Hi! TheCatAnon here. i just have this cute headcanon of ewan, darling and matt as their animal counter parts. if this feels rude, you are more than welcome to not share this on your blog. the purpose of this is to have a little funsy headcanon.

ewan is definitely the black cat who loves to rub himself against his darling. he'd nuzzle against her and loves to lick her clean with a series of purrs coming out from him. he'd run away from others and is just like meh with them. but with his darling? he'd follow her everywhere with his tail up and intertwining with hers and his body would be pressed against hers as they walk together.

for darling, given on how they are in an fwb, rn, i think she'd either tolerate or hiss at him. she'd try to run away from him.....only for ewan the cat to keep chasing her. i think she might hiss at him sometimes. but, given how exhausted she is with him, i think she might just lean into tolerating him and just inserts eye-roll here and there.

as for matt smith? i think it will be a doggo. matt smith the happy doggo would come bounding towards reader with his butt up and tail wagging. he'd come along and try to play with darling.....only for ewan the cat to come, arch his back and hiss.

oh yeah. as a bit of an fyi, cats love to rub themselves against their owners to leave their scent on them. kind of like marking their territories. so, yeah, it is a bit possessive.

so, given how possessive ewan is towards his darling, i think he would hiss at matt the happy doggo before taking his darling away and rub himself all over her. given on how they are in an fwb, i think he would bite the scruff of her neck before climbing on her back and doing the deed on her.

and, of course, darling would scream and try to scratch his face off.

i think we need an overachieving eldest daughter reader x derby boy ewan mitchell. or, overachieving eldest daughter reader x matt smith. let's face it: eldest daughters are ambitious, driven and can be tough as hell. she ends up terrifying all the boys in the yard. enter our favourite derby-boy or successful actor matt smith.

with ewan, because of his derbyshire upbringing, he can handle someone who is driven, whip-smart and ambitious with a type A personality. i know that you don't want a chosen one reader but there is a research that eldest daughters are incredibly ambitious. hence, i can see her transitioning from acting to directing. be it to creative director at an animated film. or directing films. she gets made fun of for being uptight and uncool but, once you get to know her, she is kind and loving. enter our favourite derby-boy. ewan, having watched her films, ends up fanboying when he meets her. much to her horror, unlike her previous boys that her mum sets up with her tinder dates, she is unable to scare him away e.g. being the only one who can deal with her temper. i can see a bit of drama between the two of them: he is a heart over head type of person while she is a head over heart, even though it is killing her inside. nevertheless, he has a soothing presence which helps calm her down. also, which one is scarier: a derby boy or a grumpy and burnt out overachieving eldest daughter? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

as for matt, he is a successful actor who, without a doubt, is incredibly secure with himself. i can see a bit of age gap between the two of them. she is a rising star while he is an established actor. having watched her films, matt became a bit of a fan of her. when he met her, he is enthralled by her talent, tenacity and driven personality. he could tell that she was trying to scare him off, just like her previous dates. their first date was him "blackmailing" after she shoved him to a wall for trying to buy her something expensive. emma, liv, phia, bethany and tgc, sensing a great drama between the two of them, end up restraining her, while she is screaming to not buy that expensive dress. matt is like, "oh. I am going to have so much fun spoiling you". because of the fact that he is secure with himself, he is not scared of by her character and, in fact, chose to give her that warm and steady presence that she desperately craves in her life. he then becomes the constant presence in her life by helping her lighten her load, which allows her to let her guard down for the first time in her life.

Luv, this would be such a good story!

i saw that picture of ewan in theatre where emma had their play. it was incredibly boyfriend of him.

i know that some of us say that darling might do a play, like emma, and that you don't want to make her the chosen one. however, if i have a sliver of your talent in doing an rpf, in my headcanon, she is a trained classical soprano who can act on television and films and the next thing you know, she can belt out songs from phantom of the opera, les miserables, mozart's operas (e.g. allelulia) and so much more in theatre.

in my headcanon, hollywood being, well, hollywood, made the mistake of casting a big name A-list actress to play christine who is not a trained classical soprano (yes. i am doing a nod to margot robbie being casted as cathy in wuthering heights). darling, having heard about it, accepted the role as christine, which led fans to speculate her annoyance at the situation. they see it as her telling the casting directors of their loss. whilst the movie was review bombed, darling had a standing ovation for both her acting and voice.

of course, ewan, being the boyfriend he is, ends up bringing her a bouquet of roses from his bag, with fans cheering for the two of them. ewan would be gushing his head off when he is being interviewed.

i also think that it will be a fun dynamic of metalhead bf ewan x classical soprano darling. two opposites, like the sun and moon, and yet, they suit each other. just imagine, him, being all black, while she wears incredibly feminine and girly clothing with flowers woven into her hair.

thecatanon here. here's a spicy idea for our favourite derby boy: ewan doing it with his darling while their masks are still on. for his birthday, someone at hbo organised a party for their favourite derby boy. one of the options was a masquerade party. ewan, still not over of their interruption that night, ends up choosing that one.

his darling, feeling overwhelmed because of her complicated true love and rebound in the same room, ends up going to the maze to gather her thoughts. our favourite derby boy, as always, chases after her. and he ends up seducing her. they then end up doing it under the gazebo of lilies with their masks still on.

