I am the only person at work who does not celebrate a holiday in december and most customers and coworkers will say merry christmas or happy holiday at the end of a conversation anyway which is fine but the Hashtag Progressive ones have been fighting for their lives while talking to me. which is very entertaining.

Timorous - Itadori Yuji
Tumblr media
I love hybrid au’s for the fact that I can google deep dive animal research for hours lol and speaking of research I went with a bunny, breed being a French lop with speckles. also this is a college au my guys, gender neutral reader! 6k words
A bit of a size difference thing here? Itadori is a tiger and tigers are bigger than rabbits...so I made him bigger and by that logic he’s bigger than you...tiger big rabbit small...I hope that makes sense lol and both reader and itadori are adorably skittish in this :) at least I think it’s adorable
To say Itadori had a problem would be both an understatement and an over exaggeration, depending on who you asked. Megumi said he was blowing things out of proportion while Nobara agreed that this dilemma he had was probably the biggest problem of their generation.
He had a crush on you, a rabbit hybrid. A soft, wonderful little thing with long ears and cute speckles all around your body. And it wouldn’t be such a problem if not for the painful fact of who Itadori was: a tiger hybrid. A predator nearly directly above you, much larger and stronger than you could ever hope to be.
He laid eyes on you during your first year of university, back in a prerequisite class for the major both of you had chosen. Seeing you walk in surrounded by other rabbits and sitting at the front of the class, he could barely take his eyes off you and when you said your name, he committed it to memory.
Everything about you was perfect, everything Itadori could ask for in a partner and more, but he knew there wasn’t any hope out there that he could approach you, at least not alone and especially not in your first year. So he waited patiently, almost too patiently, for the right opportunity to talk to you.
He waited so long it was now almost the end of your second year.
“Alright everyone, I’d like you to think about who you want to pair up with for this project and report back to me by the end of the week. Anyone that doesn’t have a partner by then will be paired up.” The professor announced at the end of class, closing up the textbook you’d been pouring over for an hour. This was the perfect opportunity for Itadori to get close to you.
Lingering in the classroom, Itadori packed up his things slowly and watched as the usual people you were with left class while you hung around to ask the professor a question. Holding his breath, Itadori walked out of the classroom at the same time as you.
You didn’t look in his direction at all, keeping your head down and ears framing your face. Itadori could smell the subtle unease rolling off you in waves and it disheartened him enough that he watched you walk away.
“H-hey (Y/N)!” Mustering up the courage to say your name, Itadori rushed over to your disappearing form. Looking over your shoulder, your eyes went wide seeing Itadori running toward you.
“What uh, what can I help you with?” This was the first time you were speaking to him and your voice was trembling. Your fingers were pulsing from how hard you were holding onto the strap of your bag, and you only briefly made eye contact with him.
“I was wondering…” Itadori’s tail twitched nervously and a lump began to form in his throat the longer he looked at you. You were just so cute it physically hurt him and all Itadori wanted to do was bundle you in his arms and nuzzle your fuzzy ears.
“I was wondering if you want to be partners for that project in class?” Seeing you flinch when he raised his hand up to scratch at the back of his neck, Itadori winced and tucked both hands behind his back.
“Uhm…” Worrying your lip, you took a look up and down the halls. There was a decent amount of people milling about, giving you a little more peace of mind. Even though Itadori was an arms length away he still took up a large portion in your field of vision.
“Y-you don’t have to give me an answer right now!” Putting both hands up in surrender, Itadori gasped as you stumbled back, clearly frightened by the sudden movement and his long claws. “Sorry! Sorry, I’m so sorry!”
Now he really felt bad. He scared you bad enough that you were pressed against the wall behind you, slightly crouched like you were ready to run away. Taking a generous step back, Itadori once again tucked his hands behind his back, idly grabbing onto the base of his tail as well.
“Can I give you an answer later?” You whispered, slowly coming to a full stand again.
“Of course! We actually have a few classes together later, so you can tell me then if you want.”
“Okay…”
“Itadori! M-my name is Itadori!” Blushing lightly as he told you his name, he watched you think it over.
“Okay Itadori.” Nodding curtly, you pressed your lips into a thin line and started to shuffle down the hall. “I’ll tell you later.”
“Bye!” Waving at your retreating form, Itadori felt a trickle of hope. Even if you didn’t say yes to being his partner, at least now you knew his name.
“Excuse me, Itadori?” Two classes later and you approached his desk, keeping a fair distance away.
“Yes?” Looking at you with hearts in his eyes, Itadori sent you a beaming smile with all his sharp teeth on display.
“Why do you want to be my partner?” The question was unexpected, at least for him, and his smile fell.
“Well I- I just thought it’d be nice?” Panicking as he saw confusion flash across your face, Itadori sat up a little straighter in his chair. “N-nice to get to know my fellow classmates! We’re in the same major, so why not get more acquainted?” Stretching his mouth into a tense smile, Itadori let out a breath the same time you did.
“That’s actually a relief. I thought you wanted to be my partner to make me do all the work.” He visibly watched your shoulders relax, the unease in your stance somewhat gone.
“No, never! I would never do that to you! In fact, I’ll do all the work if you want me to! Just say the word, (Y/N)!” Bolting up from his chair, Itadori slammed his hands on his desk. It was probably a good thing you weren’t close to him, you didn’t flinch as hard at his sudden movements.
“We can work on it together.” Laughing under your breath, Itadori’s chest tightened up at seeing a soft smile grace your face.
“So you’ll be my partner? For the project?” Nearly running around the room when you nodded, Itadori forced himself to take a deep breath instead. “That’s great!” His tail swayed happily from side to side, and Itadori had a silly smile on his face as he looked at you.
“So uh, I’m going to take my seat now.” You said slowly, unnerved by his unmoving smile. “But we should meet up later? To discuss what we’ll do for the project.”
“Good idea!” Ripping a piece of paper out of the corner of his notebook, Itadori scribbled his phone number down and held it out to you. “Text me anytime, I’ll answer!”
“Good to know.” Chuckling softly, you took the paper and Itadori swore he would never forget the way your fingers brushed against his. With one last final goodbye muttered under your breath you went to your seat.
Itadori watched you for the rest of class, just waiting to see you take out your phone and text him. He hadn’t seen you do anything with the paper he gave you except tuck it away into your pocket.
Keeping his phone clutched in his hand for the rest of the day, Itadori experienced the highest of highs whenever he got a notification, and then the lowest of lows when it turned out not to be you.
At seven pm, just after eating dinner, Itadori finally received the message he’d been waiting for all along.
(Unknown number): Hello, Itadori? It’s (Y/N) :)
(Itadori): HI HELLO HOW ARE YOU
He immediately cringed after sending the message. What kind of person replied like that to someone they’d just met?
(Y/N): I’m good lol I was wondering when you were free to meet up? I don’t have any classes tomorrow if you’re free
(Itadori): yes yes I’m free whenever tomorrow!
(Y/N): that’s great, how about we meet at the north library at 1?
(Itadori): I’ll be there!!
Itadori could hardly close his eyes let alone calm down enough to go to sleep that night. Much to the chagrin of his roommate Megumi, Itadori got up several times during the night to pace around the room and rummage through his closet to choose the perfect outfit.
He was nearly late meeting up with you, having properly gone to sleep just before 4am and sleeping through his alarm. Stumbling through his room, Itadori just barely remembered to grab his bag before he sprinted out of the room and to the library.
“(Y/N)!” Screaming your name as he got closer, he caught a lot of stares from people and from you.
“Did you run all the way here?” You asked, looking over his breathless, sweaty body nearly collapsing.
“Were you waiting long? I’m sorry I was late!” Fumbling to grab his phone, the time read 1:10pm.
“No, it’s okay, don’t worry about it!” Your cheeks were flushed with embarrassment. Not only had he ran all the way here just to meet you, but he had made quite a scene while doing it. You were eager to get inside and away from all the people passing you by and looking curiously between the two of you.
“Let's...let’s go inside…” Itadori panted, light headed from the run but still making his way to open the door for you. Slumping into the first available seat at the first table he saw, Itadori let his dry, narrowed eyes look over you.
It was a warm spring day and you’d chosen the cutest outfit, one that showed off the speckles on your ears and skin. Itadori always liked them, likening them to his own tiger stripes on his ears and tail. He wanted to compare markings with you, trace a line with the dots on your body and learn more about them.
“Have you had a chance to go over the list of topics our professor gave? A few others have already chosen their topics, so we have to cross some out.” Pulling out the assignment, you showed Itadori the ones you’d crossed off and the ones you marked having interest in. Even your handwriting had Itadori wanting to coo at you.
“Whatever you pick is fine.” He replied dumbly, staring at the way you’d written your name on the top of your paper.
“You should have some say in what we choose!” You pushed back, slightly shaking your head.
“No, whatever you want is fine, I swear.” Looking up at you with rosy cheeks and a dry mouth, Itadori watched the gears turn in your head before you looked away and back to the paper.
“If you say so.” Shrugging your shoulders, you looked over the list more seriously before circling a topic and showing it back to him. “Is this one fine?”
“It’s perfect.” Just like you, Itadori almost said. Pulling out his laptop, Itadori put it between the two of you. “We can start researching and making a rough draft, I was actually looking some stuff up last night about the different topics.”
Not using a private browser last night was Itadori’s first mistake. His second mistake was opening Google with you right next to him, where you saw exactly what he’d been looking up during his sleepless night.
French lops, French lops with speckles, French lop ears, how do bunnies get speckles, what do rabbit hybrids like to do for fun, rabbit hybrid favorite food, favorite things to give rabbit hybrids, how to befriend rabbit hybrids, can prey and predator hybrids be friends, what to do if you’re a predator that has a crush on a rabbit hybrid-
Letting out an indistinguishable noise from the back of his throat, Itadori slammed his laptop closed. His face was bright red, not that you could see much of it because he had slammed his face into the table in shame.
Your soft giggle was immediately picked up by him, and Itadori nearly melted from the chair and onto the floor, dissolving into a puddle of nothing but embarrassment and regret. He thought about switching classes or switching majors entirely, anything to save him from having to face you again after this.
“All of my spots grew in by the time I was five, in case you were still curious, Itadori.” He actually was, almost more than he was last night. The internet had given him answers, but just as many questions he still wanted to ask you.
“Really?” Smooshing his cheek against the table, Itadori turned to look at you. You didn’t seem phased at all from what you’d seen, not if the small smile on your face was anything to go by.
“Mhmm.” Opening up his computer again, you took a brief glance at some of the questions he’d looked up. “And I’m assuming from your research you learned I’m a strict herbivore? My favorite type of food is fruit, mangoes and melons especially.”
“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.” Still hanging his head low, Itadori pulled himself up from the table. He had wanted to get to know you more naturally, not have you find his obsessive search history.
“I want to! And It seems like you want to know, too!” Gesturing to the screen, you giggled when he hit his forehead against the table again. Patting him on the back for a few seconds revitalised him, the fact that you initiated physical contact enough to have him sitting straight in his chair again.
“I do, a lot! I’m really curious about-” Meeting your eyes for a second, Itadori screwed his eyes shut and forced the next words out of his mouth. “I’m really curious about you, (Y/N). I really want to get to know you more.” Nobara and Megumi were going to be so proud of him for finally saying those words to you. He’d been lamenting about wanting to befriend you for nearly two years, it was time to act on that desire.
“You can ask me any question, Itadori.” A soft warmth settled over your face and you tilted your head forward, blocking out your view of the world with your ears. Truth be told, you’d never had a predator show such genuine interest in you before, and it had your heart bumping hard against your ribs.
“My first question is: can we be friends, (Y/N)?” There wasn’t a doubt in Itadori’s mind that you hadn’t seen the last question he looked up, about having a crush on you. He almost wanted to address it, wanted to get his confession out of the way. But it wasn’t the right time or place, and there wasn’t a doubt in Itadori’s mind that if he confessed to you right now you wouldn’t reject him.
“What did your search say about that one? Is it possible for us to be friends?”
“100% possible.” Itadori said with no hesitation.
“Then yes, we can totally be friends.” There was a brief pause between the two of you, one filled by your nervous laughter and Itadori’s relieved sigh.
“Alright then friend, let’s get started on this project.”
Itadori tried his best to focus on the project, he really did. He typed up everything you said, bookmarked everything you wanted and even went back and forth between the stacks to get the books you needed for the project. But his mind was wrapped up in the new title of your relationship, and the greed he felt deep inside himself to make it something more romantic.
By the time you left the library it was well past five pm and the sun was already beginning to dip behind the campus buildings and to the horizon. Helping you clean and pack up, Itadori was astounded at the amount of time that passed; it barely felt like an hour had gone by.
“Man, I’m starving!” Itadori exclaimed as you left the library, throwing his head back and inhaling the fresh air.
“Me too.” You agreed, fatigued from all the work you’d just done and still needed to do.
“You wanna head to the dining hall together?”
“Sure.” Following his lead, you walked through campus. You still kept your distance from Itadori, not quite able to shed how nervous being around him made you, but with time he hoped it would come to pass. Someday, Itadori hoped to hold your hand in his.
Sitting down at a quiet table together, Itadori wasn’t sure how to make conversation with you now. At the library it was easy, there was the project he could talk about and keep a conversation going with that. But here, he was drawing blanks.
