made a lil house in minecraft
#it is modded (the fairy lights and furniture are not vanilla)#and i did follow a youtube tutorial though i edited some parts#but this isn't a cherry grove lmao this is a plains#i added the trees and petals and. pretty much everything that's not normal plains stuff#hid lighting under the moss carpets so it's bright and there's no spawns but i don't need to ruin the Vibe with torches#the lake nearby is only separated from the ocean by a small beach#so i'm gonna dig a canal to connect them and decorate and possibly release the axolotls i found into the lake#one of the mods lets you have candles on lilypads so i'm stoked for that#ALSO. by the bedroom. that's my mine entrance#i literally spent over an hour and over 4 stacks of cherry logs making it (and drowned twice)#it's stripped cherry and birch planks all the way down to -53#with powdered snow on one side and a soul sand water elevator on the other#i literally haven't even mined yet or even carved out an area to start mining#i just made the shafts. and it took over an hour and two deaths gjfhdhshs#also powdered snow + carpet is my new favorite way of breaking falls thanks youtube#you don't fall into the snow bc of the carpet but it still breaks your fall and you take no damage!#and since it's under carpet it looks cute too#you just have to be careful when using a powdered snow drop next to a water elevator 😔#bc water will wash away the snow... happened to me twice 😭#thankfully i got like 7 buckets of the stuff so i was fine#rey rambles#minecraft#anyway cherry wood was the best thing they've ever added to minecraft i am SUCH a pink bitch and this is perfect#modded pink woods never quite captured the Vibe the way vanilla cherry does

#there's something really beautiful about experiencing the weather patterns of a new place#where i live now. its not like where i grew up. not like the foothills of Appalachia but its more familiar than the Chihuahuan desert was#when i go home to ohio everythings so green. so green. unimaginably green and the towns are in the woods. the hills roll#and trees billow deciduous and packed so tightly the treeline is like a wall of plant matter. here there are trees but they are tall and#evergreen. patchy in places like shrubs in the desert. the grass grows green but also pale tan and dead. houses are routed in valleys#between mountains. they're made of wood and not stucco but they still look strange and the landscape is crumpled together tall. and there's#water. it rains. days can be dreary and gray with drizzle. i forgot what thats like. when a single low stratus cloud blocks out thewhole sk#and fog clings to the trees. my school bus used to drive by a lake where thr fog was so thick i didnt kno how the driver could see the road#but somehow i forgot how much joy suspended water vapor gives me living in a place where when it rains it pours so hard the streets flood#and the greedy ground drinks the landscape dry. but there are new things as well. here smoke rolls up over thr mountains and gets stuck in#the valleys so that the weather forcast reads: Smoke for days on end. im used to tornado warnings and heat warnings and dust storm warnings#but ive never expected Smoke as a type of weather. and im sure there's more to experience. ive only been here like 3 weeks. its not as gree#as home. the storms dont seem to get quite so violent. the woods are so full of bears that its an active threat. but its not the desert#and while ill miss the shapes of desert plants and little lizards. when i look up at the pine and spruce trees i feel like i can breathe a#little easier. well see how i feel once the long cold winter sets in haha#but i dunno. part of me still longs for a violent thunderstorm. one where u can feel the temperature drop and u csn feel it building all da#one that bends the trees and smells like ozone. it was never like that in thr southwest and im not sure that happens here#but maybe thats just a desire for chaos and violence as a product of my pathological internal control. i cant be spontaneous so let nature#bring the fear to me. some of my favorite memories are watching lightning strikes#so it goes i suppose#unrelated#listen. is it fucked up to have ohio nostalgia? maybe so. but in my defense i grew up in the pretty part of ohio lol

hmmm. perhaps we will have to look into some sort of laws around photography and copyright and like... intellectual property or something lol. if we take a photo of a location in a campsite and the photo does not contain any cabins or people or vehicles or tents (one photo has a shelf of canoes and a couple adirondack style chairs, and the other photo has a stack of firewood under a typical wooden firewood shelter that u find at every campsite ever) and we want to put it up on a personal website that may potentially create some kind of non-commercial income(? stuff like patreon or kofi) in the far-off future, would that be legal.........? I feel like the answer is yes, but I do wonder if there's some kind of copyright (or whatever the word would be) on like... owned locations lmao. and would we need to credit the campsite as is for right now i wonder?

Watching episode 11 of The Sandman, which is a fucking amazing show by the way, reminded me of the first time I watched Doctor Who and so many actors I knew somehow managed to be in every episode. But 10x more overwhelming. Like, you cannot have all these amazing actors I know voice and act as all of these characters then on top of that, have me realize that this is the show the line, "you came"...."you called" is from.
