Sitting here in my apartment, 2 weeks before Christmas.

Decorations up, tree glimmering, wreath on the door,

not a present under the tree.

Sitting here wondering all the thoughts, like why can’t we just all be free?

Bills, lights, birthday, can we even afford to pay?

No celebrations, just distractions to put the anxiety at bay.

Routine, distraction, its this time of year.

Conditioned to take our focus from the class war, that is undeniably crystal clear.

We doom scroll, we repost, we share our opinions.

We know that action, has always been the one thing that is needed.

Paralyzed by fear, stuck in our own head,

routine is safe for the position we have taken, hiding in our bed.

We see the war brewing, we see the rich getting richer.

We see our families struggling to even see the bigger picture.

Politics have been weaponized to sew our division.

Among people who take whatever scraps we are deemed to be given.

Here we are; holiday season once again, class war upon us, as it truly has always been.

Will we live by distraction, hoping our opinions gain traction?

Or take a cue from the adjuster, and take some action….
