I love going off the face of the planet for a month because I've had three shows to design in a row.

One a week for the past three weeks this month (essentially two 60hr unpaid work weeks and one lightly paid work week).

Anyways, we open this week's show tomorrow night! Super fun.

Oh, and then I have a FOURTH show to design next week. And then a week to finish and turn in homework and then the end of the school year.

Tech is beginning for Anastasia! This stage manager is holding on for dear life, but is mostly thriving?

Nights are starting to get later, my brain is overwhelmed with tons of information, and then having to use that information to make things happen, and now I’m on my A-game for safety as we start to use huge set pieces and props.

One of the most important, yet difficult part of my role in this phase is the idea of setting the temperature. Meaning, my team and I, have to keep things 72°. No matter what happens or what goes wrong. 72°. For me, it’s more like 68° because I like a colder temp, but you get the idea.

Problem arises, like a prop is broken from being mishandled, even when I wanna go, ahhh I wanna murder youuuuu!!” I just take a deep breath, and go “Make sure we are careful with our props, we will get this fixed”

I can genuinely hear and feel in my soul the “shwoop” of heads in my direction anytime that something goes wrong. The way that I respond is just so important in maintaining a calm atmosphere and allowing rehearsal to continue smoothly. Which is honestly, a lot of pressure the more I think about it. I’ve got a lot going on already, and situations arising makes me feel like a kettle near boiling lol.

I am still having a fun time though and am happy to serve this show through all that I’m doing! Kind words and appreciation from my cast and production has been encouraging and reminding me that everything I’m doing will pay off and has a purpose! I’m looking forward to entering tech with the cast quite soon, even if I’m already in tech myself lol.

Especially if your mannequin is a lot bigger then your actress 😩

still need to work out a sleeve pattern for the ballgown and a fake blouse for the peasant outfit that isn't just pinned fabric

I don't think I was too far off my time estimate, it's just the designer didn't provide all the things I said I'd need to do it on a tight deadline (like all the fabric and a blouse I could sew to the green bodice instead of wasting time making one)
