The Nightingale and the Rose.

Not the entire book "The Happy Prince and other stories"  by Oscar Wilde. Just this one. It has the most beautiful illustrations I've ever seen in my life. This still means the world to me, for many reasons.

10. Have you ever done a favour for a complete stranger without ever thinking about being repaid? (If so, let’s hear the story.)

Yup. It was last year, at the Nightwish concert in Milan. I met 2 young girls. They thought the concert would have ended by 10pm... they had the last train at 11something. Sweet child of Summer. I phoned my mum, she made the beds, called the girls' parents. Everything was ok. I invited them sleeping in my house and gave them a lift for the station the next morning. Not a great story but hey, my life is boring!

11. What kind of character would you be in your favourite story?

I would be the best friendzoned friend. Or the strange one, a bit of Hermione Granger and Luna Lovegood together.

What was the first book you read all by yourself?

Probably some book of the Battello a Vapore or Geronimo Stilton series. The first book I remember vividly reading and reading and that I didn't want to put down because it absorbed me so much was "Il corsaro nero" by Emilio Salgari.

  And childhood cartoon/anime?

Sailor Moon. I even managed to convince my mum to buy me the scepter for my six birthday. I still know the Italian opening.

                If you have the money (money you can spend ONLY in travel) where would you like to go and what place you would like to see again?

 I'd like to go to St. Petersburg and/or Firenze. The first one because I visited Moscow and the girl I befriend on the plane talked for one hour about how much I'd have liked St. Petersburg too. Firenze because it's years I want to see it.

I think I'd like to see again Paris, I went there with my bbf and it was an amazing holiday. Also the little town I used to go every summer as a child in Liguria. It is nothing special, but I loved it and I still remember the best bakery in the next town.

  What are your weird tics/creepy habits/OCDs?

I used to bite my nails. Now I just dig them in my palms to calm myself down. When I am really nervous or stressed I write stories when every single character dies -and my bbf hates me for that. Or reorganize my book-shelves, which takes a day because I divide them by genre, author and "how much I loved them".

Are you a cat person, a dog person, an acromantula person? why?

 A cat person. I love cats. They are cute and funny and they are little tigers.

  When you are alone at home what do you do that you don’t when your family/housemates are in?

I dance with my music blazing from the stereo.

Tell the weirdest, seriously crackest dream you had.

I was taking my oral exam of Russian I, but I was in my garden, the teacher was my Latin professor of the liceo and I couldn't take it because I didn't have the pencil to write it on the paper. The paper was clearly a math text. A math text in english. It wasn’t even scary because it didn’t make sense at all.

If you drive describe me your sweet car, your car, if you don’t imagine your car and describe it anyway. Don’t go with lambos, everybody wants a lambo, we just can’t have one ok?

I drive my mum's old car: it's bright red and is a ford fiesta and it still rocks.

Do you believe in the supernatural? what supernatural thing (like ghosts? kitsunes? urban legends?)?

I don't believe in the supernatural right now. Yes, I change opinion but right now I don't even if I'd like to because the world seemed more fun when I did.

I wanted to ask: start a flame! Now! But if you don’t want you can tell me what you would wear at a red carpet, put a photo or a draw if you can’t describe that and maybe say ‘like this but purple and with sleeves like this ones’ and stuff like that. MAYBE YOU CAN DO BOTH BECAUSE OF YOLO!

What do you like most about yourself?

My hair. I've always loved their color and I love have them as long as I can get them while keeping them healthy. They grow very slow and aren't as red as they used to be but I wouldn't dye them. I love them because I can braid them and play with them and hide behind them and they kinda are my Linus' blanket. I am very very proud of them, me babes! So swhishy and soft!

  What’s your most loved OTP?

 It changes according on what I am following/reading/watching... So I'm going to answer Sandokan and the Pear of Labuan -from the Salgari's novels. It was the first pair I shipped -before even knowing what shipping is- and they were even canon!

Is there something you’re looking forward to in this moment?

Seeing my friends again. I was abroad a month and couldn't hear them properly and now they are at Lucca Comics and I am at home sulking all alone.

What was the last thing you were happy about?

The coffee I made with my moka this morning. I was very happy. I highly enjoy a proper espresso because I live of it, is my primary source of energy. Being abroad was hard: a proper espresso outside Italy is hard to find or incredible expensive.

  What was/is your favourite subject in school? Why?

I can't answer literature because how it is approached at school or uni took a lot of fun out of it, so the answer is: history. Though it was always done badly -exept for that one teacher when I was eleven who was a badass as in: he knew what he was talking about and even talked to us about feminism in a positive light or talking about it at all.

  What’s your favourite place?

 I think I have a few for different reasons. The carpet in front of the stairs in my grandmother's house because I used to lie there and read random books from the nearby shelves. Bar Alessandro in front of uni and a precise spot in Arnold-another bar- a little farther away because I usually go there with classmates&friends. And the place I used to go every August in Piemonte with my grandparents because it was a month of freedom and I know it as the back of my hand and I know a lot of places very calm to write or read without anyone around.

  What do you think about gender identities?

 Anyone be what anyone feels like to be, it is not my –or anyones- right do dictate how another person should view her/him/xiself.

  Tell the most vivid dream you ever had.

Ugh, the recurrent nightmare in which I had problems reaching the classroom and when I finally did the professor pointed at me and said: "Two". In Italy the votes goes from zero to ten. Six is the minimum to pass. And when I asked why he said "Because I said so". I usually woke up after that. I still have it sometimes when I am stress about my studies. The worst part is that in the dream I know I am going to get a two if I reach the class but I always go nonetheless.

  What does piss you off the most?

When I talk and people –mostly my family- shut me up or ask me few moments later the exact thing I was speaking about. Or worse when I talk and they just start talking as I am air. I usually shut up and start planning their murder or start talking louder and trust me I have powerful lounges.

  What is the cutest thing ever?

Kittens. Nobody will make me change idea on this one. Kittens -and cats- are the cutest thing aver.

Do you like phone calls?

Not very much. Because I have hard time with social interaction without seeing the person I am talking to, it is also the reason why I feel awkward at chatting with people I don't know well because I can't see their real reaction at my words or opinions. What they say or write is never like seeing their faces and eyes morphing while I talk. Then again, if I know a person well chatting and phoning are wonderful things because all of my friends live far away.

Here is not snowing any longer but there's still some snow on the ground, it's a sunny day! I've been mildly sick for all January and this got me a little frustrated and sad, but I hope it will soon go away so that I can go back to living normally. I'm also particularly melodramatic lately, what with people asking me how I feel about being 24 and 1 year away from 25... I've started to reply that I live in a constant state of anxiety towards what I've accomplished (nothing) and what lays ahead and so being 24 or 23 doesn't make much difference, that usually depresses them enough that it makes them stop talking... I'm in the first year of the post graduate course of "Languages of Comics" at the Academy of Fine Arts because real life scared me away after I graduated... I'm doing ok there and I'm mildly satisfied by the course per se. What about you? You're still in Canada, aren't you???