“So Itadori, what-”
“Yuji!” Just as you’d started to speak, the familiar voice of Nobara cut in all the way from across the dining hall. Both of you turned to see Nobara waltzing in with a big grin on her face and Megumi trailing after her.
“Oh god.” This was the one time he didn’t want his friends to come and sit with him. But there they were, already collecting food and coming to sit down at the table.
“Found you!” Nobara giggled behind her hand, her own tiger ears relaxing flat against her head.
“Yup, you did.” Speaking behind tight lips, Itadori took a glance at you. Megumi had taken the seat next to you and he easily dwarfed your smaller body. All of them did, it almost looked like you were a child among adults.
“Nice to see you again, (Y/N).” Making sure his large fluffy wolf tail wasn’t brushing against you, Megumi gave you a polite nod and you returned it.
“W-what?! You two know each other?” In all the time Itadori has been crying over you, he never knew of Megumi's connection to you.
“Yeah, Tsumiki and (Y/N) are roommates.”
“Really?” Itadori gasped loudly, exaggeratedly turning his back to you.
“Mhmm!” Picking up your utensils, you began to eat. “Having a wolf as a roommate was kind of scary at the beginning, but we get along great now!”
Itadori was floored. Positively flabbergasted. He could have gotten to know you this whole time by using the excuse of being Megumi’s roommate and best friend as a reason to drop by and ‘check in’ on Tsumiki and see you by extension.
Sending a sharp, pointed look to Megumi, Itadori began to eat in a huff. He would have to grill his friend later on why the connection was never brought up.
“Have you two been here long?” Nobara asked, tapping her long claws against the table.
“No, we just got here.” Your voice only sounded a little meek when you replied, only able to meet Nobara’s intense gaze for a moment before looking down at your plate again.
“Yeah, we just came from the library. We’re partners on a class project.” Mumbling childishly, Itadori snorted at the surprised looks on his friends faces.
“You are?” Nobara almost gasped. “Who asked who?”
“I asked.” Itadori raised his hand.
“And you agreed, (Y/N)? Just like that?”
“Well, not really.” Giggling softly behind your hand, you took a glance at Itadori. “I told him I’d think about it first. I know we’re all in university now and should be adults, but I still get so scared around predators, I needed to weigh my options.”
“Did Yuji say he’d do all the work?” Megumi chimed in.
“He did! It was pretty funny, I thought the desk was going to fall over.”
“Sounds like Yuji.” Snorting, Megumi gave Itadori a look before eating his food.
“Hold on, I still got a couple questions.” Rapidly tapping the table, Nobara flicked her fingers between you and Itadori.
“Can’t they wait until we’re done?” Itadori already had food stuffed in his mouth, his cheeks were bulging out quite a bit. You had also started to eat the mountain of vegetables on your plate.
“Alright, fine.” Heaving a sigh, Nobara grabbed the juice she’d gotten. “But don’t think I’ll forget!”
It was a blessing that Nobara ended up forgetting that she wanted to grill you and Itadori because there would have been no avoiding all the awkward questions she was sure to ask. As your meal progressed, she got onto the topic of beauty products for tiger hybrids and that was all that occupied her mind for a good while.
“(Y/N).” Catching you by the elbow as you walked out of the dining hall almost an hour and a half later, Itadori looked up at the dark sky. “Let me walk you to your dorm.”
“You don’t have to, I wouldn’t want you to go out of your way! Nobara and I can walk back together, we live in the same dorm.”
“Ha well, uh actually…” Scratching the back of her head, Nobara grabbed onto Megumi's sleeve. “Actually, Megumi and I are going to go to a…” Swatting him on the back, Nobara fell silent.
“My father sent Tsumiki and I some more things and I promised to give Nobara some old books.”
“Yup, books! Exactly! So you two walk together and we’ll see you later!” Grabbing onto the back of Megumi’s shirt, Nobara sprinted away, her orange and black tail the last thing you saw before she turned the corner.
“Let’s go, (Y/N).” Itadori tugged on your sleeve gently, bringing your focus back to him. Walking side by side, the night time didn’t seem as scary compared to if you had been alone. You generally tried to avoid being out alone at night, but with Itadori it felt like the sun was still high in the sky.
“Are you cold?” Itadori broke the silence that had settled over you.
“Huh?”
“You just shivered.” Right as he said that, another gust of wind went through the air and blew your ears back, making a strong shiver go up your spine. “Here.” Itadori was already taking off his thick hoodie and pushing it into your arms.
“But you’ll be cold!” Looking at the long sleeve he had on underneath, surely it couldn’t be enough to keep him warm.
“Nonsense, I’ll be fine. Put it on.” It was a miracle that Itadori hadn’t fallen onto the ground from how lightheaded he was. He had given you his hoodie in the spur of the moment and now his actions were catching up to him.
“Okay.” Giving him one last look, you put it on. Swimming in fabric and with the scent of Itadori all around you, it was truly a sight to behold. “How do I look?” You chuckled, trying to adjust the giant hoodie onto your body.
“You look good.” There was a high lilt to the end of his sentence, and Itadori slapped a hand over his face and turned his back to you. If he looked any longer, he would pass out from how cute you looked.
“Thanks Itadori, it’s really warm!”
“N-no problem.” He seriously couldn’t look at you, and seeing your sweater paws out of the corner of his eye had him tripping over his own feet. Thankfully and tragically, the walk to your dorm wasn’t too long, so Itadori didn’t have to deal with it for too long.
“Thanks for walking me back.” Giving him a smile, you began to take off the hoodie.
“K-keep it, keep it on.” Planting his hands on your shoulders, Itadori looked down at you. “I have a million, so just keep that one.” The mixture of your scent and his that was wafting up to his nose was going to be ingrained into his mind forever.
“Wow Itadori, you’re so nice! We should have become friends way sooner!” Patting him on the arm, you shuffled closer to the front door. “Text me when you get back to your dorm, okay?”
“I will!” Waving at you until you went inside, Itadori let out a breath he’d been holding in. The feel good chemicals in his brain were all flooding in at once; the day had gone from good, to great to perfect. Seeing you in his hoodie was one of the things Itadori had wanted for so long it hurt, and now that goal was finally reached.
His happiness turned to adrenaline, making his hands shake and body tremble from how excited he was to see you tomorrow and the next day and the day after that. He was so excited for the future that he ran all the way back to his dorm, letting out cheers and excited screams as he went.
(Itadori): made it to my dorm :)
(Y/N): have a good night!
(Itadori): you too! See you tomorrow!
Clutching his phone to his chest, Itadori threw open the door to his room and immediately made eye contact with Megumi.
“You!”
“Now let me explain-”
“Save it, wolfy! Tell me all about your relationship with (Y/N)!”
As days turned into weeks, Itadori noticed a subtle change in your demeanor around him. You slowly started to walk closer to him, sometimes close enough to occasionally brush shoulders. The fear that was so pungent before was now gone, only replaced with some unease whenever Itadori threw his hands around too much or chewed with his mouth open. All in all, Itadori felt like you could call him a true friend.
And what did friends do? Invite each other to parties of course! Being so personable and easy to get along with, it was only natural that Itadori got invited to a lot of events around campus, and he wanted you to join him.
Which is how you found yourself at probably the biggest party of the season, people pouring out of the doors and spilling into the yard around the university house chosen for this night.
“I’ve never been here before.” You mumbled to Itadori as you approached the house, flanked by Nobara and Megumi. Sure you’d been to parties before, but none this size.
“That’s okay, just stick by me!” Over the past few weeks the level of physical contact in your relationship with Itadori had risen high enough that he was able to put an arm around your shoulder and pull you a bit closer to him.
“Yeah (Y/N) we’ll make sure you have a good time!” Nobara chimed in, her words just a bit slurred. She had pregamed on the way to the party, the flask she kept offering you tucked snugly against her hip.
“Let’s find Maki and the others.” Fushiguro was the first to step into the house and take the lead on where to go. Pushing through the crowds of people for you, Itadori made sure you stayed close by his side.
Meeting up with Maki and a few other upperclassmen, you felt safe among the group. There was a plastic cup in your hand mixed with god knows what, the music was loud and overbearing, but you had been welcomed into the fray with open arms. No one looked twice at your floppy ears and tense body, they just launched into conversation like you’d always been there.
“G-gotta go bathroom.” Your words were slurring more than you expected after finishing your second cup of horribly mixed liquor. Standing away from the wall you’d been leaning against, the world was spinning.
“Need help?” Itadori held onto your elbow tightly, helping keep you stable.
“No.” Shaking your head slowly, you pushed him away. “I got this.”
“(Y/N), lemme show you where the bathroom is! I’ve been here like a million times!” Swooping in between you two, Nobara took confidently drunk steps with you under her arm.
“M’kay!” Giggling, you gave Itadori a wave and stumbled away with her.
“I’ll stay out here and keep guard!” She announced to not only you but to the people around you as well. Throwing open the door, you gave her a big thumbs up before slamming it closed and locking it.
Doing your business as quickly as possible, when you opened the door, Nobara was gone. You could hear her voice echoing throughout the house and when you turned a corner she was at the dining table playing beer pong and losing horribly.
Looking up and down the hall, you were at a loss at what to do. You didn’t remember the right way back to the group and Nobara was too ensconced in the drinking game she was a part of to be of any help.
Dragging your feet down the hall, you ended up at the front of the house, a far cry from where you wanted to be. There were so many people pushing past you to go deeper into the house, or yelling for others to come to them, some of them didn’t seem to care when they bumped you against the wall or nudged you a little too hard.
“Hey little bunny, you look a little lost.” You could smell the fox hybrid before you could see him appear before your eyes, cornering you against the wall as another wave of people walked by.
“I- no, I’m fine.” The lie was evident in your voice and he caught it right away.
“You sure? A little thing like you shouldn’t be all alone.” His voice was condescending, mocking you in plain sight. His soft red fur gleamed under the light of the house and while you would probably admire it from afar, now wasn’t the time.
Nodding instead of speaking, you looked down the hallway again. Surely someone would come looking for you and Nobara.
“Who’re you looking for, bunny? I could help you find them.” Leaning more into your space, the unnamed fox gave you a once over, flashing his teeth once he met your eyes. “Or maybe you were looking for me?”
“No.” The alcohol in your body was making it difficult to string together more than a few words or thoughts in your head, but you knew one thing for sure: you didn’t want to be around this guy anymore. The party was overwhelming enough as it was and adding him into the mix, a predator directly above you, was only making it worse.
“Aw, no need to be shy! All your dreams have come true!” Chuckling to himself, he grabbed onto your wrist. “Let’s go get you a drink, I’ll introduce you to some friends.”
“No.” You said a little louder, but he just ignored you. Trying to get your wrist free wasn’t working either and you quickly found yourself being dragged away from the wall. Digging your heels into the ground, you kept looking for a familiar flash of pink hair. “Itadori!” You shouted, voice mixing with the others in the air and hopefully travelling to the person it was intended for.
“You’re lookin’ for Itadori? Why, I know him! He’s my best friend, I’ll take you to him!” The fox hybrid sent you a sleazy grin, running his free hand through his hair.
“(Y/N).” A familiar heavy hand landed on your shoulder, preventing you from going anywhere.
“Who the hell are you?” The two men shared a sneer, sizing each other up. Finally getting your wrist free, you attached yourself to Itadori’s side.
“I’m their boyfriend. Now get lost.” Wrapping an arm around you, Itadori gave one last glare to the other man before turning and walking away. Getting you to the kitchen, he quickly got you a glass of water. “Drink this.”
“Thanks.” Downing it immediately, the growing tension in your body subsided just from having Itadori next to you.
“If anyone else gives you trouble, tell them I’m your boyfriend. I’m in sports clubs with a lot of the people here, they’ll know who I am.”
“Thanks.” Repeating yourself like a fool, you were overcome with sudden emotion and hugged Itadori. Burrowing your face into his chest, you muttered thanks over and over.
“S’no problem.” He grunted. Itadori was glad you couldn’t see the bright blush on his face right now; he’d only dreamed about hugging you almost every second of the day. Hugging you back, he let his hand come up and stroke your ears and your fur was just as soft as he imagined it to be.
For the rest of the night, Itadori was like your second shadow. He made sure you didn’t drink anymore alcohol, filling you up with water and snacks until you were as sober as he was. He also introduced himself as your boyfriend whenever the need arose, like constantly shouting ‘boyfriend coming through’ as he pushed through crowds for you.
“I hope you had fun, (Y/N).” Itadori said at the end of the night with Nobara passed out drunk being carried on his back.
“I did!” It was nice to meet some upperclassmen, a couple you learned were in your major as well. Fushiguro was walking with them a few feet in front of you, talking animatedly to them.
“That’s good. I was worried that the whole ‘boyfriend’ thing was making you uncomfortable.” A bashful blush coated Itadori’s face as he gave you a sideways glance. Your own cheeks got warmer as well.
“I uh, I kind of liked it.” You said quietly, hoping that he wouldn’t catch it.
“You did?” Of course he heard it. Stopping in his tracks, Itadori’s mouth hung open slightly. Biting his lip, Itadori checked to make sure Nobara was truly out before speaking again. “Well then, can we maybe make it official?”
Maybe it was the lingering energy from the party that was giving him the confidence to ask or maybe Itadori had finally lost it, either way there was no backtracking from what he had just said. Taking your lack of immediate answer as skepticism, Itadori quickly spoke up again.
