Blessings of Thegang
A post about a girl and her crow friends is giving me ideas for a TTRPG/fantasy story character whose “deity” is a group of crows.
They have a longstanding arrangement with the crows, which started with offerings of food prompting gifts in return, and has expanded into other “offerings” and exchanged services over time.
They have a reasonably sophisticated level of communication with the crows, through a combination of both sides learning to interpret the others' natural vocalizations and body language, plus some mimicry.
The level of communication is enough for the human to convey a relatively wide range of requests to the crows (more easily with relatively concrete tasks), which the crows will take into consideration—they love their human and like to make them happy, but the crows do not take orders.
Most of the time the crows just benevolently watch over their human (including accompanying them on travels) and take whatever actions they think will be helpful rather than waiting for specific requests.
The human refers to their crows collectively as “the gang” (e.g., “Off to feed the gang” or "Oh, the gang found this for me"), leading outsiders to think that they are a cleric of a little-known god named “Thegang” (they/them).
The human has adopted that language, because it's usually easier than trying to explain more clearly. The food they're laying out is “an offering to Thegang”; they'll “pray to Thegang” for help. How did they suddenly get that item/accomplish that task? “Blessings from Thegang.”
What “Thegang” is god of tends to puzzle people who are going off the bits and pieces they can pick up from being around Thegang's cleric. Some people get the impression that Thegang is a god of murder, with crows as a sacred animal. Or possibly a god of crows, who is worshipped partly through murder? There are definitely crows involved—the cleric is always surrounded by a lots of them that they clearly know individually. But either way around is baffling, since Thegang's cleric really doesn't seem like the type to either commit or endorse murder.
Very few people outside of the cleric's closest circle catch on without help that Thegang is not a god of murder. Thegang is a murder. Of crows.
When people do learn of Thegang's true nature, many tend to be dismissive and disparaging, claiming that this is a mockery. The crows are not gods; they're just animals. Thegang's cleric's is used to it and not much bothered. “Oh, really? What has your god done for you today? Mine found the key I dropped; gave me five arrowheads, this potion, and a small pouch of coins; carried a message to Bob for me, and threatened to peck out the eyes of that guy who tried to rob me until he ran off.”
(Note: Thegang's cleric can do healing magic… because the crows learned long ago that healing potions are a treasured gift and pilfer them at every opportunity.)

Dallas is the type of guy to randomly shoot squirrels with a BB gun.
Sodapop is the type of guy to eat the cream off of the oreos and throw out the cookie part.
Two-Bit is the type of guy to dress up in a bunch of different costumes. Like one day he'll be a chef and the next a fairy princess.
Ponyboy is the type of guy to always win staring contests.
Darry is the type of guy to scream at the TV while watching football games.
Steve is the type of guy to side eye anyone and everyone.
Johnny is the type of guy to adopt 15 kids as soon as he turns 18.

hihi imagine being in a cuddle pile with all your f/os while munching on your favorite snacks <3

Wait
ALL OF THEM????
YES this is PERFECT but also a complete disaster! Yay!
Cael would be the one grabbing the snacks and stands off to the side because he doesn't want to be involved. My brothers and father would be trying to keep me away from the "troublemakers" (just Rinne), while aforementioned Rinne would be trying his darnest to keep me in his arms. He's like a giant bear <33 And Niki would be trying to feed him some snacks to calm him down, and Wataru would be feeding me snacks (sea salt popcorners, glazed donut holes, and seaweed) because he's completely unbothered. My family would get me back though because they have all of UNDEAD on their side, and I'd be sad to be separated from Rinne. At least I can still cuddle Furina and force Scara to cuddle me! He'd prolly be peeved if I called him Lilith in front of everyone (it's a personal thing). Asmoran would probably get along really well with Wataru, actually! And maybe Rinne, I'd like more of my f/os from different worlds to get along.
I don't want to know where Rook would be. The walls? The vents? The couch? The carpet? All I know is I can feel him watching me, which makes me feel very safe and only a little nervous!

