the journey, where together they defeated Ultra Necrozma, saving the region and helping Lunala return to Lillie. With the crisis averted, Jade assisted in the reconstruction of Ultra Megalopolis, became Alola’s first ever Pokemon League Champion, helped reform the Aether Foundation and Team Skull before defeating Team Rainbow Rocket, opening their eyes to the world beyond the island region.
Several years into his reign as Alola’s champion, Jade took a trip to the Hoenn region, where they played a critical role alongside Steven and two trainers, Brendan and May, thwarting the plans of Team Magma and Aqua. However, the two teams succeeded in awakening both Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, and while Brendan and May dealt with those two, the Draconid Lorekeeper Zinnia approached Jade to summon Rayquaza, where in which they became the new Lorekeeper, and friend of Rayquaza. Once the immediate crisis of the Primal Legendaries was averted, Zinnia alerted them to the asteroid heading towards the region, where Jade dealt with it and Deoxys, catching the extra-terrestrial Pokemon for themselves.
Once Jade turned 18, they abdicated their place as Champion to longtime friend Hau, and traveled to Galar, a region known for strong trainers. Gladion, now CEO of the Aether Foundation, gifted Jade the final Type: Null, and sent them off. Staying with Hau’s distant cousin Hop, Jade learned about Galar’s culture and history in order to prepare for the Galar League, which was available for adults only. Starting their journey alongside Hop, Jade met new challenges with the Dynamax function, as well as new friends and allies in Sonia, Gloria, Victor, Leon, and even Marnie; before they earned her affections after a particularly difficult battle outside of Spikemouth. Once the actions of Chairman Rose were revealed, Jade surpassed the Champion to catch Eternatus, and later became the Champion of the Galar League. Then, Jade was invited to both the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra, furthering their Pokemon journey to what it is today. Although, they seems to be putting their eyes towards Sinnoh, where it is rumored that the settled waters are stirring.

World News: Famous People’s Section
Champion Jade: Who Are They? - A Basic Overview
Ever since their ascension to the throne of Galar, a region known for high quality trainers, Champion Jade has been hailed as the strongest trainer in the region, and is a strong contender for strongest trainer in the world. They were even trained by former Champion Mustard on the Isle of Armor, and have frequent training sessions with former Champion “Steel” Peony, which has certainly improved their rating. In fact, in a recent exhibition match in Kalos, Champion Jade effortlessly wiped out Champion Diantha’s team, her Mega Gardevoir barely being able to survive a ‘Let’s Snuggle Forever’ Z-Move from Champion Jade’s Mimikyu: Doodle.
Being one of the few trainers to utilize all three alternative battling styles; those being Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, and Dynamaxing; Champion Jade is a fierce rival. While good at strategizing (even frequently switching out Pokemon when the rules allow), they shine in using raw force in powerful moves, blasting through defenses with ‘Earthquake’ and ‘Sunsteel Strike’ more than anything else. It is often said by analysts that Champion Jade’s only real threats in a restriction-free-battle would be Champion Cynthia from Sinnoh and Pokemon Master Red from Kanto. Champion Cynthia’s Garchomp is the only Pokemon to have KO’d Champion Jade’s Tyrantrum: Hades, in a single move, while Pokemon Master Red has the longest recorded match with Champion Jade, at 31 minutes; Champion Cynthia has the second highest time at 28 minutes. These two are the only trainers that Champion Jade officially recognizes as rivals, although they are adamant that anyone can become as strong as they are if they put in the work.
Even in restricted fights, where the Pokemon species and battle style is set and limited, Champion Jade is still a force to be reckoned with. Reduced to one form of alternative battling, Champion Jade shines in using their strategic skills, taking the time to set traps such as ‘Leech Seed’ or using poisoning moves. One of the most famous matches in a restricted setting was an exhibition match in Alola, where Champion Jade and not yet Champion Hau went against Pokemon Masters Red and Blue. This battle is where Champion Jade first revealed their friendship with Rayquaza, the Mega-Evolved Legendary devastating the opposing team. It was only defeated after a mighty combined effort from Pokemon Master Red’s Charizard and Pokemon Master Blue’s Blastoise. However, this match was swiftly finished when Champion Jade asked Solgaleo to step in, who finished off the last two exhausted enemy Pokemon. After this match, more rules were put into play regarding Legendary Pokemon in battling; including an entirely new section of battling, “Anything Goes”, which became known as unrestricted battles.
Another strong trainer that Champion Jade praises is their girlfriend: Spikemouth Gym Leader Marnie. According to interviews from both of them, the then-challenger in the Galar League gave Jade the most trouble throughout all of their journeys. Champion Jade has even said that Spikemouth Gym Leader Marnie could easily become Champion of almost any region she wanted to, but that she preferred to stay in Galar to try and knock them off the throne.
Champion Jade’s team is a very diverse set, often changing every exhibition match and tournament season. However, through careful study of fans, the following list is the Pokemon who show up the most in Champion Jade’s teams, the top six being the most frequently seen team, with an appearance rating of 33% of the time in matches.