“If you want, I can take you out on a proper date first! Truthfully I already have everything planned in my head, I’ve wanted to take you out on a date for a while now. B-but you don’t have to if you don’t want to! I just- I want you to give us a chance, but don’t feel pressured to say yes!”
His face was completely flushed, adrenaline pumping through his body. Whether you said yes or no, Itadori was just glad to have finally gotten it off his chest.
“I want to go on a date with you too.” You smiled gently at Itadori, playing with your fingers nervously. “I just have one question.”
“Yes?”
“Did you also Google best first dates to take a rabbit hybrid on?”
“(Y/N)!” Laughing breathlessly, Itadori felt the tension in his body release.
“It’s a fair question!” Laughing along with him, you started to walk down the street again.
“For your information, no I didn’t look that up.” A comfortable silence settled over you as the laughter died down. As soon as Itadori could get a second alone with you, he would. There was actually a lot to discuss for the date that he’d been planning since the first year of university.
“Mmmm…” Nobara groaned and both of you looked at her curiously.
“Nobara? Are you awake?” You asked, brushing the hair from her forehead.
“Kiss...kiss each other.” Her words just barely made sense and Itadori nearly dropped her once he made sense of what she’d said.
“Go back to sleep!” He shouted, nudging her with his shoulder. The blush that had managed to subdue itself was now back tenfold.
“We’ll kiss each other later, Nobara.” You added, fixing her hair and letting her relax onto Itadori again.
“Promise?” She sighed.
“Promise?” Itadori echoed.
“Yeah, I promise.”

Fandom: Death Note
Pairing: L X Reader
Warnings: Emotional and physical abuse.
Words: 3k
A/N: I’m in a death note phase again. I wrote this instead of doing my essay oops.
Tumblr media
Being the girlfriend of a worldwide, secret detective was hard.
Relationships were hard enough as it is but having to make sure both the partners names were kept hidden made it even harder. Then there’s the constant travelling that takes place along with many other things.
Basically, the relationship between L Lawliet and Y/N Y/S/N was a complicated one. Don’t get me wrong, they were both madly in love with the other, but that didn’t make it any less hard.
“Y/N!” A high-pitched voice sounded from behind the aforementioned couple.
That’s Misa, Y/N’s best friend and often co-worker. The two met at a photoshoot where they became fast friends, the pair being able to work together due to their celebrity status.
“Hi, Misa.” A soft smile crawled onto the Y/H/C-haired girls’ lips.
She usually loved seeing Misa, but today all she wanted was to go back to her house and chill, maybe with Lawliet, maybe not. Who knows? Not her.
“Hi, Ryuzaki.” Misa greeted her best friends’ boyfriend, albeit unknowingly, before grasping her small hand around Y/N’s arm. “Bye, Ryuzaki!” Were her final words as she dragged Y/N away, unaware that she was desperately mouthing “sorry” towards her boyfriend.
~
“Light won’t even take me on a date, Y/N/N!” Misa whined, still talking about her ‘boyfriend’, “Isn’t that so unfair?”
“Very.” Y/N mumbled, turning the page on her magazine which lay in front of her.
She was currently lying across Misa’s bed, the pink sheets creasing beneath her. The girl’s legs were crossed in the air, the entire weight of her body being placed solely on her stomach. The magazine she was reading was something she had bought on the way back to Misa’s, hoping to share opinions on outfits or gossip about latest celebrities, something that the pair had done since they met.
“Are you even listening, Y/N/N?” The blonde continued to whine upon realizing that her friend was no longer listening to her boy drama.
“Sorry, just deep in thought.” Y/N’s words weren’t necessarily a lie, she was deep in thought just not about something she wished to share.
Misa didn’t know about Lawliet and Y/N’s relationship, nobody did. That was how they liked it. No one could intervene, no drama or anything of the sort.  Just the two of them, happy, together.
Oh how she longed to be with him right now. The two of them together, even if they were just sitting in HQ together whilst working on the Kira case that they had been working on for months now. That was how they had met: the Kira case.
Y/N knew of his involvement, her father worked as a detective, similar to Lights. That was how she joined the investigation despite being a student. Both her father and close friend, Light, recommended her.
However, that friendship was slowly fading as she found out more and more evidence that made her suspect Light of being Kira. She’s smart, very smart, that’s why she got along with both geniuses. She fit in well with the two. But the more she investigated the case, the more she realized that Light could possibly be behind the mass murders that were causing terror across the world, especially Japan.
“Ooh! What about? Is it a boy?” Misa was now sat up on the ground, arms wrapped tightly around the yellow pillow that she was previously sitting on. Her loose blonde locks fell down her back as well as over the pillow. She looked absolutely beautiful.
How did Light not love her back?
“Shut up.” The other girl huffed, tossing a pillow from Misa’s bed into the face of the owner, giggling as Misa fell backwards onto the soft carpet before bursting into a fit of giggles herself.
“You have to tell me!” The words left Misa’s lips between giggles as she recomposed herself.
“No!”
“Yes~”
The two argued back and forth for around five minutes before giving up, and bursting into a giggle fit once again, something that was common between the pair.
“So, you like someone?” Misa wiggled her eyebrows in amusement at the fact that her best friend was finally interested in someone other than fictional characters. “Tell me everything.”
Without revealing who it was, Y/N began to tell her about her ‘crush’, despite said crush actually being her boyfriend of a few months now. Ensuring that no significant details were released which could identify the man, she told her everything. Blushing was something new to her, but neither Misa nor Y/N complained. It was a refreshing change for them both.
“Wow,” The model let out a breath she wasn’t aware that she was holding once Y/N had poured her heart out, slightly at least. “I never knew you were capable of such feelings, Y/N/N!”
“Stop teasing me~” Y/N’s hands covered her blushing face, words becoming muffled behind the skin. “This is embarrassing enough as it is,” a groan left her lips as she continued her sentence. “Besides, I doubt he even likes me back.” The final words were mumbled, self-doubt settling in as she realized that her boyfriend might not actually love her.
Logically, Y/N knew that L wouldn’t use her, or at least she hopes, and that he genuinely did value her and her opinion. He enjoyed her company and didn’t find her annoying. He really did love her, despite not having admitted it.
“Sure he does! You’re great, Y/N/N.” Misa grinned at her best friend, unknowingly providing her with a source of comfort.
“Thanks, Misa.” A sigh left the other girls lips, a sinking feeling of doubt looming over her. “I should probably get home, it’s getting late. Goodnight, Misa.”
“Goodnight, Y/N!”
~
Instead of heading home Y/N decided to take a late-night stroll.
The dark sky was littered with bright stars, a nice change from the usual plain nights sky in Japan. It gave an almost comforting feel to the stroller, reminding her of her childhood when she would stay up late to stare up at the midnight sky with a genuine belief that it was the world watching over her, much like the moon which was ‘following’ her everywhere she went to make sure she was safe.
It was childish, yes, but she was a child so what do you expect?
The Y/H/C-haired girl observed her breath as she exhaled. It was cold which wasn’t a huge surprise considering that it was nearing December now; winter time. Despite being extremely cold, she decided that it wasn’t time to head home just yet. Her mind wasn’t entirely clear and it wasn’t exactly in her best interest to go home with an overthinking mind, so he continued her walk.
The sound of her shoes hitting the ground was one of the only things she could hear other than the occasional passing car or truck. The streetlights lit up her view, being the only thing that did so and Y/N internally thanked whoever put them up considering she wouldn’t be able to use the torch on her phone as it had died long ago. The odd passing-by car provided her with some light also, although it wasn’t much.
It wasn’t until around 1am when she finally decided she should head home.
~
The house was deadly silent as she entered, but the lights were still alight, leaving the daughter of the local baker and detective confused.
“Mum?” The girls voice was slightly quiet in case she was asleep whilst still being loud enough for anyone seated downstairs to hear.
“Where have you been?!” Her mothers voice was incredibly loud, making Y/N cringe and wince. “I’ve been worried sick! How could you make your mom worry like this?”
Ah, there comes the guilt tripping. Y/N’s thoughts were awfully loud, and she cursed herself internally.
“Sorry, mom.” A frown had made its way onto her lips as she apologized.
Sure, she probably should have warned her that she was going for a walk, but there was no need to guilt trip her.
“You should be. Now go to your room!”
She simply ran upstairs.
~
The bags under Y/Ns’ eyes almost matched Ryuzaki’s the following day.
She hadn’t gotten any sleep that night as she replayed every bad moment with her mother sine childhood and believe me, there was a lot of them.
Her mother hadn’t been the best parent to say the least. She was never physically abusive, but the mental scars from her words and actions had taken a toll on her daughter throughout the years.
“Are you okay?” Lights words were full of concern upon noticing the girls tired composure. The way she stood further proved that she was exhausted considering how she was slumped over. Hands shaking also, Light was genuinely concerned, despite his status as Kira, something he knew that she suspected. “You look terrible, no offence.”
“I’m fine.” Her words were quiet, almost silent, too wrapped up in her own thoughts to give a completely response but she figured those words would suffice and he would hopefully leave her alone.
Whilst concerned, Light knew not to push things when someone didn’t want to talk, so he didn’t push it further, favouring to ask if she was going to the HQ later which she was.
“Ryuzaki isn’t in today,” Lights words caught her attention, finally pulling her from her trance, “he’s working on the investigation.”
“Oh,” while her response was short, the criminal still cheered internally, glad that he had stopped her worrying, even if it was for a split second.
~
For the entire day she was completely ‘out of it’, unable to concentrate or even form a coherent sentence and she mentally kicked herself at her so-called failure. However she was slightly grateful that there was no exam today, knowing she would have most definitely failed. She probably wouldn’t have been able to write more than three words.
Y/N’s walk to HQ was lonely as she desperately craved some human contact.
She really needed a hug.
As though in a trance, the girl scanned herself into HQ and headed towards the main room where she knew everyone would be.
“Hi, Y/N,” Matsuda’s cheerful greeting caught Ryuzaki’s attention. Well, more like the name of the person he was greeting.
Nobody could have known however, unaware of the short-lived glance he had spared towards her. This short glance told him a lot: she hadn’t slept, she was deep in thought and she felt… crap.
This worried the detective immensely. He really did care for the girl; a lot more than he would admit. Not that he didn’t want to, he just didn’t know how she would react and didn’t want to risk facing rejection.
It would hurt.
“Hi.” The response she gave Matsuda was blunt, emotionless which L wasn’t happy to hear.
She never used that tone. She was usually cheerful. It must be bad.
“You guys can go for a break. You’ve been here most of today and it’s not nearing 5pm.” L’s words matched his girlfriends tone as usual, uncaring about the relief his words had just provided the others on the case. “Except you.” His gaze was now fixated on his love, making her internally curse at herself for being so obvious about her low mood.
The raven-haired detective waited for everyone to leave, stare unmoving as he observed Y/N’s every move and she walked towards the chair opposite him.
“What is it?” Y/N’s gaze was cast towards the ground, not wanting L to see her like this. “I’m sorry.” Her words were quick, worried that he was going to say something that would simply upset her more. “I-I didn’t mean too.”
L’s cold hand gently grasped her chin, lifting her face so that they could look at each other and he cringed slightly as he saw the tear threatening to fall from her eyes.
Okay, he is now really worried.
“What’s wrong?” His words were quiet but still laced with genuine concern, along with his eyes. “You can tell me.”
“It’s nothing, really.” The words stumbled from her lips, only worrying him more. “C-can I just go today? Please.”
L simply nodded, watching as she dashed from the HQ and out of his sight.
~
“Why do you keep disappearing?” Y/N’s mothers voice was the first thing she heard as she walked through the door.
“Please, leave me alone.” Y/N begged, simply wishing to be alone.
She made an attempt to dash upstairs, only to be stopped by her mothers tight grip around her wrist as she spun her around to face her. A hash slap hit the younger girls face with such a force that they both knew would leave a mark the following day.
“Y-Y/N…” Upon realisation of what she had just done, her tight grip around her daughters wrist loosened, hand dropping to her side.
“Never talk to me again.” YN’s words were quiet yet laced with venom before she finally dashed up to her room, one goal in mind:
Leave.
Her movements were quick as she packed her bag, tears leaking from her eyes in both pain and sadness,
Within minutes her bag was packed, tossed over her shoulder before she ran downstairs.
“Please don’t leave.” Her mother’s plead fell on deaf ears, the only response coming from the closing of the door as she watched her daughter leave, neither of them knowing if she would ever return.
~
It was cold. Very cold and Y/N cursed herself for not bringing a jacket, being in a skirt and t-shirt which was the same outfit she had worn to school today.
Shivering, she began her long walk towards HQ, something she knew would take a long time.
~
“What happened to you?” Detective Yagami’s voice was filled with panic upon seeing the tear stains on her cheeks as well as the bright red bruising hand-mark.
Lawliet payed no attention  to his remark, simply assuming that Matsuda had had a clumsy accident yet again.
“Please, can I just sit down?” Was what captured his attention, the soft and exhausted voice being one he recognised immediately.
“O-of course.” Soichiro’s words were rushed as he signalled towards the seat he had previously occupied which Y/N gratefully took.
L spun on his chair to look at the girl, breath hitching as he took in her appearance.
He caught her gaze and she had looked up after hearing the spinning of the chair and she thanked whatever gods there were that it was simply the three of them.
“Detective Yagami would you mind if we have a moment?” L’s stare was unmoving as Yagami nodded, leaving the room.
