TED Talk WITH THE LEGEND HIMSELF; JOHN LEGEND:

     For a musician like me, very often will music speaks directly to my heart and soul much better than spoken word sometimes. When I first heard of TED Talks, my imaginations were limited to spoken word until I watched someone come on stage, play and/or sing and leave without saying a single word, and yet leave the audience in amazement and awe of the performed/ messaged. For me, this simply reemphasizes the equal importance of music as a voice to this world. 

John Legend delivered a business story through the song TRUE COLORS, where he shared his passion and expresses his beliefs using his amazing vocals, his dress code, chord progressions, voice intonation, facial expression, without saying a single word to the audience, and yet I could almost see the impact of his message cutting deep down into the hearts of his TED talk audience. 

The message he shared from the lyrics of the song “True Colors”, was very touching and memorable. The way he sang the song depicted who he was and the way he dressed up made him even more believable to me and to his audience. I was deeply inspired by him because of his successful as a musician. No wonder, he was considered as a guest at TED Talks. His accomplishments inspire me not to tire, but to constantly and continuously work to live my own dreams. 

When “the Legend” emphasized the words “True colors…. So don’t be afraid…. To let them show… Your true colors… are beautiful, like a rainbow…”, all I could see from his eyes and all I could hear was, “Terah, you have dreams, don’t give up but believe in yourself.” All I could feel was “fear is not for you anymore, take courage, you will come through.” 

The message reminded me of the reality that in this world, there are challenges. But we have an option of choosing to look approach these challenges as opportunities to shine. If we can’t believe in ourselves, then who would? It begins with us, so we shouldn’t be afraid because our true colors, our true identity, our true brands are truly as beautiful as the rainbow he sings about.