"Scooby-Doo Where Are You?" (1969)
Tumblr media
S1 Ep5. "Decoy For A Dognapper"
Air Date: October 11th 1969
"The gang investigates the disappearance of a prized poodle by using Scooby as a decoy to unveil the thief... until Scooby is also kidnapped."
...I haven't posted in a while, and this episode is why. I didn't want to do it. I didn't want to type out all the white guilt I felt while watching this episode. I was struggling to think of fun silly things to add when I first typed up this draft, But while strongly pawing at my own face, not feeling comfortable with what I had written at all. I finally caved and sat down to write this review correctly.
Tumblr media
I will start by saying, this is the most culturally insensitive episode so far - which isn't saying a lot, but we're only on episode 5. For starters, the Name "Geronimo" is used so often it hurts my brain.
For those of you who don't know Geronimo was a prominent leader and medicine man from the Bedonkohe band of the Ndendahe Apache people. From 1850 to 1886, Geronimo joined with members of three other Central Apache bands – the Tchihende, the Tsokanende (called Chiricahua by Americans) and the Nednhi – to carry out numerous raids, as well as fight against Mexican and U.S. military campaigns in the northern Mexico states of Chihuahua and Sonora and in the southwestern American territories of New Mexico and Arizona.
And there is just truly no substance to this episode other than Buck Masters is evil, and yet also somehow a bad villain??? But I will cover that in my villain review.
Usually I take this post to explain what the gang did wrong, or how they actually weren't that helpful after comparison to damage. In this case, I bite my tongue and say they really didn't do anything wrong. No elaborate trap, no ongoing chase scene, no Scooby being Scooby moment, nothing. Daphne does get captured but is short term.
Tumblr media
There weren't even finances to break down, no poke at crashing a boat, not even an elaborate trap that cost way too much.
Freddy made a slingshot out of a tree, and they caught him by the dogs chasing him up a tree. This episode sucked, Burt Masters sucks.
There's no happy ending about this episode. The remarks and comments made during this episode were so low I was even shocked to hear them myself. The entire episode is based on horrible indian stereotypes that we as a society have cancelled them. I wish I hadn't watched this, then rewatch this episode while debating in my own head about what to say. But as I'm writing out financial Breakdown for my villain post, I had to Amazon shudders "Indian Costumes" for a price point and I was shocked to STILL see these cultures still being viewed this way today. Unapologetically being shown in this light.
Tumblr media
At the end of the day, I can say as a society we were just not there in 1969. We (as a society) had not learned to be upset when we view these kinds of things, in fact this was probably a very 'inclusive' episode at the time and Hannah Barbara really thought they were on to something. Which is unfortunate to see now.
I was never a fan of this episode, maybe because it wasn't really funny, or there were a lot of fluff scenes that didn't make sense. I honestly couldn't tell you why I was never a fan growing up, but (now) I can tell you the reason this episode bugs me is because it's extremely culturally insensitive.
Tumblr media
So there, I've done it! I've written out this review and we can now move forward into future episodes and laughs.
I'm sorry if this isn't the normal standard for my reviews, but even small cultural insensitives is not a matter we can overshadow with animation quirks, favorite quotes, and individual character stupidity.
My love for Scooby-Doo carries on, as I know we as a society have made progress and it truly shows in episodes like these - because episodes like these don't exist anymore.

You can watch this Episode of Scooby Doo through Tubi for free! 📺

I love you all, stay safe and educated 💚

Implications - Chapter One (on Wattpad) https://www.wattpad.com/1451281768-implications-chapter-one?utm_source=web&utm_medium=tumblr&utm_content=share_reading&wp_uname=monica_wisco_ghost Small town girls from Indiana don't often find themselves in the bustling areas of south Philly. Miley Wesson was an unusual exception though, constantly looking for an escape from her drug fueled hometown and looking for any grab at stability. A bar owner introduces himself to Miley one fateful day and the rest is to be discovered.