“R-Ryu…” Her voice sounded broken, eyes filled with pain and he soon noticed the bag on the ground, quickly coming to the conclusion that something had happened at home, presumably with her mother, and she had ran away.
L quickly climbed onto his feet, opening his arms which Y/N gladly ran into, breaking down into sobs. His hand placed itself on her hair, burying itself into her hair as her face buried into his chest. L was uncaring as her tears soaked through his white tee; he only cared that she was okay. They stood like that for a long time, L providing comfort she didn’t know she needed.
“Come on,” L broke the silence as his girlfriend calmed down, her breath evening out, “lets get you to a room.” He offered her a hand as she pulled away, one she took with extreme gratitude, appreciating that it must have been hard for him to give her any affection.
Their hands never parted as they climbed the stairs of the HQ, heading towards Y/N’s new room. Ryuzaki had thrown her bag over his shoulder, the heavy weight of the bag not affecting him one bit.
The room was empty, and it was clear nobody was staying there.
The noise of the bag dropping to the ground was loud, startling Y/N whilst Lawliet remained unaffected, having been the one that had caused the noise; not that it would have scared him anyway.
Y/N was led towards the made bed by the detective, sitting herself down as he wordlessly instructed before taking a seat beside her.
“I’m sorry for being such a bother.” She apologised, making L shake his head in disagreement.
“You could never be a bother, Y/N. Not to me.” His words were less monotone than usual, less devoid of feeling. There was a genuine tone coming from him. “Matsuda’s a bother, not you.” He spoke which made the shorter girl chuckle, something she felt she hadn’t done in ages, despite it having only been a day, #
“Thanks, Ryu. For everything.”
“It’s my pleasure.” His arm wrapped around her shoulder, pulling her closely towards him until her warmth was felt by him. “I-“ He paused as he began to speak, extremely aware of what he was about to say.
“What’s wrong?” Y/N asked, confused at his sudden silence.
“I love you.” His words were quiet, almost unheard had it not been for the fact that the room was deadly silent.
The pair fell into an awkward silence for a moment before L got up to leave, apologising as he did so.
“Wait,” Y/N’s hand wrapped around his own, “I love you too.”
A small smile made its way onto both of their lips, L walking back over to the girl until he was stood directly in front of her. She watched closely as he bent down, unsure of what he was about to do. The second his lips touched her forehead a huge blush flowed across her cheeks.
“R-Ryu…?” Her embarrassed voice sounded, the only response she earned from him being a small smile before he gave her a pat on the head, turning to leave.
“Thank you.” She called, making him stop in the doorway.
“Anytime, Y/N/N.” The use of the nickname only made her blush harder.

the cat burglar
“I’m excited for you to meet her,” you laughed, taking your key from your clutch.
“I’m excited too lovie,” Harry whispered, bending– his upper body– down to wrap both his arms around your waist into your ear.
You pushed yourself back playfully, laughing at the small grunt Harry had let out, as he laughed out a ‘menace’ your way biting the love of your ear softly.
You had both just came from a night out, filled with touches, laughs, and giggles. You had asked him to not only come to your place for the first time, but stay through the night as well. You had a special furry friend you had wanted him to finally meet in person, holding the introduction back for a while.
Opening and entering through the threshold, you put your clutch down on the small rounded table near the door, toeing your sneakers off.
“Kiko, come here cutie,” you say, puckering your lips out as you make quick kissing noises.
At that, the Russian Blue kitty made its way to you, emerging from the dark hallway, meowing as she sped up.
You smiled down at her, reaching down as you picked up her up to lay in your arms. Her head perked up. One arm holding her up from the bottom while the other stroked her back.
“Meet Harry cutie,” you say smiling at Harry who you could see smiling down at the feline in your arms, reaching his hand out to pet her forehead moving down to her chin.
“Hi,” he said, introducing himself sillily.
“Ooh got a purr from her, impressive,” you said.
Kiko reached a paw outwards Harry, laying it flatly over Harry’s face precisely over his dimple.
“She likes you,” you murmured, kissing Kiko on her head.
“She’s very sweet” Harry stated, rising to his full height. Kiko’s paw falling from his face, bringing his hand once again to pet the top of her head.
You weren’t surprised at all with Kiko taking a liking to Harry, she has basically liked anyone that came over. But, looking at the way her and Harry interacted you could feel the boulder levitate off your shoulders. You watched as he whispered compliments to her.
“Do you wanna go upstairs?” you asked him.
He smiled at that, “Lead the way.”
That said, you set your cat on ground, in result getting a disapproving meow from her. Grabbing Harry’s hand you lead him down the hallway to your bedroom. On the way you could hear Harry chuckling.
“Are you okay?” you ask, looking back at him over your shoulders.
“Yea...,” he laughs some more “Kiko’s just trying to trip me it seems.”
You look down, and there crawling in between his moving legs was she. Meowing as she followed you both.
When you had made it to your bedroom door, you let Harry shuffle behind you to enter your bedroom. In the meantime, you used your foot to block the grey cat.
“Not you,” you whisper to her, squatting down as you pet behind her ear. “I’m glad you like H, but you can’t come in,” you inclined quickly, kissing her head before entering your room closing the door after yourself.
“Everything all right?” he asked, walking over to you.
“Oh yea she’s just used to coming in here whenever she pleases.”
“Perfect,” he said, speeding the rest of the way towards you. He lifted you up swiftly, placing his hands under your thighs.
You supported yourself, holding onto Harry’s upper arms. “Nice” you leer, squeezing him between your hands.
“Glad you noticed” he chuckled lowly, laying you flat on the bed abruptly.
“You ready?” he asked, his fingers gripping loosely on the hem of your top.
“Mhm,” you replied, one hand reaching to his zipper.
-
You both hadn’t started yet, his mouth was on your neck, and only your top was off when Harry pulled away abruptly.
“Do you hear that?” he asked breathlessly, looking down at your stupefied expression.
“No, what is it?”
“Listen.” Bringing one finger to his ear.
A loud, stretched out meow brought you out of your confusion. You had no doubt it was Kiko at the door, probably pawing at the door.
“It’s fine. She’s just dramatic” you inclined, pulling him down by the back of his neck.
He pulled away from you again, a look of slight embarrassment on his face.
“Angel” he hummed, kissing your forehead.
“Hm”
“I lost my stiffy,” he sighed, sitting up on his knees.
“It’s fine,” you laughed, sitting up. “I don’t blame you for no wanting to have sex with a bunch of cat sounds. Do you mind if I let her in?”
“No go ahead. Let her in” he got off the bed, reaching down for his discarded tee. While you walked over to your closet, pulling some random shirt onto you. Once you had that done, you walked over to the door, pulling it wide open for Kiko. She had breezed past you quickly making her way to your bed.
‘You freaking cockblock’ is what you thought to yourself as she walked past you as if you were a dirty litter box.
You rolled your eyes, turning away as you closed the door softly, walking over to really the picture-perfect painting.
Harry was laid on his back feet crossed. As Kiko purred soothingly, her head laid on his upper arm (She was definitely your baby.) While Harry’s arm wrapped around her body so his fingers combed through his soft coat. His head angled so he could eye the cutie.
“Glad to see she’s happy now,” you mutter. Laying down on your back, turning your head to Harry.
“Three of us could cuddle for the night?” straightening the arm that was petting Kiko to make a grabby gesture towards you.
You laughed shyly, bringing yourself as close to Harry as you could with Kiko in between the two of you.
Not the most typical first night over, but what did you really expect.
-
It was the next morning; You had woken up to a gravelly high-pitched morning voice. Opening your eyes bewildered as Kiko was laid on her back her paws playfully attacking Harry’s hand who was teasing her as he lowered, but quickly pulled away, his hand from her stomach.
“Good morning,” you said lowly, bringing the blanket higher to hide half of your face.
“Good morning. Why are you hiding beautiful?” he asked, hooking his finger into the space where the blanket hid around your nose.
Kiko pounced up from the sound of your voice, crawling over, giving you her version of morning kisses. Reaching your hand up to pet her under his chin. “Hi cutie,” you hummed.
“And I’m not hiding. I just woke up, can’t have you breaking up with me so quickly,” you laugh at the look of offense on his face.
“You are something else,” he laughs with you. Leaning over, pulling the blanket down to kiss you slowly on the lips.
“I thought you had something planned today?”
“Was I that bad of a house guest?” he asks back, laying on his side, his head supported up with his knuckles.
“Shut up” you sigh, looking as Kiko had jumped over and back, Harry’s torso, as if he was a hurdle.
“I am...Just didn’t want to leave without saying bye to you”
“It’s like some Troy Bolton spirit entered you. Thirteen year old me would’ve freaked” you cringed when the words left your mouth. But, the embarrassment subsided when Harry laughed.
“I’m wayyy better than that guy.”
“Of course you are” you started sitting up, taking hold of his hands, and interlocking them. “You want breakfast before you go?”
“Yes please,” he sang, taking you with him to the kitchen.
-
Now you were both stood in front your door, full on the breakfast Harry had helped you make. He had his face in between your hands, holding it still as he kisses your cheek repeatedly.
“Harry!” you laughed, bringing your hands up to hold onto to. his forearms.
“I’m gonna miss you” he expressed inarticulately against your cheek.
“I’m gonna miss you too” you cooed. “But can i kiss you kiss you now”
He let go at your special request “I’m all yours,” a bright smile on his face. Waiting for his round of kisses with his arms spread out wide. And you would’ve if it wasn’t for the former cock-block that couldn’t help but try with all her might to climb up Harry’s jeans.
The pads of her feet and crescendoing got his eye, so he leant down to cradle her in his arms. “Couldn’t forget about you. Could I?” he mumbled, petting her tummy softly all while Kiko purred in pleasure.
“Okay. Okay me time now.”
Harry snickered, keeping one arm to coddle Kiko to his chest, as he brought the other to wrap around your neck pulling you in for exactly three long kisses.
“I gotta go. I’ll see you tomorrow though, baby,” he said while settling Kiko to the ground. He kissed you one more time turning around as he opened the door.
“Bye, I love you.”
He smiled loving those words that left your mouth easily. “I love you too” he shouted walking backwards then turned around once he finished the words of affirmation.
He waved from his car, backing away as he drove off quickly. You slammed the door then.
The incessant sad meowing was what made you looked down. Kiko standing on her back paws as the front ones supported her, as she laid them against the door. Meowing non-stop after Harry was your guess.
“I know. I know” you muttered bitterly, picking her up so you both were face to face. “I miss him too, but he is my boyfriend missy.”
She meowed as a rebuttal ‘Yeah well I want him’
“We’re not fighting about this, he’s mine baby” you told her kissing her head, she definitely didn’t like the sound of that as she meowed once again in disbelief.
You set her back down. Expecting her to quickly dash to the scratching post she loved so much, but instead she revolved herself so she was facing the door, meowing (most likely for Harry to come back).
You stood there shocked at her change in behavior. You had only caught her acting like this when you left for work on the security camera.
Pulling your phone from your back pocket, you called Harry quickly.
“Only gone for five seconds miss me already“ from the distance in his voice and all the scratchiness in the background, you knew he had been using his Bluetooth.
“You broke my cat!”
“Excuse me?”
“Kiko has been bawling at the door ever since you left my place.”
“Just the Styles charm baby!”
-
Harry came back the next day. Greeting you with a kiss and placing a box of sweets into your hands. The sound of Harry’s deep voice catching the eye of Kiko who had sprinted from the living room all the way to the front door. Running laps around Harry, her tail touching his leg softly.
“Go ahead into the living room. I’ll get the food ready.”
You walked yourself to the kitchen. There lay both of bowls of snacks you had for the both of you. Turning your head slightly, you Watched Kiko follow behind Harry, as if he was the line leader.
Though it had only been less than twenty-four hours, you were nothing but elated to just lay down next to or on top of Harry– as long as you were close– and just indulge in whatever you both chose to watch.
When you had finally walked into the living room. Setting the bowls and drinks on the coffee table near Harry’s feet. Just as you set the bowls down and were meant to sit next to Harry the view you had saw had bursted your heart.
Harry was slouched into the couch. His feet kicked up on the coffee table– Crossed. His hands cupped the content feline’s face– fingers rubbing wherever they could reach. Whom at the time was stretched vertically in Harry’s lap. Legs stretched out and her paws laying over his chest.
They got along very quick.
You smiled at the pair, walking towards them. Sitting next to Harry. You reached your hand down to pet K’s head with your finger softly. When you were finished giving her your full attention, you looked towards Harry going to put your arms around him, when a small paw was placed on the side of your torso and a meow of discontent was echoed in the air.
You pulled away bamboozled. Harry tries to hold back his smile and the newly possessive cat.
“Did she just?–” you stopped there, deciding to test the waters again, leaning into Harry for a kiss when the same exact thing happened again.
When you pulled away again, she eyed you carefully, meowing for an extra measure, placing herself higher on top of Harry, so her head was nestled into his cheek.
“I can’t believe this” you slant your head closer to Kiko’s “You boyfriend stealer” pointing your finger right at her, which she had fun-lovingly batted away. Turning her attention back on Harry who had a stupidly cute smirk on his face.
“Got your mum jealous. Impressive,” He said to Kiko, bringing his finger up to boop her nose.
“You guys are unbelievable” you rolling your eyes, huffing to yourself.