Darling, this is sweet as hell, but I feel like it's for a different kind of fic 🥲🙃

I hate to be negative but, if Ewan Mitchell has a partner irl, I really do hope that he defends her from haters. It's because everyone on Tiktok is currently seeing this trend of unknown/well-known actors who don't defend their partners when they are harassed. (I am looking at you, Robert Pattinson). If he does not defend her, it will definitely leave an extremely bad taste in my mouth for this guy.

No matter what, I hope they'll be happy in their private life. That's my stance with celeb couples. I don't think they should do this or that, they don't owe us anything. And even if one would publicly defend their partner, there'll always be dissatisfaction among such "fans". They'll just find another issue, another problem to dig up. Like – oh, is that all he said? He should've done more. He must not really like her, etc. – you know, all that bull.

And who knows what it's really like? Maybe they prefer keeping everything private and don't feel the need to address anything. We could think they're one way, but in reality, it could be completely different. I guess, my point is, I wouldn't make it my business, and I certainly won't judge based on what little we see. 💗

i have this slightly spicy headcanon here if reader is a ballet dancer and ewan. let's just say that, i think, ewan will gleefully join the dance with no pants with her in the studio. and let's just say that she will see every angle of their dance while struggling to remain en pointe against the barre without their outfits on. #justsaying. 😏

if i were to handle the fwb arc, darling would be crueller towards mitchell. maybe, it's because i don't come from a culture of sex before marriage. especially, if she is the eldest daughter in the family. eldest daughters are known to hold grudges and are extremely stubborn.

if i were to handle the fwb arc, i would make darling, straight away, an extremely resentful person. she would give ewan the cold shoulder and avoid him as much as possible. she even told her family on what is happening, leading to her crying her heart out towards them.

ewan, noticing asap on how badly he fcked up, quickly folded and apologised to his darling. however, because darling can hold a huge grudge towards him, she will end up giving him the answer that he does not want to hear and that is, "thank you". she'll apologise for lying to him and they will talk it out but darling is not going to be that quick in forgiving him, leading ewan to the depths of despair.

so, when darling gets injured, he will come face to face with her family. that is when her entire family just tells him to go away. they'll tell him, "you have done more than enough!" her mother and little sister would come in and say that, when ewan demanded the fwb, she broke down extremely hard behind closed doors and confided in them. so, ewan will have to deal with two things: 1) an extremely indifferent darling who does not give a damn about him and 2) an extremely furious family who will do anything to get rid of him. she will also blow up at anyone who dares to set her up with another blind date and proclaim that she will not touch another man with a ten-foot pole. they also claim that they know that she can't give herself fully to matt smith because she is terrified of that happening again.

she loves hard. but she dgaf harder. gone was the woman who was incredibly bright and cheerful, only to be replaced with a dispassionate darling with stony indifference, which makes it even more devastating for mitchell. so, when ewan says, "say you'll let me fix this! say you want me too!", darling will shake her head and just says to him that he'll find someone else who is much better than her, leading ewan to smile sadly but, seemingly, accept her decision.

nevertheless, there is a tiny bit of hope between them. during her holiday with the rest of hotd cast in spain, when louise comes along, this starts to worry darling. initially, she tries to act nonchalant.....until louise kisses ewan at the spin the bottle game.

in a fit of rage, she grabs a drink to cover her outburst.....only to discover that it is someone else's drink.

"why did you just grab that person's drink?" asked one of the cast members. but they are cheesing around because they know that darling is jealous. she laughs it off awkwardly before excusing herself. in the bathroom, she realises, much to her horror, that she is jealous. when ewan approaches her about it, she chastises ewan on what a player he is. ewan then snickers and asks her if she is jealous. of course, darling denies it extremely hard.

after the game is over, darling spends some time with phia and liv, like in part 12, before ewan comes over, pulls her aside and kisses her.

he then says, "i love you, my darling".

darling then says, "ewan, you are drunk".

"i know. but it doesn't change how much i love you. i really do. i know that i have fcked up pretty bad and i can see that in you. and it pains me to see on how tormented you are in making your decision".

darling then says, "ewan-"

"i'll wait," he promises, "even if you are with...him. even if it drives me crazy...i'll wait. because i want you to choose me".

that is when darling realises the depth of his feelings towards her, after witnessing him give that power.

ewan, of course, gives that tired and bittersweet smile.

"i'll wait," he whispers, "and i love you".

of course, eldest daughter darling can be quite frustrating as well. she will go around and around and around in circles on whether she should take the leap or not. and their relationship, in a nutshell, is the trope of, "you came. you called". e.g. being there for her whenever something comes up with her family.

knowing how deeply confused she is, ewan just sadly smiles while holding her. darling, of course, feels guilty, confused and tries to repress her feelings again while he is holding her tightly. until that one fateful day when ewan had an accident while stunt training, leading him bedridden. darling panics and quickly rushes towards him, pushing matt aside. she then sleeps beside him at the hospital bed. and when he wakes up, she quickly wraps her arms around him and cries her heart out, leading her to accept her feelings for ewan and choose him.
