I’m describing the lead photo first and how it happened. I decided to wear my tuxedo to Rita’s Actual Fun NYE last night. But I wanted to soften the tuxedo a bit and my Little Tokyo plushy Panda hat and my Piet Mondrian inspired party glasses seem to do the trick. While setting at the bar waiting for the New Year to arrive I was shooting some atmospheric shots and selfies. The bar had been filling up for a while and I thought a selfie with a crowd behind me might be nice. The lady to my left complemented me on my Panda plushy hat and I thanked her. Much to my surprise when I went to take this selfie both of these ladies decided to photobomb my shot. Right after that they both gathered to see the shot. We laughed a bit and then they both wanted it for themselves. So I let one of them send the shot from my phone to their phone. It made the evening even more fun. There was lots of dance music to shake your booty too. The there we’re performances that started at 11. If you watch the videos you’ll see spoken word and fire performances. The fire performance brought in the new year. Anyone, who follows Lucha VaVOOM will be familiar aesthetic of the party. Rita made it feel like an underground party with an assortment of artist/musicians spicing up the festivities. I left a little after 1am not wanting to be destroyed today. It was a fun loving and delightful crowd. The Escondite Bar is great space because it has a sense of intimacy and has a comfortable vibe about it. Today I returned to Escondite because I left some important mail there on Saint Patrick’s Day by accident. Instead making it a laborious task I turned into a celebration and adventure. Gus was my main man who delivered up the mail, the excellent food and the good vibes. I had The Don Bejarno (Socal Burrito with fine chopped carne asada, thin cut fries, Mexican cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, and a side of rocking red roasted pepper hot sauce) and a Guinness. The red roasted pepper hot sauce is BOMB!