My s/i Lore (Enstars Edition)
I finally made picrews for all of my s/is so yayyyy
Ryu Sakuma (he/it)
Tumblr media
Rei and Ritsu Sakuma's brother. He isn't an idol or a producer, he instead helps with various behind the scenes work, such as: costume design, sewing, securing venues, promotions, and last-minute preparations. He mostly works with UNDEAD and Crazy:B, but also does some work with Knights and fine, as well as working once or twice with other units that reach out to him.
As a child, Ryu was always sheltered, both literally and metaphorically. He spent most of his days in his room and spoke very little to others, even his family. Even now, he does not speak much to others, though when he does speak, he does so in a very polite tone. He is not quick to anger or disappointment or joy.
Ryu does have a bit of an attitude, however, and carries himself with a certain air of arrogance, yet he is also humble and subservient. He loves to dress in fancy gothic / lolita-esque clothes, and he often crossdresses. He owns many beautiful dresses, skirts, corsets, and stockings. Because of this, he is often mistaken for a girl, which he doesn't mind but will usually correct anyways.
He lives with Rinne and Niki in their apartment now. There's only two beds because there isn't adequate space for three, so Ryu usually sleeps with Rinne, or he takes Rinne's bed and makes him sleep on the couch or in Niki's bed. Niki does most of the housework and Ryu is the one who goes shopping when they need to stock up. Rinne doesn't really help out around the house, but he makes up for it by gambling his money away! Neither of them mind because they love him.
It was actually Rinne and Ryu who got together first. Before then, Niki was in a weird gray area of being Rinne's non-romantic non-platonic malewife. After Rinne got a boyfriend, Rinne admitted his feelings for Niki and they officially got together.
Ryu's relationship with his brothers is loving, but distant. He doesn't speak much with them, but he enjoys their company. Rei and Ritsu's strain on their own relationship has deeply affected Ryu's relationships with them. He doesn't want to choose sides, so over time, he has distanced himself from them the same way they did from each other. He secretly longs to spend time with them like they used to, but he has accepted what their relationship is.
He gets along well enough with the other members of Crazy:B because of his relationship with Rinne. Kohaku didn't like him at first, but as time has gone on, they've come to mutually tolerate each other. HiMERU doesn't show much interest in Ryu, but HiMERU is always friendly towards Ryu. In turn, Ryu developed something of a crush on HiMERU. He gets awkward and shy when speaking with HiMERU, and this seems to amuse HiMERU to an extent.
Despite his weakening relationship with Rei, he has a good relationship with the members of UNDEAD. They like being around Ryu, and he hangs out with them a lot.
Wataru is Ryu's best friend, trusted companion, and confidante. Should anything happen, Wataru is always the first to know. He has shared all of his secrets with him and calls upon him for help when he's in a cinch and can't turn to anyone else. Wataru is the only person who he allows himself to be completely vulnerable around and does not worry about judgment from.
Ryu has always had a fascination with Valkyrie as a unit, and this fascination turned into a crush on Valkyrie's leader, Shu Itsuki. He liked to watch Shu Itsuki from afar and write down things in a special journal about him, everything from gushing to observations to simple thoughts about him. Shu Itsuki knows Ryu watches him and sometimes follows him around, and Ryu knows he knows. Shu Itsuki doesn't really mind. They never interact with each other.
A more recent crush of his is Tori, who also happens to be the person Ritsu has been pursuing. Ritsu and Tori aren't in a relationship yet, but it's only a matter of time. Ryu isn't bothered by this, as he has Rinne, and he knows he would never end up in a relationship with his beloved Tori. So he's content with Ritsu dating Tori and him watching and supporting his brother.
Besides those he's close to and cares about, Ryu doesn't interact with others unless it is on a professional level (or when Rei tries to push him to be more social). He is quick to compare himself with his brothers and feel inferior, hence why he did not pursue an idol career.