Hades: Tyrantrum (Shiny)
Dionysus: Venusaur (Mega)
Calyrex
Darren: Cinderace (Gigantamax)
Gladion: Silvally
Urshifu (Water Forme)
Rayquaza (Mega)
Solgaleo
Eternatus
Doodle: Mimikyu
Zacian
Apophis: Sandaconda (Gigantamax)
Outside of the competitive scene, Champion Jade is still a popular figure in the media. They have starred in several films like their mother, but they have been featured on many more songs in Gym Leader Klara’s tracks, being a good singer. Champion Jade is often seen in public alongside their multitude of friends, and frequently takes trips to other regions, mainly Alola and Hoenn, with Marnie. In Alola, Team Skull Leader Guzma always shows up to try and ‘beat the punk into a pulp’ with his Golisopod. The following is a list of Champion Jade’s known associates, collected by their fanbase:
Their Mother - Alola
Professor Kukui - Alola
Lillie - Alola/Kanto
Pokemon League Champion Hau - Alola
Aether President Gladion - Alola
Team Skull Leader Guzma - Alola
Champion May - Hoenn
Gym Leader Brendan - Hoenn
Former Pokemon League Champion Steven - Hoenn
Draconid Lorekeeper Zinnia - Hoenn
Pokemon League Champion Cynthia - Sinnoh
Pokemon Master Red - Alola

Pokemon Trainer Gloria - Galar
Gym Leader Marnie - Galar
Gym Leader Bede - Galar
League Chairman Leon - Galar
Dojo Master Mustard - Isle of Armor
Gym Leader Klara - Isle of Armor
Former Champion Peony - Crown Tundra
Champion Jade is also very friendly to fans, despite having been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Spending much of their free time talking to fans over social media or at events, they frequently let children play with their Pokemon, even giving some rides with Rayquaza if both the Legendary and parents consent to it. Described as shy and skittish but fond of positive attention, Champion Jade and their Tyrantrum: Hades, are often showcased in selfies with fans. In fact, the most liked social media post in the world is a video of Champion Jade, Gym Leader Marnie, Champion Cynthia, and Team Skull Leader Guzma in the mid background of a fan’s selfie photo. The group was clearly in some form of passionate discussion that the audio was unable to catch, Team Skull Leader Guzma snarling while everyone else appeared exasperated until Team Skull Leader Guzma very loudly yelled out “Y’all are stupid!” It currently has 74,375,036 likes.
In one interview, Champion Jade was shown a list that a group of fans had put together; taken from multiple sources, it showcased a few things that Champion Jade fears in battles, or at least hesitates at. The list is as follows:
Team Skull Leader Guzma’s Golisopod getting a ‘First Impression’ hit
Champion Cynthia’s Garchomp
Pokemon Master Red’s Charizard
Gym Leader Marnie’s Morpeko changing into its angry form
Any competitor who has the aid of a Legendary Pokemon
Moves with less than 90% accuracy
Lillie’s angry face at any overkill move
Former Aether President Lusamine’s Clefable
------------------------------
Okay so, a bit of lore for my personal Pokemon universe: So obviously, Legendary Pokemon are essentially gods in the Pokemon World. That’s why it never made sense to me why ten year olds could catch them, especially when they have specific roles like the Tapu’s, you know? So I kinda changed it up here. Most Legendaries tend to stay away from people, but every so often, they’ll come across a trainer of good heart that helps them out of a bad situation, and they sometimes stick around. From this, they realize that “hey, that whole battling and exploring thing sounds pretty cool, looks like fun let’s try it, I’m bored anyways”. But instead of becoming one of the trainer’s pokemon, they befriend the trainers. So they still have their roles to play, like Rayquaza dealing with the ozone layer, Zygarde protecting the balance between Life and Death in the world, and Zacian guarding Galar; but if their duties allow and they choose to, they will follow a trainer’s journey and step in to battle if they want some fun. Below are the examples and reasoning behind each of the Legendaries in the Universe.
For Alola, Lunala chose to stay with Lillie because of the close bond they shared with Lillie protecting Nebby. Solgaleo came to Jade for help because it knew that it would need help to defeat Ultra Necrozma, and the Tapu’s are Alola’s last line of defense. Necrozma was both defeated by a Legendary, and has no specific role, so there was no real risk to the universe by capturing it.
In Hoenn, Latios and Latias are not captured, but instead answer the call of the Eon Flute. They assist in protecting Hoenn, but when there is no danger, they are extremely friendly towards people, especially those who have assisted them before. Groudon and Kyogre were defeated by Brendan and May, but were not captured, so they fell dormant beneath the Earth again, leaving the natural processes of the land and water to go on unaffected. Rayquaza protects the sky and world from the two defeated Legendaries. It is not captured by Jade, but often joins alongside, not only because it’s exciting, but also because Jade has a tendency to come across dangerous, potentially world-ending situations, like with Deoxys, who is not a god, just an extra-terrestrial Pokemon species.
Galar has only a few Legendary Pokemon. Eternatus is an alien of unknown origin, and has no perceived role, allowing it to be subdued and captured without planetary or universal upheaval. Zacian and Zamazenta are theorized to be the Sword and Shield of the Original One itself, and were sent to protect Galar when Eternatus first landed down, where they stayed behind to keep the alien at bay. Once their enemy was captured, the Legendaries joined the two trainers who defeated it alongside them, to make sure that Eternatus would stay subdued. Urshifu is a species of Legendary Pokemon, but it has no duties to attend to, and therefore is safe to capture if it chooses to be captured. The Galarian Birds are part of the same species as the Kantonian Birds, a group of Legendaries capable of producing offspring, where the parents eventually perish, leaving their offspring to protect the land they came from as well. However, they have no role in Galar, and so were safe to capture. Calyrex chose to come with Jade after seeing its kingdom gone, while Regieleci and Regidrago, along with the other of the Regi’s have no more roles now that the shaping of the Earth is completed.
Anyways, I had a lot of fun writing this, so I hope you had fun reading it! Love you all, have a great day!