For weeks and years to come of you being together K’s possessiveness of course lightened. But, if she ever caught you and Harry in some sort of embrace, she’d be quick to sprint to Harry’s lap. Side eying you as Harry gave her his affection. Throwing it in your face more. Looking at you smugly– if you could say so yourself– as you sat astonished and to yourself.
Or the times you and Harry gave each other space instead of cuddling on the couch together. She would lay on Harry, eyes wide, as she eyed you carefully. Just making sure you weren’t going to try anything on her man.

blueberry pancakes // rc
part three | series masterlist
warning; underaged drinking, it gets a little steamy, but there’s nothing explicit
summary; y/n goes to a kook party with rafe
word count; 3k+
Tumblr media
y/n jogged out of her room when her phone rang with the ‘i’m here’ text she’d been waiting for since he first asked her to come tonight. she couldn’t tell if the excitement or anxiety in her chest was winning the internal battle, but she tried to push both of them aside.
her phone rang again, this time with a call from john b that slightly surprised her but she answered it anyways.
“hello?” she waved at her mom that was standing in the kitchen, who smiled brightly and waved at the girl as she walked outside.
“hey! what are you doing tonight?” she sighed as her eyes locked on the truck in her driveway, knowing that if she told john b the truth it would end in a lecture or an argument.
“i’m going out.” she mumbled softly, hoping he didn’t press further, but that proved to be purely wishful thinking on her end.
“where?” she sighed softly after she locked her front door, standing on her porch for a bit longer. rafe could see her standing in front of her door, not understanding what she was doing until she pulled the phone away from her ear as she sighed out heavily.
“kelce’s.”
“so you’re going full kook, now?” she laughed bitterly, eyes locking with rafe’s through the windshield. she tried to apologize with gestures and an apologetic glance but he waved her off with a small laugh that she couldn’t hear.
“you sound like jj.”
“well maybe jj had a point.” she laughed again, this time loud enough for rafe to hear through the window he had rolled down.
“that’s perfect, really. you two can fall in love with kooks and i can’t even hang out with them. i’d really love to stand here and listen to you run off all of your reasons why this is a bad idea, but unfortunately i just don’t have the time for that.” she started walking towards rafe’s car, hoping to end this conversation quickly.
“you’re hanging out with rafe and topper, y/n! that’s hardly the same thing!” y/n rolled her eyes when she opened the door to the truck and heard john b scoff loudly when the sound reached his ears.
“funny that we’re just going to skip over the fact that you’re fucking the princess os kooks, john b. sarah’s as much of a kook as rafe is.” rafe cringed at the mention of john b and his sister’s relationship, and y/n smiled apologetically at him.
“sarah hasn’t dedicated her life to ruining the pogues, y/n.”
“okay well i’ll talk to you later. thank you for voicing your concern but i can assure you i’m doing just fine.” rafe smiled at her softly when she pulled herself into the truck, rolling her eyes but smiling at the sight of him beaming brightly in the driver’s seat.
“y/n, just listen-”
“bye routledge.” she ended the call and leaned her head back against the seat, sighing heavily and dropping her phone in her lap.
"regret spending time with me, yet?” rafe quizzed, genuine curiosity flooding his senses but he tried to play it off with a small chuckle and a bright smile.
“no.” she smiled back at him, letting the moment linger for a little while longer before laughing and telling him to start the car.
the drive to kelce’s wasn’t too long. they did have to make it from the cut to figure eight, but it was surprisingly shorter than most rides between the two parts of the island.
y/n had laughed almost the entire drive over, watching rafe sing the wrong lyrics to the songs playing through his stereo quite loudly. the windows were down, and usually y/n would’ve complained about messing up her hair just before she saw and met a bunch of people, but she couldn’t bring herself to care.
it was almost just like she expected it to be. cars lining the street in front of kelce’s house, kids littering the yard with red solo cups and their bodies, bound to get a noise complaint between the music from inside and the yelling outside.
rafe saw the slight hesitation from y/n, but she pushed a smile forward and got out of the car anyways. she knew some of these people, and with rafe by her side, she didn’t feel the need to cower in a corner all night long.
rafe’s hand found a home on the small of her back almost instantly, leading her through the yard and the house skillfully, as he had done many times before. y/n found it almost insane when she actually relaxed at the sight of topper, never thinking that would happen in her entire life.
“y/n!” the boy cheered from a few feet away, stretching his arms out beside him as a bright smile spread across his lips.
y/n laughed at his excitement, surely induced by alcohol, and watched him push people out of his way to make the small journey over to her. he lifted her off of the ground and spun her around, rambling off about how he was excited that she agreed to come.
rafe watched the scene unfold before him, smiling when y/n’s laugh filled the air around him. he had never found something so simple sound so melodic, finding the warmth in his chest slightly comforting and entirely terrifying.
when y/n was back on her feet topper threw an arm around her shoulders and began scanning the room for kelce. he found the boy after only a minute of looking, pulling y/n along with him while rafe followed close behind.
y/n’s hand lingered behind her subtly, feeling rafe’s hand fold into hers gently, a reassuring thumb rubbing circles on the inside of her palm. rafe only dropped her hand when kelce took notice to the three of them, leaving his conversation to walk over to them.
“you came!” kelce said excitedly, throwing his arms around y/n in a much calmer manner than topper had down previously.
“i guess i did.” she laughed gently, watching kelce smile knowingly, though he was still glad she came.
“well i’m glad you did. just have fun, alright? kook parties are better than pogue parties, and i’ve made it my mission to prove that to you.” y/n laughed, but she didn’t doubt that the three boys surrounding her had full intentions of following through with that.
she had thrown back her third shot of the night, biting down on the lime rafe held out for her and smiled around the rind. rafe laughed loudly at the sight, taking a mental polaroid of the smiling girl.
she didn’t know how many songs she’d spent with her back pressed to rafe’s chest, or how many times she had laughed throughout the night. she hadn’t had this much fun at a party in months. she’d spent so long sulking over jj and kie’s relationship that she found herself longing for.
but she hadn’t thought of jj all night long, forgetting about the blond boy any time rafe’s large hands gripped her hips or pressed her against him. her mind was slightly fuzzy, but she knew that she would’ve done it all over again even without the multiple shots of tequila coursing through her.
rafe’s hand grabbed hers and spun her under his arm, another laugh of hers ripping through the air before she leaned into him. rafe’s head dipped into the bend of her neck, pressing a single kiss to bottom of it before his attention shifted across the room.
the blonde girl had gone unseen for close to an hour, thinking that the plan was going smoothly until rafe caught her trying to blend in and nursing the same beer all night to keep a clear head.
rafe leaned down and pressed his lips close to y/n’s ear, finding it difficult to ignore the way her fluid movements stuttered for a split second.
“we’ve got a double agent in the room.” y/n’s eyes followed rafe’s subtle point across the room and she sighed heavily when she caught sight of the blonde.
she knew sarah hated coming to kook parties, it was hard not to when she ranted about it almost every weekend. she hadn’t come to a kook party in weeks, which made her motive of the night crystal clear.
y/n turned to face rafe, her shoulders slumped and eyes slightly red as she looked up at him. she had stopped dancing, and rafe grew slightly concerned at her shift in mood.
he brought his hands up to her cheeks and ran his thumbs softly over her skin, watching her eyes flutter slightly. she leaned into his touch, her hands gripping his forearms softly.
“you want to get out of here?” she nodded slowly, the alcohol in her system making her movements slightly sluggish.
rafe grabbed her hand, walking towards the door and saying goodbye to multiple people on the way. a few people said goodbye to y/n, even if they had just met her hours before. topper was confused when rafe clapped a hand on his back, but rafe leaned in towards his ear and topper rolled his eyes before scanning the crowd.
he found the source of y/n and rafe’s early dismissal and nodded, understanding why y/n would want to flee. he said bye to rafe and gave y/n a tight hug, muttering a soft ‘come back soon’ before letting her follow rafe outside.
rafe opened the door to the truck for y/n, watching her pull herself up into it before shutting it behind her. y/n leaned backwards in the seat, eyes shutting softly as she sighed.
rafe pulled himself into the truck shortly after and smiled at the sight of her. she looked so peaceful beside him, eyes shut for the time being and chest rising and falling regularly.
“you’re staring.” she mumbled softly, eyes opening afterwards to see a smiling rafe not far from her.
“i don’t want to take you home yet.” she smiled at that, pushing herself to sit up straight.
“then don’t take me home.”
rafe let her pick the music on the way to their destination, rolling her eyes every so often at her picks, but sang along with her when he knew them. y/n was singing loudly, if you could even call it singing, laughing along with rafe when his laugh boomed through the car.
y/n smiled when the diner entered her line of sight, humming in content as she sat back in her seat. she jumped out of the car as soon as rafe parked it, not even waiting for him to shut it off before she was skipping towards the door.
she opened the door, bowing playfully towards rafe who just laughed as he walked up to her. he put his hand higher up on the door and playfully pushed her inside, finding her drunken state to be quite entertaining.
y/n waved at the staff who she’d grown to known over the years, not changing much from when she was younger, and plopped herself down in a booth. rafe slid in across from her, smiling widely at the sight of her beaming brightly.
“rafe cameron.” she said softly, leaning into her palm as she stared at him with a look he couldn’t quite decipher.
“yes, princess?” she blushed at the nickname, though that didn’t stop the eye roll she gave him.
“where have you been all my life?” he laughed gently, though there was a slight tug on his heart at the question.
truth be told, he’d known about y/n since he was a kid. though that was a given, since mostly everyone knew everyone on the island. but rafe had noticed her. truly and genuinely noticed her, and little things about her. she thought that the few things he rattled off on their first night at the diner had been just a few simple observations, but she had no idea about the hundreds of things he knew but kept to himself.
he thought she was beautiful, which is probably why he couldn’t stop himself from hitting on her around the pogues. he told himself, and she assumed, that it was all a ploy to get under the skin of her friends. surely, he did the same thing to kie, so it wasn’t anything to read into.
but that was far from the truth. he had felt drawn to y/n for years, and hitting on kie was only an attempt to even it out and tear suspicion away from him. topper noticed him staring every once in a while, but every time he mentioned it rafe shrugged him off quickly and asked why he would be staring at a pogue.
but she was so much more than just another pogue to him.
“right under your nose, i guess.” she smiled at that answer, missing the way his eyes shifted due to her haziness.
“well i’m glad you’re in front of me now.” she leaned over the table, watching rafe’s face light up ever so slightly as he drank in everything she was telling him.
“you’re drunk.” he said softly, paired with a laugh. y/n rolled her eyes but she couldn’t deny it, because she was drunk. but that didn’t affect the way she was smiling at him.
“that doesn’t change how i feel, rafe.” she rolled her eyes and leaned back in the booth, eyes lighting up at the stack of pancakes placed in front of her.
she gasped softly, completely forgetting about their conversation as she grabbed a fork and a knife and started cutting off pieces of blueberry pancake to shove in her mouth. rafe smiled at the excitement she was exuding, laughing gently when she hummed as she chewed.
she found herself sitting in rafe’s car hours later, staring at her front door. there was a light on for her tonight, which her and rafe were both thankful for. navigating in the dark is completely different when you’re drunk, so she was glad she didn’t have to go through that.
y/n looked at rafe, watching his smile falter ever so slightly at the fact that she was about to climb out of his car and disappear into the house in front of them. he knew he’d see her again, possibly even tomorrow, but that didn’t stop the disappointment in his chest.
“you’re doing it again.” she whispered softly, making his head snap to the side as he raised an eyebrow.
“doing what again?” she smiled gently, letting out the smallest laugh as she looked at him.
“sulking. you always do this when you drop me off.” his eyebrows furrowed, confusion flooding his mind but also slight shock. she noticed that he did that?
“sorry, i just- i can’t help it i guess.” she shrugged gently as her smile grew.
“it’s cute. you don’t want to watch me leave.” rafe scoffed at that, eyes rolling as he leaned his head back.
“baby, trust me when i say that i love watching you leave.” y/n gasped loudly and smacked the boy’s chest softly when he laughed loudly, her own laugh mixing in with his shortly after.
their laughter died out, but both held bright smiles as they stared at each other, gazes lingering on various parts of the other’s face. y/n had never thought she’d be drinking in the sight of rafe cameron while sitting in his truck that was parked in her driveway at such a late hour, but she couldn’t say she minded. he surely was a sight to see.
rafe moved first, leaning over the center console and wrapping a hand around the back of her neck. he pulled her in, though it didn’t take much for her to lean in herself. their lips connected, slowly and softly. though the slow and soft connection didn’t last long before y/n was pressing into it harder, rafe’s tongue slipping between her lips shortly after.
it wasn’t rushed, but it was definitely passionate. it didn’t take long before y/n was ripping the seatbelt off of her and crawling over the center console. rafe’s arm quickly wrapped around her back, pulling her over his lap as she moved a leg on either side of him.
both of her hands were holding rafe’s head against hers, while his found a nice home just below her hips, grabbing hand fulls of her. they got lost in the moment, forgetting what time it was or where they were, the slight intoxicated state that y/n was in was barely a memory at the moment.
she was thoroughly convinced that any heightened sense was from the intoxication rafe provided her. all the alcohol in the world could never compete with the warmth that rafe was providing her. with his lips pressed against hers and the slightly heavy breathing, she had to force herself to pull back for air.
both of them were breathing heavily, staring at one another before they broke out into wide smiles and a fit of laughter. still sat in his lap, y/n leaned back softly and jumped when the horn blew. rafe pulled her into his chest quickly, his chest shaking with laughter once again.
