compulsatory heteronormativity was literally one of the biggest themes in homestuck, and yet here the fandom is. deriving worth from female characters based on how the men treat them
#nothing's changed. it's the same old same old#homestuck#i talk#it is wildly fascinating that a work that took years to dissect toxic heteronormativity cultivated an audience that enforced that rigidity#every single aspect of this comic just rails against it and hates it so much#and to an extent this extends to rose and kanaya as well#people loved their dynamic but they are so fucking self destructive when they're with each other#their entire relationship is built on lies false promises and idolatry#this idea that an outsider can control someone else's life is railed against very hard in this comic#one of homestuck's most underdiscussed themes is how people crack under the unfair expectations of someone else#and yet here we are#the comic continues to crack under those expectations
