As an art person yourself, what about Raita’s work do you find particularly interesting or noteworthy?

a lot of raita critics are turned off his work because he exaggerates proportions to the point of being grotesque but to me the appeal is exactly in how he exaggerates the shapes of the body to the point everyone looks kinda sickly and grotesque. raita very intentionally draws fleshy freaks as a stylistic choice, just look at his work for valkyria chronicles or even just some of the stuff he posts on his twitter to see it's not because he just doesn't know how to draw "better". a pretty common sentiment among experienced artists whether professional or not is that they really like drawing old people because old people have much more interesting and exaggerated shapes compared to young conventionally attractive people, this is pretty much the same thing if you ask me. I like how he gets funky with it. people point to his massive balloon tits the most but he applies the same kind of sickly exaggeration to men's bulging veiny muscles and bony hands

he's also very good with shapes especially when he gets to go nuts with big winding shapes. i mean just look at this shit. i think he's very good at playing into the shapes of the body with his designs and exaggerating them even further with the clothes, and with "extending" the body through these large winding shapes, in these examples through moriarty's butterfly collar, shuten's segmented sleeves, murasaki's spiral hair and dress frills, and ibuki's horns and cloud seating

i think it does raita's work a disservice to view it as the result of a guy being so horny he forgets what a real person looks like because he's not trying to draw real people he's drawing very intentional exaggerations. it does mean his best stuff is when he really leans into the sickly freak aspect and those tend to be the pics that self-proclaimed raita haters will sigh and admit look pretty cool (and conversely his worst work is when he applies his sickly freak beam to characters who are neither sickly nor freaks). i don't really care if people just don't like his work because it's a particular taste but it does bother me when people call him a bad artist for it because that's just plain not true. also here's some pieces from his fgo artbooks i like a lot

Mechanics in RPGs that you wish were more ubiquitous in the genre?

Im going to use ubiquitous to just mean more common, because I really want Berwick Saga's unit recruitment to be used more than like. Once here. I mean it's technically in 3Houses in the form of how you recruit other students but it sucks there because all the students are so samey mechanically, and you've already got a full set by default. I like games with lots of optional party members with unique niches, but more often then not it's just like generic class roles.

Alright if you had to rate each of the remake designs from the Tsukihime R PV on a scale of 1-5, what’s your take?

Shiki: 5/5. Hell yeah give him the jacket to cover his ugly shirt and give him better hair. Looks a little bit like Gudao with glasses now but he came first so really Gudao’s just ripping him off. LOVE that his MEoDP are now black in color, instead of glowing like Ryougi’s. My 2016 fan theory holds a little more weight now.

Arcueid: 3.5/5. Going to miss the more distinct hairstyle and the granny skirt, but otherwise she looks great. Definitely did not become the Saberface I feared she’d end up looking like.

Ciel: 3/5. What on Earth have they done to her hair. The new blue jacket carries the look. Thankfully she’s still Ciel so that means no matter what I love her.

Akiha: 4/5. The black and white outfit looks good on her. I’m more excited to see her oni form though. It better have horns. 

Hisui and Kohaku: They look exactly the same. Like, exactly the same. I can’t tell what they changed with these two. 

Satsuki: 10/5 How in cinnamon toast fuck did they make her look so adorable this is going to hurt twice as much I can already see it.

Personally if it’s a favorite, 10/10/10 is a must. Especially if it’s someone I’d grail to 100

that’s what i’m sayin! if its for a favourite i’d grind my ass off to 10 them especially if they’re a grail target. i’m not trying to backseat people’s playstyles but i’m just curious about how people can look at their fave, their lifeblood, and leave them unmaxed. emphasis on leave as in never touch them again because i know QP and mat costs are horrendous

I really do like that the last thing Dante does with Vergil at the end of 3 is try to save him from falling, which Vergil refuses. I think this is a large part of why in 5, Dante’s so adamant about taking Vergil down at first

yea he very much looks at it “failed to save him then, need to take care of it now” cause he knows fighting against family hurts and, while he’s extremely.... dante about it, he IS trying to save nero’s mental trauma about it.

Thankfully kyrie told nero his meat was huge and she loved him so he could shake the trauma and beat his dad and uncle up.

10/10 unit. one of the best 3* units, probably the best 3* saber, hits like a runaway truck, has some interesting utility on his skills. they’re not great but honestly his NP carries him so hard it doesnt matter

God the main interlude thing really is insane since iirc they only did that with prison tower because the writing team begged for it? It’s not like making old event content accessible to people who weren’t playing the game since 2016 would do anything to damage potential sales or anything. They COULD make it better, they just don’t… want to? I don’t get it.

it's so fucking stupid i really don't get it. is it secretly really complicated to strip an old event of its mechanics and shove the story back into the game or something? the most recent user survey did ask what events players like and which ones they want to see rerun so I'm guessing they intend to pay more attention to that but they just keep going about it in such weird roundabout ways for whatever reason. oh to be a fly on the wall in delightworks head offices and hear the secret fgo development drama