“i should go.” she whispered softly, looking down at the boy under her who puffed out his bottom lip.
her thumb traced over his lip, pulling it down ever so slightly before letting it snap back into place. she found herself getting lost in the moment all over again before snapping herself out of it.
“i had fun.” she spoke softly, watching rafe nod before she crawled back into her seat beside him.
she grabbed her phone and leaned over one more time to kiss rafe again, letting it linger for only a second before she pulled back and pushed the door open. she looked back at him, both still smiling widely at one another.
“cameron?” she spoke softly and his smile grew as he nodded.
“i’ll call you.”

The sun peaking through the curtains woke Mack from her slumber, making her yawn and roll over to face the clock. 10:28am. She turned over to she Jo still sleeping, looking peaceful and beautiful as always. Mack carefully stood up and out the covers back over Jo, creeping out the room and walking downstairs. She quietly walked into the empty kitchen and got some water. She new the house was empty because Jo's parents were taking the other kids out to some park so Mack and Jo had opted to stay home.
"Morning." Someone breathed behind her and Mack dropped her glass the sink, cringing as it smashed loudly when it hit the metal basin. "Woah, calm down. It's just me." Kai said in a jokey tone, gently pushing Mack out the way and staring to clear up the broken glass.
"You terrified me!" Mack said with her hand on her heart, her blood pumping way to fast as she tried to get her breathing back to normal.
"Sorry, I thought you new I was still home." Is all Kai said before cursing and dropping the glass he had gather.
"Hey are you okay?" Mack said slightly worried as she saw the crimson liquid dripping down Kai's palm as he shoo it from pain and frantically looked for a towel. He finally found one in a draw and held it over his wound, wincing in pain. Mack rolled her eyes and walked over to him, grabbing the towel from him.
"Sit down, I'll help you." She said and Kai chuckled.
"That sounded like you care about me." Kai laughed and pulled out a dining chair from the table with his good hand before sitting down. Mack scoffed and sat opposite him, pulling his hand into her lap and dabbing what she could see if the cut with the now-damp towel. Kai winced and Mack apologised, before chucking the cloth to the table and trying to tug up the sleeve of Kai's jacket. When that didn't work, she pushed the fabric off his shoulders before tugging it down his arms. She hung the black jacket over the back of Kai's chair before resuming her last position and grabbing his hand again.
"Careful, I might think you want to see me naked." Kai said with a smirk and a flirtatious wink and Mack shook her head while holding back laughter.
"In your dreams, Parker." She scoffed and he leant forward smirking.
"Oh, trust me, it is." He whispered before pulling away and winking. They both jumped slightly when they heard the phone ring and Kai stood up, walking over to answer it, holing the towel to his arm.
"Parker household." He answered, following with various sounds of "mhmm" and "yeah" and "uhuh" before holding the phone out to Mack, who stood up and took it from him.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Mack." Her father's voice came.
"Oh, uh, hi dad."
"I need you to come home now, we need to talk." Mack's heart sped up at his words.
"Um, o-okay. I'll head home now I-I guess."
"Don't worry, you're not in trouble. I just really need to tell you something. In person." Her father reassured her and Mack let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.
"Bye."
"Bye." Mack hung up and gave the phone back to Kai before going over to the table and cleaning up the stuff from earlier.
"I have to go." Mack said to Kai before walking up to Jo's room to grab her things.
~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~
Mack walked through the door and instantly stopped in her tracks, seeing Mim and her
dad sat on the sofa, who both looked up when they heard her come in.
"Come sit." Her father said, motioning to the arm chair. Mack swallowed thickly sat down, nervous. "We need to talk." Mack nodded slowly and her gaze flickered from her dad to her sister every few seconds. Her sister took a deep breath before beginning.
"Well, y-you see, mum, she uh wasn't, h-human." Kim stuttered out, not exactly sure how to say it. Mack frowned in confusion.
"What do you mean not human?"
"W-well she was, a uh-" Kim was interjected by their dad.
"She was a werewolf." He said quickly and bluntly. Mack's eyes widened and her mouth hung open.
"B-but h-how?! Werewolves aren't real!"
"They are. I don't know how, but I fell in love with one." Her dad said calmly.
"H-how does it effect me? She's dead." Mack said with a tear in her eye. Mack's mum had passed out in a car crash when Mack was 14.
"Well, werewolves pass on their, um, gene, to any children they have." Kim said shakily. Mack tilted her head in a questioning way.
"I'm not a werewolf though, surely I'd like 'turn' on a full moon or something if I was."
"You have to trigger the curse." Her dad deadpanned.
"Curse? It's a bad thing?" Mack was genuinely confused.
"Y-yes. To turned you h-have to break every b-bone in your body first." Her Kim almost whispered.
"And you have to kill someone to trigger it." Her dad chimed in grimly.
"W-why do you know so much about this already?" Mack's question was directed at Kim.
"B-because I've already triggered it. Recently. We thought you should know so you might be able to avoid the same fate." Kim said softly, still worried they were scaring Mack and unable to read her sister's expression. After that Mack pieced it together. Kim being distant, not going to college despite being smart enough to get a scholarship, her always picking up an extra shift once a month. It all made sense.
"I-I need some air." Is all Mack said before storming out the door and pinching the bridge of her nose with her thumb and fore finger.
I'm a freaking werewolf, she thought. It made no sense, yet in every way made sense. She needed to distract herself, she needed someone to shout at or to hit something or-
It wasn't until she got to the end of the road that Mack realised she'd been sprinting. She doubled over, out of breath and rested her hands on her knees. Mack hated running, or just sports in general. Her heavily breathing masked the sound of his footsteps and when Ben put a hand on her shoulder Mack jumped in shock and spun around ready to scream. When she realised who it was she calmed down.
"Hey, I saw you running and got worried - you never run." Ben stated before pulling her into a kiss. Mack squirmed and pulled away.
"I'm fine, I just needed some air and didn't really realise I was running..." she trailed off seeing a group of Ben's friends stood a little bit behind him.
"Where have you been? I checked your house yesterday but your dad said you were out." Ben's voice was slightly angry.
"I was at Jo's. I thought I told you." Mack frowned and crossed her arms. Ben nodded and looped his arm around her waist before turning them around and walking them towards his friends.
"We're gonna go cliff diving, wanna join?" He said in a hopeful voice, gesturing to the mixed group of guys and girls looking at them.
"I-I really shouldn't..."
"Awww, c'mon Mack. You're always so boring, all you ever do is try to get a scholarship with those shitty drawings... come have some fun, real fun." He begged, kissing her cheek before placing his lips at her ear. "And maybe we can sneak off and have some fun on our own." He whispered before pulling away and jogging over to the others. Mack stood still for a moment, scared at what might happen if she went and scared of what would happen if she didn't.
She stiffly jogged over time the group of popular girls and boys, nerves coursing through her like waves. She chewed on her nails and Ben threw his arm around her shoulder, his obnoxious laughter ringing in Mack's ear. Her heart jumped when she looked up and her eyes instantly locked on Kai, who fist-bumped another guy - Matthew - with a genuine smile and a melodic laugh. She gulped and Kai looked over at her, sending Mack a wink and a smirk, causing her to look away as fast as she could and focus on the conversation Ben was having with the girl stood by them called Nicole.
Mack took the time to study the girl. She had thick, dark hair made in messy waves that complimented her caramel skin and honey eyes. Her lashes were long and luscious and her lips were plump and full, turned into an innocent smile. She was average height - 5"5 maybe? Her body was gorgeous, with curves in all the right places and not an ounce of fat where it shouldn't be. Like everyone else, she was already in her swimming stuff - with her wetsuit done up to the waist and a slightly revealing, navy blue bikini top which was accented by a silver chain around her neck that supported a simple charm. Mack mentally huffed, knowing she could never compare to a girl as beautiful as Nicole. Mack's look was average (or at least she thought so), with light brown hair that fell just below her shoulders and soft doe eyes that were a common baby blue. She was short and had an average body - no flat stomachs or thigh gap, but still enough curves.
Mack was snapped out of her thoughts when Ben pulled her towards his car.
"We'll pop by Mack's so she can change, we'll catch up to you guys later." He called with a wave, opening the car door and letting her climb inside.
Once they got to Mack's she ran up to her room, swiftly changing into a covering bikini and pulling her wetsuit up to her waist. She quickly chucked her hair up into a high ponytail - leaving it messy with sections falling out at the front to frame her face - and went back downstairs. As she walked into the living room Ben pouted and gestured to her top.
"Babe you know I like the other one better..." he trailed off with a smirk that made Mack sick. He was referring to a bikini Kim had bought her for her birthday that left little to the imagination and was way too easy to take off. Mack rolled her eyes and Ben held out his hand, which Mack took reluctantly and they left to meet the others.
~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~=•~
When they arrived, all the others were already stood at the top the the cliff waiting for Mack and Ben to get there. The couple walked hand in hand from Ben's car to the clifftop to meet the group of about 10 seniors. This is a great way to spend senior year, Mack thought, rolling her eyes at the thought of spending her time messing around with a boyfriend she didn't even like instead of studying and getting good grades and getting into college.
Nicole waved to them and Ben jogged over, leaving Mack to walk the last part on her own. As they reached the top the first three people jumped of the edge, shouting in excitement and fear as they broke the water's surface. Mack's heart sank again, remembering how much she had grown to hate adrenaline activities. She used to love them, when she was popular. She'd do crazy things with her friends every weekend but then her mum died and she figured out her priorities and eating her life was not one of them. A few more people jumped and her nerves got worse, and Mack almost shot 3ft in the air when Kai sneaked up behind her.
"Hey." His smirk was evident in his tone. Mack spun around and slapped his arm.
"You scared the shit out of me!" She complained with wide eyes, huffing as he laughed at her.
"Hey, chill, there's no need to run off, its only me." Mack rolled her eyes as she started to walk off.
"That's kinda the point, dick."
"Ouch.." Kai muttered before catching up to her, walking by her side. "I don't know this was your thing, you know...jumping off cliffs, having fun, spending time with your boyfriend." He teased, poking her in the stomach. Mack sighed frustratedly before walking faster, leaving a grinning Kai behind.
"I'm scared." Mack heard Nicole whine from the edge, standing facing a way from Ben who stood behind her.
"Oh you'll be fine, just jump." Ben waves off, zipping up his wetsuit. Mack headed over to them and stood next to Ben. "Hey baby." He creates and kissed her cheek, before turning his attention back to Nicole.
"I don't think I can do it." She was clearly close to tears. I guess she isn't perfect, Mack thought. Just as she was about to leave Ben grabbed her wrist, making Mack stand behind Nicole.
"Push her babe, trust me, she'll love it." He whispered in her ear. Mack shook her head.
"No, that might work. Push me." Nicole offered, holing her arms out as if to say she was open. Mack gulped and placed her hands on Nicole's back, but her she could retract them Ben 'accidentally' shoved Mack causing Nicole to fall of the cliff screaming. But they never heard a splash. Mack screamed.
"NICOLE!" She shouted, catching the attention of the others.
"Where's Nicole?" Matthew asked, jogging over to the edge. He learned over and backed away with a sound of horror, causing Mack to peak from behind her fingers which covered her pale face. The second she saw what looked like Nicole's lifeless body sprawled on a ledge half way down she shrieked and turned straight back to Ben.
"How could you? You made me push her! You asshole!" Mack screeched, hitting his chest with her fists as tears ran down her eyes. She killed someone. Then it hit her - she killed someone. The curse. "It's all your fault!" She cried and Ben frappes her wrists, dragging her away from the edge.
"Listen here, bitch, you pushed her. It's your fault. And if you ever lay a hand on me again-" Ben's rage was cut off by a unusually welcome voice.
"You'll what, dick?" Kai said with balled fists and a clenched jaw. Ben pushes Mavknto the ground and closed the space between himself and Kai in a few short steps.
"What's it to you? You're just some freak who hides behind snarky comments and sarcasm, I doubt you could do much." Ben spat, standing inches from Kai. Before anyone could stop him Kai's fist collided with Ben's jaw and he wore an expression of pure anger. Ben rubbed where he had been hit but before he could hit Kai back they were interrupted.
"She's moving! I saw her moving!" Matthew shouted, pointing down towards Nicole. Mack's head instantly shit up from where she was cursed into a ball and her tears seems to stop. She was alive? Mack rushed over the the edge just as Nicole let out a groan and her hand twitched.
"She's alive! Someone get help!" Mack screamed.

~~~Reader's POV~~~
I hum quietly as I walk down the empty streets at night, my shoulder throbbing from how heavy my backpack is. "Stupid college assessment.." I mumble under my breath, gripping the strap to my backpack. "Seriously, who stays out this late?" The sudden voice startles me and I whip around in the direction of it, seeing a tall figure with blonde hair and dark brown eyes. "Like you have room to talk, bud." I snicker quietly and he visibly seems to freeze in his spot, his eyes going wide. "Y-you can see me..?" His voice is just above a whisper and I tilt my head to the side in utter confusion, not understanding what he's getting at.
"Yes..? You're tall, fluffy blonde hair, dark chocolate brown eyes, pale skin.. why?" He seems to be shaken up and I slightly back away from him. "You're not gonna believe me if I tell you.." He runs his hand through his hair, slightly disheveling the golden locks. "Color me interested, tell me." I put my free hand in my pocket, shifting my weight to my left foot. He reaches out for my hand still on my backpack strap and as soon as his hand makes contact with mine I scream. "Dude, why are your hands so cold?!" I shove my other hand into the pocket of my hoodie.
