answer 1: even ignoring that i feel uncomfortable with rowling’s works because of her current status as an icon of transphobic movements and the unanalyzed racist and antisemitic features of her books (among other things- why, for example, does rowling hate fat people and particularly fat women so much), the hogwarts house system as a personality measure is so frustratingly undefined that answering the question is impossible.  the trick with these “which X are you” personality sorters is that they are vague enough to allow the mind to fill in the gaps and take to them. it’s the same thing as astrology- none of the star sign descriptions are specific, they’re just loose enough that anyone can look at them and go “omg that is sooo me”. but at least astrology has a couple personality indicators for each group and enough room for 12 arguably separate groups. the hogwarts houses pale in comparison to even astrology- there are four groups, and arguably each has only one united trait. you’ve got “brave”, “smart”, “the evil house that can also be claimed as ‘clever’ for the folks who feel the smart house is too passé”, and “nice”. in addition, the ways that these are characterized are absolutely lackluster- why, for example, is one house constantly evil? what is the point of having an evil house? the fact it’s represented by a literal snake makes it downright cartoonish. a hogwarts house is a blank statement, even further driven by the mention in the books that you can just choose whichever house you’d like anyway. and i suspect it’s designed this way because by introducing an identity for children to get attached to you can make BANK with merch. hogwarts houses saw the money astrology makes and said “i’m gonna get in on that” and paradoxically by making the system even “worse” they were able to increase sales. it sort of blows my mind. harry potter’s worldbuilding is often as thin and as uncomplicated as royal blood and it makes trying to engage with the books frustrating for me in addition to the (gesturing wildly) Everything else

HC: SURGERY + KAIJU NO.1'S SPECTACLES

the search for a compatible user for the number weapon for kaiju oo1 was something of a struggle until narumi came onto the scene. he was the first person who's compatibility rate for no. 1 was something to be spoken for. however, there was a price to be paid to be able to use kaiju number one's gift of foresight. it would require a surgery, much similar to lasik and would require a week of recovery after (his eyes were healed within four days, but he waited it out for a week. ). he was not fond of the first fourty-eight hours post surgery considering his vision was perfect before. instead, his vision was more hazy than anything, the sunlight was too bright for him, and the slight burn that accompanied it were not things he was fond of.

however, narumi is as stubborn as they came, so as a way to not die of boredom during the post surgery, he tried to play video games. it was the only thing he could focus on until the haziness of his eyes would settle in. when hasegawa would check up on him, he would just see a frustrated narumi slumped on the floor with the glare of his video game playing. after awhile, when he took the bandages off on the fourth day, he begun to notice subtle things. it wasn't anything immediate, at first he would catch things before they could shatter, a way of explanation was that it was his fast reflexes. when they decided to do, a test run on his new eyes, it was when narumi could see the subtle brain signals of a kaiju he was hunting that his world turned upside down. to him, it gave him a different field of vision. to him, it was like predicting the future.

his defense force sanctioned test run ended, but he had wanted to see what it was like normally. his curiosity to know his limits ( and break them eventually ) is something that narumi will always chase after. he'd gone out for once, pupils dilated into something less human, more kaiju, & he decided he would humor some girl at the bar. he learned he needed a warm-up just like the test run, but the way he could predict her every move impressed her like telling her that he knew she was interested since the next move was her tell. what was her tell? just simply wrapping a strand of her hair around her ear and giving him a knowing stare. he used his powers to read her body language. his ego somehow ruins it, but make no mistakes she'd given him a good ego boost anyways.

he might have not gotten anything that night, but confirmation that this was a power worth that awful week.
