Change | Volokari
He was the warmth that she yearned to hold.
Seeing him always brought a smile on her face. When she felt that the world was about to swallow her whole, he would be there to pull her to safety. When she felt that the sorrow was too heavy to bear, he would be there to shove the grief away. When everyone turned their backs on the poor girl, he was there to reach out for her.
He was the hope she long feared was gone.
As the sun and moon exchanged places. As the seasons rolled by in a blink. As the sky turned bloody red to bring forth a promise of death. Akari felt confident and safe every time her eyes set on the beautiful smile from the man who cared for her.
He entered her world. Entered her heart.
Akari couldn’t be even more grateful. Couldn’t even be more blissful. His smile brought butterflies to her stomach. His laugh kissed heat into her cheeks. To be able to stay by his side, Akari always chastised herself for feeling giddy like a little girl. To be able to hold his hand, she wanted to hide in a hole for wanting to squeal in utter delight.
To feel a soft kiss on the back of her hand as his gaze lingered so lovingly, so devotedly, Akari wondered if this was truly a gift in a sea of challenges.
His gentle voice bloomed her heart anew.
And as she saw him talking to a fellow Ginkgo member, Akari couldn’t stop herself from waving happily and jogging towards him.
  He saw her.
Her smile widened. Her eyes sparkled.
With the brightest smile shined upon her face, Akari joyfully called, “VOLO—”
---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
  “—OOOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!”
Her scream shattered the world that was already broken down by her feet.
Black eyes shrunk madly inside blacker irises. Tears ruined her vision, yet Akari couldn’t care less as the pain in her chest destroyed any rationality that her brain tried to comprehend.
All she could see was him.
Giratina swallowed the sun above them, yet Akari rued the fact that he was perfectly in her line of sight. The mighty roar of the abandoned supreme being shrilled her ears, yet Akari wanted to scream herself to be able to hear his deranged laugh.
As the sun and moon were swallowed by darkness. As the seasons shattered and sizzled through distorted space. As the sky tore open a haunting abyss that bestowed death upon those who reached for it. Akari felt hopeless and terrified every time her eyes set on the bloodthirsty smile from the man whom she once thought cared for her.
He broke her world. Broke her heart.
Rubble and boulders flew and flung towards her. With a scream she barely recognized was her own, her Samurott slashed the rain of rocks away. The Pokémon stood before her, bloody and bruised, ready to fight to the very end if it means protecting her from harm’s way.
  It hurt.
Akari couldn’t even be more devastated. Couldn’t even be more heartbroken. His smile wretched nausea into her throat. His laugh stabbed tears into bloodred eyes. To be forced with the reality that he had been using her, Akari wanted to punch his face over and over. To be forced to go against him so that the world would not be driven into apocalypse again, she wanted scream at the top of her lungs until blood choked out of her.
To remember the touch of his lips at the back of her hand as his gaze lingered on her so lovingly—so deceivingly—Akari wondered if this truly was punishment for all the sins she never knew she bared.
His maniacal laugh shattered what’s left of her heart.
And as she glared at him from across the shattered ruins, from below the horrifying sky, Akari couldn’t stop herself from grinding her teeth and digging sharp nails into her palms.
He was the grief she long feared would appear.
  He stared at her.
Her jaw tightened. Her eyes glistened.
With the most heartbreaking shriek cracking her throat, Akari commanded Nobunaga to attack forward.