He takes a deep breath and his eyes meet mine again. "I'm not.. necessarily alive…" I can't help but laugh at his words, making him more confused. "What are you a ghost or something?" My laughing slightly dies down as I notice a somewhat serious expression on his face. "You can't be serious.." He smiles shyly at me as a light glow starts surrounding him, my eyes widening. My backpack falls off my shoulder as a light breeze kicks in out of nowhere, but I don't hear it hit the ground. Instead, the bag is left slightly floating above the ground. I look back up to meet his eyes and he only continues to smile as the glow dies down, the breeze stopping and my bag falling to the ground.
"You aren't kidding.." My tone is only just above a whisper, my mind starting to sway back to all the old memories with the other world. "Nope, I'm not kidding." He cups his hands behind his back as a light blush takes over his face. "I'm Felix by the way." He bows his head slightly, his smile not faltering. "Y/n.." His eyes seem to twinkle in the glow of the moon as if reflecting the stars in his irises. "Well Felix it was nice to meet you and all, but I have to go now.." I silently trail off and pick up my backpack from the sidewalk. His face visibly falls and sadness overtakes his eyes.
"Please don't leave.. I've been so lonely the past few years. You're my only hope left.." His voice slightly cracks as tears start brimming his eyes. "I mean.. I guess you could come with me..?" My words come out as more of a question than a statement which makes me cringe internally. Wow, nice going Y/n. Felix's chuckle makes me tilt my head before realization hits me. "You can read my thoughts, can't you?" He just giggles and nods, making my cheeks dust with red. "Only if I wish to. If I focus enough energy, I can read the thoughts of mortals around me." My eyes widen and then I know why he was so quiet for a little bit. God damnit. "Don't worry though, I won't always look into that pretty little head of yours." He winks at me and I hit him, making us both shocked before I shake it off. "Keep it up and I'll take back my offer."
"No please don't, I'm sorry." He's quick to be at my side and clinging to my arm, his cold touch making me shiver even with a hoodie not allowing full contact of our skin. "Seriously, why are spirit's hands always so cold?" I ask out or nowhere as we walk to my apartment building, the silence starting to consume me. "I honestly don't have a clue, it might be because we don't have the need for heat anymore? That's the only reason I could think of." I just nod my head as we continue walking down the sidewalk, the moon giving off a beautiful glow to the ground below mine and Felix's feet.
~~At Y/n's Apartment; Y/n's POV~~
A small yawn leaves my mouth as I turn the key in the keyhole, retracting it when I hear the click that indicates the door is unlocked. I push the door open and set my backpack on the floor. I would've flung it, but my laptop is in there and I'd prefer not to buy a new one. "Well, make yourself at home I guess." I run a hand through my hair as I lock the door again, placing my keys on the hook. "Why were you out so late anyway?" Felix takes the liberty of flopping down on my couch, smiling at the comfiness. "I had to finish all my research for my assignment." I sigh and pick up my backpack again, ready to head to my room. "I'm gonna go to bed, it's really late." I yawn again, feeling more sluggish by the second. Felix nods his head and swings his feet back and forth.
"Don't phase through the walls and watch me sleep." The teasing tone in my voice brings a blush to his face and I can't help but giggle. "I'm joking, weirdo." My giggle fit dies down as I walk down the hall towards my room, closing the door behind me. I place my bag down on my desk and grab my pajamas to put on.
I pull my pajama shirt over my head and flop onto my bed, ready to cuddle underneath the warm covers. I turn off my lamp on my bedside table and plug my phone in. The only thoughts crossing my mind are those of the ghost sitting in my living room. I've always been very connected with the spirit world since I was young. Children are always so in tune with it because their minds are so pure and non corrupted by the words of the adults around us. But instead of listening to all those things people said and not believing, I continued to believe. It's just been a few years since I last encountered anything paranormal so I can't help but be shaken up though.
I sigh and push all my thoughts aside, turning on my side. The softness of my pillows slowly starts coaxing me into slumber as I nuzzle my face closer to them. I pull my blankets up to my chin and smile slightly at how good it feels to be back in my bed. My mind is slowly put at ease as I'm pulled into sleep.
~~A Few Months Later; Y/n's POV~~
I'm peacefully amongst the dream land until I feel a pillow make contact with my face. "Y/n! Get up!" The oh too familiar voice tries ripping me from my realm of peace but I just pull the blankets over my head, not wanting to leave my bed. "Y/n you have a lecture to go to! Get the hell up!!" The blankets are ripped off me without Felix even being near my bed. "God damnit Felix, stop using your ghost abilities to ruin my life!" I can only whine at my idiot of a best friend and shove my face into my pillows. His laugh bounces off the walls as he smiles at me.
"Okay but seriously, get your lazy ass up before you're late to your lecture." I turn my head to look at him and next thing I know, a pillow makes contact with my face. "Felix!" He just laughs again and quickly darts up from my chair at my desk, running out of my room. No, not using the door. Through the wall. God I hate him but love him at the same time. "Love you too, Y/n~!" His annoying sing-song voice makes me roll my eyes with a light smile on my face.
I roll out of my bed and stop when I see an outfit laid out on my desk for me already, shaking my head at how well Felix knows me. "You're welcome by the way!" Hi remark makes me laugh as I grab the clothes from my desk and head to the bathroom to change. The past few months have been really eventful with Felix in my life, to say the least. I mean hey, I haven't been late to a single morning lecture since I met him so there's a plus. I flatten my shirt against my torso to get rid of any annoying wrinkles. "20 more minutes girl, come on!" I huff in fake annoyance and run my brush through my hair, quickly getting rid of the knots.
"Calm your tits Feix, there's enough time!" The fake dramatic gasp I receive in return makes me giggle for a little bit. "I'm offended!" The mock hurt in his voice only makes me laugh harder as I walk out of the bathroom to see a pouty Felix sitting on the couch. "Okay my pouty prince I gotta go to my lecture." I quickly walk over to him and ruffle his hair before retreating to the door to put on my shoes. I grab my bag off the floor and quickly open the door, wave, and leave to my class. I have a feeling I was forgetting something, but I just brush it off and continue out of the apartment complex near campus.
~~At the Campus; Jisung's POV~~
I laugh with my best friends as we stand around our college campus, not wanting to go to class yet. Out of the corner of my eye I see a familiar head of h/c hair casually walking in my direction. I smile and turn in that direction and am met with a pair of e/c eyes. "Y/n, hey!" I wave her over to my little group of friends and am nudged in the shoulder by my friends suggestively, chuckling at them. She makes her way towards me quickly and a small "Hi" leaves her mouth. "You've been somewhat distant lately, what's up?" Seungmin is quick to ask her the question our group has been wondering for over a month. "Oh.. it's nothing, really." She laughs awkwardly at her own statement and rubs the nape of her neck.
I can tell she's uncomfortable from the body language she's giving off so I just casually change the subject to Hyunjin's dog. She gives me a thankful look before looking at her phone for the time. "Oh shit, my lecture is starting soon! Bye guys, talk to you later!" Y/n is very quick to rush off in the direction of her class. I hear random footsteps around us even though we're the only people in this area of the campus. What the? I look around for a person that the footsteps could've came from, not seeing a single possible source in sight.
I brush it off and check my phone for the time, noticing that I only had 3 minutes to make it to my astrology lecture. I wave bye to my friends and hurry off to the building, feeling a pair of eyes burning into my soul. I shiver in fear at the thought of being stalked and hurry up on my way.
~~After Classes & At the Apartment; Y/n's POV~~
I sigh at the discomfort and throbbing feeling in my feet from having to walk around so much just to get home. I reach into my pocket for my key, my heart dropping when I realise that's what I forgot this morning. I try to turn the doorknob but of course, Felix locked it after I left. Couldn't even bring me my keys.. I knock on the door, hoping that he's still here. If he went on one of his walks. The door opens and I'm met with the lazy smile of none other than the ghost himself. I hit him in the arm and close the door behind me. "Couldn't even bother to bring me my house key, I see." I say sassily but still in a joking manner, not wanting him to think I'm upset with him.
"Heh sorry, I didn't really notice until your classes were almost done." He ruffles my hair and a familiar glow surrounds him, my bag leaving my shoulder and being carried to my room for me. "You're so extra with your powers at this point." I can't help but giggle at how much of a dork he is, him reciprocating my smile as the glow fades. "Oh, how did the presentation go?" The question makes me groan at him for bringing back up college when I just got home. "It was fine, nothing special." I lean my head on his shoulder, thankful that he's fully materialized. His hands runs up and down my arms, the cool feeling of his palms calming me down.
I feel him smile into my hair before the only thing logical to say at 11pm. "You should probably go to bed, I can tell just by your posture that you need it." He moved away from me and shoves me in the direction of my room, the sudden movement making me almost fall. I mumble a small "good night" to him as I sluggishly make my way to my room to drown in the warmth of my bed.
~~~Felix's POV~~~
I smile sadly as Y/n disappears into her bedroom, sitting myself down on the couch. I look around the living room and frown at the messy look it now had since I got here. When Y/n first let me into her apartment, it was very clean and well kept. But after a while she just stopped caring about cleaning up all the time. I sigh and close my eyes, focusing my energy on my telekinesis to clean the mess. My eyes open and I watch as the plates are moved to the sink to be cleaned later and all the paper that makes itself into a pile on the table.
Once the room looks decently better I put a halt to my powers, looking at the progress I made. I lay down on the couch and a sigh passes through my lips, closing my eyes to attempt at sleep once again.
~~The Next Morning; Y/n's POV~~
I wake up on my own accord this morning, wondering why Felix wasn't bugging me even though I had no classes today. I get out of my bed, my bare feet making contact with the cold floor. I shuffle my way out of my room and see the before mentioned ghost sitting on my couch, head in his hands. "Felix?" I call out to him as I move to stand in front of him, the lack of his cold surrounding area making me confused. He looks up at me with a blank look on his face, fueling my confusion but also striking fear in my heart. "What's wrong?"
I reach out to put my hand on his shoulder but instead of making contact with it, my hand phases right through. What the.. "Felix..?" My voice wavers as my fear starts growing larger. "I'm sorry Y/n.." His voice is just above a whisper but sounds distant despite the lack of "personal bubble" space between us. "For what? What's going on?" My voice cracks slightly when I see the sad look in his eyes. "I'm.. going to leave you alone." As soon as the words hit my ears I swear I feel my world come crashing down. "W-what? Why? Felix please explain why.." I fall to my knees in front of him, the carpet leaving a sting on the surface of my skin.
"You seem like you're closing yourself off from the outside world you live in. I never wanted this to happen if I finally found someone I could interact with." He starts shaking at his own words, tears brimming his dark eyes. "For that, I'm going to set you free. Move on from this friendship and get your life back.." Tears start streaming down my face as he continues, my own body starting to shake. "Felix please.." I sound so pathetic at this point but I don't care. My own thoughts sound selfish to me but I don't care. I want my best friend to stay. I want my best friend to be there for me when I need him.
Hell,
I want him here because I love him.
Felix seems to physically freeze when he processes the rapid thoughts going through my head. "This is why I have to leave. You deserve someone who can really be there for you." He stands up from the couch and moves to the middle of the room, seeming as if he's going to fall on his knees. "But you are and can be! You have been!" I don't even try to hide my tears at this moment in time, my voice cracking again. "Y/n.. we're of two different worlds. Two completely different planes not meant to interact.." Felix starts to sound more and more distant and my eyes look up instinctively, my heart shattering more.
He's disappearing..
"Felix, please! Stay here!" The words are barely able to get out through choked out sobs as he starts disappearing from my sight. "Goodbye Y/n, I love you.." Those are the last words that I hear from him before he's gone. My sobs become louder and harder, my heart starting to hurt. It feels as if my world was torn apart right in front of my eyes, my heart throbbing in hurt. I grip my hair in my hands and curl into a ball on the floor refusing to move from where I am.
I love you Felix Lee, and I always will..
♥♦♥

Double Dee, The Patient (A What-if Scenario)
Note: This is a scenario I had been thinking on for a while now. What if Eddy did catch Edd from leaving? I will always continue to obsess over this story. It is my absolute favorite! Also, some story moments are from @nintendogal55 own in renditions of the story. Enjoy!
“‘K, I’ll be in a soon as I drag my car to another auto shop!” Eddy retorted into his cell phone before disconnecting himself from the worst boss known to man. Then, he opened the door his apartment and slammed it shut, not even caring that he was already disturbing their neighbors enough.
When he came into the kitchen, Edd was leaning against the counter by the sink, almost clutching at it. Eddy only briefly glanced at him before pealing open a banana from the kitchen table. “Sorry,” Eddy apologized to him. Issues with the car had taken up his whole morning that he hadn't even had breakfast or a cup of coffee yet.
Last night, his jerk of a boss, made most of them stay until after midnight cleaning up the shop. Once again, Bragstien didn’t take proper inventory or bought the right store parts. So, they all had to clean the place for nothing! And if by some miracle his car was able to get him home last night before spewing smoke in the middle of the night!
