It wasn't at all hard to tell Edric was upset. His usual bravado was missingwhen he spoke and especially when he had to cast spells. It was so pitiful that the teacher suggested he stop practicing early to work on homework.

Noticing this, Mathew cast an allusion of a note on the desk. "Want to talk about it at lunch?" It seemed to take Edric a minute to figure out what he meant, but when he did he looked across the room at Mathew and nodded.