“I’m going to have to take the car today. I wish I could give you a ride in, but I’m late enough as it is. Damn car…” Eddy grumbled under his breath. If he had the money he’d buy a new one. “You don’t mind walking, do you? Surprisingly it’s pretty warm out there for mid-March,” Eddy remarked, pouring a quick cup of coffee.
For a moment Edd didn’t say anything. Then he heard a low voice utter, “No.”
“Bragstien’s killin’ me!” Eddy complained to Edd, as pieces of banana flew out of his mouth. “I swear I want to kick him in the ass one of these days! I’ve worked for him since I was seventeen! Ten years by June! You know, I think that’s the longest anyone has worked for this guy. Maybe that’s why he hasn’t fired me. He must want to have something significant for his auto place compared to Frank’s.”
Strangely, there was no rant from Edd telling him that he needed to quit his job. He did, however, hear feet pacing the kitchen as he gulped down some coffee. Now he found it peculiar that Edd wasn’t even saying anything.
Glancing at his watch Eddy realized that he was going to be late if he didn’t drop his car off now. Frank’s was about twenty minutes from the place he worked at. He could be late if he didn’t want Bragstien giving him another annoying lecture. What was the difference? Bragstien was always late!
“Are you going to leave soon?” Eddy asked Edd. When he turned around to put his coffee cup into the sink his husband was already gone, out the door. “I’ll lock up.”
“Yes,” Came Edd’s voice, again sounding weak.
Now, something really felt off about Edd’s behavior. And looking into the sink there was a full bowl of cereal still left over! And no toast? Edd always made sure to wash the dishes, too.
Before Eddy opened his mouth to call out to Edd his cell phone rang. Inadvertently, he answered it only to hear Bragstien’s reprimanding him again. Feeling ready to explode, Eddy half listened walking onto the porch and locking the front door.
Glancing over his shoulder Eddy caught sight of Edd walking down the stairs. There was something wrong. He was avoiding him. Oh no, was Edd angry that he slept on the couch last night? As soon as Eddy came home he passed on the couch exhausted from work. And that wasn’t the first time.
Besides that, Edd didn’t look right. Edd’s face didn’t look so hot even from the side, or a distance.
Bragstien’s words fell on deaf ears. “Huh, yes. Mr. Bragstien I…. hey!” Eddy called out to Edd catching his attention. As respectfully as he could, Eddy told his boss to wait a moment as he raced down the steps. “Double Dee, you ok- yes, I am still here!”
Edd only glanced at him briefly, before turning away. He was holding himself as if he were cold. Or like he was giving himself a needed hug. He looked miserable, too. “Yes.”
This wasn’t right. Something was wrong. Well, maybe Edd just needed a little space. No, that wasn’t good. He could give him a ride. He did have time.
“Okay, I lo-... The meeting is a what time?” Eddy yelled into the phone. “You just sa…. Okay, okay I will be there! Bye!”
That was it! He was taking no more calls today!
Guilt pressed at Eddy. He didn’t even kiss Edd goodbye! They kissed each other goodbye every morning! Was Edd mad at him? There was no way he could go on with his day without making amends with Edd. Who knew what time he’d get home tonight. He couldn’t promise the weekend. He had to back out on a movie and dinner with Ed and May this past weekend!
Having a romantic idea spring into his mind, Eddy quietly ran down the pathway. Edd hadn’t walked far anyway.
“Oh, Double Dee!” Eddy called out.
“Wha-”
Before Edd could say a word, Eddy spun his husband around and dipped Edd to the ground giving him a big kiss.
“Forget somethin’, babe?”
Standing Edd back on his feet Edd practically fell against him, as if he were about to faint.
“Whoa, you okay, sockhead? A little too much Eddy love?” A worried Eddy asked holding him up.
Then Edd picked his face up and Eddy’s heart immediately plummeted into his stomach. Edd’s whole face was sickly pale. The poor thing could hardly keep his eyes open, and it looked as if he hadn’t slept. Aside from that, his satchel looked as if it were weighing Edd down.
“Double Dee, are you okay? You look awful!” Eddy asked him, holding the man by his arms.
Edd nodded, but even that seemed like too much. “I-I’m fine, Eddy,” He could hardly even talk. Edd then clutched at his stomach. “Just a little tired is all.”
Before he could walk away, Eddy grabbed his arm. “I don’t think you should go to school today!”
Edd just clutched at Eddy’s arm. Eddy jolted. Edd’s hand was freezing! “Jeez, did you sleep in Antartica last night? It’s not even that cold outside!”
“Eddy, I assure you… oh,” Edd clutched at his stomach again, but still kept on with a stupor face which was failing. The more Eddy stared at Edd’s pallid face his heart ached even more. “I will be fine.”
Reaching over, Eddy moved Edd’s hat up and felt his head. Edd was burning up like a volcano ready to explode.
“No way in hell you are going to work today. Come on!” Eddy pulled his husband along. Eddy even took his satchel for him and wrapped an arm around his waist in order to support him. Edd half leaned against him, having little strength to even walk with Eddy’s quick pace. He made little moans of discomfort, continuing to clutch at his stomach.
“Oh Eddy, I d-don’t… oh…”
The moment Edd placed a hand against his mouth Eddy quickened the pace. Now for the stairs! Why couldn’t they live on the first floor? Usually getting up the stairs was easy, but with Edd looking so sick, staggering along, nearly tripping, made it harder. Eddy didn’t let that stop him and kept moving along.
“Eddy,” Edd moaned out painfully.
“Just a few more steps Dee!”
After fumbling with the key, they were inside, and in the bathroom, Edd collapsing to his knees and immediately vomited into the toilet. Before his hat could slip into the line of fire, Eddy held it back. He cringed, looking away as Edd coughed violently. His whole body tensed at times but Eddy kept him steady, rubbing a soothing hand against his back.
“I gotcha, I gotcha, sockhead,” Eddy soothed just like his mother would.
Once Edd had emptied his stomach, his husband almost collapsed against the side of the bathtub having little energy to sit himself up. Eddy helped him stand and carefully lead him back into the bedroom.
Edd, however, tried to get loose. “What about my students? I have to…”
“You can’t teach when you have the flu, Double Dee!” Eddy reprimanded Edd.
Just then Edd’s eyes skyrocketed, looking as if he were going to be ill again. “The flu?!” he repeated. “H-How could I have contracted the flu?”
Eddy lifted Edd’s sweater over his head. He had already sweat through it! “Through germs, sockhead. There’s also an outbreak goin’ around. You probably got it from one of your students.”
Clutching against Eddy, Edd stared guiltily into his husband’s eyes. Tears started to run down his cheeks. “Oh Eddy, you kissed me! Now you have contracted the flu! How could I be so ignorant?”
Eddy smiled at him in reassurance. He then gently helped him to bed and threw the covers over, tucking him in. “Dee, you’re just lucky I caught you before you went off to work. You would have gagged right in front of your class!” He then kissed his forehead. “’Sides, if I get sick, I have you to take care of me.”
Guilt swam in Edd’s eyes. “I still feel so ashamed for missing school. I’ve never missed a day of school, even when I was a student! Oh, this is going to ruin my personal record!” Just then Edd jumped up from the pillow. “What if they fire me!”
That fever must have really gotten to Edd’s head. “Don’t make me have to strap you down you maniac! I’ll call your school for you and tell them what’s going on.”
Edd relaxed into the pillows, looking better. But, tears continued to well up in his eyes. “Thank you, Eddy. But, I know Mrs. Alliston isn’t going to appeal to me being ill. It’s such late notice! And my student’s book reports were due today! And my lesson…”
Eddy lightly placed a gentle hand against his husband’s heart to get him to calm down. “Edd, stop! You’re sick. Every teacher gets sick. You need to rest. I’ll call your boss.”
Edd relaxed into the pillows, cuddling up into the blankets, continuing to sniffle. Eddy rubbed his legs through the bedcovers.
Edd looked up at Eddy with tear streaked eyes, pulling at Eddy’s heartstrings. “You’ll be late for work, Eddy.”
Eddy shook his head. “There’s no way I’m goin’ to work with you sick.”
Sighing, Edd touched his husband’s hand. “I don’t want to keep you from going to work. I’m okay.”
Brushing a strand of Edd’s damp hair away from his face, Eddy touched Edd’s warm cheek. His husband was already starting to fall asleep. “Trust me, sockhead. You’re way more important than having people harass me over things I’m not in charge of.” And he kissed his forehead.
Edd was out like a light in an instant.
Immediately Eddy went to business and called the number to Edd’s school. Was this really the first time he was contacted the school? A woman’s voice, who must have been the secretary answered, and put him through to the principal.
“Hello, Mary Alliston, principal of Starling Elementary, how may I help you?”
Eddy cleared his throat uncomfortably. “Uh hi, This is Eddy.”
“Hello, Eddy, what can I do for you?” she asked.
“Well, you see, Eddward McGee is a teacher there.”
“Uh, yes, Eddward! He’s a third-grade teacher at our school. He’s not arrived yet, which is odd. He’s usually here by now.” Her voice did sound worried.
“Which is why I wanted to tell you that he’s sick and won’t be in today.”
There was a pause. “Wait, hold on. You said your name was Eddy, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Are you Eddward’s husband?” The woman asked excitedly.
Eddy inwardly sighed. Of course, Edd had to be forthcoming on that news to the principal. It wasn’t a problem or anything. Eddy was always anxious about others finding out. “Um, yes…”
“It’s wonderful to hear your voice! It’s a pleasure to meet your acquaintance. Well through the phone that it. I hear from Eddward that you’re a real sweetheart!”
Eddy giggled. “Well, what can I say I’m the man!”
“And a comedian, too. But, anyway, Eddward’s sick? He never gets sick.” Mrs. Alliston stated in shock.
“Uh, yeah, you’re lucky I caught him. He almost slipped by me ready to go off the school. Next thing I knew we were hurrying back inside.” Eddy explained to her.
“Oh, that’s awful. I am so glad you caught him. Every day a student comes to school, gets sick, and then we have to send them home. Anyway, make sure he does get plenty of rest. I will get a substitute as soon as I can for today and most likely tomorrow, I surmise?”
Eddy nodded his head. “Oh yeah, there is no way he’s leaving this house ‘til he’s better!”
“That is true. There are times where it takes almost a week to get better from the flu. I will be sure to have a substitute in hand for Friday just in case he cannot come in then either.”
“You got it, Mrs. A!” Eddy winked at the woman even though they weren’t in the same room.
“I do hope we get to meet someday, Eddy. Eddward has told us all a lot about you!”
Us all? “Yeah, well thanks, I have to call into work now and give ‘em the update.”
“Aw, you are such a good husband!” Mrs. Alliston cooed. “My husband always calls out from work to take care of me, too” she sighed. “Oh, we go through a lot just to take care of our loved ones when they’re sick, don’t we?”
Eddy sighed in agreement. He and Edd had only been married for ten months now. After all the times where he himself had been sick or even injured, never once had Edd been sick. This was definitely a turnaround. He just hoped it wouldn’t be too serious.
Once he hung up the phone, Eddy reached for his cell phone. There was a text.
“‘Hey, Eddy, B canceled the meeting. No need to hurry.’” - Maurice.
Eddy justed wanted to cuss so loudly. He leaned against the wall and slid down onto the floor. If Maurice weren’t at that horrible place, Eddy would have lost it by now.
But then, Eddy worriedly thought about the rest of the day. Could he actually do this? Edd always played the doctor role, always knowing just what to do. Eddy felt like he had no clue what he was doing!
Putting that aside, for now, Eddy dialed Maurice’s phone number. There was no way he was talking to Douchstien again today. He was ready to throw him off a cliff at this point.
Maurice immediately picked up. “Hey, Eddy, how are things? Did you get your car to Frank’s?”
“Hey, uh… actually no, I haven’t even left yet.” Eddy answered, resting his head against the wall.
“Everything alright?”
“Uh, no, actually Double Dee is pretty sick. He has the flu.”
“Oh, that’s terrible,” Maurice said to him.
“You’re tellin’ me! Douchstein was talkin’ my ear off all morning! And there Double Dee was about to slip past me and go off to work! Thinkin’ he was mad at me, I did one of those famous movie kisses when I noticed how pale he was. Next thing I know, we’re back in the house, and he’s hurlin’ his guts out!”
Chuckling a bit, Eddy could hear shuffling as Maurice paused to switch sides with his phone. “Reminds me of last week, except Heather went to work and her boss called me to come to get her. And I didn’t even have my car! Good for you, Eddy!”
“Thanks, so, can you cover my shift today?” Eddy asked, half guiltily. He felt as if he was always asking Maurice for favors. “I want to keep an eye on him.”
“I understand, Eddy. You covered for me last week, so it’s my favor in return to cover for you.”
Eddy smiled so big. “You’re a saint you know that, Maury?”
“Thanks. And Eddy,” Maurice continued, now changing his tone. “I know it is not my business, but you need to spend some time with your husband. I can tell you how much I miss Heather and the kids when I am here. Take some time off, it’s okay.”
Eddy smiled warmly. What did he ever do to deserve Maurice’s kindness? “Thanks, man!”
Now that all the calls were done, Eddy went right back to the bedroom to check on Edd. He had a can of ginger ale in hand. There Edd was sleeping soundly getting his needed rest.
His breaths were so minute that they were barely there. And his face still looked so pale. He would have looked… no, that was an awful thing to think.
For the rest of the day, Eddy sat close to the bed, reading a magazine, in wait to see if Edd needed help. He was up to the task no matter what.
